When Tomorrow Comes
Written for @guiltygearzine (leftover orders open on April 18th!)
Tumblr media
Relationship(s): Robo-Ky/Venom
Word Count: 2.6k
Fic Summary: When things start getting a bit too expensive for the bakery, Venom contacts a local family farm about becoming a supplier. Though nervous when it comes to interacting with humans, Robo-Ky agrees to come with him to talk in person. When faced with their tangerine grove, he comes to a few realizations.
Tumblr media
That left just Robo-Ky and the tangerine trees. He examined the trees and fruit closely, which still seemed to be growing magnificently, even under a careful diagnostic eye. As he looked into the tangerines with his back to the fence, it was almost as if he could envision rows and rows of more plants, teeming with life. No doubt this was a snapshot of the twelve acres of Robo-Ky’s dreams.
Since when did he have more than one dream?

Honkai Star Rail | Genshin Impact | Blue Lock
Tumblr media
New Writing Schedule is here, I have been a little quiet since the last one lol. A lot has been going on in my life personally, so I haven't been able to really do things like this, or even really consistently update and write. However, my life has gotten a lot better and I am now mentally well enough to continue on. Thank you all for being so patient with me! So here is the new Writing schedule, it will include what I will work on and future projects that I am steadily tinkering with in the background!
Honkai Star Rail - Akivili x Nanook Longfic
I'm working on a long fic for Honkai Star Rail involving Akivili and Nanook. It won't be out for a while since I plan on releasing it monthly instead of "whenever I can get to it" like my other long fic. I will be in search of a beta reader for it as well, but it's far from ready for debut.
Honkai Star Rail - "Celestial Curio AU"
The Celestial Curio AU is still being worked on, and it will soon be complete. I have 4 more stories planned for the AU and I'm already working on one as I type this! Once all of the stories are complete, I'll post them on my tumblr for some of my moots to read them as it's quite the popular series I have (Or you guys can just go to my AO3 and read through what's already posted </3)
Genshin Impact - "Sharpen Claws, Sharpen Teeth"
The next chapter of Sharpen Claws will also be written and I will also take some time to continue plotting out the ending for the fic since we are close to the end now and there's not many chapters left. Seeing as this was my first long fic I've ever written this much for, I'm quite proud of it! I wouldn't abandon it lol not for anything.
Blue Lock- "System Check"
The rest of the chapters for this fic will be written and then uploaded in one big go since I have put it on the back burner for like WAY too long, and I did want to get to the other variations of this AU. I will not rush myself with it though, since this is a short story with very short chapters.

TLTBB 2021 - FAQ
What is the TLT Big Bang?
The TLT Big Bang, otherwise known as The Locked Tomb Big Bang or TLTBB, is a collaborative fan event where writers, artists, and beta readers work together to write fanfiction in the universe of The Locked Tomb Trilogy, and create art for said fanfiction.
Can I participate?
Yes! Interest forms will be open by this Friday, March 26, through March 30, and sign-ups for the bang will open on Saturday, April 3. You can see the rest of our schedule here!
Who will be modding the event?
The mods will be: Mod Poppet (@antiv3nom on Tumblr) Mod Laney (@frostryn on Tumblr) Mod Hazel (@suspishish on Tumblr) Mod Cai (@bisexualoftheblade on Tumblr)
If I have any questions, where should I ask them?
Go ahead and send an ask to our ask box! We will answer them as soon as we can. Please don’t send DMs to the mods or the official Tumblr with bang-related questions.
What if I have a beta and/or artist I normally work with?
On the bang sign up form, there will be spots for betas and artists to say that they have a pre-established agreement to work with a certain writer! However, to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to work on fics, we are only allowing writers to join with a maximum of one pre-established artist and one beta pre-established.
If I want to participate as a writer, how much do I have to write?
The minimum word count is 3k for one-shots and 6k for multi-chaptered fics, but of course you can go over these word counts, and there is no maximum!
Is there anything I’m not allowed to write?
