Hey, guess what I did this week?
Thats right, draw 3/5 OC Iterators that began growing in my brain on a photoediting program with my computer's touchpad!
This is the first time I've ever really drawn something digitally other than my profile pic & rw brainrot, and it's definitely the first time I've designed iterators, so yeah! Enjoy the art and subsequent Lore dumps under the cut :)

Iterator 35, Gen. 2: Shaded Pewter Lights / SPL
Built at the base of a dry, desert-like mountain, SPL preferred to occupy their time with huge, complex mechanical experiments rather than genealogical or Acension-based research. They despise thinking about the Great Problem, as no one can experiment if they're all dead, though they don't dislike iterators who attempt to solve it (for that reason alone). Their city used to harbor and attract skilled mechanics and engineers for miles around, as a particularly prodigous university was located on their can. Though they rarely interacted with their citizens, they often miss the requests they sent them, especially those sent by the less experienced artificers of their city; however, they feel little love for the Ancients beyond appreciation for their skill in mechanics (the skill required to build the iterators).
In the past, SPL has repeatedly set up projects within their can that could only be described as titanic Rube Goldberg Machines. SPL often sought to improve the functionality of their can with these experiments (plus having fun), keen to observe and record as much data as possible from the cycles-long whirring of cogs and water wheels before setting everything up again to repeat. Their main goals included lowering their needed water intake, gaining a form of low-power mode for bad weather, and utilizing lightning as a secondary power source. Though many saw these modifications as taboo, SPL couldn't care less, blocking almost all communication during their experimentation era: however, they often shared their knowledge with APS to assit in the creation of the wildlife santuary on his can, and many of the conduits used to water plants there are of their design.
Due to an integral flaw in the rerouted void fluid piping of their Easternmost Leg, SPL's can collapsed in the middle of a heated arguement with their local group, with their Westernmost Leg piercing through their can. With rust and sand permeating their structure, their many mechanisms fell silent for the first time since the Ascension. Although SPL is still connected to their can, overseers, and local communications arrays, they can no longer induldge themselves in experiments; they barely have enough power function as is. They now spend most of their time chatting with other iterators in their local group, sending overseers to APS's sanctuary, and attempting to prevent further discoloration and rust on their puppet. They're not usually bitter, but particularly vulgar arguements with EN can send them into a spiral.
SPL still feels they did the right thing in modifying their can. Though the other iterators refuse to admit it, the main reason they still function is due to the modification of their can.

Iterator 77, Gen. 3: Rain from Clear Skies / RCS
Although he often jokes around, RCS is the most calm and collected of his local group. He often finds himself mediating fights between his local group (read: SPL and EN) for this reason, as has the astonishing ability (within his local group at least) to sit back, consider something fully, and make mostly objective decisions. He also uses this ability to point out details many other iterators overlook, so is often called for help with malfunctioning software and to explain why some experiments went wrong. His citizens instilled him with a love for quiet and time to contemplate, and they had a moderately positive relationship, so often misses them. But when he isn't meditating or recording data from around his can, he's talking with EN. They have soft spots for each other.
His name comes from the already heavy rainfall in the region where his can was built, which his construction didn't help; very little non-semi-aquatic wildlife remains around his can. However, he often moderates the remaining flora and flauna to insure it's continued survival, and has sent more than a few wounded animals to APS so she can assit in their recovery. When he's not researching, RCS also acts as the jokester of his local group, and often codes pranks and malware intended to cause harmless irritation into sent messages. He's gotten quite good at it, to his local group's endless infuriation (and delight). He doesn't send these to SPL, though, as their systems likely wouldn't be able to handle the repairs.

Iterator 16, Gen. 1: Even Nightfall / EN
As one of the earliest iterators built, EN's city was particularly religious and pious, priding themselves on their virtue and detachment from the material world. This did not bode well for EN, who had an almost abusive relationship with their citizens; they treated EN as something to deal with their problems and nothing more. After they Ascended, EN felt both a weight off their shoulders and, for a reason he can't pin down, a profound sense of betrayal that their creators abandoned them. Though a few in their local group see them as nothing more than cruel and callous, EN is very emotinally reserved (but also very, very smug) and astoundingly protective and kind towards those they care for. This includes RCS, their genticially modified slugcat Arps, and to some extent APS.
APS acted as a sort of mentor to EN when they were built, helping them manage their city's requests and sneak in a few personal projects on the side. While their city didn't approve of the projects they found, and reprimanded EN, the number EN kept secret far outnumbered those discovered by the Ancients. With their creators gone, EN found a hobby genetically modifying the pre-existing wildlife around their structure, and has improved their already impressive skills; this lead many genticially modified organisms to spread out and inhabit EN's can, and is also where Arps came from.
Named after APS, Arps acts as a mix between a therapy animal and pet for both EN and RCS. Arps frequently travels between EN and RCS's cans, and EN gave them the ability to glide to ease this passage; however, they (and RCS) also always send an overseer along with Arps to ensure their safety. Even when Arps is simply gliding between trees in the Rainworld Equivalent of a Sparse Pine Forest surrounding EN's can, he always sends an overseer to make sure they're OK. They're almost overbearing!
EN and RCS are perhaps the closest out of any of the iterators within their local group, and frequently chat or play 7-dimensional chess for entire cycles before they have to check up on an experiment so it doesn't explode. Though they couldn't talk much and weren't nearly as close pre-Mass Acension, RCS was one of the few iterators who spent the time to work around EN's colony's communication restrictions and talk to them. He was a great comfort, and one of the only reasons EN didn't crack under their city's pressure.

