I remembered that he had a Zorua friend, that Rood gave to Nate/Rosa in B2W2. I wonder if this Zoroark is his Zorua friend that was entrusted to Nate/Rosa, but Nate/Rosa returned his Zorua (who had evolved to Zoroark) to N when N met them at Pokemon League?

It’s Just Research, Right?
You are helping Toren with some new research regarding certain pokémon moves and types. However, while you’re no scientist, his methods seem a little bizarre.
Tumblr media
You agreed to help him because, frankly, you knew it would be a struggle for him to ask for anyone else. The poor man may have found his voice after the whole incident involving the effect spore gas...which was then overshadowed by everything else. He has more friends after the event, some of them trainers which he could’ve just as easily had help from.
But he wanted help from you. After all, you’ve known Toren the longest, so he felt more comfortable.
Toren was a puddle of anxiety, which may or may not be understood by the people around him. Well, his Chansey and other pokémon always understood and were always by his side. Even your pokémon were there for him, but you knew it was for a completely different reason.
Why was he so cute?
Other people didn’t take the time to notice him like you did. The shyness was adorable, he was a good-looking guy, but what really got you falling hard was his kindness towards others. Despite his high social anxiety, he still has such a good heart towards people and pokémon. Don’t get me started on when he uses Chansey as his “emotional support pokémon”.
But could you ever tell him how you felt? You felt like he would explode from how flustered he would probably get. The poor man avoids situations like that, and you would feel awful if you ruined such a tough-to-build friendship by making him uncomfortable around you.
“Y/N, could you try a dark type move against a dragon type.” Right now, you and Toren were out in one of Fula City’s many parks. You were helping him study move types and battle tactics. The sun was already setting, but you had to wait for Toren to get off work. The two of you were in a field with your pokémon facing one another.
While you were out there to command your pokémon, Toren sat crisscross on the ground not too far away with a notebook in hand. As a trainer, you’d normally have such passion and composure when giving commands. But now your crush was here in front of you, watching you, and you felt all the butterfree in the world fluttering about inside you.
However, you couldn’t stop your occasional stares in his direction. The scene was just too cute!
Toren was sitting there, waiting patiently, with several of your pokémon around him. His Chansey was plopped beside him, watching you with a smile. Your Slyveon was curled up in his lap, occasionally wrapping his ribbons around him in comfort. Luxray was on his other side, napping, with your female Pyroar right beside him. And Lucario, she was meditating nearby. It was clear that Toren was trying to concentrate on what you guys came here for, but he kept getting distracted by the pokémon around him.
His smile and the serenity he held about him made him see like a different person, bringing a grin to your face. But when eye contact was made, you quickly focused back on your last two partners. You were still a trainer, and now was not the time to be distracted.
“Noivern, dragon pulse!”
“Zoroark, counter it with dark pulse!”
You shouted out the commands and the two complied. Noivern flapped his wings steadily and flew high up to fire the attack. Zoroark smirked as she dashed forward before using dark pulse. The two attacks hit each other and exploded into a flurry of dark and purple sparkles. Glancing over at the man, you saw him taking a picture with his phone instead of writing anything down.
Okay...what’s that about?
“Is that what you were expecting?” You asked him after a while, still confused about the whole picture thing. But you waited until he put his phone away before saying anything. You still scared him regardless, causing him to jump and scare Sylveon and Luxray at the sound of your voice.
“U-Um...what?” Toren managed to get out while trying to compose himself. You noticed him petting Sylveon in an anxious manner, but the fairy type didn’t seem to mind. In fact, there was a smile on his cute little face. You pointed back towards the battlefield with a dumbfounded expression where the trinkle of sparkles still rained down over the two pokémon, who were watching you guys.
“The pretty explosion? Weren’t you watching or were you too busy being on your phone?” You called him out on what you witnessed, causing even the pokémon to widen their eyes in shock. Sensing that the work was done, your pokémon spread out and enjoyed themselves. Except Chansey, she stayed right by her trainer’s side.
But her expression was one of worry as she patted his back. Did she know something?
“I-I-I...” Toren stuttered over his words to the point where you thought he would faint. You didn’t mean to make him so nervous, but I guess that was just his nature.
“Did anything my pokémon do today get observed? And now that I think about it, how does this help your research?” You didn’t mean to sound so accusing, but with Toren, it was the easiest way to get answers. Him and the rest of his colleagues, but mostly him, were busy studying pokémon and their relation to human diseases. What did battling have to do with it?
“L-Listen, I-” He started to talk, but his thoughts were so scattered with anxiety that he didn’t get to finish his sentence before you walked over and grabbed the notebook from his lap.
Looking through it, you were absolutely shocked to find nothing in there.
“Toren! Was all this for nothing?” You raised your voice slightly as you stared at the blank pages in disbelief. It wasn’t that you were upset, but more that you were worried. He told you that he needed this information for something important. Toren wouldn’t specify, but you cared enough to do anything he needed you to do.
You understood how he needed time to collect his thoughts, so you waited with intense eyes on him.
After a while, his response was barely audible.
“It wasn’t for nothing...” He mumbled out, avoiding your eyes. You saw him bring his hands together and wring them nervously, fiddling with the sleeves of his coat. You tilted your head in confusion, gently sitting cross-legged in front of him before setting the notebook aside.
“What?” You asked him, confused. Did you miss something? The bubbly crush feeling you got around him vanished as you were now more concerned about what was going on.
Toren bit his lip and continued to avoid eye contact. You were patient with him, but you wondered if you were going to get any information out of him. Then Chansey placed her hand on his back, lightly encouraging him to speak his mind like before. He froze, reminded himself that he can do this, and balled his hands into fists on his knees.
“It wasn’t for nothing...because I got to spend this time with you.” Toren said sincerely, his face growing more and more red the longer you stared at him. Immediately he got the wrong idea and brought his hands up in mock surrender.
“I-I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable!” He shrieked, fear gripping his entire body as Toren thought he just ruined his entire friendship with you. But you just continued to stare at him, making him grow even more flustered, until a smile creeped onto your face.
“Are you trying to say what I hope you are?” You asked him, not getting too excited just yet. Toren was at a loss for words when he heard you say that. Hope? He was so afraid to ever say anything, having kept all his feelings between himself and his pokémon, but if you were hopeful...then perhaps he had nothing to worry about anymore.
“I think so...” Toren whispered with a blush.
“I like you too!” You exclaimed, scaring him once more as you lunged forward for a hug. He was stone still as you wrapped your arms around him tightly.
“So this whole thing was just an excuse to spend time with me?” You asked him, wanting to make sure you guessed correctly.
“Y-Yes...” Toren confessed and was thankful that you couldn’t see how red his face was. Although, he was enjoying the hug, and eventually brought his arms around to hug you back. You were giddy at this knowledge and buried your face into his shoulder with a big smile.
“I’ve always wanted to say something about how I felt, but I was worried I would ruin things.” You told him.
“Same here...but that’s over now?” He asked now and you pulled away from the hug with a grin. You wanted to kiss him right then and there, but you knew Toren would be the one to take things slowly, so you restrained.
“Yes. No more worries. I’m yours.” Those words alone caused him to get flustered. But to save him any embarrassment, you hugged him again so you both could hide your red faces.
But as you embraced there on the grassy ground of the park in the evening sun, Chansey came over and joined in, happy for her trainer. Sylveon nuzzled his way into the hug, wrapping his ribbons around you both, and soon the rest of your team fumbled in as well for one big group hug.
All’s well that ends well, but who knew that Toren could be so devious? Speaking of that...
“What did you take a photo for?” You asked him and he tensed up again before confessing.
“I wanted you as my lock screen...” He confessed shyly, and you couldn’t help but find that adorable.
Well, there was no more needing to hide anymore. If he ever wanted another photo, he could just ask. Some might have found it weird, but you just found it endearing.
So as said, all’s well that ends well.

Ingo x F!Reader
Word count: 2.3k
Warnings: Slight angst
AO3 for all previous parts

“I think Volo’s been trying to kill Y/N.”
“You- Wait a second here Adaman! You mean to say that you think Volo, that blonde Gingko weirdo has been trying to kill Y/N, and you’re just going to throw her a party?” Melli said incredulously as he quickly tried to gather his thoughts but found that he could barely think one up after Adaman’s previous revelation.
“The Gathering, Melli- it isn’t only to unite both clans-” Adaman continued, hands finally opening and letting Melli’s uniform go, the tall man in said uniform equally feeling as if he had been dropped with everything Adaman was revealing to him.
“She is in love with Warden Ingo, and he is in love with her. The Gathering is-“
-
Melli watched as both Pearl Clan Wardens continued to approach, Ingo and Calaba walking side by side, conversing with one another.
An unknown feeling welled inside of the Diamond Clan Warden as he observed Ingo, wind tilting the man’s bizarre hat back just enough for him to grab at it, remembering Adaman’s words; You loved Ingo, and Ingo loved you, neither of you knowing of the other’s love.
There Melli remained, continuing to eye both Wardens as they grew close enough to finally see him.
“Good afternoon Warden Melli!” Ingo’s booming voice greeted him as he began to stop, most likely intending to speak to him like he always did when they saw eachother. Not that Melli really wanted to talk to the man who had also fallen from the sky… just like you had.
It was only then that Melli looked down at the clothes in Ingo’s hold, surprise coursing through him at the sight. Why did Ingo have-
Behind Ingo stood Calaba, finger resting on her lip in a motion to demand silence, winking as she noticed Melli’s gaze flicker on her form.
“Good afternoon Warden Melli. Ingo, I shall continue on and leave you with Melli, Lady Irida requires my help.” Calaba said with a firm voice, already walking away from the duo of men, visibly not wanting to hear an answer back.
“I see that Mistress Calaba has given you her late husband’s.. attire.” Melli tried to say after a second of silence, eyes landing once more on a very familiar type of attire clutched in the Warden’s hands.
‘Of course Calaba would do that’, Melli thought, eyes flickering back for a second to her retreating form.
“Yes! Lady Calaba was most gracious to gift me such an important attire for the Gathering! I shall wear it with pride.” Ingo happily replied, face far too neutral compared to his tone, in Melli’s honest opinion.
For what felt like the 50th time, he watched as the strange Warden looked out upon the vast land, as if searching for something… someone.
“Adaman has informed me that Lord Wyrdeer has already departed to fetch Y/N.” Melli decided to say, words startling Ingo, as if he’d already been lost in his own thoughts.
“A-Ah, yes? That is most welcome news, Lady Y/N will enjoy the festivities!” Ingo said after a moment, searching for his words. The simple act of hearing of your impending arrival caused the soft flames inside of Ingo’s body to burn brighter, thoughts wandering as he tried to imagine just how beautiful you would look.
.
..
.
You hadn’t realized just how fragile a healing leg could be until now.
You were quickly learning that singularly important fact as you rode atop Lord Wyrdeer’s back, each little bump sending a fiery hot pain up your faintly bruised limb, drawing another hiss from you.
Once again, the Pokemon Lord turned its head to the side, eyeing you to be sure you were alright.
“It’s alright, we can continue.” You smiled, petting its fur in what you hoped would be perceived as a sign to continue. The Lord huffed, continuing on, seeming to give you another side eye as if he knew you were lying.
You felt lucky to have your shiny Hisuian Zoroark following you. It walked slowly beside you, seeming as if in deep thought, and truthfully? It was. It could see just how stressed you were becoming with each step closer to arriving at your destination.
It had noticed the signs between you and the man with silver eyes, remembering how the sound of your heart had accelerated in the man’s presence and not to mention the scent that both your bodies had given off.
Furthermore, you had been the one to boldly ask for it to familiarize itself with your scents intermingled…
Then why did you now reek of such negative emotions if you were on your way to see the silver eyed man that made your heart race?
Your Zoroark didn’t like it, yellow eyes shifting back towards you, wondering if it could bring you joy instead. Silently, it watched as you winced once more, the culprit most likely being your injured limb as the Pokemon beside it continued to walk its quick pace.
Quickly did it shift into the father figure you loved, holding itself exactly like the man did when reading your new entries in the Pokédex. To its elated surprise, you gasped at the sight of it and laughed, congratulating it on a perfect recreation.
It continued, switching between various people it had seen you interact with. That old man you called Ginter, the woman named Cyllene, even going as far as transforming into Nurse Pesselle, pretending to chastise you about your knee, just like it had watched the pink-haired woman do.
It was only when it shifted into a certain Ginkgo merchant did your smile leave your face, unease settling in your soul.
Your heart began to race but not in a good way, rationality flying out the windows of your mind and yelling at you to escape as Volo turned to look at you once more.
Vaguely, in the far far recesses of your mind, your brain recognized just how incredible the extent of which your Pokemon could imitate the man was, Volo’s dead eyes staring back at you, hands reaching for you-
“NO!” You yelled out, almost falling off of the Noble Lord’s back as you tried to scramble away from Volo, scaring both Pokemon. Quickly did your Zoroark try to understand what had happened, guilt heavy on it’s mind as it realized the form it had taken had been the one to scare you so, the pungent nauseating scent of your fear staining the air around you. It could see the way you now shook, hands gripping at the Noble Pokemon beneath you with your eyes closed.
It hurriedly took the form of the being it knew you loved, remembering the man’s face clearly as if you still stood alongside him in Horseshoe Plains.
“Lady Y/N.”
You startled at the familiar sound, heart now racing for an entirely different reason as you were mentally brought back into time, remembering just how you had startled from your seat up upon the rock you had sat on.
‘Ingo’ stood before you, form relaxed and silent, yellow eyes watching you intently as you watched it back.
It was almost heartbreaking as realization hit you, the error of you previous actions catching up to you.
Your poor Zoroark had no clue what Volo could have possibly invoked in you.
You carefully descended from Lord Wyrdeer’s back and approached ‘Ingo’, smiling softly as your Pokemon whimpered, trying to communicate something with you.
“I'm sorry for how I reacted, Zoroark, it wasn’t you that scared me.” You cooed, hands moving and caressing its face and fur, the illusion of the man you loved quickly dissipating into thin air, leaving you to stare back at your Pokemon.
It required no words of apologies from you, its master, choosing instead to bury its face against your shoulder as you held it close, whispering words of praise at its amazing illusion skills.
.
..
.
Your heart slammed against your ribs as you neared the new settlement for both Clans, eyes flickering to and from the form you knew to be Ingo’s, not wanting to make this any more uncomfortable then it would already be. You couldn't help but imagine a dozen of outcomes this all could have, none of them including you under Ingo’s frame, thighs wrapped around his hips.
‘He didn’t come back because he wasn’t interested in you like that’, you mentally repeated to yourself, needy chills climbing up your spine as you instead tried to take in the beautiful view before you.
Different varying sizes of yurts and huts had already been built for the Gathering while more Diamond and Pearl clan members worked together in erecting more, children of both clans zipping around the vast area.
What seemed to be a large yurt lay against the ground farther away, more members of each clan chatting amongst eachother in what seemed to be a small argument on how to begin building it. Your staring must have caused the hairs on a woman’s neck to rise as seconds later, she curiously turned, wide eyes landing on your approaching form.
“Lady Y/N has arrived!!” She yelled out like a mother Pokemon alerting its young, dozens of heads following her line of view and landing on you, including Ingo’s searing gaze. You cursed silently at your lack of luck, a soft smile plastered against your lips as the woman waved to you in greeting. More Clan members filtered out of the yurts, joyful cheers erupting as Wyrdeer neared the settlement at a slower pace (which you silently thanked him for, whispering softly that you would bring him berries for his amazing work).
-
Gaeric had watched with interest as you approached before drifting his gaze towards his fellow Pearl Clan Warden, who had yet to fully see your beautiful form. He softly chuckled, remembering Irida’s bold request.
“Adaman has requested our aid in helping Y/N and Warden Ingo confess their feelings for one another.”
Oh, he was going to do way more then get only a confession out of his strange but kind Clan brother.
-
Ingo stood passively beside the now silent Melli as you continued to approach atop of the Pokemon Lord, waving back at the multiple Clans members who greeted you.
Oh, you were even more breathtaking then he had last seen you, your hair already up in a seemingly formal fashion. Ingo wondered perhaps if Zisu had helped you, or Cyllene.
As if by impulse alone, Ingo began making his way towards the crowd who now encircled you, hands burning with how they craved to help you down from atop the Noble Lord’s back and proclaim his love-
A dizzying sound of silence filled his ears as he watched Warden Gaeric rush to your side, smiling dazzlingly as he stared up at you.
“Y/N! Let my muscles help you down!” Gaeric said, Ingo’s sharp gray eyes also drifting up to you instead of the man waiting to be allowed to help you. You smiled widely, a laugh exiting your lips for-
For Gaeric.
Not for him, like he had seen you smile while meeting him at the Training Grounds so many times before, smiling at him while watching Zisu yelling at new recruits, no. You were smiling for Gaeric, hand gently moving to the man’s outstretched one, holding it as he began helping you down and off Lord Wyrdeer’s back. The blue haired Warden’s hand remained on your person, drifting slowly to the dip of your lower back.
A spark of jealousy ignited inside of Ingo as he watched Gaeric continue to help you instead of him, hand now firmly pressed to the middle of your back…
It also didn’t escape Ingo that this was now the second time he felt envious of Warden Gaeric, the first time being when Lady Irida had informed him all the weeks ago of your unfortunate incident.
A noise came from behind him, startling Ingo briefly before remembering that he had been speaking with Melli just moments ago. Oh how you scrambled his brain and thoughts, so much so that he had forgotten about the man’s presence.
“I.. heard that Lady Y/N has many suitors after her hand.” Ingo murmured to the tall man after a tense second, deflating considerably.
The faint optimism that had spread within him after his chat with Lady Calaba dwindled, causing him to wonder if he’d perhaps truly lost his chance to be yours by not returning to Jubilife Village after the rumor had begun. Hope that had burned so brightly sparked within his chest.
No matter how Ingo tried to hide it, Melli could hear the yearning in his voice, hear the absolute need in his tone as he regarded you from afar, hands flexing at his sides as if to restrain himself from running to you.
The news didn’t really surprise the tall Warden much; you were beautiful, smart, strong, and a courageous woman, only a fool wouldn’t want a woman such as yourself to be theirs.
But at the same time… it did surprise Melli. It was only a mere few months ago that practically half of the people of Hisui had heard of you, everyone weary and mistrustful of the strange woman fallen from a space rift in the sky. Including him.
When had you begun to receive offerings from suitors? Who was to accept or deny each one?
For what felt like the 51st time today already, Melli watched the Warden beside him, and decided to refrain from teasing or insulting the man.
“I was not aware. I wonder who Y/N will pick to be her husband.”
Both Warden’s silently watched your interaction with the muscular Warden; you smiled gratefully to Gaeric for his help, but Melli could see the touch of unease grace your visage.
It was only when Gaeric laid his hand on the small of your back to lead you to the women’s tents did you turn, usually brilliant bright eyes now searching behind you, head turned as far as you could go before disappearing entirely into the crowd.

