Might as well just live on the fuckin public transit at this point, I spend so much of my time commuting and I'm constantly exhausted and depressed and it's just!!! Fuck!!!!

He didn't know how he felt about that, his writing skills weren't bad he just dreaded having to wait for your response, not only that but even considering rejection as a factor made him wanna puke. "Don't worry, i'm like 90% sure that even if they do reject you they'll be nice about it" Mirio gave a thumbs up as he finally convinced Amajiki to start on the letter that could make or break him. It was a huge deal, you were his first ever crush and he never thought in a million years he would be confessing to you. "They're nice about everything" Tamaki mumbled as he continued to write his letter. Miro chuckled and nodded in agreement. "Exactly, you have nothing to worry about." Tamaki wondered why he was so confident about this, maybe Mirio knew you would turn him down? Thinking about that being a possibility created a pit of nervousness in his stomach. Really it was the opposite, Mirio knew you would say yes, he was just excited to finally see his favorite ship finally become a couple. Back to the present you took a seat on your bed before unfolding the note and beginning to read it. Your eyes where wide as saucers when you finished reading it, the final sentence replaying in your mind at least a hundred times "Will you go out with me?"Butterflies invaded your stomach and your cheeks flushed, you decided to give him your answer tomorrow, wanting it to sink in that the boy you've had a crush on since the dawn of time liked you back. Amajiki was dying in his room as he awaited your answer, Mirio who had come over to study with him was laughing his ass off at the boys struggle. The next day you where standing in front of Amajikis dorm room with both Mirio and Nejire at your side, they had their phones out ready to take pictures of this momentous occasion. You took a deep breath before gently knocking on his door three times, it took him a moment or two before he opened the door, he immanently stiffened as he locked eyes with you. Bracing himself for rejection he waited for it but all he heard were the words he had been wanting to hear for the past two years "I like you to Amajiki" Nejire squealed and clapped as Mirio laughed "finally oh my god" Mirio said crossing his arms. Amajiki stood frozen, having to register what just happened, after coming to the conclusion that the love of his life did indeed just agree to date him he felt a sudden rush of adrenaline and pulled you towards him by the wrist, placing his slightly quivering lips against your silky smooth ones. Nejire practically screamed as she took about a thousand pictures, Mirio looked away jokingly acting disgusted but he couldn't hold back his happiness for his friends, they found love and he was beyond proud of Amajiki for going through with his plan.   Your eyes where wide and your face was crimson by the time Amajiki pulled away. He started to apologize profusely as he realized what he just did, which resulted in you having to tell him it was fine over and over again. The two where walking together hand in hand as you made your way to class, as shy as he may be he still wanted everyone in the world and their mother know that you belonged to him now and nothing walking this Earth was going to change that.

ML Fic: Soulmate Survey Part 1

“Soulmate Searcher?” Marinette questioned with intrigue and confusion.

“Its an app that just got a global release!” Alya answered. “At first it was only released in America, but it became a huge hit and now it has international servers.”

The designer looked at her friend with even more confusion.

“So why is it so popular? And why did you want me to install it on my phone?” Marinette inquired.

“Its an app that lets you find the special someone who is your significant other. Alya explained. “Its a tried and true compatibility tester.”

Marinette’s intrigue dissipated, in her mind it was just like those cheesy magazine quizzes they put in magazines to see which celebrity  you would marry. Marinette had long outgrown that phase, especially when last time she took one it did not say she would be paired with Adrien but XY! Gross. 

“Oh. Well count me out. Those quizzes are just a load of...”

“No way lady dude.” Nino chimed in. “This thing is legit. It has the highest matchmaking app back in the States and it is like down to a science and stuff.”

Marinette looked at the DJ skeptically.

Alya placed her hand on her shoulder.

“ It is more then just a personality quiz. You put in your name, your age, dating age range, preference, and so on, and then you answer a bunch of questions that allows the app to gage your personality, mentality and emotional impulse. Then after thats done, it will match you with the top 10 people who have the highest compatibility with you in a 50 mile radius. You can see percentage rates and everything. Then you can decide if you want to message any of the people on the list or block them. They can only see your name, photo and the percentage.” Alya detailed.

“So then all a person needs to do is know what your answers are and copy them.”

“An interesting Hypothesis but sadly incorrect.” Max answered from behind the group.

“Sorry to intrude, but I too had my doubts about the app until I learned about how the app’s algorithm worked. All questions given are randomized and answering the questions the exact same way even if someone did get the same questions does not guarantee 100% compatibility. I made several dummy accounts and rigged them in order to make them both have identical questions and answers, but they did not achieve 100% compatibility.” The class egghead began to explain. 

“Having run the test numerous times with numerous accounts, the algorithm matches people with similar beliefs but not identical,  as having too much in common does not mean soul mate, it can be seen as suffocating. I have not yet cracked the theorem of how to get 100%. The highest I have been able to get is 93%.  It is as if it is a perfect formula for compatibility.” Max concluded.

Marinette had to admit her interest was peeked.

“So its a one time questionnaire and then done?” Marinette pressed with more interest.

“Well the first questionnaire takes an hour or two so it has enough data for a base compatibility profile. Then you answer 10 questions every day for 2 weeks to reaffirm any errors it might have made. Thats how the App is so successful. After about 2 weeks, your profile will be established. It was able to cut the margin of error down to 1.9%” Max exclaimed. “Its the pinnacle of mathematical perfection.”

“Thanks dude, couldn't have explained it better... really.” Nino thanked the robot enthusiast.

“Anytime, now I must head off. Markov and I have more tests to run.” Max head out and left the three teens to their own devices.

Marinette thought about it, she really didn't have much to lose trying it out.

“I even got Adrien to install it. He said he will fill it out after fencing.” Alya Whispered.

Marinette realized she had to do it. What if Adrien was on the app and some other girl had a high compatibility with him before she had a chance to try it. What if he fell in love with that mystery girl, got married and then bought a hamster!?

“Okay, I will take the quiz.” Marinette exclaimed with Confidence.

“Atta girl!”

Marinette had gone with Alya back to the Dupain Bakery in order to answer the questions in peace.

In Marinette’s room, Alya was relaxing as she watched the Designer answer the questions as honestly as possible.

“Now Girl, odds are the percentage maybe around the 70% mark, But Knowing you and Adrien, I bet you two will make it into the 80′s.” Alya answered.

Marinette nodded, half listening as she focused on answering.

“Nino and I got an 85%, which was pretty high. Ivan and Myléne only got a 79%. So no worries even if its in the 70′s”

“DONE!” Marinette exclaimed as she fell back. She was mentally exhausted. The questions were surprisingly more in depth then she expected.

She pressed submit and waited. Staring at her phone as it ‘processed her answers’

Alya stood up walking over to the bluish-black haired designer.

“Well.”

The list popped up.

Marinette scrolled through from 10 to 1. No Adrien. She felt herself sigh deeply.

“He isn't on it...” Marinette spoke defeated.

Alya took a look.

“Sorry girl, It might be he hasn't uploaded his profile yet.” Alya tried to encourage her friend who was burying her head in her pillow. 

“You think?”

“He is a busy guy, but also, you need to see who is number one on the list. A certain guitarist you happen to be fond off.” Alya said with a smile.

Marinette pulled her head up and took her phone. Sure enough, it was Luka who was number one on the list. He had an 80% compatibility rating with her, which was at least 20% higher then the guy in second place. Maybe this was a sign that she should move on from Adrien and ask Luka out.

