JING YUAN — is literally father and daddy coded you cannot persuade me that he isn’t (i will throw hands at you) he’s super sweet and gentle with you before and after your pregnancy, he’ll actually probably treat you the same after you get your children — although maybe he’ll be more patient. overall he’s on the chiller dad side. personally, jing yuan would naturally know how to handle his children even when they’re a few hours after birth. he would cradle them with so much care and gentleness like your baby is made of fragile glass. but what’s to expect? he has yanqing to deal with in the first place.

JING YUAN — would be the man to kiss your forehead multiple times during pregnancy, he’ll actually transform into a male wife, he’ll also go as far as canceling all of his meetings and not give a damn about each one, even if you tried telling him to; he’s stick by your side like super glue. he’s SO reassuring. it’s a shame fu xuan had to deal with a man like him, he’ll never focus properly even if he went to work. all he has on his mind is you and his soon-to-be little versions of you and him.

“take it easy, love. i’ll be right by your side if you need me.”

JING YUAN — who would and will have two daughters, he’s such a girl dad i can see it. i feel like he wouldn’t (??) have twins, just like one child at a time, a very supportive dad. he could easily cheer up his daughters anytime, like when they trip, fall, scrap their knee, need help on homework, need assistance on changing, and so much more.

JING YUAN — who takes naps with his daughters anywhere, anytime. his daughters definitely inherited their father’s love for sleep (and his lazy personality), they enjoy sleeping just like their sleep deprived father. you’ll as often walk in on the three sleeping together — the children wrapped in jing yuan’s warm, muscular arms. unfortunately, you go a long way just to wake up your husband, what makes you think waking up your husband and two more lazy children that have the same ego as their father help?

“mommyy… 5 mor’…”

“mhm, what she said… just 5 more minutes, darling… how about you join us..?

JING YUAN — spoils his daughters. he doesn’t spoil them too much, or else they’ll grow up to be greedy, so he’ll spoil them just a right amount that they know how to behave properly when receiving something thoughtful. he cherishes the moments he gets to spend with you and the children together — he occasionally schedules times so he can get home at a specific time to spend with his family. eating dinner, playing games, and just enjoying his family. on rare occasions, his girls will wake up early and even come to your’s and jing yuan’s bedroom to wake you two up in the morning! leading to a huge cuddle session and cute babbling from your mix of you and jing yuan.

BLADE — is quite the dad, actually. he obviously won’t show it, but he’s in between being extremely nervous and extremely excited on being a dad. he’s not sure if it’ll be worth the shot even being a father, due to all of the trauma and greif he’s had in his life. but after he met you, he’s started to diminish his need to disappear. additionally, you’ll be there to reassure him.

BLADE — is a very good father. like before, he’s nervous, but he has soft spot for you — which means he has an even softer spot for his own children. he’s a girl dad; one daughter and i can see it. he takes REAL good care of her when she’s just minutes out the womb. just the way blade’s eyes softened so much and his mouth slight gaped can tell how blade sees his beautiful daughter. the man to tuck his girl’s stray hairs out of her face and kiss her face afterwards.

BLADE — who's so gentle with his daughter. despite being a wanted criminal who fights with much skill and discipline, it’s a true surprise to see him so vulnerable while using his rough hands to softly cradle his daughter who’s ten times smaller than him. he’ll let his daughter play with his bangs and long luscious hair, even if he has to brush it all over again. he doesn’t give a single care about his hair, as long as his daughter gets her entertainment. he’ll let her slap his face, squish his cheeks, bump his nose, whatever (he probably wouldn’t let them all slide). on some days, when blade’s not running around and escaping from soldiers, he lets his daughter go ALL out on him. the two will definitely play — dress up, dolls, tea party’s, and much, much more (but it’s not like he can say no).

BLADE — who unfortunately “becomes” a pretty princess once his daughter gets to work. neon clips, silky ribbons, fake makeup, pink hair ties, jewelry, everything. and when you witness it, it’s more than difficult to hold in your laugh.

“blade!… blade?-”

“don’t.”

BLADE — is a pretty accurate protective father, but sometimes, it’s not even his protectiveness that’s acting. just a small glance or look from him can scare any boy from staying near or close your daughter. you remind him constantly to give his daughter some freedom, but what’s he gonna do if he’s doing nothing — but staring at the boy? it’ll take time for him to accept a guy that your daughter actually really likes and wants to be with, but don’t worry, blade will be “kind” enough to do it for his daughter. but don’t expect him to accept a man so easily (and the man to accept a dad-in-law so… scary), he’ll definitely have them take a “trial” on something to be able to be his daughter’s lover. heads up, if any guy hurts his daughter in any way, physically, mentally, or emotionally, they better count their days.

DAN HENG — is literally the sweetest dad to ever have, it’s tooth rottening. he’s like the entire package. he’ll make sure his children get a good education, live in a good environment, provide them with a decent life style, and hope they grow up to be amazing people (i’m crying rn). but before actually receiving you giving birth to your child, dan heng was the biggest nervous thing ever. he never thought to ever have a child of his own, and doubt how he’ll have to work it out. but you reassured him, and true to your words, he was.

DAN HENG — stays by your side almost all the time during your pregnancy. even when he had lots of trailblazing with the crew, he insisted to stay back to care for you and his future children. fortunately, he was allowed to by himeko and welt — unfortunately for march 7th and the trailblazer, they were missing a member to provoke. he can and will do everything and anything for you; the whole princess treatment. need water? right on top of your bed stand. need a pillow? he’s already rushing for a spare one. need something to eat? he’s already provided it (breakfast in bed guys). don’t forget the cuddles on the side, he’ll provide that anytime. his cuddles are literally so warm it warms up your body in the process, he’s like your personal heater. dan heng will definitely rub soothing circles on the belly — he knows it gets difficult to be a mother (not by experience guys get it out of your head), so he hopes all his acts of service helps you.

“shhh… take it easy love.”

DAN HENG — would have 2 children, a son and a daughter. unless it’s il dan heng, then that’s something else. i’d say the son is the oldest, although i don’t exactly 100% see it. there will be tears when he gets to see his very first child, holding them like it’s like his very last chance of living. he’ll immediately kiss your forehead after you’ve given birth to your and his’ child, promising to care for your son (and future daughter) ‘till the day he dies. he’ll also be by your side when your in the process of delivering your child. rubbing circles on your hands, lightly hushing and kissing you, intertwining hands, and saying the most supportive and loving words ever. and you maybe even cried during it because you can’t believe to have such an amazing husband like dan heng by your side (i’m crying again). additionally, the way his heart and eyes melted when you send him a small smile and slowly closed your eyes to rest.

DAN HENG — who like blade, would let his children play with his hair. sometimes, he’d transform into his vidyadhara and let his children play with his long hair; clipping clips, tying his hair, fashioning it, etc. i guess the son wouldn’t be so into that, but he’ll help his sister dress up their father. you melt whenever you happen to see your little toddlers play and try to chase after their father’s dragon tail. careful not to have them trip or fall, dan heng enjoys teaseing them and having them run after his tail — like a puppy, hoping that they manage to catch his tail and play atop it. i also can’t help but think of the thought dan heng would have his tail “turn” into a slide for his little children! they would just slide down and run back to their father for another round until they’re exhausted.

“hehe... again! again!”

“alright, you can slide some more, but then it’s gonna be your nap time.”

“ok, daddy!”

