Well, as someone who successfully survived the years since 2019 when we published Mini and the Gang™, and found out that they may have, like, 50 more years to live, it is a little frustrating to have peaked at 27. I guess I have 50 years of trying to chase and reproduce that elation. What madness will this result in? Stick around to find out!

BACK TO BETA. Minecraft Evolution SMP #1

The Introduction: What is Evolution smp? Evolution SMP is a Minecraft server with 9 active players at the start. Its purpose is for players to "re-live" Minecraft from some of its earliest versions. Starting with Minecraft Beta 1.2_02, which was released at the beginning of 2011.

The episode starts with Grian explaining what the server's gimmick is about. As Grian finishes explaining, NettyPlays bursts into laughter, claiming that there's a chicken behind Mini Muka, yet other players cannot see it.

Netty: Am I going crazy? *she asks still in laugher* Martyn: Ye, you are legitimately going crazy. There is no chicken there Netty: There's a Ghost chicken right here.

This evolve into other players jokingly saying how Netty will be right back after taking her medicine.

That's when Grian chimes in, saying that Netty probably isn't crazy, as the early Minecraft versions were extremely buggy. It was more likely than not for them to experience bugs like that again.

After the brief introduction, Grian points out how some of them have skins while others have the default Steve skin. The reason for that is that this version is so old that it doesn't register the skins as it does now, which results in the "veteran players" having their old skins while the others don't.

That quickly moves on to the conversation about how now the players can try to use old methods and glitches as a way to prank people. Quickly, Martyn butts in, screaming "No fire though," which Grian agrees with, others soon following suit.

The players end their conversation and go their separate ways to make this server "their home".

Start of the SMP Grian wanders off, exclaiming how this is his first ever smp, and that he is so much more comfortable in this kind of setting (Minecraft beta) since this is what he grew up with.

He mentions how this type of gameplay will be totally new for some players here – namely, Netty and Jimmy – since they have not played these early versions. Then he follows that they will probably die quite a lot, since this game is much harder.

The mobs are stronger, and it is a bit buggy; there's no sprint and no hunger bar. Players heal their hearts by eating food, which instantly regains their hearts. Mobs hit you repeatedly in a cycle where you can't escape, and if you're overwhelmed, you are most certainly going to die.

As he explains those things, he makes a wooden tool for himself. After a while, he comes across pumpkins, which are useless in this version, but he picks them up anyway.

Grian starts explaining his plan for a base, which is a submerged city, only possible to make in this version of Minecraft because water physics were different at this stage. So Grian goes on a hunt to find deep ocean, but on his way, he finds snow, which he previously mentioned he needs in the video.

The scene changes, and we cut to Grian on his way to spawn, where he informs us how he found out that there's snow near spawn that he can easily collect. As he was leaving that area, though, he comes across a wooden shack, not missing a beat in going inside and asking whose it is, and checking the chests. Grian places a dirt in the house which had a sand floor and places a poppy on it, calling it a present.

The base Grian's on an island, telling us how he's going to make a temporary base here while he works on the bigger project: that being the previously mentioned submerged city.

He smelts cobblestone into stone and makes a rectangle on the floor. We're told that he chose it because it's nicer than cobblestone, but that he is going to mix in some cobblestone after some time. He quickly ran out of the stone after using 2 stacks and instead moved to make "a hobbit-style" mine entrance.

As he digs down, he gets an idea to make a giant scare hole. Grian then starts to make a quarry, which he will turn into a giant hole, before mentioning how he will turn it into something once he makes it, and he can brainstorm ideas after that.

He comes back up and once again starts working on his base, chatting away about how much he will appreciate it if the viewers participate and that he will be reading comments that we leave behind.

The video cuts out as Grian was fighting a creeper, which shortly exploded onto the base.

Who is C418?

