Diasomnia time!

Yes, Lilia is a cheater. Anyway-

Noivern is just a given, and I’m not entirely sure what Gliscor is, I’m sure that it’s obvious, but it’s bat-like enough for me and suits him better than something Crowbat or smth. Grimmsnarl is both a dark type and fairy type, plus it does fit him well so yea. Both Tinkaton and Bewear are cute yet could easily kill you. Also I saw a cute fanart of Lilia with a Tinkaton once, so I had to give him one. Kangaskhan bc Lilia is also a parent and Sneasler bc I wanted to give Lilia a Hisuan pkmn and I thought Sneasler fit him

Thoughts: electric and fairy pkmn. Along with normal and fighting types bc of the half-human thing and him being a guard for Malleus. Zebstrika bc equestrian club (and also that fanart of Sebek calling his Zebstrika a Unovian Rapidash?? I love him and that fanart) Manectric bc electric plus it just suited him. Mawile bc I wanted a fairy type and idk. Just wanted to give him another fairy type. Granbull bc it’s a fairy type that doesn’t look like one and I thought that it just reminded me of him!! Gallade, like I said, is bc of the fact that Sebek is one of Mal’s guards, and finally he has an Eevee that still hasn’t evolved yet. It just doesn’t want to choose!

Some pretty easy picks for him. Musharna and Shiinotic due to his narcolepsy, Galarian Rapidash bc of equestrian club, Aegislash bc just like Sebek, Silver’s one of Mal’s guards (plus Silv is partially based on the sword that kills Maleficent, or at least, is theorized to be) and Floette bc fairy type and it gives me his vibes. I will say that I’d want it to have a purple flower (though I do not think those exist in canon pkmn) bc I associate three different twst characters with the same flower, and so each of them has to have a different coloration of the flower, and Silver gets the purple poppy. Driftloon is there bc I’ve seen people give him one and I think it’s a funny idea, so I gave him one too

Malleus actually hates us/j

But fr, I once saw someone give him 12 pkmn, and, yeah. Mal would be the kind to do that. I did only give him 11 tho! So, not as bad! (Unless he pulls a Volo and has Giratina pull out it’s original form, then yeah, 12 pkmn, but oh well-)

My thoughts: d r a g o n & legendaries. + Porygon bc of his tomodatchi. Oh and Florges bc of Maleficent’s thorn + queen stuff. And I like to associate Mal with black poppies, but again, I don’t think that coloration exists in pkmn? Just imagine, okay? (Maybe I should’ve given Ortho a white Flebebe lol) Cresselia Does Not want to be on Mal’s team I feel. Maybe if this AU had an actual plot line then I’d be able to say that during Malleus’s rampage, Cresselia changes teams. The only other thing I have to say is that I chose Zekrom bc 1) lightning and 2) Zekrom’s theme is ideals. So, yeah. Plus color coding! How wonderful it worked out that way!

As a bonus, I did give everyone else a legendary too, for again, hypothetical plot line reasons

Yuu would have Reshiram, representing truth and inversing Malleus’s Zekrom, Lilia has Lunala bc of the fae of the night thing, it suits him, and I once saw someone give him one. Zacian for Silver bc 1) again, he’s probably based on the sword and 2) he matches with Sebek’s Zamazenta. Also, I once saw someone say that they hc Sebek to be partially based off of the shield, and I Love That?? So yeah. (This is also why I didn’t give Cresselia to Silver instead of Malleus)

Anyway, yeah.

Type-specialist teams for the Blur/Blight guys!

Hilbert (Fire);

Emboar + Armarouge are shiny for blue flames, since blue is his main color!

His Mega Evolving mon in canon is Absol (Houndoom belongs to Grimsley), but it also fits Hilbert since he's associated with dogs! Also, Talonflame because Hilbert needs to have a flying type (like Braviary) always with him; his "wings" before he earns Reshiram's respect. Volcarona mainly because of its royal imagery- and he has one as Hero of Truth, Ludwig.

Cheren (Fairy);

Was debating with either water or fairy, but I think fairy ultimately fits since he has incarnations (like Vessel) who are scared of water.

Anyway, mostly motifs. Sylveon for rabbit/ribbon/mediator, Primarina because its a water-type that sings, Togekiss because its an angel (Togetic looks more like Slater though), Audino because its a healer + his assigned Mega Evo that fits this typing (canonically its Lopunny) + its shiny colors are Vessel's colors, Scream Tail for the vampire motif + Jigglypuff (who it may be related to) is associated with singing and sleep, and Magearna for doll and heart motif.

Bianca (Grass);

Was debating between grass and psychic- but Nikolai is more psychic than steel, and Bianca's more grounded, in a way- and she's more in touch with the earth and nature, so she gets grass!

Lurantis for flower motif + shiny because its her colors! Gourgeist also has a singing motif like her, as well as being from Kalos. Arboliva looks out for other Pokemon by sharing what it has, Abomasnow is her assigned Mega (its Audino in canon), Cradily because she's a scholar + aspiring historian + has connections with Lenora, so she's definitely unearthed a couple of fossils in her spare time!

Though she isn't a time traveler, she gets Celebi because, out of all the party, she is the one that makes the most impact throughout history, even when she herself is unknown (like a mythical Pokemon).

Hilda (Fighting);

Falinks because it works in a group (Hilda's Lonely nature; she prefers working with her friends, even if she can work alone), Infernape because she needs a fire/fighting (alluding to her Simisear), Medicham is her assigned Mega in canon, Bewear because she does like cute Pokemon + its a mascot; kind of like how she's one for Gear Station and Nimbasa City as a whole, Pangoro because it matches her temperament and sense of justice, and Iron Valiant to allude her status as The Warrior of Truth, who ruled over the kingdom of Unova once the heroes abandoned the throne + alluding to her connection with Nikolai.

