OH MY GOD ?! 😂 Do you really think you have a chance against Daemon ?! And what's more, you have the nerve to think that he wouldn't dare face you ?! Oh my god... Don't worry boy, he's going to face you. And kill you like shit, in a beautiful tribute to Lucerys.

House of the Dragon really dropped the ball on the changes they made. They could have kept Alicent as ambitious as her book counterpart. She could have befriended Rhaenyra for the power being the Princess' bestie and daughter of the Hand brought her. She could have been Otto's spy or hidden dagger and still be used for Otto's goals of having his blood on the throne.
Making Alicent who, in the books, is a Cersei-level female antagonist, a victim just...fell completely flat and made me despise her so much more than I do Book!Alicent. Book Alicent is a woman in a man's world who knows how to grasp for power not usually afforded to women. In the show, she's pathetic and annoying.
Rhaenyra, too, in the books is a woman who knows what she wants. She wants her birthright. She wants to fight for it. She has loyal followers. In the show they made her a bratty, annoying little girl.
The common denominator? The writers wanted these girls to not be the badass women they are in Fire and Blood and completely destroy their agency and nuance.
It's the same with Viserys, who wasn't blind to Alicent and Otto's treason. He knew they wanted Aegon on the throne. Otto was fired as Hand for bothering Viserys about it constantly.
Daemon's morally grey character was completely wiped and replaced with "this man is a villain only and he is a bad guy." In the books he's both good and bad, doing villainous things for reasons he sees as good. He loves his family, he never wanted the throne in the book; he had so many chances to usurp Viserys and never took them. He never killed Rhea Royce, he was at war; he begged Viserys to annul the marriage. Otto convinced Viserys to fire him from his positions as Master of Coin and Law, he didn't do a bad job, he was shunted from those potions because of Otto's dislike of him and Viserys' people pleasure nature.
Rhea Royce was also older than Daemon when they got married. Daemon was a boy of 16 and forced to marry her, literally dragged to the Sept against his will; but no one is complaining that he was a child groom, which he was, but because he was a boy it's okay? No. Rhea was older than him and gladly married him. That's fucking gross.
Y'all complain about Daemon grooming Rhaenyra - that never happened. Grooming is how Viserys II (son of Rhaenyra and Daemon) was forced to marry Larra Rogare and she, a TWENTY YEAR OLD WOMAN, fell pregnant with his child when he was THIRTEEN YEARS OF AGE. He was also held captive by her family in Lys for years. He likely had Stockholm syndrome.
Also, Rhaenyra adores Laena in the books. They're best friends. Daemon loves Laena in the books, and is utterly gutted by her death. Laenor is killed by Qarl with WITNESSES in Spicetown and Rhaenyra and Daemon wait a YEAR to marry, the acceptable mourning period. They then had years of happiness on Dragonstone, and they ADORED their children.
Rhaenys isn't a robot bitch queen, and her claim to the throne was dismissed by JAEHAERYS not the council. The council was between Viserys and Laenor, a boy of seven. Corlys wanted his son named King, not his wife. In the books, he's in his 30's and Rhaenys is SIXTEEN when they marry and he's a misogynistic POS.
It's also likely that Jace, at least, is Laenor's son with the Baratheon features because Rhaenys has black hair because her mother was a Baratheon.
Aegon isn't a rapist chad boy in the book. Aemond didn't "accidently" kill Lucerys. He meant to actually kill him. He demanded Luke's eye or his life at Storms End. He's an actual psychopath and commits genocide in the Riverlands and likely didn't care much for Alys Rivers. She was just his mistress/whore. AEMOND IS EVERYTHING OTTO SAID DAEMON WAS = A MONSTER. that's the whole fucking point of them being compared to one another. Daemon isn't Maegor come again, AEMOND IS. THAT IS WHAT IS IRONIC.
It's like the writers looked at the book and went "no thanks" and wrote their own really fucking bad Fire & Blood fanfic because they're green sympathisers.
Greens = antagonists in the Dance
Blacks = protagonists in the Dance.
And Ryan Condal saying we're gonna change to green sympathisers? He really wants the fandom to be RAPE APOLOGISTS? fuck no. The greens can fucking choke. Ryan can fucking choke.
The show completely obliterated these characters in the worst ways, removing most of their agency and nuance.