DAN HENG — who lovingly tucks his kids in their bed or crib when it’s their nap time, or it’s their bedtime. it’s such a heartwarming scene to witness, it could easily melt even the coldest of hearts. i think dan heng would sing them lullabies, but occasionally when he feels like it’s time for them understand the meanings of his songs. dan heng slightly blushes when he sees you in the doorway, flustering that you got to see how vulnerable he is, but that’s not a bother.

AVENTURINE — is one of the funnest and dedicated dads. he just loves his children so much, even if he has a side job, he always manages to make time for them and you. would definitely cry tears of joy and happiness when he receives them, stroking their small heads and holding them so tenderly. he loves you so much for giving him his children; he'd babble on forever about how you're such an amazing wife for working so hard for him and you, probable crying while saying all those heartwarming things. he's more than grateful to have his little children.

AVENTURINE — is such an AMAZING dad and supporter oh my goodness. he's so caring when you're a few months and/or weeks pregnant. maybe he becomes a male-wife (??), that's very visible in my brain. for awhile, he would take a break on going to the casino — to stay home and care for you. would easily decline any offer from any opponents that want to gamble. you would sometimes just wake up in the morning and hear his conversations to somebody about some business.

"no... im good... listen, for the last time, im not. please and thank you." hangs up.

"oh! mornin' babe. huh? — oh, its nothing, just some brat."

AVENTURINE — is a girl dad, but i feel like he would have one son and two daughters. he would love them all equally and take care of them so much; giving them a childhood he never managed to have. aventurine i guess i pretty known for being quite a guy, but his kids would be the sweetest ever — which he said was inherited by you. but just like their dad, they have another side (😈), they can be SO troublesome and little maniacs if they want to.

AVENTURINE — who gets tackled to the ground whenever he gets home from work by his children. it’s so cute and entertaining to see him get beaten to the ground by kids so much younger than him. they would just tackle his — grabbing his hat and coat and wearing them themselves ITS SO CUTE. additionally, i see aventurine taking the three bundles of joy to his gambling games and have them like sit on his lap and let them experience it. and also watching their dad ‘win’, is what he said. but after a couple weeks of their visits, aventurine eventually had to limit their visits because they kept exposing his cards; throwing them, playing with them, shouting out his cards, etc.

“daddy has only two more blue cards!”

“and one yellow!”

“oh! hehe… don’t shout out, love, it’s rude.”

AVENTURINE — who does the weirdest things with his kids. he would one hundred percent (sorry not sorry) dab up his son and teaches him the weirdest shit ever. like it’s kinda not surprising at all. he would also let his daughter play around with his necessary stuff. many of his other stuff needs to been hidden well, because you know, his kids are pretty curious.

Months of reading how Armand is the Big Bad man behind the curtain manipulating and mindcontrolling everyone with his godlike powers, and now suddenly in one day it switched to cruel Pimp Louis manipulating and enslaving Armand and Armand being his poor victim. I'm begging you to look at these characters and their relationships with some nuance. I'm not denying that Louis is trying to manipulate Armand in some moments (Jacob said it himself in the post-episode bit) but seeing that park scene as Louis intentionally evoking Armand's trauma and a pimp and slave assuming their old roles is in my opinion a stretch and i didn't read it that way. Tbh i also find it pretty offensive that some people are acting like when Louis was a pimp he was doing something similar to people who subjected Armand to literal sexual slavery because they're vastly different situations.

Arun isn't Armand's 'slave name' or 'prostitute name', it was his actual birth name before he was sold and abused, and he lost that name due to abuse. If Louis had actually wanted to push a master-slave dynamic he would've probably called Armand Amadeo, because that was the name Armand's abuser, who Armand served and in some way still loves, gave to him. When Louis was a pimp he notably also didn't actually act particularly domineering with sex workers, on the contrary he was usually friendly to them, because he felt guilty for exploiting women and tried to convince himself he was just helping and working with them and that they were equals. He made sex workers like Bricktop Williams minority owners of his business and they felt comfortable with criticizing him. If Louis had actually 'treated Armand like one of his prostitutes' in this episode he would've acted completely differently. Remember also that Armand has a remarkable mind gift and that Louis is bad at hiding his thoughts: if Louis had actually been trying to manipulate Armand in this specific way, Armand would very likely know it.

In the beginning of the episode Armand is frustrated that Louis doesn't acknowledge that they're companions, and Louis expresses that they don't really know each other. Later at the restaurant Armand gets angry and uses his powers dramatically which upsets Louis. He also talks to Louis rather harshly, saying that he and Santiago are acting like fledglings (children) and angrily tells Louis to come back when he leaves. Later Armand comes to apologize bringing flowers. All this reminds Louis of Lestat, and reveals how apprehensive he still is about Armand. Armand deciding to tell Louis his story is a conscious effort to show vulnerability and convince Louis of what he promised: that Armand isn't like Lestat and he isn't going to hurt him. Jacob said that dreamstat represents not only Lestat but Louis' doubts about Armand. In the museum scene this is particularly obvious when Louis feels deep sympathy for Armand, but at the same time dreamstat - a part of Louis - looks angry and distrustful. According to Jacob in the park scene as Louis lets go of Lestat he's also letting go of those doubts and accepting Armand as he is and for who he is.

So when Louis calls Armand by his birth name that could be considered his 'real' name even though no one has called him that for centuries, i see it as him saying 'Do we see each other now? Are we honest about things now? Can i trust that you are who you say you are?' When Armand calls Louis maitre he's trying to establish an impression of equality, because as they both know Armand is the maitre and the leader of the coven and the one with much more power. For Armand the ideal of love is the one of mutual worship and servitude. Like many things with Armand, his actions in this episode are both sincere and manipulative, and his seeming submissiveness is also certain kind of domination that helps him to get what he wants.

I just don't think their relationship is anything like Louis being a master and Armand being a slave at all. It's a very, very complicated and mercurial relationship that is not easily defined and where the dynamics are constantly shifting. As Jacob said, they're constantly flip-flopping between who's the dominant one and who's the submissive one, and who needs what out of the other. He also said that at the end of this episode their relationship takes on this almost BDSM kind of role playing where their roles switch, which implies that a) it's a play and not what their relationship is actually like and b) there was earlier a different dynamic where Armand was more dominant. Their Rashid role play in Dubai was also that, a role play.

When talking about those Louis' 'manipulative instincts' as Jacob called them, it needs to be considered they're something that Louis developed having to live in a racist society for all his life ("using his weakness to rise") and being in an abusive relationship for decades. For Louis that kind of soft power has often been the only power he has, and of course he's resorting to it when in a relationship with much older and much more powerful person he doesn't fully trust. The way i perceive Louis and Armand's relationship, it's a fragile, carefully crafted design built on contradictions, performances and illusions, where they both seek to maintain a fantasy where they both feel sufficiently in control and the relief of releasing that control at the same time

Y/n sat with the children, listening to Usopp tell them how he helped defeat the fishmen with his slingshot. Making gestures with his body as he spoke word for word. Y/n put a hand to her mouth to stop herself from laughing when he fell backwards, as she ran over to help him up. Sanji poured everyone a bowl of his stew, and each villager thanked him gratefully. Sanji smiled and nodded as he looked at Y/n, his eyes meeting hers. With a locked gaze, she waved at him as she danced with the children, making Snaji chuckle lightly; he saw Zoro come up with his empty bowl as he raised a brow. “Enjoyed it that much, did you? Not too bad for a waiter, eh?” he laughed, pouring some more stew into his bowl. Zoro made a slight smile. “I’m just hungry, and this is the only available food. Doesn’t mean anything,” he nodded to Sanji as the cook grinned, watching Zoro walk away. “Whatever you say,” Sanji said to himself as he grabbed a bowl for himself and Y/n; making his way over, Y/n fell to the ground in a heap, the children climbing on top of her and burying her underneath them. “Hey, kids, do you mind if I give the pretty lady something to eat? I promise she can play with you later.”