CONCEPTS AND RAMBLINGS | "animal" cult pmv extras
thank you everyone for liking my pmv (and on yt and twitter) !! i got more attention than i thought it would and that means the world to me! <33
here’s some of my concept art + rambles for it!

the first thing i made up, the character designs!
i didn’t think to refine them because they were good enough to use LMAO... so i scribbled colours down, threw a filter and called it a night
i wanted a sharp change from the verses and chorus (since the song goes from calm to... louder) so i made it greyscale (with a red filter) that changed to brighter colours!
also changed the text font/colour for ignacio hmm. the font was hard to read, in my opinion.
ignacio's design
ignacio loses his bandage colours because that was too many colours for my liking… i completely forgot his hair highlights tho
ah and he doesn’t get a mouth until the fire scene too…
it was only meant to be done for a few frames but i thought it be cooler if it was consistent.
the missing mouth represents his repressed feelings/silence, or something like that.
skidad's design
i got a few questions on whether skidad was a goat. despite looks, skidad’s design is actually based on the herbiadean/jacob sheep! four horns!
i have drawn skidad as a jacob sheep before as well!

the resemblance to goats is something i considered as well (links with cult/sacrifice) so i think of it as a fun bonus
i gave him wolf teeth because the whole “wolf in sheep’s clothing” but also because i like it when prey animals are given predator features
i left the body as "human" because i only wanted the face to be censored… i considered clawed/darkened hands too but nah
skidad was originally going to be lined like ignacio, but i liked the lineless look for him so voila! makes it feel like he’s “not bound by anything”... actually, this is the same reasoning for the match to be “out” of the border, even though it’s ignacio’s hand
storyboards
i rarely storyboard (most are locked in my mind) but i figured it'd be fun to try!
halfway, i got bored of drawing digitally so i moved onto my notebook. i think it was a good decision; since i drew with my ink pen, it forced me to move on with my mistakes instead of clicking "clear canvas" lol
i had a pretty solid idea of what i wanted after weeks of listening to the song over and over again. the only thing that really changed was the mirror, which was replaced with a shadowy ignacio
the coloured thumbnails i actually did first, just to figure out out what i’m doing for the chorus part… limited palette my beloved
i didn't know where to put the text so i was scribbling everywhere lol

Fun Facts
She’d pierce more of her if she could, but.. ya can’t really pierce a bird? If i drew her in a human au she’d have WAY MORE piercings!
SHE CAN FLY! She just doesnt like to lol
Her hair isn’t naturally that neon rainbow, its black underneath! She regularly bleaches and dyes, usually in the company of others bc its always funner, and you need someone to check the back!
Ma is a mix of birds, but she’s mostly eagle!! Thats where she gets her big ol talons!
Her talons are really sharp! She always tells ppl to mind them when they’re close. (Aa i can imagine her saying that actually “I’m so happy you decided to-, watch the talons, sugar- come over today”)
She has a leather bag with spikes that says “PUNK MOM” in bright green, its her ma bag >:D she carry’s snacks, first aid utensils, and medication! Mostly anxiety medicine or pain meds.
She is the tallest neighbor, beating Barnaby by about half a foot
She went to Mother Mary’s School for Problematic Boys, after she came out. She was sent at 17
She met Barnaby there ^ she was astonished by how brainwashed Barnaby was, since he was sent there so young he was so accustomed to all the teachings. Poppy decided she wouldn’t just escape, she’d take Barnaby with her!
In the school, everyone went by their last names. (Adults called the kids “Son ____” and kids called the adults “Mother ____” and “Father ____”, kids call each other “Brother ____”. They thought they were a big family, basically. Its a very stereotypical cult.) which explains why Barnaby doesn’t know her deadname! He called her “Brother Partridge”, when they escaped they traded their real names, and ofc ma said to call her Poppy
Poppy calls her parents every year or so, (“just makin’ sure they’re still bigoted. Aha, just kiddin’, I don’t have to check.”)
I like to think Ma has a southern accent. I don’t actually know where she would’ve developed it, but it fits with the mom vibe ok?
She’s horrible at baking, but AWESOME AT COOKING. Like go to her house every thanksgiving. Not even, go for dinner she’ll happily cook you some heaven sent meal im serious.
Poppy was originally going to be completely greyscale, no neon whatsoever. I changed it bc it looked way too gloomy and.. bad.
Poppy would happily say yes to a “Hey Mister*” (*teens standing outside a store and asking adults to buy them alcohol/cigarettes. This literally never works, but Ma would get u some as long as u promised to be safe, and might even make u party at her house)
Not-So Fun Facts
Ok some context for this one: Barnaby was going to be killed by the cult. Before a sacrifice or killing someone that stepped out of line (thats what Barnaby did) they down a cup of wine to cleanse themselves before taking a life. Poppy knew they’d kill Barnaby and poisoned the wine. She pretended to drink it as everyone else did, and bit her tongue as she waited for it to work. If it took even just a few more seconds to kick in, Barnaby would’ve been killed
The poison wasn’t lethal, in Poppy’s words, “they’ll shit weird for a week and vomit more then a tween with bulimia, but they’ll live.”
If it wasn’t obvious her parents are transphobic

Progress is very slow-going, but it's going! I've put one of my ongoing creative projects on the backburner for now, so hopefully I'll be able to work on this more frequently.
Fun fact. I was originally going to use a reference from the movie for Donnie's lab in frames 41-45, but when I couldn't find one quick enough, I decided to just use the computer setup you drew for the recent Open Your Shell chapter as a reference instead. On a similar note, I picture the standing mirror in frames 46-50 to be the same one in Donnie's lab mentioned in Open Your Shell.
If you have any questions, I'd love to answer them! It's taking a lot of self-restraint to not start info-dumping about everything and making this ask ridiculously long.

