Hey so can I request a something. So I wanna see your interpretation of what would happen if Rika got adopted by Yoosung's family.

I myself had made some headcannons like yoosung's mom gets Rika's parents and the p*do priest arrested. Around the time she adopted Rika (who is older than her own daughter by two years) she was pregnant with yoosung.

And while she was a good mother to Rika life wasnt the smoothest cuz I could see yoosung's sister being jealous of Rika and Yoosung cuz Rika herself had severe traumas and yoosung was literally a baby and since her other siblings had more needs she was getting ignored which led her to lash out at Rika (like she cut Rika's hair short one time out of jealousy) and eventually at baby yoosung. But eventually their conflict get resolved

So these are the few headcannons I have what do you think??

okay first, i firmly believe that rika would’ve founded the rfa no matter what. she definitely still struggles with her mental health, but it isn’t as severe as it is when she isn’t adopted.

i can definitely see her absolutely adoring yoosung the moment he’s born. i feel like she’d be one of those kinds of little girls that carry around a baby everywhere and a stroller, so she’d love to do the same with yoosung

yoosung’s sister not liking her would hit rika very hard. she tries so hard to be as perfect as she can be because she is terrified of losing her family

of course, the sister doesn’t realize this and all she sees is rika, with her perfect grades and perfect attendance and her perfect behavior. and so, when the parents pay more attention to rika than their own daughter, it does cause her to lash out quite a bit

i don’t know if she’d go as far as cutting her hair, but she’d certainly pick fights and even go as far as destroying something rika likes. like, maybe cutting up her barbies or ripping out the pages from her favorite book

it takes a lot of counseling and a few rocky patches until rika and the sister begin to make amends

rika and the sister would have a very strong relationship, i feel. they would ABSOLUTELY have one of those talks that go ‘so why did you hate me so much?’ ‘because you were perfect!’ ‘perfect? i was petrified every single day of doing something wrong.’ with lots of tears

would have a VERY close relationship with yoosung. she’d be both his bestie and another sister to him

rika would grow up to be a genuinely warm person without a devil inside of her. i think she would still date v, but it wouldn’t happen as fast as it normally does. like, they start dating nearly as soon as they meet because they’re both desperate for more- v for his artistic stuff, and rika as a last-ditch attempt at controlling her devil

but they would still fall into a very deep and genuine love with each other.

it’s also interesting to note that this would drastically change the character routes

if everything else stays the same, and v still takes saeran and still has saeyoung become a hacker, then saeran would be a completely different person

saeyoung and saeran wouldn’t be able to reunite for a while still, but saeyoung gets a lot more photographs of saeran

saeran would act a lot more like ray- minus the. threatening to hurt himself and all that on v’s route

yoosung would also be the complete opposite of how he is right now. he probably would not have touched lolol, would be very intent on staying on course to becoming a vet

v would not be the self-loathing and anxiety ridden person that he was when you met him. his relationship with yoosung would be a lot better, too. they’d regard each other as brothers, and yoosung wouldn’t be as untrusting of v as he is

i’d like to think mc would still join the rfa, too. maybe rika would convince mc to be a party planner once she and v got married and started thinking about creating a family.

all in all, rika would be a much better person if she got to grow up with yoosung. there wouldn’t be any mint eye, any tragic secrets, any of the shadiness on v’s part.

About your post regarding ocs, you are so right. And to that anon or anyone who reads this, your advice was so top tier and should be followed 100%

I mean that's the beauty of writing, is it not? It doesn't matter how crazy something seems if it brings you joy at the end of the day. Besides, some of the best characters or oc x canon fics I've ever read are ones that are so self indulgent. A lot of people love the same ideas, so to read it in someone else's work is always fun and exciting!

My cmc for example, she's for Saeran too. She's literally a run away princess, and yes it still follows the Canon ish plot of the game. Why? Because why not! It's fun! All of my cmcs are pretty out there tbh...And sure I may post my work, but it doesn't matter If anyone reads it or even if they have critiques on it.

That's honestly what I love about your page, you post a lot of stuff that others probably wouldn't just because you like to write for enjoyment. Your passion truly shows, and you have a great talent for writing. I also love how devoted you are to Saeran, it's nice to see other people who never lost that love for these characters. I grew up with them, I don't think I'll ever stop loving them. My cmc and Saeran story will literally always move forward, and I love seeing yours and reading them.

I do think the best lesson anybody can learn is that when you're creating something, you should be creating it because it's something that's fun and you enjoy doing it. If you're creating things because you want to make others happy and not yourself, that's not going to end well.

It's a good thing to want to make other people smile, but it's more important to make sure that you are taking care of your needs, too. You have to remember it's important to love yourself just as much as it is to love the people around you.

Sometimes, the best characters I've seen somebody create come from a place that people might consider “cringe or embarrassing.” Well, there is no such thing as cringe and people should be having some fun. I don't care how preposterous or ridiculous an idea is for your character, if you like it and you want to have fun with it, go for it! The only thing that matters, in the end, is that you are making things that make you happy.

If you want to know the best way to learn how to enjoy the things you create, art, writing, or whatever you do, then you need to let go of trying to please other people with the things that you create. You need to think with yourself in mind first and foremost. If you are doing that, then the people who are genuinely interested in that will come around eventually.

Sure, it might take some time, I know it's genuinely taken me a long time to get to the point that I'm at! But, because I've spent so much time focusing on writing things that make me happy, I feel a lot better than I did a long time ago when I was only trying to please everybody else. When you are happy with what you are creating, people can see it. People can see your enjoyment in your words and your creations.

I don't know how to describe it because it's just a feeling you get when you see somebody who's putting everything into something.

Creating things that make you happy shouldn't be done because you want to be popular or receive attention, not that there's anything wrong with wanting that because everybody wants and deserves validation in some form! But, if you are making something because you wanted to boom in popularity and you're not deeply invested in that very creation, you're only going to burn yourself out and just feel miserable in the process.

That's why I'm so happy to write stories that make me happy. That means I’ll spend a few weeks working with my CMC! I’ll write her a story where she and Saeran can be happy and unlearn their trauma and it makes me giddy to see their world in print. Or! When I’m really feeling self-indulgent, I’ll go even further and write a self-insert story about myself and Ray.

Bonus points to me for when I write something I know that nobody but me and maybe three other people are going to read, but I'm writing it because I want to see what happens! It's good to want feedback and commentary, but it's just as important that you're having fun in the process of creating.

All of my ramblings aside, I hope that if anybody can take anything away from my rambling, it's that they need to enjoy what they're creating and have fun with it.

saeran after end after thought

it took me a ducking month and some change because i had to farm hourglasses. when i started playing i kept getting the bad ends and i got so frustrated i didn’t touch the app for two weeks. i had to consult a guide to finally reach the end.

i wanted to play this because i needed to see where jihyun ended up and... well... we all know what happened there. anyway...

i have many thoughts and feelings about this ae. i don’t know if i can ever properly organise them, but i’ll put it in bullet points for now. this is my personal feelings, not any kind of fact. i have nothing against nearly anything and anyone (character or real) involved in this game. i’ll always love and appreciate them for being in this game, for creating this game, for giving us something to love for the past four or five years.

these thoughts are rather unfiltered. this is me coming out hours after finishing the ae. i might change my mind after letting it marinate for a while and after reading up some more about it.

it’s all under the cut. it’s long and rambling. there’s no need to read this, really; the ae is a month old after all, but i just needed to get this out. also, it’s salty as hell. literally saltier than the dead sea. it will dehydrate you... best to not bother with this.

also spoilers.

1. during the first playthrough the game mechanics were wonderful, novel, and immersive. but years later and for the sake of an ae? unnecessary. it’s too long. it’s too much work. i did my due when i played the game during ray’s route. why do i also have to work for something that should have been my reward? why do i still have to worry about hearts, choices, and game branches? why do i have to go through multiple endings? it’s an after end. it’s after the ending.

of course i love new content, i love more content, but not like this. and i know i sound super entitled. if i was impatient i should have justt read the wiki, but i wanted the experience, but not this specific experience. lucky it’s the pandemic and i have more time on my hands, but in normal circumstances my life is very different from what it was in 2016. i can’t be waiting for chats and making plans around it to get to the after ending. honestly i expected something like the secret ends or even similar to the style of jihyun’s ae... but no. apparently, chertiz thinks it’s fun to make us spend three and a half days to reach an AFTER END.

2. saeran choi needs love... but, in my opinion, not ours. not mc’s. the love he needs is his brother’s. the person he needs most is saeyoung choi. he’s suffered so much, endured many things no person should ever endure. of course he deserves romantic love, but i feel like he needed to recover first. that’s why after all this im firmly in the very bare, maybe even empty camp of preferring secret end saeran choi over ray route saeran choi.

3. never in my life has a game made me exhausted about the act of forgiveness. i feel a little sick. it’s terrible to say that, i know, but i am just so emotionally exhausted. there is this heavy feeling in my chest that makes me want to cry because i feel like i somehow destroyed a part of myself?

first it’s the saviour in jihyun’s ae. it’s still her in this ae. but in addition to that there’s also the prime minister? when does it stop? at this point we might as well forgive the twins’ mother too. she imprisoned her own sons to benefit from their father; beat the shit out of and starved saeran to the point that he wanted to die, but there must be a reason behind it, right? like all the villains in this game her choices are not her own; they are the product of their circumstances and we have to understand that.

i just... i understand what cheritz is trying to convey here. and granted saeyoung is not as forgiving, but this isn’t his story. it felt like the forgiveness was nearing some extreme by the end of it. i don’t think there’s anything wrong if you’e unable to forgive. if the only way for you to move forward is to not do so i feel that’s valid. as long as you’re not hurting anyone and that you’re not hurting yourself, you do whatever you need to recover. forgiving is not the only way, the noble way. not everyone’s backstory you have to understand and take into consideration in order to move on. even if they realise what they did was wrong, it’s okay not to forgive. sometimes that’s what we need to take care of ourselves.

im rambling on this point, but im going through this currently. it’s not as extreme as the choi twins or the rfa, but all my life i’ve been forgiving and understanding and it chipped away at me. even at my expense i forgave everything and it landed me in a place im struggling to get out of. i needed justice and this ae didn’t give me a bit of that... at least not in the way i needed.

