"Scherz" is one letter away from the italian word for "joke"
Considering the whole "mini frogs are puns lol" thing, how does it feel being a Charachter with an Actual Narrative? <- someone with Protagonism (if i recall correctly) that would REALLY LOVE FOR THE CAST TO EXPAND. PLEASE, I CANT DO THIS ALONE. I JUST WANNA MINECRAFT-
"Scherz" is zero letters away from the German word for "Joke". In that it is the German word for joke. As I was so often reminded in my youth. SUCK IT HATERS
Well, as someone who successfully survived the years since 2019 when we published Mini and the Gang™, and found out that they may have, like, 50 more years to live, it is a little frustrating to have peaked at 27. I guess I have 50 years of trying to chase and reproduce that elation. What madness will this result in? Stick around to find out!

okay punk hazard was a bit shorter than I expected but still fun. and my two favorite things wrt zolu in this arc were:
1) getting to see a lil bit more of luffy and zoro as a chaotic, ride or die duo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
zoro claiming he can just slice a whole ass dragon in half, luffy having absolutely no doubt that he can do it and actively encouraging him with a bit of help of his own, then both of them talking mid air about how tasty it looks/how to cook it? peak crazy dumbass x crazy dumbass behavior.
it was also cute and funny how robin immediately (correctly) assumed zoro would carry luffy across the water and that, well, it kinda ended up happening as it was zoro holding onto luffy when they fell in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) THIS ENTIRE PAGE
Tumblr media
(this is gonna get a bit long oops)
the thing about zoro is that he can be a big softie. he cares a lot more than ppl might think at first glance, and he worries. especially where luffy's concerned, even if his words can seem harsh at times. for all that zoro definitely trusts luffy's strength and believes in him, he worries for luffy's safety anyway. one example of this is back in alabasta when sanji points out that zoro was worried luffy might lose to crocodile despite having agreed with luffy's decision to stay behind and confront him alone.
zoro's also very aware that luffy's not really infallible, that he's got shortcomings and weaknesses of his own. but that's not an issue per se - because zoro's willing to make up for them, for luffy's sake. like in thriller bark, when he leads and convinces the crew to protect luffy's shadow and to believe that luffy would take care of everything else:
Tumblr media
on top of that, zoro takes luffy, the crew and his own role in it very seriously and something he expects from them and from luffy, especially, is to do the same. this is clearly seen back in water 7/enies lobby when zoro refuses to accept usopp back into their group unless he genuinely apologizes first and even threatens to leave if luffy doesn't square up to be/act like the captain he is. because luffy's the captain, they rely on him and he's responsible for the crew in turn. more so since, as zoro reminds him, they aren't playing at being pirates. at this point in the story, they've gone through different adventures together, fought and risked their lives each time as well.
aaand to go back to thriller bark for a bit, zoro's also the one person in the crew who has first hand experience with the kind of pain that luffy endures for other ppl's sake. all in all, zoro truly cares about luffy, so much that he's willing to put his dreams and life aside to protect him, and by extension, the rest of the straw hats too. part of that care includes not only sacrifices like the one on thriller bark, but also anchoring luffy and setting him on the right path if needed. that scene from punk hazard? an example and byproduct of all this.
though I gotta say, perhaps what I like the most is that luffy... actually listens to zoro whenever these important moments happen. those two share a single braincell and are usually on a similar (or the same) goofy wavelength most of the time, and zoro is often one of luffy's enablers, so you can see that when zoro goes off at him for real like in water 7 or at punk hazard, luffy is surprised at first. but he listens. and in punk hazard, apologizes and reassures zoro that he won't be careless again. it's a bit of a subtle but compelling part of their dynamic, that does well to emphasize the equal footing and reciprocal nature of their relationship. it's not zoro following along blindly, nor is it luffy just being an idiot and receiving undeserved loyalty. it's really good honestly.

Reading Little Lucky AU while being on Thriller Bark has me rolling just imagining a small child running around. One who's seen enough crazy stuff go down to maybe not even think zombies or talking skeletons are that scary in the first place. Either that or she acclimates pretty quickly since everyone (+ I imagine she'd be with the main party rather than Nami/Usopp/and Chopper?) who's not freaking out over everything is with her.
If she were to somehow get caught (the group is rampaging even worse than before) Perona finding them the cutest thing ever. Then getting absolutely offended when her silly laugh gets called out. I imagine Moria only laughs more if she does the same to him. while Hogback (if Lucky calls it out in a nicer way like saying she likes their laughs because they're silly) asks Chindry why she can't be more like that only to get the meanest comment yet and Lucky is like, "that's not nice 😡" and it suddenly becomes a fight between Perona and Hogback on who gets the shadow. Perona may have been offended, but she's freaking adorable and Hogback needs at least one person who'll be nice to him in the mansion lmao. The only reason I could see absalom wanting the shadow is to maybe try distracting Lola from actively chasing him with the idea of a child but I also don't think he'd want to add fuel that that fire so he'd maybe make a gross comment about when she's older but, like in your Strays AU post, Perona would kick his ass for it.
I almost wonder if Moria might be hesitant to take a kid's, especially such a small ones, shadow. Doesn't seem like it'd make a very useful underling and honestly, it's not the most boring thing in the world having a kid around (Moria taking care of and playing with a young Perona makes my heart melt it's so cute) and the others can always take care of anything he's too lazy to. Plus, if she ever starts whining about missing her old crew, they can just round up the zombies with their shadows, kid probably won't know the difference. So... yea. Not like she can cause much of any harm anyway.
And suddenly, Lucky has control over her own little zombie hoard that aren't exactly top fighters but will at least keep her away from the Srawhats. Honestly, the zombies hoard at her beck and command is probably the only reason she isn't actively demanding the Strawhats shadows back 24/7. It's like a bunch of new friends to play with and Perona lets her play with her cute zombies and throws a pretty sweet tea party, so at least she's safe?
I also love Kaku kidnapping her while being like, "I may commit terrible atrocities, but this is clearly child endangerment." Peak content 😂
I haven't finished that arc yet, but I have a couple of ideas rolling around for it
I also am leaning towards her being in the main party, great minds think alike I suppose. When Lucky doesn't know how to react to something, her first go to is to see how Luffy is reacting and go from there, so she's honestly having a great old time. If Luffy isn't scared, she won't be either.
Perona absolutely snatches her up. She loves cute things, and the second that Little Lucky calls one of her ghosts cute, she's making plans to go get her.
I'm imagining this interaction between Perona and Moria where she strolls in and asks where he keeps all of her old clothing from when she was a kid. He asks why she could possibly want any of that stuff now, and she just holds up Little Lucky like 'I found this baby and I'm keeping her'. Moria recalls how he got Perona and nods. That is how children are typically acquired in his experience. The clothes are in that closet over there, have fun you two!
I am going to give Absalom a tiny bit of credit and say that I don't think he would make a pass at a four year old, but he may approach her to ask if she wants to be the flower girl at his and Nami's wedding. Perona would reluctantly agree to this because he has a point, she would make an adorable flower girl.
Little Lucky is demanding to know why Nami didn't tell her she was getting married, and Nami has to find a child-friendly way to explain that she is here against her will. Sanji comes in and has to take a couple of minutes to take pictures of Little Lucky in her flower girl dress before getting down to business and beating the shit out of Absalom.
I think it would be funny to let Little Lucky have an all around fun time in Thriller Bark to contrast how shitty it goes for adult Lucky in Lucky Break.
And yes, Kaku may be an assassin, but he has standards lmao

Film Review - The Hunger Games
In many ways, The Hunger Games film is all the spectacle the book warned against. Within the story, the Games themselves were a blockbuster, the biggest entertainment event of the year in the consumerism-crazy Capitol. The film is a blockbuster not only because of the wild success of the books, but by reaching a broader audience with the action scenes, glamorous photo shoots, settings, and celebrity actors. Visually, the cinematography is innovative, colorful, and dynamic. Had the movie gone into as much gritty detail about poverty and pain as the books, as well as showing more of Katniss’ unlikeable traits that were smoothed out in the film, I don’t believe it would have had such mass market appeal. Book and film markets have different criteria, after all.
Katniss is a strong and appealing protagonist, which is vital to any successful story. The high stakes and romantic elements mean nothing if you don’t care about the central character. The books and movie were my first experience with a story about a girl that people of all genders in my class were excited about. I recall when the movies were first being developed. I was around eleven years old and had just read the books, and I was so excited to see previews and read magazines about the making of the film. I dressed as Katniss for Halloween and remember visiting a friend and reenacting the Games with our toys. For a young adult in the target audience, it was a fun adventure story, even if it made you cry sometimes.
As an adult, I see this very much was not in line with the message of the story, but don’t mistake me for a cynic. The thriller elements are what make it appealing and successful. For a story to endure the ages, it must captivate the audience’s attention. Fans of the books were blown away to see the danger, unique setting, and the characters they love brought to life. The stakes are high—it’s a matter of life and death not only for Katniss, but for her family. The entire story is a struggle for survival, not only in the arena, but against hunger and the Capitol’s harsh punishments for stepping out of line. Something else interesting about the film which adds to the thriller aspect is how it has a different point of view than the books. The book had a limited first person point of view, whilst the film showed things happening in the Gamemakers’ offices and from President Snow’s viewpoint. Seneca Crane’s death was changed for irony and a stronger visual scene. This fills in some gaps in the worldbuilding that don’t translate well from a book, but also, a film audience wants to be privy to the action.
Many of the parts of the book that were slower-paced didn’t make it into the film. Katniss’ friend Madge is cut, and Katniss’ struggles with her relationship with her mother are shortened. During the games, there’s no time in the film for Katniss’ slow struggle with dehydration, or to linger on Katniss’ and Peeta’s recovery from the infected wounds and blood loss. Honestly, those slower scenes are some of my favorite parts of the book for how they show the struggle for humanity behind the spectacle. In many ways, the movie sanitizes the books and makes them more palatable for a wider audience. The desolate poverty of the Seam isn’t shown in too great detail. Katniss in the book has a darker complexion and shows the scars of a hard life. I wouldn’t want a real actress to endure a dangerous lifestyle to have a certain body type or “method act” trauma, but I still feel there was an emphasis on physical attractiveness of the characters typical of visual media.
This segues into my final point—the way the film and the resulting media storm honed in on the romance elements. A love triangle is a surefire way to generate buzz. However, the romance in the book was scary, with Katniss’ and Peeta’s relationship founded by a struggle for survival that went back from the boy with the bread all the way to faking it for the favor of the audience. The film audience stands in for the Capitol audience. The younger adult viewers have attractive actors to admire in the roles of the characters, with “Team Peeta vs Team Gale” being a popular phenomenon at the time when the movie first came out. I personally don’t like focusing on the romance because it misses the point of the story even more than the cutting of the slower-paced scenes does, but I can’t deny it’s part of the reason this was a blockbuster.
For better or worse, the success of The Hunger Games film launched the market for books and movies in the YA dystopia subgenre (that is, until the Divergent trilogy brought the demand to an unglorious end). It’s most certainly a good thing that there are more female action protagonists as a result of the success of The Hunger Games. Despite the elements of the book that were cut to make the film more of a blockbuster, the film remains a moving story with unique thriller elements that makes the audience care about the characters and desire to see them triumph over perilously high stakes. Everyone loves a story about an underdog overcoming an oppressive ruler. It's a classic plot structure that has endured the ages for a reason. I hope kids keep wanting to dress up as Katniss and play out elaborate thrillers with their Barbies. It really is a rite of passage of childhood.