Let me paint you a picture. It’s 2013, two years since Minecraft’s official release date. The game has taken the world by storm, beloved by kids and adults alike. Finally, you have succumbed to giving it a try, leading you to log onto a single-player game. You spawn into a green world, trees surrounding you and a mountain far in the distance. Slightly confused, you begin to walk around. Arriving at a tree, you start to punch it until a block pops out. You look in your inventory and see that the wood can now be crafted into other materials. You begin to realize this game is unlike any game you’ve ever played. Done away with the repetitive task lists, tutorials, and concrete gameplay, you know you have the entire creative freedom in your hands. About an hour has gone by, and you begin building a house to protect yourself from what’s to come in the night. Suddenly, a Piano chord sound strikes the ear, and the track “Minecraft” begins. Arguably, this enhances your experience in a way no other game has replicated previously, making any feeling of mundaneness vanish into relaxation. This, of course, is by design.

Let’s take it back to the beginning.  The man responsible for Minecraft’s soundtrack is a German composer by the name of Danial Rosenfield. By the screen name C418, which is a cryptic yet almost meaningless take on his brother’s creative name ‘C818’, he began his music journey from humble beginnings while working at an assembly line in Germany. He would utilize the skills taught by his brother to make music as a hobby, releasing random music to his blog almost every week. At first, he was comically bad at it, doing it for just the pure fun of it. With time, however, he began to focus in on a signature style that he liked, sparking a passion from within.  His instrumentals exuded simplicity, minimalism, and ambiance; the perfect combination for video game soundtracks.

By 2009, a Swedish man named Markus “Notch” Persson approached Rosenfield on an online indie development forum called TIG Source; This forum is where C418 would start to become more comfortable with English. Notch, building indie games for the pure enjoyment of it, had an idea for something new that he believed C418 could complement.  He asked C418 to produce the music for his latest game, Minecraft, and the rest is history. The unique part about this relationship between the two creators is that Notch allowed Rosenfield to have 100% rights to his music, as he was an indie developer who wasn’t too interested in owning the entirety of the game for monetary reasons.

Rosenfield's approach to creating the soundtrack was a direct contrast to the gameplay found in Minecraft. In its core concept of sprouted chaos ensuing unpredictable elements of the world, C418 decided to create a calming musicscape for the game. His tracks often portrayed the quality of ‘less is more,’ as a few notes were responsible for producing entire songs. He avoided too much structure and percussive beats, as they were too aligned with what was happening in the game. In 2011, when he released his first studio album, Minecraft: Volume Alpha, it was clear what direction his life would take him after that. He managed to accomplish a solid income from this work with the instant success of the game, which allowed him to rid of his mundane day job and start composing music full-time.

In 2013, he released a follow-up album to his first, Minecraft: Volume Beta. This album contained rejected tracks that would eventually become the sound of the “creative” gamemode, as well as new tracks for different biomes in the game (such as the in-game interpretation of hell, the Nether). He also included a few more dark pieces, introducing a sense of fear and diving into new emotional landscapes with his music. Furthermore, some tracks exceeded 10 minutes, including the track “Alpha,” which combined several previous elements of the first soundtrack into a celebrative piece of what the game represented. He experimented with some beats here and there, such as in the track “Aria Math,” a creative mode song that was later remixed by Protostar from Monstercat. This development on his sequel album represented the expansion on his original work, which parallels the game's development when it was released while progressively improving until the official release. 

Since then, C418 has produced soundtracks for several different games, some big and some small. He has maintained the rights to most of his music, which is an applaudable achievement that few can do at his level of popularity. He created three more tracks for Minecraft back in 2018, teasing the release of his final volume in the installment of Minecraft albums. However, Minecraft has since shifted in terms of ownership, with some implied complications with the larger company Microsoft now owning Minecraft. Nonetheless, Minecraft: Volume Alpha still remains a masterpiece to this day, used in many contexts other than the pixelated game. Whether it’s for sleep, study, or leisure, the album has served as a soundtrack that goes beyond the game and into real life. C418’s role in creating Minecraft served as a crucial one, as he enhanced the gaming experience by utilizing music as a medium; thus, C418 cemented the nostalgia for an entire generation of kids continuing the game’s popularity to this day.