Sanji asked the kids, and they gradually revealed that Y/n was lying on the ground, laughing lightly as they all ran to join Usopp and Luffy in playing with them. Y/n sighed, sitting beside Sanji “ I forgot just how much energy children have”, she said, out of breath. Sanji handed her one of the bowls with a chuckle. “You kept up well with them, darling. However, I think Usopp and Luffy could possibly overthrow you quite easily,” Y/n smiled. “And I wouldn’t have a problem with that; they are both big children at heart.” She ate Sanji’s stew, closed her eyes, and moaned in delight. “This is amazing, Sanji. If only Zeff were here to try this. You’ve come a long way as a chef,” she complimented. Sanji blushed lightly at her compliment. “Yeah, if the old man ever develops quality taste buds, that is”, he made the joke Y/n gasped, shoving Sanji playfully. “Sanji! You are terrible,” she laughed at her friend’s joke.

While Sanji was cleaning the dishes from the festivities, he saw Y/n come over to help him. “Darling, you don’t have to help; I can handle this” he looked over his shoulder Y/n put her hands on her hips. Sanji laughed, resuming cleaning the dishes and shaking his head. “The day I find out how to get you to listen to me-” he began when Y/n cut him off. “Which will be never”, she finished while helping him clean the bowls, handling the work in a comfortable silence. “You know I don’t mind helping you, Sanji. I’ve gotten used to it after all our time working for Zeff together. Besides, I like you, and you were the only cook I could stand. A plus, too, you are handsome and having a handsome cook and friend is a good thing,” she giggled. Sanji raised a brow, and a smug look appeared on his face. “Oh, you think I’m handsome, love. Tell me, is there anything else about me that’s, let’s say, a benefit?” he questioned, his eyes sparkling with amusement. Y/n hummed in response as she cleaned the last bowl and wiped her hands with a cloth. Sanji mirrored her as he waited for her response. “Depends on what you count as benefits, really”, she teased, tapping his shoulder and kissing his cheek. Looking over her shoulder at him while she walked away, Sanji’s heart raced, smiling. ‘She thinks I’m handsome,’ he thought as he stacked the bowls neatly.

Y/n stood with Nami, watching Luffy stretch his body and make the children laugh; the girls smiled at their friend having fun. “So, am I wrong to assume something is happening between you and Sanji?” Nami wriggled her brows with a cheeky grin Y/n blushed, shaking her head. “Oh, Sanji doesn’t see me that way; we’ve known each other since we were kids. Besides, I don’t want to ruin our friendship; it’s too special to me,” Y/n explained to Nami, who frowned. “I don’t know; you both seem too oblivious to each other’s looks or little compliments. I mean, he calls you darling, love, sweetheart, or any kind of affectionate nickname, and you don’t think he means something behind it?” Nami asked Y/n; her eyes drifted over to Sanji, taking in a breath. “He’s always been charming like that; he’s a romantic and loves making women feel special and adored. Even if it’s only for a day,” she smiled while watching Sanji sip his drink and talk to Zoro as they walked over to Y/n and Nami. “Oh my god, he’s coming over” Y/n hid in Nami’s shoulder; the orange-haired girl laughed. “Oh, you have feelings for him; it’s adorable”, she hugged her friend as Y/n’s muffled voice said, “I hate you.”

“Well, ladies, you look pretty this evening, Y/n; green suits you. I think it’s your new colour,” Zoro winked Y/n blushed, giggling. “Thank you, Zoro. Are you subtly suggesting something?” She asked him, sipping her water. Zoro tilted his head. “Well, normally, I wouldn’t allow it, but I can make an expectation just for you, honey. We’d look good together.” He smirked Y/n’s eyes and gazed at Sanji, his hand clenched tightly, and his eyes burned as he stared at Zoro. “I think it’s getting late. Maybe we should all get some sleep. It’s been a long day” Y/n and Nami nodded in agreement. “Yeah, good idea, see you in the morning”, Nami shouted as she walked away. Zoro sighed. “Yeah, sleep sounds good right about now. Good night, Y/n; sleep well, honey. If you need a bunk buddy, you know where I am.” he winked. Sanji’s jaw clenched, wrapping an arm around Y/n’s shoulders. “Yeah, whatever” he pulled Y/n away, his other hand tucked in his pocket, and they walked back to their sleeping huts.

“Sanji, is everything okay? You seem different,” Y/n asked softly, her hand on his shoulder. Sanji laid his head on the door of his hut, opened it and pulled her inside. “Sanji”, Y/n gasped lightly before she was pushed to the wall, caged between Sanji’s hands on either side of her head. Breathing heavily, Sanji stared into her eyes. “Can I tell you something?” He whispered as he leaned in slightly Y/n nodded her head wordlessly. “I have held back for so long with my feelings. The thought of rejection always plagued my mind, but I would regret it if I didn’t say something. I love everything about you: the way you smile, your blush, your eyes shine, your laugh and how you always have been there beside me. You have given me so much to admire and appreciate. I never realised how much one person can make you feel inspired and loved, my darling. I was told once that I should find someone who isn’t afraid of the word forever. And I am willing to spend forever with you if it means I share every moment with you, awake or in our dreams while we sleep. You have been the only girl I’ve loved and thought about since I understood what it means to cherish someone special. Y/n, I love you.” Sanji cupped her face, his head pressed to hers gently. Y/n’s eyes closed, and she had a smile on her lips. “You have no idea how much I’ve dreamed about hearing you say those last four words to me”, she admitted, looking into his eyes. “I love you too, Sanji. I’ve been too afraid to ruin our friendship at the risk of losing you. There is no one else but you; it’s always been you” She pressed her lips to his.

Both held on to each other like they were their only life source. Sanji’s arms wrapped around Y/n’s waist, securely pulling her close, carrying her over to the table, and sitting her on top gently. “How could I not see it? You were practically telling me,” Sanji murmured, making Y/n laugh lightly. “Oh, sweet Sanji, I forgive you” Y/n threaded her fingers through his hair, brushing her nose with his. “Also, we should probably thank Zoro for this.” She motioned between them. Sanji narrowed his eyes. “Don’t say his name”, he breathed, kissing her again, this time with a little more force; a moan escaped her lips. Sanji kissed her neck, and Y/n laughed. “Are you jealous, Sanji?” she moaned, feeling Sanji bite her neck softly. “Well, can you blame me?” His voice mumbled Y/n held onto his shoulders for support. “Well, two things; one, you don't have to be jealous of any man. And two, I’m tired. Can we just go to sleep?” she whined softly. Sanji chuckled, pulling her into his arms and carrying her to his bed. “Of course, darling, I’ll make up for lost time tomorrow” he kissed her lips gently before laying beside her, pulling a blanket over them Y/n tucked her head in Sanji’s chest, falling asleep instantly.

Sanji kissed Y/n’s head lightly, whispering, “Good night, darling.”

Deep Space Nine is probably my favorite Star Trek because every character on it is my favorite character.

