Does anyone know the name of that one fic on ao3 where Zuko rescues two water tribe boys (part of Hakoda’s fleet) from the ocean and then ends up falling for one of them?
I can give more details if needed, I just can’t find it and it’s driving me insane.

a plant-specific plant skit reaction, from my sister
i am not a plant person, but i live with a lot of plants because i live with my sister, who is a plant person and active hobbyist! she watched the plant skit and gave me a bunch of her opinions
for those who, like me, also aren’t plant people, her basic summary was this:
“(Phil) honestly did a *REALLY* good job caring for a plant collection as a non-hobbyist. Some of those are so fragile. Just a few dry bits of fern to pull off is frankly impressive.” she full on said “phil did a good job.” yay phil!
the slightly longer version:
“My bet is that Dan left him a specific list of what to do and forgot the dracaenas, since the others show inconsistent or incorrect care, not neglect. And then Phil followed the instructions to the letter. Schedules don't work long-term; you have to observe and change care. Meaning that someone who is eager to Do The Thing for their loving partner could totally leave some plants in distress...because they are Following Instructions but not a Plant Guy.”
back to me for a sec:
obviously this whole thing where dan despairs over his dead plants is a (very funny) bit but i, the non-plant person, find it extremely sweet that phil obviously tried! plant care is hard even if you like doing it!
more specifics for each plant!
this isn’t in chronological order, and she apologizes for any plant misidentification, but honestly, it went so fast; i’m impressed she had reasonable guesses for pretty much everything
1. “the nanouk and maidenhair are absolutely fine.” 2. “the orchid will recover.” 3. “the snake plant (the first one) is very overwatered and shouldn't have been touched while he was on vacation, for any length of time. they can go months without water... Snake plants surprise people; they're almost more static decorations than plants, thus easy to overwater.” 4. “the calathea is fine. brown edges just means it's being a baby about inconsistent watering (or phil used tapwater instead of distilled)... Calatheas and ferns are really delicate.“ 5. “the schefflera is too brief to tell if it's drooping from under or over watering. it's in a prominent hallway so i'm guessing he overwatered. honestly they're kinda...susceptible to rot.” 6. “i think that the ones in the crotch planter is dracaena and i'm impressed they're so dry and crispy...they might have already been dying. the terra cotta probably dries out too fast.” 7. “he's not allowed to act dramatic about his bromeliad. they're supposed to die like that. it is underwatered though...The bromeliad's dead part is entirely death bloom, so it only looks bad.”
(rory note: dan? not be dramatic??? impossible)
8. “acting upset over his outside plants. in winter. he's gotta just be playing, lol.“
the more planty summary:
“his succulents only need one good soak and they'll be fine. most of his plants are fine. RIP suspected dracaena. everything else is either fine, will be fine with rehab, or can be propagated into a new plant(s)... tbh it looks like Phil turned Dan's plants into hobby rehabs for him to learn more about propagating and bacterial management and stuff so really Dan should thank him”
SAY THANK YOU, DANIEL

I was just listening to some of my absolute favorite Hans Zimmer soundtracks from 'the little polar bear 2' and remembered, that there was also a series of it, that contained like a short movie about a little Husky pup, that got accidentally left behind as the humans traveled to their next camp and Lars helped him to get back home...
I remember how happy it always made me feel. The thing is, we didn't have the dvds of it, so I always had to hope that it would come on tv again.
Whenever Nanouk (the Husky) howled, Lars shut his ears and was like "Stop crying, you don't need to be sad" and Nanouk was like "I'm not sad, this is our ancient way to communicate!" And when they got close enough to the camp, he howled out again and his mom heard him and was like "Nanoouuuuuuuuuk" and so their followed each other's voices and found each other again <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I always howled along and pretended to be Nanouk while watching. That was probably the closest thing to "Wolf" that I've watched as a kid ❤ No wonder, it was my absolute favorite. I also have an old cassette with a song of Nanouk. I really need to listen to it again to refresh my memory. I don't know anymore how the song goes, just that I always played it on repeat lol
Damn... this was an old memory that just got brought up lol

