I definitely think it takes Eddie a while to accept that Steve changed. He remembers what he was like in high school.

When Steve asks him out, for whatever reason, Eddie says yes. But he’s determined not to fall in love, because deep down Harrington’s still a dick. But he’s cute, and Eddie can smile and play pretend.

But then! Steve goes full happy relationship mode, he tells Robin (obv), introduces Eddie to the other adults as his bf, and is just generally being sweet.

But I really loved the idea of this (the good ol' steddie + misunderstanding about what they mean to each other with a dash of terrible communication skills my beloved) so i wanted to give it my proper attention, which i didn't have enough time for over the past few months. Buuut the words have finally found their way to my keyboard so here is the first part of what probably will turn into a 3-part ficlet, I hope it's something like what you had in mind when you sent this ask to me <3

Eddie has been acting weird all day. Maybe Steve is too much of a romantic, but he can't help it: he wanted to celebrate this day. Exactly a month ago, he asked Eddie out. And it's been good. They've spent a lot of time together. They've been on lots of dates, spent plenty of nights together... But today, things are different, somehow. Eddie is different. He turned Steve down for a dinner date, he didn't stop by Family Video during lunchtime, and when Steve shows up at the trailer to surprise him with flowers, he merely frowns and pulls back from their kiss before it can even properly get started.

'Everything alright?' Steve asks, trying to catch his boyfriend's gaze – which isn't exactly easy with how Eddie is turning away from him to not-so-gently put the flowers down in a corner of the trailer's living room.

'Yeah, sure,' Eddie mumbles, not really looking at him. 'It's just – I didn't really expect to see you today. We didn't have plans.'

Steve chuckles, trying to get the tension out of his chest. 'Didn't know I was expected to schedule an appointment before coming here.' He tries to play it off as a joke, but the tone of his voice doesn't really want to cooperate.

Eddie finally turns back towards him and Steve catches the end of an eye-roll.

'I'm just not feeling too great today, alright?' It sounds a bit stiff and Steve pauses. He wonders if he did something wrong, if he somehow invaded Eddie's space – even though he has showed up at the trailer on countless evenings in the past month.

'What's wrong?'

'Nothing,' Eddie answers, a little bit too fast. 'I told you, I'm not feeling so well.'

And now that he can see his face properly, Steve notices that Eddie is indeed looking paler than usual.

'Hey, don't worry about it,' he says. 'I can stay to take care of you, if you want to. We don't have to do anything. You can go to bed early and I'll keep you company. I can make you some soup, read to you... You could've just told me you're not feeling good, you know. I would've picked up some fruit on my way over here and stopped by the library for you.'

'You don't have to do any of that, Steve.'

Steve tries to ignore the fact that it's been ages since Eddie has last called him by his official first name. He doesn't like the sound of it.

'But I want to,' he says instead. He takes a step towards Eddie, lifts his arms to wrap them around him – but Eddie swats his arms away before he can properly embrace him.

'Don't.' He sounds cold and detached, so different from how he usually sounds. 'Don't act like this is something it isn't.'

'Like this is something –' Steve echoes, completely caught off-guard by this turn of events. 'Like what?'

'Jesus Christ, you really don't know when to stop, do you?'

'What?' He takes a stumbling step backwards, driven away by the force in Eddie's words.

'We're not – like that,' Eddie stutters out. 'We're just fucking around, aren't we? So you don't need to pretend. You don't need to bring me flowers. You don't need to take care of me when I'm sick. You don't owe me anything, alright? You can go home.'

Steve takes another step backwards, until his back collides with the door of the trailer. He blindly grabs the door handle behind him.

'Alright,' he says, trying desperately not to let his voice tremble audibly. 'I hear you, loud and clear. I'll – I'll leave you alone, then.'