[Another video, in much the same manner as the last three. It's set in the same room, given the quiet growling of a hostile Zoroark in the background, but the camera faces the opposite wall. Dawn holds a worn Pokeball belt with 7 old, old Pokeballs on it.
"Someone told me Akari has a Hisuian Zoroark... so I'm gonna find it, and hope it helps her. Everyone else is in their Pokeballs in case any of these guys don't like other Pokemon. Let's go."
She unclips one ball and tosses it into the air. Out comes a Sylveon, with dullish colors and a few battle scars. It looks at Dawn curiously, confusedly, before turning in a circle to survey the room. It stops, facing beyond the camera with a worried expression, and lets out an equally worried trill. A savage bark startles it, and Dawn quickly returns it to its ball before setting said ball aside.
Next up is a Honedge, which very quickly realizes the situation and starts trying to attack Dawn. She shrieks and hits it with its ball, containing its fury again.
After that is a Garchomp, which looks around the room, rather disgruntled. It looks at Dawn as if unimpressed, and bops her with the back of its claw, seeming surprised when nothing happens. It looks at the camera like in The Office, before possibly seeing Akari and jumping in some form of fright. A bright orange glow reflects off its scales before Dawn returns it and skitters away with the camera.
It cuts to a massive Sneasler staring down Dawn, arms crossed and posture faux-relaxed. Its claws twitch. It looks about ready to tear her up if she doesn't explain something. it gets returned with an exasperated flip of its feather and the start of a middle-finger(middle-claw?).
After Sneasler is Typhlosion, who's slumped, tired posture is stiff with worry. It keeps looking between the camera and Dawn, giving a single grunt after a minute like a question. Dawn sighs and takes off her beanie, running her hand tensely through her messy hair. It catches on a tangle, and Typhlosion is quick to get her free. Then it, too, goes back to its ball.
Dawn sighs, looking at the two balls left. She pulls her beanie back on and gives the camera a tired smile.
"Well, two left. What do you think, Retemei? You feel lucky?"
A Rotom responds in an excitable tone. Dawn closes her eyes and nods, smile wobbling.
The first Pokeball contains a Jolteon, which quickly zips off-camera and starts yipping at Akari. The camera quickly swivels as Dawn runs forward to return it before the readying Snarl hits.
It turns back as Dawn walks back to her spot, looking haunted. "I didn't think she'd attack her team," she mumbles. Her eyes are glossy. She blinks hard, resulting in a few tears falling, before holding up the last Pokeball.
"Well, seventh time's the charm..." She takes a deep breath, lets it out, and tosses the final ball into the air.
This Pokemon does not spawn next to her. Rather, it comes out behind the camera, given the blurry, static-like effect that starts taking over the visuals. Dawn's eyes widen, a shadow flicking across her hands as they go to her shoulders.
"Oh. ... hi." Her greeting squeaks out, a sound of fear as the vague brush of wind starts to be audible on the speakers, a growing rumble with it.
One of Dawn's hands spread and twitches in a tiny wave. "You're... you're the- th- Zoroark...?"
The sound of wind gets stronger, then fainter again, with the shattering of ice on ice. Dawn nods, looking scared for her life.
"cool, cool cool, uh- I don't- I-" She takes a deep breath and tries to sort her words. The entire top half of the video is covered by dark white, with the occasional wave of red pulsing through it. The sounds of sniffing can be heard below the suddenly intense whip and clatter of a hailstorm, and a quiet, strained squeal while Dawn stays absolutely still.
After a little bit, the dark white and red retreats, back behind the camera. The sounds of a storm fade away into the distance, to be replaced with a brief, mournful howl, and then nothing at all.
Dawn is trembling. The camera starts to turn, but she reaches out and stops it. "cool," she whispers again, barely able to use her voice. "Glad to... know you won't... attack me." Another sound, a drawn-out disgruntled growl that ends in a creak like an old door, fades in and out behind the camera. Dawn blinks, still for a moment, then shudders violently, one hand grabbing the locks of hair by her face.
"That was- Was that- You?" A shifting. Dawn nods, presumably back to the Zoroark. "okay. Okay. W-well. Well, Akari is..." She points beyond the camera. Shifting is heard again, then an alarmed and pained bark. She jumps, then grabs the camera and rushes off, turning off the video in the process.]

I’m waiting to clock into work rn and my brain has handed me yet another evil angst thought regarding Zoruark hero…
Imagine the mental struggle the rival would have to go through if they were put in a situation where Zoruark hero got severely injured trying to protect them but refuses to take any of the rival’s potions to heal and can barely move on their own, so now the rival is faced with the dilemma of having to decide if they risk running back to camp leaving the hero alone to get help or catching their ghostly friend so that they can bring them with them for medical help.
I don’t know why I’m having these ideas 5 minutes before my shift starts but oh well!😂
- Pierced Anon
Have this then! I was texting a friend and wrote this. Enjoy!
Angst!

With all the children asleep, you look towards the eldest warden who has Lian at his side. Ingo looks so content here.
You love him more than you’ll ever be able to say, but with how surveying goes you have to ask him. No matter how long you two have been together and married, you need to make sure of one thing.
“Ingo?”
“Yes my dear?”
“…if anything happens, you’ll take care of them, right?”
The silver haired man snaps his head to look at you, his matching eyes wide.
“Of course I will, but what kind of question is that?”
“My work is dangerous, and they like you…I just needed to hear you say it for my own peace of mind.”
“I promise you dear, nothing will happen, they are safe and so are you.”
You smile softly at him.
“Thank you, I love you.”
“I love you too. dearest.”
They last he saw you, you were smiling and playing tag with your kids.
The last he saw you, you were cuddling up to him, kissing him and whispering words of affection.
Ingo can only stare at your grave, holding your children as they scream and cry out for you.
He has to be strong, but the silent tears pouring down his face show how broken he is.
Ingo’s arms tighten around your three children, their anguished wails echoing in the wind.
You fought tooth and nail, he just knows you did. But it wasn’t enough.
You did all you could, only he got the true report. You had suffered, you felt everything.
Pokémon are ruthless.
But his rage towards the commander more so.
His kids are hurt because of another’s actions.
But right now they need their father more than ever.
-
Ingo is the first to meet Zoroark wife once more.
Since he’s mostly at Jubilife anymore he always visits your grave several times a day, he pledged his life to you, he loved you, hell he still does.
He started feeling eyes on him lately though.
It all comes to a head when a Pokémon gets the jump on him, most certainly ending his life right there, had a Zoroark not jumped to his defense.
Once the threat was gone, he thought he’d have to face said Zoroark, but it only lowers itself, almost cooing and checking him over for any injuries.
His Gliscor seems overjoyed to see the creature, but no Zoroark is ever in the highlands! When could his Pokémon ever meet one?
Then it was like you whispered to him.
He saw the familiarity in those large yellow eyes.
“Y/n?”
With ears perked up and and happy roar, he breaks.

Unit Viability Speculation - Summer N
Alright, first up on the datamine is Summer N, and I gotta say, thank god they went with a cool festival theme over the swimsuits.
Last month, which is technically this month, we got SS Ethan and SS Lyra, two units who pack the coveted Trap effect to bypass Cresselia’s setup phase, and make alternatives to teambuilding.  Then we got Bede, whose debuffs seem tailor made to stop Cresselia’s special-side buffs, even if he can’t handle the evasion.  Summer N is another in this ever-growing line.  It’s been pretty clear they’re on an Anti-Cresselia system right now, which is funny because it’s not even in the Gauntlet.
Summer N comes with Zoroark, and is a Dark Striker.  Fuck you, everyone on Reddit who insisted he’d be Tech, I finally get my due.  Night Daze has a 40% chance to lower accuracy, and he got Snarl, which does also get Satisfied Snarl 4 for a 50/50 to drop special attack again.  Nothing great, but also not too bad.  The real benefit is Supereffective Up Next on entry with easy three-turn setup, and another on sync.  As a Dark type that is also special, this makes him incredibly effective against Cresselia in particular.  I do feel his passives are somewhat wasted on this one skill, but such is life.
Devastation is his sync multiplier, so hope you got Bede to help set that one up.  Furious Brain is a nice move multiplier, easily set up.  Obscuring Power 3 and Obscuring Sync 5 are neat, focusing on accuracy debuffs building power as well.  Though admittedly, these are going to be really inconsistent.  Night Daze is only a -1, and with one On a Roll, you can get to like 64% per hit, but it’s slow going and there really aren’t many choices to help debuff accuracy.
As far as partners go, because his setup is three turns of flawless perfection, he doesn’t need anyone specific for buffs.  With a four-gauge move, he likely wants speed, and hysterically, Halloween Caitlin isn’t the worst pick.  The slight accuracy and +2 speed off her trainer move is ideal, while she also buffs both defenses.  Alternatively, anyone with just...reasonable bulk.  I’d also point out the joy of NY!Lillie.  N lowering accuracy while she boosts evasion is admittedly just really funny to me, especially since both of them have Queue Cutter.  I’d also point out Darkrai.  Darkrai’s Power Play needs a good debuff ally, and N’s not a terrible pick.  There’s definitely better, but they have great combined speed, and Darkrai can keep up pressure with Sleep, and set up Zone.  One thing I will note: while Bede is great for the debuffs, generally speaking, the Zone effect is stronger.  I tried the same kind of thing with Karen, and her damage was just outright better with Cyrus than Bede.  So keep that in mind.  For Gauntlet, he’ll be a pretty interesting pick.  Supereffective Up Next is a massive double edged sword.  Against Cresselia, he’ll do great, so long as he can hit.  But against everything else, he’s got strong base damage and the ability to lower accuracy, which is likely what you need to lean in to if he’s going to win.  He won’t be that good against Regirock, and likely can’t debuff enough to handle Latias either, at least not alone.  But provided you check the gimmick boxes, I think he’ll do okay against the rest.
On the whole, I like him.  Anyone with SS Cyrus already has the better unit, but he’s a very strong pick, and has great anti-Cresselia properties.  Not that we need that, apparently.  They really are scared...