Generally, we are using the rule that if it is touched upon in the books, you can put it in your fic! As well as this, you have to follow the AO3 guidelines when it comes to ratings, of course. That means a G rating for content suitable for anyone, a T rating for content okay for ages 13 and up, and an M rating for adult themes (such as sexual themes or heavier violence) that are NOT explicit. Your fics can be rated G, T, or M, but following the rule of nothing more explicit than the books, we will not allow E-rated content. This bang will be open to minors, and we want to keep it a safe and fun place for anyone who joins!
Can I make a crossover?
Yes you can! The rule is, if you are writing these characters in a different universe, it has to focus on the characters from the books rather than another set of characters from other media.
What types of art can I make?
You can make whatever! Some common types are sketches, illustrations, playlists, moodboards, and edits, but whatever you make is allowed!
What if I am a minor and feel uncomfortable working with adults, (or I am an adult and feel uncomfortable working with minors)?
Authors will fill out fic synopsis forms, where you can specify if you would not like to work with either minors or adults. These synopsis forms will also specify any triggering content in a fic, and the rating of the fic, to make sure that everyone working with you will be comfortable working with the content in your fic.
Where can I see/read the fics/art?
The official TLTBB Tumblr will start reblogging everyone’s final works onto this blog at the end of the bang! Everyone will be assigned a posting day and a collection will be made on the official Ao3 Big Bang collection.

@fakecrfan (thank you, you are a fantastic author) tagged me in the Last Line Tag Game
Rules: Write the latest line from your WIP and tag as many people as there are words in the line.
“Melanie looked really good when she smiled.”
It’s really quit humorous, this line comes at the end of Julia and Melanie sizing each other and deciding “you know what, this person is cool.” But all y’all get is wlw pining from Georgie.

i was the sunset before the dawning of my life
Tumblr media
Pairing(s): Inumaki Toge/Okkotsu Yuuta
Word Count: 2.3k
Summary: Yuuta brings Toge to the shrine in his hometown for New Year's, and Toge abandons old traditions in favor of new ones.
Notes: my gift fic for the @inuokkoholidayexchange made for the wonderful @mugi-sktch!!! i hope your holidays were lovely and your new year goes well mugi :]
Tumblr media
Toge jolted awake to a tap on his shoulder. Breaking quickly out of his sleepy haze, he found himself on a moving train in a mostly empty car. The first thing he noticed was the harsh artificial lighting streaming through his squinting eyes, making up for the lack of sun in the sky outside. The second, much more important thing he noticed was the person sitting directly next to him. Okkotsu Yuuta, special grade sorcerer, and Toge’s boyfriend.
“Good morning sleepyhead,” Yuuta said to him with a smile. Toge simply groaned, closing his eyes again and snuggling into Yuuta’s side. “Hey, you have to actually wake up,” the incredibly comfy boy chastised, “we’re like five minutes away from the station."

hard to be soft, tough to be tender
Tumblr media
Pairing(s): Robo-Ky/Venom
Word Count: 2.7k
Fic Summary: Venom almost runs away from the bakery after a particularly haunting nightmare. Almost.
Tumblr media
There was a reason that Venom wore gloves. They were a layer of separation, a border between control and chaos. Reliable, replaceable, and removable. Not that he ever actually took them off.
There was a time where you could catch a glimpse of Venom’s bare hands, just after he was taken on by the Guild. When he was still openly defiant and openly disposable. When he was still a child. When Zato wasn’t there.
Venom never really got used to killing. He just got past it. Every job, every mission, he would move past his doubt and fears and disgust, sliding above it all with the help of his pure devotion to the man who had saved him. The violence was worth it to him, worth the way his skin would crawl for hours after blows were exchanged, worth the way his feet seemed to stick to the ground despite willing himself to move.
So he kept the gloves on.

Pairing(s): Itoshi Sae/Shidou Ryuusei
Word Count: 1.1k
Summary: Sae isn't surprised anymore when Shidou shows up at his door.