2023 Dramas I Watched in 2023
Cdramas:
A League of Nobleman--Slashy historical mystery drama. I loved all the slashiness and all the intrigue and then in the last few episodes I fell even more in love with the villain. Worth a watch but not my favorite slashy historical mystery of the year.
Mysterious Lotus Casebook--My favorite slashy historical mystery drama of the year! Tho more wuxia than historical I suppose. Bromance and archnemeses and identity porn abound. The identity porn in particular was a special treat for me; a character wandering around all these ppl who care deeply about him or idolize him but all think he's dead is my catnip. (I technically have a few episodes left to go on this one but I'm still counting it bc I am very close.)
Parallel World--YE LIUXI. I did a review of this one here! The short version: urban fantasy and parallel worlds in a desert setting, with a badass amnesiac female protagonist.
The Lady and the Lies--Miniseries, one of those short-episode things that China's doing a lot of now. Involved a cheating husband and a wife out to get revenge. I'm sorry but I shipped the wife with almost every person doing her wrong. She should destroy their lives and also dom them. They're all kind of obsessed with her anyway, in their own way.
Under the Microscope--You ever sit down and say, "Okay, but what I REALLY want from all these historical dramas is to just dig into the tax fraud going on in the background"? Me too, my friend. This show and Long River, which I also watched this year, are all about logistics, bureaucracy, and corruption, and the small man's struggle against ppl in power. That makes them both kind of difficult watches in a way, but also fascinating. I have yet to finish Long River, but this one is an easy 14 episodes and not as emotionally draining, so it was much easier for me to binge through.
Ye Cheng--I must admit I watched this for the pretty people. It's set in a matriarchal fantasy wuxia setting, but the gender role reversal feels a little shallow when the strongest good guy and the strongest bad guy are both men, even tho in theory women are supposed to be the warriors in this setting. However, the role reversal can be quite interesting in some ways--watching the male MC run a brothel as the city's top entertainer, try to use his ~masculine wiles~ to charm the FMC in a way that would be more typically feminine, and deal with the power dynamics of joining the FMC's household. Also, the two leads are just a lot of fun and have a lot of chemistry. The plot is sometimes stupid, but it's still a lot of fun to watch. Also, this was one of just two dramas I managed to finish this year that were mostly romance focused. When you reach the "dropped" section you will see that this is an impressive feat.
Kdramas:
Bloodhounds--I love Woo Do-hwan and I love Park Sung-woong but you know I was here for the ACTION SCENES. PEOPLE PUNCHING EACH OTHER AND SLICING EACH OTHER WITH KNIVES. THATS WHAT ITS ABOUT. I've also written a lot of fanfic about the protagonist and villain at this point but honestly they should have interacted more, we were robbed.
Queen of Masks--The only rich woman thriller kdrama I completed this year. But honestly, when it comes to rich woman thriller kdramas, I've seen better and femslashier. Mine did a better job with the whole "your husband told you the mother of his child was dead, but guess what it's actually me and I'm still alive and here to cause problems" plotline, tho I still enjoyed it here. And the sexual assault aspect... eh. I don't love seeing that kind of plotline in a revenge story; it's such a serious issue (and so much more realistic than, say, "this businessman murdered my whole family to acquire our company" a la Eve) that it kind of makes it hard for me to enjoy the fun of the mystery. But I suppose the way they handled it at least had gravity. My favorite plotline was Hae-mi and her husband and the drama they got into, which is serious in its own way (addiction and lies) but extremely well acted and with so much romantic chemistry.
Revenant--Spooky spooky ghosts and Kim Tae-ri, what's not to like? The possession aspects were creepy without being gory or too terrifying for a wimp like me to handle. The acting was great. And I actually shipped the sort-of-romantic subplot, though apparently a lot of ppl shipped the two MCs instead, which is understandable.
Song of the Bandits--A whole ton of gunfighting and other action scenes. One very badass assassin woman, a dude who is equally capable of taking out a whole squad of soldiers or bandits on his own, a villain with a complicated relationship with the dude above, and a woman spying on the Japanese government who's in a sort of spy love triangle with the MC and the villain. the plot was okay but again I was mostly here for the action!!
Thai dramas:
My Dear Gangster Oppa--This year I tried to watch a bunch of different BL dramas bc I was in that kind of mood but the truth is, it's not the het that gets me in m/f romcoms, it's unfortunately the romcom. Despite that! I persisted and did manage to finish this one. The lead couple was cute, and there was gangster intrigue and action etc to keep the fluff and comedy from driving me insane. still mostly a romance.
To Sir With Love--Also has a BL romance in it but not really a romance drama but a Family Drama with lots of familial plotting, the classic first wife vs. second wife scheming-for-their-children plotline along with what could have been a love triangle between brothers... except Tian is gay, which means the love triangle is null (except he's still engaged to his brother's love interest. which is awkward for all involved.). Also Tian being gay is a Deep Dark Secret. There's a lot of homophobia which might turn some viewers off but I loved seeing Tian's struggle between wanting to come out and having been forced to stay in the closet for so long that he freezes even at the thought of telling people he trusts. Also his mother commits a bunch of murders with terrible poison mushrooms so if THAT'S what you want out of a Thai drama, there is also that. Also he and his brother are. so sweet. and I love them. but also the central m/m romance is very good and involves assassination attempts and identity porn and pining and everything good. Also also this is actually a 2022 drama BUT IM STILL COUNTING IT bc it came out in October 2022 and am I really supposed to get around to watching dramas that fast??
Started and dropped:
Kiseki: Dear to Me--Even gangsters and intrigue could not save me from dropping this romcom.
Our Blooming Youth--This is also a romcom. You may see a pattern here. But to give it credit it is quite a plotty historical drama too. I just didn't really care about the two leads and dropped it halfway through.
Pandora: Beneath the Paradise--A thriller that was going places a bit too wild and frustrating for me.
Killing Vote--Can you believe I dropped this with only four episodes to go? I'm sorry Park Sung-woong, I love you but the plot is just so boring. And it plays at moral complexity while being just. not very complex. Like I swear the morality in this thing is "catching bad guys and punishing them is good, not catching them and not punishing them is bad." We could be talking about police corruption, our MC's terrible ethics, innocence until proven guilty, and so on and so forth, but we were just not going there. Also the twists were doing very little for me and the cops are just not very interesting characters. Again, Park Sung-woong, I'm sorry, you were a decent character but you could not save this show. Let's be real I needed either more Devil Judge here or more Death Note.
Legend of Anle--The romcom element was not helping this show's case but I still tried for 1) wuxia with identity porn and 2) Dilraba Dilmurat costarring with Gong Jun. Unfortunately those two had no chemistry and the plot was just very unsatisfying for me in the political intrigue area. One example: Gong Jun can't find the supplies needed to pacify a near-rioting mob. But that's okay bc Anle's subordinates found it. How did they find the super secret hidden storehouse?? we don't know and will never find out bc it was offscreen and never explained. They just did. this would be fine if it weren't, like, the climax of the episode and presented as a victory of the two MC's brilliance. I can't deal with this.
Naughty Babe--It's. A romcom. I'm so sorry I probably should just stop trying.
Other romcoms I quit too fast to give a fair opinion: You Are Mine, Extremely Perilous Love, My Lethal Man, Taikan Yoho.
Well, there you have it, 2023 dramas I watched in 2023.
Fun as it was, I think in 2024 I'm going to try to catch up more with older dramas lols.
Did y'all watch any of these dramas this year?