“Please be my boyfriend” now don't get him wrong, while your truthfulness is something Albedo appreciates, it might also be the death of him, judging by how fast his heart is beating. “is this a joke of some kind?” You take a seat next to Albedo, looking at him with uttermost seriousness. “My parents think I have a boyfriend and we have a family dinner tonight. You would be an amazing friend if you could pretend to be my boyfriend for tonight.” “I suppose I could…”  your face lights up, getting up from your previous spot on his desk. “You’re the best, thanks bedo!” you press a quick peck to his cheek, missing the way his cheeks are set aflame by your action. When you asked your best friend to be your pretend boyfriend for the night you never accepted him to be so… nice. Albedo isn't exactly known for his social skills in Mondstadt and you expected him to act the part as the reserved boyfriend, knowing how much he dreads social interactions. You were pleasantly surprised to find him at your door, flowers in hand. The rest of the night felt like a dream, or one of those romance novels Lisa enjoys so much. Albedo suddenly became the perfect image of a boyfriend, one that had your entire family swooned. He offered flowers to you and your mother, played with your baby sister and entertained a conversation with your father about Mondstadt politics. He even insisted on taking you home. Arriving at your front door, you turn around facing the alchemist. “thank you bedo, you did great tonight.” Albedo offered you a smile, taking an envelope out of his pocket. “I've read that sending a letter to the person you are courting is considered a romantic gesture.”  he presents the envelope to you, as if he just asked you about the time. Your eyes grow wide, and you can feel your cheeks burning. “i- are you asking me out?” “Indeed I am, and I hope you can return my feelings.” You must be feeling bold tonight, considering you pull the boy by his collar, pulling him into a soft kiss. “so, when's our first date?”

Tighnari

“By any chance do you happen to know a plant that would make my parents forget I don't have a boyfriend yet?” Tighnari is at his desk, reading documents which you assume are forest ranger reports. “I do not. Why do you ask?” you let your body lean on his desk, silently noting the way his ears picked up at the sound of your voice. “My parents are holding a family dinner, which will basically be a lecture about how I am still single.” you sigh, already dreading the yearly family dinner.“is this really an issue?” “Yes, my parents and relatives are a pain in my ass when they want to.”  You both sit in silence for a couple of minutes, an idea forming in your head. “could you pretend to be my boyfriend?? please?” Tighnari put his documents down, now giving you his full attention. “Now, this might work since we have been friends for quite a while now…” While he's trying to keep his composure, Tighnari can't ignore the way his heart jumped at the idea of ‘dating’ you. The forest ranger has been aware for quite some time that his growing affection for you was no longer platonic, so the thought of being able to call you his – even for only an evening – sounded great to him. “I don't see why not.” You smile upon hearing his answer. “perfect! I'll see you tomorrow!” 

Dinner with your family was relatively nice. It might be because your parents are too busy bombarding Tighnari with questions to pay attention to you or perhaps it's because Tighnari is by your side, hand on your thigh. The whole family seemed pleasantly surprised by your boyfriend, your cousins going as far as asking you for boy advice – something you never thought would happen – all due to Tighnari's acting. Acting that seemed a little too real, so real that you're reminded of why you came to develop romantic feelings for your long time friend. Your family deemed Tighnari worthy of you, especially your mother, who seemed overjoyed to know you're in a relationship with such a serious, handsome young man. Both of you announced that you were leaving when questions about childrens and marriage came into the conversation. Tighnari insisted on walking you home, keeping up the boyfriend act until you reached your house. “Now that we're done pretending, can I take you out on a real date?” you're not sure if you heard him correctly, heart beating so fast it's all you can hear. “what?” “i like you, can i take you out on a date?” oh, ok so you did hear him right. to say you're happy is an understatement, you're not even able to keep a straight face, smile forming without your own accord “yes, I'll look forward to it”

You enter Lambad's Tavern and let your body fall on one of the chair at a table. Your friends; Kaveh, Tighnari, Al-Haitham and Cyno move their attention from their TCG game to you. Kaveh is the first to break the silence. “What's the matter?” you sigh “family dinner. I may or may have not told my parents that i have a boyfriend.” you can hear the quiet snort Al-Haitham lets out, probably thinking you dug that grave yourself. “so.. when's the dinner?” “tomorrow night.” Tighnari lets out a long sigh, putting down his cards. “you're fucked, i dont think you'll be able to get a boyfriend on such short notice” a few rounds of TCG are played in silence while you try to find an reason your parents would believe as to why your boyfriend couldn't make it. Kaveh, having lost yet another round, put his cards down. “hey Cyno you said you didn't have anything to do this weekend right? why don't you go with y/n?”  an innocent smile arbording his lips

It's not the usual, super serious, downright scary look he always has. He looks at you like you're a gift from the gods''  To say you are taken aback is an understatement. Cyno? looking at you like that?? there is no way, you would have noticed. if not Kaveh would have probably said something. Since you’ve let slip out your feelings for the general, Kaveh has been trying to push the both of you together, which lead to several awkward moments. The ride home is quiet, Cyno insisted on taking you home even after you left your family's house. He suddenly stops, and turns to you, serious as ever. “I know you have feelings for me, and I do too. I’ve been reading your well researched, thoroughly cited, beautifully written posts for a while now (learned of you via Empress’ blog), and I just wanted to send a general “Thank You” for all of your fantastic work! Much appreciated!