I have my criticisms regarding Rhaenyra, but my hatred for team green and their misogyny disguised as jokes makes me support her.
Real, cause they turn every critical conversation about Rhaenyra into justification for her being usurped because of her gender + her eventual murder. It's not even about the character at this point, I just refuse to be affiliated with them or their misogyny in any way, shape, or form. The way they act over a fictional character is very troubling and I wouldn't be surprised if that carries over to how they act in real life.

green stans: rhaenyra is a horrible person!! she birthed BasTards and is trying to put them on the throne! that’s TREASON!!! she’s TERrible. she gets away with EVERYTHING!! UgHHh
also green stans: ignores that fact that aegon has bastards by the women he either assaulted or sleeted with despite the fact that he has a wife, also ignores the fact that he enjoys watching said bastards fight to the death among each other. ALSO ignores the fact that crisption has gotten away with everything since he’s been on the kings guard.
ALSO green stans: rhaenys is terrible for murdering those people.
then ignores that alicent also just murdered a bunch of people.
edit: I’m simply talking abt the hypocrisy of green stans. don’t care if you like them or not, really but i did not like the whole bastard talk that only resulted in y’all looking stupid. also don’t like daemon. anti daemon from day one.

Someone sent it to me (thank you). To be clear - I don't know this person. I don't know who she is, I don't know her privately and I didn't ask her to. She spams my blog, compares me to a racist, then defends me, sends weird messages, then insults others.
I've had a discussion with @thesunfyre4446 more than once. I can insult team green, I can insult Alicent, but these are fictitious people, and I did not insult the author of the post personally. Nor did I ask this person to do so.
You can insult each other, but I don't want it to be about me.

Cersei Lannister & Rhaenyra Targaryen:
Are forced to marry someone they don’t love, so they find solace in the arms of a family member and commit incest
Seduce members of the Royal Guard
Have their husbands murdered because they didn’t like them
Have three bastard kids
Commit atrocities to claim the Iron Throne
Betray their allies when they feel threatened
Rule with fire and blood
Live in constant paranoia so they murder innocent servants whom they believe will betray them, even if said betrayal would be a direct consequence of the way they treat their subjects
Are hated by the people
and lets us not forget the -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But no, please go ahead and tell me all about how Rhaenyra is this feminist icon who has the divine right to rule over hundreds of thousands of people because her daddy said so, therefore if I don’t support her I’m a misogynist.

I will never forgive HOTD for making me sit through TWO Rhaenyra births and TWO Rhaenyra weddings…
But never having us see Alicent’s wedding or births. Scenes that would have forced the fans to confront the true reality of how despicable her situation is. It would force viewers to see a child, devastated, as she walks down the aisle to her creepy old man of a husband. It would force viewers to watch a little girl have a child. Completely unprepared and alone, crying for her mother and finding no sympathy. She has no father to protect her. No mother to guide her and comfort her. No husband who cares about her.
It would force team black to stop seeing her as the evil seductress, for even a moment. And see her true vulnerability. See how she doesn’t, and never did, want this. See how these are not consequences of her actions, but instead the consequences of the men around her that she has to suffer for them. Because they don’t care about her. Viserys doesn’t care about her.
These are scenes that are meant to bring sympathy to her character. To give Alicent a reason to be righteously angry at the family and system that broke her down and stole her childhood. It gives Alicent a valid motive to fight aside from fear. And it takes away the chances for team black to deny her suffering at least a little bit.
Because as the current narrative sits, it’s easy to ignore Alicent’s experience and warp it into a much more pleasant story. They see Alicent “seducing” the king and then she is already married. And then she’s pregnant and the babies magically appear. No screaming or crying or bleeding involved. All is good. The teenager definitely didn’t suffer at all. And by doing this some people can’t sympathize as much or they are given allowances to intentionally not sympathize.
Instead. The current narrative allows for Alicent to be the seductress, the crazed woman, the jealous bitch, and the villain. But if we saw what she actually went through. Alone, scared, suffering, neglected, and holding it all in. We would be allowed to see her as she truly is. The victim. Finally crushing under the weight of it all and lashing out.
(And the narrative would be all the better for it because instead of feminist icon team vs crazy trad wife and co (as far as team black sees it), we would have woman fighting against patriarchal narrative for her own claim vs woman fighting against patriarchal narrative to destroy the people who hurt her)

