I always find Drawing fight scenes challenging... particularly with big bruiser characters as they can't pull off the more athletic moves (flying kicks and that kind of thing).

So god damn tired of ai art and ai music and ai voices and ai "expression". they mean nothing say nothing and they starve out the people who are saying meaningful things with their art so all that remains is corporate drivel and I'm tired of it. The most artistically amateur art piece made by someone who cares and has something to say is infinitely more impactful than the most stylized art made by a computer by mashing other artists work together with no meaning. Stop posting it in discords alongside actual artists work, stop implying that disabled people need to steal to make meaningful art, touch grass and maybe pick up a pencil and draw something meaningful even if it's not pretty
Also if you post ai art as a contest submission to neopets dot com I will go to your house and eat your drywall

something i think we as an art community need to get into the habit of doing
gonna be real here.
share artists work. especially work of smaller artists you come across. it helps, you don't understand.
Interact with them.
share their ocs with others
if they take requests/allow asks, ask and contribute something. come back every so often and give ideas
invest in their characters, or their artwork, their stories
retweet their art.
share their art in discord servers,
share thier art with your friends
comment on their work
draw fanart of their ocs
join their discord servers, talk a bit.
join their dtiys
share their commissions
i'm personally getting a little tired of seeing comments of people wishing they could do more, when there are always alternatives when you can support someone. I really feel like nowadays people forget that there are many many many different ways you can support someone that does not involve money.
I'm also personally more inclined to think that, if somebody is getting recommended from someone else, other people are willing to listen rather than the source sharing it themselves. Think about it, it's like finding a funny meme video. a show, a food you find it enjoyable, so you want to share it with others - so why not do the same with art you come across? It's the same sentiment. You're helping the person get out there, and get more eyes on their work, and if it's good enough to share to other people, other people [in my opinion] would be more likely to pay attention to it.
Simply sharing work so it allows more people to see it, can make the smallest of differences.
Leaving a comment on my work can mean the world, it shows how much you appreciate the art.
Not all compliments have to be something deep, you don't have to hyper analyze art to leave a nice, heartfelt comment.
All of these things are free, and I'm pretty sure on at least 90% of websites that allow you to share things, you have the ability to delete them, so it's not even permanent on your profile. You can always delete it later if you choose, but I really feel like people in general should get into the habit of sharing work that they like, talk about it more. There's so many different artists on this platform as well as many others that don't get the opportunity to be seen because people are not taking the initiative.
Because social media have all seemingly gone in the garbage lately, I really think that people should get into the habit of doing these things. Doing more than simply liking the post and continuing to scroll. If something catches your eye, I really think that you should be sharing it. If that character is pretty, considered drawing them something, a random change in pace wish somebody who may never ever receive fanart of any kind, getting something can make a difference.
---
tldr. i think people should get into the habit more of trying to support artists in ways that aren't monetary, especially smaller artistss they come across. I really feel like a lot of opportunities are not given to these small artists (giggles, me!) because people are not taking the initiative to share their work as opposed to popular artists. You can support people in ways that are not monetary, but I genuinely feel like a lot of these things on this list are often neglected or even forgot about because it's not something I tend to see normalized unless the artist is already well known.

Random art ramble🥳
I think I want to start making my art more cartoony and shape heavy. The other day I was doodling in a notebook my aunt had got me. It came with tutorials on how to draw Disney characters. I had been aware of using base shapes but when using the tutorials I sketched like “professionals” do (light base shapes and lines then darkening the final lines)
Tumblr media
Although the results aren’t the best example, they came out very clean. (Btw the top one is the kindergartens design from the Adam Sandler movie, Leo it’s very good)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Using some of my more recent art as an example, it’s definitely more “anime” than cartoon. Although I’m actually pretty happy with the results of these pieces and my art style, I feel like cartoony art styles are can be really flowy and clean looking.
I’d keep my coloring the same but I think I would mainly start to exaggerate features. Ex. Larger noses, bigger eyes etc
I’ve always really loved cartoons and rubber hose styles so I somehow have to figure out how to incorporate that into my art style.
If you have any opinions/suggestions/advice please don’t hesitate to share :3

