Our newest resident! Moved in last week after Pietro left. He's still getting to know everyone, but so far is getting along super well with Bob - he and Zucker often have game nights and Genji loves it (Elvis is too old to stay up so late, and Marshall prefers to go drink with the girlies).

Genji is a total gym rat but not obnoxious at all - he's just super active. He and Fuchsia will work out together sometimes 🏋️

Amphibia Band AU Playlists

remember that poll i posted five million years ago about my amphibia playlists? no? well i finally remembered i did that, so here are the playlists, as well as some details about the band AU!

this is the entire 'discography' of the band, from all the albums they made.

this is the first album the girls made - Heartstomper! in the AU, Sasha, Anne and Marcy created a garage band called Sasha and The Sharps and played together often. eventually they were discovered and offered a record label, with Andrias Leviathan as their manager. Heartstomper was a rousing success, but unfortunately at this point the girls' relationship is pretty toxic. Sasha is very controlling, and writes most the songs herself, not letting Anne and Marcy have much input. this leads to the girls deciding to split after the end of the Heartstomper tour.

Sasha decided to go solo, splitting off from Andrias's management and writing her own album all by herself. this album is by far the longest, as Sasha became a little obsessed with the breakdown of her relationship with her friends, and spent a lot of time writing about it. at first many of the songs are very angry, but eventually she begins to realize she was also at fault for the breakup, and the later songs reflect this new understanding. the end of the album is almost an olive branch extended out to Anne and Marcy, asking for their forgiveness.

Anne and Marcy stayed signed with Andrias, becoming just The Sharps (as there was no longer a Sasha involved). with more creative freedom than Sasha used to allow them, they had a lot of fun writing the first half of this album. it has a very different sound to their previous album, with more folk music vibes. however, halfway through writing, Sasha dropped her solo album. the girls picked up on what Sasha was trying to say, but Anne was having none of it. the final half of the album is almost entirely written by Anne, and they are a lot more angry sounding. although Sasha was ready to try and repair things, Anne certainly was not. it ended up being Marcy who got them talking to one another again, after the end of the Curses tour.

after the girls joined together again, they decided to rebrand as The Calamity Trio. they also broke off from Andrias, realizing he was a terrible manager who was only in it for the money. the girls all had equal parts in writing this album, though Marcy's songs are especially prominent. with their rejoining, there are also some feelings being kindled between the three of them. however, all three are too nervous to say anything, worried about the tentative peace of their relationship. this album is an amazing success, and the newly reformed Calamity Trio is more popular than ever.

as they begin to write their fourth album, the girls finally admit their feelings to each other! (this one is my personal favorite). the songs are all about their feelings for each other, and how each of them is navigating this new relationship. at this point they are not publicly dating, but the sheer amount of pining in these songs makes a lot of fans speculate.

this album has a pretty specific theme; it's advertised as a 'blast from the past', with lots of songs in that more rock style than their past album. they also sing a lot about their pasts and their struggles, helping each girl personally make peace with themselves. now that they're older, they're able to look back on their past experiences more objectively, which makes for an incredible album. after this release, the Calamity Trio publicly come out as being in a relationship together!

i am super proud of these albums, and i've put a whole lot of effort into putting them together. i'd love if y'all would give some of them a listen! as well, i have extra details about almost all the songs, like which girl 'wrote' it, how the lyrics relate, etc. please feel free to send me some asks about the albums and songs, or just the AU as a whole! there's tons more i have to say, but i'm trying to keep this post relatively short.

but there you have it; the Amphibia Band AU! six albums altogether, as well as a massive playlist containing all of the songs for a very fun listening experience. seriously, this is my go-to roadtrip playlist; there's so many awesome songs to scream in the car! i'm also in the very very very beginning stages of yet another album, and if/when i finish that, i will post it here.

One day you guys met up after work and were walking around the city together, kinda in silence but not exactly because you'd point out something cute or funny once in a while and he'd chuckle occasionally.

You casually snaked your hand around his when you thought he hadn't noticed (but he did, and his face was literally burning red), rubbing your fingers over his calloused knuckles and humming a tune.

Reiner was too focused on how soft and warm your hand had felt against his, and how much his heart was beating and his face was sweating and god is it really that hot out—

You were focused on a pastry in a window, and you hadn't noticed a barrage of 12 year olds stampeding towards you two with a terrifying look in their eyes.

"REINER!"

A young girl slid in front of you two, pointing an accusing finger at Reiner as he grimaced down at her. A blonde—one that looked suspiciously like Colt Grice— followed behind her, along with a flat faced girl and another young boy with glasses.

"Y-you... You snake! How could you not tell me you have such a good looking fiance!"

"Fiance?" You ask, tilting your head at the man you've been seeing. Neither of you had labeled anything, so you were a bit confused about the jump from getting coffee together to being married.

"Yeah," The girl replies matter-a-factly, placing her hand on her hip. "When two people who are old like you and Reiner hold hands in public, it means you're going to get married eventually, so you're his fiance."

"They are not my fiance, Gabi," Reiner huffs out, steam coming from his ears as his face recovers from overheating due to embarassment. "They're just..."

"I'm just his partner," You cut him off, bringing the hand you were still holding to his chest. You bring your voice down to a whisper and look towards him. "If that's okay."

"That's... fine. Good, even."