4. cheritz said this is the grand finale, but... it didn’t feel like it? again this is me being entitled, but i expected something more. something bigger. something poignant because after this mystic messenger is over. i expected some kind of epilogues in the form of story modes. of course i appreciate everything the company has done, especially the efforts of the writers, artists, voice actors, and everyone, but... it’s so rushed? it such a short farewell that instead of getting catharsis and satisfaction i felt... drained. and i feel sad that it’s all over because im not ready to say goodbye and that goodbye is far too short for me.

i don’t know im just sad it’s all over.

also, the conclusion they come to is the dissolution of the rfa once everyone found their happy ending. i... this is a group that has been through some shit and that doesn’t make them closer somehow? the rfa app lies neglected and abandoned as everyone moves on with their lives? that is so... lonely? at least for me.

i mean, of course, not all endings have to be necessarily happy in the “everyone gets together once a week for dinners” kind, but i just... i dont know i expected them to be closer somehow. maybe they are. maybe outside the app they’re all closer, but... i don’t know. i feel sad they’re abandoning the app.

5. and then there’s kim jihyun.

and im... i dont know anymore. if you know me, follow me, or have read any of my fics you know im a jihyun fan. i love that man and YES i know his sins. we all do.

as i played the ae i started to hope that he’d die in the end instead of suffering through this egregious character assassination. yes, i literally preferred that he died and that i go through that pain instead of suffering whatever this is. obviously i dont want him to die, but this is like killing him anyway. they killed the essence of him, who he is as a person. hell, they probably killed him already and just installed a stranger in the ae because that v is not our v. all throughout the game he’s been kind and compassionate and selfless. his whole thing is about protecting the rfa, the mc, saving the saviour, and sacrificing himself for them. this is the idiot who gives you his hearts when you’re being actively nice to his abuser and saeran in his route. his ultimate happy ending involves everyone being happy, reunited, and given the proper mental care. he went away for two years, putting a much needed pause in your budding relationship, not only to recover from his trauma, but also to rescue saeran and help him recover too.

yes, v enabled the saviour even before another story. he lied. he put everyone in danger. he’s reckless and he keeps secrets way more than what’s natural. but he will never let any of them come to harm. my memory is fuzzy but im sure he never lets the rfa get in danger. he was devastated when yoosung got injured. he also tried to rescue seven and mc in the secret ends thats why he got shot. this guy always looks out for everyone. 

in what world is he okay with drugging the twins? making deals with the villains? the idea of trapping the twins in the saviour’s delusional, twisted family life? he’s not the type to be okay just standing there when his best friend’s life is falling apart or for even causing it. when zen, jaehee, and yoosung get backed into the corner he wouldn’t have been just idle. but in this ae all he does is play stacking chairs, buy strawberry yoghurt, and echo the saviour’s words like a puppet. he asks only mc to save herself and like... jesus christ he never gets a break. he doesn’t even get the same gesture of forgiveness everyone and their father gets. he goes through a trial and jail, which is fair enough, but he’s also a victim of abuse and suffering and despair and mental illness. but somehow because it’s v it’s okay that this is all he gets. somehow he doesn’t deserve any compassionate resolution.

literally the only time he’s happy is his route and after end and even then that happiness is not his own. even then there were concessions to be made before he could get it.

seriously. it seems like cheritz hates him. they think little to nothing of him. if that’s the case why even make content for him? he’s not even meant to be romanceable in the original stories. they could’ve just ignored the petitions and left him as a side character. i mean, i dont know if i prefer that honestly, i do appreciate the content we got, but as his fan it hurts to see all this half-hearted decisions. and to see all this hate still pouring out for him, now magnified because of this ae.

this is like a tiring odyssey, starting way back when he got shot and killed all because he loved someone. he loved the wrong person and it’s the wrong kind of love and he committed his crimes because of it. he had a hand in making the rfa and mc suffer, but still all he did was love. and i know that sounds blind and naive and ignorant and im sorry for not picking up the nuances of his relationship with the saviour, but that’s all i saw. i saw a guy loving the wrong person and it made him make all the wrong choices leading to a bad life.

gah. i am drained people. i am drained, and frustrated, and tired.

Okay, so I finally got through Saeran's good ending, I might go back and play the normal and other bad endings later if I feel like it, but as that was an emotional rollercoaster, I need some time to recover. But I'm going to put my full review under the cut.

Will I be releasing my rewrite outline at this point (though not really a rewrite, since I made it before the AE was ever released when I was drunk and salty at the lack of news)? I'm not sure. I wasn't 100% satisfied, but we'll call it a good 65% as I feel like there was more I liked than I hated. I'll leave that decision up to my dear readers, whether or not they want to see it. (Though there are only like... 8 of you here and I know you're probably here for Obey Me content and not MysMess)

I do plan on playing the Jumin Bad End DLC, but I may not liveblog it as I haven't really heard good things. This seems like another ploy for fanservice, but I do want to get more lore about Jumin's backstory, and honestly... I'm gay and want to see those sexy CGs. That being said... this is the last I will discuss the canon material on this blog, and it may be the last time I engage with the canon material (as I believe cheritz has announced that this is the finale anyway, and will no longer update the game). I will most likely continue to create fan content for it, as Sugar and I have our own sort of... fanfic thing going on with the characters and our OCs. But this is a personal and huge special interest of mine, and rather than go through everything and pick it apart for the rest of my days... I want to leave the game and the characters I love so much with only my happiest memories. They'll live on in my heart.

But I digress... here is my semi-condensed review. Sugar may talk about it as well, though I do not speak for them. THIS SHOULDN'T NEED TO BE SAID BUT HERE THERE BE SPOILERS. DO NOT READ IF YOU DID NOT COMPLETE THE GOOD END OF RAY'S AE.

The Good:

Saeran. Saeran was the best thing about this route. His character development was beautiful, and every time I saw him, I felt my heart swell with pride and love. His new sprites are so adorable as well as his beautiful CGs, and he looks healthier and happier in a lot of them. He's grown to be such a loving, gorgeous, wonderful man despite everything that happened in his painful life, and his story is nothing short of inspirational. I have a lot of love for Saeran, I have from the moment I saw him but this route really drove it home for me. He will have a special place in my heart among my fictional loves that can never be replaced.

Jumin Jumin Jumin! Jumin was one of the absolute MVPs this route, he was doing the most and boy... I just want to hug him. Even though he was in horrendous pain he was doing the absolute best he could to help everyone. He's been a love of mine for a long time, and that love only grew in this route. I was also glad to meet Driver Kim and see the interaction between him and Daddy Han Sr. (Because obviously Juju is the junior Daddy Han lol)-- even though I have mixed feelings about the Chairman, it makes me happy to see Jumin getting the caring he deserves from his father. And the fact that he even turned his back to let Jumin express his emotions without feeling embarrassed... Fucking killed me.

They did Rika right this go around. Yes, she got off to a really rough start, but she was very human and bearable here... and complete with her realizing her wrongdoings and working to right them in the end. It was a gorgeous arc, I'm so happy for her. I have a love hate relationship with her character, as she used to be a very badly written villain IMO... but one of the good things about Another Story in general is that it gave her depth that she didn't have before. And if they wanted to redeem her, they 100% did it right here, even if she had a rough beginning and had to make mistakes to get to where she was. I thought it was very human. Good on you, cheritz.

Vanderwood got a lot of good interactions here, and I'm really happy they gave us more Van content. Even if we're not getting a route for him, it's enough to me to finally see him expressing the affection we all know that he holds for Saeyoung, and working to help him.

The twins finally get to be happy! Need I say more?

Everyone doing well in their lives made me really happy too... most of the other routes had this problem where if one person got to be happy, someone else would have to suffer in exchange. I'm so glad that everyone got a happy ending.

The new chats made me extra emotional... I'm not sure why, to be honest, I think I'm just happy to see everyone again. It had been such a long time since I played Mystic Messenger, and talking to everyone again just like old times felt like returning to a childhood home (though I was 19 when I discovered this game initially, haha). I cried a lot, which is extra weird for me since I don't tend to cry in general.

Yoosung loves Saeran soooo much... in fact, everyone does. It made me happy, bc I was initially worried that he wouldn't have made friends with the RFA or that it would be awkward, but seeing everyone loving him and him being sweet back to them was adorable. Jumin also loves him and you can't change my mind (though maybe that's my wishful thinking of being in a Jumin & Saeran sandwich talking...)

So many good messages in this AE, and they hit very personally. I came to the same realization last year, that in the end, nothing in life matters except love, since you can't take anything else with you when you die. I shan't elaborate more!

Everyone's voice acting was so good! It was so beautiful and emotional, I could feel it through their voices. I usually skip the voice lines since I read so fast, but I'm happy I didn't.

The Bad:

Oh Jihyun... what have they done to you? I know I said he wasn't OOC and I stand by that, but it really feels like the writers hated him this AE. Even his sprite looked so awful and blurry. And he didn't get any good realization that he deserved better or anything, the literal cult leader and prime fucking minister got to be redeemed when he didn't. What the actual fuck. Sugar will definitely have more to say about it, and probably in a more articulate way, but let it be known that I don't like it either.