Also, Infernape and Iron Valiant are shiny to match her palette better; the latter specifically highlights the pinks!

Nate (Electric);

Nate's canon Mega is Ampharos, but its Manectric here to connect with his Hoenn roots + his mom has a Manectric! Vikavolt because he needs a bug-type (second favorite type), Toxtricity because of his """association with music""" (he yells and screams and makes loud noises), Lanturn because of its star motif (referred to as a deep sea star; with Cheren's water and drowning motif, Nate is his star/light that guides him out <3), Togedemaru for its unsuspecting appearance (and also spiky like his hair; hence why its brown), and of course. Zekrom, his assigned legendary as The Hero of Ideals.

I initially wanted to give him a Pachirisu for "underdog" purposes (he is squirrelcore to me; and also because of the Pachirisu during the World Championships), but he already has a pure electric!

Hugh (Dark);

He gets a dark typing due to his association with the Purrloin line + he becomes Giima's successor in Blur/Blight! A lot of his Pokemon are fairly easy to explain;

Liepard is self-explanatory (shiny because its his palette), and by extension, Chien-Pao is there because its a cat- and speaking of Chien Pao (swords), it matches well with Hisuian Samurott, who also has a sword motif- alluding to him being the Warrior of Ideals, despite his relic being a shield. Additionally, Oshawott is his starter!

Tyranitar is his assigned Mega in canon due to him specializing in sandstorms. Finally, Morpeko, like with Hilda's Pangoro, is because of his temperament- and also because its associated with the little sister of a dark type specialist. I think he and Piers would get along well.

Also Overqwil. You Know.

Rosa (Flying);

Rosa's Swanna is her starter + main Pokemon in Blur/Blight, and shows up more than everyone else's Pokemon because its always attached to her back! Noivern, like Nate's Toxtricity, is meant to allude to her loud nature (and also, their names being resonance/resonate; which fits well for a bat Pokemon).

Jumpluff because of her carefree spirit as both herself and The Scholar of Ideals (pink to refer to her original palette; but also she wears a bit of pink on her), Bombirdier because of her.. mischief, Landorus being her assigned legendary, and Pinsir being her assigned Mega because of its ability, Aerilate- which give her an advantage as a flying-type specialist.

N (Normal);

His are a little hard to explain, but! N doesn't have a canon Mega; Lopunny is Cheren's, but for the sake of this teambuilding, he gets Mega Lopunny; which fits since its a forest animal = N was found in a forest by Ghetsis. Initially, it was Mega Kangaskhan, but he already has a pure normal in the form of Terapagos- a Pokemon that can bring people of different timelines together, something that alludes to his role as The Priest, the one who sees the past and future.

Sawsbuck and Zoroark are his assigned Pokemon in Blur/Blight constantly, especially Sawsbuck! Pyroar for the "king" motif, and female Indeedee because its more focused on defense and support.

Nikolai (Psychic);

Already explained some of these but; Beheeyem is his ace/partner, Orbeetle because of the mad scientist motif + he likes bugs, Hatterene and Delphox for witch motifs + Hatterene matches his stoic personality and how he easily gets overwhelmed by the emotions of others, and Gardevoir (not Gallade this time) is his Mega- its the village sentry.

Taking his Metagross' place is Jirachi- a Pokemon that grants wishes, something he desperately needs; someone to answer his prayers.

Aaaaah I was hoping I'd get this question with all the pokemon talk!!

Aesthetic-wise, Sparrow would be going for normal type pokemon; I imagine she would be like, an interim gym leader taking the mantle after the previous leader (Evaethi of course) left. I'm thinking her main roster are pokemon like Ursarang, Sawsbuck, Bewear, Oranguru--basically really large, intimidating-looking pokemon that hit like a truck.

However, her actual favorite pokemon would be a phantump she found while traveling that she took into her care. It never fights, but it's always on the sidelines with her, floating right behind her or curled in her arms. I feel like considering Phantump's origins Sparrow would be highly protective.

🪤 What is one thing that could be used to lure your OC into a trap?

Just threatening loved ones or people she feels responsible for in general. She'll probably realize it's a trap, and she'll go anyway, because trying to circumvent or avoid the trap would not be worth harming those who are threatened.

🐁 Capybaras are friend-shaped. What shape does your OC have?

Sparrow's shape is small and spiky--hard to hold, easy to miss!

A complete list of all the Pokemon puns I can think of

(inspired by the puns I wrote in this post)

Be warned: there's an Oshawott of puns here, and some of them might be a bit Farfetch'd.

I've had all day to Panpour over my books to find these puns.

Personally, I think this one is Swellow.

Be careful what you wish for. You Magnemite get it.

Making puns about owl Pokemon is a real Hoothoot.

I was going to make a joke about cat Pokemon, but I guess I'll keep my Meowth shut.

Unova's grass starter Pokemon is really Servine good looks. It really is the Serperior starter.

But we don't have time to Dwebble on that.

I woke up feeling Krabby today. I'm also a bit Drowzee, too. Next time, I'll try to get some more sleep so my mind is completely Tranquill.

I've been discovering a lot of puns that were previously.... Unown.

But it hasn't been easy. In fact, you might say it's been Wigglytuff.

I've admired all of you since my first Pikachu (peek at you). I was going to Raichu a letter to show how much I appreciate you, but I think my appreciation is already Eevee-dent.

Still, there's no Shaymin having a little fun.

I hope someone has the same Salamence of humor as I do!

last fight for Gladion!