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Reiner has a really warped perception of what love should look like because of his mother's one sided affection for his father, so I feel like he's prone to staying in toxic or dead end relationships just waiting for them to get better. He's also just really scared to be alone, and he feels like if he's opened up to someone he shouldn't leave them.

So it takes a lot for him to break up with someone that he's seriously involved with. Concern from his friends (esp Bertolt and Annie) does spur him in the direction of breaking up with someone, because he's a people pleaser at heart.

I think he'd be terrified to confront you in person, but also not enough of an asshole to break up with you over text, so he just bites the bullet and does it in person, through a ton of tears and a bit of a breakdown. If you try to talk him through it he might honestly stay, no matter how terrible you've been to him, just because he can't be alone.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Even though he's quite closed off, he's kind of deeply in need of love. So I think he'd say it rather quickly once you guys get together. The minute he feels like he's able to open up to you, he's going to say that he loves you. But he'd only open up to you once he falls for you and makes things official. But it'd take him a long time to make things official. Confusing, I know.

Saying "I love you" fills him up with a warm feeling. It's like a sort of affirmation for him, if he reminds you how much he loves you, you'll love him back. Or that someone like him is even deserving of loving someone like you.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Reiner is plagued by nightmares and insomnia, so he doesn't get much sleep.

He still likes to lay in bed with you, though. He finds it really calming and it gives him enough rest.

Sometimes, if he's really bored, he'll casually sneak out of your bed and scroll through photos of the two of you on the balcony.

He prefers staying over at your place, because Karina is... Karina. She is super overbearing and kind of rude to you, so he needs that peace of mind and space away from her. Your bed is his safe haven, in a way.

as u can see... all of the kids were basically named after allen... they all had ‘al’ names.... extremely confusing 

plot-twist: THAT’S the darkest part

the adams were very concerned with public image. as a family in the upper echelon, they simply had to be! a narcissist father, a distant mother, put in competition with her siblings — there was no truly healthy dynamic in the household. but they looked good. they went to church every sunday, a ‘wwjd’ sticker on the back of her mother’s car. they did just enough activities and took just enough trips together to get the image across. they threw parties. they attended parties. they were the picture perfect american family — they even had two cats in the yard! life used to be so hard! 

of course, in reality, this all left ms alice quite the lonely gal. but don’t worry! she didn’t turn to hedonism! lord no! instead, she turned to other people. a lot of friendships — couldn’t tell if they were real or #fortheclout — but at a point, did it matter? 

grooming tw: it all came to a screeching halt when she met luke johnson, the son of their neighbors. he came back from california to georgia to visit family, care for his ailing father. oh, he was a good man! sure, he was ‘somewhat’ older than her — 27 when she was 16 — but he was such a good, handsome young man! and they were all still calling him young man, after all. 

alice ‘began’ a torrid affair with luke after about a month into his visit. although she saw no immediate wrong in it, he insisted she keep it a secret ‘for the time being’ — which really just made it all the more exciting! he made all the storm clouds that hovered disappear.

one day, the levee broke for alice (still figuring out what exactly happened because i don’t wanna go too dark since this is already extremely dark, but trust that it had something to do with her parents and was just enough to push her over the edge). convinced luke was the only safe person, she turned to him. knowing their small community would catch on and essentially exile him, he took that opportunity to convince her to go back to santa monica with him where they could ‘start anew’ after his father’s death.

there are a few details i plan on adding regarding like. how legality playing into it. but i may just reserve those for an official bio lhakfsdfj

**BEGINNING OF SUPER DARK** for a while, there was the question of whether they should consider it a kidnapping or not. she went with him willingly, but she was still underage (and… you know, that age difference… the power dynamic... gross y’all). the adams insisted that it was (bc it basically was lbr) — primarily because it would make them look far better — but the community still questioned the logistics and legalities of it all… ugh. did the police really wanna deal with that? ugh. 

in any case, on the other side of us america, autumn was nearing. alice would have the very occasional inquiry over how school would work (very occasional! don’t worry, luke!), over the logistics of her new life… and, after receiving multiple calls from various friends (in addition to her siblings) that sounded genuine, began wondering… if she’d made the right choice. questions about him.

when she began bringing up the idea of going back — at least for the school year!! — he would continuously remind her that she was not old enough to buy herself a plane ticket (and he was not about to do that). she also couldn’t rent a car yet (and he certainly wouldn’t let her take (one of) his car(s)!). but most importantly? he loved her. and she loved him. (what a creep!)

so, for a hot second, it seemed like she was stuck. damn legalities!! damn love!! you know, until she texted her older sister back with all of the problems that only being 16... and “in love”.... caused. her sister offered to fly down, buy her a plane ticket, and fly back with her. 

when luke saw this (with all the unrestricted access to her phone he had so he could block, delete, and manipulate as he pleased), he confronted her. things went awry. she wound up in his budding wine cellar (which he soon emptied, of course… those merlots :( ….). he messaged back and, as her, said it was actually all good!! luke had figured out the logistics and she could call whenever she wanted!!

and those calls became frequent! because she would pick up when luke held it up to her! because she was pretty sure luke would kill her if she didn’t!