Like on other Trek shows I can be like "oh I love Spock!" or "oh I love Picard & Data/LaForge" or whatever, but with DS9 every time any regular character comes on screen I'm like "oh hey it's X! I love that guy!" and cheer like the studio audience of Married with Children. I might not even say DS9 has my favorite episodes (that's probably TNG and a couple TOS & VOY episodes (more if we count ones I enjoy because they suck (such as Threshold and Spock's Brain))), but the characters? Perfect. Chef's kiss.

And it's not even that they have the BEST character, you know? Like, if I had to pick the best character in all of Star Trek, I might argue Spock, Data, The EMH, Picard, or even Kirk. It's that every character in DS9 is a 10/10 character for me. Like on TNG I absolutely love a few characters, but others I merely like. They're great, don't get me wrong, but they're not my favorite. I've got definite favorite characters on TOS and TNG and VOY and ENT. DS9? They're all my favorite. I love every character. To the pok that this includes guest stars! We all of Dukat, but we've also got Weyoun and Brunt: FCA, Damar and the female changeling, Jean Valjean and Martok and Leeta and Morn and Father Sisko, Luther Sloan and Kasidy Yates, and we can't forget Grand Nagus Zek and Maihar'du and MOOGIE!

Anyway, I think I'm gonna make a joke edit of an episode where every time a new character enters that we haven't seen before, they pause before their first line while a minute and a half of the studio audience losing their mind plays. This would only make the show worse but it would be very funny to me.

Could be drawn and quartered for saying this but I'll risk it. Genuinely I love Livia. She's so unbelievably funny to me. My first encounter with her was actually last spring bc I didn't get to play that part of lws3 until 2023 (wow) and I thought she was soooo fucking funny. She's trapped in a bloodstone puzzle and needs your help to escape but I STRUGGLED with this puzzle and could not for the life of me figure it out and if you take too long she starts MOCKING YOU for it. It's so funny. Trapped by magic and she's like (snidely) "oh do you need a hint? For this simple puzzle for children? Do you need a little help? Is that what the great Pact Commander needs is a little help with a puzzle for babies? Maybe let's get some disadvantaged uneducated orphans in here and they can show you." And then you work with her through the end of lws3 and she continues to be hilarious. And I'm certain that a lot of people dislike her for that reason. She doesn't bathe in your excellence. She spends some fair amount of time treating you like a fool and a nuisance that she grows mildly warm towards.

Like when this bit dropped in SotO and people rushed to be like NOT MY COMMANDER! DOESNT APPLY TO MY COMMANDER! No? Alright, tell me your thoughts about why you hate Livia. ^_^ ohhh cuz she's rude and disrespectful to you? Oh noooooo... oh noooo is that why...!

Like it's not actually an issue to me. I don't care if people have differing opinions on a character, I don't care if the reason for disliking her IS "she's disrespectful and rude and I think I/my Commander deserve respect" like alright go off! I just find it funny. And a bit sad that she then gets trashed as like WORST CHARACTER IN THE GAME! WE ALL HATE HER ASS! Well I talked to Livia just yesterday. And she didn't even mention you. You didn't come up at all. And I texted her just now to ask about you and she was like "who?" So I think this might be a one way thing you have here. Sad!

And I'm sure for some percentage people it's also her combined race + gender! Black woman who talks down to you a bit and comments on your ineptitude. I'm sure that sits poorly with some players out there. Especially those seeking escape as the flawless genius loved-by-all hero of the story. It's not dissimilar to the years-long grudge some players hold against Braham for (checks notes) cold-shouldering you and pushing you away while grieving his dead mother as a teenager, and daring to make a stupid choice or two in the decade to follow. And for not basking in your excellence during. Whilst black. Idk. I'm no expert. I'm just the guy who enjoys things. The enjoyerrrrrrrrrr.

alright pals, it's time for some rhaenicent fic recs, as asked for by literally 10s of you. here are nearly 500k words of things that have made me kick my heels with joy.

you don't know what love is (if you don't put up a fight) by tansymeadows. 144k, E. technically not finished, but the first 14 chapters feel like a complete story. rhaenyra returns just in time for viserys' death, alicent doesn't back aegon and instead rhaenyra is crowned queen. visenya lives, daemon takes his leave, and rhaenyra courts the dowager queen through the process of succession. the slowest slow burn to ever burn. there is so much plot, a whole-ass war, and they're so ridiculously in love. this fic is why it took me so long to finish compiling this list, because i sat and reread every single delicious word, because it circles back and forth all over their history in a way that just askjdhas. i've read this twice now and even just flipping through it to write this up is trying to suck me back in.

i dwell in possibility by ladybundle / @ladybundle. 29k (2 part series). viserys doesn't die and rhaenyra returns to king's landing. visenya lives, aegon dies, and alicent in this is the most tortured lesbian while they mend their relationship. i really dig the whole vibe of the writing in this, which feels very in character, if that makes sense for the vibe of a fic rather than just a character. the second fic is the origin of the 'alicent hightower's belated sexual awakening' tag i started using, which is a category of fics that i enjoy very, very much.

you'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream by rosiep8801/ @rosehathaways-sidepiece. 12k, M. another one where viserys doesn't die and rhaenyra returns to king's landing, this time one in which they wholeheartedly and rabidly throw themselves into sorting their shit out, as they share a bed over and over each night as they battle through their issues. this one has my favourite iteration of the traditional alicent hightower learns of the female orgasm scene.

cleopatra by dontaskmedude. 52k, E. this one appears on every rec list i've ever seen, and rightfully so. kicks off with the weirwood scene in 104, and runs from there, a lovely alternate reality where alicent/rhaenyra/laenor/joffrey live the next 20-odd years in relative peace. this one smashes me in the feelings.

where fire and ice meet by wariangle. 41k, 4 part series, E. pre-series through to rhaenyra's ascension, everything's the same except she refuses to marry or have children. it's okay though, because she has a plan. i am deeply obsessed with "and they were two queens through machinations" fic. alicent in this is my actual fave, she's so spiky; the final fic in the series, although actually deeply sad, has a premise that makes me howl with laughter because obviously alicent hightower, lesbian with a wife for 20 years, would also be a massive homophobe.

not on the last day by revans_mask. 48k, E. alicent goes with otto to meet with rhaenyra and offer terms, and while she's there she slips rhaenyra a message. there are a couple of beats in this that are so romantic i clutched at my chest.

keep the promise in your mouth by iwantthemtostay / @iwantthemtostay. 87k, E. technically not finished, but only missing an epilogue. the closest thing to AU on this list; rhaenyra is barren, alicent has four daughters, and when viserys dies while rhaenyra is away from westeros, daemon takes the crown. when she returns, he forces alicent and rhaenyra to marry each other for reasons. as the summary says, they make the best of it. this fic makes me insane, it's so dreamy.

ride the dragon (do it quickly) by molter / @molter-writes. 36k, unrated. in the free real estate between 106 and 107, viserys sends rhaenyra and alicent to do some politicking in the north. alicent cannot stand the cold, so what is rhaenyra to do but share her bed to keep her warm. alicent is so angry about it.

thine is the queendom by liadrell / @lesbianalicent. 11k, M. the only non-ship fic on this list. an alicent character piece set in the free real estate between 105 and 106, and deal with the absolutely batshit fact that alicent was pregnant with daeron at the same time rhaenyra was pregnant with jace in a way that made me sad as fuck tbqh.

daughters of the dragon by DMCMercy. 14k, M. the kiddos patch things up with alicent's first pregnancy, kicking off what is not at all secretly one of my favourite categories of early canon divergence: alicent's other husband rhaenyra.

thoughts on branch brothers?

