AAAHHHH. ANOTHER ROR FAN! It's so hard to find people who like it 😭
Anyways, if you take requests at the moment, what about headcanons Hades, Buddha, Loki and Posideon being just complete simps for reader? (If that's too many, just loki or Buddah is fine!)
Just met the person and suddenly, guess I'm in love now, oops!
Anyways, thanks a lot, hope you have a great day!
you're too kind😭😭❤️❤️ It's always so nice to receive such sweet words! Anyway, there you go hun<3 hope you like it
Tumblr media
RoR characters headcanons: them being total simps for you!
Tumblr media
POSEIDON
🌊This guy is hilarious: he refuses to admit that he's simping over someone. "Gods are perfect. They don't bond to anyone" Yeah...that's a lie-
🌊Hades was the first to notice that something was wrong with his brother, but he decided to stay silent and wait for him to talk about it. Needless to say, he bursted out laughing when Poseidon told him everything: from what he felt when you were near him, to the way your presence brings a breeze of happiness to the midst of the seedy Valhalla.
🌊Poseidon will try to approach you starting from very sneaky things. For example, his favorite thing to do is sit next to you during gods' meetings, scaring anyone in his way. Once he nearly got into a fight with Shiva, because he practically pushed him out of the seat next to you, nearly knocking him off the entire stairway.
🌊During his fight, he will repeatedly make eye contact with you, boasting about his strength and hoping you can notice him... somehow. "Look at me, you fool"
🌊Tsundere mode: on. Poseidon will literally insult you everytime you'll try to talk to him. This dumbass will regret it later alone in his castle.
Tumblr media
HADES
☠️Unlike his brother, Hades is more confident, courting you in front of all the gods and calling you "My queen" whenever he can.
☠️He's not sneaky at all and isn't afraid to hide his feelings for you. The only thing that could stop him it's the realization that he could ruin your reputation: it's not the best to hang out with the king of the Underworld, many despise him and he doesn't want you to be treated the same way.
☠️Expect to find your room flooded with various gifts and love letters, each accompanied by a black rose. You often feel sorry for Hermes and wonder how he can carry all that stuff. Yet, you get excited every time you see him arrive with a package, decorated with a delicate purple bow.
☠️Hades is jealous. He does not hesitate to scold and intimidate any deity who tries to approach you, even going against his own brothers (especially Zeus)
☠️When you're alone, Hades wastes no time in jumping on you and filling you with love. If, on the other hand, you are attending a dinner or a meeting, he will place his hand on your hips, refusing to remove it. Plus, he'll kiss you softly without anyone noticing.
Tumblr media
LOKI
🐍He will be so annoying! Loki will stick to you like a tick, bothering you as a sign of affection (what a brat...)
🐍He will play jokes on you all the time, immediately bursting out laughing at your reaction. However, if you were to feel bad, telling him that he exaggerated, he will apologize instantly, hugging you and reassuring you. "I'm sorry, please look at me, bunny. I'm sorry... I promise"
🐍Loki is the type to put little flowers in your hair without you noticing, enjoying the view from afar and admiring your beauty. Daisies look so good on you! How could he not enjoy such a view?
🐍You'll likely get involved whenever he makes a mess, and don't be surprised when you're treated like some sort of human shield. Even so, you've never gotten into trouble. Deep down you like it when he suddenly enters your room to hide from Thor, who wouldn't dare to do the same.
🐍Loki loves to float around you, acting like the perfect watchdog. It makes him feel like a perfect partner: protecting you with dedication and love. But there are negative (or positive) sides, of course dirty jokes can't miss: "Look what a nice temper you have, it wasn't like this last night when I-" "SHUT UP"
Tumblr media
BUDDHA
🍬He is the boldest lover that could ever happen to you. If he wants to do something, he won't hesitate to do it, everyone knows that. Yet, when it comes to you he becomes totally a servant, without hiding it from others. Do you need something? Well, give him just a second-
🍬Count yourself lucky, Buddha loves you so much that he shares his secret stash of sweets with you! The pocky challenge is a must, but he's favourite thing to do is kissing you indirectly making you suck on the lollipop that he already had in his mouth.
🍬Every once in a while, he lets you find a little love letter on your pillow with a chocolate next to it. He knows he looks like a detached person who thinks only of himself, so he does everything to make you feel his closeness.
🍬Buddha always calls you names. "Come here, sweetie!" "Aww honey, are you angry?" "Gimme one of your sugar kisses, would ya?" He loves the way you blush every time he does it, you're such a cutie!
🍬He trusts you blindly, in fact he doesn't hesitate to ask you for help when he needs it. You protect each other and for Buddha this is one of the most important things in your relationship. Please, tell him how much you love him and don't hesitate to talk about your feeling! You are too important to him, so feel free to tell him everything you want.