“Maybe I should message Luka, If he believes in this sort of thing.” Marinette spoke with a blush on her face.

Alya nodded.

“Do what you think is right girl, Adrien or not, you deserve a guy that will make you happy.” 

“Thanks Alya, you are the best.” Marinette smiled sweetly at her best friend.

She clicked on the profile. The pop up asked if she would like to message the user Luka Couffaine.

Marinette paused, she was nervous about doing this. It was as if this was her crossroads. Would she go for it?

“DONE!” Adrien exclaimed as he fell back on his bed. He was mentally exhausted as well as physically. He told Alya he would try out the app as soon as he was free from fencing.

“I don't get why you even bothered with those dumb questions.” A grouchy floating cat creature commented.

“Its an in depth Compatibility test Plagg. This could be the best way of finding My lady.”

Plagg looked at the model with skepticism.

“What makes you think that you would be matched up with Ladybug? You don't even know who she is.” 

“We are soulmates, so obviously we will have the highest compatibility.” Adrien answered with confidence as he sat up.

Plagg rolled his eyes.

“You do know just because you were picked to be the cat miraculous wielder doesn't mean your soulmate is ladybug. There have been Ladybug’s and Chat noir’s that haven't gotten together.”

“It isn't because we were chosen together. I can just feel it Plagg. I know we are meant to be. And if for some reason the girl with the highest compatibility with me isn't Ladybug, I will still likely find someone that I can find myself liking. But knowing my Lady, she and I will have a compatibility of 85 maybe even 90%” Adrien answered with a loving sigh. “Oh, its ready.”

Adrien smiles at his phone before looking at the list.

“Oh Kagami is on here. 79% Thats pretty good. But she is only number two? Huh, so then who is number one?” Adrien spoke aloud as he scrolled. As he saw the name that was number one his face turned beet red and and he fell back on the bed.

“Adrien!?” Plagg exclaimed as he flew to the frozen blond. “What happen.... oh no Fucking way.”

Marinette was about to press the button when another pop up appeared.

“List updated?”

Marinette clicked out of Luka’s profile and noticed he was now at second place.

“Luka got moved to second.” Marinette spoke with surprise.

“What? Then whose first?”

Marinette scrolled up. Her eyes went Wide.

“ADRIEN!?!?” Marinette shouted.

Alya smiled.

“I knew it! I told you he would be on your list! And Number one to boot. So what  is the percentage. 82? 85% Like Nino and I?”

“100...” Marinette spoke hardly audible.

Alya couldn't hear.

“How much?”

Marinette turned her phone to Alya.

Alya’s jaw dropped.

“1.... 100%!!!!!!!!!!”

Plagg could not contain his laugher. The blond was still frozen staring at his screen. Adrien had no idea how right he was. His Lady and him were perfect for each other. Plagg was absolutely loving every second of this. 

“P-Plagg.”

The black cat managed to calm down.

“Ye Ha HA! Yea Adrien?” Plagg responded between laughing fits.

“Marinette is Ladybug.”

Plagg sobered up quick.

“What... What makes you say that?” Plagg spoke, trying his best and failing at hiding the fact that Adrien was right. Thankfully Adrien was too out of it to notice.

Plagg pauses.

“Ladybug is my soulmate, Marinette scored perfect compatibility with me  on the soulmate app. Even with error included, the chances of that happening are…”

“It’s a silly quiz.” Plagg shouted. Tikki would kill him if Adrien found out at the wrong time. He had to play dumb.

Adrien thought about it, maybe he was overthinking it, plus Alya and Nino scored around 85%. Maybe the system was glitching out? 100% was unheard off according to what he found about the app, even with people who tried it and have been married for decades.

“I guess you are right… Besides, you answer questions each day, the percentages will shift. Maybe the system will correct itself, though I should ask Marinette what her thoughts are about the match up tomorrow. Though... even if it isn't Ladybug... Marinette is a pretty nice person to have good compatibility with.”

Adrien felt himself entertaining the thought of him and Marinette together. It seemed really, really nice. He found himself blushing at the thought. He quickly shook the thought off. He was getting ahead of himself. What if Marinette didn't feel the same way he did? What if Luka saw the compatibility score that Marinette got with him and decided not to date Marinette because of it. Marinette does really like that musician, what if Marinette hates him for ruining her chance at happiness!?

Adrien took a calming breath. He won't say anything, the app still needs to fine tune his profile. he is sure it will correct itself if it needs to within the two weeks, after that, he will look into it.

“I am sure that things will fix themselves.” Adrien said as he turned away from the cat Kwami, though part of him really hoped that the 100% would stay.

it's such a complicated case but in short(ish):

1993 in west memphis arkansas, three eight year old boys go missing and are later found murdered in the woods. the community is freaking the fuck out and because it's 1993 small town arkansas and satanic panic is sweeping the nation people go ITS SATANISM IT WAS A SATANIC RITUAL and the police keep interviewing this 18 year old named damien echols because he was into witchcraft and listened to metallica and wore all black (genuine points brought up in court like this is what the entire case is built on). im skipping some details here cause its all oh so convoluted but basically they eventually interrogate a 17 year old named jessie miskelley jr who confesses to the crime and implicates damien and damien's best friend jason baldwin (16, looks about 11). so then ofc they all get arrested

issue is: jessie is a minor with a reported iq of 72 and they interrogated him non stop for 12 hours with no parent or attorney present (his dad agreed to let them speak to him but they didnt tell him it was an interrogation) and less than an hour of it was recorded. jessie claims the cops coerced him into his confession and even on the 40 something minutes of interrogation we do have available to listen to you can hear the cops just continuously leading him on like theyll ask when this happened and he says a time and they go no the kids were in school then it was later wasnt it and he's like yeah it was [later time] and theyre like no it was around 8 wasnt it? and hes like yeah yeah it was then and it goes on like that foreverrrrr

ok im getting into too much detail here im sorry theres so much more anyway anyway TRIALS HAPPEN and its all a whole bunch of bullshit and hbo recorded it all for hit documentary paradise lost (watch it) and hhhooooooly shit!

theres way too much to talk about w the trial but besides everyone being fucking cracked and damien being a smartass and the judge looking bored out of his goddamn mind throughout the whole thing (FUCK that judge) one notable part that didnt come out until later is that during jury selection this one guy was hell bent on getting on the jury cause he wanted them convicted and not only was he let on the jury he became the jury foreman which goes against like every law cause juries are supposed to go into court with no preconceived notions of what happened. also jessie had a separate trial cause he wouldnt testify against jason and damien which means his "confession" wasnt admissible in their trial and the jury werent allowed to consider it, but the jury actively discussed the confession while making their decision (jury members have said they did + it was written on their goddamn whiteboard) which. h

ANYWAYYY so jessie and jason get life in prison without the possibility of parole and damien gets sentenced to death. damien is 19 at this point with a newborn baby. jason isnt even 18.