When you first started drawing Wukong and macaque was it diffrent from the one you have now or the same? And if so how long or how did you wanna start drawing them like that : D! I LOVE LOVE LOVE UR ART BTWS HAVE A GREAT DAY OR NIGHT OR AFTERNOON 😋‼️‼️‼️
even in my earliest and oldest shadowpeach art I tried to depict them as plus sized and old, I didn't really know much about anatomy or how to depict someone looking old (I still struggle with it a lot) but it has always been my vision since the beginning!
literally spent months learning and studying muscles and body form to be able to draw them fat just because I really really wanted to do it and it just didn't look like that initially, so I spent hours studying just because of it.
when it comes to their designs now appart from their body types I've always seen macaque as having more rough shapes like rectangles, spikes, triangles, while wukong a more softened shape like circles, spirals, squares, that's just how I've always liked it but I was still studying realistic anatomy for me to start stylizing it, so I put a pin on that and came back to it later once I felt comfortable enough to explore more fun shapes to depict their bodies and figures with.
I adore their hair a lot, I love how spiky macaque's hair and how it has moon shapes, I originally didn't do moon shapes until I figured I could literally add them so I did. as for wukong, I've always done his hair in a rounder way, eventually just deciding to straight up draw cartoony curls and it developing into a cloud, his cloud shaped hair is still my favorite thing I've come up with design wise.
one of my biggest inspirations to how I draw wukong is literally the original Akira Toriyama style from the dragon ball manga, I'm not a huge fan of the anime and new style due to how much the roundness and chubbiness of the style is taken away, which was literally my favorite part of it.
right now I'm pretty happy with how they look, I still want them to look like old men and feel like I don't nail it well enough yet, but I'm still figuring it out! I just experiment a lot with them, they're my favorite.
btw thank u so much!! I appreciate:)c

Just some ramblings about my art
I've been painting realism for so long now that I realised I DO NOT HAVE MY OWN ART STYLE.
My profile picture is a painting I did of durge but it looks so close to the real screencap I took of him that there is nothing that truly jumps out at me that makes it special.
Tumblr media
I'm basically pushing myself to find my own art style and it feels like I've gone back to square one. It can feel disheartening and difficult when the work I'm doing now lacks the details and lighting I always focus on. But at the same time, this is good. NOT adding details is HARDER for me because I'm so used to obsessing for hours over whether the eye looks wet enough or if the ears are shaded right, or if the fingernails look polished.
Tumblr media
I think this is a really important step for me, for getting out of my comfort zone and trying something new, something looser, and art that isn't polished, but I'm finding that it's WAY MORE expressive and enjoyable!!

Can I ask why you draw the things you draw? (No offense, I'm just personally curious as to why someone might like unconventional things like puke, STDs, SH, blood and overall kind of disgusting stuff) (not saying this in a negative way, your art just strays away from the norm a lot)
Well uh i think like a year or two ago whenever my art style was more "normal" i didn't really have much fun with it, i was too focused trying to make people actually like my art rather than me actually having fun with it myself. I didn't draw for MONTHS because of it until i came across ranfren and i actually loved the artstyle and got inspired by it which is why it's so heavily inspired.
As for the sh and blood stuff It'll probably be taken as me sexualizing in a way but I'm really not, i struggled with sh personally in the past so just drawing it on random characters helps me cope with it a bit better and gives me the same sort of satisfaction as ACTUALLY cutting myself but at the end of the day its just red lines. As for the rest of the stuff it's mainly inspired by that one guy that made that dumb mlp series thing? Like the bald guy? That and with again Captainhowdies style so its just a mix of both of em. And because i just like having an artstyle i can actually have fun with that doesn't feel overly normal, and drawing the stuff that i do can be hilarious and helps me cope with a lot of stuff.
Though I'll probably cringe at myself for drawing like this in the future, I'd rather be cringe and draw weird shit rather than drawing in an artstyle I'm not happy with.
but thanks for the question! I've been waiting to explain stuff like this just so it'll clear up some stuff and so people won't think I'm a complete weirdo anndd cuz i like overly explaining shit like this lol

I used to think "how come most of the artists draw ghouls in their Meliora masks" friends and family I have spent about an hour drawing tubes and goggles and stitches on 1 (one) mask and now I know exactly why

I have no hate towards modern art pieces at all. I can’t help but laugh when people are like “I could’ve done that!” Followed by the cliché response “why didn’t you?” Modern Art pieces are presenting new ways of expressing or communicating. Not necessarily making something explicitly figurative but instead experimenting with how we experience a work of art. So next time a mf tries to down play a modern art piece, tell em to just sit with it for a second, then ask how the piece makes them feel. The word “pretentious” is just a cop out from doing a lil bit of research for context on the artist and their intentions behind the work(s)