she wasn’t sure how long it was until she was officially Found. it took what was ruled a suicide by luke, a shot to the head and heroin in his system, to finally get any authority’s attention. all she knew was that she went to santa monica in mid june and she stopped seeing regular daylight by late july. so some time in august to some time in april… **END OF SUPER DARK + GROOMING**

she was returned to georgia shortly after and everything was different. from herself to her friends. but everything was also the same. from her room to her family. it was all… teasing. she began going to therapy, but she really sucked at it?? so she just let her therapist rely on various articles that covered the event. because it had been a media circus. good enough, amirite?? 

she didn’t have the will or patience to put on that peppy facade she’d had before, but there were still a few things she found a smidge of joy in. music (although her taste had… slightly altered and wow! it’d been almost a year since she’d picked up that bass!), videography… just those small things, you know?? 

for the first half of the ~ 2014 fall semester ~, she attempted actual school. really was not working out. with, for probably the first and only time, her parents’ approval and understanding, she dropped out and studied for a ged -- shorter and self-led -- instead. 

she passed with a pretty decent grade... but it’s been argued that she really shouldn’t have gotten into pratt institute (she was at least realistic and didn’t apply to, like… cornell), but she did. national news helps. 

while in the concrete jungle where dreams are made of, she learned of masters. she submitted an application as a joke — because her grades sucked!!!!! — but guess who got a job?? oh, she could pretend it was because her selected portfolio was actually genuinely good… but, man… we all know…

fun fact: my uncle applied to harvard as a joke. some twenty-five years later, we still haven’t heard back :\

she… continues to suck. like… she kinda wants the place to eventually burn down?? figuratively speaking (or is it…) but ya, for all the monopolizing she has seen turn people Evil?? but the hell can she do about it… just gotta make sure she keeps her in-house videographer job… maybe she can do something about it when she like… is capable. fuaihoelwdjkn

she sees an in-house therapist and i’d say ‘good for her,’ but it was mandated l m a o

(consult above trigger list): bright kid in a super rich and toxic family because obviously. everything they did was just to look good <3 also they all had ‘a’ names which is the biggest tragedy of all :( ‘fell in love’ when she was 16ys/o with a 27y/o who was visiting to care for his father in his final days. had a torrid affair. creep. creep (luke) basically made her ‘fall in love.’ she thought creep was the only safe person at one point and creep was like ‘wanna go back 2 santa monica w me?’ and she was like ‘yes.’ and everyone was like ‘was this kidnapping... we cant tell....’ then he became even more possessive when she started questioning him and some logistics. when she finally found a way she could go back to georgia for a spell, he was like ‘no u can go in my wine cellar btw i will be taking all of the wine out.’ he kept her there from august to april and... only reason he didnt keep keeping her was bc he was Caught so. back to georgia where the devil went down. everything was Worse. even the things that were the same. but hey, the sob story that landed her in the news plenty of times got her into a college she shouldn’t have gotten into and gave her a leg-up in a joke application for a job at masters (in-house videographer). really bad at doing her work but like... fuck the man i guess?? 

PERSONALITY + HEADCANONS:

has no time for Fake Nice (which, as a born southerner, she’s really good at sniffing out!). has no time for arrogance. kind of makes her at odds with the nyc upper class...

on that note, still got a lil bit of some georgia twang

she lets herself indulge in various vices, but has left a previous hedonist status. weed and alcohol are still pretty common, but everything else is kept at arm’s length.

also, while on that topic, she Does Not drink wine. being trapped in a cellar... kinda makes u averse. like. literally despises it. will go on autopilot and make it KNOWN if offered wine.

also ALSO while on that topic, after looking it up and seeing she fits the new york city requirements, she has a medical marijuana card <3 the one good thing, if u ask her, to come out of therapy/psychiatry <3 will not show it off unless absolutely NECESSARY bc then it gets personal or <3 will lie about why and say it’s like for epilepsy or sumn unless ur rolfe but <3 she has it <3

at odds with herself. enjoys the company of others, definitely has a history of being an extrovert, but has become very selective with the company she keeps.

I think I like the idea of Wu being older than Mako because of that idea that this guy with a few more years of life experience is so much more immature than Mako, because of their completely different upbringings. Show that contrast between their lives, that younger Mako is more mature than Wu. (I’m speaking about a couple of years at most, so it wouldn’t be extreme.)

I know it could make Wu seem unbelievably immature and honestly creepy, but the thing about Wu, when he’s flirting with women, he invaded their privacy and is rude, but there’s the strong impression it’s all talk and no action— Wu is just acting this way because he can, and to an extent that’s how he thinks he should act.

Honestly a really sucky interpretation I have seen to critique book 4’s ending is ‘oh Korra (and Asami) were selfish to go on vacation just after Kuvira attacked Republic City when RC needs them’ when, really:

- Republic City does not rest squarely on Korra’s shoulders. Republic City can cope for a few days, a week, without Korra. It will not fall apart.

- Korra and Asami likely were around for the aftermath of the attack! Do you think Varrick’s wedding occurred a day after the attack!? Other than wanting the finale to take place at a wedding, it’s probably the reason that no-one had a heart-to-heart until the wedding, they were too busy.

- Korra and Asami have been through so much shit. Korra’s recovering from severe trauma. Korra being gone for three years was not a vacation, she was in recovery and had PTSD. Likewise, Asami literally watched her father die. She’s hurting too. They deserve a break. They deserve that vacation. They are not just work horses for Republic City to abuse. Korra and Asami are allowed to have a happy ending! Especially after everything that happened! Honestly, it’s probably sensible to take time off when they did— they could get burntout, especially emotionally. Let them realise their relationship together!