For those of us who’ve followed this Harkle Debacle, with increasing fascination and disbelief, since the 2016-17 pre-engagement era, your timelines, in particular - with article links, bless you! - have been incredibly enlightening in retrospect. They’re the perfect chronological tool to step back, take a deep breath, and to summarize/evaluate what’s happened thus far…in anticipation of what’s on the near horizon in 2024.

There seem to be numerous indicators that something HUGE will break soon (WME exit? divorce? surrogacy revelations? litigation from the BRF? who knows?…but “something”), and reviewing the saga to this point helps to put things in perspective. Not to mention, the gloating satisfaction (ngl) that our suspicions about H/MM were spot on. And an added plus is falling down the rabbit hole to read the DM comments section from 4 - 7 years ago lol. Many were understandably naïve, but so many more were eerily prescient. 

So, kudos to you (and Empress, Plant, Sassy, and all of the other great fandom bloggers) who have helped to “shine a light” haha not only on the UnSussexfuls, but also on the nature of PR, on the larger BRF, and especially on the wonderful Waleses, who have only grown in stature and resolve through all of this. Great work! Thank you!

I’ve seen indicators that something big is happening in 2024 in many different places. Usually when I see the same thing in different places that have no connection to each other, that tells me things are aligning in the universe. 

I’m leaning towards it having to do with Samantha Markle’s lawsuit. Rumors from California that WME and her lawyers have been urging Meghan to settle.

A dose of skepticism is always healthy, though. Particularly with the Sussexes, there are certain sources who’ve been promising a takedown month after month, season after season, year after year. that has yet to be delivered. Remember, all of this is for entertainment only and if you find yourself taking it too seriously or getting too angry or feeling too let down, it’s perfectly fine to take a break.

Hi, it's me, that one anon who constantly sends you walls of text where I point out every single detail that I notice in characters' fur colours and eye shapes or their names.

I'm sorry for my long-ass messages but your comic is a wonderful example of how time, creativity and love can create a brilliant creation. I reread your comic often cause I constantly find new details and references. I really think about making a whole document and write down everything I notice. But you know what all of that tells me? How much you love your work and how much time you send on doing it. It's the background (colours of the sky while introducing Diamond, or when Hope and Storm meet when they're older), it's the details (a tree that Diamond and Amber use to climb has claw marks on it, many people would forget to include it there), it's the character designs (the similarities in Hope's family and how you can tell they're family by little details), it's the references to the story itself (Adamant saying that Hope's hunt was intense as a reference to her first hunt) and so much more. I know why I love your comic so much - it's cause you guys love it so much and you put that love in it. Me, and I believe other folks here, will never be greatful enough for creating a comic where we don't have to face sexism, homophobia, ableism, where we have a great representation and we can be inspired to create our own characters and stories. So, thank you <3

I didn't expect to read something like this but I'm glad I did! I really imagine it like this, fem!bby reader would be a Helen of Sparta and one of the pivots of war (just like the original), but it would be fun to imagine this dynamic. Now I had ideas.

Alicent wants to marry male bby!reader to Helaena (before she marries Aegon), while Rhaenyra wants to marry Jace to Helaena and, if she can help it, her precious bby would be single but if not, then one of her stepdaughters. While they fight each other, bby!reader is living his best life with his uncles.

Aegon wants to make his favorite nephew enjoy life his way (drinks and whores) while Aemond disapproves of his brother's conduct and the two fight about it. And Criston is about to run a sword through Aegon if he keeps trying to corrupt his bby. Harwin is just having fun and trying to be closer to bby!reader, much to Cole's dismay.

Fem!bby reader delusions would be awesome, because I super I imagine this scene really going on! But it's more fun to read the male!bby reader wondering if he was a woman because he knows it would be a worer to the approach of his family. Especially between Aegon and Aemond, but I can see fights between Jace, Aegon and Aemond... Well, much more from what they already fight about the male!bby reader...