swifties on twitter are beyond insufferable. i literally cannot stand them. as you may know both beyonce and ariana dropped an album this year. and both of them didn't get as much streams than taylor swift torturted table dance apartment the first day. and i was like? who cares about that. maybe they just enjoy the music and aren't so obsessed with charts and streaming. and if they do chart they are happy for them because they know it happened naturally. and even when beyonces cowboy carter dropped these swirats where in the comments being like ttptsd will outsell. like stfu. omg.
300mill streams the first day does not mean she has 300mill people who stream her shit. literally it could just mean she has alot of chart obsessed fans like she is, because taylor is projecting her persona onto her fanbase. i'm 80% certain that many of her fans don't even care if her music is good they just care that it charts. so they gonna create long ass playlists with her album to get those streams up. do it on multiple devices and accounts do it overnight et voilà highest day debut ever.
do they really think that anyone in the general public actually knows these songs? fornite is not a hit song. nobody cares about this song and it will be forgotten eventually. smooth criminal never went to no1 but is still a bigger hit. ( There were also different rules back then to get a song to chart.)
chart placement don't mean shit if the same fanbase just massstream your songs and the public has no idea what these songs are. if people outside the fanbase don't know these songs, it's not gonna stay and it'll won't have an impact and you can guarantee the longevity won't be there.
and honestly it does make sense why her fans are so chart obsessed. because taylor is like that herself. her fans feel themselves into taylor. so if Taylor wins an award it's not just that she wins that is that these losers have won one too. that's why they act to defensive about her because they project their loserness onto her. taylor swift is the y/n in a wattpad story if you may like.
the thing is also imagine if michael jackson moved like that in the 80's like taylor does now. he pulled away at his peak. but imagine if after thriller and the grammys he immediately starts annoucing an other album, did the thriller tour ( because he didn't even do that it was one with his brothers), did multiple versions of thriller etc.... shit would have been horrible for the others. and I don't mean that in a that other artists were terrible type of way. but he was the most popular and famous person back then. (or even now). so when swifties gonna compare these two. it's like. they compare a chart obsessed woman who constantly drops shit does multiple versions to a man who dropped an album maybe like every 4 years rarely gave any interviews and did 3 šolo tours in his lifetime. taylor wouldn't be that big if she was acting the same like he was. and thriller would be at 300milliion if he acted they way she does.
also beyonce. in 2010. Her career started in the 90's. she also started to pull away because she felt overexposed. and now she just enjoys making music.
i know you’re talking about taylor swift but this is such an amazing analysis on stan culture and their obsession with “charting” like i just want to give you your flowers for that. that was an incredible read
swifties obsession with charting is why they think taylor swift is an icon/legend/once in a generation artist. her economic prowess is unprecedented but it takes more than $$$ to become a cultural icon. rihanna is one of the most successful artists of all time but what truly cemented her icon status was her FENTY makeup + FENTY X SAVAGE clothing lines. swifties obsess over numbers (charts, awards, tour gross etc) because there is no ORGANIC mass cultural praise for her. there simply isn’t.
“taylor swift is their y/n in a wattpad story if you may like” perfect one liner to understand her mass popularity. i say this with full mal intent but every swiftie is an unremarkable painfully average human being who sees taylor and is reminded they could be massively successful for being painfully average too. i know that’s mean but if you’re an inoffensive as taylor markets herself to be then you’re just as unremarkable as well. doesn’t matter how much you yearn or identify with her music. seriously this blog is not a space for recovering ex swifties idgaf about you guys 😭
your MJ analysis is spot on but MJ is the most successful commercial artist dead or alive. if he did what taylor is doing he would be so untouchable commercially people would just exclude him from the top 10 lists of successful artists. what taylor is doing is exploiting + artificially boosting her wealth to secure that #1 spot. idgaf that the rereleases have songs “from the vault” she’s still releasing the same 13 song tracklist which is usually worse in both vocals and production.
also what people forget is that she still gets her royalties from the original album releases. she just gets higher/near 100% royalties from her rereleases because she completely owns them.
about Beyoncé and MJ: Swifties have this STRANGE TREND where they only compare Taylor to SUCCESSFUL BLACK ARTISTS. They NEVER compare her to Madonna. Swiftie antiblackness (because what else could you call this) is unmatched.

What's the funniest or craziest AU idea you've ever come up with?
Apologies for taking a bit to get around to this- had a very busy weekend and needed a day or two to recoup jdjdjddj
But Ouughghghgh you’re making me think here cause I’ve got so many in my head that have never seen the light of day djhfdjdjdj
It’ll all be under the cut cause I *will* be unapologetically neurodiverse about this vvv
A bit suggestive but nothing explicit - and not one of mine but is far more entertaining than anything I’ve come up with since I’m an angst whore™️ jdhdhdhr was probably a silly strip club au that an old mutual of mine back in 2020 brainstormed. If I remember correctly it was something like the autobots and deceptions ran competing strip clubs and of course the deceptions wore bedazzled and glittery speedos and booty shorts and were slay as fuck sjdhdhdh
There wasn’t much to it other than that, the deceptions slayed and that’s what I cared about most iedniencein
Otherwise-
My craziest (crazy in the sense that, this-is-the-thing-I’ve-thought-most-about-and-put-the-most-effort-in-because-holy-shit-everything-fits-so-perfectly-and-you-can-tell-this-is-peak-fandom-crossover-indulgence djnfjeehbd) is my TarnMaRat Phantom of the Opera inspired AU. Spoilers ahead for mtmte and Lost light just in case too.
I’m not the first person to see the parallels between the Phantom and Tarn absolutely not (there’s actually a gorgeous Tarn print I’ve found on eBay of him as Phantom that I will put the link to here), but I *might* be the first (still highly unlikely with how old this fan base is sjchdjdj) to see the parallels between Christine and Pharma and Raoul and Ratchet (and many other characters who I’ve found a way to weave them into for the sake of this AU jdjxjd)
For example, Christine is stuck in a ‘no-good-way-out’ situation due to the manipulation of a man who threatens those she loves if his terms aren’t obeyed. Very easy to see the parallels between Pharma’s situation on Delphi and how he had to steal t-cogs in order to keep him and his staff safe from the DJD. But even Christine’s deteriorating mental state throughout the musical is very similar to Pharma’s through out the Delphi arc. She’s a fairly isolated individual whose mainly only known the Opera for most of her life, she’s been trained to be the next big star by the Phantom and is pretty suddenly thrust into said position to the point she becomes very overwhelmed when things begin to get more and more complicated and terrifying with her understanding of her ‘angel of music’ and the world in turn. Just like how Pharma suddenly found the DJD on his doorstep one day and was suddenly a t-cog supplier to one of the most deadly decepticons and had to start managing how to keep supplies coming in, keep his staff safe AND possibly find a way out of said situation that might get him and the others out as safely as possible. Which causes him to isolate the Delphi station from everyone until First Aid calls for Ratchet. Also very similar to Christine, they both latched onto people from their past who they felt safe with, possibly thinking they could protect them or help them.
That’s only a taste of the analysis I’ve done of these characters cause I didn’t even get onto Ratchet and Raouls ego complex’s or Tarn’s obsessive behaviours over Megatron, that, for the sake of the AU, I switched up to an obsession over Pharma to better suit the parrells between Phantoms obsession with Christine eunceicheuhc
Instead of this au being a ‘I just put these characters in the other characters place so yay! The robots do opera now lol’, I instead took the same storyline and applied it to the Delphi arc and mish mashed things in from the Lost Light comics too. Honestly this would probably make a really good psychological thriller fic the more I think about it iendiencein
Some of this is still pretty wibbly-wobbly but the basic gist is that Pharma is still running the Delphi site but for a much longer indeterminate amount of time so he’s kinda known as the Doctor who runs Delphi. He was thrust into the position straight after graduating med school (cybertronians still have to go to med school for this shit right??? DJXJDJDJ) to match the overwhelming nature of Christine’s position as Diva. Delphi is also a much larger hospital in this AU with a reputation for 50% of its patients going missing/dying/etc, causing it to be severely underfunded, but somehow still able to run and operate. Which later when Ratchet pops around (since I’d like to think this whole AU would be from Ratchet’s perspective, again, very similarly to the Delphi arc in the comics, to increase the level of horror and mystique around Delphi) learns it’s due to the DJD’s involvement who have been uncharacteristically generous to the hospital. Which later Ratchet learns is because Pharma treated a mech by the name of Damus back in the day when the hospital’s mortality rate was much lower. A mech who mysteriously keeps appearing in hospital records for coming in for treatment of seemingly superficial injuries, notes specifying that he’d always request for Pharma, until these appearances just stop one day out of the blue. And the mortality suddenly spikes a few months later.
The rest of the AU is basically ratchet figuring out the mysterys of Delphi while also trying to find a way to get Pharma and co out of this situation as more and more important characters (sorry, Ambulon doesn’t make it in this universe either jcjdjdjd) are killed off by Tarn. With background Pharat and a one-sided Tarnma.
I’d love to do more with this AU in the future whenever my next bout of creativity is, I have so many feelings about them all🥺🥺🥺💞💞💞

Candela Obscura S2 - Thoughts So Far
Spoiler-Free!
i had the pleasure of seeing the premiere in theatres and it was PHENOMENAL. im gonna get right into it.
first off! you don’t necessarily have to watch the first season. i think you’ll have a bit of a better grasp on things and it’s also just fucking fantastic so i highly recommend. but no, you don’t have to in order to enjoy this campaign.
everyone embodies their characters so well. you can absolutely feel the love and detail put into them. you can feel them getting into their roles as the episode goes on and by the end, you’re completely attached.
it definitely starts off a lot quicker than season 1. we get right into the good stuff with a cold open directly to action. it starts off strong and ends with a bang.
HELL of a first episode, i’ll tell you that.
the vibe is definitely different from matthew mercer’s campaign. spenser has a unique GM style that took a minute to get used to. threwe off a bit at first, but i think it fits the narrative so far.
i pulled together an auggie cosplay just for the hell of it. did some makeup inspired by s1e3 and got dolled up in my best paperboy attire.
unfortunately i was literally the only one dressed up (+ my sibling in just general dark academia clothing). i also had to walk around a very busy store beforehand. so that was a bit awkward but honestly, i was so excited i didn’t care.
all in all, it was incredible. if you enjoyed the first season or are into any kind of body horror or thrillers, give it a try.
and now.. for the details.
SPOILERS under the cut!
i cant wait to see more of their backstories. im super happy with the amount of backstory we got this episode. not too much or too little. just enough to be intriguing and get you invested, while still leaving some mystery.
starting the episode into immediate action was a bit off putting, ngl. i was startled by the pretty significant difference in how spenser is GMs in contrast to matt. i adore his play style but it took a second to get used to. as the episode progressed i could tell it was working really well for this campaign, which is pleasing.
im immediately drawn to sean and marion. i loved auggie and have a fixation on newsies so i obviously have a specific character type i enjoy LMAO. their personalities and interactions with everyone are fantastic.
the PTSD-flashback-type scenes were a great addition imo. it added a lot to their characters. plus that interaction when marion gets his scar? 100/10, gorgeous, tore me apart. i will be watching that scene again when it gets posted and that is a threat.
marion’s breakdown shattered my heart and the other party members had such interesting reactions. im hoping we have more moments like that sprinkled throughout.
of course i love everyone so far. auntie b’s complex history with each party member, nathaniel’s bits of family history, jean’s struggle beginning to shine through, sean’s internal battle with trauma / vague history, marion’s conflict with his own abilities… its all so good.
needless to say i think we’re going to be fed well this season.
my sibling was crying during a few parts but i only really teared up when jean said goodbye to her dad. i knew it was coming but damn it still tugged at my heartstrings.
that entire last scene was just so. GOOD. the entire theatre was losing their fucking minds. you could hear whispering, gasping, nervous giggling. jean’s gilded 6 was wild.
my favorite part of the night was probably when jean was investigating the body and pulled an eye from his heart. as spenser revealed what she found, a loud cough/hacking sound came from the back of the theatre.
you could tell it was probably just a coincidence but after a few seconds of silence people started to laugh. it was just a silly moment that made me really appreciate the atmosphere. as someone who rarely watches films in theatre (or at all tbh), it was a pleasant experience.
anyway i fucking LOVE co and have not stopped thinking about it since the last season ended. so i am very obviously hyped. cant wait to see whats next!
spenser sparke, taliesin jaffe, chris lockey, shaun ellis, matthew mercer, the party members of both seasons, and everyone else who has had a hand in this series — thank you. youve created something viscerally beautiful.