Crobat be his lead. Nuzzle it, switch to Cery, Crobat got wings. Cinnabar to come out, and... he switches into Lucario? don't see the game do that often. and it's easy to see why, that's uh. that's a sweep from there.

all right, jump right back in. Cinnabar lead, this is mostly a test for the Lucario... seems like it's gonna be 149 speed? faster than all but one, so... i think i have a Chople Berry... yep yep, put that on Vermilion. while i'm here, give Cerulean a Soft Sand, i think this'll do now.

third verse, same Cinnabar start, aaaand he doesn't switch out his Crobat this time. i spent too long trying to make it work, but calling it early.

fourth up. lets try a Viridian lead for Cotton Spore. she can get some good hits in before going down, NOW Cinnabar, Spore- he switches into Lucario now. i got no mementum to switch, so... Energy Balls until KO. Vermilion can come out and Nuzzle it comfortably with a Chople berry. 30 HP left still, good lord, Struggle Bug and no para. Cerulean to come out and EQ it... no KO, no para, but Cerulean does live the Aura Sphere here! and it can Quick Attack for the KO too. no paras at all, unlucky. Saffron can come out, and her Earth Power can finish it off for the first time, but the team is on its last legs.

Silvally, too, outspeeds the Smeargle left, and it's new fire Multi-Attack overpowers whatever is left. dang. Gladion's tougher than i expected. his AI is actually good too, so this is particularly rough. i think... unfortunately, no, i don't think my Smeargle, as they are now, can take him on actually. this is what Lusy could've done to me if her Bewear didn't have Pain Split. if he led with the Lucario, this'd be doable. if he switched in Lucario on Viridian, not Cinnabar, this'd be doable, but i think it's just a little not in my favour to win.

a disappointing spot to end tonight on, especially when i only need to grind, you know, three or so levels for half the Smeargle anyways for a reasonable re-evaluation, if Vermi was level 61 instead of 58, this could be different. oh well i guess. more grinding the axes known as Smeargles for me. my laptop got some updates to restart over, i don't want it to do that during fest and all. speaking of, have a good fest this weekend, y'all!

One Day Of The Year

Pokemon: Ash, Team Rocket, Guzma

---------------

Sunny Alola is full of cheer as always. Ash is running around with Pikachu, training. However, today is a little different for a certain Team Rocket.

In the all familiar forest, James and Meowth pace around with worry in their secret base at the home of Bewear. The new Team Rocket members had no idea what was wrong.

James stopped pacing as soon as he heard Jessie come down stairs. She was dressed a bit different from her usual uniform. She wore monochrome clothes with a dull hue. She didn’t acknowledge anyone as she passed them, completely out of it and in her own head. I wonder what she’s thinking?

“Hey Jessie!”, Meowth pipes up as a nervous grin.

She barely hummed in response.

“Do you want to go shopping?”

“...”

“How about we go walk around town and-....”

“...”

“....”

James and Meowth looked at each other for a minute and nodded.

“We’re...going to go over there.”

James and Meowth walked a few feet away from Jessie. They know why she’s like this, but they can’t stop from worrying.

Later they said nothing as they watched her slowly walk out of the tree hollow with a somber revalery.

“Should we follow her?”

“If would be for the best, to make sure she doesn’t get disturbed.”

So they follow her from a distance.

Guzma was feeling a little lonely and decided to mess that Ash kid again.

“Oh yeah, I’m bad!”

Ash was having a normal day, training with Pikachu and having lots of fun! They decided to go get something to eat at the farmers market after training so hard. They were hungry. Suddenly, Ash spots a woman that looked familiar. He thought so hard trying to figure out who she was, he head steamed. Then he looked at her hair.

Her face wasn’t covered and her clothes were normal, but her hair made him vaguely recognize her. He couldn’t figure it out and decided to ask her.

Ash was stopped though, by a James and Meowth.

“Wait!”

“Don’t do it kid!”

“Huh? Team Rocket! What are you doing here?”

Guzma spotted that Ash kid with some tacky looking guy and a meowth. He decided to hide a bit and wait for an opening to make a dramatic entrance.

He was not prepared for what he was about to overhear.

“Quiet down, pipsqueak! Jessie might hear you!”

Ash looked at him confused.

“What’s so bad about that?”

“Jessie isn’t herself today, so can you leave her be and tell those other twerps to do the same?”

“Why should I? What’s wrong with her? Is she okay?”

“We are not at liberty to say, so just scram.”

Ash huffed and crossed his arms, Pikachu copying him.

“I’m not leaving until you tell me why!”

Guzma had inched closer, getting curious about what they’re talking about.

James and Meowth share another glance and once again nodded. James leaned in closer and covered one side of his face with his hand.

“You didn’t hear it from us, but today is the day....”

“The day her mom died, or at least disappeared.”, Meowth finished with a hushed tone.

“Wha-”

“Shush! We’ll tell you if you promise to listen and not bother her!”

Ash nodded.

Guzma tensed up at this revelation. He looked at the woman they were talking about. She had an unnerving blank look on her face.

“Jessie’s mom was one of the greats of our evil team rocket organization. She was the first to make contact with legendary pokemon,Mew.”

“Woah....”

“Yeah, amazing right? But right after that, there was an avalanche and no one has seen her since. Jessie was really young at the time. She had to go into foster care. They were really poor, so poor that she had to eat snow. She liked to pretend it was actual food.”

“That’s sad....”

“Oh but that’s a happy memory. Her mom thought her that. She looks fondly back when she was starving and shaped the snow into food like her mom use to do.”

“Jessie’s mom loved her so much that she’d talk about jessie all the time.”

“She probably enlisted in Team Rocket because she wanted to provide for Jessie even if she couldn’t stay with her all the time while doing missions.”

Ash stayed quiet and looked at Jessie’s distant form.

Guzma tighten his fist by his side. He listened more as he continued to observer her.

“Jessie doesn’t talk about it often, especially when it’s her birthday.”