April is... National Poetry Month!
Check out a volume of poetry this April for National Poetry Month!
Blood Snow by Dg Nanouk Okpik
Here, in a true Inupiaq voice, dg okpik's relationship to language is an access point for understanding larger kinships between animals, peoples, traditions, histories, ancestries, and identities. Okpik's poems have a fraught relationship to her former home in Anchorage, Alaska, a place of unparalleled natural beauty and a traumatic site of devastation for Alaskan native nations and landscapes alike. In this way, okpik's poetry speaks to the dualistic nature of reality and how one's existence in the world simultaneously shapes and is shaped by its environs.
Falling Back in Love with Being Human by Kai Cheng Thom
Kai Cheng Thom grew up a Chinese Canadian transgender girl in a hostile world. When overwhelmed with the viciousness of others, she gathered all her rage and grief and took a leap of faith: she wrote. Whether prayers or spells or poems, she wrote to affirm the outcasts and runaways she calls her kin. She wrote to flawed but nonetheless lovable men, to people with good intentions who harm their own, to racists and transphobes seemingly beyond saving. What emerged was a blueprint for falling back in love with being human.
I Done Clicked My Heels Three Times by Taylor Byas
These poems take their inspiration from the cult classic film The Wiz to explore a Black woman’s journey out of the South Side of Chicago and into adulthood. At every stop, the speaker is made to confront her womanhood, her sexuality, the visibility of her body, alcoholism in her family, and various ways in which narratives are imposed on her. Re-casting Chicago as a living, breathing entity, this volume spans sestinas, sonnets, free-verse, and erasures, all to reimagine the concept of home.
Grand Tour by Elisa Gonzalez
This debut collection of poetry by Elisa Gonzalez dramatizes the mind in motion as it grapples with something more than an event: she writes of a whole life, to transcendent effect. By the end, we feel we have been witness to a poet remaking herself. Gonzalez’s poetry depicts the fullness of living, moving through elegy, romantic and sexual encounters, family history, and place to answer one, persistent question: How do you reconcile a hatred for the world’s pain with a love for that same world?

(for Nanouk) Desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?, Hate: What does your OC hate? Why? How do they act towards the object of their hatred?
-Not-so-nice asks from here-
Desire:
Nanouk desires freedom, deep down past everything. She also desires a certain kind of power that comes with freedom, and she finds it in strange places. In Bleach, she joined the 11th because she knew she would excel at it, but also because the captain was an abusive shitbag and she vowed to end his life- more power, and more freedom if she was the one in charge. There is power in being in charge of people that she thrives with, a power in having trust, in respect, and no matter how much it seems like she's a loner or would rather never speak to anyone again, that's just not who she is. She finds power in being herself and still commanding respect, freedom in molding a group of people into such an efficient and well-fed machine that their usefulness is never questioned. In GT she is something of an enigma, a spiritual leader who spends much of her time leading expeditions, exploring and even leading groups of visitors to sacred lands in her home. She finds freedom in sharing those pieces of her culture, in being the only person that ensures their survival. She finds power in being the one people look to as a mentor when they want to get into her field. She's honestly a simple person that goes about it in a very complex way looking at her from the outside. She wants to be the best at what she does, and she wants people to listen. As far as she's aware, she's very open and straightforward about what she wants. Due to the way she speaks and the... general sharpness of her, people put mysteries in her when there aren't any. All you really have to do is ask her, but generally people just. Don't. It's one of the reasons in Bleach no one actually had any idea what her Zanpakuto actually did. They were too afraid to ask, made assumptions, and it stayed a mystery (much to the amusement of the people close to her).
Hate:
NANOUK HATES LIARS. She never lies, she finds liars to be the same as cowards. She hates wordplay and manipulative jargon and deceit. While she understands that sometimes those things may be necessary to achieve certain goals, she'll have no part of it and (in Bleach) fucking hates the 8th division captain specifically because being a silver-tongued manipulator is their whole thing, no matter what good comes out of it. Nanouk wants her subordinates to be honest, with themselves and others, she wants things to be clear-cut. It genuinely annoys her that her reputation is so mysterious, but she also believes that's other people's problem and she's not going to clear the air for them. I will say this is a little hypocritical of her, specifically because her best friend in the entire world also utilized a well-placed lie here and there to get things done, and Nanouk begrudgingly went along with it. People think that might just be because there was already a solid foundation of respect, but still.