Hello,
(without judgment) may i know why you like tim? i mean the reasons why he is the "best" robin for many people, (according to you). You seem to really know his character
(my english is really bad, sorry)
Ah, okay, so this seems like a serious ask, so I'll sit down and actually answer it.
I like Tim because, at his core, he believes he is a good person, and does good things. Is this true? Well, in most cases, yes. His morals can be loose sometimes, and he's always this close to snapping and becoming a genocidal dictator, but his conviction that he is a good person and those aren't "good person things to do" stop him. He's silly and dumb and so so complex and seems generic on the surface, but I swear he is so, so much more.
He's undoubtedly a good Robin. He was the first to get the Robin suit pants (thank God for that, though the scaly shorts were cute), and his writers loved him and loved Robin. Tim’s hardworking, a fast learner, kind, canonically the most intelligent Robin and a better detective than Batman himself. (Not to say any of the Robins are stupid, they're all intelligent and amazing detectives, but this is Tim’s thing, y’know?) I consider him the best because he was diligent and reasonably cooperative (at least cooperative enough that it didn't interrupt the mission), intelligent, compassionate, a good fighter, and quippy, all in perfectly Robin-sized proportions. He did a lot as Robin, achieved a lot, and that definitely adds to my conviction.
He's also got his own personal agenda half the time that he pushes secretly or blatantly, depending on if it'll cause problems that will stop him from achieving said agenda. He thinks out of the box to achieve his ends, and has a ruthless streak a mile wide. He's also such a loser yet makes fun of others, and that's hilarious to me.
For me, at least, he's just...relatable. He's flawed and bossy and sometimes paranoid and a Batman and Robin (then later, Nightwing) superfan and he's funny and tends to overthink a lot and he fails, sometimes. The narrative tends to be kind to him, and many characters admit he's likable or at least worth their time (I'm thinking of Lady Shiva here, basically training him because she basically thought he was batshit insane ("thought outside of the box" or whatever) and that appealed to her). He's what I call little-brother shaped, in that he's annoying in a way that you're accustomed to find endearing.
Tim has good relationships with a lot of fan favorites, batfamily members or not, and has a tendency to get in other people's business with the insistence he can help. People, whether with shock, humor, derision or resignation, tend to let him, leading to his genuinely ridiculous amount of teamups. He's friendly and fun(ny) to be around generally, even when he's moping. (See: Red Robin 2009). He was remarkably popular in school but too wrapped up in Robin to take up the many, many invitations to hang out he got daily. He's a nerd but hates school and dropped out. He's unable to stay in one place, maybe partly due to him moving apartments a lot as a child.
...I'm rambling. Anyway, here's posts that get into Tim's relationship with his parents. These next ones are about Jack Drake; one that I agree with probably due to my father being a lot like Jack Drake, one that's kinder to him than I'll ever be, but looks at it from both angles and I agree with the harsher take, and one that's got a lot of Bruce but a lot of Tim about Jack as well. TDLR; Tim's dad was shitty, but not shitty enough for anyone whose name isn't Dick Grayson to really...notice? Or do anything about? Which is relatable to me, at least. Jack dies when Tim’s 16, kicking off the worst year of his life.
Tim's also got average parents that tend to be on the side of bad, in Jack's sake. His parents weren't shown on-panel a lot, but from what we know, they ship him off to boarding school once they can. (Which, hey, no judgement, better than leaving him alone) He stops going to boarding school when he's uhh, 15-16. He's 13-14 when his mom dies and his dad is sent into a coma. He mourns her. Jack gets out of his coma eventually, dates then marries his much-younger physical therapist who's a better mother-figure to Tim than Jack is a good dad, is a shitty dad (he knows barely anything about his kid yet keeps exerting control over him, he lets Tim down time and time again, he's shown to have violent tendencies though it's worth noting he never hits Tim on-panel. Some of this can be attributed to him and Tim just being different, but Tim's his son. He should put in more effort than he does.), makes up for it a bit, then dies.
This sounds like Tim propaganda, and it is. He's forgiving and sarcastic and very quick to make nice with people that've hurt him in the past. He's also got a chronic case of Youngest Child Syndrome due to him being the youngest for so long, so he's there's that undertone of brattiness/entitlement when interacting with the older family members he's close to, that screams he's used to being put first and expects it, even. It's endearing though. He loves his friends and his family, makes sure to let them now, and makes sure they know when he feels unloved so they can fix it. He proudly parallels Dick and quietly parallels Bruce, and is the most Bruce-like off all the batkids. King of compartmentalization for the mission.
(Also, he's bi and I see him as heavily ADHD/autism coded (a bit of both in my opinion) he's also absolutely insane btw.)
He's just!!! I'm so fond of him, and I see why other are too. He seems over-hyped, but like...he's genuinely amazing. He didn't create the Robin mantle, but he gave it so much life and joy and he deserves the world.
Also dw your English is perfect here!

I read the recent post and I hope no hate anon is approaching you because I will bring my steel tupperware bottle
Anyway I am really glad that people like you and @lil-stark didi exist. I do not have much knowledge about the political power and parties and especially about the kashmiri pandit issue who was ruling who belonged to which party so I don't speak about this but people who downplay the atrocities that happenes with those pandits deserve a special place in hell. Like think you are moved away from your land by force, by brutal killing and rapes only after some years to hear a random person on the internet say yaar utna bhayankar bhi nahi hua tha and it's a propaganda
The amount of misinformation these so called modern radical folks have is hilarious. Ghanta ramayan mahabharat padhi kahin koyi translation chipka. Not so sweet61 posted that ss of ram following manu, if they really did Vashishtha wouldn't have asked for sita to be the commander of ayodhya instead of leaving with ram.
And Manusmriti itself contradicts the vedas and upanishads. We have had a culture that promoted women scholars, encouraged debate and questioning, and lol as if one could be a brahmin just because they were born in a family. You had to have those qualities to be that and then can you be one. It's as similar to a person being a warrior. Not everybody can be one. You need to train and practice for it. It's good that if you are born in one that way you have an exposure to the respective field just like today if I am born in a house full of doctors, I would have much knowledge about the study, expenses and related stuff to medicine.
Just like every culture every community has good and bad things, sees its rise and fall, we Hindus have seen too. From an era where it was encouraged for a woman to be a brahmavadini, we became resentful at the thought of sending girls to school. We forgot how the texts told to respect each and every person irrespective of their social status to discriminating them on basis of caste and there are all so many issues that we need to address too.
But majal hai that I will sit quietly and see these random people on the internet speak about my culture and insult it. From North to south east to west, Rama and Krishna have been worshipped and always will be. We will always look upto them and learn from them.
In the recent years, the youth of today apart from some dumb idiots who have bhagwan rama in their pfp and comment women tea on every post, I am happy to see that teens are taking interest to read and learn our own Indian history and scriptures. I am not seeing them blindly accept everything. I have seen them ask questions which might be considered 'blasphemous' by the elders but the vedas themselves promote curiousity, questioning and debate as the best way to gain knowledge. And I hope the younger gen keeps going in this path.
(You can respond to this ask in private varna tere piche hate anons aa skte hai)
Seriously, why did Ram, who supposedly followed Manusmriti marry a woman who was a scholar, a warrior, capable of lifting Shiva’s Dhanush and encouraged her to remain her brave, outspoken self because that’s who she was? Why request her to stay in the palace when Manu says that a woman should always be observed? Why give in to all her requests and respect her decisions when Manu says that a woman is mentally incapable of making sound decisions? Why be happy and praise her when she slays Sahastra Raavan?
If Manusmriti was truly being followed, why did the biggest scholar in that entire story, Janak, have his daughters educated, that too by a scholar woman like mata Gargi? Why train them in warfare? Why Did Dashrath bring Kekayi to war with him? Why did Dashrath request the hands of women, who impressed him by thier knowledge, for his sons? And like you pointed out, why offer a woman the position of commander??
If caste was the way Manusmriti says, why was Shabri, a lower caste woman, visited by the lord and sent to heaven? Why did he make a big show of letting the arrogant priests who looked at Shabri with scorn know that she is purer than them by making her touch clean the pond?
Why did Shri Krishna say that a true pandit (knowledgeable person) would see a Brahmin and a Chandala equally? Why did he say he resides in everyone equally, women and Shudras included? Why did the Vedas that are supposedly off limit for Shudras say this?
Tumblr media
Manusmriti is not a scripture, it condradicts the Vedas themselves, when it comes to women’s education, the position of women (there is an exceprt where a warrior queen is mentioned), and being for everyone. Apparently women cannot read Vedas even though the Vedas speak to them directly in multiple excerpts? (Oh men and women, oh women etc,) Shudras Cannot read Vedas even though the Vedas say they are for everyone, Shudras included?
Even if you look at other works of the time, like Kamasutra, which technically is somewhat of a scripture in some parts where it discusses philosophy, because its prologue says it was first written by lord Nandi. Manusmriti thorughly contradicts that aswell.
Oh, and Kamasutra was written after Manusmiriti, And Ramayan and Vedas before it, and all of these except Manusmriti are now engraved on temple walls, so you can clearly see which ones of the restrictive and liberating philosophy was preffered by Hindus at large throughout.
If Casteism was so prominent and rigid, how did a shudra become the partriarch of the biggest empire in mainland India?
Chandragupta Maurya was either clanless or a Shudra, and the current existence of Maurya tribe in Bihar enforces the second one. How did he make it to the top, that too with the help of a Brahmin, if things were as dire? Same can be said for
How was Queen Durgavati’s Father in Law able to change himself into a Rajput despite being a tribal?
How was Vishwamitra, a born Kshatriya able to be a Rishi? How was Lord Parshuram, a born Brahmin revered on a higher level than most Kshatriyas in warfare and was able to put the fear of lord in their hearts?
How was rishi Matang able to be a brahmin despite being born a Shudra?
How was Mātang blessed with goddess Saraswati as a daughter?
How did Lord Gorakhnath become such a prominent saint?
How was VedVyas, son of a Fisherwoman, able to be a sage? How were children of Satyavati able to be kings?
How did the founder of Raghukul become a Kshatriya after becoming a king when he was born a Brahmin?
How was Lord Krishna happily doing the physical labour of a cowkeeper, like a shudra, while living in a vaishya community, despite being born a kshatriya?
I honestly have no more questions to ask that I can think of right now, and I honestly cannot agree more with everything you say. Slay girl💅🏻
I think its better if I make the answer public, simply because I ranted in public so the follow up doesn’t change much, and this is something people should see. But girl, thankyou so much for being worried <3