“But don’t be mistaken, she loves her birthday, she just talk about the sad stuff when it’s her birthday.”

“Anyways, she’s just not feeling it today, so can you and your twerpy friends agree that when you see her, you won’t bother her?”

“And also don’t tell them. It’s bad enough we shared it with you and you’re a twerp, we don’t want those other brats to go easy on us because of a sad story. We are the notorious Team Rocket, we fight evilly and with all our might.”

Ash smiled, “Of course, I’ll do just that.”, Pikachu agreeing.

“Great!”

“But I got to ask, why is she walking around if it’s not a good day?”

“Well, she always saves up parts of her paychecks to send to the Foster care facility on this day. Most of the time she sends it with a card.”

“Today is a little different. She’s been thinking about doing a video call with them and talking with the kids there, but.... well....she’s nervous. She doesn’t want to start crying in front of the people that raised her and the kids that call her big sister.”

“She saves up? Usually you guys don’t have any money when I see you.”

The rocket boys sweat.

“The money she saves up never gets touched, she refuses to pend it even if it means we end up starving.”

“She doesn’t want those kids to go hungry like she did. Sure, she looks fondly back to the times she’s made snow food- feeling closer to her mom when she does, but she knows she’d still be hungry and that snow can’t actually fill her up.”

“It’s kind of one of the reasons she always eats a lot and spends until we got nothing left. She didn’t have that kind of stuff when she was little.”

“It’s also one of the reasons she’s got a strong personality. No one pushes her around and gets away with it after all.”

Guzma has had enough snooping and takes one more look at the Jessie lady, she’s staring at them. She sees him too. They share a resonating look.

He runs off.

Sometime later, Guzma was compelled to check up on Jessie and saw her sitting on a rock, overlooking the ocean.

She turns to him and stares. He stares back before sitting next to her.

They say nothing.

----------------------------------

Jessie, with the coaxing of Guzma, makes the video call.

When she gets home, she’s back to her brash self.

In her room, sat a box with the Rocket logo on it. She didn’t know who gave it to her and it doesn’t say. Inside is an old photo of her mother and some cookies.

⚔️ Pokémon Sword Nuzlocke (Part 5) ⚔️

Took a few days off from playing because depression

Part 4 is here.

Let’s move forward, getting down to the nitty gritty!

Route 9

Very well designed Route I like how it branches off into different parts and it’s part water/part land.

I already caught a Mareanie here in part 4 so just gonna plow through some trainer battles.

That was pretty easy, now on to my least favorite part for the entire game - Spikemuth.

Spikemuth

Marnie is easy but god dammit her stupid Morpeko always gets flinches with Bite and it’s annoying as hell. Then she lands a crit with bite and nearly knocks out GurrenLagann, and flinches a forth time in a row 🤬. Luckily I hyper potioned that turn so it didn’t knock me out. I switched to SpicyNoodle and one shotted her ass with Bug bite.

Spikemuth is literally a hallway. I hate it. It’s so uninspired and I can tell the developers were running out of time when making it. Would it kill them to delay the next generation of games? I mean really, we’ll all wait if it means a finished product..

Team Yell isn’t even a villain “team” they’re literally just obnoxious gym trainers.....so much wasted potential. And they’re not even like funny obnoxious like Team Skull, they’re just straight up cringe. Also what’s with the Kantonian Mr. Mime? Feels very out of place...

Gym Challenge 7 - Piers

Piers has a cool design I guess. I definitely wasn’t prepared to lose Witch Bitch this battle though. Malamar used Foul Play got a critical hit and one shotted her....I don’t wanna talk about it 😭

Death aside, I now have the Dark Badge.

Route 9

Back on route 9 a somewhat interesting development in the plot...only to be told to ignore it and let the champion handle it off screen. 🙃

Gotta continue the gym challenge, it’s the most important thing!

Hammerlocke

More cutscenes about the world ending, but don’t worry the gym challenge is the most important thing!! They really rushed the end of this story line....

I trained up a bit in the Wild Area and now it’s time for the final Gym Challenge.

Gym Challenge 8 - Raihan

I like the double battle format, it’s a nice switch up and doubles are my preferred format. It’s odd to me it’s not the official battle format in the games given that it’s used in VGC...

Pretty easy battle. I now own the Dragon Badge.

Some more cutscenes about the world ending but don’t worry - the championship is the most important thing!

Heading back to the wild area to catch Pokémon from the last two areas I haven’t been.

Wild Area - Lake of Outrage

My first encounter was a Braviary but I had no choice but to kill it as it was doing too much damage to waste time catching it.

Wild Area - Axew’s Eye

While I’ve been to this area before to get a Tart Apple for Wormy, I didn’t try to catch a Pokémon as I thought they were too high level. I was wrong. My first encounter was a Diggersby 😅

Himbo - (Diggersby) Lv. 37!

Naughty Nature; Alert to sounds!

Now that I’ve trained up some and completed catching in the wild area it’s time to head north for a Wyndon.

Route 10

Petition to bring back victory road please? Route 10 is at least better than Mt. Lanakila in Moon, but still.

Mr. Mime is my first encounter here, and a female Mr. Mime at that. Perfect as a psychic will help me out in the battle with Eternatus later. RIP Witch Bitch. 😭 Welcome to the team Trans Rights!

I do some more training throughout the route and the wild area to level up Trans Rights, he evolves!

Wyndon

After some more training in the wild area I’ve finally reached Wyndon and the league matches.

First battle is Marnie. Turns out Mr. Rime is a great counter to her team despite being mostly dark types. I demolish Marnie and move on to the next round.

Hop is as easy as he always is...