Furthermore, even if it's not OOC, it's structurally sloppy for him to come to some realization only to stay the exact same as he's always been. And same with Rika too. As I said in a previous post, having them both go through these realizations only to make them the villains again really felt like beating a dead horse. What can I say except AAAAAAAAA. WHAT THE FUCK?

Again, I must reiterate... why'd they make it so you have to be a bitch to Rika to get the good ending? I get that it's probably wish fulfillment for some people in the fandom, but it isn't for me. I really don't have any desire to berate or insult her bc in the end she needs serious help (even if I wanted to throw hands with her sometimes), and if the point was to call her on her misbehavior... some of it went too far (looking @ the "Don't stab Saeran's eyes out!" choice. I didn't like that at all, especially since it felt like you were making fun of Jihyun's trauma.) It especially made the end of her arc fall flat when she's like "Thank you for being kind and trying to understand me..." like, gurl... the game didn't let me do that without making me bad end! Jeez.

Also, literally why was it necessary to redeem the prime minister? He's a monster who tried to murder his own children. It's okay if they needed that scene where Saeran and you tried to understand him, but having him actually come around made no sense... why would he want to listen to you or Saeran when we've seen time and time again that there isn't really any good in him? He's just not a good person. And no, I'm not saying this because I wanted him to die or anything! ...Okay, maybe I did. Fuck that guy. I hate him. (Also the whole "you're only this way because you're lonely!" was so corny, I didn't choose those options but gjkgkgkfk)

The Ugly:

Have y'all heard about how much I hate the agency Boss? I hate him so much... I want to drown him in the toilet. I want to feed him taco bell laced with laxatives. I want to-- anyway, I digress. Not classifying this under bad because cheritz did their job by making him hateable and oh boy, did I hate him. He made me want to barf. I also commend his voice actor for somehow making me feel greasy through the screen. Seriously, dude, hats off to you. You are a genius.

That's about all I have to say for now... you can peruse my talk tag if you want to see any of my other thoughts on this game, but they don't tie into the good and bad. Despite the flaws, I enjoyed myself this route and I'm happy I played it. Even though there will always be things to improve upon in this game... I'm happy I picked it up, and I'm happy I met everyone. I would write them all letters or something but that'd be kinda corny since they're just game characters and won't see it anyway, and I know I'm not the only nor am I the most attractive MC out there... so this is Spice, signing out! All of the... weird horniness between Rika and Saeran made me feel grossed out. Her having him in a collar with a leash, and the game options that insinuate she has a thing for him... ew ew ew. Please stop it. That shit is so disgusting and I'm going to puke.

I have always thought it was strange that V and Rika have known the Choi boys since their childhood…The boys being 21 in the game and V being 26. 

The only logical age difference would be that the boys were 12 when they were rescued and V would have been 17 years old. (That is being generous since they look about 6 in the photo, but you never know with anime styled artwork). 

Considering that Rika and V only broke up shortly before MC joined the RFA, you have to calculate how long the couple had to have been together…9 years. Rika and V have been together for nearly a decade. 

V bought Rikas apartment, which would be logically assumed to be directly after she moved out from her adoptive parent’s house.

As soon as V was starting to flourish with his photography and as Rika was just experiencing adolescence and looking for more than the misery she felt with her adoptive parents. Granted, V was the only form of love she knew. They were very young…it makes sense as to why they had an idealized idea of love. Rika wanted to be loved unconditionally…and V wanted to love unconditionally, like his mother described before she died.

Obviously, when they learned about the two abused children from church, they would step in to help. Rika was always wanting to help others and V had a good heart. 

Here is what we learned in the Secret Endings, as well as in Saeyoung’s flashbacks. 

Saeyoung was offered a job in the agency, by V. To be safe from their politician father, the two had to be split up. After Saeyoung was rescued, Saeran was still at the home. He was being tortured and questioned by his mother…truly believing that his brother abandoned him. 

V and Rika wanted to save Saeran too, but it went downhill. The mother refused to give him up and Rika (canon) ends up accidentally killing the twins’ mother in self defense. That is the kind of secret you take to your grave.

Here we are…the GAP.

  There is a Wikia saying that Rika kidnaps Saeran into Mint Eye….but Mint Eye doesn’t form until a couple of years before MC appears. This conclusion is drawn from Another Story…which isnt linked to the Canon route.

What really happens in between? When V and Rika are still together? 

Like I said, no one explains the gap and the journals in Another Story are not canon. The journals in Another Story only account for if Mint Eye were formed when Saeran was a very young child….which it wasn’t.

So there we have it. The only logical place Saeran could have been is with V and Rika, growing up. This is where the mistakes take root. 

Rika and V were kids raising kids…They grew up way too fast and never had the chance to discover themselves or learn to love properly.

To protect Saeran, he would need to be secluded from the outside world. If anyone found out about him, there would be a lot of questions rasied. 

V, still having contact with Saeyoung, could not allow the two to have contact with one another. V and Rika moved out into a secluded area by a cliff, which V said Rika suggested for his artistic flair, but honestly, its very convienient for raising a hidden child. 

In every route, Searan is extremely familiar with Rika’s apartment. Rika and V also lived together for an unspecified amount of time once the cliff house was purchased and the two were engaged. 

Years pass and the RFA is formed. The RFA includes Saeyoung…which is an excellent way to spend time with the boy and make sure he is okay. Again, he cannot contact Saeran, so Saeran would not be able to be invited. 

However, Saeran always knew about the activities of the RFA and that his brother was out in the world being “Cheerful” and “happy without him.”

He would have seen his makeshift mom and dad, Rika and V, having fun, chatting and holding parties with the brother he would never be able to speak to again. On top of feeling abandoned, this would create a lot of resentment…

When Rika finally decides to create Mint Eye, we all know that her and V break up. She thinks V abandoned her, even though she left him. She thinks he doesnt want to help save others. She thinks he is a hypocrite and a liar. 

Saeran would have seen all of this. He also would have seen V walk away from them and continue to spend time with/chat with the RFA members…including his brother. V didn’t even TRY to get Saeran from Rika. (Which I understand….how could he, without Saeyoung finding out? V isnt a bad person…he just didnt have any other choice.)

In Saerans eyes, it would be very easy to believe that V was a hypocrite who abandoned him…just like his brother did. Rika of course, has a hand in turning him against V, but a lot of it would have happened on it’s own. Rika was basically his MOM since his sorry excuse for a birth mom died…and Rika never left him like everyone else.

His seclusion explains why he is so socially OFF….(not including Ray, because he isnt canon). This explains why he is so utterly devoted to Rika, even without the presence of the elixer. (ignoring the childhood forced elixer because that isnt canon or possible in Seven’s route.) This explains why V couldn’t do anything to save Saeran before it was too late.

V also knew that Rika targeted the RFA members as her primary prey for the Mint Eye. V felt like he had to protect them, as they were never supposed to be dragged into this in the first place. He also felt the duty to preserve Rika’s honor…so the easiest way out was to claim that she died and cut her off entirely. Essentially…from Searans eyes…this would be abandonment. V and Rika saved his life. V was his father figure.

What’s weird is that Cheritz doesn’t really incorporate exactly how long that relationship really had to be and that Rika and V were basically parents.

If V and Rika were together from the twins’ being saved up until Mint Eye was formed (shortly before MC appears), then the story of Rika kidnapping Searan as a child is impossible. That is another reason why Cheritz could not make it canon. It would never fit with the canon route of 707 and the secret endings. 

Now, if we want to go ahead and believe in this theory as a possibility…then it would explain other things as well. I am hoping that Rika’s route will come out and explain (canonly) some of the gap…even if it isnt released as canon, it could shed light on some possibilities. 

Understanding all of the above, it explains why Rika absolutely LOSES it when V claims their love wasn’t real. Imagine being told that your engagement and 10 year relationship was a lie…after finally leaving foster care and believing that someone finally loves you, unconditionally. After the trauma bonding they ALREADY went through in the past. 

It also explains why V has such an extremely hard time coming clean. With this timeline, V has been lying for YEARS. Nearly a decade. He even lied to his very best friend, Jumin. 

All of this is especially sad for Jumin, because V is his lifeline. He has no one else. Even as adult friends, they mainly live on memories to get by this phase of dishonesty and absense of V. 

Imagine how difficult it would be to admit you were lying and did all of those questionable things? 

He would have to admit the existance of Saeran…a child the couple kept secluded from the world. Saeyoung’s true identity…which would put everyone in danger… a child he shipped off to a deadly agency. The twins’ mom…which is a literal murder comitted by the Holy Rika. 

It is just too much. It’s too dangerous to come clean. It’s just too much to explain.

The RFA were a group of friends. There was no reason for them to get involved or be put at risk. V puts so much effort into protecting the RFA…On top of that, his personal life is entirely irrelevant to holding charity parties.

Here we can see why V blames himself. He is always saying he does it to protect everyone. He blames himself for everything. Even without Mint Eye, if Rika remained sane, these problems would still exist. This is why he views everything as his mess to clean…even without his idea that his ideal view of love ruined Rika. Now Rika wanted the RFA members to herself in her new cult. It was a mess. Because of this, he is willing to sacrifice himself if it means everything can be fixed. He doesnt care about himself, he cares about protecting everyone else from “his” mistakes. (as he sees it)

We see them repeatedly rejecting getting help from the cops. This may seem stupid, considering that we shouldn’t be encouraging our players to avoid the authorities. Yet, considering the situation, it makes sense. 