your sweet svt drabbles are such an inspiration to me. I've been getting into writing fics slowly by writing just short ones off a single scenario, and i have too many prompts and ideas coming from my head (which is great !) that i already had laid out but i just couldn't find thee tempo to start. Soo I'm trying to get more inspo by reading around tumblr and to my luck i landed here! i found your writing style an exemplar to how i wanted to write (bonus if you'd like to give some writing tips? 🥹). Your drabbles looked effortlessly written, they're simple yet so expressive and visually evocative. Reading them makes me feel like it's easy to just get the idea off my head and picture it in words OK I'LL STOP HASJB it's literally midnight o clock (when the strong urge to give one of my prompts a shot kicks in)
aaaaaAAA AND IF I START CRYIN????
honestly i dont rly know if i have any solid writing tips haha i like reading a lot since it can teach me a lot abt what i like in writing and what i dislike!! + reading helps u pick up on how other ppl describe things and how their writing flow. idk if that makes sense though. like... book i just finished (a death in tokyo) is very to the point and practical with its writing. it was written in a way that i could clearly envision a lot of things and my mind would fill in the holes since its set in a real world setting. other stuff i read might take care in describing things in more detail, but reading higashino's work kinda made me understand further how just plainly stating things can have its own power and paint a picture just as well--just depends on what you're writing and what kind of vibe it should have, yknow?
like. i wouldn't expect a thriller to have the same writing flow as a romance novel, but the gritty details can still have importance depending on what the topic is. little things like that. genuinely, imo, the best writers are those who read a lot and my advice is rly just to kinda read everything u feel safe w reading!!!
also i think ive said this a lot on wooahaes but ive also been writing since i was like. 11. if not younger lol so ive had a looooootta time to practice and refine and get to where i am now and i'll still be improving into the future hopefully!!!
other than that... hmm...
i'll admit this one isn't something everyone can do (and obvs no shame to ppl who can't!) but i always try to envision the space i'm writing and the people within it.
i think for me personally, i care a lot about the physicality of whoever i'm writing? if they're nervous, are they acting shifty? are they wringing their hands? is this a situation they want to get out of, or are they nervous because they're kinda excited for what's to come? how are they vocally, too? are they the kind of person who rambles when they're nervous, or do they get really quiet? is it obvious, or will it seem normal if they're quiet/chatty?
like... with the mark lee drabble where he's nervously dragging out the question of "what if we kissed?" it was kinda important to me to just kinda have him dragging it out because once he says it, there's no way to take it back, and once he says it, the nerves take over in a "and now i must ramble, lets talk about anything but what i just said, so the aquarium-" where even though we don't SEE mark, we still can tell he's a nervous wreck over it all. its little things like that that just kinda stick out to me?
mmm but for my drabbles specifically... i think i kinda function off the fact that i'm not writing an actual fic here? if i wanted to write something longer, i'd put it on wooahaes (and sometimes i do! i've had a couple fics now i was gonna just post as a drabble but then they kinda ran away from me). i've deleted parts of drabbles before because i felt like they were getting too irrelevant. the point of a drabble, to me personally, is to just kinda give somewhat a quick snapshot of a moment. i think my stuff usually takes place in a single place as far i can remember, because changing scenes makes it feel like a bigger thing (barring stuff where there was a short flashback).
i think it can help to have an idea of what you want to capture if you're writing a short drabble. reader/seungkwan caring for one another, minho teasing reader over the cats, reader trying to get one over on joshua (ft seungkwan). occasionally the more fantasy-ish stuff is like "merfolk reader in love w jisung" and "merfolk reader saving minho" or "android!shua being saved from the facility by reader" comes to me, too. i just kinda write purely by vibes and what i wanna write. idk if this helps but i usually do try to have some idea of what exactly i wanna do!! the times i have opened a post and closed it again bc i had nothing..................................... yeah
(obvs no shame in those moments ksdhfds i just always end up sitting there like. what was i doing again.)
ummm idk what else to say!! i can always try to give advice on other stuff if u ever have specific questions but this is all ive got rn <3 good luck!!!!! i believe in u!!!!!!!!

The Girl With All The Gifts by M. R. Carey
Melanie is a very special girl. Dr. Caldwell calls her “our little genius.” Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into a wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite. But they don’t laugh.
Where to begin…
This book follows five different characters from their own individual points of view (a seemingly common theme in the books I pick off the shelf to read). Caught in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, the five characters find themselves escaping together when their base is under attack. The zombies (or “hungries”) are a unique take on the otherwise overused horror trope. The defining difference? They’re conscious.
M. R. Carey does a phenomenal job at giving a unique voice to each of the main characters. I always fear that books with multiple POVs will end up with characters that all sound the same. This is absolutely not the case in The Girl With All The Gifts. Each character has their own personal motivation to everything they think do, say and think.
Melanie, a little girl who is unaware of the fact that she has contracted / been infected by a zombie virus, lives and breathes for knowledge and for the person that gives it to her, Miss Helen Justineau. In the beginning, her life consists of two things, Miss Justineau and the soldiers that strap her into a wheelchair to take her to a classroom from her locked cell room. She has no idea why people around her fear or dislike her, but is glad that Miss Justineau treats her kindly. To say that Melanie loves her teacher more than anything would be an understatement; she worships her.
Miss Justineau is not only Melanie’s teacher, but also the psychologist at the base that is holding Melanie and all the other hungries. Her genuine care, and compassion not only for Melanie, but for the others stuck in a hellish journey with her becomes very apparent as the story unfolds. Miss Justineau is a beacon of hope for Melanie and a great example of human kindness.
Dr. Caroline Caldwell is a scientist determined to study the infection in search of a cure. Her medical knowledge is a noteworthy difference from the other characters when reading her point of view. She conducts basic experimentation on the hungries in the name of science. Her determination to discover the truth sometimes makes her apathetic, or rather unwilling, to acknowledge the more human attributes that Melanie retains. Her true ruthless character is further revealed as the story continues.
Sergeant Parks is a military man with a long experience in hostile territories. He has a very “no B.S” attitude. His ingrained military background is most apparent when reading from his perspective. He is definitely an action man, to say the least. Being able to read his doubts and insecurities about the situation was eye-opening. It reminded me that even the strongest man questions what’s around him. I can’t say I like them all that much though.
Last but not least is Private Kieran Gallagher, a young man, at the beginning of his military career. I feel bad for his lack of experience as a soldier. He was definitely not prepared for the dangers that the outside world held. I don’t think any of them were.
Although the gore depicted is kept to a minimum for a book in the thriller genre, the horror is chilling. I found myself heavily invested in nearly every scene, action, or otherwise. I cried. More than once. And after taking the journey alongside each of these characters, I can honestly say that I didn’t know who I wanted to win at the end. It is safe to say that the movie did not do it justice and I cannot wait to get my hands on the prequel.

I feel like I'm the only og fnaf fan that didn't really enjoy the movie 💀
In my opinion, it was just really boring. I honestly wouldn't have minded if the movie was actually horror, like advertised?? Personally, i find horror movies to be really slow at first, but a lot of the time, they tend to pick up towards the middle. However, this movie just never picked up for me until pretty much the very end. I think it was just bc there was a lack of jumpscares imo. Like the BB jumpscares were affective, don't get me wrong, but I wish there was more from the others? I would've happily gone in with a different mindset if it was advertised as a thriller tbh. Also, a little bit more gore would've been nice. There were so many scenes that would've been awesome if they hadn't cut away right as a victim was about to die. Also, I didn't really see any lore confirmations that everyone keeps going on about? I feel like Scott just retconned stuff more than he confirmed it? It just seemed like Scott had so many ideas he wanted to do, and instead of picking one, he threw them altogether and hoped for the best
Spoilers ahead from this point on 👉🏼
.
.
Final warning... scroll past quickly if you don't want spoilers
.
.
Ok so here are my disappointments:
What was the purpose of not confirming Mike was Mike Schmidt until pretty much the end of the movie? I feel that was really unnecessary as it wasn't a huge plot twist or anything. Like I understand why Afton cut himself off when reading the name, but to me, it just felt like it was leading to a big reveal that never happened. Maybe it was to help reveal Vanessa was an Afton, but it wasn't pulled off well if that was the case imo
I understand the purpose of the fort scene with animatronics, but that personally ruined the immersion for me. It genuinely just took me right out of the movie bc it was too silly imo. I did think it was cute af how they all interacted in that scene, but I feel there could've been better ways to show that these are dead kids
Where was Afton this whole movie?? I knew Steve was him the whole time, but I wish they developed his character a bit more. A sad short story from Vanessa was not enough for me to really hate William in this movie
Another thing about Afton is that I wish he showed more fear once he lost control of animatronics. Hell, if not more fearful than at least have him be more threatening?? The lack of character development really hindered this scene imo. Matthew Lillard definitely needed more screen time
Back to first thing kinda, the whole Vanessa Afton reveal was confusing for me. Why make her his child when Mike was in the movie? Michael Afton was such a huge part of the lore, and not being a part of the movie franchise was a bit of letdown for me. It doesn't help I just did not have a reason to care for Vanessa till she revealed who she really was. Like William, I wish we could've gone more in-depth with her character
Mike's dreams were kinda dumb. I get it was a way for him to communicate to the dead children, and so we can see his trauma, but imo it wasn't done very well. It also felt like a slap in the face since the majority of the fan base dogged on the dream theory in the past. Like it seemed like a mean way of teasing more than it felt like a lighthearted kind
Lastly, William having literal control of the kids was really disappointing. Especially with only a picture. Again, the whole picture thing could've worked out a lot better if Afton was in the movie more. Maybe if we could've somehow seen Vanessa drawing the image as a kid and William putting up the artwork to seem like a good dad when in reality it was for his own personal gain or at least something to show he had some part in it. If done correctly, this movie could've really used some flashbacks
To sum it up a bit, I just really wish there was more character development. It was really hard to care or even relate to majority of these characters bc we brushed past things so quickly
Ok, now on to things I liked! ->
Mike Schmidt's character. I thought he was very well developed actually (despite my previous complaints). He (and Abby as well) was one of the couple of characters I really cared for
The actors/actresses. They all played their parts so well. Especially Abby's actress, Josh Hutcherson, and Matthew Lillard (at least when he was on screen lol). I was actually satisfied by their performances
The animatronics. They were stunning. It really was as if they were pulled straight from the game. Jim Henson company really pulled it off. I also loved how expressive they are. Also, SPARKY!! Never thought he would be an Easter egg in the movie, so that was a really cool surprise. From fake screenshot to being on the big screen :')
The Balloon Boy jumpscares. Got me twice and had me giggling. I just know this was Scott being the troll that we all know he is. It so fucking funny. Really brought out the intense hate we all tend to have for that lil fucker 😂
The springlock scene itself. Tho I wish it was a bit more gorey as well as had more expressive emotions, I still really enjoyed it. The animatronics dragging him away to rot for god knows how long movie wise was such a nice touch
Matpat and Corey's cameos. I was so excited seeing them! Esp Matpat. The dude's acting in that one livestream of his had me fully convinced he wasn't in the movie. Then boom, there he was as waiter. A waiter whose name was NESS, btw. Whoever came up with that is a fucking legend 👏🏻
Og TLT fnaf song as the end credits theme. That was such a nice nod to the fans. I'm so glad they added that in. So deserving
THE PUPPETS THEME. Look, I'm a huge fnaf 2 fan, so hearing that had me ascending lmaoooo
.