If you mean this literally and not metaphorically or figuratively, I can say first of all that this is very humbling and surprising to me, that something like my lil Doctor Who fanfic can give you so much motivation to keep going on hard days. Good stories are so great because they mimic truth, and beauty, and goodness, and those qualities are found infallibly in proper hope: Jesus Christ. Also, i want to share a very messy Capitano brainrot or a very random thought that have been plaguing my mind for the past few weeks 💀 and its about him having separation anxiety (or fear of losing someone he loves), especially towards *cough* fragile!reader *cough*

I know it is VERY ooc of him, but to me just the thought of someone like him having that just tug a string in my heart 😔

Just think about it, that man must have been through a LOT before he became known as the strongest individual in teyvat and being feared by many people, even being called a monster bcs of how strong he is when he is on the battlefield. Even how bloody his hands are, there's still "someone" (cough reader cough) who really cares/loves him, accept whoever he is and makes him happy. But suddenly that person fell sick and their health keeps deteriorating everyday while he doesn't know what to do to make his sick lover better? (Sure, he can protect reader from any harm. But, can he protect them from getting unknown disease?) Don't mind me, i'll just lie down here and cry-

Also i have this scenario in my head, like the way he walked so fast as soon as he finally touches the front door of their shared home when he came back from expedition just to find reader. After those few words he lets out, you know he didn’t mean for you to hear them, but now you have and you’ll do your best to reassure him. You were sitting in your shared room in the compound reading on of your favorite books while you waited for Nat to return from her Solo mission. She had been gone for 3 days and you missed her terribly especially since it was a no contact mission.

She was due to come home that afternoon so you looked up and asked “Hey Jarvis, any status on Nat and when she’ll be home?”. “Good afternoon Agent Y/L/N, the quinjet should land in about 10 minutes. Agent Romanoff however seems to be in some state of panic, her heart rate is elevated and her breathing fast and uneven. Would you like me to alert Dr. Banner?”, the AI answered and your smile fell.

It wasn’t like Nat to show when something is wrong, so when Jarvis could sense it something had gone seriously wrong. “No thank you Jarvis, do you have more information about the mission?”, you asked concerned already getting ready to make your way to the landing pad. “Only that Agent Romanoff completed the mission succesfully”, said the AI and you answered “Thank you Jarvis”.

Once you grabbed one of her hoodies and threw it on before you quickly walked to the landing pad. You were pacing nervously until you saw the quinjet. Once it landed you waited patiently for Nat to come out, scared to see in what condition Nat would be.

As she slowly walked out you could already see that she was pretty shaken up but did thankfully not seem as panicky anymore. Whatever happened on the mission hit her hard. Eventhough you’ve been a couple for over a year already you’ve never seen her in that state. Almost like she lost all of her self control so you knew you had to be careful about your next steps.

Walking to her slowly you said softly “Hey Natty”. You could see her green eyes finding yours as she tried to give you a small smile, stopping in front of you. She seemed smaller than usual. “Can I touch you?”, you asked not ready to take any risks in her fragile state.

Hesitation crossed her face for a moment before she nodded slowly. It broke your heart to see her like this. You gently laid your hands on her arms and rubbed them softly, feeling her shaking under your touch. “Come on let’s get you inside”, you whispered and pressed a light kiss to her head before walking her inside.

As you reached the common area you shot the others a glare and shook your head before they could even say something. She didn’t need any comments from the others that would upset her even more right now. Tony closed his mouth again and gave you a small nod, knowing better than to mess with you when it came to Nat.

As you reached your shared room you helped her take off her jacket and saw that she was bleeding at her shoulder and side. Looking into her eyes you asked “Tasha you’re bleeding. Can I take care of them?”. Natasha’s eyes found yours as she shot you a confused look at first and only then realizing she was hurt. She nodded softly and let you guide her into the bathroom.

Nat watched you carefully as you made her sit on the closed toilet seat and got out the first aid kid. She could never tell you how much she appreciated your gentleness and carefulness. Once you cleaned her wounds, them thankfully not being that deep so you could just patch them up you brought her back to bed and helped her change into a pair of your pjs.

Getting some water for her you squatted down in front of her and handed her the bottle as you asked “Can you have some water for me?”. She took the bottle and drank a few sips before giving the bottle back to you with shakey hands. Placing it aside you took her hands in yours and asked softly “Can you tell me what happened Natty?”.

You didn’t wanna pressure her but her behavior worried you to say the least.

It took her a minute, playing with your fingers and getting herself ready to open up. You just let your hand go limp in hers knowing playing with your finger brought her the comfort she needed right now.