The murder…the agency…the hidden child…

Even without the cult, everyone would be in danger and in BIG trouble if this was taken to the police. If V were to use the police against Rika and her cult, not only would she not have a chance to be “saved”, but the past would be easily dug up as well. That would be one huge, reputation-ruining, legal fiasco. 

The drama would destroy the livelihoods of everyone he cared about. V, a famous photographer…Rika, a well-known coordinator…Jumin, heir to an extremely powerful and known company called C&R…Zen, a rising actor…Saeyoung would be killed by the agency…Only Jaehee and Yoosung would scrape by.

V and Rika made very sketchy and very bad decisions together…even if they had pure intentions at the time. Remember…they were just teenagers when this started.

The mistakes started WAY before Mint Eye was ever an idea. Way before Rika caved into her darkness.

Considering how many years go by….whether Cheritz intended this or not…it would explain SO MUCH. You could make a whole anime or drama out of the eyes of V alone. Perhaps, a lot of this will change once more routes come out.

All I know is that the Choi boys were screwed no matter what and took some serious trauma out of this. 

And this, my dudes, is why I REALLY want a Rika route to be released. I want the light shed on what could have happened between saving the boys and forming Mint Eye.

given my knowledge of DID & what many resources have said , it usually happens during one’s childhood as a result of trauma  ——  a way for a child to shelter themselves from trauma by dissociating which is why it’s called dissociative identity disorder . as Nin from DissociaDID puts it from Anthony Padilla’s video , a child’s normal development usually occurs around seven to nine years of age but trauma & abuse can cause a child to start dissociating & not developing one cohesive personality due to wanting to forget that trauma they are experiencing during that age . in saeran’s story , the abuse from his mother has caused him to start dissociating in this instance . there are three distinct alters that i’ve noticed from his story . they are ray , saeran / unknown ( alter ) , and saeran ( child alter ) . BUT i would say that there are other alters in saeran’s system due to the complexity of DID & how saeran’s upbringing could cause other alters to surface but those are the main three . i will discuss those first before i delve more into headcanon based alters & other things about saeran in my perspective . i would not call ‘unknown’ ( i use this name later in the post as the namesake for this alter for easier differentiation between child alter saeran & the main saeran seen in the story ) an alter even though i’ve considered it before due to reasons when formulating thoughts but in all seriousness , unknown is more of the the product of mint eyes’s influence & brainwashing of saeran ( alter ) . i do not think that saeran ( alter ) is a bad person because i see him as the persecutor or the ‘misguided protector’ as Jamie from MultiplicityAndMe would state it . he is a combination of an ANP ( apparently normal part ) and an EP ( emotional part ) before the induction into mint eye & being brainwashed by them . he is also the host of the body as well with the intentions of protecting saeran ( child alter ) who is considered a child alter who is mostly an EP that has many positive childhood memories of his mother after saeyoung’s abandonment & which is why saeran / unknown had been created to protect those memories , given that saeran ( child alter ) age - slides between 8 - 15 with varying awareness of trauma that unknown mostly holds . saeran retains the childhood innocence that is very dear & close to him because of how close he was to saeyoung & stuck by him through thick & thin ‘til saeyoung had ‘abandoned’ him  ;  saeyoung’s abandonment of saeran had ultimately caused unknown to come forward & saeran had fallen dormant for some time following .

due to the nature of saeran’s story , we only get to see the alters that are only ‘vital’ to the story but i do believe that there are more that have taken up important roles in the body that helps to keep the body under control & be able to function as a unit though not expressed through the story b/c it would be messy to tell such a story so here i am , i suppose .

these alters were created throughout saeran’s life & used to protect him & the body from danger where needed . so far , we have :

saeran  ——  a child alter that is considered ‘canon’ and created in order to keep saeran safe as he was growing up , age - sliding between 8 - 15 with mostly positive memories of his youth & has a very child - like innocence to him from varying degrees . he fronts occasionally but has many positive triggers that can bring him out such as seeing toys , watching cartoons , etc . anything that appeals to a teen or child will ultimately cause saeran to come out .

saeran / unknown  ——  another ‘canon’ alter . unknown had been the host of the body for much of saeran’s growth , aging alongside the body before ray ‘split’ from him & became host for a bit . ray was created from the trauma that was experienced through rika , usually from the drug failing to force unknown into rika’s plan . following the good ending , it had taken a lot before unknown was capable of realising that his harmful behaviour was reflective of how saeran’s mother had abused him because he was attempting to ‘protect’ the system from being attacked from outside influences . eventually , he had learned this & sought to fix himself for the betterment of the system & became the main host for the body once more . he does not handle negative emotions very well & has a harder time in huge social situations . ANP / EP .

ray  ——  another ‘canon’ alter that was split off from unknown . he holds all of the trauma that was caused by rika & mint eye . he’s a trauma holder who was at the time influenced by the drugs taken in his body . though once the drugs was flushed out of his system , he was shown through his true personality as the very shy & gentle . he has a very needy & attention desiring personality . he was co - conscious with unknown during their time under mint eye’s influence , being seen as the weaker due to how he dealt with trauma for unknown but unknown did not realize it & ray does not tell about his trauma very often , if at all .

sam  ——  the gatekeeper of the system . the one who is fully aware of the trauma , staying mostly in the inner world & making sure that the system is safe & keeping from trauma alters from coming out & bleeding into the non - trauma alters typically . usually fronts during dire situations that the main hosts / protectors cannot handle . has a very head - strong , serious , & no bullshit type personality . ageless & identifies as nonbinary , they/them .

???  ——  an unnamed alter that is an animal alter caused by how his mother treated him almost like an animal by chaining him up , failing to feed him or allow him water when he was ‘bad’ . this feeling of being treated like an animal & how dehumanizing it was caused this alter to break off from the ‘core’ personality in order to protect from these painful memories . behaves similarly to how a dog would , non - verbal , snarls , & makes similar noises to how dogs would if approached . solely an EP . ageless & takes form of a small dog .

mimi  ——  the only female alter in the system that is the secondary host of the body that is highly emotional , very relatable , motherly much like ray but even moreso . she was born from how saeran saw rika , influenced by her kindness towards him before the period of trauma . mimi was mostly internal during the beginning years after meeting rika as a way to ‘protect’ child alter saeran inside the inner world . she sees herself as a model , very feminine & is the reason why there is makeup & girl clothing . she is the hugest influence on the system in making responsible decision given her maturity being in her thirties though she doesn’t say it & like any female , doesn’t enjoy talking about her age . she is co - con with ray sometimes such as unknown is . solely an ANP . a type of protector alter .

sil  ——  a fragment of saeran / unknown that holds the pain & trauma from saeyoung’s abandonment which is the worst of them all due to how close saeran was with him .

Ray was AWARE of 'Saeran's' actions and clearly knew why 'he' was abusing the MC. Having DID doesn't split someone into two different people, they're BOTH different facets of the same person. It's a very toxic and destructive notion to blame one's abusive and inappropriate behavior solely on a mental disorder since it stigmatizes anyone else suffering from it. Unknown! Saeran and BOTH 'Ray' are single entities of the SAME person who abused MC as a coping mechanism.

It…yes it does. It’s both at the same time. The original personality splinters and creates other personalities to deal with trauma that the host cannot, and then alters consciousness or dissociates in order to utilize personalities for whatever trauma they’re facing. The entire point of the brain doing this is to shield one of them from trauma and abuse, either by someone else standing in their stead so they don’t have to experience it, or making them forget by way of dissociation, or both.

Literally how can you attempt to affirm that Ray knew what was going on when I put a screenshot of him saying he didn’t know what was going on??

I think the vernacular of all these names isn’t helping. RAY was not aware of Unknown’s mindset and actions and what he was doing and was not complicit. UNKNOWN was the one instigating the abuse and using the MC in place of himself and displacing the abuse from his mother and Rika and whoever else on to her. SAERAN, if Saeran is both Ray and Unknown coming back together again, yes, he is aware of that abuse and why because the splintered part of him has come back to be a part of him again, he is whole again. I think we agree on this? If we don’t then I don’t know what to tell you, because apparently we didn’t read the same scenes. Yes, Unknown and Ray are all part of a singular person but I disagree that that therefore means that all personalities are complicit in a crime. Do you realize the kind of precedent that would set if a host personality could be blamed for abuse that they literally didn’t commit?

Saeran had DELIBERATELY disobeyed her orders to ignore the MC at best and dispose of her at worst by going all out of his way to abuse her even AFTER his “cleansing” DESPITE him being reconditioned to also be completely OBEDIENT of what Rika had to say. Thus regardless of Rika herself, it was HIM who’d made the decision to go out of his way to MC’s room and abuse her in EVERY means possibly suited for a 15+ rating of a mobile game.

Okay. Unknown did that, yes. So? Pretty sure I didn’t contest this.

May I also add tha it was NEVER MC who’d made him “stop” after he HIMSELF had realized and admitted what he was doing was ‘wrong’, since he’d STILL forced himself into her room and violently shaken her up even AFTER he’d had his breakdown where he’d ‘realized’ that he was abusing her, but the small pep-talk he’d had with V HIMSELF (despite having been brainwashed into hating so much) that had made him see the errors of his ways which was what had ultimately forced him to stop abusing the MC.

The person that broke into her room later on and yelled at her also confronted V in the garden at gunpoint was Unknown, so you know, just to clear that up. Not Saeran, complete individual, or Ray, but Unknown. Unknown is also the one that comes back to apologize to her before he’s caught and passes out for a day.

Despite his perception being warped to such an extent that he was continuously viciously abusive to the MC for 3 days straight, all it had MERELY taken was just a simple pep-talk from someone he was actually conditioned to hate to make him realize what he was doing  was wrong, rather than simply not ABUSE the girl he’d once admitted was his “first and last love” in V’s route DESPITE his own manipulator’s order against it.