Ok, so let me get this straight. My son's bully cuts out his eye after him and three other kids jumped on him ARMED, next thing I know there's an eyeball in a tray and said son is disassociating and wincing in pain while getting stitched up, and the problem is that he called obvious bastards bastards? And I'm supposed to like... Shut up when my abusive husband basically spits on me and my plead for justice? And I'm evil because I rightfully lashed out? And... I'M the one that needs to apologize?
Trust me, Alicent is stronger than me. If I was in Alicent's place, even she would be straight up horrified by the things I'd do if my son's eye was in a tray.

Her horrible night hasn't even begun yet, and she's already picking at her fingers ☹️
Tumblr media
It just makes you wonder how many countless nights she had to endure this. How many times she was woken up because Viserys desired her, and her being able to do NOTHING about it.
She can't refuse the King; he's her husband. She can't refuse her husband; he's the King.
Alicent has to do her duty, and pleasing the King IS her duty.
Even though he mocked her in the Godswood in front of Daemon and Rhaenyra. Even though he laughed in her face. Even though he consistently demonstrates that he thinks less and less of her with each passing day.
Alicent Hightower—despite the late hour, despite the mockery, and despite her dissociating during the act—goes to the King and does her duty.

“The Blacks are on the same level as the Greens.”
“There are no sides to choose, they are all equally bad.”
“I’m the people’s team, but says mostly pro-green things.”
“I'm team Greens because they care about the people !”
Tumblr media
Besides I note that out of 4 crimes out of 2 really counts in my eyes.
Blood and Cheese was a response to the murder of Lucerys, caused by the Greens, and the taxes were the fault of (well get that !) again the Greens who had emptied all the coffers !
Which means that only crimes number 2 and 3 are real crimes for me. And I don't know about you, but they always seem less serious than those of the Greens.

And the thing is GRRM is right. Outside Tumblr which is dominated by culturally Christians, tradwives and tradfems, NO ONE stan Alicent.
George is often right about his statements on characters and their popularity, people just ignore it because they refuse to look at things outside of a fandom lens. Fandom spaces are NOT representative of the general audience and yet people think their echo chambers are all the proof they need. I don't think it's that no one outside of fandom likes her, it's just that the ideas that make her popular in fandom just...don't exist for general audiences. No one is casually watching the show going "Oh Alicent is a feminine woman who has no power to do anything at all so she deserves everything", they dislike how inconsistent and hypocritical she is. They don't treat her like the ultimate victim who shouldn't be judged and rightfully so cause that's actually an insane way of viewing media. And even her stans don't believe it, it's just rhetoric they came up with and use to prop her up.
The thing is that George is very aware of the content and characters he's written and that's something that makes him so entertaining as an author. He has no problem going against the popular and loud fandom ideas and a majority of the time, he's right. I hope he continues to ignore the painfully "fandom" debates surrounding his writing.

people are really crazy to me, you don’t love or hate her, but people not being sympathetic towards her is a red flag to YOU. but then don’t wanna talk abt why. if it all doesn’t matter than don’t interact with the fandom, cause this all people are taking about. don’t make posts like this. don’t hide you tail the minute someone interacts with you.
what do we not get?
What are we not seeing?
i don’t get it.