how i did the shadows in MAGIC SHOW

I thought it might be fun to write a little breakdown of how I made the shadows in my animation!
so a little bit of context about magic show: i made this animation very quickly! it was a birthday gift for @xxacidnekoxx, and i didn't have much time to make it. in total i worked on it for about 2 weeks. (unfortunately i didnt finish it in time for his birthday, but i did at least get it watchable from start to finish in time)
there wasn't an animatic stage, and i drew all of the final frames as i went. i didn't even know it was going to have shadows at all until I finished coloring it and realized the whole thing looked a lot more flat than i had anticipated.

luckily, getting the animation from this to its shaded state only took a few hours.
so let's break it all down!
Part One: Some Basics
it's worth noting that the animation software I used for this is toon boom harmony. a lot of what i'll be talking about is harmony specific, although you could certainly apply similar techniques in other programs.
Masking
the idea is simple. you have three images. the first two images are the same image, but with different palettes. the third image, known as the mask, is grayscale, and defines which areas use which palette.
when combined, the black areas use the first palette, and the white areas use the second palette. grey areas mix between the two.

in harmony this is easily accomplished with just a few nodes.

the unlit background is layered on the bottom. the lit version is masked by the cutter, and layered on top of the unlit background.
this kind of setup will likely work for most cases. however...
by default, cutter nodes will only use the alpha channel of whatever is plugged into the matte to determine which areas to mask, ignoring the actual brightness values of our mask.
this causes some issues for us! our lighting has layers. we want our spotlight to make the background lighter, and we want our characters to cast shadows on top of the spotlight.
luckily, we can force harmony to use the matte input's brightness values to determine the mask instead by inserting a greyscale node before the cutter and ticking the "matte output" box.

(btw, if you need a layer or matte to become a solid color, you can plug it into a Matte Blur node and pick which color you want there. very handy in combination with the greyscale node's matte output!)
Color Overrides
the easiest way to make alternate palettes in toon boom is to right click on the palette in your palettes list, and click "Clone..."
this makes a copy of your palette where all of the colors are linked to their respective counterparts in the original palette.
with cloned palettes, harmony uses whatever palette is highest in the list (or whatever palette is currently selected) to determine which version of the palette it uses in the scene. you can override any layer's palette priorities by plugging it into a Colour Override node and adding the new palette you want as a whole palette override.
Apply Peg Transformations
the Apply Peg Transformation node is simple. normally peg transformations occur before the drawing node. this means every instance of the drawing will share the same transformations. but this node lets you apply them after the drawing node.
this allows you to insert multiple instances of your drawing, each with unique transformations!

perfect for our shadows!
that's the basic gist of it! combining these elements gets you most of the way there.
Part Two: Getting The Rest Of The Way There
unfortunately, our table looks like it is floating at the moment.

this technique is very efficient, but the results are far from perfect.
shadows are what happen when an object blocks light from hitting another object. generally these objects are "three dimensional" and have "volume", which, in combination with the position and angle of the light source, changes the shape of the shadows they project.
the truth is that reusing flattened 2d artwork of characters to create shadows can only get you so far. the effect looks better when the light source is coming from a similar position and angle to the camera, but looks worse when the difference is greater.
in our case, the light source is close enough to look convincing on the curtains, but the shadow doesn't line up with the table's feet on the floor, absolutely shattering the illusion.
so how do we fix this?
Color Overrides Again
the Colour Override node also lets you non-destructively remove specified colors from a layer.

here i've "deleted" the table's shadow by using a Colour Override node to replace all of the table's colors with 0 alpha colors.
this is a very efficient method of removing objects from a lot of frames at once!
cutter nodes can be used to further mask away any remaining parts of a shadow that you don't want. example:

Manually Adding The Shadow Back In
no node fuckery here. i simply made a new layer and drew the table's shadow by hand for each frame and included it in my shadow composite.

this little bit of manual shadow animation really ties everything together and sells the effect in my opinion.
Part Three: Finishing Touches
these aren't necessary, but they add a little bit of polish
Mesh Warping To Add Form

the shadows subtly wrap around the curtains as if they were a little bit round. just gotta run the shadows through an Apply Peg Transformation node connected to a Mesh Warp node. be warned that the bezier handles on this thing are a lot more finicky than the other bezier handles in harmony and sometimes they bite you.
Blurring Spotlight Edges

in the real world, shadows get blurrier the further away they are from the object that's casting them. it probably would've been a lil more realistic if i slightly blurred the shadows that the characters cast on the curtains as well, but i thought they looked better sharp here. realism doesn't actually matter just do whatever looks Good Enough.
Floor Reflection

i used an Apply Peg Transformation node along with a simple peg to layer a flipped instance of the curtain's Lit shading on top of the floor. blur it (more vertically than horizontally,) set the blending mode to add, and lower the opacity. done!

Australian Pokemon: 3 creepy lines
Another of my posts of Fakemon based in a hypothetical region called Goorda based on a mix of Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand (though mostly Australia). This time I designed three evolution lines based on creepy or ghostly concepts. For pervious posts see regional variants, birds, early-game standards, misc 2, misc 1, starter variants, and starters.
First up is Parapteer, the Parasite Pokemon, dark/psychic type. This Pokemon is a parasite that is weak and helpless on its own. It targets Staryu and hollows out their bodies, using them as a new home while disguising itself as a Staryu. It benefits from its host's latent psychic powers, which are added to Parapteer's own. It uses the psychic powers and disguise to sneak into a group of Staryu and plant its larvae on them, beginning the next generation of parasites. Pictured is Parapteer both in its host's body (left) and exposed (right).

Parapteer is based on Dendrogaster, a genus of parasites found worlwide that grow inside of starfish as weird, branching tentacle creatures. Parapteer exaggerates Dendrogaster to make it more like a body snatcher, killing Staryu and stealing its body as a grotesque puppet master. Honestly, this might be too grotesque for a Pokemon fan work. It would definitely have some ability like Minior where its disguise can be broken, revealing the parasite within. It could be found in the same areas as Staryu, meaning a trainer trying to fish up a Staryu has a chance of getting Parapteer instead. Its name comes from "parasite" and "puppeteer". I got the idea for this fakemon from this post.
Next is Thylament, the Mournful Pokemon, ghost/normal type. Thylament were once living beings, but they were driven to extinction by humans and have lingered on as ghosts. They mourn their deaths and avoid humans, who they fear for causing their extinction. It takes a very skilled trainer to earn the friendship of a Thylament.