so then they go away and the documentary paradise lost comes out and everyone collectively loses their goddamn fucking minds cause how the fuck did this happen they didnt even have a single piece of actual evidence except a piece of hair that MAY match damien but also its the early 90s and they dont actually have a fucking clue

years go by, everythings happening so much, their appeals get shot down one by one cause its the same fucking judge and ofc hes not gonna admit any fault. the public suspect john mark byers (rest in peace he died like a month ago in a traffic accident, btw he also didnt do it but thats also a lot to go into. interesting guy, definitely inbred, violent tendencies but not a murderer) one of the kids' stepdads (technically adoptive dad cause he legally adopted the kid after he married his mum but hes generally referred to as his stepdad) of having done it cause hes fucking massive and is quite possibly the most colourful character ive seen in my life like that guy had no idea what was going on ever and he was hell bent on the teens having done it and wanted to kill them all UNTIL! until. 2007, they test the dna in the case and SHOCKINGLY turns out none of the west memphis 3's dna is anywhere to be found, the shit they had that could be damien's turns out to not even remotely match him in the slightest and suddenly theyre there like. well. now theres nothing. and yet theyre still in prison cause everyone who got them convicted is like NO THEY DID IT :) but the public outrage is so much by this point and finally they get to take it to the supreme court who take one look at it and are literally like ??? what the fuck happened here give them a new trial what the literal hell (theres a video of it their faces are literally so funny they all look like they absolutely cannot believe this required their help) so in 2011 they finally have the opportunity to retrial with a new judge but SUDDENLY the state of arkansas go um actually we are gonna offer you an alford plea which basically means they legally plead guilty to the charges while still saying they didnt do it and then they get let out but the state wont have to admit fault or reopen the case cause in their eyes these three are still guilty but theyre gonna let them out anyway cause that makes a whole lot of sense i guess. lol basically the state realised there was a real chance they could get exonerated in which case they were gonna get sued to hell and back and went FUCK give them a deal

now jason didnt want to take the deal he wanted to wait for the new trial and risk getting found guilty again cause he said this isnt justice for the kids cause the real killer or killers are still free and its not justice for us cause we have to plead guilty to save the asses of the system that failed us all BUT all three of them have to agree for it to be valid and damien's execution date, which he's already narrowly avoided on several occasions like its already been postponed multiple times, is once again coming up and if the new trial somehow goes wrong and hes sent back to death row he's gonna be killed so jason decided fuck all of that and agreed to the plea exclusively to save damien which ok ride or die king

i havent gone into who really did it cause once again there is SO much but the majority of people think it was terry hobbs (the stepdad of another one of the victims) including the kid's mother whos now his ex wife who he abused to no end. theres a Lot to this theory and while theres no concrete evidence cause they did a shittyass job with everything theres already more dna linking him to the scene than the teens. god i really wanna go into everything that points to terry being at least somehow involved but this has already gotten so out of hand

At 5, I read on a 12th grade level (and I sobbed in the counselors office about having no friends)

At 8, I was snuck into gifted classes even after failing the test to get into them (and the other kids parents got me kicked out)

At 9, I sang 4 different solos in school choir that year (I went through my most traumatic parental experience I ever had with my father)

At 10, I was student of the year,highest gpa, And principals choice. ( I got on the bus and sobbed suicidally about it because the kids cracked jokes cus everyone thought I was trying to be better than them. )

At 11, I had 3000 AR points. (And deeply rooted self esteem issues started to surface)

By 12, I had a bookshelf full of academic trophies and medals (and I broke them all in anger one day)

At 14, i wrote another poem about my dead dad and won a first place and a spot in the American library of poetry ( i smoked my first blunt snorted my first pill and I never bought the book)

At 15, I never had down to a dress code on my record but I got sent to alternative school for something stupid. (I became the talk of my old high school)

At 16, My mom set it up for me to be skipped from sophomore to junior year and I stayed at school everyday Monday thru Saturday until 5pm (high asl with fresh & itching cuts under my sleeves)

At 17, i made a 28 on the act. I graduated a year before anyone I grew up with. I got an academic scholarship to my number one pick out of state. And I had my first experience living in my own world, but apart from (There was brief mental peace. God had mercy.)

At 18, I had to leave college but got hired at about 7 places. 4 which I would actually go to work for.. the longest being 6 months. I began to have new,deep experiences in love and life. my spiritual views started to form. I began to feel as though I was beginning to live more authentically {haha based on now boy was I so damn wrong but it was a start fr} (I found out I was sick, I bottled up all my non positive emotions about my relationship/partner and was inside a resentful bitter sex addict w control issues and insecurities & outside an emotionally unstable needy & affectionate bitch, my relationship with my only living parent was hell {esp if I was even out of a job for a second}, I cried more than my depression years combined)

At 19, everything started to slowly shift. I got a first glimpse at my real spiritual gifts. (my boyfriend was a fuckboy) I got approved for my first apartment signed my first lease. (I screamed & cried in my room at the top of my lungs the day before moving in) then everything was magic. (I found out my boyfriend was REALLY a fuckboy) I started my music career as Pixi K and my first couple songs would hit the thousands in a week. (I found out my boyfriend was deadass from h*ll or basically somewhere where they don’t have a conscience bc what the hEll *~*) I had my first visions that I can’t tell anybody about frfr bc They’re from light years ahead.

I got lost in the sauce because this became a chest off to the universe and also helped me release those residual emotions from some of those childhood experiences. But There was a direction I was going with this, all my brightest moments to others.. the moments where I used my ambition..or my talent...or my love..or was accomplishing goals just to try to get the same people that made me feel smaller than I physically am to see that I have WORTH/be proud/validate me... have been my souls darkest moments. My mentally darkest moments. My spiritually lowest moments. And the craziest part about it is 90% of it all: NOBODY KNEW. & NOBODY CARED TO KNOW. Imagine trying to please everyone while ur engulfed in flames constantly. but everyone had something to say to belittle, something to do to kick while I was down, something to push me into overdrive, exhausting my energy & will to live.

I don’t wanna perform for nobody myself. I don’t wanna Change for nobody but myself. I don’t wanna answer to nobody by myself. Ion wanna move on nobody time but my own and I OWE IT TO MYSELF. OWE. I’ve lived my whole life for other people. IM SIXK OF MY OWNNN SHIT. I LOVE MYSELF. Most Annoying Character: Bai Suet Yi

From drama “Finding Her Voice”, portrayed by Jacqueline Wong.

Every year there’s a drama character that pisses me off. I thought this years would be the stupid Emperor from Justice Bao. Because he’s a horny, coward that only cares about his status as the Emperor. But nope. This year goes to Bai Suet Yi. Who was much more annoying.

Bai Suet Yi starts off with running out on the rent. Lying to her grandfather about her marital status. Forcing her best friend to play a pretend trope of wife & husband. Moving into his house unceremoniously. Sneaking back into the apartment to take her things away & running out on her unpaid rent again.

Yup. Her character starts off unlikeable. And as we keep watching, I just get more and more annoyed with her. She’s a 30 year old woman. Yet she’s lazy does no household chores. Dirty (she barely showers). Can’t cook, so resorts to ordering take out for her grandfather. And she’s really wishy- washy with her feelings. She still *likes* her doctor husband, yet she’s always avoiding him. When he seemingly wants a divorce she gets upset. Her husband wants to meet up with her to clear the misunderstanding and she runs away. Every time she sees him she makes a run for it.

The reason for the separation between her & her doctor husband? Because she’s insecure. She doesn’t believe a struggling artist like her should be with a rich & handsome doctor like him. Um.. Yup that’s why. No cheating. No neglect. Just her thinking a perfect guy shouldn’t be with her. I mean at least she acknowledges she’s not the best catch. But in the end are you serious? Realizing you’re not good enough for him is the catalyst for her to fall out of love with him? What kind of sorcery is this? You can’t move pass your own insecurity so you decide to leave a man that loves you dearly? That’s it folks. Don’t marry up or you’ll just want a divorce. Of course, maybe she never loved him & found that out afterwards. But that makes it worse. Cause he has fallen for you for real & you technically strung him along cause you couldn’t figure out your own feelings.