Tumblr media
00:38
Shidou
oi underlashes
open the door
come oooooon
don’t make me break through a window
Sae stared at the text notifications popping up on his phone, one right after another. He sighed at the text before walking through his halls to the front door—the demon’s threats were anything but empty, and he didn’t feel like paying to replace a window anytime soon.

inner turmoil, outer shell
Tumblr media
Relationship(s): Roronoa Zoro & Trafalgar D. Water Law
Word Count: 2.6k
Fic Summary: After the destruction of Punk Hazard, Law can't sleep. Unfortunately, sleep is the one thing he needs, since he's currently on the Thousand Sunny, and he's run out of emergency painkillers to deal with the near-constant pain he's been in the past few days. Seeing his distress—and growing tired of it—Zoro invites him up to the crow's nest while he's on watch, where the two talk as they otherwise likely wouldn't.
Tumblr media
Instead, tonight he paced in the open air, in a too-light sweatshirt, too-long sleep pants, and… shoes, which were unpleasant in and of themselves. He wasn’t too keen on walking without them on the wet grass on the Sunny’s open deck, not only because it wasn’t his ship but also because if he had to deal with one more unpleasant feeling at the moment (i.e. wet socks) he thought he might scream, and that wouldn’t make him a very good guest, would it? The only thing properly helping with the chill of the night around him was his hat, which hadn’t left his head nearly the whole day. Law was a creature of habit, as much as that was possible in his profession, so he’d take the familiarity where he could get it.
Another twang of pain shot up his leg, compounding with what felt like unstoppable cramping in that same calf and a pounding headache radiating down to his neck. This shouldn’t have been a problem, not to this extent, not if Law had things under control. But the escape from Punk Hazard, despite his best efforts, had been about the opposite of controlled—damn Strawhats—and he hadn’t quite had the opportunity to pack his things before he’d, you know, sliced the entire facility in half. Maybe that one was his fault.

heirloom wheat - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Pairing(s): Bedman/Sin Kiske
Word Count: 2.1k
Fic Summary: With an upcoming Kiske-Badguy family reunion, Sin and Bedman make homemade bread to bring along. Finally asking questions they've both been wondering, they both learn more about the other's past.
Chapter Summary: Bedman and Sin make bread together, and Sin talks about his childhood. Bedman makes some astute observations about emotion.
Tumblr media
Sin wasn’t going to take over. He had promised. He was going to do this with his boyfriend, not for him.
But fuck, Bedman was really bad at making bread.
Not for lack of trying, of course. Sin stood across the counter from him, watching his truly valiant effort at kneading dough, which appeared from the outside more like he was fighting the stuff—and losing. It likely didn’t help that he was standing, wheelchair abandoned to the side in favor of reaching the countertop.
As Bedman paused his assault, pulling his hands away from the dough, Sin opened his mouth.
“Before you even ask,” Bedman started, beating him to the punch, “Yes. Despite my efforts, I am in desperate need of assistance. I am absolutely coated in flour and would like not to be.”

become idiots (dance in midair)
Tumblr media
Pairing(s): Bachira Meguru/Isagi Yoichi
Word Count: 8k
Summary: If Isagi Yoichi knew anything right now, it was that he didn't have time for this. With his career on the line in the First Selection of Blue Lock, there was already the challenge of finding his place within Team Z and improving his own skills. But throw in complicated feelings for his new best friend, Bachira Meguru, and a multitude of new self-discoveries, and you have way too much for just one boy to handle.
Tumblr media
Truly, he would love to claim that his success was spurred on by himself and himself alone, like a real egoist would, but Yoichi had to admit that the only reason he had gotten as far as he had was the rest of Team Z. When you live, eat, sleep, and train with ten other incredibly talented strikers, you’re bound to pick up some skills. Or, you will if you’re observant, and he was nothing if not attentive.