So, the whole “omg Leon is gonna miss our dinner” plot point is soooo lame like...we’re really gonna storm a building cause he’s late for dinner? Hop is extra af 😂. And Oleana is like “no one can disturb my boss but I’m giving the key to this guy...you’ll never find him.” Uhm????

So now I gotta battle this guy like 3 times for a key to a storm a building....cause Leon is late for dinner? Wtf is the point of this part??? The bad writing would be easier to overlook if I wasn’t battling in a white void the whole time cause backgrounds are too hard to make for a AAA home console game..

I’m sorry but like how does Leon missing a dinner affect the championship the next day in anyway??? This part is so stupid 😂😭

Okay but really what was the point of that entire part? We get to the top of the tower and Leon is just like “oh yeah, let’s go get dinner” like who even wrote this??

I’m calling it a night after that. I remember the story being really bad but wow....that was awful and I can think of so many other ways to actually develop Chairman Rose into a villain. I know this is a kids game so I’m not expecting much here. The story in Sun and Moon was pretty solid imo, and i wish I could say “well they did so much more with this game” to justify the bad story but like....where? Ooof, I don’t wanna rant on this right now.

While the game is getting a little more challenging, it’s honestly depressing how obviously rushed this game is and I hate what capitalism has done to the gaming industry as a whole. I hate being so negative about this game because I love Pokémon so much...

furuba pokémon au?

so other than being a fruits basket fan, i’m also super into pokémon. today’s swsh news got me thinking about furuba characters as pokémon trainers and well… those thoughts definitely spiraled into obsession. this is by no means a comprehensive or definitive list but these are my thoughts so far.

tohru - she would run a healing/support based fairy type team. i picture her main being whimsicott because from the back, it looks a bit like a rice ball with a plum. tohru would frantically sprint to the pokémon center after every battle, though she wouldn’t be a big fighter anyway. her bag would be stuffed full of healing items and she’d probably catch most of her team in heal balls or luxury balls. all her pokémon would have max friendship. i think her team would also be a duel type team, grass and fairy. i picture her with ‘mons like (mega) audino, deerling, bulbasaur, sylveon, leafeon, or togepi.

kyo - this type selection was probably the easiest. kyo runs a fighting type team. he and his pokémon train relentlessly - and also have a knack for finding the best berries, so the whole team is well fed. kyo runs pokémon like mienshao, primeape, blaziken, or maybe even a (shiny) bewear. his team also consists of two types, as he also trains fire types. i see him with maybe a typhlosion, darmanitan, incineroar, or houndoom. kyo takes excellent care of his pokémon but his battle style is all out and relentless. he uses offensive moves only; the boy has never heard of a stat boosting move in his life. he wins on raw power or not at all.

yuki - yuki is a water and ice master. his team having one type strong against kyo’s and one type weak to it feels fitting. yuki’s ace is probably a milotic, and he’d also run things like floatzel, samurott, primarina, or lapras on the water side and glaceon, alolan ninetales, frosslass, or aurorus for ice pokémon. yuki is an incredibly skilled battler but doesn’t really fight unless directly challenged. unlike kyo he’s all about strategy; his pokémon carry lots of status inflicting moves. yuki is almost a celebrity battler, but what his fans don’t know is that his pokémon are also emotional support animals and are trained to end battles quickly and discreetly if he ever develops an anxiety or asthma attack mid battle.

shigure - easy pick, he runs dark types. shigure is that asshole who hides behind a corner and challenges passing travelers. he’s friendly, but plays dirty in battle and you wouldn’t really want to make him your rival. he uses pokémon like liepard, mightyena, houndoom, zoroark, honchkrow, and shiftry. he appears randomly a lot, usually with a useful and quest-relevant item, but you can never be positive he’s not working for the evil team.

hatori - also a defense/healing based team. kingdra is his ace. he runs dragon types (duh) and probably a second type but i have no idea what. best guesses go to steel, psychic, or ground.

ayame - poison type trainer with an arbok, a scolipede, and a seviper, but ayame is way more into contests than battling. he makes his own contest spectacular outfits. people underestimate him because they don’t think most poison types are usually contest viable, but he makes it work.

kagura - solo runs with a grossly over leveled emboar. beware her heat crash. she’s not really a trainer, more of just an everyday person with one partner pokémon.

hana - she runs psychic types, obviously, and is psychic herself. she’s a sitting gym leader but doesn’t get a lot of challengers. she can often tell whether a challenger is worthy by their wave signature even before the battle starts. her main is an espeon, but she also runs alakazam, xatu, gardevoir, swoobat, starmie, or delphox. her team changes out a lot because psychic pokémon are sensitive and battles tire them out quickly. this is why her gym is difficult to get through - she would hate to overwork her team.

uo - steel type trainer. she used to participate in a lot of street battling rings but she has since retired and only battles safely against her friends, and even then only on occasion. she’s a more defensive battler in friendly matches but if ever forced to battle an actual enemy she is a force of nature. uo carries pokémon like aggron, mawile, scizor, metagross, excadrill, bastiodon, or bisharp. she says her mawile reminds her of hana. uo will sometimes step in with her metagross as one of the trainers in hana’s gym.

akito - i get ghost type trainer vibes. akito is relatively obsessed with the idea of legendary pokémon, namely arceus, and is convinced they are more than folklore. she would lead an evil team, formed by members of the sohma clan, in an attempt to harness the power of legends for herself. however, she would be a leader like archie/maxie or N or guzma who is reformed at the end of her arc. i think she would then devote her time to being a lorekeeper instead, changing her obsession with legends into something positive. she would probably carry mismagius, chandelure, oricorio sensu, mimikyu, gengar, banette, or froslass.

momiji - more of a jack of all trades than a type focused trainer, i think momiji would actually appreciate some “weaker” pokémon and give them a fair shot. he’d run things like plusle (his sister would have a minun), bunnelby, whismur, spinda, oricorio pom-pom, and wigglytuff.