Ah Nam which is her best friend also has a crush on her. For reasons I don’t know. She’s always taking advantage of him. He pays for almost everything. She made him lie. And he’s always the one that has to ask for forgiveness. Regardless if he’s wrong or not. Examples here: when Ah Nam set up a time & place so Suet Yi could clear out the misunderstanding with her husband. She gets super pissed that “he’s not on her side”. Um he’s not on anyone’s side, he just wants you guys to make up so you’re not sad anymore. When her husband told her he asked Ah Nam to take care of her when he’s not around. She always gets pissed over this. Yes, he asked him but guess what Ah Nam is not obligated to listen to him. HE CHOSE TO HELP YOU. He makes his own decisions. It’s not as if her husband paid him or he got any benefits out of this. When they went undercover at a wedding dress store to investigate. She gets cold feet all of a sudden? I guess it reminded her of her failed marriage (that she caused herself). So Ah Nam being understanding that she’s uncomfortable, he gets someone else to investigate with him. Well she finds out & gets pissed. Okay once again. Sure be mad at the guy that was trying to look out for your feelings. At this point she was obviously jealous, but come on.

She’s a huge coward. When things get uncomfortable for her she just goes into hiding. Evident with her husband, since she moved out & avoided him. Instead of talking it out, like normal couples. And when she finally realizes she wants to divorce, she doesn’t even have the decency to do it face to face. She just calls him and gives him a speech about “how they don’t belong together”, “let’s get divorced”. For real. He’s the man you married & made a vow to love. He’s also the man that still loves you & you decide to break it off this way. Haven’t you heard of “never break up with someone over the phone”, well it’s the same thing with marriage! He never once looked down you because of your job, or how you didn’t do housework & he never complained about you. It was YOU that got insecure because of what others say. You care way too much about what others think. If you believe you’re not good enough for him, you step up and become someone that can rightfully stand with him not run away. Suet Yi you’ve never loved him. And I hate how it turned out this way.

Poor Ah Nam, cause she also ran away when she found out he had a crush on her. Yup. Despite the fact she left her grandfather chilling at his house. She just peaced out, while Ah Nam took care of her grandfather for the time being. Then when Ah Nam tracks her down, he’s all like “if you feel uncomfortable with me in the apartment, I’ll move out & you can stay there”. Ummmm WHAT IS GOING ON? Ah Nam THATS YOUR APARTMENT! And then shameless, selfish Suet Yi decides to do just that. So yeah, she’s living comfortably there, living at his apartment, using his furniture & equipment. While Ah Nam is sleeping on the couch elsewhere cause she’s too “uncomfortable”. Oh also, while she’s staying there she still doesn’t do any housework. So once a Ah Nam & her make up he’s gonna have a lot of cleaning to do. Thanks Suet Yi! You’re the best, can’t even take care of an apartment that you don’t own.

I don’t even like Ah Nam & Suet Yi together. I don’t feel the chemistry between them. Ah Nam is a nice character and all but nope. I’m perfectly fine with them staying as friends.

I want to point out this character has nothing to do with Jacqueline playing this role. Even if the scandal never happened, and she’s squeaky clean, I’d still hate this character. In fact, her acting was fine in this drama. Jacqueline has always been a good actress. She can enunciate her words well. She can emote. She doesn’t overreact. Her crying scenes were superb. I could see her winning Best Actress one day if it wasn’t for her stupidity.

TVB totally could’ve replaced her and have another actress take this role. When news first came out they were airing this drama, completely unedited with all her scenes intact. I thought hey now, maybe her role is so small there’s no point to refilm? Even the directors claim that the drama is focused on the “middle age class” and that her screentime isn’t that much. Okay, THAT IS A LIE. She has a heavy amount of screentime. And I was so shocked. That was a blatant lie. She appears in every single episode.

I get it in the end she’s main lead. But let me tell you. Her character IS VERY UNNECESSARY. Other than in the beginning when she helped reunite her grandfathers old students, her character becomes irrelevant. Her plot is basically separate from the 5 middle age best friends. Her storyline is basically the romance filler point that is appears in this drama. And what’s her romance story? Best friends to lovers trope.

Her character appears in 90% of the scenes with her best friend while the other 10% is with her grandfather + middle age friends. So yes, they could’ve just reshoot her scenes. They just needed Owen Cheung to completely refilm their scenes while with King Sir and the middle age friends could’ve been done with the magic of editing (which they are also doing for Forensic Heroes 4). So I’m super confused why they didn’t. Was TVB that cheap? It wasn’t like they needed ALLL ORIGINAL ACTORS to reshoot.

Honestly they just needed Owen Cheung which they could get since he’s a contracted & promoted artiste. Hell, if they can get Selena Lee, a non-contracted artiste to refilm her FH4 scenes then they can get Owen. Obviously, this was TVBs shameless attempt to test the waters with how the audience now feels about Jacqueline. Also, if they had just cut out Jacquelines scenes it would’ve ended up being a 20 episode drama instead of 30. So yeah, her love story is a unnecessary huge part of the drama. Though I do admit it would be unfair to Owen since basically all his scenes is with Jacqueline.

On an ending note. Suet Yi is an annoying character that does not deserve love from both man. Also if you think “oh she’ll change for the better” later in the drama. Well she doesn’t - she stayed exactly the same with maybe more sense of responsibility? The only change I saw is her not wearing glasses anymore. I hope this fictional character changes drastically for the better beyond this drama. And I ain’t surprised she’s got no girl best friend.

Rambly Teen Wolf/Big Wolf On Campus meta

Preface this by saying I didn’t expect to actually get into TW. This show kicked me in the teeth, balls and every organ I do and do not possess. If I’m going to be any degree of helpful, I need some structure up in here. Fair warning, it’s just like my opinion man.

1. Characters

Tommy is Scott. A werewolf with a heart of gold that cares deeply about people around him. It’s explored much more in depth with TW, duh - they had more seasons, more money and a higher age rating, using more drama and angst. But the outline is definitely there: they are both introduced to the fantastic world of lycanthropy by their extremely knowledgeable and helpful buddies (Merton/Stiles respectively), can be shitty to their best friends (Tommy throwing Merton under the bus to save his popularity/Scott abandoning Stiles for Allison multiple times), take on the role of the designated savior of the town from supernatural threats, prefer non-lethal methods, are Alphas (Tommy’s status could be contested, I guess, but the show never put an actual emphasis on pack dynamics, probably they thought it was too odd of a concept to start explaining because then you have to get to the whole omega part and that is c o m p l i c a t e d), fight organized evil!werewolves, had two main love interests, none of which held up (yeah, weaksauce, but I thought I’d still put it out there), kinda subpar in academics but good athletes. Scott gets so much more actual character development it’s not even funny, while Tommy just sort of meanders in what he has and gets dumbed down a lot for seasons 2/3.