- And I have issues with the comics but when Korra and Asami get back they get involved with city recovery! It’s not like they don’t care. They’re literally involved. They just took a few days off.

This has always just struck me as an insane petty argument to dismiss Korra for being ‘OOC’ and nitpick the finale for... something. What do they want Korra to do, never take a break!? I just... come on.

I really like the idea that Bolin after holding a relationship for a few years decides he’s like, super mature and wise now in the ways of love, and now he can be the older brother and protect Mako when he’s dating. So if Bolin meets someone Mako is dating he’d grill the love interest and say ‘what are your intentions with my brother?’ And ‘you better treat him right’ and Mako just dies in the background.

Like I love Bolin realising that Mako took care of him so well but Mako didn’t have anyone to take care of him so he just decides to overcompensate in their twenties and ends up just being really embarrassing.

Anyway I think this could work with any pairing but here is the wuko version of this meeting.

Hi Elle! I used to follow you on your old mega-popular tumblr. I really love your new one. :) I know that you've lived in a "super spiritual" community for several years now (not sure if you want me to publicly say the place). What is the community like? Is it more bad than good? What are some strengths and weaknesses of the place/people? Thank you! I've heard mixed things and really respect your insights.

Haha I knew I would get this question one day! If I could title my response, it would be, "Why I've Chosen to Keep My Distance from the New Age Community in the American Southwest." I info-dump and write novels, so get ready! =)

I think there is something to be said for defining things neutrally for yourself overall. Fortunately, I've been able to easily do that in this instance due to: 1. Being introverted and not "needing" a big community experience and 2. Having wonderful friends all over the globe that I am able to interact with all throughout my year. With that being said, if I am being 100% honest and real with you, I truly believe that the new age community where I am is more toxic than good. Here is why. I will have a positive note at the end.

A quick preface: I am not calling out any particular individual(s) and will not be naming names.... quite frankly, there are just too many and I'm not here to humiliate people. Secondly, these traits can take place in ANY community, spiritual or otherwise. But these are things that I feel a spiritual community should be more self-aware of... and sadly right now, they are not.

********ATTENTION: There is a big content and trigger warning here: There will be mentions of sui****, sexual *******, and gaslighting/narcissism, terfs, eating disorders, and other things that could be very upsetting. Proceed with caution and stop reading if you find yourself getting stressed, triggered, or deeply upset.*********

1. Malignant narcissism and community insulation from constructive criticism. I have never seen such a ubiquitous display of malignant narcissism in all my life in a collective, save for some conservative Christian environments in my growing up years. Go onto almost any youtube channel for the Sedona community and you will see very few negative comments… why? (And I have watched this for a long time) Almost ANY criticism of anyone’s channel or blog is instantly removed. There was a time when people who simply noted that some of these small “influencers” were saying toxic things were sent cease and desist letters. The community is very tight knit and displays many marks of a cult. One of these indicators is that they all protect each other and hype each other up on their channels and blogs, while labeling ANY criticism (healthy or not) as someone who is being “triggered.” The younger part of the community cares about looking perfect and having everyone worship them, but has very little spiritual substance. It’s always about who did the alien thing “before it was cool” or “who can do a backflip off of a steep cliff without breaking their neck because their synchronicity is on point.” One youtuber said once that she only wanted to hang out with “pretty” people because they were purer expressions of the divine. The older generation expresses narcissism by assuming they know more than everyone else. Good luck having a conversation on controversial topics with any of them. They are right, you are wrong. If you argue, you are “triggered” and “seeking for truth.” If you don't believe that there are reptilians on the moon with a secret base, you've drunk the kool-aid. Not a good environment to foster open sharing and knowledge. The men have a particular problem with this when it comes to topics of sex and intimacy. If you are a woman and don’t want to “surrender” to your partner (in a lot of vague and unclear ways), you are out of alignment with the divine feminine. Most of the men believe that they should be allowed to "hunt" (look for sexual partners/spiritual twin flames) and that women should do everything in their power to be softly feminine so that they can sync up and recognize each other's souls.

2. A full denial of science and medicine. Look, I get it. We all want to solve our own medical dilemmas and use herbs to cure all ills. I try to solve any (non life threatening) health issues I have the “natural” way first too… often, I have great success! The problem comes when the community rejects all western medicine, most science (that doesn’t affirm their beliefs) and any medical opinion that has… actually been to a real medical school. There is a strong anti-vaccination movement coupled with the belief in using yoni eggs religiously and doing colonics every week (though science tells us this isn’t a great idea overall). I used a different type of yoni egg for awhile to see what would happen, but trust me, your pelvic health is going to be better without them. You will be judged harshly for going to a “mainstream” doctor to get antibiotics for a serious infection and will most likely be gaslit into oblivion regarding “what you did to attract” your infection etc.