SPOILERS DONE
Overall, the movie was meh, and this is coming from someone who went in with low expectations. I'd advise just watching on Peacock (or 🏴‍☠️ it) personally. Don't go in expecting it to be anything similar to the games or even the books cause it's not. Treat it as a separate project. I went in expecting at least some of the basic things we've had confirmed, so I'd enjoy the movie more, but that just didn't work out for me, which is fine 🤷
Also, these are just my thoughts after my first watch. I could totally have a change of heart after another watch or 2. Unfortunately, the first impression was just not a good one, and that happens sometimes. So please don't take what I say to heart as, again, my opinion could change 😅
Overall rating: 5/10
I'm going to watch again at some point, so I'll update if my opinion changes in another post

All the Movies I Watched in 2023
This is a very long post so buckle up! (And I'm sorry. I love movies.)
Ticket to Paradise (2022)
5/5. I expected this movie to be a bad cash-grab, but was surprised to find that it had plenty of redeeming qualities. Maybe that's attributable to the charm of Julia Roberts and George Clooney. A lighthearted watch that's enjoyable if you allow yourself to relax and not treat every movie like it has to be a cinematic masterpiece.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)
4.5/5. I am so, so ready for a Knives Out, Sherlock Holmes-esque series. This movie was so, so entertaining, and presented a mystery that was different from the first in Knives Out, yet equally enjoyable.
Signs (2002)
4.5/5. Mel Gibson, Rory Culkin, and Joaquin Phoenix are absolutely amazing in this movie. Definitely one of Shyamalan's stronger films, but the ending is weak and doesn't support the weight of the rest of the movie. The concept of combining a tragic backstory for characters in a horror/thriller movie certainly isn't new, and by all accounts this movie could suffice without it, but I think it is a good contribution to its depth and themes. I was watching this in class and when M. Night Shyamalan appeared someone said, with full sincerity, "Who's that random Indian?" 🫥
The Theory of Everything (2014)
4.5/5. I love Eddie Redmayne, and his performance was pretty good. This biopic suffers from the pitfall of refusing to portray their subject as a human (someone who makes good and bad choices), opting instead to paint them as a god-like figure (insisting that they are incredibly moralistic even if it's clear that they aren't), which I think takes away from the intelligence of the film. There's no harm in showing Stephen Hawking as a normal person, and I think more biopics should have a little less bias. Good soundtrack.
Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
2.5/5. It was fine. It was hard for me to stay invested or care about the characters. Pretty cliche, and didn't have much nuance considering the plot. I think you could live without ever seeing this movie.
Twilight (2008)
2/5. A great movie to play in the background while doing something else. That baseball scene is fantastic though. Romance is bad. I'm pretty sure Carlisle Cullen is Lestat. Alice Cullen's hair is my everything.
Senseless (1998)
2.5/5. This movie is bad, but somehow I can't help but love Marlon Wayans' surprisingly vulnerable performance. He has an effortless charm. David Spade and Matthew Lillard are two of my longtime favorites, and both of them give a solid delivery in their respective typecasts.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
4.5/5. More children's movies should take themselves seriously!!! More children's movies should treat their primary audience with respect and intelligence!!! Children are more intelligent than we give them credit for!!! Thank you to this movie for understanding that. The animation was incredible, such a beautiful watch. I've said this before and I will not be quieted: Puss is Zorro's fursona.
The Lost Boys (1987)
3.5/5. "AAA THEYRE COMING AAAA" I love Keifer Sutherland, and I wish there was more of him in this movie tbh. Kind of boring. I think this could be remedied with more Keifer Sutherland.
Grease (1978)
2/5. I honestly do not get the appeal of this movie. I like Sandy and love Frenchie, but the musical aspect is a little underwhelming and the story is (and I'm sorry) just godawful. I'm referring less to its problematic aspects and more how frustrating it is, misunderstandings and such.
LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
5/5. Peter Jackson Gets It. His love for the book series and the world of Middle Earth is just so evident in this movie's intricacies and imagination, yet it also strays away from the book in ways that I think are really good, such as some of the dialogue choices (Frodo's a little bit meaner in the books, which I don't think would make him very likable if we were actually hearing it be said.) I want to live in Bag End SO BAD.
LOTR: The Two Towers (2002)
5/5. Legolas, my beloved. A bridge between the first and last installments that doesn't feel plot-deprived. Balances perfectly between mounting the tension for the final installment and also maintaining its solitary plot points. I want to include my Letterboxd review because it's ~sO fUnNy~
Tumblr media
LOTR: The Return of the King (2003)
5/5. Man. Wow. I cry. I cry. I cry. Literally cannot even give a review bc of the overwhelming mixture of emotions I feel when I think about this movie.
The gayest installment of the series, though that's a hard trophy to hold considreing the competition.
A League of Their Own (1992)
5/5. I do not think it is so bad to be a stereotypical underdog sports movie if you can approach the convention with a story as entertaining and genuinely as heartfelt as this. Very funny. Geena Davis!!!!! Geena Davis!!!!!!! Many of these women are lesbians in real life and although that was conveniently left out of the movie... you can still tell. I was scared that the conversation between Geena Davis and Tom Hanks meant a stupid romance subplot was going to happen, but thankfully this movie has too much dignity for that.
Suburban Gothic (2014)
2.5/5. I didn't really enjoy this movie because there wasn't a single strong aspect of it that I could rely on to forgive it. All of the characters were unlikable, the plot was strange and inconsistent (and I was upset because I was looking forward to it in this aspect). However, Jeffrey Combs is his usual amazing self and the humor is pretty good at times.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (rewatch) (2016)
3.5/5. I watched this when it came out and it was one of my favorite movies. It still holds a special place in my heart for the surprising breach of conventions it makes. Newt, as a leading man in a big-budget film, is shy, sensitive, and polite. I love him to death. (This is the movie that started my love for Eddie Redmayne) However, considering that it is a big-budget blockbuster, it's only allowed to go so far with its breach of conventions.
It's very beautiful to watch. The romance between Newt and Tina actually feels like a romance, which I find is surprisingly hard for movies to do. It's also the strongest installment in the series, and it goes downhill from there.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (rewatch) (2018)
3/5. I wanted to like this movie so bad when I first watched it, and I do, sort of. I love everything in this movie that replicates the last movie: Newt's characterization, Tina's characterization, the visual effects, the beasts!!!!!, the time period, the worldbuilding, the sophisticated air. I also love the addition of Newt's brother and Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam is just incredible!). And that's where my love for this movie ends. Everything else annoys me. Like, I understand that Queenie loves Jacob so much she'd do anything for him, but I find it hard to believe she'd be convinced by Grindelwald. She's smarter than that. And, I don't really care about the Dumbledore, Lestrange, and Credence Barebone/Nagini storyline. They just aren't that captivating. This is where the series starts to tip from an equal balance between the beasts and 1920s Wizarding World Politics into more WW Politics, which makes me sad.
Fantastic Beasts:The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
2/5. This movie makes me so fucking mad. Out of all the movies in the series, this one is the worst. It's not even about Newt Scamander anymore! If you wanted to make a Dumbledore/Grindelwald origin story, just make a separate movie series! I wanted to see beasts! I wanted to see Newt travel the world! Goddamn this movie for taking that away from me, and every other Scamander fan!!!! The last shot of this movie is of fucking Albus Dumbledore, for christ's sake!!! I just don't care!!! Fuck this!!! WHY.
I'm actually so sad.
(J. K. Rowling can't write for shit and she's a TERF. Neil Gaiman can write for shit and is a trans ally. Coincedence? I think not.)
I think Mads Mikkelsen is great as Grindelwald. He delivers a sophisticated and somewhat sinister performance to this movie that I think does more service to it than Johnny Depp's campiness, which isn't really right for this type of movie. If the stars had aligned differently, I would have liked Mikkelsen to play Grindelwald from the start. But not even that could have saved this shit movie.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
5/5. Beautiful and visually captivating. Very nuanced plot that I will not pretend to understand in its entirety, though I'm sure a rewatch would do it justice in that regard. This is not a movie you want spoiled, so look it up with caution. Jane Campion? More like Jane CHAMPION. Definitely recommend.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
4/5. Maybe a controversial take, but I actually really enjoyed this movie, as someone who hasn't read the book. Maybe I would enjoy it less so if I did read the book, (which I do eventually plan on doing) and I understand people's complaints about the movie. I don't think this movie (and the Hobbit series as a whole) should be considered with the same judgment as the LOTR series: despite being made by the same director, their appeal and intended demographic is vastly different. While LOTR's appeal was more based on its faithfulness to the books and authenticity, and intended demographic is more longtime LOTR/fantasy fans (nerds), the Hobbit trilogy's intended appeal is more of a meatheaded likability intended to appease more widespread audiences (everyone who's not a nerd). I don't think it lives up to LOTR, and I do think a singular movie should have been made more in the vein of LOTR (faithfulness to source material and avoidance of blockbuster stereotypes), but this movie is still fun. The performances are good and overall I can't hate this movie.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
4/5. This is probably my favorite in the Hobbit series. The romance between Kili and Tauriel is pretty solid. Bard is fantabulous. Smaug is an absolutely terrifying villain. Bilbo is a Chad. The story never feels stretched out or annoying. I dunno, I just like it. :)
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)