Jailer (2023) Spoiler Review
If you like pure mass entertainment and a group of veteran actors kicking ass, you'll love Jailer.
I saw Rajni's Petta a while back and while I enjoyed some parts of it, I was largely frustrated towards the end. I also saw Nelson's (the director) Beast, and while it had a straightforward premise, some parts of it were eyebrow-raising (I still love the hallway shooting scene with Vijay, though, that was just hella cool even if it didn't make sense). So, when they announced a Nelson and Rajinikanth collaboration, I wasn't sure if I should bother watching.
I'm glad I watched it though. For one, the story isn't all over the place. The revenge angle and heist subplot made sense together.
The flashback revealing Rajini's days as a hard-core warden aka Jailer was pretty nice. I liked that his hair style looked like the one in his older movies. However, I really don't understand why the inmates liked him or became loyal to him. It was never showed what he did to make them turn over a new leaf. They just said he helped them, but we mainly saw him being extremely violent.
Okay, this is part where I reveal that I saw Jailer a day after I saw Jawan. I couldn't help comparing the action in both movies because the action in Jailer is so violent! I'm not complaining or cringing. I actually liked the over-the-top violence lmao. It's just that I was like "Oh, right, this is one of things I was waiting for in Jawan -- hyperviolence!" LMAO.
Anyway, I do love that the former inmates that helped him were veteran action stars from Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema: Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff respectively. Bruh, I had goosebumps when Shiva R stepped into the house to protect Muthu's family while the Hukum song played!
Next, let's talk about the songs and bgm. "Hukum" really is such a banger of a song. And the style that they do, where they insert bits of the song's melody into cool scenes that build up and lead to the FULL SONG or at least CHORUS is such a great style because it makes you so hyped for the next badass scene!
Now, the family -- I honestly thought Rajni and Ramya Krishnan would have more romantic moments together since this is their reunion. Like, yes, they're grandparents now, but so what? It's always nice to see older people still doing romantic stuff with each other y'know.
Anyway, that twist with his son! I didn't expect them to go all the way with the betrayal but wow. It was really sad, but I liked that they went for that gut-wrenching story, too. Rajini is not much of a dramatic actor, but his performance was good for what the script called for. Also, his partnership with Yogi Babu was funny and nice. Also, those bald sharp-shooter guys! Their costume changes! That was so hilarious! And Varman's henchmen! The random funny characters and elements are really such a fun part of the mass experience.
All in all, Jailer is a really enjoyable movie for the whole family (if your kids are old enough to not be so desensitized to violence I guess).

I started getting this post together today and I was wondering when was the last time I posted Dianna Agron? I knew it had to be a long time. At least a decade but I couldn't be sure with my history gone and I was choosing pics and decided to look at her filmography to see what might have had me post her because I was well past watching Glee by the time this blog started up. So I went and looked and I couldn't find anything I watched with her in it since Glee except for Shiva Baby, which wasn't that long ago and I know I didn't post her after that. So I went to my records and somehow I have never posted Dianna Agron. Which is insane because she's beautiful and I was just certain I must have posted her because she is so beautiful. But it never happened and that glimpse at her body of work post Glee tells me why, it's just stuff I haven't seen. So while in the back of my mind I know she's gorgeous and every now and then she shows up on my dash or in photos or whatever, she never made it here. Which is insane. Anyway, she has shown up in a few photoshoots this week and that is why I am making this long overdue post. Given I have never posted her before I decided to dig way back and get brand new pictures and pictures that are close to 15 year old to mix this up because she has aged so well, she doesn't look older but somehow more distinguished. It's sort of fascinating that she went from playing teenagers to... well, now she just looks elegant and sophisticated, which would be why she was (hilariously) the older, non Jewish woman people sort of envied in Shiva Baby. My point is she has aged like fine wine and is just beautiful. Today I want to fuck Dianna Agron.

Honestly beechan is a good writer, it’s a shame that he was stuck with writing Cass going evil (which I believe was actually an editorial mandate bc they were thinking of bringing back babsgirl already), but you’re right that it’s a good read if you can ignore the character assassination lmao
Yeah for an editorially mandated evil arc, Beechen just throwing his hands up and going “ok so Cass can just be her mother for a bit” is…not the worst? In that Shiva was also being sort of weird and actually working heavily with the League of Assassins immediately prior to One Year Later? Like obviously we would all have preferred no evil!Cass arc, but as someone who LOVES Tim and Lady Shiva’s interactions, Cass getting set up in that dynamic with Tim is just good times for me, compared to the many many worse decisions that could have been made. (I don’t LIKE ‘you are fated to become your parents’ as a trope but also it’s SHIVA. Honestly I’d have been more offended if she instead had become a mini-David Cain)
(Especially the bit where Shiva shows up to check on Tim and basically goes “have you seen Cass recently? I care about you both a lot”. Beechen gets their dynamic)
Anyway, Beechen’s run has these good things going for it: a whole bunch of solid characterisation work (aside from you know, Cass); Tim and Bruce actually getting some moments to relate to each other as adoptive family; the villain plots are actually interesting? First time since Dixon left that the average Rogues knocking around a Robin book felt properly scaled again. It feels like it plays with and adapts a lot of the old Dixon status quo in interesting ways. I like the Dodge storyline. Zoanne actually reminds me a lot of Ariana.
Compared to other writers:
Dixon is Dixon (and there ARE no 90s Batfam comics without Dixon, love him or hate him).
Jon Lewis does decent character work but his plots are off the wall, and contain so much more magic than you expect to see in a Robin book. Letting Tim and Steph’s relationship breathe a bit and have them spend some time out of costume together? Necessary character work. The secret homesteading isolationist wrestling club plot? BONKERS. Charaxes clones? BONKERS. PLUS he forgot Janet Drake’s first name AND he wrote the 16th Birthday story (time-travel is NOT illogical to Tim, Tim’s literally best friends with BART ALLEN).
And then you have Bill Willingham, who CAN write, but is hugely uneven on Robin. When he’s on his game things are great. Dark Rider is hilarious, especially in how over him Tim immediately gets. Fresh Blood was a solid team up story. The Dana bits of #134-136 make me highly emotional, though I’m not thrilled about the way she was written out of the story (Issues #134 and #136 are both legitimately solidly written highlights of Willingham’s run). But then he got editorially screwed over by the necessities of War Games, the Johnny Warlock plotline was extremely dull, and it just. kept. going, and then once he was clear of THAT the end of his run devolves into a war plotline which is TOO WEIRD EVEN FOR CHUCK DIXON. Like, Dixon already WROTE a war storyline (the Dava Sborsc plot) and it was 300% better and not just because it contained Lady Shiva, but because Tim was wrestling with actually interesting problems about when is resisting an invasion justified and what actions are acceptable, rather than being in a post-9/11 gun ho invasion. I cannot forgive #147 ending with the “what might happen” moment for One Year Later being… Does Tim join the secret military with right wing fake Captain America? NO. NO HE DOES NOT. NO SHIT, SHERLOCK.