There was one person in particular that truly fueled Yoichi’s evolution, right from the moment he found himself as the Oni in the game of tag that very first day. The one person that saw fit to pass to him, the one person to show him his monster, and the one person who turned out to be his first friend in Blue Lock—Bachira Meguru.
Bachira, who just sent Yoichi a pass he was determined to use to its full potential this time.

You know, I'm only ever gonna ask about Bachira...
Tell me why he's the best
LMAO YOURE VALID THERE! IM HAPPY TO TALK ABOUT HIM <3 okay so disclaimer but i sort of answered a slightly different question? instead of why hes the best i felt i could better talk about why i personally love bachira so much and think hes fantastic, so please enjoy this fuckin essay of a post
okay, we have to start with the basics here. the very first thing that drew me to bachira was for SURE his character design. i mean. once again i will mention that i'm growing my hair out to look like his. and hes soooo androgynous!!! and as a nonbinary person who leans towards masc/androgynous styles im HERE FOR IT!!!! plus the yellow was already cool, even before i knew the bee fact about his name :D
and ofc there's also his personality!!! as my friend grin has. accurately read off me. my favorite characters are typically those that are surprisingly competent, and those that embody the :3 face (and thus also the >:3 face), and like. bachira is introduced as a sleepy little guy and then kicks someone in the face so he IMMEDIATELY checks both of those boxes and he really fits my character type
also, elaborating on the surprisingly competent piece—bachira is DECIDEDLY competent, but its not in a like...power sort of way? its all about his technique and his ✨ style ✨ and i really enjoy characters who are great at what they do in a more unconventional way or not having to do with their physicality (coming from a weak little bitch) and i dont know. really anything about soccer irl. but its easy enough to see that bachiras good at this shit!!!!
okay so now we get into the meaty shit, starting with his backstory <3 immediately his being an outcast...really fit, honestly, it tracks a lot for him. but it hit me HARD as someone who was/is kinda an outcast and never really had a solid group of friends until relatively recently? and just...his loneliness resonates with me, a lot. but ANYWAYS im not here to vent or anything, the other thing abt his backstory is the monster metaphor and its beginnings, because it is SO easily read as an allegory for neurodivergence (and without too much stretching, queerness as well). being set apart and left out and seen as weird because of honest, genuine passion and this undeniable part of you and just feeling like something is WRONG with you even if you love it is...such an experience that ive had. and its so so easier to see that in bachira!!!! moral of the story, bachira is bisexual and nonbinary and autistic because i am and i say so <3
anyways anyways straying away from headcanons, bachira's development arc? WRECKS ME. it's so very well done, that evolution of the prior loneliness and the desire to both be independent and to not be left behind are...gorgeous. amazing. i can and will write an essay about it. it really builds well on his backstory and what he's done in blue lock prior to that game and seeing him evolve past his monster and his need for someone to play with but not fully abandon either? it means a lot that he still values companionship even if he feels like he doesnt need it <3
moving onwards, i really adore bachiras interactions with other characters!!! the most obvious example is him and isagi, and we all know at this point how big of a bachisagi fan i am (i just think theyre neat <3 <3 <3) but a genuine FRIENDLY rivalry, emphasis on the friends, doesnt seem to pop up that often in blue lock, and its really nice to see with isagi :D and just!!!! they make each other want to be better!!! its good stuff
theres also bachira and rin, which...that shit is COMPLICATED but it's really really interesting how rin like, almost sees bachira as a rival (and thus an equal) but is the first one to really recognize the idea that bachira is still deeply lonely and dependent on having someone with him? rin is the one who kickstarts bachiras development with the line, "[your soccer] is a soccer that is looking for someone," which i will NEVER forget. i like that bachira still tries to interact with rin and crack his shell despite rins cold behavior towards him, it makes for some fun fun interactions <3
AND I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT LAVINHO. LAVINHO IS AWFUL AT BEING A RESPONSIBLE ADULT AND THAT MEANS THAT HE IS THE PERFECT MENTOR FOR BACHIRA!!!! because bachira still cares about having FUN!!!! AND WHAT HE NEEDS IS THAT SENSE OF EXCITEMENT AND CREATIVITY THAT LAVINHI BRINGS HIM!!!!!!!!! LORD THEYRE SO PERFECT TOGETHER (IN THE MENTOR/MENTEE SENSE OFC) AND I LOVE THEM
okay finally, and ik we've talked about this before, but bachira's motivations are the perfect blend of being individual enough to survive in the environment of blue lock, while still not being completely disconnected from the idea of teamwork and companionship, you know? it means a lot to me that a lot of these characters arent wholely self-centered because. well. many reasons. i could make a whole other post about egoism in bllk and why it Worries Me A Little but i wont get into it here lmao, the important part is that bachira has enough of a goal on his own that he can keep himself going without anyone else, but he WANTS to play with isagi and make friends and have that companionship that he didnt have when he was young and that just.....it resonates and means a lot <3 <3 <3
anyways, this was the definitive why i love bachira post <3 hope you enjoyed!!!!