The Fate of Inupiaq-Like Kingfisher
But no one can stop a bird spear set in motion, made of notched bone, feathered arrows pinnate around the shaft, with hair fringe as it strikes piercing depilated skin. Some humans weave themselves with lime grass, into large orbs. Others make goosefeet baskets of seaweed or with narrow leaves, or collect matches or tobacco. The lamp soot burns like gas. On Clovis point a circular icy reef, my existence becoming a flicker like the orange scales of a kingfisher. We pirouette, diving, diving, deep.

List five things that make you happy, then put this in the ask box of the last ten people who reblogged something from you! (if you want to that is)
God, five things that make me happy??
Well first off, fair warning, I'll be rambling. It's kinda a bad habit, but I refuse to address that.
Anyways, let's get crackalacking, I guess.
Rats: I fucking love them so much. I don't care if they're hairless or furry or what colors or patterns or whatever they've got going on. I just love them. They're sweet lil babies and they're so smart. RIP to my two hairless babies and my very old fancy childhood babe.
Rocks: I fucking love collecting or finding pretty rocks. I don't care if it's meaningless or an actual geode or something. I just love it. Even better if you find some rocks with fossils, but honestly just love rocks and stuff.
Stationary: I have like a problem with buying stationary, like a serious one. I don't really need a decent portion of it, but I really like seeing all the pretty notebooks and trying to dedicated them to certain subjects to be more organized. And I love pens and art supplies, and ahdnskm it's a serious problem. I recently got a few things of my favorite pens, G2 Pilots :), and then a new notebook I had to climb a shelf for with my sister at Walmart. But like it was worth it. Hella nice and it's pages are very nice as well as the cover that originally pulled me in lol.
Plants & Preserved Plants: Okay so, as of recent I've become a bit of a plant parent/father and I'm kinda loving it? I've already had interest in plants for a while, but I never put a ton of effort into them cause I just know nothing about them really. Well, now I have four like guys and soon to be like six cause I had to propagate one of my cacti, which if you're still learning like me it basically means I had to cut off growth and I'll be potting them soon in their own pot(s). Anyways, I have two cacti, one I've named Uzuki and the other Ren. Then I have a lucky bamboo plant I've named Haru, and a Nanouk plant I've named Kumo. Oh, btw, Uzuki is a bunny eared cacti, and I believe that Ren is a Mammillaria Compressa cacti, but I honestly have no idea. Anyways, I also have some preserved roses or various colors and a preserved lily!! :)) In general, they just bring me join.
Harvey from Stardew Valley: I CANNOT explain how happy that man makes me. I literally fucking squeal over this stupid lil man. Gods. I won't ramble too much about him, but he makes me really happy, and I think he's fucking adorable. I love him so much, and I am so fucking excited to learn more about him in game and everything!! :))
Alright!! All done! To anyone who sees this, and would this do this themselves, go for it. I'm gonna send this to some people's inboxes myself, but still. Anyone is welcome to join and you guys can share makes you happy!