Okay so mixed reviews on the kung fu trio movie. Let's break it down
FIRST.
#1 biggest problem with this movie was their treatment of Ben, especially in flashbacks. I think they blew the "anger issue" thing way out of proportion (ESPECIALLY with the part of the timeline they were working with. On god) and also used that to make him like a "sassy" stereotype or whatever. Like guys thats racist come on. This came out in 2021 we are trying to DEstereotype people why are you applying new ones to characters who already had a stereotyping problem. Oh my god.
Anyways yeah I'll just say in general as a big Ben fan I don't think this movie was really fair to him in that sense, although there are a few moments I do like with him, such as most of the Broze Tiger montage, or when he comforts his student outside his dojo. Also mixed bag on him using 70s slang I think there are times where it was fun and worked and also times where it played into the above which 😡
ALSO on the topic of the 70s!!!!! I LOVED the fact that this movie was set in the 70s and that was acknowledged with style and slang and everything. I thought that was so fun (the sideburns omg) and after seeing it set that way I literally couldn't imagine a movie with them existing that wasn't set then. Like it's literally their era and the era of their genre.
Also all of the KFT had crippling depression, anger, and guilt complexes post 70s so there def would have been issues involved w that
Speaking again about the 70s, I feel like a lot of the other problems I had with the movie could have been solved by taking more plot elements from their precrisis comic.
Like these are more comic accuracy critiques but like why would you have there be a cursed sword (named soul breaker. That's literally two letters off from soultaker like could you be less subtle when ripping off other characters) when you could just be creative and use stuff from the O'Neil series instead. Like the O-Sensei gave Richard Dragon the Dragon's Claw so just have that be your artifact. Or if they really wanted a weapon for Shiva to be the Guardian of just make up a dagger that the Dragon's Claw could combine with and have both get stolen. Like I think there were better ways that plot could have been done.
Also speaking of Shiva I was really bummed that there were 0 Carolyn mentions in this movie, especially when the opportunity was RIGHT THERE. like they literally had a fellow student get killed in flashback to open the demon gate or whatever and instead of having it be Carolyn, for some reason it's Jade Nguyen instead (what is with DC adaptations and randomly inserting Jade with character groups she's not a part of??????). The only good thing from that decision was the absolutely hilarious moment of Jade accusing Shiva of not having what it takes to kill. Like BABE do you know who you are talking to. Most wrong anyone has ever been.
No but like I think killing (or even mentioning) Carolyn would have been a way better choice for the movie, especially in terms of Sandra. Especially because they were trying to do a "Shiva has changed, she's not the girl you knew" thing post-flashback. Like Carolyn's death would have been a PERFECT reason for this. To be fair, it would have made this movie super dark and pretty gory because post Carolyn Shiva is NOT to be fucked with ever but like they were already having people be murdered barehanded (with blood) and mild cursing so like they should have gone for it.
Side note: who was the target audience for these movies??? Like it's animated so you think younger but there's lots of violence and straight up murder by the protagonists (with gore) so like I don't even know.
Anyways yeah they should have killed Carolyn. OR had Shiva's blood relation to the O-Sensei be a thing still. Like listen. If you are going to make a movie based on a 70s comic like don't be afraid to take plot elements from that. Like ik the og comic has been made non-canon like twice by now but who cares. When was the last time the KFT backstory was actually talked about anyways? 2008? Just go for it bro. Make them related for extra drama and also legacy stuff. Shiva his (grand-niece? goddaughter? Idk) being his pride and joy but turning against his legacy into one of violence and blood which Richard, his psuedo-son (at least here. I don't remember the details of their og relationship) instead begins to rise and fill that instead.
Also I think they could have highlighted this shift in terms of Shiva's name. Ben and Richard are really the only people (besides Carolyn, rip Carolyn) she's Sandra to, so I think having her go by that at while training (which they called Nanda Parbat or smth similar btw which ????????? No???????) Would have made her shift into Shiva more meaningful, and their kind of denial of this transofrmation as well, as they continue to call her Sandra occasionally after they reunite. (Bruce would always call her Shiva post-flashback).
Also why did they have Shiva run a gang in Gotham to signify her evil(ish) status. They should have had her doing her normal thing. Like introduce her by having her challenge Batman (not knowing he was Bruce) but then win, stopping and sparing him once she realized their (movie-canon) friendship. That would also give us a cool fight scene out of it too.
Um feel like I covered most of the changes I would make- OH! I actually really liked how they did Richard in this. Which surprised me because he's my least favorite by far and I usually don't like him that much??? I think in canon it's definitely a case of the white guy learns martial arts, beats Asian people at it stereotype. I also just think things get weird and more like racist stereotypes start coming into play in terms of his original canon interactions with Ben, Carolyn, Sandra, etc. So I thought the choice to have him be Asian in this film was a really good one. Also they had him be interesting too. And like kind of cool. Idk this movie and his VA and all that actually made me really enjoy watching Richard Dragon. Which was weird as hell
Idk so mixed feelings on this movie in general. I really liked the premise of making a kung fu trio movie set so deeply in the 70s, I adore that, and I thought the addition of having Batman there and having known them actually worked really well. I'm very glad they did it that way. It obviously helped the movie itself get made and also in my ideal version BATMAN would honestly be the good mental health friend of the group by the end of the movie which is actually wild. Canon KFT trauma you are so insane and compelling to me actually.
My biggest issue with the movie (whose real name is like Batman: Soul of the Sword or something, [edit: it's called Soul of the Dragon] I love how I haven't mentioned it once [it's the kung fu trio movie to ME <3]) was definitely the portrayal of Ben. I'm definitely not suggesting we have him fall into the Black best friend stereotype he suffers from in the 70s comic but like. Just be better with it??? Thought his best moments of the film was where it went into his canon story and struggles and all that so just like. Do more of that idk. Just don't be racist abt it.
Otherwise my main gripes can all generally be summed up to this. When there's a point in a story where it feels like the adaptation has to diverge from canon to tell this story, 9 times out of 10 I believe it can actually be told better by moving closer towards canon, or by consulting a slightly different canon (precrisis vs preboot, etc.) In place of that.