4.5/5. Again, I don't expect anybody to agree with my opinions on the Hobbit trilogy. I just find them fun. This one is heartbreaking. But still fun!
Mikey and Nicky (1976)
3.5/5. Very interesting to watch this as a Columbo fan.
I expected this movie to be kind of boring, and while there are some slow bits, it's very entertaining throughout. The tension simmers on the back burner for almost the entire movie until the end, when it boils over and everything catches on fire. I think it's good that there are moments where the tension takes a backseat to let some of the other themes develop, particularly regarding the character development and relationship between Mikey and Nicky. I also love this movie's concept. Def recommend.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
4/5. I didn't expect too much from this movie, and found that it was good. Very entertaining. Johnny Depp is wonderful as Jack Sparrow (this is the type of movie where his campiness is appreciated). I love pirates. I'm so annoyed about the "You like pain? Try wearing a corset." Line sm. Like... they're called stays in that time period, for one thing. Secondly, they shouldn't hurt if you're wearing them properly. Like my god that line was so written-by-a-man it hurts. Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley were great. Fun.
Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
5/5. If people have told you to watch this movie, go watch this movie. If people haven't told you to go watch it, I'm telling you right now. Animation is gorgeous and it maintains and elevates all the appeal of the first movie. The diversity just exists in this movie, because this movie understands that diverse people just exist. PLEASE go watch it.
Bridesmaids (2011)
4.5/5. This is a movie for the girls who are morally grey and fear they may be a bad person and are just trying their best to trudge through a burned out existence. Emotional aspect is just as strong as the comedic aspect, and they transition in and out of each other really well. Just... skip the bridal dress scene.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
5/5. One of the most entertaining and lovable movies I've ever seen. A good watch for when you need to clear your head and just relax.
In the Heat of the Night (1967)
5/5. Intelligent and revolutionary-for-its-time movie that still has modern relevance. Sidney Poitier deserved an Oscar for this, and I'm really sad he didn't get one. (However he did get a British Academy Award for this movie.) Love the concept, though I do wish the racial aspect had been carried through to the end, as it kind of drops off in favor of the murder-mystery aspect, culminating in a resolution that's essentially just "I guess I'm not racist anymore because you're really good at solving crimes." I think Virgil deserved a better end to his story.
Rango (2011)
5/5. This is one of those rare children's movies that feels older, mostly because it takes itself seriously and delivers on that 100%. Animation is wonderful.
War of the Worlds (2005)
3/5. It's sort of fun, but so annoying and underwhelming that it's not even worth it. Tom Cruise's character is supposed to develop but we never really see that. Dakota Fanning screams so much. I was pretty scream-y when I was a little girl, but not even I screamed that much.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
4.5/5. Maybe I do believe in love.
I think this is like the Hobbit trilogy version of book adaptations: not totally faithful to source material but pretty enjoyable. Had me sobbing.
I always get a little annoyed when period pieces feel like they have to sacrifice historical accuracy in costuming and customs in favor of appealing to a modern audience because I think audiences are smarter and more open-minded than they give us credit for.
Stand by Me (1986)
4/5. Even though this isn't really horror, you can definitely tell it's a Stephen King movie: self-insert writer character, set in the pacific northwest or northern east coast, gratuitous 1950s-ness, psychopath bully, and bad parents.
This movie has so much heart behind it. It's such a genuine and heavy portrayal of boyhood and the emotional topsy-turviness of male adolescence. I can't say female adolescence because there's hardly any women in this movie at all. I think it's fine if it's a boyhood-centric movie (but when did boyhood mean that women don't exist?) but it is by no means a commentary on adolescence as a whole.
Clue (rewatch) (1985)
4.5/5. Witty humor and a well-crafted mystery. Very fun, even if it falls short in some of its intended appeal. You know what never falls short? Tim Curry.
Batman Begins (2005)
3.5/5. My least favorite installment in the Dark Knight trilogy. Just not as appealing as the other two in terms of tone and storytelling ability.
The Dark Knight (2008)
4.5/5. My FAVORITE installment in the trilogy. What can I say about this that hasn't already been said before? I'll tell you: YEAAHHH GARY OLDMAN!! I LOVE GARY OLDMAN!!!!
This movie is THE quintessential neo-noir movie.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
4/5. Again, what can I say that hasn't already been said before?
SPOILERS: I'm so glad Gary Oldman didn't die because I was almost certain he was going to. Also I love when Batman reveals his identity to Gordon by quoting what Gordon said to him when he was a kid, and of COURSE Gordon realizes because that's just the amazing person he is.
Apostle (2018)
4.5/5. I get that not everybody thinks this movie is good, but I can't help but love it. I think part of it is that it holds a lot of personal appeal (that being Michael Sheen, in case my 10,000 Good Omens posts didn't allude to that).
Here's a list of stuff I liked:
Michael Sheen
Dan Stevens (Now I know he'll never leave me.)
The solid romance subplot.
Michael Sheen
Religious symbolism.
Cults.
Solid historical accuracy in terms of clothing.
I liked this movie up until the very end, where it kinda feels underwhelming. I didn't like the supernatural aspect, which kind of undercut the themes of the movie.
1917 (2019)
5/5. I made a whole slide presentation on why this movie is amazing so I think I'll just link it here.
If you don't want to read all of that, just know that this movie is, a) incredible with historical costuming, b) an effective anti-war film, c) soundtrack is wonderful, d) it will rip your heart out and you will like it. You will like it.
Young Guns (rewatch) (1988)
3/5. A classic slightly-historically-accurate cowboy movie of the eighties. Keifer Sutherland :). Kinda gay. It's a bit boring and forgettable, and the romance aspect isn't that good. If I ever gave it another rewatch, I think I would just turn it off after Billy shoots that traitor, turn it back on for the peyote scene for a laugh, and then turn it off again.
Master and Commander (2003)
4.5/5. My rating may lead you to believe that I like this movie somewhat, but not very much. However, I love this movie so much I can hardly put it into words. There's just something about it. I didn't know I was starving until this movie fed me, to be dramatic. I love how precise it is with historical accuracy. I love the characters. I love the strings duet. I love James D'Arcy. I love Paul Bettany and his flightless birds (GOD I love him in this movie. Doctor characters in period pieces are always my favorites). I love bros. I want to live in this movie, it's so cozy. I want to be a sailor for the British Royal Navy in 1812 so damn bad.
I would recommend this movie. It happens to fit in a personal niche of mine, so I think it's the greatest thing ever, but I understand that not everybody has that same niche lol.
Pride and Prejudice (1995)
5/5. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I prefer this miniseries to the 2005 movie. Maybe it's just because of its intense historical accuracy and closer allegiance to the book (if 2005 is the Hobbit trilogy of P&P adaptations, this is the LOTR trilogy), but this series really makes the book come to life. I think it's mostly because it has way more time to tell the story. Jennifer Elhe is so good as Elizabeth: her sly glances and clever deliveries have made me, a straight girl, fall hopelessly in love with her. Colin Firth falls in love. Just look:
Tumblr media
I can't breathe. Look at him.
Damn this series is good. Definitely recommend 100000000%.
Surf's Up (2007)
4.5/5. So damn funny. A good story about penguins surfing to Green Day. A fun relaxer.
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
4.5/5. A Christmas classic that I had never seen before. It has charm. It has a Good Omens reference 44 years before it was published ("angel" being confused to mean something gay)
Off Track (Ur Spår)
3.5/5. A Hallmark-y Swedish drama-comedy about an alcoholic single mother who is trying to turn her life around for her daughter, her ex-husband and his new wife, her brother (an amateur athlete training to compete in the Vasa race--a cross-country skiing competition), and his issues with his wife and their inability to conceive. It's not the greatest movie ever made, but what it does have is heaps of heart. Lisa is a character with so much determination, and it's incredibly satisfying when (spoiler) she crosses the finish line--the final person to do so--and she is given a celebratory wreath and the announcer calls her the true hero of the race. I cried. She's been at the bottom of the rank with every chance to turn back, but she endures, just as she does in life. Love her. Her brother on the other hand is sorta scummy and remains scummy throughout the entire movie. It's very easy to not root for him because his arc never really has a resolution. Klara deserves better.
Man of Steel
3.5/5. It's enjoyable. Henry Cavill is perfectly cast as Superman. Love how much of a sweet country boy he is. I kinda hate the way Lois Lane is written, but at the same time she has her moments.
Final Thoughts: I've watched a lot of really popular, big-budget blockbuster movies this year (e.g. LOTR series, Dark Knight series, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.). In the past I would have avoided movies like these because I always assume that I won't enjoy these types of movies. However, I think this year I was less over-assumptive and was able to sit back and enjoy movies without expecting every single movie to be the greatest thing I've ever seen.
I watched a lot of "dudebro" and male-centric movies in 2023, and though I enjoyed a good number of them, I'd like to watch more movies that are female-centric/feminist/have a good portrayal of women in 2024. I think I enjoyed male-centric movies like Master and Commander because of their nuanced characterization, mostly stemming from the fact that they were written by men and about men. (I don't think it's a bad thing to enjoy movies that celebrate masculinity, like Master and Commander, as long as it's not misogynistic in its celebration.) Some of the movies I watched that feature women are written by men, and therefore the women were underdeveloped and fall into the misogynistic storytelling pitfalls that portray women as stereotypes (whether conscious or not), which is why I'd like to see more movies written by women and about women, to see an honest and nuanced portrayal of women.