i wrote a lil story (that ended up being a bit long) about what would happen if N met hisuian zorua and zoroark. also i wrote this before today's trailer so there's no mention of them literally just being dead zorua and zoroark
N tugs their coat closer to themselves. He still hasn’t quite gotten used to how cold Sinnoh is.
He’s exploring the summits of Mt. Coronet, footsteps crunching in the snow. It’s getting to be late evening, so he figures he should head back down, but he can’t get enough of the beautiful scenery and all the different wild Pokemon.
Zoroark sneezes behind them. “N, I’m cold. Can we go back to the city?”
He scratches him behind the ears. “Okay. I’m sorry.”
The two of them start their long trek down the mountain, when the air takes on a sudden stillness. The snow stops falling, snowflakes frozen in the air, and there’s no wind to ruffle the trees.
“What’s going on?” Zoroark asks. “Do you feel that?”
N pulls him closer, afraid of whatever could come. “I feel it too, buddy.”
The sky goes pitch black, then starts flashing all sorts of different colours.
N shields his eyes. He’d forgotten some kid had captured Dialga a couple years ago and regularly uses it in battles!
“Zoroark, we need to get out of here!” He starts running, Zoroark close behind.
“Why? What is it?”
“The God of Time is in the hands of a twelve-year-old! It’s using Roar of Time!”
Everything goes completely dark, causing the two of them to trip.
The darkness only lasted for about half a second, then everything went back to normal.
N laid in the snow, taking heavy breaths.
“Okay,” Zoroark got up, shaking snow out of his mane. “that could have been worse.”
N sat up. “Wait a minute. Look around!”
They were still in the same place as before, but things were a little different. The path they had been following was gone, and there were many more trees than before.
Snorunt were wandering around completely in the open, despite the fact N had to look for them in tiny alcoves and caves just minutes ago.
He crouched down in front of one of them, and it seemed quite startled by his presence. “Excuse me, do you know what just-”
“What are you??” it whispered, panicking. It ran off as fast as its little legs would carry it, the others following after it.
“Wait!” N stood.
Snorunt have always been timid, but they didn’t run away when N approached them.
“It’s like they’ve never seen a human,” Zoroark noted. He was exactly right.
“I don’t understand,” N sighed, leaning against a tree. “Why are all the Pokemon so afraid of me all of a sudden?”
A Starly landed on a tree branch nearby. “What's the matter, strange-looking Gardevoir?”
“What..? I’m not a- Oh, whatever.”
“N’s a human,” Zoroark said. “Hyoo-mun.”
Starly tilted its head. “What’s a hyoo-mun?”
N shook his head. “It’s not important. Look, I’m a little lost right now. Do you think you can tell me how to get to Hearthome City from here?”
“What’s a city?”
Zoroark smacked his forehead.
N patted him for moral support. “Starly, do you know where we are right now?”
“Mt. Coronet,” it said, flitting over to another branch. “You know, in Hisui.”
“Hisui????” N and Zoroark both exclaimed.
N had read about Hisui in the Canalave Library. Hisui is what the Sinnoh Region used to be called in ancient times. They changed the name to Sinnoh centuries ago, which meant…
“Zoroark! We time-travelled!”
“That’s a Zoroark?” Starly asked. “It looks weird. Well, whatever. Hope you find your way home, Gardevoir.” It flew off.
N couldn’t help but wonder why Starly would say Zoroark looked weird if it knew what a Zoroark looked like.
But what was more important was figuring out how in Arceus’ name they were going to get back to their own time. The two of them crouched down in the snow, trying to figure out a plan.
“Well, if we’re, like, a million years in the past, we could find Dialga who has yet to be captured by a child,” Zoroark suggested.
“I don’t know how to summon Dialga. We might have to wait until Dialga’s trainer realizes they sent someone to the past.”
Lord Arceus above, what if they never noticed?
Well, Dialga probably noticed. Probably.
N stood up. “Well, we should try to live in the present and not worry about the future.” He put on his fakest confident smile.
“But this is the past.”
“You know what I mean. My sisters always told me to stay positive in times of trouble!”
“I don’t think your sisters ever got transported into the ancient past.”
They bickered for a few more minutes, then decided to explore ancient Mt. Coronet. They came to a huge open snowy plain, which N assumed was Route 216, and the knee-deep snow was just as irritating as it was in the present.
“Let’s go up there!” Zoroark said, pointing at a hill leading into a forest.
N was about to protest, as it could be dangerous, but Zoroark had already run ahead.
N got to the top of the hill after Zoroark, lightly panting. “Zoroark, wait up. I don’t want you getting-” He accidentally kicked something as he walked, and seriously regretted looking down to see what it was.
It was a dead body, frostbitten fingers clutching a strange, camera-like device.
N screamed and fell back, nearly hitting his head on a nearby tree trunk.
“What happened?” Zoroark ran up to them, and saw the body too. “Whoa, holy-”
N will not be translating the rest of Zoroark’s sentence, as it was quite inappropriate.
Zoroark helped them up, and the two of them kept going, much to N’s dismay. The past shock aside, it really was beautiful out there. Everything was still and quiet, the stars were bright, and nobody was there but them.
Until…
“Mama? Where are you?”
N froze, unable to discern if the voice belonged to a Pokemon or an actual child. He swallowed. “Hello?”
“Mama?” A strangely familiar Pokemon came out from the trees, padding cautiously through the snow. It looked exactly like a Zorua, but its fur was a stark white and its red-tipped mane and tail floated up in wispy tendrils.
It was certainly no Zorua N had ever seen.
“A shiny? No, perhaps a regional variant!”
The Zorua looked up at N, fear tracing its features.
N crouched down and slowly held his hand out. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”
Zorua slowly and carefully approached to sniff his hand, then looked at N’s Zoroark, tilting its head. “You look like my Mama, but you’re different.”
“We’re not exactly from around here.”
“Are you lost?” N asked. “Would you like some help?”
Zorua gave a gentle nod. “Mama’s probably still in this forest, and she’ll be looking for me.”
“Then why don’t we help you look?”
It yipped in agreement, then smiled. “Thank you, strange creature and strange Zoroark.”
N picked it up, and its fur was eerily cold, yet still soft. It scrambled out of his arms and hopped into Zoroark’s mane.
“Mama’s fur isn’t this warm. It’s so cozy…”
“Don’t fall asleep,” Zoroark said, visibly annoyed. “You gotta keep an eye out for your mom.”
N looked around as they kept walking. He’d never seen a Sinnoh, or rather, Hisuian variant of either Zorua or Zoroark, so he wasn’t entirely sure what to look for.
Hours passed, and there was still no sign of anything.
That is, until they heard a low growl rumble through the area.
“Was that your mother, Zorua?” N asked, worried.
Zorua buried its face in Zoroark’s mane. “No… Mama’s not scary.”
“She might be scary to us,” Zoroark said.
The trees up ahead started to sway, and a couple fell over as an Abomasnow tore its way through the forest. Frankly, it looked furious.
Zoroark was quick to conjure up some illusions, but the Abomasnow did not falter.
“Zoroark, quick! Use Shadow Claw!”
He rushed at Abomasnow, Zorua still hiding in his fur, and slashed.
Abomasnow responded with a Hammer Arm, which sent both Zoroark and Zorua flying in opposite directions.
N ran to catch Zorua before it could hit the ground, the wind knocked out of them as he broke its fall. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine, but you got hurt!”
N struggled into a sitting position. It turned out hitting the rough, rocky ground with full force hurt a lot. “Don’t worry about me. I’d do anything for a Pokemon.”
Zoroark got up a few feet away, clearly injured but fully willing to fight anyways.
“Abomasnow, please stop attacking us!” N called. “We don’t want a fight.”
There was an anger in Abomasnow’s eyes, so strong it froze them in place. He’d never seen a Pokemon so angry.
Then, as it growled and roared, it occurred to N that he couldn’t understand what this Pokemon was saying.
Just as Zoroark was looking too weak to fight and Abomasnow was turning on N and Zorua, an odd black smoke wafted through the area. It writhed and coiled around Abomasnow, until it took the shape of a giant beast and charged at it, causing it to run away.
The smoke disappeared, but it appeared there was a bigger problem.
A Pokemon like Zoroark was approaching. Its fur was white and red, much like Zorua, and it had a wild mane draping over one of its eyes and emerging into nine tails. Its bright yellow eyes narrowed into a glare aimed right at N, who was still holding onto Zorua.
“Mama!” Zorua exclaimed. It wiggled out of N’s arms and ran to the Hisuian Zoroark.
Zoroark picked it up, examined it for injuries, then set it down. It growled and pointed a claw at N and Zoroark, the black smoke returning.
“Mama, no!” Zorua yipped. “They all helped me! That strange creature even caught me so I wouldn’t fall!”
Hisuian Zoroark lowered its arm. “If my child’s words are true, thank you for protecting it.” It came over and sniffed N’s Zoroark. “You… You look like us, but different. And you…” It turned to N. “You resemble that strange talking creature. Are you connected?”
“No, no,” N said quickly. “I’m just...a little lost.”
“I’ve seldom seen creatures like you. How can you understand my words?”
“Oh, I can actually understand Pokemon. I’ve been able to talk to them forever.” He gasped. “You’ve seen others like me?”
Hisuian Zoroark nodded. “Quite rarely. Where have you come from?”
“It’s…a really long story.”
“I see.” It huffed, then looked back at N’s Zoroark. “Your strange Zoroark is hurt, as are you. Return to our lair with us and we’ll help you.”
“Who’re you calling strange?” Zoroark growled. “You look pretty strange to me, too!”
Hisuian Zoroark narrowed its eyes. “You have quite the uncouth way of speaking. Come.”
They followed Hisuian Zoroark and Zorua through the trees, all while N’s Zoroark alternated between pouting and wincing with pain.
Eventually they came to a snow-capped cave, where the ground was covered in soft moss and there was a stash of berries in the corner. There were all sorts of claw marks on the walls, most likely marks of territory.
Hisuian Zoroark offered both N and his Zoroark an Oran berry. “Here. These will restore your strength a bit.”
“Thank you very much,” N said after biting into the berry. He nudged Zoroark, who gave a bitter, “Thanks.”
For a long time, they listened to Hisuian Zoroark’s stories of the past. Of wars, of fairy tales, even of Arceus.
N took note of what it said, as hearing stories from a Pokemon from the past seemed like a great way to learn about Sinnoh’s past. Apparently there were tons of Pokemon that looked different in Hisui, like Growlithe, and even familiar Pokemon like Braviary.
“And you’re saying Basculin evolves??”
Hisuian Zoroark raised an eyebrow. “You’re saying it doesn’t?”
N scribbled down a doodle of what Basculin’s evolution, Basculegion, looked like according to Zoroark’s description.
“Strange creature! Tell me about where you’re from!” Zorua yipped. It scrambled into its mother’s lap.
So, N went ahead and told them. He started by saying that Zorua and Zoroark looked a lot different where he was from, and described what a Braviary looked like.
“Braviary doesn’t have as many feathers? It must be so cold!” Zorua shivered just thinking about it.
“It’s a lot warmer in Unova,” N’s Zoroark said.
Hisuian Zoroark narrowed its eyes. “What concerns me more is that you said you’re from the future. How is this possible?”
N’s Zoroark took to explaining. “It was suuuuuuuper weird! Like, the sky started flashing, and then-”
The sky outside started to flash.
“-Kinda like that.”
Hisuian Zoroark was quick to tuck Zorua under its arm and look up at the sky. “What on earth is going on?”
“Roar of Time!” N exclaimed. He quickly wrapped both of them in a hug, much to Hisuian Zoroark’s dismay. “I’m sorry. I think I’m going back to my own time now, thank you so much for being kind and telling stories. I wish I could hear them for longer.”
The two of them blinked at his rushed farewell.
“Yeah,” N’s Zoroark scoffed. “Sinnoh, Hisuian, whatever. Zoroark, you’re pretty cool, even though you’re a little weird.”
Hisuian Zoroark rolled its eyes. “You are fairly cool as well, uncouth Zoroark.”
“Are you going away, strange creature?” Zorua asked, looking sad.
N gave it a little pat. “Yes, but I won’t ever forget you, and I know you’ll grow up big and strong just like your mother.”
Hisuian Zoroark patted its child as it looked like it was about to cry.
“Will we see each other again?”
N smiled, running his hand through the little one’s fur. “I really wish we could.”
Just then, the world went dark.
It only feels like N had blinked, and he and Zoroark are still in that same cave, though the berries, and most notably, Hisuian Zoroark and Zorua are gone.
N’s hand is still out in front of them, and he swears he can still feel the soft fur.
“Are we back in our own time?” Zoroark asks.
“Yes, I think we are.” He runs his hand along the faded claw marks on the cave walls, the only sign of Hisuian Zoroark and Zorua that remains.

Lose You to Love Me
*One Year Ago*
Five challengers…
You had five challengers today and that last one almost got you. Pure exhaustion is the only thing your body processes at the moment. Your team is exhausted and you are beginning to wonder if you asked too much of them today.
You couldn’t relinquish your title though… Not yet…
Kukui walks into the locker room with his usual smile and excited greeting.
“That was amazing! You were insane out there!” He praises and you preen under his words.
“Thanks, Kukui! That last one almost had me…”
“Nah! I knew you wouldn’t lose, that’s why you’re the champion!” he walks up to you and puts his hands on your shoulders giving them a gentle rub.
“You’re really tense though… Maybe you need a spa day or something?”
“Yeah, I think that would be good for me and my team.”
He nods, “I’ll set one up for you! I can’t have my champion getting burnt out!”
In your head, you heard something else entirely. That had been happening a lot lately, you wish he would refer to you as his. You want more from him than just friendship and the immense guilt that comes with those thoughts. You adore him, but you know he’s married. Happily married. Also, his wife is awesome and she’s a friend of yours. Which only amplifies your feelings of guilt.
“Want to grab dinner? Burnet is staying at the lab tonight. We could get sushi?”
And then he does that…
“Yeah, let’s get dinner! I’m starving!” you readily agree.
How can you say no to him?
“Great! Get cleaned up and then we’ll head out! We’ll go to our favorite place, yeah?”
“Yeah…”
It’s not even anything big that you miss, it’s the little moments like sushi with your best friend, that you had fallen in love with, that you miss the most. You roll over onto your side and heave a sigh gazing at the red numbers of the cheap alarm clock. It’s not even 11 O’clock and you can’t sleep. You tap Rotom to wake him up and apologize as he buzzes sleepily to life.
“Call Ku-” you stop yourself short, you can’t call him anymore.
“Call Raihan.”
“Hello?” questions a sleepy Raihan, “Evrthin’ okay?”
“I woke you didn’t I?”
“S’okay….”
“I can’t sleep…”
“What’s wrong?” His voice sounds clearer as he begins to shake the sleep off.
“You want to get a pizza?”
“Are you inviting me over?”
“...yes…” you murmur hesitantly, unsure of what you want from him exactly.
“I want meat lovers and I’ll be there in about 20 minutes.”
You smile to yourself as you pull up the pizza app and place your order for two pizzas. You aren’t surprised when Raihan shows up at your door with the pizzas in hand.
“He was in the lobby so I just thought I would grab them for us.”
“Thanks… for coming… for everything…”
“No problem! Now, what do you want to do.”
You love that he doesn’t ask what is wrong. That he’s ignoring the way your eyes are a little puffy from crying earlier. That he doesn’t ask questions that you don’t want to answer. He is just here.
The two of you walk over to the little sitting area in the suite you are in and flip through the new releases. You both eventually settle on a comedy and you don’t really think about it as you rest your head on his shoulder as he drapes his arm around you. You don’t think about the way you curl into his side and you don’t think about how peaceful it is to just sit next to him and laugh at the absurd movie playing before you. You don’t think about the entire pizza the two of you devour each. You don’t think about anything at all except how nice it is that he’s beside you.
You feel peace for the first time in a long time.
You wake up the next morning to the sound of a phone ringing. You glance up at Raihan as he stirs and you both blink into the early morning sun shining through the curtains.
“Hello?” Raihan’s voice is gruff with sleep and you suppress a shiver as you bury your face into his neck. You try to convince yourself it’s from cold and not the way his voice sounds coated in sleep. The arm that is already around you gives you a squeeze and you glance up at him.
“Yeah… Umm…. I’m with (Y/N)...”
“What?! What do you mean you’re with (Y/N)?” You hear Leon say through the receiver.
“She called me last night and asked me to come over so I did. We fell asleep while watching a movie.”
“Okay…”
You pull the phone from Raihan and hold it up to your ear, “What time are you coming? Do you think you can bring Raihan a change of clothes and his toiletries?”
“Umm… yeah… I can… do that… What is happening?” Leon asks in confusion.
“Nothing is happening Leon, we just had a movie night.”
“Okay…”
“Don’t say that like you don’t believe me,” you grumble to the man on the other end.
“Yes, ma’am!” Leon says somewhere between jokingly and seriously. You aren’t quite sure where he lands, you don’t think he knows either.
You untangle yourself from Raihan and stretch before you head into the separate bedroom.
“Once I’m done showering you want to go?!” You yell from the bedroom.
“Sure! You want breakfast? Coffee?”
“Yes to it alllll! Could you get me oatmeal though? That pizza isn’t as good of an idea this morning.”
You hear him laugh, “You got it, my queen! Anything else?”
You smile to yourself at the nickname, or is this a pet name? You aren’t sure at the moment.
“Nope, I’m good!! Just hurry back! We have to catch a Dreepy today!!” You exclaim all traces of last night washed away in the morning light.
“Of course, we have to find you a couple of new powerhouses today.”
You giggle at the thought. “I really need to let Cerberus and Luna out for a run today too. Joker too…” you muse aloud to yourself as you pick out your outfit for the day. You can’t help but wonder if Raihan would like it.
Pulling on a pair of fitted black jeans and a deep blue top, you grab your belt and head out into the living area where Leon and Raihan are whispering among one another.
“Are you keeping secrets from me?” You ask with a smirk making the duo jump in surprise.
“Nope! Just guy stuff!” Leon answers his hand rubbing the back of his neck self consciously.
“Okay…” you murmur before addressing Raihan, “The shower is all yours.”
“Thanks!” He says with a smirk as he passes you on his way to the bathroom.
You fix Leon with your gaze and notice the way he swallows subtly. He just might be intimidated by you, this could be fun.
“So what were you two talking about?” You ask as you make your way over to the table and pick up the oatmeal and latte Raihan picked up for you.
“Nothing… you know just… stuff…”
“Ummm hmm…” you hum as you hold his gaze bringing the coffee to your lips and taking a sip. Your favorite drink swirling on your tongue. The first few times Raihan brought you coffee was a generic order, but this is your order. You blink in surprise as you gaze down at the cup in your hands.
“You look surprised,” Leon says a sly smirk sliding onto his face.
“It’s my order…” you say as you regard it with surprise.
“Raihan is pretty perceptive if he cares about someone he likes to show them.”
“Cares about them?”
“Yep, he really likes you, just remember that when you call him late at night…”
“What are you implying Leon?” You ask with an edge to your voice.
“Nothing,” he says as he holds his hands up in surrender.
“I’m not using Raihan if that’s what you're worried about.”
“I didn’t say it was, I didn’t mean to offend you.”
“Perhaps think about your implications than before you voice them.”
“Why did you call him last night?”
You pause for a moment as you gaze into your food in thought.
“Do the thoughts in your head ever get so loud that the only way to quiet them is to pull yourself from your head and into reality?”
“...Yeah…”
“Things got too loud with my past last night and Raihan’s been really sweet about things so I figured...maybe… just him being there would make me feel better… and it did. It’s been so long since I haven’t had to hide myself or feelings from people and it’s just nice. He’s a great person and I really like just hanging out with him.”
Leon blinks at you in surprise.
“I see… I really didn’t mean-”
“It’s fine, you were looking out for your friend,” you say dismissively as you take a bite of your breakfast.
The silence that settles over the two of you is heavy as you check the news. You know you will be able to release your team for some much-needed training today, they aren’t used to being this inactive. Once Raihan has finished his shower you all head out into the Wild Area. The minute you step onto the grass you release your team.
Havoc your Garchomp, Ember your Ninetails, Aurora your Aloan Ninetails, Joker your Zoroark, Cerberus your Houndoom, and Lunatik your Midnight Lycanroc are all excited to be out and about. Both guys release their respective teams and you watch in amusement as they race around or play fight. You all leisurely make your away towards the Lake of Outrage.
You are surprised when a storm begins to brew out of nowhere and suddenly you are caught in the rain. Cerberus and Ember are especially displeased with the water and demand to be put back in their homes with Aurora following along quickly behind. The change in weather doesn’t seem to bother Havoc, Joker or Lunatik as the three of them rush ahead of you all only to run back a few moments later.
“This is perfect!” yells Raihan.
“Perfect?!” you yep back holding the hood of your jacket over your head against the wind.
“Yeah, the perfect storm for a Toxel…”
You smile as you rush towards the tall grass and begin to look around, it isn’t long until you stumble across several of the little guys all pouting about. You squeal as you take out your poke’balls and throw a few at the surprised baby pokemon. You check the stats to find out the information after deeming them acceptable you send them to your box.
“Why did you catch three of them?” questions Leon as he comes up behind you.
“I’m going to send one Hau to congratulate him on being the new champion.”
“You’re pretty close to the kid aren’t you?” Raihan asks.
“I’ve known him for several years and I have trained him on many occasions.”
“Did you train him to take your place?” Raihan asks.
“Smart boy,” you say with a smirk as you glance behind you.
“So you knew you didn’t want to be champion anymore?” Leon throws the questions over his shoulder from the lead.
“I did. There was a point last year where I knew I needed to start grooming my successor and I chose Hau. I don’t know that he ever really caught on until he beat me in that official match. It’s hero worship you know? You always feel that those you look up to will always be better than you.”
“Yeah... well... you’re still the queen in my book,” Raihan says with a wink as he glances over his shoulder at you. His canine winking at you with his smirk.
“Thanks, Raihan… The question is: when are you going to ask for that battle you’ve been itching for?”
“How do you know I’ve been itching to battle you?”
“I’ve seen the way you look at Havoc. You want to battle him so badly.”
He laughs, “You caught me! I do want to battle you! Maybe when you’re settled we can go to the ring? Make an event of it?”
“You want your crushing defeat on national television? I can roll with that…”
He barks another laugh, “I may not be so easy to beat…”
“You’re cute when you’re optimistic… I bet you’re downright adorable when you’ve been defeated…”
“I know this is technically supposed to be trash talk but you just called me cute and I’m going to leave it right there. Small victories you know?”
You threw your head back and laughed at him right as a large lake comes into view. You aren’t surprised when a Gyarados pops up out of the water and roars before diving back under. You feel the adrenaline kick up and you love it.
“This is crazy!” you yell as you peddle on the water bike racing the guys to the other side. Once there you look around at the pokemon in the area and you squeal in excitement. Several types are wandering around that you have never seen before. Quickly you begin to poke around the area with the boys following close behind you. Raihan is leaning against the wall as he watches you hang out in the tall grass. You are very still as you take in the pokemon and the new surroundings. You spend the next few hours asking Leon and Raihan about the pokemon that you come across that you don’t recognize. That is until you see a Dreepy floating close to a nearby rock peeking out at its surroundings.
Cautiously you creep up on the baby dragon and giggle before you engage it with a pokemon suited for catching it. It isn’t long until you’ve worn it down enough to capture it.
Pleased with the two baby pokemon you’ve caught today you all decide to continue your trip to Hammerlocke. You head back to the lake and hop onto the bike before you head across the lake. Gazing into the blue sky you feel that new feeling of peace that you are slowly getting familiar with. You aren’t prepared when out of nowhere a Gyrados leaps from the water right below you and sends you under in a matter of seconds. You are disoriented and you aren’t sure which way is up as you tumble about below the currents and the sea snake circles you. You can feel your chest tighten as what little air you have is slowly depleted. Vaguely you are aware of the Gyrados getting closer to you until an attack hits the water and it rears back before rushing towards what you assume is the surface. A blinding light catches your attention in the water and you notice floating beside you is Joker your Zoroark. He quickly grasps your hand before he makes his way to the surface.
The moment you break the surface of the water you inhale the biggest breath of air of your life. You are dazed and disoriented as you notice Raihan’s Flygon battling the Gyrados as the trainer himself rushes towards you on this bike. You see pieces of your own floating in the water near you, but you brush them away as Raihan hauls you onto this bike. His arms wrap instantly around you before he checks for injuries.
“Are you okay?!” he asks as he hugs you to him once more satisfied you aren’t in any imminent danger.
“I am…” you wheeze out.
“Are you sure?”
“Not really… I’ve had many life or death situations on my travels but this was the best yet…” You lean against Raihan in an attempt to rest and before you really know what happens, your already foggy brain shuts down and you pass out in his arms.
Notes: So sorry for the delay in stories! I’ve finally found my stride again and I’m feeling better about life. Thank you so much for checking on me and the well wishes for my kitty baby! If I didn’t answer it’s because I had a lot going on for a while that I needed to deal with, but you all made me smile nonetheless! Please comment or send me a message to let me know your thoughts!