Final Fantasy XVI Part 1 - A World We Want To Live In
Tumblr media
The Eikons are very pretty! I think my favourite is the Phoenix, the colours are very nice. Shiva is very pretty too but after my brother said she's not blue enough, I can't get it out of my head lmao😂 Titan looks like Hugo lol, just a big version of him hahaha. Gotta say Clive's mother is absolutely terrible. The way she discards him so easily is horrible, and she's a traitor. I feel so sad that their father the Archduke died just like that, and it felt terrible to see Clive (I assume he's Ifrit) kill Joshua/Phoenix, that was pretty cruel to have to watch helplessly. I didn't think Jill would be Shiva, but I guess I'm mostly sad that he had to kill Tiamat to protect her, like dude Tiamat could you nottt. Cid looks good. Anyway, Clive protecting Jill, and being ready to die with her was cute. I was wondering if Cid was Ramuh so it's nice to have that confirmation. Assuming from the demo then, Benedikta is Sylph/Siren or something then?
Tumblr media
I found it hilarious how Cid really shouted when he found his scout at Lostwing😂😂 Totally not an infiltration mission where you need to stay low hahaha. I'm not surprised that Cid and Benedikta used to be part of the same kingdom, since it seemed like Benedikta was fond of him in her own way. Cid definitely reminds me of Balthier from FFXII though but an older version that's probably more leader-ish considering all the people he picks up, whereas Balthier likes a bit more freedom imo.
Tumblr media
My bad, so Benedikta is Garuda. I guess I was right to think that Cid and Benedikta were a thing back in the day! Wonder if she'd be willing to come to our side🤔 Anyway, guess we've got a new Eikon power to use! Too bad Benedikta? I'm not sure if I should feel sorry for her because I don't feel like I know enough about her to really be swayed a certain way especially since she followed Barnabas knowing that if she wasn't useful anymore he'd throw her away. I just wonder if Cid told her he was leaving the kingdom when he did, and whether he asked her if she wanted to go with him, because it does sound like she thinks she made the wrong choice so I guess she could have followed Cid but chose not to. I guess she's pitiful. I didn't think she'd die just like that though! And nice to see Ramuh! Although it seems like Cid gets one stop closer to death the more he uses Ramuh's powers. I wonder how Clive will react when he realises he's Ifrit?
Tumblr media
Wow, I didn't expect to see Odin! I really love the look of Odin but who would've thought Barnabas would be the Dominant for Odin lol. As for Bahamut, Dion is cool but Bahamut not really. I hope we get to see Alexander, I still think the FFIX Alexander looked the best so it would be awesome to see what a modern rendition of him would look like. I feel bad for Clive though, he's been chasing after himself all these years thinking of revenge as the only thing to keep him going but then he realises that the one who killed his brother was actually himself. I guess Jill can be his new reason for living? But I wonder if Clive only went out of control because of that hooded guy? I'm so glad Gav didn't die because I was about to riot. The guy was so devoted to helping Clive, I would have been so annoyed if he died for it!
Tumblr media
Omgggg the moogle is so cuteeee, full of fluff! The only negative is that it isn't voiced so we don't get to hear kupo!! Awww Clive and Jill's reunion was pretty cute, it's nice to know that she'll support him whatever happens when they go back to Rosaria. It feels like I'm cheating when I use the accessory that does combos for me haha, but it's so convenient when I'm too tired to really want to play lol. If only it told me what combos the AI is using so I can learn lol. Anyway, gotta love how this game gives you 5 gil like dudeee c'mon lol. Another gripe is what is the point of having a party in this game when you can't use them or tell them to do stuff? You don't equip stuff for them, you don't know what abilities they use, it just feels like such a lonely game. Oh and honestly, equipment in this game doesn't feel very progressive or different because all you do is get higher stats but there's no variation to make you particularly choose one weapon over the other because of other abilities or something, so it's boring.
Tumblr media
Very interesting that I guess Bearers and Dominants all have a curse, or essentially a time limit like a crystal where they can be "used up" as they continue to use their powers, gradually turning them into stone and their body crumbling into dust, that's terrifying. I wonder if Cid is like that? He seems to be having difficulties with his body whenever he uses his powers. I feel sad for Martha and the Abbot's situation though. Martha buys Bearers who are too far gone because she can only afford those that are "useless" and the abbot due to the kindness of his heart uses the medicine Martha buys to take care of these people in their dying moments which is kind but terrible because he's basically surrounded by death with no one to support his well-being as he watches the people he cares for die one by one. Well, yep, Cid is definitely petrifying with that hand🥺 Not surprised that Anabella got far and ended up marrying the emperor but seriously, she's terrible. Lady Hanna/Murdoch's wife surviving and giving Clive his father's clothing was nice, I don't think these Bearers and everyone will live to go to Cid's place though. Going back to Phoenix Gate was nice, not that it looked anything much like what it was before. As for Clive's personal battle with himself, it was interesting and needed I guess in order for him to accept that he's Ifrit. It was sad to see Lady Hanna dead, killed by the Imperials because of Anabella, it was expected but it's sad to think about the life she lived after everything.
Tumblr media
It was really sweet to see Jill and Clive hold hands and tell Cid the answer that they found after returning to Phoenix Gate and how they wanted to build a place where people could live on their own terms instead of just dying on their own terms like Cid has strived for. I guess it's interesting to think that the Mothercrystals which are considered divine to this world are the ones destroying this world and its nature by drawing all the aether or something like their life force from it. I guess that's kinda like how the Dominants work and that's why Dominants eventually succumb to petrification? Quite cute to know that Cid has a daughter that's studying somewhere else. If Gav isn't coming to Oriflamme, I honestly hope he doesn't die, I like him and Clive. I knew Moore village would be cruel but it's sad to see children treating Branded as pets you can just discard and then get a new one. I'm not sure if Clive letting the child know about how Branded also have family will affect anything since I'm sure once she goes home and tells her parents, they'll just brainwash her into thinking that guy was just crazy but yeah. I feel sorry for Tatienne, she felt like this guy was creepy and didn't seem to like him and now she's dead alongside him just because she wanted her comb back??
Tumblr media
Sigh. I agree with Jill, the Mothercrystal was much bigger than I thought, kinda reminds me of the Crystal World in FFIX. I knew Cid would die eventually but I really didn't want it to be so soon😭 At least he died knowing that someone who believed in creating a better chance at life rather than just choosing how you want to die would be able to fulfil his wishes and dreams, I just feel sorry for his daughter and myself because I really liked him haha! Considering how similar Margrace looked to Joshua, it was natural to think that he was actually Joshua, it's just kinda sad but sweet that everything he's been doing was to protect Clive because these things want Clive to be some sort of vessel of theirs? Anyway, five years later and Jill looks exactly the same?? Couldn't they change her hair or at least her clothes lol, I mean Clive can't but she can! Anyway, Clive with a beard looks good, I always thought he looked like a boy from some angles so it's nice to see a more mature look to him now. Playing with Ramuh will be interesting, but knowing that it came from Cid will always be sad, at least Clive is now living as the new 'Cid' protecting Bearers? I wonder how Gav is doing though. Oh wow, the new Hideaway is beautiful and it is a good idea to have it only accessible via boat. It's also a very big place! I didn't even realise Clive's brand was gone lmao, I kinda liked it but very understandable that it's gone now. The story is picking up though so I'm a bit more excited about how everything will go from now on!
Tumblr media
How ironic to have Black Shields as a version of the Shield of Rosaria to kill Bearers rather than protect them. It's sad that the abbot had to die but it was bittersweet to see how grateful the Bearers were to sacrifice the little bit they had left of their lives for him. I'm so glad Ambrosia the white Chocobo from back in the day survived and reunited with Clive. It would be great if the firebrand these people refer to is Joshua going against his mother, I think it's about time! I'm surprised Wade survived! Anyway, I'm glad we're getting more insight towards Jill's past and having her face her past, she's been very supportive towards Clive all this time, it's about time she also got that same support considering how terrible her life must have been as well. Honestly, Jill facing her past was done quite shallowly, nothing of substance was added and I didn't feel like it was as much of a breakthrough as it was for Clive accepting he's Ifrit. I mean, I didn't expect anything grand but I definitely expected more. I can't believeeee Gav ruined their moment for a kiss! It was the perfect time🥲 Guess we should blame Hugo for attacking Rosaria. It's sad to see the poor soldiers get massacred like that because most of the Imperial army is at the Crystalline Dominion so they're left with a measly amount of people. I love the look of the couerl here, might be one of my favourite renditions of it! Torgal the lightning wolf? He looks pretty cool! Not as fluffy anymore but very cool! I'm kinda disappointed that we didn't get to see the actual Titan again because I don't feel like we got see it much but oh well I guess, Hugo was such a life sponge, he just wouldn't dieee hahaha.
Tumblr media
Honestly though, after this, I truly do love Clive and Gav's trust for each other and their interactions, the bromance is great haha! I feel like they understand each other and believe in each other and have each other's backs on a level that's well portrayed considering how much they've been through since the beginning of this game, so I really like them. For now, the game has been all right. The story isn't the most compelling but I do really like some characters and their relationships, well mainly Gav haha and it is nice to explore the world and see how people are living in it. And I'm curious and dying to see more Joshua haha!