Summary: Yukimiya Kenyu doesn't normally work the bars at the Blue Lock Casino, but after a conversation with a certain likeminded runner, he's glad he did today.
Pairings: Yukimiya Kenyu/Chigiri Hyouma, Yukimiya Kenyu & Chigiri Hyouma (can be read as just friendly or romantic, up to you!)
Word Count: 2.7k
Note: here's my contribution to the pit lock sin city collab!!! it was so so much fun writing yukki and i had such a good time with this pairing and just working with all the talented writers on the collab :] im glad i could help organize it!
also, this fic is on ao3 as well! it's under the same name, and my username there is antiv3nomarts, if you're more inclined to read it there.
Tumblr media
Things were busy in the Blue Lock Casino—but when were they not?
Kenyu was used to it all by now, less out of fondness and more out of necessity. His familiarity with the sounds and sights of the game floor came quickly to him when he started his job at the casino, and it certainly hadn’t gone away now that he was a floor manager. If anything, he was paradoxically out in the crowd more often than any other job he’d had, despite supposedly not needing to leave his cushy office unless a problem were to arise. Because problems always arise.
Kenyu currently found himself walking into said cushy office after clocking in, dropping off his jacket on the unnecessarily fancy coat stand in the corner of the room and leaving his bag beside his desk. But, as he had found over many, many months of working this job, there was really no reason to even sit down anymore. It was better to get the jump on any and all tasks he had for the day.
The first of which, of course, was talking with his co-manager, Nagi Seishirou, the prodigy who’d found himself a manager position after less than a year of working at Blue Lock. The decision had received plenty of backlash—including from Kenyu himself—due to his general laziness and cold demeanor, but Kenyu had to admit: he knew how to get his job done. Get him going, and Nagi could have easily run an entire floor area on his own. The problem was getting him going in the first place.
And so, Kenyu’s first job of the day was reviewing the day’s work with Nagi and trying his very best to get his coworker to actually…work. Because as much as Kenyu would love to take care of everything himself, he recognized that if he wanted a day to go smoothly, he needed to divide and conquer.
Kenyu didn’t bother knocking on the door as he entered Nagi’s office—a room quite similar to his own dedicated space, but much more chaotic, with papers and forms scattered in random piles and useless objects placed on any available flat space. He knew at this point not to say anything about the mess to Nagi, but it still irked him every time he saw it.
“Good morning Nagi,” Kenyu said, strolling into the office and up to Nagi’s desk, leaning with his hand pressed onto the one always open spot.
“Mornin’ Yukimiya,” Nagi responded, turning his attention away from his laptop and whatever game he was inevitably messing around on. “Briefing time?”
“You know it,” Kenyu said. Nagi, expectedly, yawned. “We’ve got a few local big shot officials coming in today, so we’ve got to keep an eye on them and update the sections they go to and keep everything above board there. I think we’ve also got some general admin work to do regarding the new digital game spectating spots and the betting there.”
“I think you know exactly what I’m going to ask to deal with,” Nagi deadpanned.