I have midwifed for many years now and have extensive “mainstream” training to be able to do this legally. Once, I was working with another midwife on a mother who was having her first baby. The laboring woman had an ideal birth in mind like most people do. Long story short, I discerned while she was laboring that the baby was in intense distress and that the mother was displaying very concerning signs of a life-threatening condition. When I insisted on calling an ambulance and getting the woman to the hospital, the other midwife said that I was interfering with nature. I explained simply that if we didn’t get said woman to a hospital, the baby would most certainly die and the mother’s life would hang in the balance. Her response was that: “Some babies don’t deserve to live and I shouldn’t invite karma by interfering with nature’s course.” I called an ambulance anyway and the mother was taken for an emergency c-section. The mother was very disappointed about not being able to follow her birth plan. However, after the birth (she and baby ended up being okay thank goodness) she sat down with me personally and thanked me for making the decision I did. She said that one of the doctors explained that if I had waited another hour, both she and the baby would be dead. Apparently, this other “midwife” had also had her license revoked a year before for endangering a different laboring person and child. This sounds like a stand-alone freak incident, but I can cite 15-20 other situations just like this one where life-threatening emergencies were viewed as opportunities for good karma and growth… and that western medical intervention would invite bad karma.

Regarding science, if you point to the fact that jade yoni eggs are likely to cause an infection, most of the new age community will scoff and say that they don’t trust science (the logic being that science once explained volcanos as angry gods or something and now cannot be trusted overall). If you don't wear blue-blocking glasses anytime you look at a screen, apparently you've already succumbed to mind control. You get my point… It’s so bad that the new age community is willing to endanger people’s lives and place the blame on the victims for being out of alignment with synchronicity. This one bullet point could be talked about for hours.

3. A lack of discernment and victim blaming. Many have heard about Bentinho Massaro and his crew from that time when they swept through Sedona a couple years ago. The core of the Sedona community started blindly following him… some of them wanted to boost their online platforms by being associated with a well-known figure. Others wanted a guru… and others were just curious and got sucked in by his charisma. All one had to do was google him. He has allegations of physically beating his followers, gaslighting people, torturing animals in his childhood, and ignoring the fact that an alarming number of his followers commit suicide. With all of this knowledge at our fingertips, the popular new age “influencers” went so far as to get in polyamorous relationships with him, validate his platform, and gaslight people who, sadly, committed sui**** because of certain things he said in his teachings. It was insane. Now, many of the people who followed him try to pretend it never happened or that they had no part in it. Many of them claim to have “gifts of the spirit” and to have stellar discernment.

One of the people who got into a polyamorous relationship with this person did an Instagram post where she basically said that if someone is being r*ped they should show their attacker love and surrender to what is happening so that they could experience unconditional love and come back to the "light." I honestly couldn’t believe what I was reading at first when I saw it. The part that was heartbreaking was when I read the comments and watched people (not just women and men) berate themselves for “fighting” while something terrible happened to them in the past. A few of them were teenagers. I made it a point to personally message the ones I was able to, and thankfully, a good number did respond positively. This exact issue has occurred on youtube channels, blogs, and in-person encounters. I’m just citing ONE online instance of this horrible, misaligned belief. Keep in mind that the person who did this post abandoned her disabled child with a family she barely knew to pursue a sexual relationship with Bentinho.

4. TERFS/anti-LGBTQ/anti-feminism. This falls under the categories of relationships, sex, autonomy, and social issues, but expands into much more overall.

A chain of videos came out a couple years ago where about 5 women in the new age community each did a presentation on what was wrong with the “divine feminine” these days. They were saying that women had been erased because they were not conforming to gender roles or seeking out conscious relationships. They all referenced that “women are angry” and basically said it was wrong for women to feel this way and that angry female energy was throwing our whole environment out of balance and even contributing to global warming somehow. They empathized with toxic people/men/known violent incels and said that women needed to get over their traumas and be more available for the divine masculine to show up. They dehumanized women by saying they shouldn’t be expressing anger, glossed over sexual a******, and blocked everyone in the comments who took a stand against what they were saying. The general consensus is that feminists are just angry women who need to get over their trauma.

Many people in the new age community also believe that if you incarnate in a particular body with certain biological parts, you incarnated that way for a reason. Changing it extensively is to erase “the spiritual lessons you were supposed to learn.” Basically, they stand against trans people, nonbinary people, gender nonconforming people… etc. I can go deeper with this if you want, but that is the gist of it without writing a novel within a novel.

Most of them take an active stance against intersectional feminism and use exclusive language to shut out anyone who doesn’t conform to the binary. A few of them are more passive-aggressive about how they do this: refusing to show any support for the LGBTQUIA+ community or mention social issues at all, even when someone is pointing out that they did something hurtful or offensive.

5. Appropriating Indigenous cultures and using past lives as an excuse. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard a white new age person say that something is their “spirit animal” or seen one wear Native American/indigenous headdresses to tight-knit community events, citing that they were “Native American” in their past life and that they are entitled to use these symbols, items, and cultural lexicons because of it. (Not that this is the main point… but they tell trans people that they shouldn’t be trans or insinuate that people should conform to the gender binary because they incarnated in a body type for a reason… but make an exception for themselves culturally? Super hypocritical.)

A couple of “woke” guys from the new age community walked around for awhile saying that the Hopi had adopted them into their “tribe” and that the were given Hopi names. I spoke to a few Hopi people about what was happening and they were shell-shocked. That is not something that they do for one thing, and for another, they had never even heard of these people! Thankfully, the behavior stopped after the two men were confronted about it, but this kind of thing happens all the time in various ways. There is a new age store here with a racial slur in the title… bring it up to the owner and she’ll kick you out and launch a smear campaign. Tell one of the white new age women that just because she studies “different traditions” doesn’t mean it’s okay to do rain dances or perform indigenous rituals (Native American, Australian, and others) without permission and they’ll blacklist you. I think many of the new agers operate within this Trojan horse of “I want to accept and validate all cultures”, but do not actually care at all about indigenous voices, feelings, or opinions. Many of them talked a lot about collective trauma in our nation during Black Lives Matter, but wouldn’t actively support it in any way themselves.