John Dory: I think he's very interesting. He needs to take accountability for his actions and he's very flawed but he's my favorite brother (aside Branch of course, he's my fav character in the whole franchise). He is precisely what happens when the eldest sibling is left as a parental figure for their other siblings.

It's not easy and often times they end up souring the relationships with their siblings because they have to parent them. Very common in households with lots of children! Learning that he is a parallel as to what Branch would've ended up like had he not met Poppy really changed me too. I will always love you JD even if no one else gets you 💔

Bruce: He's fine, I just think how he was talking to Branch in Rhonda was so wrong. He has 13 children but couldn't understand how Branch could've felt? Strange 🤨 I think his relationship with Brandy is lovely though and he's very pretty :]

Clay: He's chill! I think he's a dork but he's level headed and the only one who apologized on screen and he seems to understand where he went wrong. Would definitely join his book club!

Floyd: Don't really have much of an opinion on him because he doesn't really have much info. Kinda sucks that he didn't really get to get scolded by Branch simply bc of his circumstances. Why did you promise to come back?? He needs to apologize too.

All of them need to apologize properly tbh, y'all are too grown for that. Overall, they're silly and fun but branch needs a normal family member 😭

Clover's personality/mbti pt.2

PLEASE REBLOG IF YOU CAN (THIS AND MY PREVIOUS TWO BLOGS ABOUT CLOVER'S PERSONALITY), I WOULD LOVE MORE PEOPLE TO SEE MY UTY MBTI SERIES (TYSM)

When I said Clover has a more of a subjective than an objective train of thought, I also meant this: stealing money and stealing food is not OK in general but it is OK to them. They sure listen to themselves ↓

They have more of a creative than a mechanical mind (but in order to deal with a lot of the situations they were in, they had to use their head to survive), look at these ↓

they literally linked this situation with a saying (this is so something an intuitive like myself would do)

Clover's thinking function was more prominent in the vengeance route; their thinking is activated to the maximum here instead of empathy, but it's still subjective since they still have that Fi paired up with Te (see my last post). The sad thing about genocide is how Clover loses absolutely everything that made them who they are in pacifist:

empathy gone

warmth gone (even Flowey feels their heart growing colder)

naivety gone

creativity gone

humor gone

Clover has always been kind, so I don't think their auxiliary is Fe. That isn't what needs to develop, or the weakest part about their way of thinking, the one that will shape them into who they were always meant to be.

Because they only felt kindness towards their own race, that's the problem. Clover was judgmental and thought they were doing the right thing, completely disregarding the monsters' side of the situation. Vengenace Clover is the other side of pacifist Clover's coin. This is what I mean ↓

this type of capable of so much kindness but at the same time, if unhealthy, the effect is the complete opposite

That means the Clover in genocide IS the same Clover, but who made difference subjective choices. Whose justice for the children they didn't even know (they, once again, subjectively decided that the children had been innocent, as Martlet pointed out too) was so strong that they refused to see the truth: how both species struggled in this war.

we can see Clover is still "idealistic" but tunnel visioned

"Normal" Clover is open minded, non judgemental and accepting of differences. They can put themselves in others shoes, but in genocide they're the opposite because they gave in to their "dark side" The reason I said they're the same Clover, is that, when I looked at the mbti people gave them, I saw this ↓

I knew right away it can't be right that the same character is a different type when they're at their best and worst. It had to mean that they're neither of the two types people thought

Clover had been introduced to a lot of different problems they had to constantly deal with and get out of the "comfort zone" that are the Ruins. Toriel undoubtedly told them about the kids, and then Clover decided to stay safe rather than jump into adventure. That's what got me thinking: "Their reason for being here has to do with morality: it is Clover who thinks how it's not right for no one to go look for the children." It's more their own values of what's right, than their own truth. They follow the heart more than the head (although the Te becomes developed as the adventure unfolds and they are faced with difficulties), even in geno (see the previous two posts for more about this point)

To learn to solve real world problems using logic, to step up and take charge, "defuse situations" and "mend relationships" by using both thinking and feeling, to become a leader and a hero, that's Clover's end goal.

Look at Clover from their first run (being protected all their life) and Clover from their 100th+ (faces challenges bravely and willingly dies a hero)

As someone that loves court IFs i am already very scared that someone is definitely gonna fucking die 😭 i have developed trust issues with you damn IF authors. Usually when i like an IF alot the damn authors are brilliant but like throwing curveballs at us 😭🤣

I played all the variations and as someone that usually plays a MLM mc the dynamics are so different lol christ. I know I'm probably setting myself up for a world of pain romancing a male RO as a Male MC. Especially among a setting with nobility.

The MC's family dynamic is one of my favorite parts of the entire game. They're going to be important characters, and I look forward to writing more of them. Alaric and Eulia aren't perfect parents, but they certainly love their children. I really wanted to make a game where the MC has actually loving parents XD.

I won't spoil about any possible future deaths, but stuff will certainly be going down in the future! Curveballs, if I do my job right, will definitely be thrown tho 👀.

MLM Lux and the MC are such a sweet combination, especially from the beginning! Now, stuff might get angstier later, but for the near future, I would say you will enjoy plenty of fluff from this variation.

Sasuke acknowledging Naruto. I believe this is just peak. Because Naruto's story at its core is about Naruto seeking acknowledgment to feel like he has a right to exist. Sasuke did it when they were children (although vaguely), and in the chuunin exams, but even then it wasn't enough for Naruto. Sasuke's words are fuel to Naruto's strength, he will always need his acknowledgment and reassurance.

"Shut up, Usuratonkachi" Honestly, the whole conversation leading up to Sasuke's tears. Sasuke knowing he's loved, that he doesn't need to fix it all on his own, that Naruto has got him and loves him and that's all that truly matters in the end. The world be damned. This is truly one of the most romantic moments my eyeballs have perceived😔

Sasuke protecting Naruto with his life. Sasuke throwing away his vengeance and going against ITACHI to protect Naruto. This moment cemented even to him that his dreams aren't completely in the past like he'd said, but he has someone he cares for in the present as well. And in Naruto's perspective, he didn't know he was important enough for Sasuke to risk his whole life for him. Naruto knowing he truly matters, to Iruka and Sasuke both, just makes me cry. I mean, this should be objectively at #1 place because it cements so much of what they mean to each other. But number 1 and 2 in my list just touch me so deeply personally.

Sasuke's sharingan evolving because of Naruto's beautiful heartfelt words. Truly eyes that reflect the heart. Naruto loves Sasuke sooo much, even when he doesn't understand the real facet of love that he meant. And Sasuke similarily loves Naruto and understands the extent of love in his words.

Naruto telling Sasuke he's glad he knew him in his life. Coming to the conclusion that all that makes sense is dying together (and in VOTE2 they live together. Poetic) the whole conversation in their impenetrable gay space and then afterwards while everyone listens. Sasuke felt truly seen, and although Naruto went to a different thought process than I would have liked, he really, really meant it with his heart that he saw no point in life without Sasuke.

I made this list and got ansty because there are so so many great moments that I can't just encapsulate in a top5 T_T I have to give honorable mentions;

And, and! Sasuke briefely thinking about Izanami and Izanagi before their fight in VOTE2 started. Sasuke went (....) gay silence during it, but he was thinking Naruto and he are Izanami and Izanagi. This is CANON.

Also, also, also, everytime Naruto stares at the orange sunset, when thinking about Sasuke. Yeah, that's gay! And their VOTE2 last clash happening at sunset, that's ALSO gay.

