I remember when we were so proud of Shane and Ryan and Steven for breaking away from BuzzFeed and making their own channel, we were happy for them not just because we would keep getting content from them but because they could keep making their videos in a healthier environment that they created for themselves. The initial announcement to move behind a paywall felt like a slap in the face after that. Especially when a big part of their brand has been fan connection since the beginning (I don't know much about Stevens work but Shane and Ryan at least)

If they had just led with this revised version I don't think there would have been nearly as much, if any, of this (justified) pushback and outrage. I do hope they realize the gravity of their mistake. It was blatant disrespect to the fans that have gotten them where they are.