I’ve never really seen anyone talking about this, but I noticed that one of the main reasons why I am team green is because team green feels like an actual team that is this whole thing together.
Team Green feels connected, united, like a family.
Team Black on the other hand is… meh.
And let me explain why:
Rhaenyra being delusional and thinking that Daemon is actually in love with her when he literally just groomed her since she was a child because he has always been after her title and now wants to be her king consort. They have one of the most toxic, creepy and problematic relationships in the entire fucking show.
Then there is the very awkward and uncomfortable moment of Rhaenyra and Daemon having sex on Laena’s funeral, while Rhaenys, Corlys, Baela, Rhaena and Laenor are mourning the loss of their daughter, mother and sister. How fucking disrespectful is this. And then the fact that they have Laenor “killed” just so they can get married and have their own perfectly blonde targaryen babies.
And Rhaenyra lying about Jace, Luke and Joff to everyone in her very own “team”, trying to gaslight not only Corlys, and Rhaenys but also her own sons into thinking they are trueborn, when even Jace himself. as a child, starts asking questions.
Then there are obviously Rhaenys and Corlys, who for some fucking reason neglected their trueborn granddaughters in favor of some dark haired white bastards their daughter-in-law is trying to pass off as their son’s children. Rhaenys is trying sooo hard to please her misogynistic husband because he so desperately wants his name to go down in history. Then the disrespectful betrothal of Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena. Rhaenyra is literally robbing these poor girls of their rightful claim to Driftmark and usurping them. And now, with Luke being dead, Rhaena’s claim dies with him.
Baela and Rhaena losing their mother, and now their father suddenly remarries, and has two blonde boys. Rhaenys losing BOTH her children and then seeing her son-in-law and daughter-in-law getting married soon after that.
Everyone in team black is after their own ambitions. They lie to each other, they don’t trust each other, they suspect each other in different things, they cheat on each other (with each other) and lie about it, they give each other forced ultimatums, and yada yada. All their scenes feel forced, tense, awkward and uncomfortable. They look so miserable with each other.
Team Green in this sense is the exact opposite.
Although their dynamic is far from perfect, obviously, you cannot deny that they care about each other very very deeply.
Alicent loves all of her children, and even while acknowledging their flaws, she still loves them.
Aemond might’ve been a little envious of Aegon, but he would never turn his back on him. He would never betray his brother, be would never try to take his crown from him.
Aegon was far from being a perfect man and king, but, as we know, it was his love for his family, and the fear of them getting hurt that made him a more responsible person and a more protective father, husband and brother. Sure, he is a cheater, but at least he’s honest about it and doesn’t lie to his wife. He is not a hypocrite.
Criston is working for Alicent not for ambition or for self-gain, but because he genuinely loves her, whether it’s romantic or platonic, doesn’t matter.
Helaena would never betray her family, her brothers, her mother. They are all she has. She would never switch sides even if given an opportunity.
And even Otto, arguably one of the main villains of the whole show, still loves his family. Sure, he is ambitious, but he would never become Corlys level of ambitious.
Team Green feels like they are fighting against the enemy all together, they have the same goals, they feel united and you can feel their devotion to each other. Especially after blood and cheese, when they become closer than ever. They’re in this together and only if they stick to each other, they can make it. It feels genuine and honest. They don’t hide anything from each other, they always have their loved ones’ best interests at heart, they would never in a million years betray each other. Yes, they are all doomed from the start, but their dedication and love to each other is truly something else.

Aegon wears the crown of Aegon I. Maegor the Cruel was the last person to wear the conqueror's crown. Maegor, who murdered his nephew, the rightful heir to the throne, and usurped the throne for himself. He died a tragic death, leaving no heirs, and his line became extinct. The crown is too big, too heavy and doesn't fit his head. The crown doesn't fit him well, it's not for him.
Rhaenyra wears Jaeherys' crown. The last person to wear this crown was Rhaenyra's father, the king chosen by Jaeherys as his heir, Jaeherys who defeated the usurper and did not wear the crown worn by him, but created his own, which was to be a symbol of the return of the rightful line of succession to the throne. The crown fits perfectly on Rhaenyra's head.