it's taken me a few days to get through H&V but I finally finished AND JFNSMSKSMSMS I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT TO DEATH 💖💖💖
I feel like it's completely underrated especially since I've drawn pirate zuko stuff (not related to H&V just fanart for @/ash-and-starlight, you may or may not be familiar I'm not sure) and I get the most asks from people wondering where they could find a pirate zuko fic and i never could answer them for a fic WHEN THIS EXISTS RIGHT HERE?????? There's not... there's not even a thousand kudos on ao3??? That is INSANE, this fic is AMAZING and I know I've commented on ao3 but I'm about to gush right here too
The storybuilding and backgrounds and lore is absolutely... insane. Like the notes at the end of each filling out an already expansive world into something even MORE full of life???? I love them so much, and I read every one of them
Every member on Zuko's ship I have a huge attachment to, they're so incredibly full of life... like you can tell when a character lives outside of the MC and you do that with SO MANY CHARACTERS!!!! I don't like feeling like made-up atla characters are there to exist for the protags, because then it gets boring if I'm stuck with them and I'll usually skim through to get to the protags, but this? aghhdjdjwne it's SO GOOD I love when you steer away from zuko to look at them <3
And zukos relationships.... holy shit.... I LOVE them. You actually got me cheering on for Yura and Zuko more than I did zukka NDMSMSMKA and the way they separated was just... it hurt, but like you said it was more satisfying, and I hope Yura and Nanouk come back at some point
Lastly I think you made Captain Zaima incredibly badass and frightening. I've seen too many authors TRY to make their villains incredibly scary but also cool and relaxed (albeit slightly unhinged) but it just comes off as them trying to tell me this is how I should feel about them fjsmkskwkw
THIS FIC IS GLORIOUS THANK YOU 💖💖💖 Whether you like it or not I'm getting others in on this fic too, it is way too underrated when I have had people asking me where to find something just like this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cannot really begin to express how much I appreciate this? Seeing people responding like this to something I worked hard on, and actually getting out of it stuff I went out of my way to put in? I can't I'm dead my corpse will finish the fic on my behalf

I have compiled some of my writing journey over the years! Let's just say that getting where I'm at today took a lot of work. And a lot of spelling mistakes (which I will not be correcting from baby's works)
2009 - 2014
(Under cut because it gets long)
2009 - 8 years old
The first written story I could find, dates back to end of October of 2009. Yeah, so... Is this enough proof that I'm dyslexic? V v cute, but the letter inversions are a little extreme
Tumblr media

Lucky and Alyssa
Once a upon time there were a little cat named Alyssa and a dog named Lucky. Alyssa love milk, Lucky too, but he like't more water. One day there were no thing to drink. So Lucky said to Alyssa, "Let's go find water." Alyssa said: "Well I don't relly like water, but I could for once." They went outside to go find water. They look't all arond the house. They all so look't all arond other houses. After They arived to the Parc. Alyssa said: "Let's torn." Lucky said, "No let's continue." So They continue. All the kids sotp't. Alyssa said, "Why are they saring at us." Lucky said, "I don't no." They ran home. After they had their drink.
The End ]
The last one I found from 2009, a story about a (genderfluid or just spelling mistake?) panda. Let's just say that I had no notion of time at that age, apparently. Also I showed this one to my mom and all she had to say after laughing was "I really love the spelling mistakes"
Tumblr media
[ Thursday, November 26th 2009
Once upon a time there was a panda. She did not live in China, he lve in a zoo. She had lots and lots of friends. But one day there were no body. She didn't no that it was her birthday. She waited 5 seconses. They all jumped out of there hiding spots and said, "Soprise Emma!" and singed Happy birthday. She was so happy. The play tag. After the zoo keeper made a bamboo cake. They saw a monkey. He landed right on the zoo keeper's head. They laught.
The End! ]
2010 - 9 years old
This marks the beginning of the Momo and Light saga (which I used all the way until the end of high school; my final project was five Momo and Light stories, illustrated and written by yours truly). It also marks the first story with an illustration!
*Momo and Light, as well as Marie and Nanouk were all my pets at the time. Except Light who is still happily living her best life with my sister, they have all since passed, so it was nice seeing my childish self so adoring of them