The thing with Minecraft, as a whole, is that at its core of the community has become so detail oriented. It’s matured, it’s become more “you have to do it right” than any server back in 2009-2011. Is that because the community has grown into adults? Sure.

But I think there’s more to it than just my own perfectionism leaking in. You have every video on Youtube you can find at the click of a button of “don’t do this, do that instead”, or how to build, or how to play the game. I can’t just play the game and build a simple cobble and wooden house anymore. I can’t just make a pillar of leaves just for the sake of making a tower. I can’t just play the game. My brain is entirely rewired to what it once was.

I can’t just play the game anymore.

Watching videos and seeing pictures of old versions of alpha, indev, and beta versions of Minecraft makes me nostalgic and sad even if I didn’t play them myself. It was a simpler time, wasn’t it? And not just for Minecraft’s sake.

i have no idea because i haven't really played minecraft since beta 1.7.3 or so in 2011 and i didn't use redstone back then (i know things about minecraft because i watch some videos on youtube, not really "mcyt" stuff but more like video essays, so i'm not living under a rock but i don't really... play the game anymore...)

Are you ever going to make content that isn't with texture packs or mods or shaders? Some of us don't want those so it's hard to recreate your builds especially with the third person camera thing you use...

Hiiiiiiiiiii!

I assume you're talking about YouTube content with the replaymod mention but I'm just going to talk about all of my content just as a general overview here~! My general answer is going to be: no, and I don't say that because I don't want to appeal to a wider audience or give my audience what they're asking for. I just simply believe in playing the game in the way I enjoy the best, and for me, it's playing with mods, shaders, and texture packs. Even in more 'vanilla' content, I use mods and packs for connected textures, fwhip's patreon foliage pack, and bushy leaves packs because I've been playing Minecraft since it was in beta in 2011 and eventually the squareness lost it's full appeal to me. Upgrading to these types of packs brought back my passion for playing as bringing a sense of aesthetics to my worlds is one reason I really like to play Minecraft.

This could actually cause people to not like my content as much as another creator's and that's totally fine with me! Not all content out there is for us and that's absolutely fine! There are so many awesome YouTubers and streamers out there sticking to the vanilla game, using no shaders or textures, etc., and making awesome content. I just like to make the stuff I feel passionate about, in the way that I like to make it!

Overall truly there isn't a huge difference in the textures I use vs. vanilla, though shaders do add a lot with softness, light beams, realism, etc.

Changing out a few of the weird blocks like using granite or even brick instead of the red nether brick (or even just mangrove fences tbh), as well as using stripped spruce instead of the stripped dark oak you'd have virtually the same build! Using fences instead of the glass would also give you a more medieval look if you're going for that vibe, I just love the stained glass in Mizuno's-so pretty!

As much as I'd love to keep expanding my audience and making content that appeals to a wider base of people, I also want to keep making content that I find fun or passion about making, which is why I've kept a similar aesthetic for my channel no matter the series!

Sorry if this disappoints!

ALSO ETA: I do not have a tutorial channel so recreating my builds from the videos isn't my intention for you. It's just to share my world and journey. Any recreation I take no part in, you're free to do so, I just don't have time to make tutorials with my real life job, and other series and other hobbies I have! Sorry~!

Minecraft is the winner of a new awards ceremony for computer games that honors the arts.

The GameCity videogame culture festival came to an end in Nottingham and the winner was announced.

The title is the product of an independent Swedish company, Mojang. In an open environment, players must build objects using blocks.

The game was chosen over other games, including Southend Interactive's Ilomilo from Valve and Game Freak's Pokemon Noir from Game Freak.

