MUSICA E FUMETTO DAI BEATLES A DE ANDRÉ
MUSICA E FUMETTO DAI BEATLES A DE ANDRÉ

What Lost and Found Means To Me
Hello again, everyone! I apologize for the lack of content in recent months, it's honestly become harder and harder to find new material, especially without there being a current Ben 10 series to focus on. This is the longest time we've had without an incarnation of the show running since the hiatus between Omniverse and the Reboot!
So I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this blog as a whole. I've been doing this since I was about 16 or 17, I'm 24 now. That's kindof crazy, huh? And granted, the place has had ups and downs, more recently downs due to a lull in the content, but that doesn't mean I'm not still working on stuff behind the scenes. I'm still trying to find another home for my research, a more permanent home that I have better control over how the content is presented.
I'm also trying to get into game development so a certain project from my past, prior to 2016, can finally come to fruition. But we'll get into that another day... hopefully.
I had an interaction last night with a follower who reached out to me about who the painter was for the alien stills featured during the Original Series, as their university had asked for art pieces that inspired them to pursue art. Of course, I answered "Andrew C. Robinson", which the answer was met with huge thanks.
That's always been part of why I do this, you know? To put a spotlight on all the artists and other incredibly talented people that make (or made) this franchise come to life in the various ways it has. Not just Dave Johnson or the late Derrick J. Wyatt, but everyone.
There could be so much more out there that I don't know about or have access to, or could be tucked away in the distant, obscure links of the Wayback Machine, or somebody could come forward with something rare like the Leapster Exclusive Concept Art, but I'm just one silly girl with a blog. You'd be surprised how much work goes into looking for this stuff!
But I'm glad my contributions to the fanbase haven't gone unnoticed. From people like KuroTheArtist, all the way to just a handful of people who work on the show itself, I'm grateful I've gotten to leave some kind of mark.
Don't take my wording as like, meaning I'm going to stop though. This isn't a "I'm done with this" type post. As long as there's still material out there to find, I'll keep this going for as long as I'm able.

I'm in love with "The Fifth Beatle: The Brian Epstein Story" by Vivek Tiwary, Andrew C. Robinson & Kyle Baker
The 10th anniversary edition appeared in 2023. I got it for Christmas.
I love it because it's not an illustrated biography (nor is it a Beatles book)—it is a journey into Brian's mind. The illustrations are expressive and unusual. The writing tells truth as poetry. It's worthy of a man who saw what others could not—and made it his mission to share it with the world.
Tumblr media
It shows the nights of Liverpool, where Brian learns that love is dangerous, and the stylish success of the family business, where he's Mr. Brian.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The magic moment when he meets the band that will be the life and death of him. The majestic bullfight of fame and love begins...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The book gives him an ally, an angel, a demon.
Tumblr media
The rejections. The world saying no, go back to—
Tumblr media
The Screams. Ed Sullivan. Nat Weiss. Boys. The Philippines. Sgt. Pepper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brian's loneliness and greed for success are not shown as a character weakness, but a reaction to not being allowed to love openly, due to the barbaric reality of "The Wilde Laws." There is always something missing, never a place to rest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The book plays with metaphors and symbolism. It serves banter and stings, it seduces and cuts. And in the end...
Tumblr media
The 10th Anniversary Edition has lots of additional material, such as an annotated playlist, early sketches, and various writings.
"... brian already had at least two social marks against him—he was Jewish and he was gay.
christ, you know it ain't easy, dusty springfield was catholic and gay but she was able to sing her way through it.
brian had to stand in the wings and watch his lads twist and shout
but those wings became the wings of the world" (andrew loog oldham) [all illustrations from THE FIFTH BEATLE: The Brian Epstein Story (10th Anniversary Edition, 2023), by Vivek Tiwary, Andrew C. Robinson & Kyle Baker. More materials on the book's website]

LOSER'S BRACKET NOMINATIONS!
It is time to announce the LOSER'S BRACKET!
The Loser's Bracket is meant to give some love to characters who lost early, so anyone who has made it to the Quarterfinals and farther (even if they lose there) has gotten far enough they don't really need the love of the Loser's Bracket. During our last tournament Red Riding Poll, the Loser's Bracket winner was a character who hadn't even made it out of Round 1! This is for all the characters who might have been less recognizable but still awesome, to all the characters that got overshadowed by others.
The rules for nominations:
The Loser's Bracket will be either a 16 or 32 single elimination bracket, depending on the amount of nominations that are sent in.
Unlike the main tournament, where the polls each lasted a week, the polls for the Loser's Bracket will last only a day. That means the entire Loser's Bracket will probably last around a week.
Nominate as many characters as you want, but don't nominate the same character multiple times. Be mindful that the most nominated characters will be the ones that will make it to the bracket. Also nominate characters one at a time.
Propaganda from the Main Tournament will not appear, but feel free to submit any propaganda you want for why the character should win the Loser's Bracket!
Nominations open today and will close on the 15th of January, the same day the Quarterfinals of the main tournament loses.
Be respectful! Just because your fave didn't make it as far as you wanted in the main tournament or the Loser's Bracket, doesn't mean that the other contestants aren't worthwhile either! Remember, every character in this tournament have people who love them just as much as you love your fave, so please be courteous!
NOMINATE CHARACTERS HERE
Under the cut is a list of every character who has lost & which round they lost in. Feel free to consult the list if you want to jog your memory on which Cinderellas you might want to nominate.