Momo and Light it's Christmas
Once up on a time there was a cat named Light and a dog named Momo. It was Christmas. So Momo said; "I'm going to put my elf costume." Light said; "I'm puting my reindeer costume." So they put there costumes on. After they played in there room for 1 hour. They played Wii, computer and with there Build-a-bears. At 1 o'clock, Emma, there master, called them for lunch. Light was so excited she scrimed; "I'm so excited to eat samon." Momo said: "I'm eating some chicken stick's." At souper time, Emma and her parents, went to the restorant. So after they left, Momo and Light went to there best friend Marie and Nanouk. They played with there Build-a-bear. They allso played wii, computer and other stoff. After 6 o'clock, They went home.
The End ]
This is the last Momo and Light of the school year, thought it would be fun to contrast them. I still don't know why my self-insert was called Emma, but oh well. Also I really like apostrophes it seems??? But I learned about paragraphs so!!! Improvement!!! Also the way I gave my mom firetruck red hair is so cute and so accurate for that time, I had completely forgotten about that

Momo, Light and Toby at the water park
Once upon a time there was a cat named Light, a dog named Momo and another dog named Toby. Today, it's a beautiful for the pool. Everyone want's to go out. Just that Emma's and Bella's mother said no beacause she want's them to pickup there mess, after she'll think about it. So they pickup all there mess and asked:
-Can we go to the pool? Please.
There mother said yes,. They went to see at the pool. The pool was full. So they went at the water park, They had just enough place. So on the watter slids. Light was scared of the big ones. So she went on the small ones. After a few hour they came for lunch. There mother said: "We have 2 more hour after going home ok!"
They play for 2 hour and went home. What a wonderful they had!
The End ]
2013 - 12 years old
I can't find anything between 2010 and 2013, probably just more school work and I had just switched school, so I was stressed and didn't write. Also, it was probably in French, so.... But I started writing again in English at 12! Entering the Pokemon phase! (also since these are typed, no transcript)
Tumblr media
Emma never left me, she was my beloved first OC ever after all. And let's just say that she... changed a lot over the years. But here she's still the perfect 9 year old of the Pokemon world because she's special. This was the introduction to what was to be a whole ass novel/series following her journey. If I remember correctly, she was to travel Kanto with her three best friends, lose to her brother Gary in the semi-finals, and decide to pursue a career in the research world (all while being 9-10. Real ambitious if you ask me)
This is also the only thing I could find of 2013 so.... yeah.
2014 - 13 years old
We enter the danger zone: the Percy zone. My obsession until... last year. The next 6 years of writing will be mostly devoted to Ellie x Percy content, I can't believe I'm putting this on the internet. Kid me would murder me............ Welp no time like the present to embarrass myself! We're also going back to pen and paper!
I also don't think I'm going to survive 2014 it's so cringe..... I can't transcript this one. It's even worse than cursed Langa content......... Just take this and never talk to me about it (you're allowed to laugh, I encourage it even. But I just.... oh Gods.) I also hate that it's in the first person.........
Tumblr media
I straight up don't even remember the context of this but I think it was supposed to be some fantasy/princess story??? With time travel and shit??? I don't know.
Tumblr media
I also don't know what the fuck this was supposed to be and I don't want to know. I just know it was going to be fucking long and I'd daydream about it before bed. And it's the least cringy one of 2014 so.... take that as you will.

- AU Gotei 13 - Captain of Division 11 -
Nanouk is the captain of the 11th and the current holder of the title Kenpachi, earned after she publicly fought and tore the head off the former Kenpachi Drust. Drust was a cruel and abusive man and from the academy Nanouk made it one of her career goals to end his tenure as captain and take his position. Nanouk runs a tightly knit, highly trained division and pushes her subordinates to their absolute limits. She is rather cold herself, interested in hunting and combat and keeping the 11th tradition of being the best combative division in the gotei. Personally, Nanouk is not known to be kind or social, but shows respect when it's earned and expects nothing more than what she gives others. She's a loyal ally and someone you always want on your side, because she is not a person that lets go of a goal or goes down easily.