"It's a great honour to be compared to these games," said Markus Persson Mojang's co-founder.

"Winning this award helps to make Minecraft the best game it can be."

Nearly four million users have purchased the game online, despite it being still in beta. The game is scheduled for a official release next month. minecraft servers

"It just wasn't like any other... it felt like it had an evolving life of its own. It had an organic quality," one of the judges, Ed Hall, told the BBC.

"It's easy and addictive, and there's beauty in the work you do."

Culturally confident

GameCity's director, Iain Simons, said the company was "delighted" by the choice.

His festival is now in its sixth year. He says that he has seen a rise in the average age of gamers and more women being drawn to the festival over the years.

"There is a much broader population of gamers," he said.

"They have become more mainstream They have become more culturally confident and this prize, as well as the festival, is all about examining the confidence."

A large part of this phenomenon is linked to the rise of smartphones. Smartphones today have helped make popular the type of games that were previously only available on dedicated mobile machines, as well as larger home consoles.

Advances in computers and graphics chips certainly give designers a wider palette of options. Simon doesn't think these developments will make any difference in the quality of designers and artists.

"I believe technology is an untruth. What technology is bringing forward is the capability for games to look more real. He said that it was possible to appear like a triple-A blockbuster.

"I don’t believe that they aren't art in themselves. Otherwise we wouldn't cry at Bambi. It's not just about photorealism.

The judges of the contest seem to be in agreement and admit that they picked the most basic name.

The jury consisted of 13 individuals, including Frances Barber (Dr Who), Tom Watson (Labour MP) and Jude Kelly (artistic director of Southbank Centre in London). Southbank Centre).

Enhancing life

Not everyone was convinced of Minecraft's merits at first. Nitin Sawhney (composer) was also on the panel and was uninvolved in the music.

But in the end, neither the style of the game nor its music did anything to derail its chances.

"[We askedwhich one we felt was head and shoulder above the others? Was there merit in the game enhancing life and enjoyment beyond playing the game? Could it improve your outlook on the world? said Mr. Hall.

"Could a computer game be seen as something that won't be sneered at in the future?"

Minecraft includes a variety of traditional gaming elements, such as night-roaming monsters, or the chance to battle online multiplayer.

It was chosen due to its ability to inspire gamers and its general mood.

"It's the broadest definition of art you can get," said Mr Hall.

Computer games are certainly artistic. There are stories and images that keep you entertained, ideas that boggle your mind for hours, and a total package that keeps you coming back for days."

avi exporter as Frossa worked on Meet The Pyro In Minecraft. It was just meant to be a simple thing Frossa used for his animations, but I realized that, with the newly created schematic file importer, it could be used to make entire Minecraft movies, so I implemented a simple. With the release of SFM came the idea to release Mine-imator to the public, nothing I had ever considered before. avi exporting, so Frossa would have to record the program with a screen recorder as the animation was playing (and then use chrome key in Sony Vegas to get rid of the background). During the summer I experimented with generating 3D models from schematics in GameMaker, and later decided that this could be implemented into Mine-imator to create some effects like the Pyro's flame thrower. I wanted the program to support a keyframe based system and multiple characters, as well as a resize-able interface. I told him that I could make a program specialized in animating Minecraft characters (at this point there were no plans to support items/blocks or scenery), so this would be a quick project, right? The name Mine-imator (short for Minecraft Animator) was decided almost immediately.Now we're in March 2012. Progress went very slow since the project turned out to be reasonably complex compared to anything I'd done before. Since the program was very simple and the controls were crude, the end result were choppy, short movements as shown in Meet The Spy In Minecraft. Frossa was struggling to animate TF2 characters beyond what Minecraft allowed and he used my primitive 3D animator made for the competition game, with a Steve character hacked in (with change-able skin).