“Hey, it’s always good practice to ask. Not like you couldn’t deal with the guests, or heck, both of those. But I’ll bring you the papers, and I think I already emailed you the online information.”
“Sounds good to me.”
Kenyu moved to leave, but there was a knock at the door, firm and rhythmic. Before either Kenyu or Nagi could respond, it simply opened. Standing on the other side was Mikage Reo, who was undeniably one of the most well off employees at Blue Lock. He was Nagi’s personal lapdog, though he’d always insist it was the other way around, despite his lower position. The two had entered at about the same time, and even as Nagi had climbed the ranks and Reo had lagged behind, Reo was almost always eager to work with Nagi in any way he could.
Reo smiled slightly as he looked at Nagi, but straightened up as his gaze shifted to Kenyu. “Good morning Yukimiya, Nagi.” The former returned the greeting, while the latter simply replied with a hum in Reo’s direction. Reo cleared his throat before focusing back on Kenyu. “Himizu called out of his shift last minute. Do you want me to find someone to cover for him?”
Kenyu thought, just for a moment, before responding. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll take that bar today.” He turned to Nagi, and muttered, “Guess you’ll have to take care of those guests after all. You good with that?”
“Yeah, that should be fine,” Nagi answered.
“Then it’s settled. Let me know if you need anything, I shouldn’t be too busy. Our section is already pretty slow today, so I can’t imagine one of the smaller bars would be any more hectic.”
Once Nagi nodded in confirmation, Kenyu headed for the door, which Reo held open for him. “Don’t keep him too long,” Kenyu instructed him, ignoring the light frown that split Reo’s face for a moment.
Tumblr media
The bar in question was indeed slow on customers, but Kenyu wasn’t going to complain. Far from it, in fact—he enjoyed days like these, where he could comfortably focus on a single job instead of his usual routine, constantly bouncing around from problem to problem. Kenyu saw himself as a pacifist, and when it came to most issues, the most peaceful solution tended to be just dealing with it himself. So when he could solve a problem on his own, and just focus on that? He was in his zone.
That, and to be honest, it was a lot of fun bartending. Sure, there were drunk and rude clients, and it was still undeniably a customer service job, but Kenyu had a flair for the dramatics, and working in a fancy casino bar was the perfect place for them. People tended to be a bit more willing to pay the exorbitant prices charged for drinks if they got a bit of a show.
Kenyu didn't find himself paying particularly close attention to the people he served today, happy just to let the faces blend into a crowd and work almost on autopilot. There was just one person he found himself drawn to.
In a particularly busy moment, Kenyu caught a glimpse of someone new walking through the threshold into the bar. They were…out of place there, in a way that only an employee would recognize. They wore a runner's uniform—a simple shirt, vest, tie, and slacks—which meant they worked here. It was uncommon to get workers going anywhere inside the casino during their break, and they certainly didn't belong here, far as Kenyu was informed.
The most remarkable thing about them at a glance, however, was their hair. It wasn't that often that you saw someone with such long, silky, red-pink hair. It was tied back in such a way that it stayed out of their face, but still flowed smoothly behind them, the motion mixed with their posture granting them an almost regal air.
Kenyu forced his gaze to return to his current customer, letting this mystery person be as he continued doing his job. But as more and more of the people inside the bar finished their drinks or took them onto the gaming floor, they never left the edges of Kenyu's vision—or his thoughts.
Before long, the bar was empty, save for Kenyu and this mystery runner, who was now leaning against the counter and looking rather frustrated. Kenyu wasn't really sure why, but he found his feet carrying him over to them.
"Drinking on the job, princess?"
The stranger didn't even shift their gaze to look at Kenyu before spitting out, "I'm a man, thank you very much." He then very pointedly did shift his gaze, right to Kenyu's, and said, "And yes, if I can do anything about it."
"My bad. Tough day?"
"You don't know the half of it."