Again, you’re contributing things to people who didn’t do or say them. Unknown is the abuser for those three days, Ray is the one that called MC his “first and last love” before blowing himself up. Seriously, just because a person with DID has a host doesn’t mean that all personalities are somehow complicit in each other’s actions. And no, it took Ray coming back to jostle Saeran’s understanding of the sort of strength he believed he had. He believed he’d completely gotten rid of Ray all together, or that he soon would, so MC being able to bring Ray back like that freaked him out and pulled the rug out from under him. V being a wet noodle and not putting up a fight or being vicious when he pointed a gun at him only further served to confuse him and crack what he believed was true, and he has a downward spiral as a result of these last two things in particular.

That’s why his breakdown was so profound, because Saeran as ‘Ray’ himself had admitted that the abusive side of him was a very “real” part of him and that he was AWARE of the reasons for why HE was abusing the MC, and it was NOT due to Rika’s manipulation, but because HE needed a punching bag to feel better about himself.

No, literally, no. I don’t know how to state this any plainer man. The person breaking down on Day 8 is Unknown, one of the personalities. At that point it’s arguable that Saeran as the host or original personality doesn’t exist unless you believe it’s Ray, which I don’t. When Ray and Unknown come together to make Saeran whole again, which is what most people believed happen, it’s profound that he completely takes the horrible things he did and owns them and doesn’t expect MC to love or forgive him because of it. He could easily have blamed Unknown and shrugged off responsibility but he didn’t, and that’s just one example to show Saeran’s sort of noble character. Yes, it wasn’t due to Rika, and yes, it was because Unknown took out his anger on her in place of himself, and Saeran owning those horrible actions and promising to work on all of it is important, especially when you’ve been told all your life that you’re worthless and incapable of anything.

I think most of whatever disagreement we’re having is a miscommunication or a misunderstanding about what DID really is or comprises of. Personalities can have wonky sorts of consciousness or share memories or speak to each other inside the mind, but Ray was not able to see what Unknown was doing nor was he complicit. Just because Ray and Unknown are a part of Saeran doesn’t make them masks Saeran takes on and off or something like that, they are actually distinct personalities inside his head. Now, if you’re arguing whether Saeran is therefore responsible for what Unknown did after Ray and Unknown converge to create a whole Saeran, I don’t know if there’s a definitive answer on that one and it would be up to your personal take on what it means to be responsible for an act.

Pokemon AU: RFA+Mint Eye as Pokemon Trainers

Ok,I’m a sucker for Pokemon almost as much as I am for Mystic Messenger so I had to write this AU... I hope you like it (and sorry to the people in my askbox because this took forever to be made so is the only think I’ve worked on this week)

Warning: This is full of spoilers, like everywhere and from every route

RFA Member Yoosung wants to battle

Since he is still unsure of what to do with his life I don’t think he has a preferred type on his team despite him having quite a few normal types.

His team is mostly composed of cute and energetic pokemon (Lillipup, Buneary, Ambipom, Pachirisu) but in case of needing they can still give a good fight.

He caught a Rockruff because it was cute and with time it evolved into Lycanroc a Pokemon that is loyal and protective like Yoosung is to MC in his route.

Similar he caught Goomy because it was cute and looked like a slime (he is a gamer kid after all) and as they trained together it evolved into his most powerful and beloved Pokemon.

Pachirisu besides the reasons already given is very protective of its food and it reminded me of Yoosung and his HBC bag  

Lillipup came into his team after Rika’s Herdier died but after Rika dying not too long after he found himself unable to evolve it till he meets MC.  Towards the end of his route it becomes a Stoutland.

RFA Member Zen wants to battle

I do know beautiful is not a Pokemon type but a contest attribute, the reason I chose is because I firmly believe Zen is a contest trainer therefore he hasn’t got a main type.

His family runs a gym and he was expected to succeed his brother as gym leader but he loved acting, singing and pretty Pokemon so he ran away to become a contest trainer.

Lurantis and Vivillion are Pokemon that look pretty and elegant so I think they’d fit him well

Munna is a Pokemon that protects the dreams of its trainer with its psychic powers so I chose it because of Zen’s psychic dreams

Arcanine, besides being a beautiful Pokemon this big dog is loyal and protective; Much like Zen.

For Gallade I have no much explanation, his ace is a beautiful knight on white armor (he probably owns the mega-stone too)

When he was a kid he caught a Feebas and kept it since he felt identified because everybody said it was weak and ugly. After running away and start winning contests Feebas beauty stat raised to the point it evolved into Milotic.

RFA Member Jaehee wants to battle

(Confession time: I was very tempted to give her Meloetta because of her love for musicals but I didn’t want to use legendaries so I had to leave it out… maybe in the future I’ll write about RFA and legendary Pokemon)

I hadn’t planned her to have a defined favorite type but as the Pokemon were chosen the flying type became evidently fitting since flying is associated with freedom and her route is about her freeing herself from expectations and finding her happiness.

Throh is the Judo pokemon so it fits her pretty well

Noctowl, owls are known to be smart and this particular one along his pre-evolution is based on clocks as for most her route Jaehee is running against time also is nocturnal and this poor woman never sleeps.

Fletchinder and Altaria are both known for being beautiful and have pretty singing voice which I bet she’d appreciate in her team since she loves Zen’s musicals.

Swanna is partly inspired in the tale of the ugly duckling and it reminded me of Jaehee forcing herself to wear office oufits, short hair and glasses for her job despite her loving long hair and pretty dresses, probably when she met MC she had a ducklett and it evolved with time.

Oricorio Pom-Pom style (Caught by MC) Knowing Jaehee liked musical Pokemon and that this particular one is known for cheering up depressed trainers MC caught one and gave it to her as a gift.

RFA Member Jumin wants to battle

As you might have imagined this man has mostly cat pokemon

Also his team is not very battle orientated since he is a businessman not a fighter and thought his team can hold a pretty good fight he keeps them mostly as company.

This rational man that is also interested on paranormal stuff screams Psychic type. Thought he only has 1 ghost type I think he might be pretty knowledgeable on the type since he is interested on magic.

Meowstic is the only female on his team (is a white female cat inspired on a domestic cat…so, basically Elizabeth the 3rd)

Alolan Meowth they are the pets of wealthy families so probably Jumin got a Meowth from his father who has a Persian.

Alakazam, since they are incredibly intelligent and with amazing psychic powers I bet Jumin wants one on his team…. Similarly grumping has great psychic power too.

Espeon is cute and thought not exactly a cat is pretty close. I have headcanon that MC suggests him to get and Eevee like hers because they are good friends and could help him open up… he wasn’t trying to evolve it, it just happened.

I already said, this man is interested in magic so a witch inspired pokemon like Mismagius is a need on his team.

It wasn’t on purpose but I couldn’t help but mention most of his team is purple and even in shades similar to his hearts.

RFA member Saeyoung wants to battle

Since he is a hacker he has electric pokemon related to electronics like Rotom, Magneton and Vikavolt.

By the way he said hackers were like cockroaches so it seems fitting he has electric bug Pokemon as Joltik and Vikavolt (sadly there is no Pokemon inspired on cockroaches)

Beheeyem is an alien with the ability to rewrite people’s memories which is both very fitting with his personality at the beginning of the story and useful for a secret agent.

Vikavolt is inspired on a bug, a battery and an alien so is no wonder is his ace.

Plusle is not in his team at the beginning of the story though he caught it on his childhood. The reason is because is a symbol of the past he is hiding. As he and MC head to rescue Saeran Plusle becomes an important member of the team.

When they were kids Saeyoung and Saeran found the eggs of Plusle and Minun and decided to raise them; hiding them from their mother who didn’t allow them to have pokemon. When Saeyoung joins the agency he keeps Plusle but can have him on his team because is part of the past he supposedly erased but he always keeps it close because it reminds him of Saeran.

RFA leader Jihyun wants to battle

This man has such a free and creative soul that I don’t think he’d have a main type

I don’t really think I need to explain why Smeargle is his ace; is a painter after all.

Maractus is quite evident too, this man loves his cacti.

Chansey and Audino are both pokemon who main role is to be healers which is what Jihyun wants to do for his friends, heal their pain and keep them safe… also Chansey is related to good luck which Jihyun needs.

I’m going to hell for giving him a Cubone, I know. But Cubone wears it’s mother skull on its head till it evolves into Marowak when is replaced for its own and since one of the biggest traumas Jihyun carries with is his mother dead he’d probably feel very close to this Pokemon.

He adopted Cubone after his mother dead but it didn’t evolve till his 2 year trip after his route.

Mint Eye admin Ray wants to battle

He like plants and beautiful/cute stuff so his specialty would be Grass and Fairy

Roselia, of course flower boy’s ace would be inspired on a rose. Also it has a blue rose (unattainable) and a red rose (love)

Mimikyu hides it’s true self because it wants to be loved and make friends, just like Ray.

His savoir has a Florges so he in his admiration for her, he adopts Flabebé (one with a Blue flower) and raises it to become Floette. He dreams that one day his savoir will acknowledge his hard work and loyalty and will grant him a shiny stone so he can evolve Floette into Florges.

Mareep, it cute and cuddly so he probably would like it, also it produces electricity so it becomes helpful in his job as a hacker; especially on the firsts stages of the building of Magenta when he didn’t have permanent access to electricity (Also sheep are associated with sleeping and this boy needs a nap)

I chose Chespin mostly based on the XY series rather than the game itself. Clemont’s Chespin was really cute and loved sweets which I think suits Ray.