Merton is Stiles, no shit. A nerd best friend, a friend in need more importantly, a loyal (mostly) spastic (very) companion. Dynamic between sciles and tommerton (platonically) is quite different because of how their backstories differ - after all, Scott and Stiles have known each other since forever, while Tommy pays attention to Merton only after being bitten, when they become friends almost out of necessity. But there is no denying that all four of them, in their respective duos, are joined at the hip, oftentimes with an inclusion of a girl to break up their awesome bromance (Allison/Lori and Stacy). Merton/Stiles go unappreciated for their efforts a lot, especially if you consider they are human and yet get into the same exact shit as fast and durable werewolves, surviving by wits, last ditch effort loyalty change (Merton) or a fear override (Stiles) and saving the day half of the time because they actually do research. Both seem to have a penchant for magic (unsubtly implied but never expanded upon for Stiles), both are comedic reliefs, even if in slightly different ways as commanded by the genre, both are excellent students, both are mostly unsuccessful with women and ambiguously bi/pan/omni, if you consider the technically non-human options. Complicated family relationships. Both have abandonment/commitment issues, both room (jury is still out there for sciles because of 6b) with their best friends in college. As for notable differences, Stiles undergoes a massive character transformation, a monumental shift, I’d say - not exactly doing a 180, but inching closer than any other character to actual plot relevant growth, and not for better, which is a rarity. Merton’s personality also changes for the worse, but it’s a result of clumsy writing and forced female presence in the shows plot as a romantic crutch. It would be interesting if fan meta on Merton’s less ehh flattering moments was expanded upon and explained in the series; what I wouldn’t give for an actual quality heart to heart between Tommy and Merton Ike every show nowadays seems to have in abundance, where they call each other out on their issues.

Women are more complicated. There are no exact parallels, barring the very basic archetypes, which would do no justice to any of the four, namely Allison and Lydia for TW and Lori and Stacy for BWOC. But yes, Allison is close to Lori - a fighter, someone who can take it and dish it out. Problem with Lydia/Stacy comparison is that it breaks down as soon as Lydia gets a sliver of character development, because at first, her queen bee status definitely resonated with Stacy, but while she was put on a bus without any real involvement in the show’s plot, Lydia becomes downright plot essential.

2. Writing

BWOC had an incredible season 1, with select episodes of season 2 being very good and, well, we don’t talk about season 3. Point being, even with the constraints of a cheap Canadian show for kids it managed some genuine brilliance, I’m sure in a big way thanks to the chemistry between cast members (specifically the two of consequence). Monster Of The Week format certainly seemed to work well for them, and I will forever mourn the loss of all the potential arcs and plot twists that never saw the light of day. TW had the privilege of, despite a mediocre display in season 1, becoming popular enough to spawn 5 more seasons, and I think they definitely had very strong moments, most of them carried on the back of Dylan O'Brien, like void!Stiles, relationship between him and his dad, and yes, his relationship with Derek, which turned out to be largely inconsequential to the plot (writers queerbaited the f u c k out of its audience and then just did nothing of worth with the pairing, BUT THATS HARDLY RELEVANT). I don’t know whether Peter Knight is just that good or the innocent nature of BWOC lends itself to less complicated plots and finished stories, but most BW episodes were microcosms, closed systems that had little bearing on any overarching storylines. They provided closure, well-defined villains and good guys, which is a very appealing quality, if a touch simplistic. I admit, I would’ve liked to see something with more “depth” and conflict, but the restrictions of the channel/network/rating are nothing to sneeze at. TW on the other hand ties almost every episode into another, weaving a continuous storyline. Personally, I think they should’ve done more one off episodes to break up the monotony of waiting for action set pieces. You need some hella witty dialogue to keep people watching while fuck all is happening and they sort of failed at that (again, Stiles carried most of the comedy). Almost everyone in BWOC is uniquely likable; TW has a much bigger cast so they definitely had ups and down as far as character writing was concerned.

Main problem with this whole disjointed comparison is how you can’t compare things that aren’t on the same level. It’s not a dig at quality or anything, but TW had 6 seasons and a huge budget, while BW barely got 3. TW and BWOC kinda started in a similar vein, but boy do they differ. That being said, I have an inkling that BW may have ended up looking a lot like TW in different circumstances - if it was made at a later date, on another channel, with a different rating/audience in mind. But then again, a lot of good things BW is liked for are a direct result of these aforementioned “hurdles” - all the double entendres would never fly for a tv-14 rated show, its generally cheerful and uplifting tone was probably required by the network and being a child of the 90s it carried a lot of charm that would be borderline impossible to fabricate now if they wanted to keep the ~aesthetic. So I can only compare real TW with hypothetical BWOC that got a bigger budget and more screentime. But doing that makes NO SENSE, so imma just finish with some general thoughts about the direction show might’ve gone.

I genuinely think that in different circumstances, Merton could’ve had a wonderfully dark character development. He’s a non-violent character, but does have this morbid curiosity that could’ve put him eventually in a position to cause grievous bodily harm to someone. He seems to get off on power play (both having power over someone and surrendering it), and that’s a slippery slope for an emotionally tender and damaged character. Tommy is his rock in a number of ways, his human connection outlet, a more teen oriented show would, of course, use his ‘scars’ to carry the narrative of overcoming tragedy. Merton does the same for Tommy, being his emotional support, because how liberating it must be to not hide his werewolf side and he could do it literally with 1 (one) person before Lori came into focus. Queerbait aside, their relationship was great, a deep involved friendship, and with Tommy being so resistant to evilness and Merton being so easily corruptible, they could’ve played off this contrast in a way more interesting than what we saw in s3.  

I also would’ve loved to see some female characters that aren’t barely two-dimensional; Stacy was, in one word, confused - we know very little of her actual personality, aside from her feminism rhetoric and an allergy to committed relationships. Lori was ‘the action girl’, and she got a slightly bigger piece of pie, but still not nearly enough. Fuck, I don’t even know if the show passes a Bechdel test. TW showed us actual fleshed out female friendships that weren’t toxic or competitive, would’ve been nice to see something of the sort in BWOC.

dragon ball super is full of these really cool ideas that it utterly fails to execute in a satisfying manner.

like for every moment where im about to go “hell yea this is awesome” it immediately gets ruined minutes maybe even seconds later.

the only time where that didn’t happen was the zamasu/goku black arc.  it was riddled with a lot of the issues that super has (power levels being wildly inconsistent, random power-ups for characters, etc.) but it was able to execute its ideas so well that the issues didn’t really matter.  it was easy to ignore them because everything else that was happening was so goddamn cool.

but this current tournament arc is just wack as hell.  we get the introduction of not one, but two new lady super saiyans, one of which is the LEGENDARY super saiyan.  she gets this moment to be godlike and kick super saiyan blue goku’s ass which was sick.  it would have been a much cooler moment if not for the fact that like a minute or two later she instantly gets jobbed out in a single hit by an entirely different character.

then you have goku and vegeta talking about wanting to conserve energy for the battle royale which is why they didnt instantly go super saiyan blue and defeat like 90% of the fighters.  it provides an acceptable, if nonsensical, reasoning for why goku (and vegeta) is fighting in his base/regular super saiyan forms.  but then like...10 minutes later both vegeta and goku go super saiyan blue and unleash their two strongest attacks, kamehameha and final flash, just to knock a few jobbers off the stage.

what the f**k?  what happened to conserving energy?

then you have the other z fighters who have a plan for getting through the fight.  they figured that every one was going to be gunning for them, so they stood in a battle circle so they could cover each others backs.  THEYVE BEEN STANDING IN A FREAKIN CIRCLE FOR LIKE 5 EPISODES ALREADY AND HAVE DONE JACK SHIT.  no one is gunning for them.  or if people do attack them, they dont show what happens really before cutting away to goku or vegeta.

gohan shouldnt have a problem defeating a grand majority of the fighters in this battle royale, now that he has his ultimate form again.  him and piccolo could team up and we could get some cool fights with other combatants, but no, lets just have them stand around for episodes at a time.

also, they show a yardrat from another universe; the alien species that taught goku the instant transmission.  it’s kind of cool potential setup for a future fight.  goku is fighting this character who is using that very move to teleport around him and you think you are going to get the battle of the instant transmissions. surely, thats what the setup is for.  but no, not a single punch is thrown between the two before another character flies in from off screen, punches the yardrat character right off the stage in a single punch, eliminating him from the tournament.

im watching this show out of my overwhelming love of dragon ball as a series, but holy shit its testing my patience.  its just so freakin bad and its hard to deal with.

i might read the manga though, since i heard its dramatically better.

