...this is probably only a temporary title. Yeah, I can't believe I signed up for this, but here we are 😂

Pairing: Steve Rogers x reader WC: 290 Warnings: none so far, not in this peek anyway 🤭 ...mention of claustrophobia?

“Hm… I think we should play,” Natasha said, earning at least five shocked stares, including yours.

“What?!”

“We should definitely not,” Steve protested, leaning forward with a very displeased frown, his eyes as if burning as he glared murderously at Natasha for entertaining the trickster’s whim.

“I mean… why not, after all? Two people in a closet, in cramped space? What is not to enjoy?” Bucky added, clearly changing his mind about going to bed. He was next at the receiving end of Steve’s disapproval.

“Ask a claustrophobic, I’m sure they’d come up with a reason or two,” you hummed, earning a sardonic ha ha from the dark-haired supersoldier.

“I mean… who knows. Could be magical,” Tony wiggles eyebrows.

“Are we back to 13 going to 30?”

Wanda, Pepper, Maria and Sam said NO with impressive coordination.

“I must say I am intrigued as I cannot quite see the appeal. It would be an enriching experience for me to understand. What is the worst that can happen?” Vision questioned.

“You did not just ask that,” Sam complained.

“Please tell me it’s just a closet and not some sort of a portal to Narnia?” Pepper chimed in again, Loki’s smile surprisingly pleasant as he turned to her.

“It is simply a closet, my dear Lady Potts.”

“I don’t know you guys, it still sounds like a pretty bad idea,” you chuckled nervously as you felt the air shift towards agreement to participate in this ridiculous game.

“Seconded,” Steve grunted by your side.

“Too bad, I’m getting an empty bottle,” Tony blurted out as he jumped to his feet and reached for the nearest bottle indeed.

It was the perfect opportunity to walk away; it was the last chance to get out.

You didn’t.

Damn Anika, can’t people have an opinion? Can’t someone share that they don’t personally like y/n stories when tumblr is filled to the brim with them? I’m not op of that post, but your comment was salty as fuck. You also don’t seem to understand that it’s extremely difficult to filter out y/n fics, because everyone tags memes with x reader and y/n, so if you filter those, we lose half of our feed. Yeah whatever op tagged actors on their post. The real problem is everyone tagging x reader on unrelated memes/shitposts

Anywho. I sat on this ask for like 24 hours so I could give it a good think and properly respond. Also, I have a life.

Bottom line? I don't give a rat's ass if OP doesn't like reader inserts! They have every right to dislike something. They can have an opinion. I'm fine with that. And I DO understand that it's damn near impossible to filter out tags for "x reader" or "/reader" cause it's per character and tumblr barely recognizes tags, let alone partials. I'm not disputing that at all. I agree that everyone should properly tag and stop adding unrelated characters, actors, pairings, etc. So we're on the same page so far!

But yes, I'm salty about the OP tagging actors on an unrelated post that therefore dropped said post right on my doorstep aka my dashboard because I happen to be following one of said actors in the tags. Did I have to comment? No. I could have and should have just scrolled on, but I'm biased when it comes to reader inserts. Writing and reading them has been an amazing part of the past 6 years of my life and it's also how I've met several of my best friends online, many of whom I've now met in person. It's a great community. So yeah, I piped in. With my whole-ass username and actual face attached to the comment. Weird, right? Accountability is a wild concept.

Here's an analogy for you. Let's say that everyone's blogs are houses on a street. We all have our home base (dash) where we can choose what comes in (follow other blogs and tags) and speak whatever opinions we have in our own space (post whatever we want). I'm not gonna try to stop anyone from doing anything in their own house. Do your thing! Curate your space!

But. If I happened to be driving down the street (aka scrolling) and OP happens to be waving a sign (tag) with a subject I care about and yelling something, I might roll down my window to hear what they're saying and GASP...respond. I'm allowed to do that. OP and others don't get to get pissy about MY opinion that I wouldn't have needed to share if I never saw the post.

OP put their opinion in the public space by tagging nonsense and now, here I am. Tumblr does seem to be the space for reader inserts so, might I suggest that those who dislike them use AO3 or Wattpad where it's easier to filter? Especially if tumblr is "filled to the brim with them"? Just a suggestion. :)

So, now I'm gonna go back to reading and writing my silly little reader inserts cause I can and no longer think about this interaction.

i do think oh so frequently about the dsmp fandom's response to c!Tommy's trauma, but it just works so well as an exaggerated example of what happens in other fandoms. like. the idea was that he was villianised by fans for turning angry and mean after being abused, which was seen as an inherent flaw rather than a trauma response, right? because it didn't fit into the way fictional abuse victims are treated like objects of pity in fandoms.