6. Let’s talk about mental health. This could go under the science and medicine label, but I think it deserves its own paragraph. Boy is mental health stigmatized in the new age Sedona community…. Real mental health professionals are painted as people who just want to “drug” you and keep you controlled. People with mental health struggles are instantly blamed. “Hell is just a state of mind, you need to change your mind,” is a phrase I have heard more often than not. Ancestral healing, umbilical healing, and random reiki sessions are somehow supposed to take the place of a licensed counselor.

A huge chunk of the “spiritual” community supported a pseudo-therapist who (without any scientific basis) was preaching that any woman who wasn’t sure if she wanted to have children or not by the age of 25 was toxic and needed to be ostracized because “something is wrong there.” A bunch of people believed it and re-posted/shared the teaching.

Another instance occurred where an unlicensed “hypnotherapist” without so much as a bachelor’s degree in anything was using questionable methods to hypnotize clients. During one session a person experienced a severe PTSD flashback and panic attack. She was not brought out of the hypnotherapy session properly or cared for. She ended up having a mental breakdown and having to spend time in the hospital. The charlatan who was treating her said that the client was willfully unresponsive to treatment and refused to confront her demons…

Anyone who is on anxiety medication, anti-depressants or anything else to support their well-being and mental health will be judged aggressively and most likely verbally confronted at some point if they are open about being on medication. The charlatans will throw essential oils into your space saying that they can cure anything. Others will try to get someone to talk to a new age leader in the “inner circle” and attempt to persuade the client that western therapists/psychologists just want to drug people and ignore the spiritual cause of unrest. They’ll cite earthing, crystals, vaginal wands, special teas, dietary habits, and color therapy as causes and answers to everything…. All while regarding victims of sui**** as unfortunate souls and lost causes etc.

7. A summary. I need to sum up other issues here quite quickly or I’ll be typing all day. XD Many of the women here are terrified of gaining weight or looking older. They hide behind the thinning veil of “health and veganism” to justify their worrisome habits to feel sexually appealing to supposedly “woke” men. Disordered eating and terror of eating one granule of processed sugar permeates the consciousness. You can be judged for anything from buying pokemon cards to eating legumes…. of all things. Most of the men are sexual predators who prey on younger women, rely on narcissism as a personality type, and don’t let anyone get a word in edgewise when their opinions are challenged. Many of the women validate these behaviors and blame themselves when they get hurt citing “spiritual growth” as a silver lining to cure all traumas. I would say that 95%+ of the people in the community present a perfect picture of themselves online while having crumbling relationships and failing inner lives. You might see a post or video about “conscious uncoupling” of a spiritual "power couple" and then find out later that someone was in a relationship with a narcissistic predator or was experiencing physical abuse. Sadly, many of the victims gaslight themselves in the uncoupling announcement. Many people here are predators in other ways… they might launch a health business that uses essential oils to replace therapy. There are con artists all over the place who can range from simply overpricing their wares in alarming ways to trying to entrap people in “business contracts” that devastate their lives. I have had personal UFO experiences here and do personally think that extraterrestrial life exists, but I would NEVER try to manufacture a fake experience… One of the UFO tour guides was having people hide out in the desert and flash lights into the sky while people on the tour wore special glasses. Then she was charging an arm and a leg to channel “spiritual messages” from the e.t.s for her clients and saying that if they didn’t receive the message, something bad would happen to them. This is the fluffiest and lightest post I could possibly do to communicate how bad it is in the “spiritual community” here. This is only the tip of the iceberg.

The good news? Sedona is so much more than a toxic new age community. It is GORGEOUS and it does have many good, healthy/normal people here. =) I have had such a beautiful experience in this place and can’t say enough good things about it. I have easy access to healthy foods, endless nature to explore and bask in, and a growing community of people who call the new age community out on its toxicity. I read what I want, play Animal Crossing without blue-blocker glasses, regularly enjoy going to listen to goth music at my preferred venue (I’ve been demonized for this lol), and eat what makes me feel good. My partner and I have had a beautiful and successful relationship for nearly a decade now and create amazing memories every day. We have good friends all around the world… and I have a solid, BIG group of academic colleagues/friends locally who DO ethically cite their sources and contribute positively to science and higher learning. If you’re into paleontology like me, you are in fossil heaven! =D If you love astronomy or astrophysics, we’re in a dark sky city! There are so many cool things to do from playing in LOTR-worthy waterfalls, to sampling delicious vegan creations, to playing DnD on red rocks with your friends while a *real* UFO passes by overhead. Get yourself a smoothie and organic wrap from one of our incredible food trucks and drive out into the desert while listening to Nightvale with your love or your friends. =)

If you ever want a list of must-do’s while visiting, let me know. I’ve got your back! The point is that I just harped on the negative above, but the good news is that you can completely avoid all of the junk. Keep it or scrap it when it comes to the Sedona new age community? I say scrap it. But you can still pursue your spiritual interests in healthy ways here while enjoying all the yummy creature comforts that the Verde Valley has to offer. I hope this helps and if just one person comes here and has a safe experience because of my thoughts, then every moment I’ve spent writing this was worth it. =) <3

All the problems with HSMTMTS:

I keep getting asked question on what happened in the fandom, and what is going on against all of the s*xual assault allegations against J*shua and T*m. This is going to be the post where I lay out all that I know of and inform the tumblr fandom on it because not all of you are on Twitter, and Tumblr is literally the heaven amongst fandoms. After this post, I’m DONE talking about this show and being apart of this toxic group. Along with talking about the s*xual assault allegations, I will also be addressing the issues during the BLM movement and other crap that not only the cast and crew have been a part of, but also the fandom itself. Let’s dig in.