Reunited (Yandere N Harmonia x Reader)
Tumblr media
(The image above is from a pokemon valentines event btw not my art. Sorry if my writing sucks :/ The story is also on quotev too and if anyone wants me to post the Yandere akira one too then send me an ask in the ask box please)
“I’m finally coming home…” looking down at the mass of land underneath you as a couple of clouds blocked your vision. You have arrived back home in your own region, Unova. Petting the side of Reshiram’s white feathers, you ponder on where you should land. You thought about paying a visit to your mother in Nuvema town, but it was still a bit far away.
Looking down, you notice how some things have changed since you last visited. From what you’ve heard, your child friends had built a new life for themselves. Cheren became the new first gym leader to challenge the new youth and Bianca is an assistant for professor Juniper. You haven’t been able to hear from them much since they’ve gotten busy, but you still consider them your best friends even after your journey finished.
While reminiscing about your adventures, your hold on Reshiram’s feathers tightens. Prompting the legendary to look at you.
“Ah sorry Reshiram…I was just thinking about my friends…”
You watch as the white dragon breathes out a small breath of fire as if it’s exhaling at your lie. The legendary could clearly tell that you’re upset, but it turns back to looking forward once again. You sigh as you loosen your grip on Reshiram’s feathers and gently pet the area. Sometimes you end up tugging too tightly on its feathers, causing it to grow agitated but it never scolds you for it. For it knows the reason why you’ve been so somber lately.
After your last battle with N. The green haired boy disappeared with Zekrom. You searched all around Unova to find him afterwards and even heard about how some people spotted a giant black dragon flying in the sky. But you could never find him. You even took a journey to a far away regions in hope of finding N, but after two years. You couldn’t find him.
So here you are, finally coming back to your home region.
In the distance, the silhouette of a tower comes into view. Squinting your eyes to try and make out the building. A small smile makes it’s way upon your lips.
Dragonspiral tower, the place where you caught Reshiram and also a place you used to visit quite often. Reshiram flies over to the top of the tower, flapping its wings as it slowly lands on top of the old stone floor. You hop off from Reshiram’s back and throw your arms into the air. Holding your posture, you stretch your body to get rid of the stiffness you felt from sitting for so long. Dropping your hands down, you put your hands on top of your hips.
Taking a look around, the dreary atmosphere makes you feel a bit unsettled. Crumbled white columns and stray debris scattered about isn’t the most comforting, but you’re fond of the tower for something else.
Here, you ventured through the tower along with your pokemon against team plasma. When you reached the top, you witnessed N awaken Zekrom. Then you caught Reshiram at the top of the very same tower. Being here, you could recall one of the memories you had of N. You feel a nudge from the white legendary as it pushes at your back.
You smile and take a hold of its head and pet it gently. It sits down and rest its head on the floor. Sitting yourself down next to it. You lay back against it and doze off.
The sound of shuffling awakens you. Your eyes flutter open, but you’re soon surprised by the image of N’s face close to yours. You freeze in place as you watch him bring up a pale hand to your face. Brushing his fingers against your cheek, you look in awe at him.
Is it really him? The person you’ve been searching for all these years is now finally back? No words seem to make it out of your mouth. What should you even say when you’re so caught off guard?
N smiles at you as he leans in closer to look at you. His green eyes staring intently at yours. His hand lingers on your cheek, but it’s soon pinched. You snap out of your trance and your brows scrunch together.
“Wha-”
A light snicker comes from him. He steps back and flips up into the air. Your eyes widen as you watch the illusion before you fade. His light green fluff of hair grows as it becomes spikier and the green fading away into red and black.
“A zoroark!?” you stumble back into Reshiram, causing the legendary to wake up.
The wild pokemon lands onto its clawed feet, it turns to look at you once again. Its eyes narrow as a grin makes its way across it’s face.
It quickly rushes off and jumps off from the tower, leaving you dumbfounded with the now awake legendary. Taking a second to process what just happened, you snap out of it.
“Reshiram let’s go!” the legendary roars. It leans down as you climb onto its back. It flaps its wings and jumps off the tower, diving down with you clinging closely to its body. You can see the Zoroark look back up at you and it smiles. It lands safely against the floor, but changes into a different pokemon and runs off into the thick forest.
It’s still bright out so you tell Reshiram to follow it. The lengendary’s form shadows over the pokemon as it glides above the trees. Through the leaves, you can still track it. You can’t afford to take your eyes off of it.
The both of you follow the pokemon until it stops in an open clearing. You don’t recognize the area, but it makes you pause. Wild pokemon play happily in the open field surrounded by various wild flowers ranging in color. You can see a group of deerling run around happily and a couple Sawsbuck watching them nearby.
A gust of wind passes through and cottonee and whimsicott drift past you. A sweet scent makes its way to you and you see a pink mist emit from a lilligant dancing around with a couple of other pokemon.
In the distance, you can see the zoroark morph into N again. It raises its hands and waves, but to whom? It’s facing away from you and Reshiram but before you could see whoever comes out. Reshiram suddenly stops and the two of you begin to fall.
Adrenaline rushes through you as you try to keep calm, “Reshiram what happened?!” but the pokemon doesn’t budge. You lose your grip and fall off from the legenday. It’s eyes closed, you call out for it to wake up again. But it’s no use.
Reaching into your pocket. You swiftly pull out its pokeball and call it back. A red light surrounds it as it shrinks and goes back into the ball.
You stuff the ball into your back and shut your eyes. Your only pokemon you have that can fly at the moment is Reshiram and even if you did somehow have a way to stop the fall you don’t have enough time to look through your bag to pull out the right pokemon.
You close your eyes shut as you brace for impact. At least your pokemon are safe…but you aren’t sure if you’ll be able to see them again once you reach the ground.
“Sigilyph, whirlwind!”
A gust of wind circles around you as you’re falling stops. You’re lowered to the grass below. When your foot reaches the ground the wind stops and you fall to your knees. You try to catch your breath as you try to remain calm. You were going to scream, but the event had taken you by surprise making you now feel the fear course through you.
hearing someone get closer to you, you look up to see A darmanitan and the Zoroark that shifted into N from before you fell. The two look at each other and nod.
“Wha… what happened?” you say as you look up at them, you hear something else make its way towards you. But before you can see them, you hear someone murmur a command. Your eyes start to feel heavy, a yawn escapes from your mouth as you try to stay awake. Your arms feel weak causing you to fall onto the soft grass.
“Wait…do you know where…where I can find him?”
———————————-
As N watches peacefully rest. He smiles as he brushes as stray hair away from your face. Ah, it’s been so long since he last saw you. After your final battle, he left to find another way to make his ideals come to fruition. But as he traveled with Zekrom and spent time away from humans. A strange emptiness within him began to grow.
While he was surrounded by the kindness of Pokemon. His interactions with humans lessened with him leaving team plasma and his father being arrested. He was truly free from his old life and while he had ended liberated by you, he had no where to go.
He thought he could find another way to liberate Pokemon without hurting humans, but the feeling of longing made his vision become unclear. Wasn’t just being around Pokemon enough or did he just wish to return to team Plasma? But after seeing that some members had chosen to be passive about it and had gone into hiding, the feeling was still there.
For a while he tried to ignore the feeling by occupying himself by going to different regions to meet different Pokemon. But whenever he tried to act like he was happy it was no use. For the Pokemon he befriended would nudge him to go back to Unova. He wasn’t sure on why, but after recently coming back to Unova. His frisky Zoroark would leave without notice.
He trusts all Pokemon and he always let his Pokemon have the option to leave, but it was a bit strange that the dark type Pokemon had developed the habit of disguising itself as him. Oh but the wonderful surprise that his friends gave him today was so exhilarating.
First, they lead him to an open field deep within the forest that had various Pokemon that lived in the area. He was able to laugh and interact with each and every one just like how he used to as a child.
It was fun and it took his mind off of the foreign feeling, but when Zekrom started to act strangely. He could tell something was coming for how the legendary would stare off towards the same direction.
But he never thought that he would be rushed out to see you again. He couldn’t understand it but once he saw you, he asked a nearby group of Petilil to use sleep powder on the legendary. Which caused it to stop and fall towards the ground. He then had to command his Sigilyph to use whirlwind to cushion your fall to keep you safe.
While the sleep powder didn’t hit you directly, some of it had gotten onto you which made you fall asleep after reaching the ground. He didn’t mind though, it was perfect.
Now, he’s able to watch you rest peacefully by his side. No conflict and being here with you put him as ease. The feelings that pestered him so vanished like thin air when you’re with him and now he understood what those feelings are: it’s love.
He didn’t notice it before but the feeling had blossomed whenever he would see you. In Accumula Town, in front of Nacrene gym, and on the ferris wheel in Nimbasa City. With every meeting, he wanted always anticipated for you to come and he thought of you as some type of rival. But as time went on he realized that you, you’re someone special. Someone who has a strong bond with their Pokemon and is able to understand them without needing to speak to them. He couldn’t believe it before, but after his final fight with you. He missed you terribly so.
Whenever he was riding on Zekrom’s back, he would look down as if he was searching for you. Whenever someone that looked remotely similar to you passed by, he would take a second glance every time to see if it was truly you. At night he had dreamt of you and woke up in the morning to feel emptiness in his heart. He had thought that maybe he was growing paranoid but his friends knew what it really was. Pokemon truly understand more than he ever could.
Raising his hand up to his mouth, N chuckles to himself as he can’t help but find you cute like a sleeping Munna.
“I know you can’t hear me now, but I’ve been wanting to tell you this (Y/N)…” N takes out a one of his golden square bracelets from his left wrist. Slipping the object around around your own, “I love you, (Y/N)… I thought I could be happy seeing Pokemon liberated from being used as tools, but now I’m selfishly wanting more. I want you to be there by my side…I want only you with me and the thought of being away from you again pains me to think of it. You tore away the world’s black and white visage that I had when I was king of team plasma, and I can’t help but wish for you to  stay by my side so I won’t ever lose my way again…”
Leaning down towards you, he tenderly brushes the back of his hand against your soft skin. After two long years he’s reunited with you once again and this time. He doesn’t plan on leaving or letting you go.