Cherubi, based on the chatroom in which him consideres destroying the stronger branch of his plant to let the weak survive because when Cherubi is ready to evolve the smaller cherry dries up; (Also you know he has no respect for the 4th wall, so Cheritz reference)

Mint Eye admin Saeran wants to battle

I like the idea of his specialities being somewhat the opposite of Ray’s. Dark is contrary to Fairy (which symbolizes light) and Poison (associated to death) is quite contrary to Grass (Plants are the base of life) but despite that the reason is because of how dark his personality becomes and poison for the elixir.

His team in this case is composed of pokemon known to look scary and aggressive but that tend to be very protective of themselves or their master (since he tries to prove he is the stronger by being aggressive to MC yet he keep obeying his savoir) like Houndoom, Liepard and Mightyena.

The choice of Type:Null is rather similar but I wanted to expand a little here. Type:Null was created by humans as a weapon and it resulted to be too powerful so it has to be contained by that helmet or it might lose control and go against it’s trainer…. Which is exactly what Rika does to him with the elixir… in a minor point is very aesthetically fitting.

(I was rather reluctant to choose this one since it falls in a grey area between being and not being a legendary but it fitted too well to leave it out)

Toxapex is also similar to the others but rather than taking the offensive this pokemon hides on a hard poisonous shell.

Zweilous two heads are in constant conflict and the one that gets more food gets to be in control of the body which reminds of the relationship between Ray and Saeran during this part of his route.

RFA Member Saeran wants to battle

He said it. He is both Ray and Saeran so he keeps both of his teams aces and since he reached a new stage on his life so do those pokemon.

Roselia evolves through shiny stone. MC gives one to him after escaping Mint Eye since she knew how much he wanted one. But he is now free from Rika’s influence so instead of evolving Floette (which represents he relationship with Rika) he decides to use it on the Pokemon that represents Ray, thus Roselia becomes Roserade.

Type:Null on the other hand evolves through friendship stopping it’s agresive behavior when it meets a partner it fully trust therefore no longer needing the helmet. So basically when Saeran decides to leave Mint Eye and open his heart to love and friendship Type:Null evolves into Silvally

Skiploom, I kind of cheated here because this is based on something we learn about Saeran on the secret endings rather than on his route but I think it stills applies to him. Skiploom is based on a flower and a bulb and likes to float through the wind similar to how Saeran likes to be able to see the sky.

Lillygant, he caught this one the night on the cabin when he leaves to pick the flowers.  Lillygant produces a relaxing smell, gets along with other pokemon pretty easily, is very beautiful and loyal so when he found one he immediately thought of MC and decided to add it to his team.

Swirlix, sweet candy pokemon which reminds of cotton candy and ice cream is perfect for this guy (I know vanillite family is literally ice-cream but somehow I feel swirlix fits Saeran better)

Minun; the same as with Saeyoung. He kept minun with him all time after Saeyoung disappeared but after joining Mint Eye he kept it on its pokeball because the memory of his brother’s betrayal was too painful, yet he didn’t have the heart to get rid of it. When he starts working with the intelligence unit to find Saeyoung Minun becomes part of his team.

Mint Eye Leader Rika wants to battle

When she was in RFA she was a Fairy type trainer because she wanted to be good and didn’t want anybody to notice the darkness within her but when she embraces her demons she becomes more fond of Dark type (even though there is only 1 dark type pokemon on his team)

Vespiquen, this pokemon is the queen of the hive which is the role the savoir plays at Mint Eye.

Solrock, I don’t need to explain this…you all saw that coming.

Shiinotic, it produces powerful spores that Rika uses to make the elixir.

Florges (Yellow Flower) this is based on the chatroom with V on Ray route in which he talks about the daffodil on his garden, Florges absorbs energy from the surrounding plants.

Absol, they are believed to be a bad omen and bring disgrace which is pretty much how Rika lived as a child so it became her closest friend from the day she caught it when she was a child. When she started going out with V she hide it because she didn’t want him to reject her but when she discovers V sees nothing wrong with her Absol it becomes a permanent member of her team

Herdier (based on Sally) died on battle. It was a very traumatic experience for Rika from which she never got over so the spot on her team was left forever empty.

Why do you think that Saeran didn't have DID in the Original Story?

I apologize in advance if this isn’t exactly coherent; it’s late, and so my thoughts might be a bit all over the place.

I don’t think Saeran had DID in Original Story because there are absolutely no signs of it.

I’ve played the Original Story—and in specific, Saeyoung’s Route, into which I include the Secret Endings since they’re a continuation of his route—enough times that I have a good number of the chats memorized, and so that I don’t even have to read the guest e-mails before knowing what the correct answer choices are. I’ve gone through them non-linearly (as in, going into the history / Secret Endings out of order to look over things withotu actually playing through them) even more times. Saeyoung is my favorite character, but it’s because he’s my favorite character that I’ve spent a lot of time paying attention to and studying those that are important to him. Namely, this means both Saeran and Vanderwood.

As a result of this, I’m really familiar with who Saeran is in the Original Story, and I say with confidence that we never saw signs of DID in the Original Story. Due to the fact that we never saw signs of it, and also due to the fact that DID makes romancing him possible (more on that in a second), I feel confident in saying that Saeran was not originally conceptualized to have DID, but rather, this is something that Cheritz “retconned” (if you truly consider Another Story to be in the same universe as Original Story, rather than an AU, which I personally don’t but ymmv) onto him in order to make romancing him possible.

What I mean by that is … think back to the Saeran that we see in Original Story. Think about everything he does: How threatening he is, how he actually assaults and tortures in Bad Endings, how his grasp on emotional regulation is so poor that the slighest thing can make him grow violent in the Secret Endings (which is a defense mechanism, absolutely, but it still speaks to poor emotional regulation). How possible do you really think striking up a romantic relationship with someone in that state is, both from the standpoint of actually being able to build a healthy romantic relationship with them, and from the standpoint of wanting to? Yes, there are of course people who ate up things like the Bad Ending in the Christmas DLC where he takes MC away to dress her up like a doll, or those who liked the idea of Saeran whisking MC away in the prologue Bad Ending to make her his assistant, but for the most part Cheritz probably realized that the average player wouldn’t want to romance Saeran with the way he behaved in Original Story (and also, if they knew their own character, wouldn’t be able to romance him even if they did want to). The trauma-ridden young man that we see simply wasn’t attractive or available, from a personality standpoint, in the same way the other characters are. Which, again, isn’t to say that he didn’t have his fans, because he very clearly did, but they were far fewer in number before Another Story released.

So with that said, if Cheritz wanted to create a route for Saeran (and after seeing that there was at least some fan demand for it, they did, because they wanted that sweet dolla dolla), they knew they had to solve the problem of Saeran’s lack of attractiveness / lack of availability. There is simply no conceivable way to write him as a romance option in Original Story. It cannot be done. But in an alternate universe, they have a little more wiggle room, because they can change and alter things as they pleased. Since they were already going to do this for V (though I maintain this wasn’t necessary, and that V could have easily been a Deep Story option), they decided to do the same for Saeran. However, I think they recognized that this was still a risk. Thus, while they “retconned” DID onto him and created the much more attractive and available “Ray,” they didn’t release his route immediately. Instead, they tested the waters by seeing how fans would react to him in V’s Route. I do think that Saeran’s Route was still planned from the get-go (hence those magenta hearts), but Cheritz, being an indie company, likely didn’t want to spend the money until they were sure fans would buy it (which is a smart move). Hence, they tested the waters with “Ray,” and when they saw that the fanbase was foaming at the mouth over “Ray” to the point of virtually ignoring V despite the fact that it was his route, they gave Saeran’s Route the greenlight and moved forward with it.

So with that said, let’s look back at Original Story. As I said, there is nothing in Original Story to point toward the idea that he has DID. I mean, think about it: If there was an insinuation that he had DID in Original Story, don’t you think people would have brought it up? That people would have mentioned it? It’s one thing for people to look back on Original Story now and try to twist things to see his DID through the lens of “well, he had it in Another Story, so let’s try to find it in Original Story,” but it’s another thing altogether to take a fandom that had played this game fairly obsessively for over a year and have them completely miss any hints of multiple personalities residing within one of the more important characters to the central story before the idea is suddenly shoved to the forefront in an AU. The idea that “well, we just didn’t have enough focus on Saeran before!” is nonsense, because Secret Ending 02 is pretty much entirely from his point of view, and DID is never mentioned nor brought up. He never mentions having other personalities. The closest we get to any of this in the Secret Endings are the moments where he’s conflicted over whether Saeyoung abandoned him or not, and he’s “arguing” with himself, but fam, I argue with myself all the damn time, and I don’t have DID. Unlike in Another Story, where Saeran explicitly mentions one of his personalities “telling” him things, that’s not the case with the internal struggles he has over Saeyoung in the Secret Endings. Instead, it’s literally Saeran warring with himself over what he actually believes and what he wants to believe, both of which bleed together because he’s in a mental state where he doesn’t even know what he wants anymore. But the point I’m trying to make here is that his internal struggles are not a conclusive sign of DID. They’re not. If they were, far more people would have been talking about Saeran’s DID prior to the release of Another Story, and I never saw a single person mention it. Not even once.

Speaking of people not talking about it, there’s also the Free Talk that his voice actor had following Secret Ending 02 (which, again, was dedicated to Saeran and was largely from his point of view). Saeran’s voice actor does mention a mental illness when talking about how he voiced Saeran, but DID is not the mental illness mentioned. Instead:

As a brief side note before I continue: When I mentioned above that Saeran as we see him in the Original Story is not romanceable, I DID NOT AT ALL MEAN TO IMPLY that people with BPD are not romanceable. So please, please, do not think I was trying to say that. There are so many people with BPD who are in loving, healthy relationships, even if they have their hard days. One of my dearest friends has BPD, and she’s one of the sweetest people I have ever met, and is definitely deserving of love. So please, please don’t think that I was trying to say, “Well, he has BPD, so he’s not attractive or available,” because that isn’t at all what I meant. I was referring strictly to his behavior and his actions (which, yes, are a result of his trauma, but as he recovers he’ll get better, and much later on down the line, he might be in a place where he can healthily pursue a romance with someone).