"So did you find anyone"
Y/n said as she took another sip of her red wine enjoying the beautiful view of the city full of lights by the huge balcony infront of her.
"Yes mam we did, he isn't like the last ones but I hope you will like him"
"Where is he ?"
She asked again taking another sip with a cold face.
"There"
Her secretary, Ellen, said as she looked down the room by the glass Wall.
She chuckled and said...
"Such a innocent, can't even take a sip of whiskey and is making disgusted face just by the smell of beer"
"Yes mam he is really innocent just like you wanted for you"
"Info"
"Kim namjoon, a intelligent college students or in another language, a typical intelligent nerd, is way too innocent, it's his last year of college and currently is a tutor by profession, had a crush in his first year but soon she was murdered by a serial killer leaving a depressed and broken namjoon behind and he never dated a girl till yet not even held hands with one"
"And what about family"
"He's a orphan, his parents died when he was 13 and he was raised by his father's sister but last year she also died in a plane crash"
"More sad then expected but that's not my problem...bring him tommorow for the contract"
Y/n said as she took the last sip and left from there like a queen she is.
----
"Umm hyung can I please know where am I"
Namjoon asked as the man who was holding him felt pity on him.
"He is way too pure, we kidnapped him and even threatened him with guns but this boy didn't even cursed...I really feel bad for him"
"Yes, you're right I really hope he don't end up like othe-"
Two if the men present in that room were talking to eachother but stopped when they noticed y/n entering the room and quickly bowed to her.
"Jack and minseok it was good working with you hope you have a great life ahead"
Y/n said as soon as she entered the room and shooted them both with her favourite gun as namjoon screamed out of his lungs whereas others didn't even flinched and cleared the mess as soon as possible.
Namjoon was already scared and this act was enough for him to be scared for eternity.
Y/n's cold face turned into a warm and comforting one as soon as she saw namjoon's face.
She went closer to him making namjoon panic but then she just hugged him with so much care and concern which made namjoon comfortable and he hugged her back more tighter.
A normal 27 year old would never do that but he did, why, because he's in his little space.
Yes, because of all the traumas namjoon faced in his life, he became a little one as an outcome.
He had a pretty well control on this but in the last two months y/n's people were drugging him and because of that he lost all the control on his concious mind and is now a complete little one, he still sometimes comes back to his normal self but from now on y/n isn't gonna allow him to do so.
----
It's been a month since y/n and namjoon are living together and honestly in this one month namjoon became much more than a sugar baby to y/n and She can't even imagine to live without her joonie.
"Mommy mommy look uncle elli iz too fast, he alwayz catches joonie and then joonie luses all hish chocolatesh"
Namjoon came running inside the room followed by Ellen with a box of chocolates.
"Omo my baby don't worry mommy will buy you soo many chocolates and will also scold uncle, is that okay now"
Y/n said putting her glass of wine aside.
"Yesh"
Namjoon said with a pout and sat on y/n's lap giving her a peck on her cheak.
"Aigoo my joonie wants cuddles from mommy"
Y/n asked softly caressing his hair as namjoon nodded snuggling into her chest putting his plushie, koya, beside them on the night stand.
"Ellen you can go home now"
"But mam how can I leave you and namjoon sir alone, this cabin is in a dark jungle with no population around, it can be dangerous"
"Ellen I know you're concerned, I will be okay like I always have been"
"But mam no one is here expect you me and namjoon sir-"
"Ellen"
"Sigh...okay mam as you wish but please be safe, it's isn't just one day or one weak it's a matter of a month"
"Yes Ellen I will be don't worry"
Y/n said as Ellen bowed to her and left from there with a worried face.
Y/n is here at her favourite cabin with namjoon to spend a month with him, only with him.
She is a billionaire businesswoman of mafia world and like others she also gets only a little amount of time for herself and now she finally has a month for herself to relax and enjoy and she wants to do it with namjoon her one and only love.
Yes, y/n is a sugar mommy because she wasn't interested in love and relationships until she met namjoon and now he is the only one in her life who has the right to love her.
They have never been intimate with eachother because first namjoon is a little and second y/n doesn't need physical relationships to prove her love, she is happy with the innocent namjoon she has.
"Mommy can you plixz bring chocolate milk for joonie, joonie is thirty"
"Okay baby just wait here for mommy"
Y/n said as she left from there.
Y/n was in her kitchen pouring some more red wine in her glass after making a jar of chocolate milk for namjoon.
She was done and was about to pick the tray of drinks up that's when the lights got off and the whole house became dark in just a second.
"Oh god these powercuts I really have to do something with them but for now I should go to joon he for sure is shivering under the blanket because of fear"
She went to her room but didn't found namjoon anywhere.
"Joon...joon...joonie"
Y/n called him but got no response that's when she felt a sudden pain in her head...somehow hit her head with something really hard.
Y/n tried to look who is it but before that she already passed out.
"Agh my head"
Y/n said waking up and soon she realised she was tied up to the bed.
"What the- who the hell tied me and who is that fucking bitch who hit me on my head"
Y/n screamed struggling to get out of those handcuffs that's when she noticed namjoon who was sitting on a chair infront of her... smirking.
He wasn't wearing a koala hoodie anymore and was sitting there wearing a proper professional suit looking absolutely handsome and hot but scary also.
"Joonie... Joon come here help mum with these handcuffs and first of all look that door so that you can be save from the-"
Namjoon started laughing hard as y/n stopped speaking with a confused face.
"Oh god y/n you're a mafia but still didn't got what's happening here and telling me to be safe from myself...what a stupidity"
Y/n was confused for some more seconds but then she realised everything.
"WHO ARE YOU ?"
Y/n shouted pissed off by the betrayal.
"Oh you're a smart lady anyways-"
"JUST ANSWER MY FUCKING QUESTION"
"Oh my stop shouting young lady it's bad-"
"JUST ANSWER YOU SON OF A BITC-"
Y/n wasn't able to complete her sentence as namjoon started choking her.
"i..am..being..kind..that..doesn't..mean..that..you..will..say..whatever..shit..you..want..to..say"
He was still choking her but she didn't showed any fear in her eyes, there was only one thing visible there...anger.
Namjoon chuckled and left her neck but she didn't even coughed.
"Such a fearless hoe but don't worry I will change it soon now let me tell you who am I"
Namjoon said sitting beside her as he caressed her cheaks with a smirk.
"Mrs. Kim mi-young, my mother was such a great lady am I right ?"
Namjoon said staring straight in her eyes as y/n's eyes widened by the sudden shock.
"O-oppa"
"Yes my little sis, oppa is back"
This line was enough to flash memories in her mind line by line, scene by scene.
Flashback...
Y/n's parents, both were mafias and working, result she was always alone.
But a caretaker, Kim mi-young was always with her, the only one who cared for her always unconditionally.
She had a son, a 13 year old son, he always used to come with her to play with 9 year old y/n.
But one day both of them got lost, with the death of her father.
She knows that her father died because of his enemy's son but she doesn't know where her favourite oppa and caretaker aunt got lost.
When y/n grew up, she started to use boys for her satisfaction so that she can find her dad's enemy's son and torture him.
Flashback end...
"Oppa, where were you ?"
She questioned.
"You still don't know ?"
Namjoon asked as a reply.
"What should I know ?"
She asked, he just scoffed.
"That your dear father or my dear father was the one who used my mother and then killed her"
He said calmly.
Y/n was still processing, but soon realised the meaning of his words.
"What ?"
"Yes, that night when we got home father was there with your mother, at first my mom was happy that he maybe confessed to your mother that he was cheating on your mother with my mother and my mother was his first love, and was going to hug him but instead of hugging my mother......he stabbed her mercilessly with your mother.
He used her and then killed Her, he was about to kill me too but my mother saved me with her neck sliced open because of the knife that was meant for me.
That day I ran away, and soon I killed him too, I killed the one who destroyed my mother, I was about to kill your mother too but she ran away with you"
He explained with a face of mixed emotions.
"My mother left her everything for a monster and in return, he killed her...so I killed him too"
He said with a satisfied face.
Y/n was scared, devastated, sad, angry, guilty, every negative emotion was there in her eyes.
"Baby you are the only one I have now, you won't leave me now, right ?"
Y/n's emotional side was controlling her, she wasn't in her sences, the only sence working in her head was namjoon's little step sis.
She just nodded to her joon oppa as namjoon smirked and hugged her.
"Mission accomplished"
He whispered snuggling in her neck as he kissed her cheek like a baby.
Tumblr media
After that namjoon and y/n just mixed up in the air for the world.
No one was able to find them or the wooden cabin in that forest.
For everyone, either the sky swolled them or the earth ate them, the were never found again.
And about y/n's mother, she was found dead in her mansion the same day Ellen left y/n alone in her wooden cabin.
Her death was mysterious and unsolvable.
Things got back to there way, everyone got what they deserved, isn't it ?