kisa - look idk but tiny girl with giant incineroar just makes me happy as a concept. kisa doesn’t battle, by the way, it’s her emotional support incineroar.

hiro - he claims that he thinks battling is stupid and pokémon are lame. he owns a mareep and a gogoat anyway and gets really mad if you point out how much he dotes over them.

rin - i haven’t seen her animated and it’s been forever since i read the manga so this one isn’t deep and insightful, but she has a mudsdale, a zebstrika, and a rapidash. horse gang. don’t @ me.

haru - trains normal and dark types. his training style varies wildly; light haru isn’t much of a battler and prefers riding pokémon for fun, but dark haru is an aggressive battler with a style reminiscent of kyo’s. he has a bouffalant and a tauros, both of which he rides because they have a better sense of direction than he does. he also carries an absol, a pangoro, a zweilous, and a slaking. haru takes forever to get from one gym to the next, so he’s nowhere near getting all his badges yet.

kyoko - no idea about her team specifically but i think kyoko was a fighting type trainer who gave up battling but never gave up on her pokémon and kept them until her death. i like to think kyo’s mankey was a gift from her when he was a child.

this took a bit to type out, geez. that’s really all i have for now but feel free to add on or throw in your own ideas, even if they conflict with mine! i’d love to know what the rest of the fandom thinks, if any of you are big pokémon fans!

"it's well easy to say--- an' that's factorin' in that i only say it when i mean it! got a lot a' love in me, innit." a pause. "... err, but... guess if we're talkin'... explicitly romantic 'i love you's..." a slow sigh. "... i, uh. i guess i don't say 'em in a romantic way as often as i do in a platonic way. platonically speakin', right, i care 'bout everyone i meet, an' if we spent more time together an' get closer then that 'likin' you' is gonna evolve into 'lovin' you', one way or another--- love doesn't 'ave to be romantic an' that. but... well. when it IS romantic. i... i guess i 'ave a bit of trouble developin' romantic love for someone. developin' the romantic feelings, the 'likin' you', that's still pretty easy, but it takes... takes more to go from 'likin' you' to 'lovin' you'. maybe somethin' 'bout the platonic love that'd exist alongside the romantic love, maybe that's the issue, that i already love you in general an' addin' even more would be... difficult? i dunno--- think i've waffled on about this long enough anyway."

E : EMBRACE. does your muse like hugs? what are their hugs like?

"i LOVE hugs! any time a' day, you want a hug, you call me. 12 am or 12 pm, doesn't matter. been told i give great hugs, too!" he DOES give great hugs--- because he stays attentive to the person he's hugging, and changes it based on what they're responding positively to or asking him for, whether they want a nice tight bewear hug but no touching their hair, or a gentle looser hug with plenty of hair-pets.

Pain. Though he would not admit as much, Guzma was in pain. It radiated when he breathed, through splintered ribs which seemed to creak and groan, resisting his battered lungs as they struggled to draw breath. Aching through his chest, through his back, his sides… it was everywhere.

‘Lucky’, the hospital had said. Also, of course - ‘idiot’. Because who would face down a rampaging bewear, just for a bunch of brats? Criminals. Grunts. But they were HIS grunts, after all. And it was his fault they’d been there at all.

He’d heard it about a hundred times. That he should save the fighting for the pokemon, keep his fists to himself. That he was only human. But he didn’t like listening when people said he shouldn’t. Couldn’t. Wouldn’t. It all felt like a challenge, or a dare… And he never passed up a dare.

So, it was easy to imagine how staying in bed was hard, for him. How ‘doctor’s orders’ sounded like a muffled assortment of ‘blah blah blah’. Not to mention – who laid around in bed all day, anyway? Weaklings. Losers! He was neither.

Plumeria had caught him, the first time. Then Dai, the little rat – with his tattle tale girlfriend, who was so infuriatingly unafraid of big, mean things that could crush her. They’d snitched on him to Plumeria, and back into bed he’d gone; with a babysitter, to boot.

The hacker was… companionable. It wasn’t as if Guzma disliked him, even. If he didn’t, he’d have smashed his bizarre headgear and left him to rot outside of Po Town’s gates from the start. So - he quite liked Dosh’te. But as a guard? He found him innately… detestable.

( It wasn’t his fault. He’d have hated Plumeria too, if she was the one watching over him, Just bad luck, really, that Dosh had been chosen. )

What did Plumes expect him to do, anyway? The object headed man was as big around as Guzma’s thigh, and that was generous. He could snap him, he thought – like a twig. He was like a magikarp, for all the good he’d do as a prison guard. Dosh wasn’t gonna keep him here. He was the big, bad, Guzma! He was getting up, and there was nothing they could do about it. Not Plumeria, not Dai… and certainly not Dosh’Te, or the spindly little fingers that he reached out with to push him back down against the bed.

He should have blown through it. Pushed past him, like he was nothing; but as Dosh’s hands pressed against his aching ribs, he collapsed away from him, howling in pain.

( Big baby, he thought he heard Plumeria say, from the other room. )

“FUCK!” He swore, as loudly as his half full lungs could manage. “FUCK you, Dosh – fuck your fucking screen fucking - FUCK! That – “ Hurt? He wasn’t going to actually admit it.

“You let me up right now, or when I get up, the first thing I’m gonna rampage is your room, you hear me? I’m… g..onna..” Hack. Wheeze. Groan, and… pass out. He was just gonna… pass out, real quick.

The light faded as he slumped down, darkness encroaching upon his vision from the edges until it consumed his sight entirely. The fight in him - for despite the pain, there was plenty - melted away, and he fell against the pillows, suddenly silent, and motionless.