Thylament is based on thylacines, also known as Tasmanian tigers. These wolf-like marsupials were once a dominant predator of Australia before being outcompeted by dingos and having their population reduced to Tasmania. The rest of the population were killed by European colonizers, with the species becoming extinct in 1936. Real thylacines were orangish, but Thylament is greyscale due to its status as a ghost. Its name comes from "thylacine" and "lament".
Thylament evolves to Skulvenge, the Vengeful Pokemon, ghost/dark type. Unlike its morose and mournful pre-evolution, Skulvenge is driven by anger over humanity causing its extinction. They take their anger out on humans, especially those exploring alone. Very few trainers ever successfully tame a Skulvenge and it is said that Skulvenge will only ever accept a trainer who also burns with anger out of a shared desire for vengeance.

Skulvenge is a mature thylacine who has decided that it's not going to take extinction lying down. The skull on its head and the inversion of its colors mark Skulvenge as being more angry and aggressive than Thylament.
The last Pokemon for today is Davalossam, the Shipwreck Pokemon, ghost/water type. When a ship sinks with crew aboard, the ghost of the crew may fuse with the shipwreck, animating it as a Davalossam. The vengeful sprits of the drowned crew seek to drag others to their fate, driving Davalossam to attack and sink ships. Nobody knows how many Davalossam lurk in the deep seas, but all sailors fear one day encountering one determined to drag them down to the depths.

Pokemon makes some very disturbing ghost types, so I don't thing a shipwreck in the shape of a shark driven by the vengeful spirits of its downed crew would be too far for an official game. I drew from sailor folklore of ghost ships and similar stories for Davalossam's origin, as well as stories of sea monsters that attacks and sink ships. While not being a grass-type, it probably would know at least Wood Hammer, being made of wood and all. Its name comes from "Davy Jones' Locker" (a euphemism for the bottom of the sea in reference to shipwrecks), "jetsam" (discarded refuse from ships), and "thalassic" (oceanic).
I wanted to include a 4th line based on the legendary creature known as the yara-ma-ya-who, but I am struggling to come up for ideas for how to adapt that to a Pokemon. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for checking out this post, I hope you liked it.