Sidenote: I really don’t want any hate, I’m just trying to be open with you guys and inform you all. Also, I’m doing my best to remember everything, so if there is something that you want to know more on then please just message me personally cause I’m seriously SICK of discussing it publicly.

Not eveything in the fandom is due to JUST the cast and crew. This fandom is FULL of very toxic and creepy people.

A few months ago, someone (a grown women) who was overly obsessed with Olivia hacked into her grandfather’s account to turn it into a fan page to get undercover information on Olivia, as well as getting information on where Olivia lived. This grown women has also done some other seriously inappropriate things. If you want to learn more about the sketchy things that this women has done than you can go to Twitter and look it up.

There are always ship wars in fandoms, but this one takes it WAY too seriously. I’ve seen people get attack on their looks just for being a part of a ship. The ones that are heavily abusive are Rina vs Rini, Seblos vs CJ, and redlyn vs Redky. It has cause people to leave the fandom due to how bad the attacking got. On Tumblr, everyone’s pretty open about ships, but on twitter it is a literal battle field.

Disgraceful people still continue to ship the actors instead of the characters. J*livia and J*fia is what I’m going to talk more closely about. (First, josh is a grown adult and both Sofia and Olivia are minors, please unfollow me if you don’t see anything wrong with that). Sofia had to delete a few of her tik toks after one with Joshua went viral and people wouldn’t stop shipping her and him in her comments. Like one video she did, the caption was “I want a boyfriend” and people assumed they were dating and wouldn’t stop tagging him in her videos. As for Olivia, people have been shipping them since the beginning of the show. Fan accounts on all platforms have dedicated their time to this. I don’t necessarily remember if Sofia or Olivia came out saying that they were uncomfortable when they got shipped with their cast mates, but it started causing drifts between the actors because of this and Joshua wasn’t featured in any of Sofia’s videos after that and Olivia didn’t post as much as she use to with him. It goes to show that shipping actors makes things awkward and strained within their personal relationships. DONT DO THIS!

A person stating that they were friend’s with Olivia came out to expose Joshua of being a bad boyfriend after she tells everyone that Olivia and Joshua has been secretly dating during the press tour of HSMTMTS. There was clever evidence that showed they were dating and the girl came out with multiple receipts, and even went so far as to go on Instagram live to speak on the matter. But she then came out stating that it was false and she only wanted some attention. Apparently she was a j*livia stan. I can’t find anything on twitter about it anymore, since I’m pretty sure eveything was deleted. This can ruin people’s careers and I don’t know why anyone could think it’s okay. 

There are genuinely a lot of creepy adults that roam around in the HSM fandom. On twitter, there would be grown adults writing in detail how the kissing scene between Joshua and Olivia made them feel. People continue to post the gif of Nini and Ricky kissing and write out why it’s so important to them. People have taken that kissing scene and literally turned it into nasty and inappropriate sm*t on AO3 and Wattpad. Note once again that these characters are minors and it’s NEVER okay to write inappropriate stories about children. Grown adults need to be held accountable for their actions if this is how they’re acting.

Some parts of the fandom genuinely hate on both Sofia and Olivia for literally nothing. Just jealousy between their ships, and because of it, they think it’s okay to to personally attack the actresses on their looks and where they are in there careers. People continuously pin Olivia and Sofia against each other, like for example people bashing Olivia for not being as successful as Sofia, or Sofia being bashed because she doesn’t have the same singing career as Olivia. It’s once again, DISGUSTING!

This one is more about Disney and then not doing their part. Disney cut out the majority of Seblos’ scenes, which caused a lot of turmoil within the fandom and why Seblos felt unattached and awkward while they were together in all of their scenes after the dance episode. People called out Disney and said they they shouldn’t have put Seblos in if they weren’t going to go full out with it.

Onto the cast and the crew:

Kate (miss Jenn) got a lot of hate for exposing that Frankie (Carlos) and Joe(Seb) are in an actual real life relationship without asking them for their consent to tell the world. Don’t know whether they had spoken about them being in a relationship or not, but Kate didn’t speak on it after that either.

A video came out a few days ago of the cast taking cast pictures during their tour, and Mark (Mr. Mazzara) was standing beside Sofia in which it looks like his hand was rubbing Sofia’s lower back, and she seemed uncomfortable. I’m not sure if it’s a stretch or not because the video is super blurry and it’s hard to kind of see their faces, but you can clearly see his hand go behind her back. Personally for me, I didn’t notice anything too alarming, but you’d have to see for youself. I won’t be posting that and instead you can dm me personally and I’ll send you the link to the video.