and a lot of ppl thought this was happening bc people who turn bitter and angry and lash out due to trauma are never represented in media, but... they are. lol. i can name like 3 off the top of my head, one of them being from a show made in the 70s-80s. it's just that they either got the same treatment on a smaller scale (because the DSMP fan culture was essentially a 10-year fandom compressed into a year or 2), or they just. ignore it. they pretend that they were the "perfect victim" all along, mischaracterise them in the popular fanon, turn their anger issues into a palettable sort of anxiety disorder, morph their PTSD symptoms into something sympathetic rather than what they find to be too mean or scary.

they'll insist that they're misunderstood, but what they mean is that their actions "weren't that bad" or "were perfectly justified". there's no middle ground lmao bc they can't accept that the sympathetic traumatised character could have done bad things due to said trauma without their victim deserving it. c!Tubbo didn't deserve to be told that he was worth less than the discs, but c!Tommy is not an irredeemable monster, nor was he justified in saying that. Zuko was a 16-year-old boy living in the shame caused by his abuse, and he was absolutely horrible to his crew, burned down suki's village, and constantly turned on people who were only kind to him. like this feels like such a stupid thing to type, that people can do awful things that you don't need to justify but you also don't have to hate them forever. like.

ik this felt like a DSMP-centric issue bc it was a lot of ppl's babys-first-fandom (both the ppl defending and condemning ctommy, though more of the latter), but isn't it obvious how people were filled with sympathy for Hawkeye and disdain for BJ? how this has always been a problem?

Ok, so I know no one asks for this, but I am going to write about how I see Pimika. And yes, this has been influenced by fics because that's the only pimika content I can find, so to the pimika writers, thank you so muchh

So basically, my headcanon is that Pim has been in love with Anika since they were like 15-16. They had known each other before he fell for her, and damn it, he fell hard.

I see Pim as a large teddy bear, and by that, I mean he can be very sweet, but he also has the barrel roughness. And I picture Anika as a properly rough woman, that loves to get into fights (bc she enjoys them and the barrels full of disgusting pricks) and she has a bit of a temper, and I picture her as quite tall and muscular, with lots of tattoos.

These aren't relevant by eh. Also, I headcanon Rotty as both their closest friend and I think that he laughs at how in love Pim is with her and how oblivious she is to it, AND I can just picture these three getting into fights against other gangs a lot and if one of them started the fight its usually Anika. By the way, Anika is like super loyal and can be kind but only to those she truly cares about, and she will deny it (kinda like Kaz)

I don't know how I would picture them getting together so here's one possibility, Anika starts to question Pims strange behaviour and it only clocks whilst she's falling asleep and she's like how the hell did I miss it. So then she starts to look at Pim in a different light and then you know...

So after they get together, Pim is the one who treats Anika like a queen (not that he didn't before, but like ✨️extra✨️ now). And Anika gets a little (tiny) but more affectionate towards Pim, and Kaz realises this, and he laughs bc he's happily with Inej, but he, of course it a lil bit like "everyone's going crazy".

New picture I have created in my mind: Pim and Anika fighting other barrel gangs and Pim looking at Anika beating the shit out of someone with so much love in his eyes

I have, for whatever reason, thoughts and opinions on the Muppets' individual cooking habits

Kermit does the best he can with the groceries he can afford, but at one point he spent an entire month eating nothing but cup noodles. He tries his best to eat relatively but he's realistic about it, so he's always got some low-effort junk in the freezer. He gets takeout every couple weeks + for emergencies (bad news, long day, mentally incapable of cooking)

Gonzo makes the shittiest depression meals you've seen in all your life. On a good day he'll microwave a frozen hotdog and eat it with a flour tortilla. He'd live off of junk if it wasn't more expensive than the box of plain saltines he had for dinner

Idk the muppet lore too well but Miss Piggy gives "came from money, does the show for passion" in a way that the rest of them don't. She has normal meals but better because she has nicer ingredients + isn't as worn down from the stress of making a living in the arts so she'll do things like having her morning toast with avocado and a fried egg and making her own garlic confit. She hosts most of the group dinners/holidays

Scooter is young enough to get away with living off KD and Eggos. He still has time to pull himself together

Wayne and Wanda make exclusively casseroles and bland chicken. Wanda is one hell of a baker though

Fozzie has a tendency to burn things, and has caused more grease fires than the rest of them put together. He rarely tries to make anything complicated anymore, and sticks mainly to sandwiches. He makes really good sandwiches

Rowlf is actually a really good cook but in a casual sorta way. He makes a lot of stir fry and soup and even bakes his own bread, just things that aren’t that difficult but are still really good

Sam the Eagle would follow a meal plan like a very mature and responsible adult. I have no idea what would be on that meal plan because I am not a mature and responsible adult, but he gets his food groups in there