hello! nice to meet you all! i'm j and i'm here to bring you kang sienna (kang siyoung)! a 20 year old somewhat starlet who's trying her hand at this industry again, mainly because she's mostly funded by her parents who don't care more to invest in her. she has siblings and step-siblings but she's not close to any of them.
if she's not at the company or dorms, she's with her friends and when they have breaks, her focus is on seeing her grandparents.
below! you'll find more about siyoung and as well as some rough plots! also, if anyone wants to give me to permission to use their profile layout bc im too lazy to make my own, pls!
about
her mother and father divorced when she was 10 years old, her mother is an actress and her father a music producer. he works with a lot of korean artist.
she lived in gwangju until she was 5 but often visits her grandparents, her satoori has stayed due to this and she's proud of it.
her parents did one of those baby tv shows so she was in the public eye at a young age.
from age 9 - 12 in a few popular drama's. mainly at the pushing off her parents. so when the divorce came, it was messy (mainly on her dad's side) and very public. finally, the cord was cut and her father went back to america. they've only talked on the phone a few times, he sends money and gifts but they don't have a relationship.
her mom threw herself into work and was barely around, deeming sienna old enough to fend for herself.
her mom never really wanted kids so sienna was able to be a wild child for a bit (still is sorta)
she faded from the spotlight and developed her interest more, siyoung always liked attention so becoming an idol was her new goal. in trying out her skills, she was a good performer and leaned well into rap and dance but she doesn't consider herself a horrible vocalist.
maybe, she's more of a daddy's girl than thought.
she joined a company and there were red flags but her debut came fast! due to lack of funds, they had to build the group themselves really and the company banked on her former fame
honestly, the group didn't do horrible but there were long breaks between comebacks and then it came out the company was a front for money laundering.
they disbanded and she was still in highschool.
wild child bloomed then, more partying, drinking and smoking. at one point she had dreams but now she was aimless, doing what she could to get attention with no goals.
this was channeled into making her own music but it's not something she shared, she still enjoyed busking and dancing and hanging out in the 'underground' scene but it amounted to nothing
the adults around her didn't care and those that would, siyoung was good at putting up a front
she's an out-going girl, maybe a little desperate to be liked at times. she doesn't manage her anger well in that it she bottles it up until it explodes on the right or wrong person
she's signed under starlight!
i have plans in the future for an attitude scandal / past bullying thing
not that she was a bully but she would give as good as she got and even more. revenge doesn't need to be served cold as long as it's served.
she's good to those she likes and vile to those she hates.
a girl who teeters the edge and could easily slip into 'mean' girl mode
her sense of humor is a little dark, morbid
a soft grunge girl who loves one piece and the sims, horror moves, thrillers but can also wallow in self-induce misery if you can't her on the right day.
is very worried about her age and debuting
ideas
she speaks perfect english and korean so if someone needs help in either
muses who act? i don't think it's her arc maybe but she doesn't mind helping people read lines
someone who's fans of her parents
someone who's seen her act in dramas and wonder if it's the same little girl or who someone who does know
she's rich and she doesn't mind showing it so muses who either vibe with that or don't? resentment over shopping trips maybe? or someone who's irked because she chooses expensive places and offers to pay and they think it's pity?
someone she's had beef with in high school?
someone she stood up for in high school?
pls give me this idea. someone (or friend) fucked with her in high school and in response, she stole their man. she's never been sorry.
rivals
one great love, would've been when she was 18-19 and dated for a year, they broke up with her. could've been a player or even siyoung was too intense as a girl friend (extreme opposite of her parents loveless marriage) and they couldn't take it
OR
a boy who was a player, played with her and then broke up with her by dating someone new...they meet again and he doesn't realize it's her
a boy she ghosted and some other small quick relationships that ended
muses that she partied with
a good bestie and a good circle of friends
muses who are into producing and muses she met while busking in hongdae!
someone who doesn’t see her talents and thinks she only got where she got through money! let’s have fun with it (she’d agree, to get a sense of her personality)
if you've seen something you like, let me know or like this post! can't wait to plot with you all!

1, 2, 7, and 13 for the infinity on high ask game? for dottore!! :] —cephalophoricboyfriend
hiii hey thank u!! :]
Tumblr media
1: "Thriller" - Briefly summarize the dynamic for your ship. What’s one of the main things about it that personally makes it special to you?
OKAY i. didn't really think my relationship dynamic w him would turn into anything particularly deep at first because. i just found him attractive but couldn't and honestly STILL can't really imagine him in any sort of "traditionally" romantic relationship (but then again neither can i imagine the same thing for myself/any of my s/is so. it works out i guess)....so originally the whole thing pretty much starts out w dottore taking interest in "studying" silvio and his behavior/desires as a human, partially because he hopes it might help him to find a way to make lady francine laugh, partially because he's just...a little curious. similarly, silvio's life used to be rather dull so someone powerful & dangerous like dottore taking interest in him (for whatever reason it may be) and spending time with him is exciting silvio. aaand i kinda thought that would be the gist of it, just two kind of messed up creatures taking interest in each other for rather egotistical reasons involving some additional homoeroticism but as it is........i ended up liking dottore way too much so i'm now also constantly thinking about the ways his and silvio's relationship could develop, and the ways in which they would change alongside and because of each other. i'm not really sure where they'll end up yet, but i think that's probably what makes it special to me - it's all about both of them figuring out what it even means to be human, what it means to care about someone (maybe even more than you care about yourself) and who they are & have the potential to be outside of who they believed they were predetermined to be. also it's about devotion it's about cannibalism it's about the eroticism of the machine it's about gay evil clowns it's about th

answered 2 here :]
Tumblr media
7: "Thnks fr th Mmrs" - How would both of your lives be like if you had never met each other? How different would it be?
this one's kinda funny for me to think about because....i originally planned on shipping silvio with two other characters (who i still love very dearly but i'm having a hard time focusing on anyone besides dottore at the moment <3), and while he essentially had the same backstory (getting taken in by the midnight circus as a child and growing up around the automata) in this scenario, he eventually realizes he isn't content spending the rest of his life there and ends up leaving with said characters...which might just have been what he'd done had dottore not started taking interest in him. i mean, silvi was never too keen on going back to human society, but he was also painfully aware that his true place wasn't among the automata either and that he wasn't living a very fulfilling life, so he might have tried finding his luck elsewhere - especially considering he saw the majority of the automata get destroyed during the sahara battle, so the midnight circus he knew was kinda done for anyway...and the only thing that would have really interested him would be saving his own ass.
(also i guess TECHNICALLY their very first meeting took place when the automata destroyed silvi's home town, but dottore barely paid any attention to him at that point and only really became part of his life much later. but if we're going with that, silvi probably just...would have grown into a regular, semi-well adjusted human being and never got involved with anything concerning the main plot had the automata not come to his town lmao)
as for dottore, he probably just would have met the same fate he did in canon and stayed dead after getting destroyed </3 i like to think silvi actually played a part in saving him and convincing faceless to repair him (and i know canon kind of implied that he was beyond saving, which i do think makes sense but unfortunately i love him so i'll have to ignore that part), because while not being in love with him at that point, he had still grown attached to him and refused to just leave his body behind in the tent.
Tumblr media
13: "You're Crashing, But You're No Wave" - Between you/your s/i and your f/o, who has more life experience?
i'd say they're both probably equally (in)experienced in different ways - dottore is a ~200 y/o (i'm too tired to look up the actual timeline of canon events right now but he's. old) automaton built to fulfill his one purpose, and while the automata do seem to have some knowledge of human culture/history, they don't really understand anything pertaining to human emotions (or at least they're convinced they don't because i believe they are a lot more emotional than they claim to be) and have never made any of the experiences most humans would consider to be "essential" in some way. but of course that's measuring things by human standards...when it simply comes down to how long they've been alive and what they might have seen and done during that time, dottore probably beats silvio in experience.
silvio also grew up on the street and mostly just fought for his survival before getting taken in by the midnight circus. after that, he grew up pretty much completely sheltered from the rest of humanity. he never really formed close relationships of any kind with other humans, and just like the automata, he doesn't feel like he truly understands human emotions & desires very well - although as a human he obviously still experiences them (even when he's in denial), but he isn't very good at dealing with them and actually considers most of them a weakness, leading him to wish he could be more like the automata..
SO UH YEAH not sure if that answers the question actually, it's a little difficult since they're different kinds of beings who'd probably have different ideas & definitions of what life experience means to them in the first place....so i'll just say when it comes to anything related to navigating love and relationships they're both equally hopeless lmao.

My 2022 Kdrama Roundup
Making my 2022 cdrama roundup is taking too long (...I watched so many fuckign cdramas this year) so, since I watched considerably less kdramas, I decided to just do a post of them first!
KDRAMAS I FINISHED THIS YEAR:
The King's Affection--A kdrama targeting me personally. A crossdressing female crown prince would have been enough, but did she have to be so lethal? So handsome? Did she have to be good at both archery and swordfighting? And schemey? And did her love interest have to be a bisexual Rowoon? I was Attacked. My favorite kdrama of this year!
Eve--I'm always here for a solid Monte Cristo. Just people coming back with a new identity to fuck up the lives of those who wronged them. Lee Ra-el really goes for it. The drama, the angst, the fashion! Also the femslashy tension with Han So-ra was great, I need more female archnemeses in my life. The only thing is I didn't really like the actual romance that much? Maybe I just don't understand the tango.
Alice, the Final Weapon--More of a miniseries. The dynamic is a female assassin/a kind of suicidal masochist who becomes more invested in life after meeting her. And they're both highschoolers? Honestly the only way to sell me on a teenage romance is to make it this insane, I did enjoy.
The Silent Sea--Ngl it did creep me out a lot. The lunar water, that is. Didn't feel super connected in the characters bc this show is more about plot, concept, and action than character development, but it was quite tense and I was certainly invested in whether they were going to survive.
KDRAMAS I ALMOST FINISHED BUT DID NOT BUT WILL FINISH IN 2023, OKAY? REALLY!
Alchemy of Souls--I love Naksu/Mudeok! I love her fucked up mentorship with Jang Uk, especially in the early episodes where her attitude is just "throw him at death and see what happens". Also enjoy the obnoxious crown prince lols. I have only two episodes left (of the first season, at least) and have enjoyed both the scheming and the character development, but I have to say it can sometimes be a bit slow, and I don't care that much about ALL the supporting characters that have to have their moment in the limelight EVERY episode. (Park Jin and Park Dang-gu, I'm looking at you!)
Flower of Evil--New obsession! I had to stop watching for a week or so bc I was just bingeing too fast and losing sleep lols. The suspense is way up there, the whump is a thing of beauty, and I found myself super invested in Do Hyeon-su's life of fake (but come on, it's not really fake!) domestic bliss. Just so intense. I was kind of scared off by the hype for this show when it first came out but the hype is real, this show is incredible. Just hope the ending lives up to the rest of it.
Connect--An enjoyable thriller, but I don't really see why you have to make the antagonist of a show that already has organ traffickers, mad science and mutants... a random serial killer? On the other hand I do love his weird vibe with the surprisingly normal mutant MC so. I am not immune to serial killer antagonists.
OVERALL
A good year for morally dubious female protagonists (yes, I am including Lee Hwi/Dam-yi! she comes very close to murder multiple times and I am including her!). I watched less kdrama thrillers than usual bc I was watching cdrama thrillers instead, but the ones I watched were enjoyable. I want more fanfic for all of these shows but the fanfic wants I have are immensely specific so I should probably just write some but we will see.