[HM] A random (hopefully funny/entertaining) tale about a young man, a Chevy Spark, a few life lessons, and a car accident.

So this was about a year and a half ago. I was 21 and desperate to get CHEAP/new car. First of all let me start off by saying I was young and dumb (still young and dumb). I tend to make irrational and quick decisions when i’m excited about something. For personal reasons that I don’t wanna get into I was not able to receive a license until I was 21. So when I finally got my license I needed, let me re-phrase that...had the biggest urge/desire to buy a car like the day before my license came in the mail. Also getting a car would allow me to start a new career.

Now for financial, and impatient reasons I was going to finance the car. Now when I say finance I really mean have the LOWEST monthly payment possible. My job requires me to drive 100-200+ miles a day mostly highways so leasing was out of the question. I also did not, and still do not want to buy used. Which is a whole separate argument for a whole different day. Anyway I was literally looking for the cheapest 2018 model car ever created.

It’s a week before fourth of July and the cheapest car I could find was a 2018 Chevy Spark for around 13k. I figured what the hell I’ve waited 21 long years on my skateboard I can wait another week to try and get the “fourth of July deals” to increase my wheel size from 59mm to 200mm.

Boom after checking “cars.com” everyday, on July 7th 2018 I pull up with my dad to a chevy dealership 90 miles away from home. Me, feeling like a Russian mobster (I’m Russian haha) on the outside, and as excited as a young school girl on the inside walk inside with my dad. I pull out my phone and show the sales guy the ad I saw. 2018 Chevy Spark for $10,001 in a lightish blue.

Keep in mind I did NO research. I read NO reviews. My mind was set on this Chevy Spark. You could tell me 9/10 Chevy Sparks are reported to have a mind of their own and drive off of cliffs at 50k miles and I would still buy it without a second thought.

Now I’m sure all of you can relate to a certain degree. You know the feeling of being so damn excited for something. The feeling of wanting something so damn bad that you would do irrational things to get it. In that moment you don’t want to hear anything negative about your decision. You just want IT. At the time it was the only thing I could afford so in my mind it was either the Chevy Spark or never drive a car again in my whole life.

Back to the dealership, the sales guy asked if I wanted to test drive it, and for that 90 second circle in the parking lot (I didn’t even take my time I just wanted to get back and sign the paperwork) I fell in love what felt like for the first time. I didn’t even fall in love with the car I fell in love with the feeling of driving hopefully my neat future car.

This is a Chevy Spark LS. I’m talkin manual windows, no power locking, no center console, cheap speakers, feel ever pebble on the road, get blown off the highway when a gust of wind or even ANY car passes by. I’m talkin a car that teaches you what claustrophobia is. A car that feels like you’re sitting inside one of those electric cars for toddlers. You get the point this was a bare skeleton with a piece of plastic around it. But I loved it.

I had pretty good credit at the time so I was able to finance my first big purchase. 7.9 APR at 178 a month. At the time thats literally all I could afford. Ya know with insurance being so stupidly expensive if you’re young. So after a long day of paperwork and the sales guy telling us he literally can’t even drop a penny off the price I drove my baby home.

Fast forward to January 1st 2020 around 5pm: “DAD I NEED YOU TO COME TO ME I JUST SLAMMED INTO A PARKED CAR GOING 60”

Okay okay I know you’re excited to hear what happens next but let me back up a little.

For my job I spend A LOT of time on the road and in my car. 200+ miles/6+ hours a day is not uncommon. I’m about 5’7 and 150 pounds so I’m not the biggest guy. I’m a nice guy, but the Chevy Spark taught me what it feels like to be uncomfortable. It taught me what anxiety is. It taught me that you can have road rage at yourself.

A little insight on my job; Im an in home sales man for home improvment. The owner of the company I work for (he took a liking to me because he is also Russian) knew I was planning on getting a car. He told me when I get a car he will train me in becoming a sales rep. Promoting me from my position as a telemarketer. So knowing this made me that much more in a rush to buy a car. We drive to appointments everyday, and sometimes just sit in the car to wait/chill in between appointments. So basically 2/3 of the work day is spent in the car, and the work days can sometimes be 9am to 11pm.

Me being naive and irrational did NOT think about these things when purchasing a car. I did NOT realize how important comfort is when sitting in the car all day. Sure the first 6 months I was so excited about having a car that I did not think about these things, but things quickly changed.

I started to get really angry and started to despise working. I would wake up KNOWING I’m about to be very uncomfortable and annoyed inside of my car.

Every detail about the car is horrible. My left elbow rested on what felt like rough old cement, and the rigid surface would leave marks on my arm. My right arm would always be itchy from the cheap cloth armrest. My left leg literally had no where to go. THE WORST PART ABOUT THE CAR THOUGH, my left knee would literally almost ALWAYS be touching the manual window roller handle. Half the time the handle was either directly on top of my knee or directly in front of my knee. I had nightmares about crashing the car only because I knew when I did that handle would be the end of my knee.

There was no storage compartments in the car. I had no where to put my phone, my change, my wallet, anything else comfortably. Because it’s a tiny hatchback my back seats would ALWAYS have to be pushed forward to fit all of my work stuff (giant bags). MEANING I could not push/lean my seat back enough. It was the equivalence to those people in the asian countries that live in the tiny apartments that look lime walk in closets.

Now I’m a music guy so listening to music is a must. Not even a year and my speakers started to blow... The speakers sounded like an old nokia phone in the first place. Or a better description would be when your earphones break so you have to pull out the old trusty $9 backup earphones from ross. Constantly I would think about installing better speakers but just never got around to me

There are 2 lessons to be learned from this pointless post, but one of them is how important comfort is when picking a car to own. I will now NEVER sacrifice comfort in the future. Not just in a car, but in anything.

Okay now....January 1st 2020 at about 4:30pm on a very main road. My new years resolution was to stop smoking cigarettes so this was day one!

So around that time of year it can get slow for my job. So as a side hustle I started doing Uber Eats. Let me take a quick second to say CHEVY SPARK DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR RIDE SHARING BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE 5 SEATBELTS. I was EXTREMELY mad when I found that out AFTER I bought the car.

Since the car is so uncomfortably small it took many many attempts to find a phone mount/holder that was just okay. I finally found one that required my phone to be right in the middle. Keep in my mind this is my first day using it. Also keep in mind I am Russian and it was just new years. RIP to my liver the night before.

