Gerry dropped back and crossed his legs in front of him, resting his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands. “What are you, then?”

“I’m sorry?”

“I’m not stupid.” Gerry frowned. “You’re obviously not human. What are you?”

“I…” his mouth opened, shut, opened again, his expression settling into a deep, grasping uncertainty. He seemed to deflate in on himself, like a balloon losing all of its air. “I’m…Jon, I suppose. Just Jon.”

Gerry squinted suspiciously. “That just sounds like a name.”

Jon gave him a look like he thought Gerry was being a bit stupid. “Because it is.”

Gerry bristled. “Listen, you’re obviously some sort of...time-traveling thing or whatever—”

“It’s not like I can control it!” Jon snapped, quick and instinctive. “Look, what I really want is to find Martin, and I have no idea what’s going on, and—oh you’ve got to be joking—”

With a flash of weight and not-light and a rush of unwinding, Jon was gone again.

Gerry leaned back on his hands for a moment, studying the place where Jon had just vanished. He glanced across the street to confirm the fact that the man standing there hadn’t noticed, before letting out a soft huff of disbelieving laughter.

Synopsis:

"Look, it's- I have to go home for the weekend, it's mum's sixtieth, and I... I told her I was bringing a date. And now Tim can't come, so yeah, you could say I'm a fair amount of stressed about it!"

Till Death, Parted

Synopsis:

Jon gets caught after ripping out Gerry's page by Trevor & Julia, and through a comedy of errors ends up engaged as an excuse. Somehow, Jon gets out alive, Gerry is freed, and they have the two hunters accompanying them as bodyguards - and as best man and best woman - without a fight. Well. That's not so bad, and it's not like Jon actually has feelings for the man he hoped was alive and wanted to meet and who was more honest with him than anyone else has been and is now worried for his safety and willing to fake a relationship together, or anything. That would be ridiculous. Jon's not THAT desperate for support, understanding, and companionship, right? Right. Living alone in Gerry's London safe house afterwards will be totally fine. Jon is fine. He knows what coping is and everything! Totally fine.

Jon is sure that Martin has been acting strangely all morning. And when Martin offhandedly mentions he took a nasty fall while on the way to work, Jon suddenly Knows that Martin got a nasty fracture in his arm. Running the Institute

Synopsis: 

The regular workers of the Institute have to put up with a lot. Caroline Ferguson, the Institute’s Legal consultant is practically a professional at ignoring supernatural weirdness buried under bureaucracy. Doesn’t mean it isn’t still a pain to work in the Magnus Institute what with Artefact Storage’s NDAs, questionable employee behavior at Christmas parties and that’s not even going into the workplace murders.

Synopsis:

Martin gets a closer look at the calendar, and his breath catches in his throat. He's gotten a look at the year, and it's wrong, it's all wrong. 2018. October, 2018. Right there, in Martin's own handwriting, on a Saturday, he's written things on little dates that Martin can't read, because he can't take his eyes off the year. 2018. 2018. They look differently. They have scars they don't recognize. Their hair is longer. 2018. 

Martin seizes the calendar off the fridge and goes back into the living room. Jon's still at the coffee table, poking through the tapes piled there, but he looks up when Martin comes back in and says, "Martin, where…" with a familiar bite in his voice.

Martin ignores him, stops him mid-sentence to say, "Jon, what have you heard about time travel?"