That side note out of the way …

As you can see above, Saeran’s voice actor specifically says that he thinks Saeran has borderline personality disorder in Original Story. If Saeran was meant to have DID in Original Story, surely that is information that Cheritz would have conveyed to his voice actor. I mean, why wouldn’t they? It would inform how he acted, particularly when you consider those moments I mentioned above where Saeran wars with himself. If those instances were supposed to be demonstrations of two personalities battling it out, then that would be something that Saeran’s voice actor would mention in the free talk. He would mention Saeran having multiple personalities. But he doesn’t; not only does he mention BPD, as shown above, but he also consistently refers to Saeran as having one (1) personality:

He mentions Saeran developing a personality (i.e. developing a certain way as an individual) in Original Story, rather than Saeran creating multiple personalities as a result of his trauma. And you know, it makes sense; as I’ve written before, Saeran demonstrates symptoms of C-PTSD in Original Story, and the thing about C-PTSD is that it can often be confused with BPD because the two share a lot in common, to the point where C-PTSD is often classified as a personality disorder because of the way it shapes the way a person grows and learns to view and interact with the world (something I know from personal experience). In fact, as a bit of personal anecdotal evidence, I actually sought out my therapist because she specialized in BPD, and after reading a lot about BPD online, I thought I had it. When I went to see her, though, and she examined me, she concluded that I do not have BPD, but that I instead have C-PTSD, and was getting the two confused (which, again, is understandable because the two have a lot of symptoms in common). So it makes sense that Saeran’s voice actor would specifically refer to his trauma leading him to grow into the person that he has in Original Story, because that absolutely happens in real life, all the time. And while it’s true that trauma can also result in dissociation that results in DID (in fact, if the research I did provided me with correct information, most—if not all—cases of DID stem from trauma), I don’t believe that Saeran’s voice actor was trying to say that Saeran developed DID from his trauma. Rather, he was referring to the way that Saeran’s trauma shaped his personality as he grew, which is absolutely a descriptor of C-PTSD (again, coming from someone who has it as a result of childhood / adolescent trauma).

Lastly, as I mentioned (and talk about in the post I linked), what Saeran does demonstrate signs and symptoms of in Original Story is C-PTSD, not DID. (I know that his voice actor says BPD, but again, they share a lot in common, and C-PTSD isn’t very widely known, I don’t think.) And he actually displays these symptoms in such a real way that I found myself aching with empathy for him in the Secret Endings. As I’ve mentioned before, the way my C-PTSD has developed is far closer to Saeyoung’s, so I find Saeyoung to be a more relatable character; however, Saeran’s C-PTSD was still achingly real, particularly once we actually get to enter his point of view and we see that he’s actually terrified and vulnerable beneath the defensive aggression he throws up to push others away. We see flashbacks to his childhood, and his musings on his childhood, where he tells us (or thinks about in such a way that it feels like he’s telling us) how he was actually always pessimistic in childhood, and believed that there wasn’t really any hope of escaping their mother’s home, but that Saeyoung’s optimism gave him a few shreds of that hope anyway. We see how he thinks about how he has always loved staring at the sky, and how he just wishes that he could stare at clouds forever. We see him express fear over Saeyoung abandoning him, even as he at the same time wants Saeyoung to leave. We see him awkward, unsure, and vulnerable around the RFA, even as they accept him. We see him still visibly hurting from his trauma, because recovery is not an easy or painless process, but we also see that he is still the same Saeran he always was, ever since childhood, just very, very wounded, but not beyond healing.

What I’m trying to get at here is that I agree with his voice actor. Saeran was a fully realized character in Original Story, and was an extremely believable trauma survivor. Extremely. He’s one of the best written trauma survivors that I’ve seen in recent media. And to see Cheritz strip that away, retcon DID onto him so that he could be more appealing to their audience (because again, while Saeran had his fans before, that was nothing compared to the screeching over “Ray” that began as soon as Another Story released), and then say that he was magically all healed up in less than eleven days is … extremely disappointing to me. No offense to those who like it, but I’m not at all a fan, especially since it seems pretty obvious to me that it was done in order to make him more palatable to players, rather than because it was something that would actually benefit his character to include. (And honestly, Cheritz trying to wink-wink-nudge-nudge the audience by having Saeyoung mention how cliché it is in a chat isn’t cute. You don’t get to escape criticism for bad writing by acknowledging and laughing at the fact that it’s bad writing. It doesn’t work like that.)

So tl;dr, that is why I’m confident that DID was never part of Saeran’s character in Original Story. There were no signs of it, his voice actor clearly had no clue that it was supposed to be a thing (because as I said, if he did, he would have talked about that instead of BPD), and Saeran instead does show practically every single sign and symptom of C-PTSD. Another Story Saeran has DID, but Original Story Saeran doesn’t, and while everyone is entitled to have their own opinions on which portrayal of Saeran they prefer (and I won’t tell anyone otherwise, nor do I want to fight about it), I know which one I’m a fan of, and it’s not the one that Cheritz introduced in September of 2017.

MM Thoughts -- The Failure to Redeem Rika

Topic: Mystic Messenger -- V’s Route/After Ending + Ray’s Route  

For those who don’t know, I have the biggest hate boner for Mystic Messenger’s Rika. And I’d say a good part of that is Cheritz’s attempt to retroactively change Rika so she can garner sympathy from players who’ve actively disliked her like me. The real pinnacle of this is Rika Behind Story, which seeks to replicate why players were more well-receiving of Ray/Saeran by copying the points for why people forgave him onto Rika. But in their haste, Cheritz forgot one thing: context. I’ll go over what I think to be the checklist and whether Rika fulfills these.

Ray was following Rika’s orders

Yes. In Rika’s Behind Story, we find out Mika coerced her into starting Mint Eye and plant a seed of distrust in V. 

Ray was forced from one abusive situation to another   

Yes and No. Rika’s adoptive parents were yikes, but the RFA loved her and V treated her like royalty (to a fault, but I wouldn’t call that abuse) 

When given the chance to change/escape the abusive cycle, Ray openly took it 

No, then Yes. In V’s Route/Ray’s Route, Rika doubled down on her beliefs regardless of what was said and specifically in V’s Good End, after 2 years to stew, she tried to restart Mint Eye again by spiking the drinks at the party. 

Come V’s After Ending, in the Forgive Ending, she now decides to change her ways, starting with calling out the Prime Minister

Now for how I thought they failed on all three (with bits of context for how it worked with Ray/Saeran). Under Read More because it’s a long one. 

Following Orders This point is where context makes all the difference. In Rika’s case, though Mika goes through lengths to convince Rika into creating Mint Eye, at the end of the day? Rika chose to follow through with this, despite several chances to turn back. Really, all it took was seeing fear made her mother back down and Mika’s goading for Rika to adopt these crazy beliefs, start a cult, blind her once-lover, subjugate her friend’s younger brother, and then force her beliefs on these same friends by trying to draw them into her cult?  

At any of these points, Rika could’ve considered the implications of what she was doing, yet she chose not to. She was content to keep doubling down on this nonsense path because “Mika told her to do it”. Whatever you say, game. 

Ray, meanwhile never had a choice. Ray didn’t first believe in Rika’s rhetoric until she took the poor kid into a basement and drugged him repeatedly so he’d be forced to convert. And any time you see Ray begin to crack, she'll reinforce how he’ll be useless/the world outside will shun him/she care about him oh so much/what have you and makes him to take a drug Rika herself says, “allows me to control people more easily.”

There was no chance for Ray to reconsider his actions when the lady who forced him to be dependent on her quickly stamps out any transgressions by any means necessary. Context matters.

Abusive Environments  This one's fault lies within the two’s current environments. At first, Rika was definitely in an abusive environment: her mother was a bitch, the pastor her mom hired to exorcise her sexually abused her, it was one big ball of yikes. I won’t handwave that. Where the trouble comes is when Rika moved away from her parents, her environment was everything but abusive. She had a successful business, a loving partner, several friends who adored her, and a child who saw her as a surrogate mother (Ray himself). 

Am I arguing that abuse from the past can’t come to haunt you? Absolutely not; I’m sure the trauma from her past definitely played a part for why she rebelled so strongly against a clearly happy life. I can relate to the feeling of thinking that you don’t feel worthy of living so comfortably despite others giving you unconditional support. But that doesn’t change that she found a happy life which she tore down in favor of creating her cult, Mint Eye. Now in Mint Eye Rika was living it up by being able to play the Savior who would be “helping others through their pain”. Still no abusive environment here. 

So what about Ray? Same starting point sort of: Ray did have a loving brother, but they were under the thumb of a mother who lived in a constant state of fear and paranoia which he took out on them. And boy howdy does that mother get her mileage: tells him he’s garbage, starves him, ties him up for being bad... Their mother’s best described in one word: yikes. Though there is a ray (badum tss) of hope for him and Saeyoung-- through Saeyoung befriending Rika and V, the two get the hell outta that domicile. Things look like they’re a net plus for Ray... until Rika tears that shit down. 