01. calathea warscewiczii (velvet calathea) - i've only had her for two days but if anything happened to her i would kill everyone in this room and then myself. half jokes aside, the leaves of this plants are sooo velvety, i can't get enough. my absolute favorite, i pick favorites and she is one of them
02. scindapsus pictus argyraeus (satin pothos) aka Argent - my BABY. beautiful (especially with that silver speckled pattern hhh), grows quickly even during the wintertime, easy to take care of. she has it all 🥰 even spider mites (i think)
03. monstera adansonii (swiss cheese vine) aka Hoothoot v2- she lookin a little scraggly right now but i love her (@animatedarchives iykyk)
04. ficus tineke (variegated rubber tree) aka Rococo - the thing is lowkey giving me stress but the variegation on her leaves is beautiful so she gets a pass 🥰
05. peperomia 'bamboo stalks' - the cutest 🥺 thing 🥺 it looks like lil mini bamboo, i can't wait until the baby grows more hehe
06. senecio rowleyanus (string of pearls) - again, another really cute plant that i can't wait to see grow, especially from a hanging basket 😌 just looks like bubbles in a pot and i can't get enough
07. calathea 'white fusion' aka Zephyr - kind of a brat but the pretty leaves make it worth it. i am trying so hard, SO HARD, to keep this mf alive. hopefully the higher humidity in the greenhouse cabinet will help, especially once i have the fans and humidifier going in there.
08. tradescantia nanouk - i've been wanting one of the other species (tradescantia fluminensis) for a while and while this may not be the one i initially wanted, she still cute 🥰
09. oxalis triangularis - this one looks like butterflies tbh. enough said, 11/10 (fun fact, the wood sorrel is also bokuto's birth flower 🥰)
10. peperomia 'silver ripple' - okay lowkey i'm still not sure how to take care of her but i heard they were kinda bratty so- wish me luck (hella pretty tho)
11. dischidia ruscifolia variegata (variegated million hearts) - it's,,, so teeny n cute, and when fully grown it looks super lush so i'm excited for my little baby cuttings to grow hehe
12. calathea 'medallion' - cute and i rescued her from costco for the low price of $15. cute but probably has spider mites so i'm lowkey too scared to touch it-
13. philodendron brasil - the variegation is fun to look at, easy to take care of and also fast growing. kinda basic but i love her for it 😌
14. marble queen pothos aka Medusa - stunning variegation, thankfully not a brat
15. njoy pothos aka Baby Ace (@ soph 👀) - the thing looks PAINTED. so so pretty but i've been lowkey neglecting it bc the soil got mold from being so damp and i got grossed out- still need to repot her into a better draining pot
16. golden pothos aka Khrysos - basic houseplant, hella hard to kill, and the variegation is cute. can't wait for it to start vining and look super lush
18. african violet aka Chloris - lowkey i impulse bought this because of it's variegation but have no idea how to take care of it- she's doing pretty okay tho!!
19. variegated creeping fig - kinda neutral about this one since she's been giving me nothing so far in the time i've had her. all in due patience though, esp since it's winter + probably does better in higher humidity
20. hypoestes phyllostachia 'white splash' (white polka dot plant) aka Khione - look if i could give up on this bitch i would. girl has been doing nothing but losing her variegation and dropping leaves. trying to save her though bc i would feel bad tossing her out so fingers crossed ;;
21. hedera helix 'harlequin' (ivy) aka Thalia - she was my favorite until she got absolutely infested with spider mites and spread it to a few of my other plants. this is why i'm traumatized by the little fuckers. my mom threw a fit bc i quarantined her to the bathroom and thought i was neglecting it, so it's been moved to the outdoor garden. have fun with the spider mites, ma 😐

Day 23: Impaled
Nanouk squeezed right beneath the branches that had caught him in his side - every breath deliberately slow, as otherwise the pain would be much more unbearable than it was now.
"Shouldn't we pull them out-?" Soul began. Her question was quickly shot down by the others in the form of quick "No!"s.
They had to be a decent time away from their temporary shelter. Finding something nearby would be faster, but if a blizzard came in while they took care of his wounds they'd be stuck for a while - the idea given thought because of the way the wind had begun to blow with further viciousness than before.
"Let us go back," Nanouk spoke quietly, voice edged with pain, "We have some supply there. We'll last another night."