Photo and interview of Niki being Niki? 👀
Niki Lauda ask game
This is a fun one. I recently found this interview where Niki claims to be a "dog whisperer." I think you've told me about this before, but I just had to post about it again because I find it hilarious. Anyways, here's a photo of Niki being Niki, "dog whispering" (according to himself) and the interview is below the cut.
Tumblr media
A bit of context: this interview was done by one of Niki's very good friends, Herbert Völker, who wrote many books with Niki including his autobiography. So it's safe to say, there's a good bit of teasing between friends going on, and Niki is characteristically stubborn and annoyed. I love his interviews with friends because it’s more of a casual chat than a formal interview.
Niki is very proud of his skill with dogs. He even confided in me once that he thought he was a dog whisperer.
"What does that mean?"
"I understand dogs, and dogs understand me."
"For example?"
"They follow me even in difficult situations because I can empathize."
"What would that look like?"
"Felix, for example, got his tail stuck in the trunk of the car and…"
"…hold on. Did he close the trunk himself?"
"No, I closed it, but only very gently…"
"which means the big dog whisperer pinched the dog's tail.”
"just a little, and Felix squeaked just a little. Something like this (Lauda squeaks very softly), but after that he never jumped into the car again. Not for anything. He lay down on the floor, turned on his back, showed with every move he made: "I'm not going to jump into that."
"And how did you cope with this incredible situation?"
"I offered him another car. He didn't want to go in there either. But I talked to him for so long and kept giving him treats until he finally jumped in. Now he's doing it again, thank God. And Shivas will jump in anytime."
"Did you pinch his tail as well?"
(Annoyed): "NO."
"All right, all right…"
So much for dogs and how to start a family in the maturity of life.

4. Favourite physical features, for Gisele and Ysayle 💜💙
Tits are at the top of the list, for both of them.
I’m not joking either. Half the reason Gisele’s always wearing corsets and low cut tops is because she knows very well how it drives people wild, but specifically Ysayle. At the first sight of Gisele’s cleavage Ysayle turns into the bi version of that “not to be a lesbian...” tag meme. In general, Ysayle is thirsty af for Gisele’s curves, it’s very much that classic sapphic “do I want her or do I want to be her” situation and the answer is very much “yes”.
And conversely, Gisele thinks Ysayle’s boobs are gorgeous. It doesn’t matter to Gisele that they're smaller than hers; I mean hell, most people’s are smaller than hers, Gisele’s tracts of land are more vast than Garlemald, and Ysayle isn’t exactly small. But Gisele adores them and thinks they’re perfect; if you want to see Gisele get truly hilarious, it’s when Ysayle’s wearing beach wear. She forgets her own name sometimes.
The funny thing is Ysayle was rarely one for risque fashion, until she and Gisele became lovers. Dressing was always about function over form for her, largely because adornment was something she felt was frivolous when she was so focused on her mission, and growing up in Tailfeather with all the rough and tumble trappers it’s not as though she had a ton of role models for being frilly and girly anyway. But she secretly yearned for these things (I hc that Shiva’s appearance was formed entirely from Ysayle’s subconscious ideal), and in some ways being around Gisele so much with her “if you got it, flaunt it” attitude has made Ysayle a lot more comfy embracing that. It helps of course that Gisele’s a Weaver who spoils her rotten with gorgeous clothes. The only thing Gisele enjoys more than dressing Ysayle up in pretty things is slowly taking them off her.
If we’re talking other features, Ysayle is also obsessed with Gisele’s mouth, out of the elfpile she’s by far the one most likely to start randomly kissing Gisele for no reason. And her hair. Dear gods, her hair. Ysayle is very circumspect of course, and respectful of Gisele’s boundaries, but one of her very favorite things to do is to help her braid/twist her hair up at night and on wash days. Of course she wants to make things easier on her but she just straight up likes to play with her curls. Gisele similarly loves Ysayle’s hair and always goes to this sort of zen place when she brushes it.