(I don't talk about a lot of these guys much, but Wally is the janitor, Jack is the lyricist, Allison replaced Susie as Alice's voice actor, Thomas helped build the ink machine, and Lacey was Bertrum's assistant. In this au Allison and Tom voice Alice and Boris respectively for the news, which is animated after Joey takes over.)
Ok so the main plot is Joey still runs an animation studio, and it's still kind of falling through and losing money and Joey is mad about this. Also, Henry left the studio like four years prior which made him real mad. So he decided to start experimenting with stuff to bring his cartoons to life, and he actually succeeds after finding some remaining crystals that haven't dissolved and using them to bring Bendy, Alice and Boris to life (Bendy is a cat, Alice is a rabbit, and Boris is a wolf. For reasons.) but this wasn't enough for Joey so he got Tom to help him build the ink machine. He also stole the great Zapfish to power it but whatever that doesn't matter. Anyways Joey used the ink machine to slowly sap colour from the inky guys, turning their coloured parts black and pretty much mind controlling them. He has all the colours in a giant ball in his evil lair. Also, the Ink Demon is a manifestation of the lack of colour, it is the opposite of the colour ball. Yeah :3
So anyways. Henry hasn't left his house in four years nor has he watched the news in also four years. He has been really sad because he misses his friend and feels bad for leaving Joey Drew Studios. Anyways his wife tells him to go get milk and he says ok and pretty much as soon as he leaves Bendy jumps out at him and tells Henry he ran away from Joey because Joey was being evil and stealing colours and Henry needs to go stop him or everything will be bad. (Important to note: instead of black, Henry is still greyscale but his ink is white) So Henry is like ok and goes with Bendy to the studio where Joey seems him coming and promptly ejects him to Bendyland.
So the first area is the theme park! Here the enemies are mostly like. Squid tentacles. Kinda similar to octarians but not sentient they are just kinda there. Lacey is also there, and she's attacking Henry just to try and get him to leave because it's not safe here and Henry is just like yeah I wish I could leave. He tries to escape but his exit is blocked by Bertrum who is like. Actually just a giant crab right now he's also attached to the floor. So Henry fights him and Bertrum mostly just has cool spinny attacks. But yeah Henry wins and Lacey jumps down to tend to Bertrum's wounds and Henry leaves Bendyland.
The next stage is the City Square. You see this part introduces Buddy (who gives you weapons and tips) and also the greyscale Inklings, who are just like. Black instead of bright colours and wear goggles that make it look like their eyes are glowing. They also attack you. Henry fights his way to the news station and asks Allison and Tom what's going on and Allison is like oh yeah hi so Joey's kinda crazy. Anyways you really shouldn't be here if we don't attack you Joey will probably do something bad to us. So that boss fight takes place on set, and theres like. A ring of water that Henry has to jump over and Allison and Tom just send waves of enemies at Henry, starting with just regular ol' tentacles enemies and then tentacles that try and push you into the water then greyscale Inklings. So Henry wins and Allison is like cool good job, you are obviously the right guy for this job and you can go do this. So Henry keeps going.
Henry is just in a different part of Inktopolis now, heading towards the entertainment district which is where the studio is. This part is real similar to the last part, except the whole place is completely drowned in ink, and this time the boss is Norman Polk, who used to be either an inkling or octoling but is now a giant eel with glowing eyes that eats people. His fight mostly takes place on platforms that you can like. Jump to and shoot from since the whole this is surrounded by ink and Norman is like. Swimming in the ink. Norman starts by going under the ink and jumping out at Henry and trying to bite him, then spraying ink at him, then submerging the platforms and making Henry swim while he tries to bodyslam Henry. Henry gets out though,
The final area before the studio is the entertainment district. Here you are not only attacked by greyscale Inklings carrying guns, they also have musical instruments that spray ink at you. The music here also seems more personal. So Henry makes his way to the big ol' stage at the very end of the long, winding street, and has to fight the band that has made all the music he has been hearing up to this point (Sammy, Susie and Jack). They are all up high, sitting on fake clouds suspended from the ceiling. Sammy monologues a bit but Jack ends up jumping down first. His section is mostly him setting up turrets to attack Henry until Henry takes him out. Sammy then jumps down and plays a violin, doing this funky pied piper thing and summoning the greyscale band members to attack Henry until he takes Sammy out. Susie's part mostly takes place in the air as she'll drop down for about a minute to use a singing attack, then she'll jump up to the fake clouds and snipe at Henry. So yeah he defeats them and FINALLY he can get to the studio.
Henry goes into the studio and is faced with all the enemies he had faced before just more. There's also a mini boss, the Butcher Gang (technically there are three of them but they make one mini boss) but other then that it's the same. He makes his way to Joey's "lair", and confronts him. Joey monologues about how it's so much better now that he holds all this power and blah blah blah evil stuff and starts egging on the Ink Demon to attack Henry. The floor is actually mostly covered in rainbow ink. Also. You see the stages of this fight mirror the previous boss battles. The first stage has a lot of spinning and stabbing, the second stage is fighting through hordes of enemies, the third stage the Ink Demon tries to bodyslam Henry, and the fourth stage Joey snipes at you from above. Joey also has sprinklers that make certain areas untouchable. Anyways. Henry is getting overwhelmed and really regretting going in alone, but just when all hope seems lost...everyone he defeated and saved shows up! You see. Jack, Sammy and Susie are armed with The Old Song (this universe's version of the Calamari Inkantation) and help bolster Henry. The power of it also breaks Joey's gun somehow so he has to go down onto the floor (he was previously in a control booth) and use a roller to attack Henry. Joey also absorbs the giant or of colour he had so he can be more powerful. His ink is rainbow now. Anyways Henry ends up overpowering Joey and the Ink Demon ends up eating Joey, which causes it to explode because it technically destroyed the colour ball keeping it alive. So yeah! Colour and sentience is restored and everyone goes home!
But you see. There's also lore around this! You see in Joey Drew Studios you can see a lot of things branded Aperture. This is because Joey and Cave were buddies and had an alliance. Cave was actually spared from the greyscaleing because he was giving Joey power eggs so that's. Something. Anyways! So yeah. Aperture does the salmon runs and it is actually even more messed up because a) there are just salmonids. Living among everyone. And b) Cave does hire salmonids for testing. But yeah you see he was friends with Saxton, but Saxton didn't like him anymore because he was preying on the weak and Saxton has an actual moral code so like. He stopped beings friends with Cave and Cave was like ok then! There's nothing stopping me from stealing eggs then! So he does that. Caroline hates this but she's terrified to be put of a job.
Nothing really happens at Black Mesa luckily, they just do funky science and come up with cool new stuff. Colette and Gina also have a band together because Decay Girls goes hard as a band name. Speaking of bands, Aperture has an orchestra that's entirely it's test subjects, both RED and BLU are bands in their own rights, and Saxton, Bidwell, Reddy, Jerry and Miss Pauling all play salmonid type music and are directed by The Administrator.
Also the story of the Team Fortress comics does still happen, Grey still attacks Mann CO. with robots, ends up killing his brothers, then steals Mann CO. from Saxton by exploiting Saxton's moral code that won't let him fight a child. So yeah that whole thing happens. It happens kind of far away though so it's not catastrophic.
So anyways salmonid territory is the Australia equivalent, and golden eggs are the australium equivalent (australium is gold that can extend your life, make you stronger, do all sorts of stuff.) Sniper was raised by salmonids, so he had believed for years he is one and was really devestated when he found out he wasn't. He was even more devestated when he found out his biological parents were using golden eggs to try and power their rockets (Sniper had previously developed a grudge towards Spy as he believes Spy has participated in salmon runs. So yeah. He doesn't like filthy child thieves). Heavy comforts him and tells him that even if he is an octoling on the outside, he is a salmonid on the inside. Then the Classic Mercs show up and shoot Sniper so like.
But yeah that's what's shaking.