Ranking All Pokemon Rivals
[[Rankings based on personal experiences, rival aesthetics, and where they rank on both the best friend scale and the douchebag scale--and yes, in my book, these are separate scales.]]
Tumblr media
Blue/Green-- The OG douchebag. The only rival to ever make it to Champion seat, which makes the final battle all the more memorable. Very balanced team and good tough opponent, but not a lot of growth. 9/10
Tumblr media
Silver-- Douchebag 2.0. Angsty backstory, clearly listened to too much MCR growing up. Very good ambitions and character growth throughout the games, but not very balanced team, nor does he make it to the Champion seat. 8/10
Tumblr media
Brendan/May-- The start of the ‘best friend’ rivals. Has a crush on you (maybe?) which just makes beating them down all the time all the more awkward. Are extremely upbeat, but also can pop out from literally anywhere. 6/10
Tumblr media
Wally-- The softest cinnamon roll, too sweet and pure for this world. Literally impossible to hate this good, good boy who will pop out when you least expect him and throw his Gardevoir right in your face. 11/10
Tumblr media
Barry-- The perfect rival. A perfect balance of best friend who’s constantly teasing and boosting you up, and crazy douchebag that pops in out of nowhere, slams into you at full sprint, and bets 1,000,000 Pokeyen he’ll beat you. 10/10
Tumblr media
Bianca-- Sweet girl, but very bad rival. Tries very hard, but just not very good at what she’s doing. Do like, though, how she ends up becoming Professor Juniper’s assistant, though. That’s cool. 6/10
Tumblr media
Cheren-- Better than Bianca, that much is for certain. Not much personality, though, and not too memorable in terms of fights. Decides to become a Normal type Gym Leader for some reason. 7/10
Tumblr media
N-- Another excellent rival. A bit edgy, but also very kind. Unpredictable as all hell. Signature Pokemon is Zoroark, but you never get to see him use it until your last battle with him. Essentially Silver, but better. 10/10
Tumblr media
Hugh-- Silver, but worse. Listened to waaay too much P!AtD, MCR, and Linkin Park growing up. Sad backstory, but little pay off for it. Unbalanced team, and always seems to oscillate wildly between close friend and rival that has better things to do. 4/10
Tumblr media
Serena-- Honestly? Kinda boring. Definitely the toughest of the X/Y rivals, but too kind and friendly to even be taken seriously. Not a whole lot of personality to latch onto. 4/10
Tumblr media
Shauna-- A cutie and a sweetheart. Not the strongest, but she’s clearly trying her best. Sort of the same situation as with Bianca, but less annoying. Also, the fireworks scene at the Parfume Palace is always sweet. 7/10
Tumblr media
Tierno-- What even was this guy’s purpose again? He’s always dancing and rapping (at least I think he was rapping...) and getting on my nerves. 3/10
Tumblr media
Trevor-- Also unsure of what his purpose was, but he’s more endearing than Tierno was to me. I guess I really latched onto how shy and awkward he was, because I, too, was a shy and awkward child once. 5/10
Tumblr media
Hau-- About as far as you can get from a serious rival, yet is still super endearing and lovable. All he wants to do is live life to the fullest, whether that’s eating malasadas all day or traveling with you all across the region. Literally, you can’t hate this laid back lovable dork. 10/10
Tumblr media
Trace-- This is not a rival. This is a child. 0/10

Pokémon: The World Where Ghetsis Won
Oneshot about the alternate reality where Ghetsis was victorious over Unova in his first attempt. Based on his Rainbow Rocket persona as seen in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Warnings: Violence
Notes: Based on my version of Hilbert as presented in my novelization of Pokemon Black (Tumblr, AO3, FFN)
Find it on AO3 and FFN
---------------------------------------------------
Hil clutched the stone tightly against his chest. It emanated a soft, yellow glow from its smooth, silvery-white surface that warmed his fingertips to the touch. Yet, with the warmth came a cold feeling of dread that crept through his veins and slowly turned them to ice. His hands began to shiver. He overlooked a lake with round, wide brown eyes. Noodle, his trusty Servine, nuzzled his hand and tilted his head. His red eyes were upturned in concern. Hil took one look at him and then hugged his knees close to his face. His hand that held the stone fell limp at his right side.
“I can’t do it, Noodle,” he blubbered to him through the fabric of his pants. “I’m not strong enough. I’m no h-hero.”
Noodle nosed his way between Hil’s chest and his thights. Hil left go of his legs a little to give the Servine more room. As Noodle curled up in his lap, Hil’s eyes watered something fierce and he slowly let go of the Light Stone in his right hand, turning his attention instead to the Pokémon curled up in his lap. Noodle’s comfort was warm and welcome; it tore him from the dark, sinister reality that he would have to face Team Plasma’s leader, N, alone, as a hero of Unova. He hugged Noodle tighter and tighter, feeling the cool touch of his leafy body against his own.
Then he felt his right hand brush the Light Stone to his right, and he watched in horror as it started to roll, away toward the lake, and then plopped into its depths. In a blind panic, he shoved Noodle out of his lap and staggered over to the shore, plunging his head into the bitterly cold water. A Basculin then rushed at his face and caused him to jump away from the water. He had been upset, but he had intended to at least give fighting N a try! Had he really lost the Light Stone in such a stupid way?
Noodle dove at the water and shot several volleys of Razor Leaf attacks below the water, but it was no match for the swarm of Basculin that soon began to nibble at its leafy body. He hobbled back out of the water with chunks of flesh missing from his tail and his upper back. He looked up at Hil apologetically and Hil scooped him up, holding him tightly again. “No, no, Noodle,” he whispered, “it’s okay. This is not your fault at all. I shouldn’t have ever come here, I should have gone straight to the League, and…” he gave a shuddery breath. “It’ll be okay… It’ll be okay…”
He pulled his Xtransceiver free from his other pocket and frantically dialed for Cheren, Bianca, and Professor Juniper. He was going to need all the help he could get.
 ------------------------------
The castle was far too quiet. The sprawling room in front of him was eerily empty save for the gentle trickling sounds of water from the pools below the main floor and from the occasional shuffling of feet that came from the small group of grunts gathered, as well as the three Sages, Ghetsis, Bronius, and Giallo. Disappointed, N had to admit he had hoped for better than this. He had hoped somebody, anybody, would have showed up to the castle and try to stop him. Someone to show him that there was another way. As he shifted in the throne overlooking the castle, Zekrom standing proudly at his side, his mind wandered. He thought of the many Pokémon he had met along the way of his recent excursions into Unova’s heartland who enjoyed their trainers’ company and as he had told Hil back in Mistralton, it did break his heart somewhat that he would have to separate Pokémon from trainers who were good friends to their Pokémon.
So, he had hoped Cheren, or anyone, really, would have arrived to prove him wrong. But if nobody could even reach the throne room of the castle, then nobody had the convictions to prove him wrong. It was a sad but not unexpected realization. He knew what he had to do was right, however solemn it made him feel.
The sound of staggering, shuffling footsteps pulled him from his thoughts. He and Zekrom turned their heads slightly to look at the approaching figure. A man cloaked in violet and gold robes, a gleaming, angular red monocle, a lame arm; this was N’s adoptive father, Ghetsis. His failing body was a dastardly disguise. N could speak from experience Ghetsis was many things, but frail was not something one could even fantasize about describing him as. “Our Lord N,” Ghetsis said sharply, “it seems your chosen hero will not make it.”
“It would seem nobody has the conviction necessary to oppose me,” N said in melancholy agreement as he nodded. “I knew there had been a probability, a chance, of that happening. I had just hoped somebody would…”
Even from his throne high above the main floor, N could see Ghetsis’ lip twitch. “You are to give your inaugural speech now,” Ghetsis said calmly. “Our scientists have assumed control over all of Unova’s television stations. Today, Lord N, you set Pokémon free of their suffering by telling all of Unova to release them.”
N raised his chin and narrowed his eyes with noble determination. “Yes, Father,” he said softly as he rose from his throne. Although N’s attention had been drawn elsewhere and so he did not notice, upon being called ‘Father,’ Ghetsis’s lips twisted into a horrible, lopsided grimace thanks to his partially paralyzed face. The elderly man’s body shivered in an anger none of the rest of Team Plasma would have understood. Not N nor even any of the Seven Sages. Ghetsis had been waiting decades for his plan to come to fruition and now that it was finally reaching its success, he found it harder and harder to keep a lid on his true intentions, and his true feelings toward N.
But he knew he could not divulge his true desires just yet. He needed N just a little longer to guilt the people of Unova to release their Pokémon through convincing words. As much as it angered him, he understood that nobody would release their Pokémon willingly if they used force. N’s gentle, passionate words would get him results, regardless of whether he truly understood why or not.
Despite the hero N had chosen not showing up here, however, Ghetsis knew better than to assume that thorn in his side was gone for good. After N was led to the appropriate room in the castle to broadcast his speech by Bronius and Giallo, Ghetsis watched with careful calculation. Once N was out of earshot, he gave the familiar, yet still eerie command: “Shadow Triad, come to me.”
Within seconds the trio of bodyguards appeared, and they flanked him on all sides except directly in front of him. “Yes, Lord Ghetsis?” one of them asked tentatively.
“Find the hero and his friends that N was hoping would show up here,” Ghetsis said coldly, “and kill them. Leave no possible opposition alive.”
“Understood,” a different member of the Triad whispered. Just like that, they were gone again. Ghetsis followed N to the room where he would make his live speech across all of Unova’s television channels. He wanted to oversee the speech and ensure that N stuck to the script. Now, as the true ‘king’ of Team Plasma, Ghetsis was a little worried N would grow bolder and attempt to buck Ghetsis’ control. It would take far more careful manipulation from this point forward to keep his tool in check.
Within two weeks of Team Plasma seizing control of Unova, they had traversed the region, hitting almost every established town and making more public speeches, and trainers were releasing Pokémon by the dozens. All Pokémon in the computerized storage system had been seized by Team Plasma’s scientists and stored in a private system of their own. N appeared at each and every speech as the face of the movement. His voice, quick and efficient, was punctuated by a determined and triumphant air that permeated gathered crowds like an airborne virus, swaying them to his view easily. N should have felt victorious. Yet, everywhere he traveled, all he saw was devastation.
Gym Leaders had all but disappeared overnight. In Nacrene City, nobody could find Lenora, despite a raid made by Team Plasma members on her museum in a bid to draw her out. The triplets in Striaton City had done a similar disappearing act. Burgh had been spotted but had escaped their grasp by disappearing into the Castelia Sewers, along with quite a few other frightened civilians. Team Plasma agents had been sent within to hunt them down and draw them out, but to no avail as of yet. Elesa had stood her ground and then escaped on her Zebstrika while the Team Plasma agents sent after her recovered. Clay merely locked his city up and waged a nearly one-man war on Team Plasma’s efforts, utilizing a terrifying mix of machinery and Pokémon. Skyla had fled with her airplane and nobody had seen her since. Brycen, much like Lenora and the triplets, had all but vanished, and Drayden, his apprentice Iris, and former champion Alder had retreated along with most of Opelucid City to a small but well-defended village north of Opelucid that primarily used Dragon-type Pokémon as its choice weaponry.
Not only did the Gym Leaders’ refusal to cooperate cause unrest and inflict unnecessary pain on Pokémon, but watching regular trainers release their Pokémon had been far more difficult than he could imagine. Everywhere he went, he was assailed with the thoughts and feelings of distraught, devastated Pokémon. Some had even sought him out and made sure he knew of their anger and pain. How could he feel victorious about saving Pokémon if he had so many telling him every single day he had done the exact opposite? That he had ruined their lives? He could tell his personal partners felt the same. Zoroark was disappointed in the state of the world. Zekrom began to grow angry at Team Plasma and primarily, Ghetsis, feeling they were betraying the ideal Zekrom and N had sought. N couldn’t help but agree.
Every time the king of Team Plasma observed his father, however, a heavy stone weighed in his stomach. His mouth would feel like cotton and words became difficult to string together. Having learned common tongues as a secondhand language anyway, they were already difficult to assemble, and the nervousness that flowed whenever he spoke to Ghetsis only exacerbated the issue. He tried to ignore it at first. Consider it growing pains, he had told himself. But the misery didn’t seem to end…
Within a few short months of Team Plasma’s ownership, almost every citizen in Unova no longer had personal Pokémon except for those involved in Team Plasma’s affairs, which was to say most people within Team Plasma still had partner Pokémon of some sort. N had finally been driven to anger when he discovered secretive Team Plasma agents, dressed in more modest, black outfits that almost resembled the Shadow Triad’s except they didn’t show skin, were re-capturing most of the freed Pokémon that wandered into Unova’s hinterland. This had not been the future he had fought for!
He had confronted Ghetsis once they returned to the castle surrounding the Pokémon League. Aside from Colress, who had been handing Ghetsis a deep black staff with a draconian sculpture on its handle, they had been completely alone in that room. The throne room often remained empty except for Ghetsis and N and whoever they wished to see. N stormed up to Ghetsis with purpose, thoroughly fed up with what had become increasingly more and more apparent as a lie.
“Father!” N declared as he stopped just a few feet away. “This is not the future I had promised!”
Ghetsis and Colress exchanged a look. Ghetsis took the staff from Colress and waved him away. The scientist shot Ghetsis a dirty glare but pushed his glasses up smugly and stepped away. Ghetsis took a deep breath and licked his lips as he looked N over. N didn’t like the calculating look in his father’s eyes. “Yes, Lord N?” Ghetsis asked quietly.
“Do not call me that!” N huffed. “I am no Lord, I am not your hero, this is not the future I fought for. I allowed Pokémon to be hurt for this future and instead of liberation, Pokémon are being hurt more and more by the day and your subordinates are catching them for their own personal use still!”
“N, this is a process,” Ghetsis said through gritted teeth. His crimson eyes narrowed darkly. “It’s not easy right now, but in the future, Pokémon will be entirely free of humans.”
“Your subordinates catching and using Pokémon that have been forced to sever from their beloved trainers is not a necessary part of the process!” N spat as he squared his shoulders. A terrible truth was slowly dawning on him, but he didn’t want to believe it. He wanted to believe anything other than what he was worried was happening. “Father…” N paused and breathed deeply. “Is Team Plasma working to liberate Pokémon for their sake, or for Team Plasma’s—or more specifically, your—gain?”
Colress clicked his tongue and N glanced at him, and then back at Ghetsis.
“Perhaps the education I gave you was too much,” Ghetsis mused. He gripped his staff tightly in his unscathed and uncovered arm, and then rapidly raised and slammed it to the floor again. N felt a strange burst of energy overcome him, but not a pleasant one; rather, it felt like a small electrical shock that made his muscles heavy and difficult to move. Ghetsis glowered at N knowingly. “As our king, perhaps it is best I advise you honestly from now on.” Ghetsis then smirked. “There is no reason to separate people from Pokémon, N. People and Pokémon together can achieve great things they cannot do alone. That is fact.”
N gasped and took a step back. He tried to find something to say, but no words would leave his mouth.
“And truth be told,” Ghetsis continued, “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people having Pokémon. Except for the fact it gives them an avenue to rise up and fight me. I have spent far too much of my life working at this for a freak without a human heart such as you to ruin it for me.” Ghetsis suddenly pushed away part of his cloak, revealing his partially mangled arm; it trembled and convulsed in his attempt to raise it, but Ghetsis was able to grab hold of N’s necklace all the same, pulling him until Ghetsis had his mouth inches from N’s ear. N staggered in surprise, but his intense stare never wavered. “This is my world, and you are just a tool living in it, like every other Pokémon in the world,” Ghetsis growled. “Is that clear?”
N’s mind was reeling, but he writhed under Ghetsis’ grasp, and when he couldn’t break free of Ghetsis’ frighteningly strong hold, N kicked away Ghetsis’ newfound cane. It destabilized him enough to force him to let go and N stumbled backward. He heaved for breath and shook his head at Ghetsis. “That’s not true!” N hollered. “You can’t be serious!”
But N knew he was serious. Ghetsis did not joke. Colress looked N over analytically as he came to terms with the truth. Ghetsis managed to haul himself back to his feet after a few seconds and he practically bared his teeth at N. “You!” he snarled in a breathless voice, “You are nothing more but my tool! You have no control now! You are no hero! There are no heroes! Zekrom, Reshiram, they are just Pokémon all the same! You are a disrespectful, horrible excuse for a human being—because you’re the same as them!” Ghetsis hissed.
N straightened himself out and regained his composure. He set his jaw as he looked at his father. “You are wrong,” N said in a quivering tone. It felt so strange and difficult to tell Ghetsis that he was wrong. Keenly, he became aware that he had never said anything remotely like this to his father before. “Zekrom chose me! We are friends! Zekrom recognized me as Unova’s new hero!”
“What or who it chooses means nothing,” Ghetsis jeered, “because it’s a tool! Anyone with the right training can use a tool! Even a freak like you!”
N tensed at the words but stood strong. “You led me to believe the words of all people were lies besides yours, but yours are no better!” N retorted. “You tried to make it look like the rest of the world was full of abuse, and yet you stand here before me, and lie for your own gain!” N stomped a foot. The gravity of the situation was taking a moment to sink in, but as it settled, he couldn’t begin to describe the hatred that washed over him. He had been utterly and completely used, and Pokémon were suffering because of it!
…And people, good people, were suffering as well…
“What happened to the other hero?” N demanded. “And his friends? Cheren, Hil, that girl Bianca? What became of them?”
Colress gave a snicker that tore both N and Ghetsis’ attention away. He blinked at their stares and shrugged. “Oh, no, don’t let me drag you out of this lovely father-son moment,” he laughed, “I am just surprised the great Lord N here has not yet figured it out.”
“Keep your mouth shut, or else!” Ghetsis threatened him.
Colress merely rolled his eyes. “We don’t go there, Ghetsis, and you know why.”
“What became of them?” N demanded again.
“They were dealt with like the threats to Team Plasma they were,” Ghetsis answered dryly.
N felt as if he had been struck with a physical blow with the way the wind left his lungs. He swallowed hard and shook his head. “Y-you can’t mean that you—”
“Yes,” Ghetsis snapped, “yes, I did. Threats to Team Plasma are taken seriously.” Ghetsis gave a slack-jawed, crazed grin that unsettled N deeply. “Do you want to be a threat to Team Plasma, freak?”
N thought about it for a minute. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t scared. No, it would be downright foolish to say he wasn’t; Ghetsis was terrifying in every sense of the word. Even before his discoveries in the recent months, he had known not to disobey his father from a very young age. He had ignored all the warning signs over the years for the sake of getting to help his true friends, the Pokémon who had raised him, and the broken creatures that he had come to know over the years—the ones whose hearts were so scarred they would never heal. On top of the fear from confronting Ghetsis, he also had mountainous guilt that practically suffocated him. He had helped Ghetsis build this world, after all; how could he have been so blind?
All of that, however, was precisely why he couldn’t stand down. N blinked and drew in a long breath. “Yes,” N growled, “I do. I am Unova’s hero whether you like it or not, Father, and I will fight you on that until my last breath if I must. I am done being your tool!”
“Then you will fight me until your last breath!” Ghetsis shouted. He slammed that cane again, taking a considerable amount of effort to raise in the first place, and added hoarsely, “Shadow Triad, come to me!”
“Zekrom, help me!” N exclaimed as he reached for the dragon’s Poké Ball. He tossed it, but it did not open, and his friend did not appear in front of him. Alarmed, N dove to try to grab the Poké Ball back, to prevent Ghetsis or any of his goons from grabbing hold of it, but he felt an intense pressure on his back and his shirt became a collar as it yanked him away from where the Poké Ball had landed. He landed on his rear and looked up to see the imposing figures of the Shadow Triad looming over him.
N’s eyes darted around the room until they locked onto Ghetsis’ cane. Colress had been fiddling with it moments before N had walked into the room. N turned his attention to Colress. “Why are you helping him do this?” N asked desperately. “What do you possibly have to gain from this?”
“More funding and time to research,” Colress answered with a non-committal shrug.
N glared at them all as he tried to get back to his feet. A member of the Shadow Triad retrieved Zekrom’s Poké Ball from the floor and handed it to Ghetsis. The other two members latched onto one of N’s arms each and held him so tightly he could feel their nails digging at his skin. Just like that, the surroundings of the castle left them, and Ghetsis, N, and the Shadow Triad were alone in an eerie, chilly forest of pine trees. N saw a couple of Absol curiously peak out from some bushes nearby. He shook his head vigorously at them and begged them in an inhuman chuffing sound to leave. Alarmed at his warning, they took him at his word and fled. The rustling of leaves and snapping of twigs told him that more Pokémon had been around nearby and had also decided to leave at his warning.
“Team Plasma has no more need of your speeches,” Ghetsis sneered, “no more need of your ridiculous parlor trick. Shadow Triad! Execute him!”
N threw all his weight into a flipping motion that ripped him free of the two Shadow Triad members’ holds on his arms, and he wildly kicked his legs as he rolled away from them. “Shadow Triad, listen to me! I am N, Team Plasma’s king and Ghetsis’ son! You take orders from me as well, remember?” N howled as the Triad descended upon him. N’s exclamation gave them all pause. They stopped in their tracks and exchanged slow looks amongst one another, and then finally looked to Ghetsis.
“Don’t just stand there!” Ghetsis barked. “Take care of him!”
“We cannot,” one of them answered softly and shook his head.
“He carries your blood,” another whispered.
N blinked incredulously at that Shadow Triad member. “What do you mean?” N asked anxiously. “He found me and he is my father, but we are not blood-related…” N trailed off as he realized the only proof he had of that statement were words Ghetsis and his other two ‘adoptive’ children—N’s childhood caretakers and sisters—Anthea and Concordia, who were likely equally as duped as he was. N panted for breath as the situation continued to get more and more dire, more and more upsetting. “Father, are we related by blood?”
“Yes,” Ghetsis answered swiftly, “but I am not your father, you freak of nature! Shadow Triad, your oath is with me and me only, I renounce the extension of my mastery to N!”
The Shadow Triad still did not budge. It was the third who spoke this time. “This does not change the fact that he carries your blood,” he said pointedly. “We cannot bring harm to him.”
“Then I’ll just have to finish the job myself!” Ghetsis spat after the Triad. The three men simply took a few steps back and watched with the usual, deadpan expression. N had to wonder how he intended to do that but found his question answered when that Ghetsis lunged at him and that cane found N’s open mouth, striking him in the teeth. N yelped and hit the ground on his back. He didn’t have time to assess the damage because in seconds, Ghetsis clambered on top of him and pressed the staff against N’s throat. His frail right arm shook and twitched under the pressure, and N scrabbled at Ghetsis’ face and hands with his own, writhing beneath him. Ghetsis gave a furious yell as N continued to fight him and managed to succeed and pushing the cane up and off his trachea enough to allow himself air again. “I created you and I will destroy you here!” Ghetsis screamed.
N, hands clutching at the staff for dear life, curled his lips into a snarl. “I cannot let the world fall into the hands of someone such as you!” he hissed through gritted teeth. With a surge of strength, he managed to throw Ghetsis off of himself altogether. He seized his father’s cane and held it out threateningly. N’s throat throbbed with pain and he was panting heavily, but he was still alive, and now he had the staff. Ghetsis’ crippled frame would surely give up on him before he managed to overpower him, wouldn’t it…?
Ghetsis seemed intent to prove N wrong as he rushed at him again, this time with his hands outstretched and going for N’s throat. N slapped his arms away with the cane and staggered away from him, turning in circles. N shook his head. This was insane. “Father, listen to me!” N demanded breathlessly. “We can still fix this! We can truly release Pokemon, and release the ones that Team Plasma holds captive! It is not too late!”
Ghetsis stalked about N in a way that reminded N of a Liepard circling its prey. “I have come too far to let you destroy everything I have built!” Ghetsis snarled. He abruptly launched himself at N in a way that shouldered N to the ground and there they wrestled again. Ghetsis took a fistful of his gold and violet cloak and plastered it across N’s face. He used his left hand to stuff a significant amount of the fabric into N’s mouth and was able to use it as a restraint. N may have been swifter, stronger, and younger, but he had almost never been in a physical altercation in his life. His lack of experience painfully showed.
Ghetsis planted his knees on N’s thighs, keeping him from being able to get up, and his arms were gripping the cloth over N’s face, which as a consequence made N’s hands disoriented as he scrabbled and fought to try to throw Ghetsis back off. “You are no hero and you will not die like a hero!” Ghetsis boasted as he gripped the cloth tighter and tighter around N’s face. N dug nails into Ghetsis’ arms until they drew blood. “Maybe if you would beg…” Ghetsis grinned.
“No, I will… will not… At least… I… fought for… making the world better…” N puffed through ragged, pained breaths, muffled by the cloth in his mouth. “My… only regret is… helping you!”
“Even in death, you mock me!” Ghetsis snarled. “How dare you continue to speak as if you have won, you freak!”
“You’re the… freak without… the human heart,” N hissed in his dying breath. He knew he was defeated and there was no way out of it for him at this point. His head swam and blackness deliriously circled his vision. Admittedly, he was quite upset he had not managed to stop Ghetsis as he had intended, but he would not let Ghetsis know that. Maybe he couldn’t actually win, but if he could get under Ghetsis’ skin, then perhaps he could destabilize Ghetsis’ control.
Ghetsis screamed and clamped both his hands around N’s neck, the cloth of his cloak still covering N’s face, and he squeezed. He squeezed as hard as he could, all the while howling at the top of his lungs in an inhuman expression of rage and didn’t stop until N’s body fell still below him and he felt something give way in N’s throat. He then collapsed on top of N in a heap.
He had won, and yet, fury still made Ghetsis’ heart pound wildly. He couldn’t believe N’s audacity to call HIM the freak without a human heart! N was the freak! He was the mistake, the tool used to carve out his new world! He had raised him from nothing and made him king and rather than accept that cushy lifestyle, N had chosen to fight him to… to the death! He growled as he shakily tried to pick himself up off of N. He had been unable to force N into submission, even as he was strangling the life from him, and that made his blood boil. “Shadow Triad, help me!” Ghetsis gasped when he found he could not get up. The fight with N had sapped all of his strength.
He noted that they moved slowly over to him and when they hauled him from the ground, they did so by his partially paralyzed arm, sending waves of pain firing through Ghetsis’ body. He howled in pain and glowered at them once to his feet. “How dare you! You know better!” Ghetsis shot at them.
The three members of the Shadow Triad simply looked at him. Their usual deadpanned expression was different somehow. In their narrow eyes he thought he saw for the first time contempt. Ghetsis curled his lips and said, “Know your place, Shadow Triad! Now, take me back to the castle. Leave him here. We’re out in the wilderness beyond the Giant Chasm, nobody will find him here anyway.”
“As you command,” a member of the Shadow Triad whispered. He spoke so quietly it was almost difficult for Ghetsis to understand him. The three members of the Shadow Triad descended upon Ghetsis and then teleported him back to the castle as he had asked.