At least for now, anyway. But when he woke… certainly, there’d be a fight, again. Hopefully, though, Dosh wouldn’t have to be there, for the next time.

Rude Awakening, Chapter 2

In which jokes are made at the expense of Utah. And Ohio.

Chapter 2: Welcoming Committee

The four emerged in a grassy meadow, the portal quickly closing behind them as they gazed around curiously.

"Doesn't look like anything too out of the ordinary..." said Quentin.

"You'll see soon enough," said Palkia, "There should be a big city up ahea-"

"What is that?!" said Hoopa.

He was pointing to a brown shaggy creature, with round ears and sharp claws and teeth, sniffing at them cautiously.

Palkia blinked. "Seems this is a bit further from home than expected - that's an animal, not a Pokemon."

"A-animal?" said Hoopa.

"They are beings touched by forces quite different from us Legendaries," said Dialga; "Like Pokemon, but feral and with only basal intelligence."

"So that thing is a fucked-up Ursaring?" said Hoopa.

"It's just a bear." said Palkia.

"...Just a bear? Not an Ursaring or a Pangoro or a Beartic or a Bewear, just a bear?"

"I... think it's a brown bear?" said Palkia, shrugging sheepishly.

Hoopa crossed his arms. "They need to hire a new guy to name these things."

"Can I keep it, though?" said Giratina.

Everyone looked over to see Giratina was holding the bear and pinning its limbs from behind, the creature roaring and attempting to futilely claw and bite at him.

"Giratina, no, you can't just adopt the local fauna in place like this!" said Dialga, scowling.

"But it's soft and huggable," said Giratina, pouting.

Palkia sighed. "Just keep it untill we get to Ylisse and we'll see what we do there."

She headed off, everyone else following after, the bear still struggling and roaring in protest in Giratina's grip.

The four eventually wandered far enough to reach the outskirts of a lavish city before them.

"There it is! Oh, it looks just like the game, I'm so excited!"

"Fancy place!" said Hoopa. "What's it called?"

'Yilissitoll, capital of Yilisse!"

"...The cities too?"

Palkia shrugged. "Eh, I've heard worse. There's this city near a salt lake in a universe we stopped by one time, you know what they called it?"

"...What?"

"Salt Lake City."

"...I'm suddenly grateful for our universe."

Palkia smiled. "As a mon who helped make it, I appreciate that. That said, let's see this one up close, shall we?"

The bear roared in protest again.

"Hush, Wuzzles," said Giratina, patting the bear softly while maintaining his tight grip. "I'll get you snacks when we get to the city place."

"Giratina, you were supposed to let that thing free when we got to the city!" said Dialga.

"Er, actually," said Palkia, "Letting it loose this close to the city might be a problem."

Hoopa put his hands on his hips. "...I'm not putting that in the Stash."

Dialga glared at Giratina before shaking his head, sighing.

"Please, just... Keep it pinned for now."

"Thanks bro!" said Giratina, indeed hugging the protesting bear tighter.

Everyone then headed into the city proper, marvelling at the elaborate and sturdy buildings, bustling locals of various walks of life, and the busy shops, stalls, and bazaars, ignoring the more than a few odd glances they got back themselves as they whispered among each other.

"It looks so much like some of the cities in our world just a few hundred years ago..." said Dialga.

"Quite the nostalgia trip, huh?" said Hoopa.

"Still different from back home, though," said Giratina. "No Pokemon, humans dressed funny even for the time period, selling funky things at the shops..."

"Speaking of which, we should stick to the plan trying to talk to anyone for now," said Palkia.

"The "is that foreign" plan?" said Giratina.

"Yep."

"Hopefully we won't have to use it too soon..." said Dialga.

"Yeah, better for now we-" said Palkia.

She stopped froze, and grinned. "Scratch that, it's them!"

Everyone else turned to see Palkia staring enraptured at four people nearby - a white-haired young man in a black-and purple coat, a taller, blue-haired young man dressed in blue armor with a white cape hanging behind him, an even taller, somewhat older man with brown hair and much heavier armor, and a teenage girl with long blonde hair in pigtails complimenting a strange, dress-like outfit, all looking over the items in a shop.

"...Them?" said Dialga.

"The Shepherds! Well, the four major ones. They're the main characters of the game!"

"So they're the dudes we wanna hang with?'

"Exactly!" said Palkia.

"Sweet!" said Hoopa.

He frowned. "Now how exactly do we get chummy with 'em?"

Palkia froze and paled. "I don't know; I didn't think we'd get this far."

Dialga groaned. "Can't we just go up and ask them?"

"I don't think that's how it works... here we're the nobodies and they're the big shots!"

"Then how do you suggest we-"

The quartet then heard a scream.

"Bandits! To the south!"

The group of disguised Legendaries then saw a farmer barge through the streets in panic toward the Shepherds as they quickly turned to address him.

"Bandits? In this time?" said the tall, sturdily-armored man.

"Armed burglars, sir!" Whole bunch of them headed straight for our village!"

The blue-haired man scowled. "We'll deal with them right away."

"If they're just a bunch of theives they should be no problem for us," said his white-haied companion.

"Yeah!" said the girl, pumping her fists. "Especially if they're dumb enough to attack this close to home!"

The four of them and the farmer rushed off, leaving the multiversal visitors staring after.

"Well," said Dialga, "They certainly seem to have the problem under control themselves..."

Palkia hesitated, then grinned. "Actually, I have a plan."

"Ooh, what, sis?" said Giratina.

"We help the Shepherds with their little bandit problem."

"So we're gonna impress 'em to get 'em on our side? I like this plan."

"I'm not so keen," said Dialga, "didn't we agree to keep things nonlethal?"

"That's part of the plan," said Palkia, grinning. "You see..."