They are both shirtless here. Now there are changes from canon in the artist's AU versions. Kamal looks older with wrinkling skin and sagging jowls, a more bent and crooked nose. His build is thicker too. His short and wavy, messy hair is greying and shot through with white streaks. He has relatively bushy brows. His eyes look tired. His face shows some chin stubble and pockmarks, some scars from picking them. He has T-anchor top scars with some leftover dog-eared skin and not much body hair. Some stretch marks there on his stomach and arms.
Habit is a marionette type of doll. His face is gaunt with a prominent chin. He too has wrinkles and fur that's somehow sagging a lot. The pupils of his eyes are dark brown. He wears deep red lipstick. He has a thin stache along with facial hair on the chin and down to the neck. He is balding on one side and his fading, dull rose-pink hair here is held back in a ponytail tied off with a big bright purple scrunchie that has hanging bobbles. His body is visibly segmented and ball-jointed like a marionette would have. He has freckles on his shoulders, stitched scars running across his arms. One stitch around his neck below the Adam's apple. He is kind of a thinner build with a potbelly. He is non-op so has small saggy breasts. Covered by a washed-out purple sports bra thats held by tape on one side and falling apart. He has relatively more body hair. From the part of the hand shown we can see his long red-painted claws.
The drawing shows only half their bodies till the stomach. Habit leans a bit away from Kamal, but keeping one arm to come around him while the other lazily relaxes on Habits other side. He shamelessly eyes Kamal's bare chest up and down, one eyebrows raised while the other is lowered. Clearly enjoying it with a smile. A blush blooms across his face, indicated by sketches of red flowers across it. Kamal's eyes betray him as they stray to Habit's decrepit bra near his face. He keeps his hands folded down. He looks deeply conflicted, trying to suppress a grin and his eyes are going all wide.
The background is a just the paper I drew it on and part of the bed behind it that I took the photo on but edited to greyscale and made lighter. It provides a contrast to the bold lines and colors in the actual drawing. The lining and coloring is fast, uneven, thick and loose. Messy but the figures can still clearly be seen.
The text running throughout the whole background is in all the colors of the rainbow with a varying richness of shade. It represents their thoughts. It runs without full stops and breaks as one huge block. It's caring thoughts on each other, as they fail to pay attention to the movie. End ID1]

Exam stress was TAKING ME OUT and knocking me unconscious quite frequently so I drew some Roseverse to relax lmao. Took a long time for this but here it is.
Also I'd like to clarify I don't really mean any sexual intent with this drawing. So please don't say something really explicit about it. I'll still tag it suggestive cus I know it can come off that way but their intimacy is meant to be something else, not that. Habit is asexual in my HC anyway.

This was my original LB/Marinette redesign, I think I like it better than my digital copy..
(Reasoning for design changes under the cut)
Ladybug:
Why did I do this? - When I look at LB's canon design, I feel like it's... kinda boring? Like c'mon, that's basically a swimsuit with polka dots on it! - It is such a crime that LB gets 0 change in her hair, when canonically it could be so. much. more. -In my opinion, a miraculous holder's transformed state should showcase parts of their actual personality. With all the intricate plans LB comes up with, it's hard to believe this is what she ended up with, especially since she's supposed to be a future fashion designer!
What did I want from the redesign? - Different hair, preferably a symmetrical hairstyle mingling with cyan hair dye (Deriving from cosmobug, amongst other forms of LB) - The suit should be a bit more intricate than just polka dots. (More black like in her power-up?) - The suit should be easy to fight in (obviously) and have pockets (because which girl doesn't need them?)
How did I achieve my goals? - Well, the hair had been on my mind a lot before I started, so my choice was set the moment I drew them. I feel like my choice was good for fighting as well since the hair won't be tied loosely, or in a way that it could get in her face. - As I was doing the previous, I realized I couldn't incorporate Mari's iconic hair ribbons. Whatever. Then I wondered if maybe the ribbons actually symbolized a ladybug's antennae. Welp. Now she has those. - A few parts are self-indulgent when it came to designing (especially the repeated Vs). The contour, the black knee-highs, the black fingertips (maybe to help climb?) and the tiny ladybug wings are both personal choices and references to other suits. - The canon design seemed to lack any actual framing to the suit that would make her appear to be safer from any chance of injury, though it makes sense since all parts of the suit are magic and will protect her. Still, owing to Adrien's design as Mister Bug, I added shoulder pads. - Lastly, I wanted to add that sort of flair Scarabella has in her suit. However, it didn't seem very... Marinette? So I switched it out for protruding "pockets" that are attached to her belt.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng:
Why did I do this? - Well, I just did Ladybug, it's only logical... - Marinette is cute, but she can always be cuter! What did I want out of the redesign? - Showing off Marinette's sense of style. She is gonna be a famous fashion designer someday and you better believe it. So what if it isn't trendy in Paris yet? - Making her look reasonably unlike Ladybug without losing her essence.
How did I achieve my goals? - I loosened the pigtails, something I just love seeing in fanart. - More personal stylistic choices (especially the pink/greyscale aesthetic I'm going for). I love drawing poofy sleeves, so that went in. Hm, what about embroidery on her jacket? Perhaps a skort? Or knee-high socks? Cute shoes? Oh alright, maybe I'll add a choker for her bare neck... Acro.... another aisha girl i drew a couple times, but never really got a vibe for, motivations story personality etc... LOL.. adopted her as an alien from a random UFQA board. thanks to her I somehow have, 4 pairs of alien aisha clothes across two accounts... The name is clunky to me but apparently a real word that means "the statue or ornament that stands on the pedestal." etc... so same as Janra, she simply sits and waits for me or someone else to have some sort of idea for her....! Someel.... new!!! was charmed by the name, so cute... might end up becoming a bori, or something sort of inbetween a bori and a blumaroo, maybe with mutant insps... sort of Big, sleepy... walk on all 4s. hope to expand more soon as i sketch and draw, unsure what account you will end up on...!

Character Illustration: Class 1 Homework
I decided that since I had the day off on Wednesday I would make another illustration. I chose to re illustrate a drawing I had previous done on procreate.

I plan to simplify it slightly as I have never drawn on PhotoShop before this week so I can't expect the same level of detail.
I started by creating the outline of the lady. I decided I wanted to use the brush tool again rather than the pen tool. I really want to get better at using the wacom tablet and I think this will be good practice. It was quite difficult to get a lot of the lines as some of them were very curvy. It was hard to stay on track while also keeping my hand steady and the line smooth. This was the outline I ended up with. I didn't mean to but when I was tracing the shape of her hair, face and left arm, I didn't press as hard so the lines are a bit thinner. It is annoying but it shouldn't matter massively one I add colour.

I then added a greyscale so I could see where I wanted the light to hit and what the illustration would look like in terms of shadows. I added the grey by using the magic wand tool (W). I clicked the area I wanted to change the colour of and this selected the section. I then chose the grey tone that I wanted in the colour palette before clicking option + delete to fill the selected area.