"You wanna talk?" Kenyu offered. "Half the job in here is listening to people bitch, so I've gotten pretty good at it."
The man barked out a laugh—a good sign. He looked around the room, eyes slipping over the many, many empty chairs, before saying, "Sure, why not? And maybe you can help me out."
Kenyu smiled, leaning an arm onto his side of the counter. "I'd bet I can."
The man quirked an eyebrow at Kenyu, but shrugged slightly, face shifting from oh really? to might as well in a matter of seconds. He began, "Okay, so—"
"Oh boy," Kenyu chuckled, "off to a great start."
"Hey, you're the one who offered to listen to me bitch," the redhead said with an accusatory point.
"That I did. Please, continue."
"Anyways. As you've probably figured out at this point, I'm a runner here, and…I don't want to say that my job sucks, but I'm…adjusting, right now."
"Understandable," Kenyu said, "any relatively new job is an adjustment."
"Well, that's the thing. I'm not new, not entirely at least. I used to be a runner at another casino that…let's say it ran similarly. I was actually really close to being promoted to a more stable position when one of my idiot coworkers pushed me down the goddamn stairs. The funny part is, I didn't even really fall, I actually managed to stay on my feet. No, I somehow pivoted wrong and hard on my right leg and tore my fucking ACL, so you could imagine I was out of commission for a while."
Kenyu winced, responding with a whistle. "Man, a torn ACL is tough, especially in your position."
"You don't have to tell me twice," the man said, hunching over to lay his head onto his arms.
"And yet you came back to the industry."
"Yeah," he said, gazing into space behind Kenyu, "Guess something pulled me back. Maybe someone. Still not sure." Looking at his eyes, Kenyu never noticed that their color matched his hair. That color was rare enough for hair, but eyes were another story.
Said eyes blinked out of their reverie, flicking over to meet Kenyu's. "Something about you tells me you're gonna get back up quick," he said.
"Pffft, don't flatter me."
"Oh trust me, my flattery is better than that. I mean, there's a reason I called you princess before."
"Sticking with that one, huh? You're starting to sound like my bosses," He scoffed.
"What, would you prefer kitten?”
“Decidedly not, thank you.”
“I mean, I have to use something until I get your name. And may I ask who said bosses are? I must know who I'm being compared to so I can defend my honor if necessary," Kenyu said.
"Chigiri Hyouma, thank you very much. And I work on floor B, under Karasu and Otoya."
“Ah yes, I know those two…very well. They can be pains but they’re good at their jobs and they mean well,” Kenyu sighed. “But what brings you over to this section of the casino?”
“Well,” started Chigiri, “That’s what I was hoping you might be able to help me with. I’m supposed to look for one of the floor managers of this section, but I haven’t been able to find either one. His name started with yu, it was Yuki…Yuki-something, I can’t remember entirely. Oh, and speaking of names, I never asked yours.”
Kenyu had to use every single ounce of willpower in his body not to burst out laughing immediately, as he said, “My name’s Yukimiya Kenyu, co-manager of floor B, at your service.” He even threw in a bow for extra politeness—and to let his face break into a grin without Chigiri seeing.
As Kenyu returned his eyes forward, he saw that Chigiri looked utterly horrified at the newly recognized reality of his situation. Kenyu couldn’t even help it at this point, covering his mouth to muffle his laughter.
“I’m so sorry, sir,” Chigiri said, voice as panicked as his face.
“Please don’t worry about it, this is literally the weirdest situation you could have found me in. And you don’t have to call me sir, Yukimiya is just fine.”
Some of the fear of Chigiri’s face seemed to melt away, as he reached into one of his pockets and pulled out a small flash drive. “Here you go, s—Yukimiya. Far as I know, there’s some information in here about a shared client between floors B and C. The bosses said to let them know if you have any more so you can plan for them.”
Kenyu sighed, grabbing the flash drive out of Chigiri’s hand. “This could have been an email…” he muttered, sticking it into his own pocket.
“Sorry again about that,” Chigiri said, moving to stand. “I can let them know for the future.”