Sorry for the incessant yapping, but I just laugh when thinking about how homoph0bes could read Naruto (must be why they mischaracterize sasuke and naruto). Anyways, gay people always win. Always.

There's no one jumping on posts about the Velaryon boys to say that Rhaenyra only had them because she couldn't have Daemon. “ And Rhae loving one ‘set’ of boys more over the other …

Saying this is never debated and it’s always JUST Laena stuff is so fake. I’ve seen many many debates over all of these, and more.

Did Daemon care about Laena, yes. Did he love her? Maybe. Would he have ever married her if he had been allowed to marry Rhaenyra? No.

All of that being true and stating it doesn’t make us racist. It would have been the same if Laena had been like the book. I’m sorry the show writers suck, and did her dirty but.. It is what it is.

I simply wanted to say that yes, Laena is the victim of misogynistic writing (like all the women in the series) and of racism in addition, but that the fact that Daemon is not in love with her has nothing to do with that, because that most likely wasn't the case in Fire and Blood either. I expressed myself clumsily and too quickly, sure, but to assume that I'm saying that Daemon hated Laena when I never implied such a thing ? Like, just because I say Daemon wasn't in love with Laena, does that necessarily mean I'm saying he hates her ? WTF ? That does not make any sense.

Then, yes, I've already seen tons of posts exposing (with good reason) the fact that Rhaenyra probably wasn't in love with Harwin. It seems pretty obvious that if she could have had Daemon, she would never have been with Harwin. For what ? Because Harwin is an anedoc in the text for Rhaenyra apart from her boys. And also the fact that she suddenly stopped having children with him when Daemon was finally allowed to return from his exile to the court.

Just like I've already seen tons of Laena fans insult Rhaenyra's character as a whore. Literally, I've had some come to my inbox. Just like there are fans of Laena who write her in fanfiction as Daemon's true love and Rhaenyra the jealous whore who can't live up to him. But for all that, I'm not going to say that all Laena fans think that Rhaenyra is a whore (plus misogynistic and grossophobic comments).

There's even debate that the Velaryon boys should be disliked by Rhaenyra because they put her reputation and legitimacy at risk (even though in reality, no one cares except the asshole greens) !

Basically... well yes, as you say, everything this person cited has been debated about Rhaenyra.

Rhaenyra is also a character who has always been in trouble, even before the release of HOTD.

Not to say that Laena's case in HOTD is not serious, on the contrary, it is. But she's not the only victim of the fandom's mistreatment. I even think she's not the worst in the female character category from the entire GRRM universe by the fandom.

Either way, HOTD's general treatment of female characters is truly horrible and I fear that even if Baela and Rhaena finally get real scenes and dialogue in the future, they won't be treated any better than everyone else. Which particularly annoys me.

as an author, do you see the characters as your children? i kinda feel that way with my oc's, like "yeah that's my kid alright"

I would say no.

When I write, I think about what I'd want to read myself: the choices I'd like to make, the attitude I'd like to see in the MC, the characters I'd enjoy romancing, and so on.

If I treated them like children, I wouldn't be able to think of them in those terms.

But my IF in general terms - yes.

It's my baby that requires attention, effort, and dedication. It's labor, but I've been much happier since I started working on my story. I love what I do, and I'm happy to see it progress and grow.

That's why I'm very grateful for all the support I get. Thank you for being here and for helping me grow my story ♥

WRITERS NOTE … Just a Sena life update piece! She's not doing well! I'm trying to finish pieces I started a long time ago and this has been in my docs for a hot minute so...Here she is! Sena is struggling but when isn't a Venus girl struggling lol! I feel like the POV kinda switches from Finn to Sena during this, it's not jarring or anything but just a heads up! rbs, comments, and asks are always appreciated ♡

Finn feels as if he was cursed from the moment he was born.

It was raining the day he was born. He became the only son in a family of three girls that would later turn to four just two years after his birth. His mom told him lightning struck the hospital she was giving birth in when he was born, and the power went out for a full twenty minutes. Finn came into the world seven minutes later when the power came back on.

That story has always stuck with him, leaving a sinking feeling in his gut whenever he thinks about it. He doesn’t know why, but it makes his jaw tighten.

Finn’s childhood was great. His parents loved him, his sisters loved him, he had food on the table every night, and he watched cartoons every day after school. He learned to play the piano at age six and guitar at seven. His musical abilities came to him naturally, becoming something his mother greatly encouraged. It didn’t take a genius to see that Finn’s mom settled for the high-paying accounting job she would drag herself to every day. Her passion was music, classical, to be exact. She loved the violin and tried to get all her children to at least try it once. Finn hated it, as did most of his sisters except Lauren, but in Finn's opinion, Lauren only lived to please their mother.

There are often times when Finn will sit and stare at his bedroom wall, memorizing every trophy and achievement he’s plastered on there or displayed. He’s won the most prestigious songwriting awards, produced chart-topping hits, made his group go platinum, and he can’t even begin to count the music show trophies he has on his shelf. They’re all fantastic achievements that many dream of achieving, but when Finn looks at them, he just sees things. He sees paper, plastic, and metal that has lost its shine long ago.

Sena knew she was cursed from the moment she was born.

She was born in her grandmother’s bathtub on a Sunday. It was sunny outside. Her mother called her a miracle. Sena never knew why she was called a miracle until she was fourteen, and her older brother told her that her father threw her mother down the stairs four days before her birth. Everyone thought she died in the womb that day, but she came out a happy and healthy baby.

Sena can’t remember much of her childhood; it wasn’t good, and it’s good she can’t remember it. Her mother is dead, her father is in prison for life, her brother is in New Hampshire, and her sister is still living with her grandma. That’s all she cares to know about her family.

Being the daughter of a murderer is something Sena worked diligently to ignore. It’s a ghost that is always in the corner of every second of every day, watching her, taunting her, haunting her. Her father is always there; no matter how hard she pretends he’s not, he will always be there.

He’s there when she looks in the mirror, she’s there when she goes to sleep, and he’s there looming over her shoulder as she holds onto Finn’s shirt with pleading eyes.

“Finn, please.”

“It’s not right, Low. I can’t do that to you,” Finn tells her softly, taking her wrists into his hands. He looks equally as upset as she does. He hates seeing Sena suffer as much as she does, and even though he doesn’t know why she’s suffering, he wishes he could fix it in a way that wouldn’t destroy her. Sena whimpers loudly at his rejection, shaking him the best she can, but Finn is much bigger than her.

“Please, Finn! Please!” Sena begs as a sob falls from her lips. Finn looks away from her as her head falls onto his chest, curling his lips to try and hold back his own tears. He can’t help but want to cry when Sena cries. It’s like every sob stabs him in the chest, twisting the knife and ripping it out only to shove it back in. He aches for her, but he constantly aches for Sena. Sena feels like a book he can’t finish, a doll he can’t fix, a music box that plays off-tune, but he can’t throw away. He feels such a deep tie towards her that severing it completely would break him, but holding on seems to do the same.

“I just need–I just need something to take the edge off,” Sena pleads with a shaky voice, swallowing the saliva that gathered in her mouth as she tilts her head back to look at Finn more clearly. “Finn, I haven’t slept in three days. I can’t fucking take it anymore, please!”