This is the first time in years Axel’s actually been in a proper battle. Minor sparring practice with friends is nothing compared to this. In his head, this is all or nothing, to save his friend.
He claps and points forwards, and the ground begins to shake. He’s hopeful it doesn’t hurt his teammates too much.
If Reshiram starts flying, all he knows is that he’s going to chase after it, no matter what.
“Hey Krooko! Use Rock Slide!” Rosa’s next to attack, and her Krookodile starts showering Reshiram in rocks.
Before any other attacks are made, Reshiram begins to power up something-- N recognises the move, and he knows how dangerous it is.
“That’s Fusion Flare! If it hits any of us, it could kill us!”
That’s what Axel’s been expecting this whole time. Axel sends out another Pokemon-- his Lapras.
“Everyone, return your Pokemon if they’re weak to water!”
That’s only Rosa’s Krookodile, and in it’s place, she sends out Alomomola.
“If anyone can guard, do it now! Bigby! Flood us with a Surf!”
Rosa’s Alomomola Wide-Guards across Hugh. He really doesn’t look like he’s doing well, and getting him into more danger seems like the worst idea. She runs over to him through the guard, just to check if he’s okay.
“Are you doing alright?”
“I’ve been... so much better, definitely. I’ll be fine, it just hurts a bit.”
One look on Rosa’s face tells him that she knows he’s lying. She sends out her Audino.
“Audi, Heal Pulse on Hugh.”
It isn’t much, but the pain seems to ease, and he’s able to focus a little more.
“Thanks, I owe you.”
Meanwhile, most of Nuvema has a foot of water swirling around it. When Reshiram finally does use Fusion Flare, everyone has to duck underwater. Axel uses this time to move closer to Reshiram-- it’s aiming for him, right? So why let his friends stand in the way?-- and send out another Pokemon.
Harkul.
Silently, Axel commands it to throw the barb it’s holding into Reshiram’s body, to try and poison it. When Reshiram notices him so close, it sweeps a wing at him--
--throwing him high into the air.
It’s a split second decision on his part. Something he didn’t want to do, but in the moment, seemed like the only thing he could.
While everyone else is trying to attack-- Zoroark is using Night Slash, Meganium is Outraging, Oshii is using Hydro Pump again, Meinshao is trying to Hi-Jump Kick it, and Alomomola is still trying to Wide Guard-- Axel makes his decision.
He sends out Lianon.
At the sight of another Legendary, Reshiram seems to get angrier.
“You don’t deserve the power of a God!”
Axel barely manages to grab onto Lianon’s tail, and silently tells it to use Earth Power, directly where Reshiram is standing-- but Reshiram starts to move.
It begins to power it’s tail and flap its wings, and then--
--it propels itself into the air, before jetting across the Region, towards Dragonspiral Tower.
Axel and N are the only two who manage to follow it.