Here I am driving 60 on a very main road. My phone is right in the middle and I’m looking at it trying to figure out where I’m supposed to deliver this burger to. Uber eats; pick up food from restaurant and deliver to customer As I’m looking at my phone in the middle, while singing along to my music, most likely thinking about life, 100% hoping my headache would go away, wondering what my girlfriend is doing, admiring how warm my new north face jacket that I just bought is. Basically doing everything but paying attention to the road (And I’m sorry my grammar is getting worse as this post is going its 3am and I stopped caring as much LOL). I’ve been driving for a year and a half now I’m so confident in my self I can drive with my eyes closed using my feet.

Anyway, BAM I look up and my car is basically inside of an Audi SUV. “FUCK!!!!!!” “Fuck fuck fuck fuck” close my eyes cause its a dream open them cause I’m waking up after a nightmare “FUCK”

This is my first accident. I was going 60mph, at this point I’m completely speechless and very shocked. Every one always told me that car was a death wish but after about 5 seconds of stating in front of me I immediately climb over the airbags and exit the smoking, pulverized hunk of plastic.

I slammed into a parked car on the right side of the road. Really horrible too, thank you seatbelt. I don’t even know what to do in this situation so I’m dumbfounded. Witnesses are asking if I’m okay I was so all I could say was “yeah I’m okay”

I called my dad, and after what seemed like a minute he shows up. The owners of the parked car came out of the restaurant all normal accident stuff. I had a sprained finger, bruises yada yada.

Now my insurance wanted nothing to do with is since I was doing uber. I filed a claim through uber’s insurance and they said I’ll be covered. Awesome, score, BUT I didn’t know what gap insurance was at the time. I failed to do my research which I always end up having to learn a lesson cause of sometimes heedless decisions.

I had 8 thousand left to pay off my car loan and 40k miles on the car. I for sure thought it was over. I was done, game over. Every one told me the insurance would pay me 5 MAYBE 6 thousand for the car leaving my to pay off the rest.

Now I’m not religious but by some kind of mystical higher power I was blessed. I pretty much hit the jackpot. My payout was $11,200...

I purchased the car for $10,001...

I got my loan payed off AND received about 2k.

Now if that doesn’t scream second chance I don’t know what does.

To wrap up this long long meaningless story I just want to say a few things.

If you read up to this point I applaud you. It wasn’t a hell of a ride to read this story. It wasn’t the script to the next big summer blockbuster. It was more like, a carnival ride for children ages 3-6.

But there are some important lessons and morals to be taken from this. 1. Fuck the Chevy Spark 2. Comfort in a vehicle is very important 3 Do your research and please get a car that you will love even 2 years down the line. Get something you like. If you cant afford it wait until you can if you can be patient 4 GAP INSURANCE 5 Don’t make hasty decisions like me

After lots of research I am getting ready to finance a 2020 Toyota Corolla SE next week, and I’m very excited!

We live and learn. We make mistakes and we learn from them. I know when it comes to stubborn minds like myself we won’t listen/pay attention to advise that much until we have to pay the consequences. I try to listen more and look things into a different perspective as I get older because the older you get past 18 the more bad decisions screw you over. The consequences weren’t as bad as a teenager but now wrong avoidable decisions can really change your life for the worse. Adulting isn’t easy but thats just the game we call life. Goodnight ya’ll I have to be up in about 4 hours to drive my rental 100 miles to go sell some windows.

How German drivers education works and how it might differs from US drivers education.

I was talking to an US citizen in DMs and got asked how we Germans cope with having no speed limit on some parts and how its possible that there arent constant accidents.

I therefore decided to compile a bit of information on my personal experience in drivers school in Germany.

While in the US having a drivers license is seen more like a necessity due to a number of factors, its definitely seen as more of a privilege here in Germany, which is seen in the cost and difficulty of passing the tests. I have heard that Germany probably has one of the most difficult driving tests in the world.

First of all, you can take your drivers test as early as 17, however you can only drive without parental supervision once you turn 18. I personally only did my drivers ed when I turned 23, mostly because I wasnt able to afford it earlier.

There are also many different types of drivers licenses which each require their own drivers ed, but if you plan to aquire multiple you are usually able to skip some parts. A licenses are for motorcycles, B licenses are for cars, BE licenses are for cars and pulling a trailer, C is for Trucks/Semis and D for Buses.

Lessons consist of both theory, which are just like a school class (but a bit less structured), and actual practical drivers ed. You usually start with the theoretical part then once you know the basics you move on to actual driving.

In addition to the lessons, you also have to attend a first aid course and get your sight checked.

Theory for me consisted of 12 mandatory modules and 2 voluntary modules, but I had to be attending 14 modules in total in order to be eligible for taking the theory test. Meaning I could either simply visit all modules or skip the voluntary ones and revisit a mandatory module which I might considered worth taking again. Lessons were bi-weekly, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. You could take your time and only come once a week, or even every other week or however slow you wanted to take it, it was just important to in the end have visited 14 modules.

Whats the difference between voluntary and mandatory? The two voluntary modules were mostly about working on your car, how to change fluids, change tires, other super basic maintenance and also just looking at the technical side of how cars work in general. Since not everyone is made out to be a car enthusiast, those are voluntary.

Mandatory modules were all about dangers and of course the rules of driving. Whats right of way? What do traffic signs mean? How do you act upon reaching a site of an accident? What are the penalties for DUI? How does our driving offense register work? etc. etc.

Those were all usually powerpoint slides with the occasional video thrown in. Those videos in particular could be quite weird. Often they were used to bring awareness to the consequences of reckless driving. My instructors favourite video was video footage of a ghost driver colliding with another car at 200 kph. It was brutal and it was meant to shock us into awareness.

The theoretical test was conducted at an office of the TÜV (Technischer Überwachungsverein aka Association for Technical Inspection) and consisted of 40 multiple choice questions regarding anything and everything that you learn in the theory lessons. You are allowed up to 10 mistakes, otherwise you fail. Different kind of mistakes are weighed differently. They draw from a pool of 900 questions which were readily available to check up online or in an app. Technically you could just literally memorize them all, but good luck with that.

An example for a theory test question might be:

You are approaching an intersection with a Stop sign. How do you act?

A. I just drive because people will stop and brake if they see me pulling out anyway.

B. I slowly creep up to the intersection and drive if I see no oncoming traffic.

C. I pull to a full stop, observe my environment, then drive when the way is clear.

If you answered A, you would get a full penalty of 3 points because its a major mistake. Youd get a penalty of 1 for answering B and only pass when answering C. There is also a very few quintessential questions that might end up in outright failure of the test if you answer incorrectly. Spoiler alert, I failed my first theoretical test too by having 12 mistakes. I passed the second time by scraping by with 10 mistakes.

Onto the actual practical drivers ed. Practical ed consists of 30 regular training sessions each taking 45 minutes. However most instructors consider 45 minutes to be too short, so they usually pull double sessions for 90 mins, effectively cutting it down to only 15 regular training sessions. Regular training sessions usually consist of city driving, learning to park, acting correctly in traffic and learning the practical application of traffic signs. Your instructor usually picks you up either from home or from the driving school office and you will be driving a car owned by the school. It will be manual unless you ASK for automatic. For me it was a VW Tiguan 2.0L TDI.

In addition to 30 regular sessions there is also 12 special sessions. Those consist of:

3 Night driving sessions

3 Autobahn (Highway) sessions

6 "Overland" (country road) sessions

Each of those areas are considered special compared to city driving so they require their own separate lessons, like how to drive at night with limited visibility and the rush of the highway.

Once your driving instructor considers you ready for your practical drivers test, he will sign you up. Do note that if you are having difficulties with driving, you might be assigned more than 30 sessions.