„It was more or less a trap. I got in without many problems but they knew I was there. On the way out I was exposed to some synthetic gas, a new weapon from hydra. I could hear the voice from one of them telling me that I’m about to relive my worst nightmares and Y/N he was right“, she started and I could tell it was bringing her relief but also pain to talk about it. Tears built up in her eyes as she continued „“I saw all of the faces from the people I’ve killed. Kids starring at me innocently before I killed them. All of the pain that I managed to forget from the red room washed up again. I somehow made my way out but it reminded me of how much red is still in my ledger“.

It broke your heart as she said that. Sitting down next to her you took her into your arms and gently dried her tears as you calmed her down. Once she was a little calmer you took her face in your hands and said „Natasha, I need you to listen to me now okay? All of this is in the past. Yes you did bad things then but you’ve done more good. You wiped out all of the red in your ledger as brought down the red room. It’s clean and you’re a good person. I’m sorry they made you go through that again but I need you to know that this is not who you are anymore“.

You could tell that Nat needed those more than she’d ever admit. „Thank you“, she mumbled and you gently kissed her forehead. You could tell that it helped but she was exhausted and still a little shaken up. Dwelling on the topic wouldn’t help so you suggested „How about I make some tea now and then we’ll cuddle up in bed and watch a movie?“.

Nat just nodded at that so you pressed another kiss to her forehead and quickly made your way into the kitchen to get her her favorite kind of tea and her favorite snacks. Once back in your room you cuddled up in bed together Nat in your arms as you put on her favorite movie.

You knew from the start that she wouldn’t last through the whole movie but as Nat realized she couldn’t fight off the exhaustion much longer she slowly moved out of your arms and said „I’ll probably have nightmares tonight. Maybe you should sleep somewhere else, you need your sleep“.

However you were having nothing of it. Taking her face in your hands you looked her deep in the eyes and said „Listen Natty. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll always be here for you and if you’ll have nightmares tonight I’ll be there to calm you and comfort you. I don’t care if I won’t get much sleep tonight. I promised you the day we got together that I’ll always keep you safe even if its from the demons that haunt you at night. I’m not breaking that promise. I’ll keep you safe, I’m not leaving“.

A sleepy smile appeared on Nat’s lips as she said „I know, you’re my safe place. I love you. Thank you“. She cuddled deep into your arms and you wrapped your arms tightly around her as you mumbled „Always, I love you more“.

You felt her smile into your chest before you kissed her forehead and she fell asleep. You couldn’t feel happier that she felt safe with you, helping you rest easier as you drifted of as well, ready to face whatever the night will bring.

It might not always seem like it but I promise you guys I have things I do with my time and energy other than this. So that part of this is trying to do what I can for them, but for the most part, I just enjoy sitting around gossiping and hearing what everyone's got to say. If it gets to be too much, I close the inbox, no big deal.

All this to say, I appreciate the thought, but I'm good! Seriously. Someday (probably sooner than later) this will all be over and I'll be okay with that, but for now, it's all good.

I just wanted to update you: turns out the reason I felt so horrible was because during that week, I took out my IUD and went hormone free for the first time since 14. I must have been experiencing some weird hormonal hurricane. I have suffered from severe body dysmorphia in the past but that was between ages 16 and 20 - I've mostly been over it. But I was so shocked to experience that feeling of self hatred and digust with myself again after so many years. I felt so hopeless and doomed, as if the world was ending and I need to accept that I am somehow disfigured. It sounds almost ridiculous now that I'm typing it out.

I feel much better now once my hormones have regulated a bit. I can't even get back to the mindset I was in when I sent you that ask. I guess I'm sending you this update also as a word of caution? Don't get me wrong, I am still a big supporter of BC but damn I was not prepared for the deep black emotional hole I briefly fell into once I got my IUD removed... it really makes me wonder about the type of person I would have been during my teens if I wasn't put on hormonal BC just because of acne and painful periods...

I know lots of women when going off, or switching, or trying hormonal bc, they experienced a very similar change in their mood that really effected them. It’s definitely something we should talk about because while hormonal bc is a great option, it’s not the only one (and there’s so many choices of hormonal bc to boot!) and I see a culture of pushing it on women early and for every reason under the sun. We need to take it very seriously and be open about the side effects. It’s disappointing to see doctors treat it like a magic pill instead of extremely strong hormonal prescription.

In a perfect would, the medical industry would also constantly be improving our options and improving hormonal bc. I don’t think it’s the priority. The care and understanding that different women with different lives need different things, doesn’t always seem to matter to everyone in health care.

But at least by being honest about our experiences, we can help fill in the gaps and better prepare other women to make the right choice or at least ask questions when with her doctor.