Finn looks harder at her and sees the dark circles under her eyes. The longer he looks at her, the rougher she starts to look. The moon's dim light is the only thing illuminating his room, but he can still make out how dull her skin is and how dark her undereyes have gotten. He feels sick the longer he looks at her, nearly cracking and giving her what she wants, but he doesn’t. He shakes his head, taking her waist into his hands and squeezing tightly.

“It won’t–”

“I’ll just fucking get some from Yeojun,” Sena snaps suddenly, shoving Finn away with a heavy shove. “Is that what you want? You want me to go to him for drugs instead of you?”

“I don’t want you to do either, Harlow! Don’t fucking do drugs,” Finn snaps back, matching her volume and tone. Sena gawks at Finn’s response, scoffing at him nastily before she laughs.

“Oh, that’s so rich coming from you,” She laughs, shaking her head. “You can’t even rub your nose half the time, and you want to tell me not to do drugs. Fuck you.” Finn scoffs quietly at her words but nods because he can’t disagree. She’s right. Finn telling someone not to do drugs is as ironic as a fireman afraid of fire.

It’s silly. It’s laughable. It’s defeating.

Finn is a drug addict to Sena. That’s all he’s always been to her, and it’s clear by how easily and spitefully she throws it back in his face that’s all he’ll ever be to her. Finn swallows thickly, shaking his head as he sulks to his dresser. He opens the third top drawer to the right, his long fingers shuffling around inside it, sending baggies and pill bottles scattering as he pulls out the baggie he’s looking for. It’s small and has three blue pills inside it, all shaped like circles. He holds them out to Sena between two fingers.

“Try that,” Finn says dryly, watching Sena’s eyes fall to the baggie and then to Finn’s face, waiting for the catch that never comes. “It’s a Xanax. It’ll make you calm down. You shouldn’t do coke when you’re anxious.” He tells her, voice demining and patronizing, but Sena assumes she had it coming.

She takes the baggie from him slowly, as if she’s afraid to touch it, and a part of her is. She has addiction in her blood, given to her by her father and his father before him. That’s why she can go through a pack of cigarettes on a stressful day. Once she does one drug, she knows nothing will stop her from trying the next, and the next, and the next. She will damn herself to a life of addiction and craving, but she’d rather be stuck in the cycle of needing than the cycle of violence.

“I need water,” Sena tells Finn quietly. She can’t take pills dry. Finn gives her a pleading look, silently asking her to back out while she still can. Sena tilts her head, blinking up at him. “Can you get me some, please?”

How could Finn tell her no when she asks so nicely?

Her skin sticks to Elliot’s sheets as he presses his face in the crook of her neck, moaning into the moist skin as she digs her nails into his back. Having sex is weird now. It’s like she can barely feel it. She can’t tell if it’s the pills or the fact her mind never stops running at a speed that leaves her constantly dizzy, but either way, she wishes it would go away. Sena swallows as she stares up at Elliot’s ceiling, shutting her eyes to try and find some semblance of pleasure in this, but is left with nothing. That’s the worst part. She feels nothing.

Sena presses her face into Elliot’s shoulder, nails digging in harder into his skin to try and find some kind of feeling to cling to, but finds nothing except frustration. She lets out of a huff, throwing her head back on his pillows. Elliot lifts his head from her skin, shaggy brown hair covering his eyes until he shakes it away. His eyes are so kind, Sena thinks as she meets them with her own, but she quickly averts her gaze to the side. When she looks him in the eye, dread fills her body for some reason. That happens a lot now.

“You okay?” Elliot asks, a bit out of breath. Sena nods too quickly, making her curl her plush lips in, knowing he will question her further. Elliot tilts his head down at her, looking at her like a confused puppy.

“You sure, baby? You’re stiff.”

“Just tired,” Sena lies. It’s not technically a lie. She is tired, but that’s not what’s weighing on her. It’s not an easy thing to confess. Murder is heavily frowned upon by most people and is illegal. She can’t just confess to killing a man and how it weighs on her without, at the very least, getting a weird look. This isn’t a normal thing to go through, but none of Sena’s life has been normal. She sighs when he gives her an unconvinced look, rubbing her nose.

“I have a lot going on, El. It’s too much to get into when you’re inside me.”

“You could’ve told me that before I got inside you. We hung out for, like, an hour before this.”

Sena gives him an unamused look, only to be met with that dumb grin he always wears when he says something he knows is funny. She can’t stop herself from smiling, reaching up and smacking his cheek playfully, making him smile more. Elliot’s smile takes up his whole face, his top lip disappearing and eyes turning into crescent moons. It’s a beautiful sight that Sena treasures seeing, even if it isn’t a rarity. Elliot was always smiling or, at the least, grinning. He’s the happiest person she’s ever met. She figures she’d be happy too if she were Elliot Son. He’s handsome, he’s tall, he’s charming, and he’s talented. There’s nothing to be sad about when you’re Elliot Son.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Elliot asks, bringing one hand up to brush her hair from her face. Sena swallows the spit gathering in her mouth, running her hands over the expanse of his back. She looks at his adam's apple instead of his eyes, shaking her head. She can’t talk about it, especially with Elliot. Elliot talks. He talks a lot. Sena can’t trust him with something this big despite trusting him with her life. It’s not just about her this time. It’s about Chloe, and Yoonah, and Klara, and even Bliss. It’s about Hyojin and his grandmother, who begged Jinhwa to give her an answer as to where her grandson went. It’s so much more than her.

Sena takes a deep breath through her nose, shaking her head again.

“I can’t. I just…I just want to lay here for a little bit,” Sena says with another sigh, giving Elliot a pitiful look and silently pleading for him to drop it. Elliot, with a look of sadness gracing his usually cheerful face, nods slowly. His hand trails from her cheek down her neck. He runs down the curve of her body, dipping in with her waist and finding home on her waist.

His thumbs caress the skin, causing Sena’s eyes to fall to watch how his fingers hold and move against her flesh. She lets out a content hum, reaching up and rubbing his forearm. For a second, she feels at peace. Elliot’s thumb rubs against the pale skin over her ribs, pressing hard enough to feel the bones underneath. He leans down, placing a single kiss in the center of her chest with a slight hum of his own as he rests his forehead where his lips once were. It’s a nice, heavy, warm feeling, making Sena close her eyes to take in the bleak bliss that fills her senses. It’s the best she’s felt in months. She knows it’s half due to the pills in her system right now, but she ignores that, pretending it’s all Elliot, and this is how she’d feel sober.

Sena hasn’t been sober in months.

She knows it’s bad. She doesn’t care. It frightens her how little she cares about the full-blown addiction she’s acquired in just two short months.

Her fingers run through Elliot’s light brown locks, taking a slow breath at how soft they feel beneath her fingertips. Elliot slowly lifts his head to look down at her still beneath him, giving her a fond smile that makes Sena smile.

“I should pull out, shouldn’t I?” His casualness makes Sena laugh, hands dropping onto the mattress as giggles fall from her lips. She forgot they were having sex before this, technically during this conversation. She nods, still laughing.

“Yeah…Yeah, I’m not nutting anytime soon,” Sena laughs. Elliot shrugs, chuckling.

“My dick has actually gone soft, so!”

Sena groans at his joke, hitting his chest as more laughs spill from her lips.

She appreciates the normality of it all.

Let's talk Magneto's letter!

I'm not marking this as spoilers because we've probably all seen the panels from Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver floating around the internet at this point (but I do apologise if I do accidentally spoil it for someone - take this as your warning to scroll past and not read this post).