Some years/months before the game starts (the timeline for this even is honestly confusing but regardless), Ray is taken by Rika to live in Mint Eye. While living in Mint Eye, he’s Rika’s hacking slave who suffers a fresh new slice of abuse. Rika spouts near the same rhetoric as his mother (you’re not worth living unless you’re useful, the world will offer you no kindness, etc.) and has him routinely take her magic koolaid which is physically harmful to the body. He’s also forced to believe that what Rika considers his weak half is another personality, Ray, and the strong him is his real self, Saeran. So abusive environment? Check. Good job, Rika. You goofed it. 

Taking Change Rika? Change? Before V’s After Ending retconned her, that’s a big nope. First, V’s Route by itself (as AE was written much after the fact). When you and V escape Mint Eye thanks to Seven’s help, Rika’s views begin to be challenged. V is going along with her delusions anymore, the MC wasn’t having her nonsense from the start, and the RFA sloooowly turns against her too. Seeing the people she’s come to love turn against her because of her radical views, this is a perfect chance for Rika to reflect: Why is everyone turning their back on me? Are my methods actually wrong? Am I as bad as they’re saying I am?. I can buy at first she’d like to double down because admitting your 2-years-strong philosophy is wrong isn’t easily done, plus the woman’s naturally stubborn. And then she blows up the apartment. 

After she fakes her death (again), the game says that another two years goes by. In other words, Rika has two whole years to consider what’s happened. She’s got all this time to herself to reflect and come to the conclusion that what she did was wrong and resolve to change. Cut to the party, and what does she do? She gives her beliefs another go. She tries to give the guests spiked drinks, is caught, and then tries to browbeat Yoosung when he catches her. Rika is clearly not sorry at all. She still thinks she’s right, so that time to reflect? Worthless. 

Ray’s Route is a similar case. Saeran realizes the abuse he’s thrown at the MC is verbatim what he mom told him, causing him to reflect. And by the time his route’s about to end, he resolve to escape this abusive cycle with a little support from you (and a lesser extent V) and presents what he’s learned to Rika’s front door. Saeran tells Rika that what she’s doing with Mint Eye’s believers is her parroting what her parents did to her. And he’s right: we see her repeat her mother’s words verbatim, a realization which does dawn upon her. She then tries to goad Saeran to forgive her and come back, Saeran rejects her, and you see her reconsider her actions... for all of 5 seconds. Then she goes right back to “I was right”, “what I did was love”, and V condones it. 

There was a legitimate chance for Rika to finally reflect and give me reason to go “Least she recognized she was wrong”, alas nope. 

Then there’s V’s After Ending, which just doesn’t deliver on this. For most of the AE, the only impression I got was Rika felt “sorry” because she lost. I don’t see someone who feels remorse, but someone who thinks herself to be the tragic villain that’ll soak up all the hurt feelings because “I deserve it”. The only time she she shows active, genuine remorse is the Forgive Ending, but that’s the problem. To get Rika to realize she’s wrong, the player has to already forgive Rika’s actions first. 

Was it so wrong to expect Rika to actively try and earn her forgiveness, and then let the player decide whether they'd accept it or throw it out? The message the AE was shooting for would be a lot less contrived if so. As the AE is now, it reads as “thou must forgive Rika first before you can earn her redemption”. Not the logical reverse. 

Summary: MM tried to redeem Rika by taking beats from what they did with Saeran, yet failed to deliver because of context and expecting players to make the leap first.

hmm... how about doing tarot for some of the Saerans? Assuming I could grab one of my decks before going to Magenta or if I already had one on me. I figure Ray would have no context for any of it. Suit would probably try to grab them to get a reaction out of me bc you do NOT touch the cards without permission!!!! you're gonna fuck up the energy!!!!! I'm gonna have to cleanse and recharge them now!!!!!! Do!!!!!! Not!!!!! TOUCH!!!!!!! (Tho honestly, Suit's Vibes(tm) would probably muddy them up just from being in the room). Figure GE Saeran would be ready to see and learn just about anything, especially if it's one of my interests, tho I wonder how he'd feel about spiritual stuff.

Ray would have no clue about tarot. Mint Eye is a cult based around Catholicism, or at the very least, Rika's trauma surrounding it. That's something that makes a point of making itself known many times not only to the player but to anyone who... has the misfortune of being in that building for a single second. But, it wouldn't take long for him to understand the concept. To him, he would see it as a means of trying to tell your future, and nothing more.

But, the way your eyes light up and you find yourself at ease when you're shuffling your cards? It makes him curious. He wants to learn more about this craft so he can listen to you talk about it. That's how he engages with all of your interests. It doesn't matter if it wouldn't be something he'd consider interesting for himself, no, what matters the most to him is that it means something to you... so, he wants to learn so you don't have to explain yourself a million times. You deserve the talking partner of the ages that helps you feel seen.

But, the problem area for him would be his struggle to believe in the readings you give. What if you get a reading that's harsh? He doesn't want you to think the future is filled with pain. He struggles to accept that tarot doesn't just tell you good news, it warns, scolds, and does a lot more when you ask for it or need to hear it. Apart from that, he's a super avid listener and learner!

Suit Saeran's vibes are not going to help his case. He is filled to the brim with energy that already isn't helping him, and it certainly isn't going to help you or the cards out. The problem with him is easier to locate, though. You've got a good point that his instinct would be to grab the deck if he could. He wouldn't want you to "have the ability to read your future and see something positive". In Ray's BRE 2, did Ray and Saeran already fuse together during that time? Because I remember no matter if we called him Ray or Saeran when we just woke up, he said something like "Are you hoping that I was Ray/Saeran? I also don't know who I am" so I'm curious whether they haven't realize that they fuse or if they are still separated as Ray and Saeran

Similar to the case of Saeran's BE3, there's supposed to be a lot of confusion about that. It's not fundamentally clear what happens so it's left open to speculation. Savior Saeran is also never Ray nor Suit Saeran, in my opinion. When Suit Saeran is captured on Day 9 in the middle of the night, he knows that it's the end of the line. If they grab him in Magenta and take him away, he knows that it's never going to be okay. He won't be able to save you or Ray.

Ray and Suit Saeran were starting to work together that day, and that was the beginning of what would ultimately bring GE Saeran into this world. But, the fact of the matter is that they get tortured during Day 9 by Rika and the guards. He is fed so much elixir that it nearly puts him into a coma and leaves him dazed and confused about every bit of information he knows.

When Saeran wakes up on Day 10 for the first time, he isn't sure who he is, either. It takes some talking and some realization for him to say, "I'm Ray and Saeran. I'm not one or the other. I'm both of them and I am me." But, he only comes to that conclusion and confirms this fact when he speaks to MC in the garden. It takes him all that time to be able to figure out who he is and what his feelings are. But, in the case of BE3 and BRE2, there's no time to make sense of those feelings for himself.

He is tortured continually for quite a long time and made to submit to others. It clouds his mind even more... making him lose any sense of the things that Ray or Suit Saeran wanted to have now, leaving him in a place of disconnection that he's never been in before. He's dealing with dissociation, derealization, and depersonalization all at once. He doesn't have any way to know what he wants to think, if he's real, or if the world around him is real. The elixir is making him suffer, and his body having a trauma response to the pain only makes things harder on his brain.

His brain has tried to make him forget bits and pieces to hold him together... but he's barely hanging on. That's why we see that dead look in Savior Saeran's eyes. He's lost and the only thing he knows at that point is he wanted to make you happy and as long as you're safe and happy, he can... suffer like this for you.

BRE Saeran just knows he needed to get you out of Mint Eye as soon as possible. He sends you to the RFA since he knows they can help you, but he doesn't come with you. His memory is too jumbled and all he knows is that he should... suffer. Since he'd not been fast enough to take you out of Mint Eye, and you were given so much elixir that it's made you sick. He isn't sure who he is, what he wants, and what he deserves. He just knows he made a promise. That's it.

So, the answer is complicated. We don't know. We just know that the torture that Ray and Suit Saeran suffered has created havoc in their brain. There's a possibility that they did fuse but we have no way to know for sure since there's not enough information given to us to be able to know one way or the other. There's also a chance that these Saerans are another person altogether!

There's no direct answer in this situation. Sorry, I can't give you a concrete answer, but this is one of those things that I can't discern one way or the other. It's up to what you think.

What kind of music does se suit saeran make? How would you describe it as sounding (i.e., intense, soft, etc.) and how would it make someone listening to it feel? I'm very newly interested in him, thank you!

Oh! I've seen a reignited interest for my Secret Ending takes on Ray and Suit Saeran. So, in my canon, SE Suit Saeran, otherwise known as Grave, writes and composes the music from Another Story as his craft. The first melody he ever composed was I Am The Strongest to deal with his trauma. He needed to feel something to make sense of his existence and that song is what he created out of it.

So, you can already imagine that if he's the one in that universe who creates those songs... that his style is very much driven by all those emotions he's felt over the years. His music is guided by the intensity of existing the way he does in every way, shape, and form. It's like he paints a world of anguish and fear at his fingertips. It's somehow soft and desperate... angry and twisted. You can tell his pencil was almost trembling when he wrote the notes down.

If you're listening to him play... it's going to feel like you've been caught up in his emotions. You feel like you're in an hourglass and the sand is starting to bury you by the minute. It's a sense of fear inside your bones but... you almost welcome it because it reminds you of the familiarity you have with your fears.

All you can think about is the feeling of yearning for more but hitting a wall every time you think the world is going to give you a chance... but the gentle melodies that he plays when he's alone? Those make you feel like you want to embrace him and never let go if he'll give you a moment to try. He may be hurting and filled with anguish but it's so clear for you to see that he's a bleeding heart that wants love.

If you want a really good idea, [I suggest listening to this playlist] because everything I imagine to be composed by Grave comes from the same person who composed much of the MM OST.