The four huddled together amidst the crowd. A bit later, several onlookers stopped and stared when they seemed to vanish.

The village was battened down in their houses, a few farmers armed with crude makeshift weapons outside. Even then, they knew they didn't stand a chance against the rapidly-approaching raiders.

It was then a young, pink-haired woman in some bizarre-looking white-and-pink battle dress wielding a staff with a pearl-like orb at the end stepped out into the streets almost too calmly.

"Easy boys," she said, "me and my friends have this covered. Can I just borrow a horse?"

"M-m'am, you're crazy' there's-"

"Sir, I can save your village just fine either way, but it's better with the horse."

"...There's a draft horse in the stables, but she's used for till-"

He didn't get to finish, as the woman had vanished in a warp in space and emerged atop the draft horse in question just out of range of the bandits. The horse reared in panic before Palkia calmed it with a soothing aura from her Lustrous Orb staff and addressed the bewildered men before her with a smirk.

"Now you all hold still so we can make this easy."

The bandits blinked collectively before one stepped forward to face her with a scowl.

"And what makes you think you're some one-woman army?"

Palkia gave a dismissive wave of her hand and chuckled. "Ooh, you're all so cute trying to be little bandit-wandits out to kidnap the crops and burn the women, but you're still being naughty and need to be punished..."

She pulled out and opened out a dark blue book several of the bandits backed away nervously from.

"...But first you all need a bath."

Blue Unown-like runes spiraled upward from the book as a massive wave emerged in front of Palkia and swept the bandits back. As they gasped and spluttered trying to get to their feet afterwards a chill ran down their spines as a bear roared followed by a man shouting:

"Sneak attack, Wuzzles!"

The bandits screamed as a blonde, red-eyed man emerged from nearby shrubs atop a roaring bear, slicing at each of them with his sword...

...Only for the sword strikes to miss each and every one of them by a hair's length, instead opening dimensional portals that punted them screaming through the Distortion World only to fall through a much larger portal that landed them on the ground almost out of sight of the village.

As they got to their feet, they noticed a man with shaggy blue hair and long fleshy ears fiddling with a diamond-like orb.

"Okay, so I need to change to the right form to use my pow-"

Suddenly he was enveloped in a blue, crystalline cocoon, emerging as an enormous, monstrous blue rabbit with markings and armor plating reminiscent of his dragon form.

"...I'm a bunny?!"

He recovered from his shock just in time to see the bandits fling axes and spears at him. He sighed as his eyes glowed, the weapons stopping in midair and rusting and rotting into dust within seconds.

"...Let's just get this over with."

He rushed up to each bandit and dealt them precision headbutts and kicks, sending them flying and screaming yet again into a dazed pile.

"Now we've thoroughly gotten your attention," said a voice, "let's keep it!"

A youth appeared and threw golden hoops atop the pile of bandits, each squeezing in to bind them in place. Once he was done Hoopa gave the dazed, trapped pile of bandits a wave.

"Thank you for attending this show of "How Not to Plunder a Village!" We hope for your sake it was educational."

Dialga reverted to his more humanlike form as Palkia approached on the draft horse's back and Giratina approached on Wuzzles. A few of the trapped bandits started at Wuzzles sniffing them, at which Giratina shushed him.

"Wuzzles, they are not snacks. I will get you your snacks back in town."

"Speaking of which," said Dialga, "Where are those humans Palkia said were so important anyway?"

"They should be here any minute now..." said Palkia.

Indeed, the other quartet and the farmer soon ran up to the scene only to look at it baffled.

"What in the name of the gods...?" said the blue-haired one.

"...It seems we've been beaten to our objective," said the shorter, white-haired man.

"That was already apparent, but how?" said the third, tallest man.

"Aw, phooey!" said the girl. "I hate missing out!"

~Alright, who does the introductions?~ said Hoopa telepathically.

~I'll start.~ said Palkia.

She turned to the other group.

"Oh, hey! Sorry if we messed anything up taking care of these guys!"

"It's fine!" said the farmer. "You saved our village before the Shepereds even could!"

"We're part of said Sheperds by the way," said the blue-haired man."I'm Chrom, my companions here are Robin..."

He gestures to the white-haired young man in the coat.

~He's one of my favorites!~ said Palkia to everyone in her group.

"Fredrick..."continued Chrom, guesturing to his older, taller companion, "and Lissa," guesturing to the blonde teenager.

"You certainly seem skilled from how easily you seem to have dealt with those bandits!" said Robin, looking at the multiversal group in admiration.

He then furrowed his brow. "What land are you even from, though? You certainly seem like an unusual bunch."

"We're from the esoteric faraway land of Cincinatii," said Dialga dryly.

"It's got some great views and locales and good food!" said Palkia

"The sports teams kind of suck, tho-" said Giratina.

Palkia nudged him with a foot before continuing.

"Anyway," said Palkia, "I'm Valentia, this is Quentin, this is Howard, and this is Bartemaeus," she said, gesturing to each of them in turn.

"Pleasure to meet you all," said Chrom, nodding.

He smiled. "And for being so helpful here... If you need a place to stay from so far off why not with us?"

Frederick raised an eyebrow. "...Mlord, this time you cannot be serious."

"Frederick, you've known Chrom far longer than I have," said Robin. "He's always serious about these things."

~Chrom's the nice one,~ said Palkia telepathically. ~He's our ace in the hole for getting in with these guys without too much trouble!~

Fredrick looked between them all and sighed. "Alright... But everyone, keep an eye on these.... Cincinnatians."

Robin gave a small bow to Palkia. "It's a pleasure to have you all with us."

Palkia bowed back. "You as well."

Internally, she gave an excited fangirl squeal. We're partying with the Shepherds! This is gonna be great!