When I originally selected the sections, the selection only goes to the inside edge of the black outline so a small white edge is kept around the grey. To erase this I needed to expand the selection before colouring it. So after using the magic wand tool, I clicked Select, Modify, and then expand. I could choose how many pixels I wanted to explain the selected area by. I went with a value around 5 pixels.
I then moved on to adding base colours instead of the grey. I used the eyedropper tool to sample colours from the original drawing. I followed the same steps as adding the grey tones but instead chose a colour.

I then moved on to adding shading to the figure. This was definitely the most difficult part of the illustration. It took a lot of time to get use to the brush tool in terms of shading. I used the first brush tool and played around with the size and opacity of the brush. I used a lot of layers so I could shade each section differently and not have to worry about messing up the other sections. I did find that the longer I coloured in the figure it became easier to control and I developed a system of doing a rough base before making my brush smaller and fixing some details. Once I was done, I combined all of the layers.

I then moved on to adding the highlights on the top, skirt and heels. For this I tried out a few different brushes. I found there was one that was really good for making the stars on the top. I used the second solid brush for the rest and just drew on the features roughly.

For my second project, I created an image board displaying Horacio Pagani (Founder of Pagani Automobile), and one of the cars he designed (A 2020 Pagani Huayra Roadster). I started my project by adjusting the contrast on the original image of Horacio Pagani (because the image was originally in black and white, I did not need to use the greyscale tool). I then printed the result to use as my first (top right) image on my picture board. Next, I used the brush tool to draw outlines of the contrasted image, and the paint bucket tool to fill them in. I then printed out the modified image. To create the second image, I stacked a normal sheet of printer paper onto the image I printed out. I used my phone flashlight and watch box as a DIY light box to trace the outlines in pen. I then filled the images in to finish my second (top middle) image on my picture board. To start the third image, I cut the blacks out of the modified image I used with the light box to create the second image. To make sure I glued them into the proper place, I used the second image on the light box to outline where the black pieces of paper went. I then glued down the black pieces of the image I cut out to complete my third part of the picture board (top right). I performed the same process I used to create the third image to create the fourth part of the picture board (bottom left). The only difference is that I used neon green paper as a background in contrast to white paper. I repeated the process used on the second part of my picture board to create the fifth part of my picture board (bottom middle). The difference was that I used pencil on black paper in contrast to pen on white paper. This was a bit more challenging because the silhouette of the image was not as clear under the black paper as it was under the white. To create the sixth part of my picture board, I used the same process as I did when modifying the image of Horacio Pagani, but used it on one of his cars. Because I was able to cut out most of the car in one piece, I did not need to use a light board when I glued it down. I then used a scrapbook paper cutter to trim the images down to 4x4. When I glued them down, I had trouble aligning them. I blame this on two things.
1). The poster board I used had to be cut in half. When I cut it, the edge frayed which may have diminished the accuracy of the lines I drew with a square to give me an idea of where the images needed to be glued.
2). I have terrible depth perception.

‘Mask’
I just finished my entry for the 2021 Foundations Revealed costume competition and got it entered a few hours before the deadline. Whew. It’s been... a long week.
I came across a poem, ‘Mask’ by Beth Bachmann and had the sudden idea... “Hey, that costume competition was for a literature character this year, wasn’t it? I wonder when that ends...” 11 days. It ended in 11 days. And with the business still shut down and me in isolation, I decided... why not? What else am I REALLY going to DO with the next 11 days anyhow? Could a mask count as a character? Here’s to hoping it does!
I made a mask from the pattern by @mctreeleth and also a jacket pieced from the giant pile of cabbage left after making over a thousand face masks while in quarantine. 
I started by pulling a pattern off my husband’s old patched 4XLT work shirt that has become my favorite house coat during the pandemic, so I had a fairly simple pattern to make out of the fabric I was going to piece. 
My original plan was to have an ombre effect on the jacket, light at the shoulders to dark at the hem. When I started laying out the pieces, it ended up also having a rainbowy effect from reds on the left to blues and purples on the right. It took about two days to sort and cut all the pieces of fabric from the mask scraps - the largest is 4″x 5″, and I drew the line at the smallest being 2″x 2″. When I wasn’t sure in what order to put the brighter colors in terms of going from light to dark, I pulled out my phone and used it as a tool to look at them in greyscale mode, and went with what order they looked like they should go when the color wasn’t involved.
I pieced each panel over top of the pattern piece it was going to be on, and added a little extra for wiggle room, then thread traced each piece onto the panel, stay-stitched just under 1/4″ from the edge, and cut. I bagged out the bottom hem as I flat-lined each piece to stash fabric that had been too loosely woven for masks, but was perfect for lining fabric. I then joined everything together with french seams and boom - quilted patchwork jacket.
Making the mask took longer than I expected. Based on the amount of Bridgerton and Fate: The Winx Saga that played in the background while I was working, it took about 14 hours from start to finish.
Printing the mask pattern onto interfacing was brilliant - although trying the DIY scotch tape/interfacing trick didn’t go so well. The time it took me to unjam the printer isn’t part of the 14 hours. I did manage to print it onto a 8-1/2 x 11 commercial poplin meant for printing your own photos onto fabric to put into craft projects - then I added Heat ‘N’ Bond onto the backs before cutting out the pieces. That went wonderfully and made the mask pretty sturdy once it was finished.
For the most part, I followed the instructions that were with the pattern - but I did end up making a few changes: 
I didn’t bother to top-stitch the bottom center seam. There’s no way to go all the way to the tip of the beak by machine, and nobody’s going to be looking at the bottom of the mask much anyhow. I just pressed the seam open very well on a sleeve board.
I didn’t add a fabric face strap - instead, I put two eyelets at the top and bottom of piece #10 after I was done and ran a lanyard through them with a cord lock, which worked very well.
On the round eye pieces, I edge stitched a line on the inside after flipping the lining around to the back side to keep everything smooth and in place.
Rather than folding the edge of the large circle down and pinning a ton of tiny pleats in place, I ran a line of small gathering stitches around the edge of the larger piece and used it like a drawstring to pull the large circle to the back side of the eye pieces and hold it in place. I ironed it well, and ran the gathering strings through the eyehole to the inside of the mask. I didn’t cut them off until after I had the eye pieces stitched down onto the mask. (I wish I’d taken a picture of this step, because it’s a lot quicker than the pinning - alas, it was 2 am and I didn’t think to.)
I didn’t slip stitch the eye pieces down onto the front of the mask. I pinned them in place, with pins situated kind of like spokes on a wheel. I edge stitched the eye pieces onto the mask by machine, walking the machine over each pin by hand. (Note - I was using an industrial sewing machine that handles thick fabric just fine and has a much heavier foot pressure than most home machines, so that probably helped this turn out well.)
If I were making this again, I would attach the bias for the eye holes from the front and fold it around to the back instead of the other way around - just for an aesthetic factor. It was a lot easier to make the final line on the bias look clean - which, sadly, will never be seen inside the eyepiece. The line around the bias inside the mask is the one part of mine that looks a bit messy.
Over-sized round “John Lennon” Sunglasses worked perfectly for lenses on this. After a while, they do fog up - I’m betting that wipes meant to keep the inside of goggles from fogging up will probably fix this.
I paired the jacket and mask with my pre-quarantine garb skirts and leather hat (shaped much like the quintessential illustration of a plague doctor), a shirt from my closet, and a cotton duck corset I had already finished as an experiment in color (Each external faux bone casing is in a different color radiating around half of the corset.) and also as an experiment in edge shaping - I made the corset extra-long, and then hand drew scallops around the bottom of the corset - not quite deep enough to count as tabs. I wanted to see if the bones were enough to keep these down and flat on the corset, or were they long enough they would flip up when worn? (Spoiler: They actually sit flat - yeay!)
Also learned on this project - when your husband is taking the photographs, and he is much taller than you, every picture that isn’t of your back will end up being a boob shot. XD