At around October 2010 I found Minecraft and during the course of 2011 I became more familiar with its mechanics, making tools such as a redstone simulator, a redstone display generator and most notably a music creator (Minecraft Note Block Studio ).Įarly 2012. This project failed as well due to a lack of minigame ideas. I evolved my 3D animator slightly to improve the interface and support more characters. During the next year there was a GameMaker competition and I tried making yet another 3D game, this time a minigame collection à la Mario Party. Needless to say, I lost motivation to work on the game due to my limited 3D experience. In 2009 I wanted to create a rather complex 3D game (naive and ambitious teen as usual) and I made a simple 3D animating program for the in-game animations, featuring the characters found in the game. (See Version History ) This story had been told by David himself and is as follows: Mine-imator was long in conception before it's first beta version. Since that video's release, other youtube channels have started forming and thus the popularity. The program reached critical acclaim after the release of Frossa's Meet the Pyro in Minecraft video. It is well known for being easy to use, graphically pleasing, and being freeware. The program has since been in development for eight and more years, undergoing various improvements, bugfixes, and graphical updates.

Yes they can

But also the problem with most cracked servers is that anyone can login as anyone, meaning if someone were to login as the owner, they could screw up the server

Thats why they don't make op's the use the console command?

i just made a server but how do i play on it

Anyway... why not just host the server yourself? hamachi sucks.

Step 1. Download 'Log Me in Hamachi' [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Step 2. Download 'Minecraft_server.exe' (or the mac version) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (go down to 'Multiplayer beta server software' to download)

Step 3. Make a folder called 'minecraft server' and drag both those files in.

Step 4. Run 'Minecraft_server' untill it says 'done' then CLOSE it

Step 5. in the folder you ran this in you should have a file called 'Server properties' Open it in notepad.

Step 6. Change 'Online-mode' to false, change player numbers to your player numbers Add in at the bottom 'verify-names=false' save it. (DO NOT PUT IN YOUR IP)

Step 7. Run log me in hamachi and make a network.

Step 8. Run 'Minecraft_server' again and thats your server set up.

NOTE : your friends must have hamachi and must connect to that network, in minecraft they enter the IP that hamachi says.

Reminiscing on some of the early multiplayer minecraft experiences I’ve been a part of. Once, I was part of a guild, this was around 2011 and back then guilds really meant something. The guild I was in was themed after a group of wizards. I’ll call them Coven, our colors were blue and white. I remember there was this other guild, whom I’ll call Kingdom, and we were allies on paper but due to complex lore reasons the alliance was still pretty shaky. They were themed after like, your standard medieval knight order, and had orange and yellow as their colors with an eagle motif. We had a shared enemy, a guild I’ll call Militants, that was once really devastating back in minecraft classic servers because they had hacks that could flood any server with infinite lava. Later on there was conflict between some of Kingdom’s members and Coven’s, because some of Kingdom wanted to be allied with Militants, even though the official stance of the guild was against them. I believe they attempted to create a false-flag scenario and pinning it on Coven by blowing up the side wall of some great hall they were working on. They also were burning trees with placed lava and it turned into like an hours-long roleplay/pvp fight, a lot of items got burned that day. Later that week they got found out and got kicked out from Kingdom, only to make their own semi-secret group which allied with Militants secretly, which I’ll call Millstone. Now the important thing to note here is that Militants’ old powers no longer worked in Minecraft beta, but they were still feared like some sort of boogeyman, and sometimes people would wonder if they were still even active. People accused others being part of Millstone and it was like, a witchhunt in a wizarding order! It was honestly wild, and many things were going on behind the scenes that I wasn’t even aware of until years later at that time. I also remember I built my first SMP house on that server and the place I build it was at the end of a road that was meant to continue on, so I had to relocate it, it was honestly kinda funny too because I built it using obsidian partially and I got given diamonds out of that whole deal. Later on I built a very nice modern mini-tower house next to the massive central mage tower, and I’m pretty sure it was the fanciest building on the server. I have a lot of memories from those days.