So after many months of speculation as to what the letter could be and if it has big reveals the contents of the letter is not a lore changing or retcon inducing reveal but .... Drum roll please.... that Magneto thinks the twins should stay apart, that they are dangerous together (particularly that Pietro is dangerous to Wanda and Wanda coddles Pietro) and that Pietro should have stayed dead after Magneto murdered him.

Jokes aside and let's get this out of the way because I know a lot of the Magneto is right crowd have been calling for Orlando's head over this character assassination or trying to argue Magneto is in fact right about the twins (despite the story and the twins themselves saying otherwise) - Magneto being an abusive douchbag to his kids is the norm, we only have 60 years of their relationship in the 616 verse alone to prove this. Yes there is nuance to this that makes it all very interesting, one of the most interesting dynamics in Marvel, and I personally never expected to hear Magneto saying the silent part out loud because I do think cannon shows that he loves all his kids Pietro included (but is incapable of loving them the way a parent should), but this is simply an over exaggeration and not out of character. Its no surprise he says this to his son. It's also of note that Magneto never actually intended for the twins to see the letter or Storm would have given it to Wanda when she visited in SW#2 to deliver the news of Magneto's passing, it might have been Magneto trying to work out some feelings and opinions rather than protect them as he claims (cause again he didn't actually intend for anyone to see the letter, he sealed it shut in a box). He is justified in feeling frustrated that his last words were weaponised against his children (lol Mags being like how dare my own hurtful words were used to hurt my kids - no one hurts them but me)

Magneto is one of those genderbended boymoms that is jealous of their daughter and views then as competition. Only in this case it is with his son and the competition is for Wanda's affections. The fact is, Magneto is always going to loose that fight and he knows it.

The more I think about it the more I like that this letter wasn't a big reveal (though I'm sure the recton everyone is hoping for will come some day -I'm glad it wasn't today) but something that played into the themes of this series. Their father, the Wizard and the Giver are all saying the twins should stay apart and the story and the twins say no and prove them wrong. A lot of the twins greatest feats are reactive and evolving, tying back to the red queen hypothesis mentioned in issue 4.

On a side note if the Giver really wanted to deal with the twins she should have gone to dear old daddy Mags and he would have nipped that problem in the bud in a jiffy seeing as he and the giver are of a like mind when it comes to the twins. Technically you just need to get rid of one of them seeing as the Givers worry is about the twins together but let's see what the new Scarlet Witch solo has to say about that (I hope Pietro's role in this isn't forgotten but you can never tell with Marvel)

What the letter is is a classic case of a narcissist parent setting up a golden child and scape goat dynamic. Seeking to isolate the twins from each other. It's very clear he's self projecting onto his son (and Lorenzo Tammetta deliberately emphasises the similaries the two have in appearance to drive this fact home) and blaming Pietro for moments that happened that can apply to himself and are in fact caused by his actions for example his willingness to abandon his daughter to die and murder of his son in HoM. Both the major trigger points for the creation of the HOM verse and no more mutants. I'm not saying Magneto is souly to blame here but he does have a big contribution to what happens that he never has taken accountability for (along with the X-Men who play as victims and the avengers who did own up to what they did but otherwise keep silent about the blame the twins get from the X-Men).

A lot has been said about the impact of the letter on Pietro and I don't think I can add much more other than to emphasise how crushing that has be to hear from a parent and abuser even if you hate them. The twins helped each other survive for a very long time and we're each others everything parent, twins, best friend, protector, etc. You've spent time and energy and dedicated a portion of your life to protecting someone to the degree of making it your reason for living for a long time (please note I am not saying this is a healthy mindset for Pietro- hes taken it too far sometimes) and in a hypocritical tyraid are told it's all for nothing. Pietro handles it really well and comes out this with his head held high. Reacting calmly, expressing his love for his sister and throwing Magneto's words back at him. I think as a Quicksilver fan we can be reasonably happy with this outcome (but I do understand some fans frustration to hear Quicksilver be degraded that way and told he's bad for Wanda while she gets forced to interact with men that did treat her like shit like Vision and Magneto - however the point is that Magneto is WRONG and Wanda herself reiterates this point).

Now the one person who's screwed over by the writing and out of character in that scene is WANDA. Sure she tells Magneto he is wrong but that gentle response (even if she does react with a degree of unhappiness to see Magneto back) and effort to be neutral is so odd for her given that she sent the Wizard to a hell dimension for hurting her brother a few pages prior and has been even more vocal than Pietro in calling her father out in the past. She's as protective of her brother as he is her and I can't believe she would be written as a daddies girl and standby while a man who abused them both continues to abuse her brother.

The contents of the letter is also not great for Wanda. And I would argue is a subtler abuse tactic. Like a lot of the focus is rightly on how shitty it was for Magneto to say what he did in his letter to Pietro but we're also not considering the the negative implications it has for Wanda as well. Wanda has been working to establish herself as independent and not defined by the men in her life for so long and here is her "father", infantalising her and saying he knows better than her about her own life and what keeps her safe, that is seeking to take away from her the one pillar of support she's always had and one of if not the important relationship to her, a lot of Wanda's lowest moments did happen when Pietro wasn't even around, when everyone including Magneto abandoned her, her brother was there. The twins do have a codependency and that codependency does have it's toxic elements, Magneto touches on it but doesn't go into detail. Wanda is codasended to and told she is "coddling" her brother and everything else is Pietro's fault. The letter is worse for Pietro but it's shitty for Wanda too, she is a grown woman& a mother here is a man that abused her talking down to her, saying he knows best for her and her opinions are wrong, seeking to isolate her and undermining her authority.

The twins are right for saying Magneto is wrong but wish Wanda would get more angry at this undermining. Maybe like Pietro she is just very jaded and tired of the whole thing with Magneto. These words would be upsetting if they didn't in their own way love their father too as fucked up as it all is.

Now to be fair - does Magneto's letter have any merit? That isn't to easy to answer but in the interests of equal analysis let's try!

So I think one think that Magneto touches on but doesn't go into or outright say is the twins codependancy. He is a few years late to the party but he's been dead and their not dad for a while so well give him a small amount of leeway in his old age. I don't think the twins codependency is necessary a wholly bad thing but it does have it's nagative elements and in some cases has held the twins back. If we are to adopt a charitable approach her Magneto in his own twisted and emotionally constipated way may be trying to encourage the twins to be independent, to discourage his son from defining his self worth around his ability to protect his sister. Ofc I am reaching a bit here as Magneto could have just said this (though we'll never see the full contents of the letter - both Wanda and Mags may be summerising the worst parts of it) and done so in a way that wasnt cruel.

I also do believe that Magneto in writing those words to a degree did believe or convinced himself that he was not writing those words out of Malice and that it was an attempt to protect the twins (though I will reiterate how much it was actually intended to protect them when Magneto didn't actually intend for the twins to see the letter but at least he owns up to the fact he did write those words). In his mind he was being cruel to be kind but the narrative makes it clear that even if he had "good" intentions - he is nevertheless still fundamentally misunderstanding his children and self projecting onto his son. I'm not mad about this -its in character and I feel this letter is set up for a longer plot thread and I hope it's explored but let's see!

It certainly makes me feel that Pietro's lack of mention in RoM was extremely deliberate as was his lack of appearance in last week's FoX issue despite his cameo in the previous one to save the Magneto and Pietro reunion for this comic (the Xoffice are collaborative)

Is the writing for this scene perfect? no! Is Magneto potentially a tad one note? Yes but being a dick to his kids is in character and it's unsubtle but sometimes it needs to be.