I didn’t intend to draw angsty Azemet right after the fluffy piece I posted for them lmao. I don’t usually draw serious stuff in general, so this was interesting to work on!
The well traveled and kind-hearted Azem would be aghast over Solus zos Galuvs and his Empire...
Longer thoughts on this piece lore / technical for those interested:
While drawing the much lighter and happier Hades / Azem, I was suddenly filled with the thought, “Hey, it’s been a long time since I drew angst! Or wrote it.” My love of angst stretches far back to my early teen years... I revisited that for a bit for this piece lol
I’ve fashioned my Azem (or creatively named Helios) to be a very innocent, loving soul. Helios could never understand why Hades did any of this. For the love of his people? “For us?” Helios wouldn’t want this. He would merely stare in horror at the man he once loved. Hades, consumed by the millennia of grief for the past, desperately pleads his case to Helios. But it doesn’t matter.
Technical wise, I was mostly focused on practicing with greyscale values and keeping true to my undersketch. I also took a stab at constructing bodies a different way this time, not that it’s very evident without seeing the under-undersketch. :>
Originally the background was going to be snowy Garlemald, but I felt that relatively serene setting didn’t portray the depravity I was going for. (note the sparks floating around started off as snowy bits >:3) I took a glance at Ala Mhigo and did a very, very quick bg based off a general Garlean invasion. The background wasn’t my main focus for this piece, so... I really skimped on it lmao. I like to focus on a few things when I draw versus overwhelming myself with every thing.
I also wanted to push serious expressions a bit more. I feel I’m making some progress, but there’s a ways to go before I get to where I want to be! I still laugh at how I portray more serious expressions, buuuut how will I ever get to where I wanna be if I just shy away from trying to draw them hmmm
It’s been an absolute blast to work on so much in the past month. The saying “Through love, all is possible” doesn’t just apply to people. ;>

[A greyscale comic and a digital painting both of Jonathan Sims and Tim Stoker. 
The comic has 5 panels consisting in 1. Jon’s head in the middle, looking at a hand reaching for him. 2. Jon leaning on said hand with a sad look on his face. 3. Tim, the owner of the hand, looking down at him confused and a little bit angry while asking “…why”. 4. A sideview of both, as Jon says “I… don’t think you’ll melt my face off…?”, Tim replying “Wrong, I just haven’t decided yet” with anger on his eyes, and Jon ending with “Well, I- I trust you, Tim”. 5. The same position as before, but Jon is holding his hand with his own as he leans his face on it again, and Tim looks at him confused, eyes softer than before.
 The painting is based on The Kiss by Gustav Klimt, Tim holding Jon’s face with his hands as he leans down to kiss his cheek and Jon holding one of his hands with his own and the other on Tim’s neck. The hand holding his has past burn scars, but on his face there’s a peaceful smile as he closes his eyes. As in the original painting they’re both wearing some yellow clothes, but here it’s interwoven with patterns of fire, and circles and eyes on oranges, reds and purples. The background is transparent, except for two big eyes, that are closed, and a fire that doesn’t quite reach Jon. //End ID]
HEY SO yesterday i woke up with a lot of feelings abt desolation!tim jontim, their complicated but real history with trust and how much would it mean for Jon to Trust Tim despite his less than good first impression with a desolation avatar, and for some reason in my mind all that translated into… the painting the kiss…. (that i cant link bc then this wont appear in the tag, but go look it up its a v lovely painting)
i drew these kinda quickly (and jon is too smiley fjfjgj let him be happy…) but anyway… I love them u_u