Pokémon Black 2 Randomized Nuzlocke Run [Part 7]
It is time for badge number seven.
Lesgo.
Vertex (Luxray)
Caspet (Gengar)
Nessy (Milotic)
Diego (Gardevoir)
Photon (Rayquaza)
Cerberus (Dodrio)
Squad goals.
Tumblr media
Why won’t Unova Gyms ever just let me leave?
And apparently I’m not going through Twist Mountain? I’m getting a lift on a plane?
If that’s the case, that’s happening later. I think I’m going to get Cerberus up to level 40 in the sad death tower before I do anything else. I don’t want to have members of my team lagging consistently. You will all be useful. I will make it happen.
Also, something I haven’t mentioned yet (...I think, it’s been a while to get this far) is that Pokemon Breeders in this gen seem to be available to fight every single time you enter that route. Not like you can fight them if you want. After beating them, if you leave and go back to the route, they will do the exclamation point thing.
This is annoying.
Route 7, also known as that place before the sad death tower, has one.
It is not irritating enough to conjure up hate for. And yet.
Flash forward into the future a bit later, and we have a team where everyone’s above or at 40 except for... Photon. Photon, my friend, we’re just gonna slap the Exp. Share on you and continue with the plot. Your legendary status means me stacking the deck with levels is less important.
Tumblr media
I can’t believe this place has a purpose in this game. Or that I get to fly in a plane (I assume, my memory on the sequel games is even worse than my memory for Black and White starting out). There’s something weird about using a plane to get around in a Pokemon game. Doesn’t feel natural.
Oh well, too bad so sad.
...Lentimas Town.
I have no memory of this place.
Hey, Bianca’s coming with us! Yay!
Tumblr media
I really have no memory of this place, but there’s some Fire pokemon in Reversal Mountain, apparently, and also Professor Juniper reminds everyone that Black and White happened, so it makes no sense for Team Plasma to be trying to wake up a dragon; they’re all accounted for after all.
My exploits from last game mattered, you guys. They really did happen.
No, but I’m easy to please. Any time the games reference games that happened in the past for the current game, I am made a happy camper. Us and N catching a legendary dragon each is a good thing to keep in continuity.
Tumblr media
I’m starting to maybe remember this place... maybe?
I guess we don’t stay here long, so time to not really care. I do continue to like how the setting is not an exact copy of the previous games, though. There’s a lot of repetition that comes from this being a sequel, but everything’s been thought out well enough that it really does feel like a new journey.
Tumblr media
Now see, my question is if there’s a cave to this Reversal Mountain, and is it marked with a different title. I’m catching something very soon, but do I have the option of picking between outside Reversal Mountain and inside, or do I... perchance... get both?
It’s probably just one and I should just march into the grass.
I don’t wanna.
Ah, but it looks like I have to step through grass anyway. But there is the option of dark grass vs. normal grass.
I am too battle-weary and scarred. Normal grass.
Tumblr media
!!!! A Normal pokemon for the normal grass! Hi Miltank! Let us be the best of friends and not roll each other into death. Photon’s the best bet for not accidentally killing the little lady (I did not check this with numbers and have no plans to).
Only while I was typing, Miltank used Bide, and I missed that, so Nessy with her excellent HP had to go out and deal with the consequences of Photon’s one attack. Nessy and Twister are taking Miltank down at a safe rate. She’s in the orange, so throwing time.
While she’s using Rollout.
Of course.
Hey, first ball! We’re Pokemon Going over here!
Her name is Bessy. Because it is.
But whoops, I need to head back to the Pokemon Center for a hot second and get her out of the Graves box. You’re not dead yet, darling.
Dark grass has Luxio.
Tumblr media
It also leads to a strange house instead of fun cave time.
Tumblr media
See, right there in the title. Can has pokemon?
Tumblr media
Coool. Want to join my gang?
Nessy and Twister seem to be an okay catching combo. Let’s see if we can get it working twice in a row.
Tumblr media
Damn it, Nessy. Your first one left him in the green. The green. Sigh.
Farewell, unnamed shark friend.
(he woulda been bruce)
Ahoy random Gigalith in the upstairs of the house with the moving furniture I can’t cap because these are stills. Sadly I’m not in the mood to deal with Sturdy, so I’m going to run from those instead of harvesting them.
Awww, there’s a Castform downstairs. Plus a Spell Tag.
Then the furniture moves and clears up a doorway. Behind which is a trainer.
I feel like a lot of the NPCs we meet in these games have very hard lives. Hello Sentret in the middle of the room. Are you keeping this one company?
Ludicolo is in the front room.
Caspet learns Dark Pulse. Bye-bye, Night Shade.
Tumblr media
Waaaaaait. Wait. Aren’t you the ghost girl from the bridge in the last games? I remember you! Is this where you get something to do instead of just being odd? Note that it doesn’t count if it’s an event thing that needs a code or internet or special event items!
She’s looking for her parents.
And her Abra.
....Then a wild Abra shows up.
Is that scripted, or did the Randomizer just give me an amazing gift?
Weepinbell back downstairs.
I go through another door, and get a Full Heal for my trouble. With added wild Octillery. Fuck you, Octillery. You are banned from all my runs forever.
Ooooo wild Haxorus. Look at all these things I can’t have. Downstairs has a stray Riolu. The trouble I go through for a... Dusk Stone. Yeah, okay, that’s nice to have. Toxicroak is also here.
Then back upstairs, suddenly Gible. What’s this place usually supposed to have?
The second floor’s chairs have moved, so I go through one of the upstairs doors. Another trainer room. Yay. With a Mr. Mime. Yay.
Tumblr media
I’m really sorry about your life/undeath, NPC Ghost Girl.
Oh, neat. Lunar Wing.
I have no memory of which legendary that belongs to. I want to guess Cresselia, but I don’t know if it’s even in this game. I do know it’s a gen four legendary, which would make sense for the sidequest feel of this house.
Oh wait it doesn’t matter because Randomized Nuzlocke.
...Well fine, but I’d still like to know.
Tumblr media
That makes me feel surprisingly sad.
One last door to check out. Empty but for Golett (want) and a Rare Candy. Time to leave.
Back outside there’s an Exeggcute I wouldn’t have wanted. The normal grass has Whismur.
Tumblr media
There was a cave after all. Ugh. I can’t believe this counts as the same route as outside. Cave and grass should get to be different.
Tumblr media
Heeey! Bianca! Wait, before we team up and I abuse your healing for exp, I need to check the other side of the cave.
Oh. The other side of the cave has a Max Repel and that’s it. Back to Bianca, I guess. And she’s psyched for Heatran, which is a very relatable feel.
Zoroark and Tangrowth for the first encounter of the cave. I say, pretending it matters. Stoutland can also be found here. Knowing their propensity for knowing Crunch, I think maybe something not Caspet can be in the front. Photon, gain your own exp for a change.
Crawdaunt is another feature. It’s a dark, Dark cave.
I was checking to see if Cerberus can learn Acrobatics. No, but he can learn Fly. You know, that classic Dodrio usage. Fly. Which he is absolutely learning.
Aww, a wild Togepi. It’s gone now.
I love getting to wander with someone who handles the healing. It’s so nice battling without stress. Also known as grinding without needing to use up items.
Tumblr media
Haa. See, normally you’d be right, but.
Huh. There’s a Magikarp and a Weedle through a different passage. Neat. You will not be missed. Then we come across a bizarrely gen-appropriate pair of Tympole.
Can Triple Battles not be a thing? I don’t care for them. They make me worry. Arguably I could help myself by arranging my team so I would have a good comp for whenever I fell into one, but where would the fun in that sane choice be.
Dust clouds come with Munchlax. Neato.
Tumblr media
We’re in a legendary’s nest. They’re all like this.
...Why can you find Luxray and Ninjask here???
Ditto for Steelix and Porygon. Yay for Randomizer randomizing every single room of an area. It’s cool, but in the larger places it can be really disorienting. A male Nidoran also says hello.
I don’t know where to find the Magma Stone to get Heatran, so we’re done with Reversal Mountain, I believe. Geez I hope that’s the name of this place. I’m too lazy to check at the moment.
Tumblr media
I have escaped!
And found a Shiny Stone. Win.
I didn’t recognize this place, then I remembered. Water. Bay. Post-game trauma. They messed with the map to keep things interesting.
Tumblr media
What.
My curiosity is piqued.
But I want to get something random in the waves before I investigate.
Tumblr media
Um.
Well this is awkward.
Level 39.
Photon should not be out front for this. Nessy?
Okay. Nessy gets Regice in the red. Regice knows Curse and Ancient Power. I do have a Master Ball. I can’t deny that I’m seriously tempted by it, but we’re going to try doing this like a standard trainer first.
Net Ball doesn’t work because of course it doesn’t (I just wanted to use it because Surfing), and Regice knows Superpower. Ah yes, the Regis and their. Stuff. First Ultra Ball doesn’t get anywhere. Same for second. Icy Wind is Regice’s last move.
My team has no Fire or Fighting on it. I miss having those options.
Have I been able to buy Timer Balls anywhere? Those would be nice to have right about now, as my Ultra Ball supply dwindles.
I am out of Ultra Balls.
Look, Pokemon Go legendary catching can be rough. You only get so many balls, and even if you do everything perfectly, it still might run on you.
But you don’t end up spending twenty minutes trying to catch one thing.
Seconds after I type that:
Tumblr media
Heeeeeyo.
What do I name it, though?
Refrigerator.
That doesn’t fit.
Refriger8r.
Okay, so I have to stock up on Ultra Balls, and possibly also healing options depending on my mood when I look at the prices. Then we go see what Undella Bay and Route 14 have to offer.
The Undella Pokemon Center only has Luxury and Dive Balls. :(
My beloved Timer. Where...?
And then I bought 50 Ultra Balls.
I’m going to sell some stuff.
Okay Bay, what do you have for me?
Tumblr media
Yeah, I can make this work.
Assuming I don’t accidentally kill it.
Thank goodness for Nessy still knowing Twister. Gottem.
His name is now Zentrotta. I think we can agree he’d be happier if I hadn’t caught him. Tragedy at its finest.
Caspet is back up front, and for now Nessy will carry the Exp. Share. She’s not had much to go up against, so she’s lagging a tad.
Aw, there’s a little Deerling on the water. Aaand it’s gone.
Tumblr media
Hello what is this.
Tumblr media
Indeed.
...I have questions I can’t really make myself care about enough to type.
So this guy only moves if we beat him, and before we get the chance to beat him we have to pass some game-acknowledged strength test. I probably need another badge or something. But there’s enough ground to walk back and forth, so what have you got for me, Seaside Cave?
Tumblr media
Cool beans.
Nessy, come help not kill it.
Yay, caught.
His name is Blimperton now. Welcome to the box.
Outside, the deep water spots can be Venomoth. How pleasant.
Tumblr media
Jelli to you too, good sir.
Huh, okay, they just give you a random Jellicent encounter here.
Tumblr media
Game. I was just trying to speed along to the Pokemon Center. Please.
Unfezant down, Simisage down, Vertex can be in for Samurott. Level 41, so I’m. not as overleveled as I usually am except for Caspet. Caspet has reached 47 and I don’t mind her being completely overpowered.
For an update, since I think I’m pretty bad about keeping track of their levels in this: Caspet is 47, Nessy is 43, Vertex is 43, Diego is 44, Photon is 45, Cerberus is 43. Everyone is healthy and alive.
Geez I hate Triple Battles. Random trainers don’t share my feelings. This is an annoyance.
ROTATION BATTLES AREN’T THAT MUCH BETTER, OTHER RANDOM TRAINER. STOP THINKING YOU’RE SPECIAL JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE AN ACE OR A COOL OR WHATEVER THE HECK YOUR TITLE IS I DIDN’T READ IT.
And I can’t continue down through Route 14 because there’s a block of people in the way. So I guess all that’s left to do is check out what the sequel to this route has in store for me.
Last game it did not have anything I wanted.
But this time...!
Tumblr media
Eh. I’ll catch you I guess.
Her name’s Tux now.
Meanwhile, in the dark grass...
Tumblr media
Yep.
Wormadam, too. Such grass. Much excite.
Off up to Route 13.
New route means yet another new pokemon. ...After we fight a bunch of trainers because I care more about levels than pokemon I’m hoping to never use at the moment.
Several minutes later, the only other trainers are through grass, so let’s go!
Tumblr media
Eyo. I don’t think I’ve had you before.
Cerberus, are you up for helping?
Well, one hit almost took half your health. So let’s say no.
Nessy!
...You know, given the amount of damage it’s doing. I think I’m going to Surf and risk fainting before it kills Nessy. Aaand... yeah. Mienshao out.
This grass also has Sandile. And Cascoon.
Tumblr media
Nothing I have knows Cut. Languish there for all days.
That Ranger wants a Triple Battle.
Why is this route like this.
Hey, a Heatran! Bianca, guess what!
Tumblr media
Oh so you don’t need Cut. Meh. I’m not in the mood.
Professor Juniper and Bianca say hello in town. Bianca, walk about twenty steps to the right so you can find something neat. You’ll love it, promise.
But no, it’s time to listen to an old lady talk about the Giant Chasm. I don’t wanna do that, either. I want my badges. I maybe should have taken the aquarium route to speed that along, but I don’t know if that would actually do anything.
Wait, I was spamming A. Was there a directive in there?
Tumblr media
Hm. I sense plot ahead.
Tumblr media
This villain understands me.
Oh cool battle time.
Russell, buddy, you run almost as much as blondie scarf from gen 4. Take a chill pill. You have won all the good big brother points you possibly could just by caring about a Purrloin this long.
So everything’s telling us to go to Opelucid. For Dragons.
Hard pass, where’s the surfer Gym? Water sounds way friendlier. I’m going to see if that one’s blocked off or not.
DAMN IT.
The janitor won’t let us pass. ;-;
Okay fine, I guess we’re heading to Opelucid. And plot, probably. The plot is of no interest to me. This is true in pretty much every single one of these games. I’m in it for the pokemon. The human with their human troubles are way less fun.
Tumblr media
New route! What will it have for us?
I had to embrace fun when I saw one of the grass patches shaking. Our first route with a wiggly grass option! And it is...?
Tumblr media
I’ll gladly take it!
...If I can catch it!
...Preferably without anyone dying!
I’m going to let Photon take a stab. Crunch should be super effective, but Photon doesn’t have STAB adding to it, and Metagross has rocking Defense. So this might be pathetically sad, but nothing should die.
Tumblr media
PHOTON.
FRIEND.
NOT FOOD.
Three Ultra Balls in, I am sad.
But we get it! Huzzah!
Its name is Stormy. :)
Ouch, Caspet’s trying to learn Destiny Bond.
Caspet?
You’re not dying. This is the definition of a useless move.
What else does this here grass hold when it’s not wiggling?
ELEKID. Noooo. Why must we always pass like ships in the night... Claydol is also here.
The dark grass’ first entry is Jynx and Magikarp. Chingling is also here. Buizel too.
Cerberus has learned Drill Peck! Oh happy days!
Normal grass has Vaporeon, Huntail, and Spinda to go with what we’ve already seen.
Vertex is moving up front, and Diego is getting the Exp. Share instead of Cerberus for the time being.
Tumblr media
Another bridge, another route.
Another set of trainers that really make me want to have a Fire type.
There’s dark grass on one side of the bridge, normal grass on the other. A pass through on my bike didn’t get anything to pop out of the dark grass, so normal grass wins the prize for this route’s catch.
Before that, there are trainer battles.
Of the Triple variety.
yay
Tumblr media
Ooooooh. I like this. I like this a lot.
Vertex, do not murder.
Vertex follows instructions, paralyzes Vileplume, and dodges getting poisoned twice. This is why he’s allowed to live. One Ultra Ball later, and new friend acquired.
Named... Bongo.
Geez, this grass also has Mamoswine. We’re not fighting that. The water’s dark spots get Zebstrika.
Tumblr media
Uh.
Tumblr media
So she shoves me out.
Rude. I’m the protagonist. I go where I want.
Tumblr media
I’m starting to rush a little since this part is getting long and I haven’t even hit the badge town, but hey! I do remember this sequence! I remembered it belonging to a different game, but A for effort, right?
Made it to Opelucid.
Since the game itself suggests via Iris to go to Route 9 first, I’m guessing I should clear up anywhere that offers trainers to fight before trying the Gym. Dragon is a pain anyway. I don’t have anything except Nessy’s Twister that’s super effective against it. I think even at the level I’m at, it should be okay, but I also think it could go incredibly badly, which I don’t want.
But before that, Route 11 didn’t force me to go through any grass, so I still have a pokemon to catch there. Let’s watch.
Tumblr media
Huh, interesting. ...Vertex, let’s swap you out before something unfortunate happens. Though it is level 36, and he does know Crunch... Yeah, we’re going to be stupid. Magnitude 7 doesn’t do a threatening amount of damage. Yay.
She is caught, and her name shall be Winn.
Now the other side of Opelucid, after healing up.
Miltank! But we have a Miltank. Next.
Tumblr media
I like.
Tumblr media
Vertex. Critical hits are for trainer battles. Sigh. Farewell, Route 9. I think we could have been great together, but alas. Now to go through all the everything else to do in this route and then go finally get the seventh badge.
Hm. I think maybe I’ll just get everyone on the team up to 50, then go for it. Nice, even number.
Other things of note: I have found a Mart with Quick Balls. The world is bright. But for now, grinding. ...Against Torchic and Deerling, apparently. Maybe I want other grass. Oh, but dude. Glaceon in the dark grass. Nice. Ha, randomized and still offering super effective options outside scary gyms. Golduck and Nidorina are here, too. And Braviary and Pansage.
-winds the clock forward a few hours-
K, we’ve got folks at level 50 now. So, Drayden?
Tumblr media
Dragons.
Cerberus is going to sit in first for a while. He’s on the fragile side, but his Attack and Speed are good, and Flying should be neutral to everything in the Gym. Same cloth as Caspet, only physical. Nessy might take over just for the comfort of tankiness, but this is where we start.
First person in the Gym has one level 46 Fraxure.
Dragons are scary.
Tumblr media
Oh fuck you.
Fuck. That’s partially on me. If I had used Drill Peck instead of Fly, Fraxure would have been busy Dragon Dancing and would have done zero damage. But I used Fly to try to hit Fraxure hard while avoiding any of its attacks, and.
Look, the screencap’s right there.
Fuck.
Nessy’s going in, under the theory that nothing on my team is going before Dragon Dance x2 Fraxure, but Nessy’s the most likely option for surviving.
It uses Taunt so it doesn’t matter.
Great.
Tumblr media
Great.
Cerberus, I like Dodrio. An Adamant Dodrio? Wonderful. You will be missed. Fly will be missed. Many things about this feel awful.
Bye.
Tumblr media
Stormy is a Jolly Metagross that’s a little quick tempered.
Welcome. You’ll be given the Exp. Share while your new friends try very hard to make it through the rest of this Gym without casualties.
-drums fingers-
With Dragon Dance being a move everything in this Gym is probably going to know, I do not want to play the long game with any of the trainers. I want to go in and kill everything in one hit.
...Caspet is in front.
-hides eyes behind hands-
-gives Caspet a Spell Tag-
One trainer down as planned.
Tumblr media
IIIIIII hate this gym.
Druddigon has Crunch. Things to keep in mind.
So now we have the most obnoxious part of this Gym. I get to choose between Rotation and Triple Battle for the next peg up it. My usual path says I do both. In case you haven’t noticed, I hate Triple Battles. Doing one is not high on my list of desired outcomes.
But I’d feel weird avoiding it. Famous last words. -sigh- Caspet, Vertex, Nessy. That’s the order. Let’s do this.
Easy part done. Rotation Battle win. Ugh.
For the sake of my sanity, I’m giving Caspet all three of my Rare Candy. Yes, I have a favorite, yes, it’s the closest thing I have to a starter. If I’m putting her so close to the chopping block, I’m going to make sure she’s fully equipped. Druddigons are surviving to attack her right now, and that’s no bueno.
Triple Battle. Weeee.
It ends in a round because Caspet wins at life. Awesome. Okay.
All that’s left is Drayden.
Tumblr media
This guy’s face is a lot less scary when it isn’t up close.
Sooooooo. Level 46 Druddigon is first. Shadow Ball finishes it. Flygon is next. ...That one, I think I can trust to Nessy. Flygon isn’t as much about hard hits.
Level 46 again. Crunch gets a critical hit that just barely keeps Nessy in the green, Nessy uses Surf. Surf brings Flygon to a sliver of red, so I go with Surf again. Hopefully Flygon’s other moves don’t do more damage than a critical hit Crunch, or Drayden feels like healing it.
Yeah, Drayden goes with a Hyper Potion.
...Flygon’s next Crunch gets a critical hit too, what the hell.
Surf after that faints it, though. So that’s two out of three down.
Drayden’s last pokemon is Haxorus. Nessy’s too far in the red to keep in without healing, and Haxorus is high on the Dragon Dance strat list. But if Caspet can’t get it in one hit, I’m pretty confident in Haxorus’ ability to fuck Caspet up.
But I’m honestly pretty confident in Haxorus’ ability to fuck my entire team up. Caspet would be the best bet for ending it fast. ...So, you know. Caspet. Go. Go. not die.
Level 48 Haxorus. Yaaaaaaaaaaay.
Tumblr media
CASPET YOU BEAUTIFUL GHOST.
Tumblr media
THAT’S BADGE SEVEN.
WE’RE NOT ALL ALIVE BUT ENOUGH OF US ARE.
AND I WAS PREWARNED ABOUT GETTING TALKED TO OUTSIDE ABOUT UNOVA’S MYTHOLOGY, BUT FOR NOW THIS PART IS OVER, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