I wonder if this Disciples event might have some tie-in with the Six Dragons since they did briefly mention the Primarchs in Old Bond. I've seen people theorize that next year's anniversary event might be about whatever that's building up to so I'm very curious.
That could be possible right?
I mean we know the primarches retiring both had the old dragons get out of their slumber and the disciples coming over trying to understand the elements. If anything, it'd tie things up neatly together if the Disciples end up meeting up with the dragons.
I do have some questions though about specifically the "one primal" they're specifically waiting for answer about, because the dragons aren't primals and well mhmmm
but i do think it'd be nice if the disciples met the dragons. It'd make for some neat stories at least.
And oh god. For a long time i liked to picture the disciples with their respective primarches, specifically because i found "extreme loud and talkative" Grimnir being around "the most quiet and stoic of them all" Raphael to be a hilarious image, but now i want to specifically see the trios and see their dynamics.
Like.
Wilnas/Michael/Shiva. From how wise and dignified Shiva can be, similar to Michael who yet is also very "and in case diplomacy doesn't work i have a gun." and then Wilnas, mister happy go lucky.
Wamdus/Gabriel/Europa would have a mostly calm dynamic, they're all a little mischievous but they're mostly calm and i can see Wamdus get along with the duo Gabriel and Europa already make very easily.
Galleon/Uriel/Alexiel is a wild card as a trio considering Uriel originally disliked the fact Alexiel basically wouldn't leave him alone the moment she decided to learn from him, but they both seem stubborn and determined where Galleon is more laid back.
But yeah anyway post especially brought up by how chaotic Wind would be with Ewiyar/Raphael/Grimnir. Raphael being the only one with an useful braincell. Grimnir as loud as ever who is also completely playing with Ewiyar just because the cat is demanding it. Raphael being more and more tired.
now i kinda want those "three generations" of elemental rulers to meet that would be fun as hell.
But we shall see..

being spiritual while also being mentally ill is really stressful, and you cant like talk to someone whos athiest bc they'll just call you crazy and you cant talk to a neuroptyical spiritual person bc usually they're more comservative than you and they think for some reason their connection to their beliefs/religion/gods/whatever is more normal than yours. someone else said this that i didnt think wanted ppl to rb but its like. how do you know if you're not just like seers of yore who saw "visions" relevant to your spirituality or if you're just someone hallucinating?? at what point is the boundary made between how we communicate with our gods or spirits and who can and cant communicate with them? at what point do we decide to distrust the voice in our head we've been assinging to this entity? does he only speak to us in simple, formal phrases? is that more normal than me wanting to talk with him like a friend? do i pretend im not hearing and seeing the things i am bc its different to people? do i just assume im insane and im just going insane? what if its all real, what if its all fake, and how tf am i supposed to find out? how am i supposed to navigate everything thats happend and everything thats been happening and all of these *coincidences* in a "normal" way when nothing im seeing seems to be normal, but obviously trying to talk to anyone about this feels impossible. it just feels like people will always use the fact that im mentally ill to dismiss me and my connection to my beliefs but then its weird to me when its other spiritual or religious ppl dismissing me bc how can they say they're more normal about it anyways, like babe either way athiests think we're crazy lol, shunning me wont change that.
#ig ill post this whatever#clearly ive stopped trying to pretend everything is fine and normal so idc anymore anyways. im tired#mood#anyways shivas hilarious#whether its real shiva or me being *crazyyy* is whatever to me#i mean our gods are all within us anyways. why tf cant i talk to him like my friend? why tf should i assume its not him?#its like ita gott be either or- either no one can cmunicate w their gods even though they're within you bc thats 'strange' and 'something a#mentally ill person would do' or we CAN communicate w our gods and i have no idea why my communication would be any less legit#like guys im melting over here about the things going on and how VIBRANTLY he seems to be communicating w me#and HAS BEEN. for a LONG TIME it seems. even before i knew literally ANYTHING ABOUT HIM#how tf does all of this happen and then im supposed to pretend its not real?#athiests will always dismiss and doubt me but this shit makes my brain go fucking nuts bc of how it all just *happened*#idk. i just wanna know why#why i get these visions and get to be a 'seer' of sorts and then live in a world thathat treats me like im crazy#'shamans' can travel through the otherworld but i cant be a seer clearly bc of x reason#some priests apparently have a direct link to god but no average person can ig and especially not a dirty goth heathen like me#i just want to talk to someone who wont judge me for it all.#i have thoth as an egyptian sign. i have the magician as a card that represents me. i have a jaguar day sign which apparently makes me more#likely to be a wizard or whatever. i have libra moon in both of my charts which symbolizes balance to me#it just seems like im being told that im some sort of Magic Man who can see shit#at what point is it real and at what point is it fake#at what point am i reading into things when everything thats happened happened naturally#i just feel like im going insane but it all seems to real and then when i doubt it something else pops up to prove to me its real#and i keep doubting myself only bc of how other people would see me if i embraced everything#but i dont think shivas gonna let me doubt myself outta this one boys lol#anyways imma crawl back into my hole and hope i rot and die knowing i cant bc id just be reincarnated anyways w the same issues#or get a stern lecturing after death about how i shouldnt deny my 'gifts' just bc of other ppl lol#idk but the scavengers are gonna love picking this piece of meat off my body so have at it w your screenshots you empathy lacking freaks

In case you were wondering, I did finish season 7 the other day, I just can’t bring myself to start season 8 yet so I’m reading some cliche romance manga for now
#mina watches the walking dead#i didn't hate this season finale but i didn't love it either....last 11 minutes or so are pretty cool though#the scenes with sasha inside the coffin and the flashbacks with abraham were...unintentionally hilarious to say the least#i get the feeling they wanted them to be emotional and all but i just thought those bits were so weird#also liked shiva eating a savior's face off because who doesn't want to see those bitches mauled to death#show went to shit since they showed up so of course i want them all gone#and to be clear: no i didn't hate the season 6 finale because of the so called mystery and having to wait and all that#nope i'm watching this years after all that fiasco happened so i could see the ''''reveal''' right away#i hate it because all they do the whole episode is drive around and then the saviors keep showing up in ways that make you wonder if they#either teleport or know telepathy or have maps memorized or something equally stupid#and then negan appears and he talks a long ass time and his dialogue seems to be written by some edgy teen#and then comes the ending which is obviously amc trying to stretch this stupid arc as much as they can because money babeeeeey#and the author of the comics had the audacity to be mad at the fan response! saying he actually pushed for more cliffhangers because#the comics usually end up in cliffhangers! and i wonder if this bitch understands that usually you don't wait around a year between#issues of a comic book or if he's too stupid to realize than tv is a whole different thing hmm#but anyway at least the season 7 finale was more enjoyable and stuff actually happened