The practical drivers test is also conducted by the TÜV, with your instructor in attendance. Its a 45 minute drive that is supposed to consist of many standard situations that can happen in everday driving. Meaning you will have to properly pass a parking test, a piece of highway/country road driving, doing an emergency braking maneuver at 30 kph to come to a full stop and of course read traffic correctly, this time without your instructors help. Mileage may vary depending on the examiner you get, since its up to their discretion whether some maneuvers you pull are a mistake or not. Spoiler alert, I failed my first practical driving test by Rotverstoß, aka driving over a red light. Shame on me. Second test my examiner missed me swerving into the oncoming lane by taking a too wide angle during a turn, which couldve been another failure.

Once you pass, you can directly visit the nearest TÜV office to get your drivers license printed. Congrats, you can now fuck up german roads!

Now onto the costs. Up front, I paid around 2500€ for my entire education, but that was including failing both my theory and practical once. Signing up again costs you, as well as additional regular driving lessons to basically focus on the parts that went bad during the test. Costs also slightly vary between german states and the driving school you attended.

Sight test, First Aid Course: 35€

Initial Up front payment: 250€

Learning materials (voluntary, can just dl an app): 50€

30 Regular driving lessons: 30 x 37,5€ = 1125€

12 Special driving lessons: 12 x 45€ = 540€

Admission to theoretical test: 50€

Admission to practical test: 110€

Printing of your license: 35€

Sum = 2195€

As you can see, its pretty expensive. Even without failing you easily spend over 2000 bucks. But thats what I meant when I said having a license in germany is more of a privilege than a right.

It took me 8 months to get my license. 2 months of attending theory, then 6 months of practical driving. I usually only got in about 5-6 sessions a month due to my instructors tight schedule, which extended my time considerably.

This post has gotten kinda long, I hope you took the time to read it anyway. I think this insight might be valuable for those with much easier driving license tests, like in the US.

Step 2: How to Get High Grades

Factors leading to higher grades include

I can't do better than direct you to http://www.picaxeforum.co.uk/www.picaxeforum.co.uk/ the picaxe forum. Explain your problem, with pictures of your board etc and a circuit diagram even if you have to hand draw it and they will help you.

The main issue with not programming is the power supply so double check that.

In the end even if your project doesn't work - BUT is complete you can still get 90% of the marks provided you understand and explain why it isn't working and that you have run out of time. You are making a prototyep on a limited time scale the exam board and your teachers have to be reasonable if you have made a decent effort and mark what you have done.

Ah now I completely screwed up my coursework for tech, teacher wasn't there and that was during a bad phase of being stoned in school constantly and being hungover all the time, however I got 98 & 99% in all my exams for technology so i ended up with a C grade.

Mmmm you get out what you put in! Many students are unaware that time passes very quickly and they need to keep on top of their work, Letting it slide is a recipe for failing or at least not doing as well as you could. Good grades come from organisation not necessarily from being smart! If you intend to go to university get a grip on yourself and get organised or you won't cope! believe me. AND the temptations will be even bigger to slope off and do whatever seems preferable to working.

OK I am a teacher by profession and a senior students tutor - i see many every year go down the same route having decided to dedicate another 6 years to their education and the toss it away - i long ago stopped saying the pleasantries every one mutters in these circumstance and started tell it how it is. However I know little about you and you sound like you have sorted yourself out now - hopefully others will read this an react early enough to make the difference. I forgot to say the folder should be between 20 and 30 A3 pages long single sided each page full and the design should take about 17 hours of work and the making about 28 hours making a total of about 40 hours for the project.

This all is dependent on what your sons school says. But that is the exam boards opinion on the subject. OCR will do it in A$ or electronic format i.e. on a CD AQA will take the project on a CD in power point but few schools do it.

The folder is easy -

A web diagram to show how the projects he might do have been searched fro - Cover a range - home work toys leisure with typical projects in each category. For the Robot select toys and expand to investigate what might be involved; Micro - picaxe - Arduaino - Basic Stamp. Motors driver, Motors , gear boxes, Wheels, LEDs, Body work, Plastics, Modelling, Infra red control, radio control, wire control, Intelligent robots. Object avoidance, Light seeking, line following. Batteries, End user and their needs/expectations, Safety,

From this he can create a brief. This is a description of the problem he is trying to solve. (NOTE not the solution) From the Brief and the analysis he will know what to research, his research should be very focused on what he needs (hence the analysis), work from several sources, books, internet, magazines. from the research he can formulate a specification. This is his solution to the brief. It should describe the functionality of the product. i.e. what it must do, perhaps what it might do as well as any safety issues.

From the specification he can produce some ideas (perhaps 10 or so) of how he can go about doing the things it says the product will do.

From the best of his ideas he can select those things that will go into the final product - the development. this includes orthographic drawings of every part he has to make. A plan for manufacture and a costings chart. and some 3D modelling.

test the product against the specification.

Evaluate the project over all highlighting good points and bad points and any issues you had and how you solved them. Try to show how you think the product could be improved with a few sketches to cover those issues.

Many thanks for the guide. My elder son starts GCSE product design next year and this will be absolutely invaluable. We have started thinking about a project and come up with what we think is a good one, but outside his capabilities at the moment. He's a bright lad with a keen interest in electronics (PicAxe) and mechanics and I'm sure I can bring him up to speed pretty quickly. He'll even need to use the 3D fabricator that his school is so proud of. (When I was a lad we had a choice of metalwork or woodwork ;¬) I am slightly worried that because of the training and guidance I'll be giving him that it may be seen as me spoon-feeding him (which I will take pains not to do). Hopefully his performance in lesson time and his documentation will make it clear that this is not the case, but do you have any suggestions as to how I can allay this potential suspicion?

Hi, If he is into picaxe and programming why not make a small toy robot, perhaps as a kit so he has a range of materials and a package/instructions to make. i will repost in my blog my students hand book for GCSE product design and let you know the URL. Will take a day or so. Your help is essential BUT make sure it is more aligned with encouragement to understand what he is doing rather than doing it (either for him or together) If his school work to the rules he should do everything/ folder and practical in school under the supervision of his teachers. They may / should allow preparation work at home that can be brought in on a memory stick to go into the folder. Remember Picaxe.com the forum an invaluable source of information and help on picaxe micro controllers . Get the syllabus and read it with him. The marking guide is in there turn it into heading fro the folder that way you hit everything. After that it is about how thoroughly you do it.

Cool, I've done my GCSE I got an A. I made a cd/dvd rack, I was gunna post an instuctable but never got round to it. I think I let myself down in the exam. I'm doing As level now. Its so much harder, but what you've said is definitively true, its all about the effort you put in.

Hmm I'm not sure of the exam board, possibly EdExcell. The project is 12v lighting (well its just lighting but were not allowed to play with mains) I'm making a light box. I might try an instructable because ill record how i did it anyway.

Although many schools limit students to 12 volts for H&S reasons 6th formers in most educational areas can build mains powered units they jus need to have them safety checked before plugging in.

There are a lot of options with 12 halogen lights and a wall plug type transformer Rapid do suitable units.

Mood light worked well for me in my example.

A Picaxe microprocessor can make a yellow/orange LED flicker like a candle if you play a tune and put the LED on the sound output in place of the speaker. Looks very realistic. You can buy these units in Wilco for £3.

Ther are many options in lighting as a simple Google search of lighting images will show. Many are basic domestic but a few "designer lamps" may cost £100's