(Ferriswheelshipping) Awakened Emotions Chapter 1
Hello guys! I'm starting a new White x N story. At first I couldn't decide to keep her name Touko from the Japanese version or not but I decided on White. Anyways I hope you guys enjoy the story and please review or PM! I love feedback and constructive criticism is also appreciated so I can become better.
At the beginning of their final battle at his castle, N couldn't have been more sure of his ideals. Pokemon and people are better off separated. After all, he thought that he wouldn't have gotten this far and gained the favor of the legendary Pokemon Reshiram if his ideals weren't what the world should be shaped into.
But, White had also gained the favor of the legendary Zekrom, and her ideals were completely different than his. But he wanted to show her and the world how it should be. He wanted his Pokemon friends to be free of the abuse many trainers inflicted upon their Pokemon and he wanted them to have the ability to roam free like they were supposed to before trainers captured them and treated them like slaves for battle and power. He had heard one too many Pokemon cry in pain while in battle as their trainers forced them to do their bidding. N was included in this, and it broke his heart each time his beloved Pokemon were injured in battle in the war for Pokemon liberation. But he hoped his Pokemon friends would be able to hold out a little longer so they could assure the future happiness of all other Pokemon so they could finally be free. If his team brought him victory, he knew he would release them so they could finally be free too. He hated using his team but it was the only way he could in order to free Pokemon once and for all.
Sure, a few times N had doubted his ideals a bit. But only when it came to White. When she battled with her Pokemon against him, her Pokemon were so happy to be fighting for her. He heard their thoughts of enjoyment and excitement for the battle, and he heard their determination they had in order to please their trainer they loved so much. He had thought to himself a few times that he wouldn't mind too much if all trainers were like White.
But it wasn't a perfect world. Most of the trainers abused their Pokemon and pushed them above their limits in order to satisfy themselves and assert power. They didn't care about their Pokemon and used them as tools. Some of the Pokemon owned by trainers yearned for escape and release, but would always be sucked back into their prison of a Pokeball. N had heard their thoughts of despair as they were forced to go back into their ball and their yearning cries to be free echoed in his mind as reminded him of his mission again. He felt sorry for White, she was a truly magnificent trainer who treated her Pokemon well. But he thought that even White with her Pokemon whom she had a deep relationship with would probably be better off in nature where they belonged.
The battle between White and N rages on in the castle, and they were evenly matched at first. He had smirked at her, knowing his determination and ideals couldn't be beaten. After all, he thought his ideal was truly in the right place. She wanted Pokemon to be continued to be imprisoned by trainers and she wanted Pokemon to continue to battle and fight. Although she was a strong and determined girl, he believed his love for Pokemon would allow him to triumph in victory.
However, their battle began to go downhill for N. With his first few moves, he thought he had the advantage, but he was dead wrong. He had simply gotten lucky, and she was now decimating his Pokemon friends he loved so much. They fainted, one by one, falling over with a whimper of apology to N as they blacked out.
I'm sorry, Lord N. I am not strong enough… Zoroark collapses onto the ground, heaving and fighting to stay awake after he had just received a big attack from White's Pokemon.
N rushed to his fainting Zoroark and held him in his arms.
"Don't be sorry, you did all you could..." N whispers to his fallen friend as Zoroark faints in his arms.
A single tear escapes his eye as he returns the fainted Zoroark to his Pokeball.
N shakes his head to himself, his black and white cap covering his eyes.
Zoroark, you are plenty strong enough. It is only me to blame for all this. If I was stronger,
Pokemon would all be free and happy… But I haven't lost yet… There's still a chance!
He lifts his cap up above his eyes so he can see again and sees White staring at him across the battlefield with a strange expression. She seemed distraught and upset, which N found quite strange.
She should be happy… She is destroying my team and her ideal is proving to be stronger than mine…
Watching N from across the battlefield, White's emotions were a jumbled mess. Although she wanted to win this battle and prove Pokemon and people should be able to be together, she felt horrible for N. She had watched the heartbreaking scene unfold where N held his beaten up Zoroark close with tears glistening in his cloudy blue eyes, and she felt her heart break for this boy too. She thought he was such a kind motivated individual who truly loved Pokemon and White would have loved to be friends with N if their situation had not been so complicated. If they hadn't been pitted against each other in a deciding battle, she thinks she would have been able to be great friends with him. She honestly didn't really want this battle to happen, but she knew it was inevitable or else Team Plasma would steal more Pokemon regardless of what she did.
N does not know why she seems so sad, but averts his attention to his final Pokeball. He holds it in his hand, running his thumb across it. He remembers his Pokemon friends who had fallen before him, and determination burned throughout him again. He wasn't going to let White win. Pokemon deserved better than that. If he lost, he would fail every Pokemon in the region. He would fail his father he worked so hard to please… He would fail everything.
"You're my last friend… Do your best, Reshiram!" He tosses his final Pokeball into the field.
He had saved the legendary dragon Pokemon for last. He knew deep inside that they would come to victory together and Pokemon would finally be free. Reshiram appears from its Pokeball, its huge body causing the entire castle to shake as it landed on the ground. White had stumbled a lot nearly falling over from the huge earthquake Reshiram had caused just from being sent in.
Ugh… I can't get intimidated! I need to send in Zekrom! He's the only one who can fight the legendary dragon.
White adjusts her cap, not allowing herself to be daunted by the massive fire breathing dragon standing only a few yards away from her. N was grinning, thinking that seeing her flustered and clumsy for once was a bit endearing. She was usually so confident and he hardly ever saw her make any mistakes. He furiously shook his head back and forth to himself. He shouldn't have any positive feelings towards her, she wanted to crush his dreams and imprison Pokemon in balls. He looks up to Reshiram, who is patiently awaiting his orders. White had just thrown in her Zekrom and the weight of the second dragon shakes the castle again, and he hears columns from the castle crumble behind him.
He pours all of his determination into his next command. "Reshiram, use Fusion Flare!" His voice rings strong and clear throughout the massive castle. He wondered to himself, if that was really his voice. It sounded so commanding, much like a king. A bit like his father, which N didn't like the resemblance he heard.
N bit the inside of his lip, willing the attack to hit as he watched Reshiram open its mouth to release the attack. Across the field, White's Zekrom braced itself for the attack. Reshiram released the giant fireball from it's mouth, and the fireball flew across the castle, heading straight for Zekrom.
White has to think fast, the fireball was soaring across the room. "Zekrom, dodge and use Bolt Strike!"
Zekrom roars in acknowledgment and tries to fly out of the way, but the huge fireball manages to graze the left side of his wing, burning it. Zekrom roars again in pain. The remainder of the fireball zings past White, nearly touching her. She cries out in surprise, and N is scared for a moment that she had gotten hurt, but was glad to see after a moment to see she was just fine. Zekrom fires the Bolt strike, the huge ball of energy and electricity zipping towards Reshiram.
"Reshiram, dodge!" Reshiram attempts to fly out of the path, but it wasn't fast enough. The Bolt Strike hits Reshiram and zaps its entire body as N cries out in pain of seeing his Pokemon friend hurt. The dragon roars and attempts to move, but the static left behind from the bolt has paralyzed it, and it can only shriek fiercely, unable to move.
N gasps, knowing this wasn't good. If Reshiram was paralyzed, it wouldn't be able to dodge any attacks. "Reshiram, fusion bolt!" He had hoped the Pokemon would be able to overpower the sparks, but Reshiram lets out a long cry of frustration as it is still paralyzed. It tugged at N's heartstrings to see the poor Pokemon unable to move.
White smirks, knowing the battle was now in her hands. "It's over, N! Zekrom, Use Bolt Strike!"
Zekrom lets out another Bolt Strike, and the poor Reshiram can do nothing but allow itself to be hit as it roared and roared in frustration as it tried to move. The bolt hits Reshiram square on, and the dragon faints upon impact.
N falls to his knees, a cry escaping from his lips.
Reshiram… No… It can't be… It's all over…
He returns the fallen Reshiram to his Pokeball as White also returns her Zekrom. N is still on his knees, staring down at the floor in defeat. He hears the loud rumbles from his castle as it begins to fall apart from the battles between the dragon.
It's falling apart… Everything is falling apart… A loose column from his castle falls over in the corner of the room, as if cementing his thoughts.
White began to rush to N just as the huge wooden castle doors open, causing her to halt in the middle of her tracks. Ghetsis appears from behind the door, his face twisted in absolute malice. He quickly makes his way to N, who is still on his knees.
"YOU USELESS PIECE OF SHIT!" Ghetsis punches N in the face, and N still continues to stare at the floor, like the punch hadn't even happened. White gasps and doesn't know how to remedy the situation. Ghetsis growled, not liking his punch going unnoticed, even though N's jaw was quickly growing red from it. "YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A FAILURE. I SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT YOU ON THE STREETS LIKE THE GARBAGE YOU ARE!" Ghetsis averts his furious gaze over to White, who is shaking in terror from the horrible man. "YOU LET THIS LITTLE BITCH BEAT YOU? I'LL BEAT HER AND PUT THIS WHORE IN HER PLACE!" Ghetsis looks back to N for any sort of response, but N is still on his knees like nothing had happened..
Finally, N whispers in a broken voice, "Father, please don't hurt her-" He was broken off mid sentence by the violent Ghetsis. "YOU THINK AFTER THIS SHIT YOU DESERVE TO CALL ME FATHER? ACTUALLY, YOU NEVER DESERVED IT. I NEVER ONCE THOUGHT OF YOU AS MY SON!" Ghetsis shakes his head furiously back and forth. "I raised you to perfection, you were to be the placeholder king that people would follow as I took over the world. But you couldn't even manage to beat this woman!"
N's already shattered heart breaks into even smaller pieces at this. He knew his father was not always happy with him, but he thought that after all he had done that Ghetsis would at least consider N his son.
Ghetsis ignores his broken son and angrily stomps towards White, his Pokeballs in hand. "Now, Battle me! I'll show you who the real leader of Team Plasma is! N was nothing but a pawn in my game to lure the legendary dragon… But he was still useless even in the end! I should have just left him where I found him." Ghetsis laughs insanely to himself as he throws his first Pokemon to the battlefield, not even giving White a moments notice. White throws in her Pokemon, having no other choice then to finish everything once and for all.
"White… No…" N whispers in a hoarse voice. He knew how strong his father was, and White's Pokemon were still damaged from their previous battle. But he could only watch as the intense fight unfolded between Ghetsis and White.
In the end, White was able to just barely defeat Ghestis. They couldn't stay in the castle much longer, it was falling apart from the inside out from all the crazy battles. Ghetsis had roared in defeat and called in his grunts.
"Grunts, get me out of this dump!" Ghetsis cries in anger. Many Plasma guards rush in. "But sir, shouldn't we bring our lord N with us as well?"
Ghetsis slaps the grunt in the face. "He is not fit to be the king of Team Plasma. I have no more use for him. Let's leave the garbage where it belongs and get the hell out of this place!" He barks out several more orders and in a few moments all of Team Plasma had evacuated the crumbling castle, leaving no one except for White and N. White wanted to chase after the grunts, but she figured the rest of the gym leaders and everyone else who had met up there would be able to take care of them. She was more worried about helping N first. He still hadn't moved...
N was still on his knees, in the same pose he had been in since White defeated him. The look on his face was heartbreaking. It was of a man whom had lost everything. Another rock falls from the castle nearby as White shakes N on the shoulder. "N… We need to get out of here, it isn't safe. The castle is falling apart."
Why does she care about my well being? Doesn't she hate me? I wanted to separate her from her precious Pokemon...My ideals were everything she hated. I lost the battle of truth and ideals, so I must be wrong. She is the true hero, and she has proven how the world is supposed to be. I should crumble and fall apart along with my castle.
He doesn't respond to her, lost in his own thoughts. She shakes his shoulder again from behind, more urgent this time as another column from the castle falls down. "N, we need to go now! I'm not leaving you here! It's dangerous!"
N speaks up in his broken voice. "Why does my well being matter to you? Don't you hate me? You should continue on your journey and get out of here while you still can… I have been proven wrong. You have shown me in battle that your ideals of Pokemon as companions is the right one."
She walks around to the front of him, and leans over so she can look him in the face and his is still on his knees. He looks up at her in confusion, wondering what she is doing.
White feels so bad for N. To her, he seemed like a wilted rose. He was beautiful, his love for Pokemon motivating his actions. He had his heart in the right place, he truly did care about Pokemon. He just wasn't raised in the right way, he had been tricked and lied to by Ghetsis. Everything was Ghetsis's fault. She wanted to be the one to tend to the wilted rose. She wanted the wilted rose to bloom for the first time so that it could thrive like it was supposed to. N deserved happiness.
She truly did believe his heart was in the right place. She could see why he wanted what he did. There were abused Pokemon everywhere, and there isn't always something you can do about it. You're not always there to be able to stop it, but there was always going to be a small percentage of imperfection in the world no matter what. What she honestly wanted was compromise. Full separation wasn't the answer, but she and N could work together to help abused Pokemon, if he was willing to compromise as well.
She learns forward more, getting on her knees as well and embracing N. He gasps, blushing. "N, I don't hate you. Your heart was in the right place… You truly believed liberation would make Pokemon the most happy. You don't deserve any hate. I don't agree with complete separation, but I also hate it when trainers abuse their Pokemon and I want to fix it. I respect how much you care for Pokemon..."
N had felt like someone finally understood him. Tears escape from his eyes as he leans his head over her shoulder as they embrace. White feels his tears on her shoulder and she smiles a little, happy he is letting it all out.
I wish I could hug her forever… I've never hugged anyone before, It feels so good… N leans more into the hug, his tears clouding his vision. His mind was a complete jumble, but he felt mostly happy.
White begins to lightly stroke his head as he continues to cry.
She is so kind… She always looks after her Pokemon so well, and she seems to care that I'm okay, even though Father always said I was a freak without a human heart... I wish I could spend all my time with White.
N's sobs begin to cease, and he gently pulls away from the embrace. He abruptly stands up, pulling his black and white cap down so it covers his eyes. "Make sure you get out of here safely… Thank you… Thank you for everything. White." White stares up at him as he turns around, heading towards the hole in the castle wall which lead to the outside. They were on the top floor, and White was worried as to how he would get out.
I don't deserve to spend time with someone so kind as White… I need to change… I lost the battle of truth and ideals. I started to realize at some point that many Pokemon are happy with their trainers… I was just too stubborn to realize it. Full Pokemon separation isn't the answer… I am selfish. I assumed the feelings of all Pokemon. And that is why I lost, and White won. I don't deserve to spend time with her… First, I need to change.
With a determined look on his face, N tossed out his Pokeball and released the revived Reshiram. N climbs onto the dragon and soars away from the crumbling castle, leaving everything behind him. Reshiram was now long gone, and the only proof it was ever there was the crumbling castle and the very distant roar she heard from it in the distance.
I need to get out of here and find N… He doesn't deserve any of this. He needs a chance at happiness. I don't want him to disappear…
White releases her Zekrom from his Pokeball and jumps up and climbs onto his back, and they fly up and away from the falling castle.
"Zekrom, this way!" White furiously points in the direction Reshiram had flown in a few minutes prior. Zekrom lets out a cry of acknowledgement as he flaps his wings faster as they soar through the skies.
N… White's thoughts are consumed of nothing but his broken and empty expression when she had defeated him at the castle. She wanted to find N and show him that the world wasn't how he thought it was. Pokemon enjoyed being with their trainers. Pokemon and people lived alongside happily together. He didn't have to go off alone. He didn't have to suffer.
N, I'm coming for you!
Thanks guys for reading! Please review and tell me what you think! Stay tuned for next chapter! :D

HE’S BEGUN TO EXPLORE THE ISLAND albeit at a snail’s pace, contrary to his usual rapidity of movement and speech; it feels perhaps safer and more cautious and more reasonable to do so when there is so little information for him to pick apart and make sense of right now. Zoroark has stayed with him somehow all this time, and while he is grateful to not have been separated, N does feel some guilt that one of his friends has been dragged with him into such a mess.
Still, it does make exploring less lonely. Not that he minds solitude, just -- well, he’d prefer not to be alone, that’s all. Not completely alone. That’s what he needs these days, anyway.
From a high hilltop, he cups his hands around his eyes in paltry imitation of binoculars he’d like to have. It’s more of a placebo effect than anything, but he does spy off in the distance something... strange. Winged? Bug-like? It’s far off enough that it is difficult to tell, but there seems to be another figure accompanying it of indiscernible gender. More important is that he wonders: could it possibly be a Pokemon?
There’s not much to do but run and find out. He’s out of breath running down the hill while trying to maintain balance and not go toppling downward. The ruins creep up on all sides, dilapidated, aging structures of indeterminate origin that he’d like to explore in more depth to better understand this ruined world, but his primary goal is to reach that figure --
Ah. The winged creature seems to have vanished, but there is a young man standing in the midst of it all, quietly and coolly gazing back at him. N is still out of breath, of course, but urgently trying to speak his piece. With a bit too much enthusiasm, most likely, not that he realizes.

<<Was there -- I saw -- perhaps it was only an elaborate trick of light refraction given the distance -- a Pokemon? Did you see it as well?>> He pauses in his rapid-fire speech only to keep trying to catch his breath.