do you have any recommendations of books about brian or beatles bios that talk about brian more in depth? sorry if this is not a good place to ask!
Hi anon!
The classic first stop would be In My Life: The Brian Epstein Story, by Debbie Geller, which is a biography mostly built up with quotes from loved ones and associates of Brian.
The Man Who Made The Beatles by Ray Coleman. Another biography, more gossipy, and obviously coming from someone somewhat close to The Beatles' circle.
A Cellarful of Noise by Brian Epstein (Derek Taylor) Honestly, it's just amusing to me more than anything. This man had no business releasing his autobiography right in the middle of beatlemania. It's a short read (obviously!). It's a little time capsule, at the very least, and there's some sweet moments/moments of insight.
The Fifth Beatle: The Brian Epstein Story by by Vivek J. Tiwary (Author), Andrew C. Robinson (Illustrator) and Kyle Baker (Illustrator) - Graphic novel about Brian's life. Very dear to me. Vivek did a lot of research and interviews and poured a lot of heart into this work.
Standing In the Wings: The Beatles, Brian Epstein and Me by Joe Flannery - Another book very dear to me. Paints a really vivid picture of life for men like Joe and Brian in that era in Liverpool. Very underrated book.
Other books where Brian is significant:
As Time Goes By by Derek Taylor - A lush read.
Tune In by Mark Lewisohn - Obviously.
The Beatles - Hunter Davies - The later editions include Hunter's reflections on Brian, and the certain truths he had to leave out at the time and why.
What's It All About? by Cilla Black - Cilla was very dear to Brian, and vice versa.
I've probably forgotten a few, but that's a decent start, hope it helps!

some highlights from the convention this weekend:
forgetting to check nametags and ending up playing pinball against Andrew C. Robinson
... having a rematch the next day.
... and the next.
him asking about my SFX makeup - a conversation which ended in him following me on Instagram
and encouraging Cary Nord to follow me as well
1.29% of all my Instagram followers are now made up of Marvel comic artists (I do not have a lot of followers)
Andrew giving me a bunch of extra prints and a couple art books at the end of the con
and offering to network me with some of his propmaking and wardrobe friends in LA since I'm working on getting into the special effects industry
dare I say we're friends now?
setting a new high score on the Venom pinball machine
getting to chat with my theatre friend who was an invited panelist (he's a cosplayer)
competing in my first cosplay contest! I lost, but I got to show off my mechanical hand prop
meeting Tait Fletcher
watching my sister beat Tait Fletcher's high score on Ms. Pac-Man
...then watching him utterly crush her score in one attempt
receiving a very wonderful film-tech pep talk from Chris Bartlett, urging me to keep making props and just dive in since that's how he ended up on Star Wars
he also complimented my Donald Pierce hand :)
meeting Tony Daniels and geeking out about X-Men
didn't have the budget to drop 40 bucks on an autograph but it was really awesome to talk to him
getting signed prints from Tim Townsend, Andrew Robinson, and Todd Nauck
Tim Townsend's print is the OG 5 X-Men so it's got my boy Angel of course :D
getting to play a super neat indie platformer demo (i'm gonna buy the full game for sure)
freaking out a bunch of comic artists with my Corinthian makeup
....including Chris Bachalo
HE asked for a picture with ME because he was so impressed with the makeup! :)
chatting with more comic artists, showing off my tattoo, chatting about the process of sketching and inking
picking up some neat Venom and X-Men earrings
winning a cool articulated snake from this 3D printing claw machine
getting to chat with some really cool craftsmen and collectors at the vending booths
overall just having a really wonderful time!

numbers for you! for the fic writer asks c: 4, 11, 27?
Ah! How did I miss this?? 4. Oh man, I have so many. First that comes to mind is a post Series Garashir fic that takes place on Cardassia and includes Andrew Robinson's A Stich In Time as canon.
11. A Sprik fic that already has about 16K words and will probably be really long. Its working title is "Meld Gone Wrong" and is about AOS Jim losing himself in the memories shown to him by Spock Prime/which memories are actually his.
27. Rewriting my first draft into something decent! My first draft is more like an outline than a story. There's a lot of "he felt angry", "there was a fight and-" etc.

So this has been something that's been asked for a few times, so after a long times work, here we have it! A hypothetical voice cast for the characters of Autobot Academy. If there's a character you don't see, it's as we don't want to rush figuring out a character. We may update this list in the future, however it'll be in our own time, so we won't be taking any questions about specific missing characters. And hey, if you have your own voices that don't match up with these, then feel free to stick with that!
