Look, I really like MCU Stucky and it is a good ship, but some of the shippers sometimes make it so hard. They spend time hating on other ships like Steggy and SamBucky, which are ships I also like. I also don’t like that they won’t acknowledge that yes, Steve fell in love with Peggy and was still in love with her in the present, I also think that he would still be in love with Peggy if he had fallen love with Bucky because I think that Steve could love more than one person. Let Steve and Bucky fall in love with more than one person, there is nothing wrong with that.

oh. that's not okay. I've seen some Thorkis attacking people because they prefer bottom Thor in their pairing. There are antis out there who harass unceremoniously but seeing this within the fandom because someone else doesn't follow your hc is scary tbh. There is someone on twitter who is unnecessarily trying to create a problem in the fandom saying bottom Thor art/fics should not be posted under 'thorki' tag, those shippers should use some other tag. Other fandoms might do that but this has never been a problem in thorki fandom. Thorki is an umbrella term like stucky and Stony and why should one half of the fandom stop using it because they don't want to see bottom Thor content. Tagging doesn't destroy a fandom, it is some people who try to control others because they think they are superior bc of their sexual position preference and can suppress minorities who don't follow their headcanon.

This fandom should behave better. It is my comfort ship and I hate to see it ruined for such trivialities.

Roosmav really is the Stucky of the TG universe because even right wing haters see them being in love. I watched a youtube video about TGM and suddenly the comments switched to "If it was a Disney movie, they would have married!" and the haters were so pissed. It was hilarious. Roosmav obviously isn't just seen through shipping glasses and you can take that as a win.

The relationship between Maverick and Rooster really was the heart of Top Gun Maverick, portrayed beautifully by Tom and Miles :3 So I'm not surprised that it resonated with a lot of people, even without the shipper glasses on. I personally (obviously) prefer to see it through a romantic lens, but it's a really lovely portrayal of forgiveness and closure and family. There's clearly a lot of history between Mav and Rooster, but it's not explored in detail in the movies, which makes it perfect ship fodder because there are so many ways for the fandom to fill in the blanks.

And I honestly haven't even seen most of the hate in my 1+ year in the fandom. I know it exists and I know there are (or used to be) a lot of vocal anti-shippers in the fandom who went to some ridiculous lengths to harass people, but I've blocked and ignored them from the beginning, and they've never really made it into my fandom sphere.

Shane is probably trolling with r*ylo the same way he likes to rile up B*cky fans + also that recent tweet about TS new album. He clearly knows how controversial that ship is. Both Ryan and Shane follow Rahul Kohli, and Rahul got harrassed to no end by the shippers for just mentioning the ship this summer. Iirc, both of them even liked Rahul's tweet. So, it's most likely trolling on his part.

The thing is I really do think he likes Reylo (and that's fine; shipping is a neutral activity and I refuse to join a camp that says all ships must be pure and unproblematic when I've been shipping messy ships since I first read the words "enemies to lovers".

Having said that, as someone whose own inner contrarian is activated by antis quite often, I'd say that his genuinely liking Reylo and his wanting to be a troll are two features of his personality that can co-exist.

I respect wholeheartedly the energy of people in fan spaces who interact with the things they know and love with a level of trollishness. I think he and Ryan have that vibe about them where they lean in hard to really rile people up when they can which is why they're so fun to watch together but the thing that makes the opinions less insufferable to me is that I know they mean them.

So yeah, while I'm in the camp of wishing Shane would be more genuine rather than trying to be the funniest quirkiest person in the room sometimes, I hold that in this instance, he's kind of serious.

I do think it's ironic how anti-Stucky they both are by virtue of the opinion that Bucky is dull as hell and yet Shane is out here stanning Dr. Strange like man, what? Make some sense now and then.

And that's the limit of my opinion on the star war ship and a little hint of an mcu opinion.

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

There’s not any I can think of that I don’t get. Like even ships I hate I understand why someone might ship them, even if it’s gross. Even ones that aren’t from the same fandom, who never have or will never interact. Like there’s a vibe, a feeling, a compatibility of personalities that just speak to people for ships like Jelsa. It’s wanting to find love even in the most unlikely of places, which is just such a human thing to want to find that I can’t begrudge them for wanting it. Can I dislike a ship that is like that? Of course, but saying that I don’t get it would be a lie, because I do get it. I get wanting to find the best companion for the characters you love, and sometimes that’s outside of their world.

2. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Oh god yes. Blocked people just on the crime of them being anti tony stark.

3. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

Stucky, god I shipped them back when CATFA came out but then I got death threats from stucky shippers for shipping Steve with Tony post Avengers. Like that’s not how you convince someone to like your ship people!!

4. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

MCU: Peter getting a suit from Tony. Like, I understand wanting Peter to make his own suit and use it and stuff, I really do, but if Tony didn’t give him a suit (specifically iron spider) he would have died In infinity war. Also the whole “wanting Peter to be alone and angsty” is what marvel comics seem to continue doing and everyone hates it, so why hate that mcu was trying not to do that guys what up with that 😭

Omg you and that other anon are so right about stucky fans. I used to like Stucky but so many Tony Antis were stucky shippers and they were just generally so obnoxious, like with their givecapaboyfriend campaign (which would have been fine if they were open to the boyfriend being someone other than bucky, but they weren't, so they were just pretending to care about rep in order to make their ship canon) I just couldn't anymore. Not all stucky shippers are like that sure, but enough of them were.

Honestly, the topic of shipping in this Black Panther fandom has gotten so utterly violent that I'm afraid to even mention other ships, for fear of angering the self-appointed fandom captains.

Like, how Martin Freeman and Danai Gurira casually shipped Okoye and Ross on that one British talk show, which was a fun-sounding unexplored ship to me, but like... am I allowed to say that? If I say it, does that mean I am committing to a lifetime contract of DEEPLY shipping this ship even though I only think it might make a good AU for a fic? Even though I don't care that much, I just think it was cute that these two actors said so? Is it gonna be problematic? Am I supposed to ship anyone else, specifically, with Okoye?

Or how about Ayo and Aneka? Like... I would rather be writing about them than Shuri and Riri, because they're a canon, established Black lesbian couple. But are we supposed to only be focusing on the idea of Shuri and Riri? I like Shuri and Riri, but do I have to want them to be canon?

Is all of this just me covering for my deep, unending love of Shuri x Namor? Am I so deeply into that even I don't know that I'm lying about not caring that much?

Also, like... I have people coming to me because they feel so attacked. And like, every time I go into the tag (you gotta look at new posts, because top posts is just all the posts you've already seen), it's just the same person over and over again telling everyone how much this one group of shippers hates Shuri and "doesn't care about her trauma" (meanwhile, this person cares more about a fictional character than the real, living Black women they're attacking.) And it's like... there's a reason tumblr fandoms created anti tags. So that people who hate stuff can go into the anti tag, and people who like stuff can go into the main tag for the thing. Or at least blacklist each other. Even the most controversial or combative ships, people respect that (with like Reylo and Stucky and Steggy and whatever else causes fanwars a lot). Like, what are you getting out of spending DAYS (and literally only days because the movie just dropped!) just utterly trashing strangers because they don't agree with you.

I have however, seen other shippers being hella rude to Stucky shippers and invading that tag tho, so maybe y’all Stucky-antis should try looking in the mirror.

This is my comfort ship and I gotta say I’m super over this ship-war brainrot that’s been happening. Everyone should ship what makes them happy and just not interact with ones they don’t like.