“No, it’s alright, there’s no need to apologize. They always do this. And you were just doing your job,” Kenyu reassured him. “I get it, trust me. Believe it or not, I started as a runner here too.”
“That…” Chigiri trailed off, looking Kenyu up and down. “I can’t tell whether that fits or not. Maybe it’s the glasses.”
“Ah, yeah. I didn’t always have these,” Kenyu said, taking off his glasses to clean them absentmindedly.
“What, did your vision start getting worse as you got older? That’s not too strange.” The question was innocent for sure, Kenyu could tell from Chigiri’s tone, but it was still interesting that he managed to find the one thing Kenyu couldn’t deal with on his own.
“It’s…not quite that.” Kenyu’s face fell a bit, not quite sad, but solemn. “Optic neuropathy. In simple terms, my optic nerves are kinda fucked up. My vision gets blurry when I strain my eyes too much or overexert myself.”
Despite the serious subject, Kenyu found himself chuckling. “You and I are pretty similar, now that I think about it. Both of us being held back by something wrong with our bodies that could potentially fail catastrophically if we push too hard. Who would have thought?”
“I’m not quite sure it’s equivalent. And what do you mean, fail catastrophically?” Chigiri asked, frowning. “I mean, I get it with my situation, but I’m not quite sure how yours could go so wrong. It’s just a bit of blurry vision.”
“Ah, right. Well, there’s…a non-zero chance that I could go blind.”
“Ah. Okay. Yeah, no, that’s…that sucks man, I’m sorry. But I don’t know, I guess I just don’t see either of us as having something wrong, really. We just have different situations to exist in than others. Gotta treat your body like an ally, even if it isn’t quite the ally other people have. Sure, my leg is a ticking time bomb, but it’s still part of me.”
“I admire your ability to see it that way, but you can’t blame me for hating my situation when at the end of every long day my vision is spotty. My eyes are nothing but my enemy at this point, Chigiri.” Kenyu found his name rolling off his tongue for the first time, pointed and dangerous. “Still though, my point stands. We’re two sides of the same coin, I suppose.”
“Yeah, I guess so,” Chigiri responded. The two stood in silence for a moment, until Chigiri checked his watch. “Ah, shit, I have to head back. Bosses are gonna think I’m slacking off if I’m gone for too much longer.”
“Don’t let me keep you,” Kenyu said, a smile returning to his face. But as Chigiri turned to the exit, he found himself calling out to the man one more time. “Hey. If you ever have to rest that leg of yours, you’re welcome in floor C. And let Karasu and Otoya know that if they really need to bring me something to do it themselves. Have them bring you again, though. It’s always nice to have another pretty face around, kitten,” Kenyu said with a wink, slipping in the pet name again just to be annoying.
Chigiri let out a laugh. “I see you’re actually trying to flatter me this time. Alright, will do.” He smiled back at Kenyu one more time before turning to go. Kenyu stared as he walked out, once again captivated by that gorgeous hair. He really had to ask how Chigiri managed to get it that silky. Another day.
Things were busy in Blue Lock casino—but Kenyu may have just found a bit of calm within the storm.

Despite what his name might have implied, Bedman did not enjoy being bedridden. In fact, he despised all unnecessary time spent on a mattress under blankets. After many years and a world destruction attempt stuck to his glorified hospital cot with limbs without even the option to be awake and upright, he wanted to make good use of his newfound agency.
And yet.
Bedman was having a hard time, to put it mildly. He had hardly left from under his covers in nearly three days, only slipping out of his room for bare necessities that weren’t within arm’s reach. And it wasn’t like he was doing anything in there, either. No, the only things keeping him occupied were his mind, perpetually racing, and jarringly dreamless sleep.
Damn his brain. As much as it had been a blessing for him throughout his life, it had provided curses tenfold. Even when it had been calmed to the point of allowing him to function outside of his Nightmare Theater or the like, it still refused to lend him any sort of peace. It could not let go.