Watched in April 2021
Songs My Brothers Taught Me Shiva Baby My First Summer Summerland Chungking Express (重慶森林) Fallen Angels (墮落天使) Han Gong-ju (한공주) Eagle Vs. Shark
Okay films
Eagle Vs. Shark (Taika Waititi, 2007): This was pretty funny but not hilarious and I am still pissed off that the woman, who is awkward but ultimately a nice person, stays with the asshole guy who already hurt her
Han Gong-ju (한공주, Lee Su-jin, 2013): I watched this because it was on Mubi and I did read the summary but nothing said it was going to be about sexual abuse and I am pissed off about that, too. It’s good and it makes a good point but I still think it was way too explicit. Definitely this month’s film that fucked me up.
Films I liked
Shiva Baby (Emma Seligman, 2020): Everyone seemed to be talking about this so I had to see it. It is a very good comedy
My First Summer (Katie Found, 2020): A very sweet story of two very different Australian girls who meet during the course of their seventeenth summer
Summerland (Jessica Swale, 2020): I was somehow misled by Tumblr gif sets into believing that this was mainly a lesbian love story. And it certainly is that, but it is also the story of a friendship between an independent, somewhat grumpy woman in the countryside, and a young boy evacuee from London, during the Second World War. Very cool film regardless, always here for those kinds of stories that need to be told more
Favourites of the month
Songs My Brothers Taught Me (Chloé Zhao, 2015): This might be my favourite Chloé Zhao film although I don’t really know what to say about it except that it is beautiful and moving and pitch-perfect
Chungking Express (重慶森林) and Fallen Angels (墮落天使) (Wong Kar-Wai, 1994 and 1995): I watched these two within twenty-four hours of each other so it’s hard to separate them in my mind, but it doesn’t matter much because I loved them both. Maybe especially Chungking Express? Anyway I’m very glad that Mubi is having a lot of Wong Kar-Wai films these days because I really need to see all of them.
*
It was hard to pick favourites because I saw so much good stuff in April. Also rewatched Banshee Chapter, which I loved just as much as the first time. Hoping to see more Wong Kar-Wai, amongst other stuff, in May!

sped through s3 of lok yesterday
plusses:
best action scenes honestly in the whole damn series
zaheer’s cohort is fun, they’re unique, they’re cool as hell, p’li and her short king comrade are cute (yes, i too would date p’li if i had the chance, in case you were wondering what my type was)
zaheer himself is fascinating because he’s like. brutal. but he’s still very human. and clearly has some underlying ethos and motive.
i love the suyin & lin stuff. if only because toph had one kid who has the nous not to become a cop. (suyin said acab then became the most bougie motherfucker it’s such a funny development)
EARTH QUEEN DOWN (that scene... holy shit that scene)
mako and bolin’s family. cute.
mako navigating korra and asami now he’s not dating them. hilarious. almost as if he has a character now.
the way it stokes the tension in the first few episodes is amazing
the show grapples with the idea that bending =/= culture, and that whatever is rebuilt/built can never really be the same as the original air nomads (because genocide is part of that history now, because some things just have been lost, because the new airbenders come from very different cultures with different philosophies and ethics and so on). i don’t think it grapples with this theme particularly well or in depth but it touches on it for sure.
someone other than korra gets beaten up for once
major minuses:
really wish they’d cut out the offensive third eye/shiva-inspired design of combustion benders with p’li.
in case you thought korra wasn’t going to get beaten up this season... nope... the amount of suffering and pain she goes through in the final third of the season continues to be gratuitous, and somehow this season makes that worse
genuinely thought it was really shocking to the extent of being... unbelievable, actually, that zaheer would use the new airbenders as bait and potential collateral. like, we know zaheer has tremendous respect for guru laghima and certain aspects of air nomad philosophy. and we know that threatening to kill tenzin’s cohort of airbenders is not the same as threatening, say, an earth kingdom village - it constitutes genocide. i don’t know why this wasn’t even mentioned, or considered, or why zaheer wouldn’t be opposed to that, ethically.
on the same note i think the destruction of the northern air temple was really shocking again, for similar reasons, and the fact that this wasn’t mentioned or treated as part of an act of genocide, the destruction of sacred cultural spaces & artefacts and objects, really felt like a failing.
the rest of my minuses are far more minor. i thought ‘the original airbenders’ was a predictable and boring episode. i still thought they leant too much into bolin being a total dumbass. why was zuko even there?? (i had some memory of him being at the final battle which... turned out to be completely wrong lol). i sometimes felt that the pacing wasn’t quite right. i also felt that zaheer’s anarchism was still the depiction of an anarchist by someone who only has a surface understanding of anarchism. president raiko deserved to be slapped in the face.
anyway it was a fairly mixed experience? some great highs, but also lots of it fell flat, i still found myself thinking ‘god that dialogue is stupid’ although less than s1 and s2. imo a lot better than s2.

thoughts on the various robins (last one for now)
ALRIGHT. LETS BREAK EM DOWN:
Dick - LOVE this boi, LOVE his time as robin. but also just love the 60s camp so thats what i think of when i think of robin!dick ANYWAYS SO GLAD he got to grow up but we shall never forget this lil pixie booted, scaly booty short wearin kid was the FIRST fjdals;

Tim - i think its Neat that he didnt even Think abt being robin, just abt trying to convince Dick to come back into it and that he DOESNT want to be batman and that its fuckin hilarious that every time DC tries to push it on him, they also make it the product of the Worst Timeline like fjkdlsa; anyways @ dc let him retire from superheroing before he’s 25 thanks. this boy just wanted to be enough to keep batman from killing himself fjdjlfka;
Steph - ALSO A GOOD ROBIN. I’LL FIGHT BATMAN MY DAMN SELF IF I HAVE TO. did NOT deserve to be fired and did NOT deserve half the bullshit that the narrative put her through. she WORKED for her damn place in Gotham crimefighting and she damn well DESERVES that recognition dammit. also should be robin for longer than like two months jfkdls that turnover rate is TOO DAMN SHORT.
Dami - omg he was such a brat at first (& i loved it) and the fact that he got that GROWTH oooooof. im gonna ignore like. all of his time with the titans from here on out tho & pretend it doesnt exist bc it sucks lbrhh. also i dont want to know anything at all abt his whole ‘quitting’ robin thing. plz dont ever burden me with what that mess entails. not for a good long while at least. not till we know what DC intends to do with him. im so scared for him yall
Duke - was IN FACT a robin & the fact that so few ppl recognize that is TRAGIC. all of those we are robin kids got Dick’s blessing and thats ALL that matters when a robin puts on the colors so yall BETTER start respecting him. and also follow my duke blog so yall can learn more about him dammit. hes such an interesting character!!!!!!!
Bonus:
Carrie - LOVE HER. another pixie booted, scaly booty short wearing gremlin whomst i WILL fight and die for. only good thing Miller ever did and even then i dont want to give him full credit for her fjkld;a anyways i love her and have decided that in the future her batman is actually Cass there’s the door if you dont agree, thanks for playing lmao
anyways In Conclusion, there’s no such thing as a bad robin and theyre all great and obvsly i know some of them better than others rn, but i love them all and i know that there’s like, at least 5 more that are out-of-canon that i cant even get to right here (bc it would just be summed up as ‘ive heard of them and theyre MY robin now’) but yeah! LOVE ROBINS. ALL OF THEM ARE ADORABLE AND WONDERFUL