A past comment of Joshua’s was exposed in which he is saying the F slur. #joshuabassettisoverparty was trending world wide on Twitter, with people wanting him off the show. He has apologized for it since then, but not many ever forgave him and it was just really his young girl audience that came to his defense, even though it wasn’t their apology to forgive. People that only stan him because he is a cute cis white male didn’t see the problem in what he had said, and kept saying that he was young and that it’s not a reason for us to hate on him, but he was only 17 when he said that, and it’s no excuse. Personally to me, his apology was super bland and he didn’t address it personally on his Twitter, but instead replied to a post saying he’d do better. Here’s what he had said:

Joshua also went on a live in which he said “boys, gals, or whatever” People accused him of being transphobic and enbyphobic. Others think that his words were being blown out of proportion. Here is that video:

I found it to be very ridiculous and rude that he doesn’t follow anybody on twitter or tik tok. On a live video, Julia said something about him not following her, and he just says that he doesn’t follow anybody and she shouldn’t take it personally. Honestly not that big of a deal, but it’s still shows pitifullness and arrogancy. Don’t know what his contract looks like with whatever agency he’s with, but maybe they’re just strict on that, but idk.

People hate on Matt (EJ) for being republican. He hasn’t done anything problematic or said anything out of offense, so for me he’s good. UPDATE: Turns out, Matt is friends with Benjamin Lawson Adams, a convicted pedophile. Here’s a brief statement in what happened:

He worked for the Weinstein company, so no surprise there. His arrest happened in May 2016, and his license was suspended to practice Law in July of 2018. If Matt knew what was best for him, he would stop having any and all associations with this dude.

That’s all I can think of on situations not regarding the s*xual assault allegations or the BLM movement. But there’s probably so much I’m missing. I’m going to make a part 2, cause the next half is too long to post here as well. I’ll label it #exposinghsmtmts so others are able to see it.

Hailey Upton: Character Study Post-crossover

After watching the FBI/Chicago PD crossover this morning, I have some interesting thoughts about the character of Hailey Upton, who I am very much in favor of as a character, so if you don’t like her, you might not want to read.

Timing is Everything: Hailey & External Factors

Personally, Hailey’s (and to an extent, Tracy’s) “polarizing” label that isn’t really deserved but people do it anyway. The problem isn’t the character, or the actress, the problem is just that she’s gotten kind of crappy timing in many ways. When she arrived on chicago pd, she came on the heels of Sophia Bush’s exit, a character that a lot of people loved and shipped furiously with Jay. I started watching for Hailey not gonna lie so I’m not super attached to Erin or Sophia. I got the impression that some people (not everyone) didn’t like her because Hailey is very unapologetic, and looks very similar to Erin. She was very clearly the person meant to replace Erin, so people started assuming things about her character that were kind off-base, and the crossover (in my mind) proves that a little bit.

From what I saw on Twitter, the FBI fandom seemed very enthusiastic about Hailey’s character, even though the situation is pretty similar to the Erin/Hailey dynamic. Tracy stepped in for another established, liked character (Maggie) while the actress who plays her is on maternity leave. The difference, which explains the lower levels of toxicity, is that there is an assurance there that Hailey will not be staying, and that she is not a replacement, just a guest. 

Even though she did clash with OA, people were willing to stay for her side of the story. Now, the people on Twitter might just be the vocal fans of the FBI show, but I think that shows that a lot of the tension with Hailey’s character comes from a) her strong personality and b) the fact that she came in at a very tense time in the Chicago PD fanbase.

Back to the Beginning, by Going on Another Show

I don’t know if I’m the only one who noticed this, but Hailey was on fire in this episode, honestly more so than I’ve seen in many of the episodes on Chicago PD. Don’t get me wrong, I love her in every episode she’s in, but you could tell that the writers really took the time to do her character justice.

She was fierce and sassy and determined and everything I remember her being in her very first episode. This crossover was basically a reset for her, which is what I think Voight wanted, and maybe even the writers too. I’d noticed in CPD episodes prior that she started to lose some of the qualities she started out with. It’s hard to name what they were, but she was becoming too much of a mini-Voight.

Personally, even though she definitely didn’t completely play by the FBI’s usual playbook here, she wasn’t Voight-like here. Yes, she threatened to break someone’s arm, and yes, her interrogation tactics were definitely not ones that I think the FBI show usually talks about, but she did everything by the book, just with her own twist. And I think that’s why Voight was drawn to her in the first place, when he brought her onto the team. 

At the beginning of her character arc on Chicago PD, she was very by-the-book, but not in the conventional sense. She knew how to get things done the right way, and stopped at nothing to do so. She knew where the lines were and toed them when she needed to but never let cases compromise her morals, and rarely let emotions cloud her judgement. 

This hadn’t happened on Chicago PD for a while. Coming to the FBI and being reminded that there are lines and other ways to get cases done really brought her character to where it should have always been, which in turn made her an even more dynamic character to watch.

Also, side note, but the FBI show is so aesthetically pleasing, which helped Hailey come alive even more :) Major credits to Monica Raymund for that!

Hailey and Voight: Two Sides of the Same Coin?

I’ve never been one to compare Hailey to Voight, and to me, this episode showed how different they are. 

She adjusted extremely quickly to the FBI. At first, everyone was hyper-aware that she was not a federal agent, including OA. They doubted her abilities and second-guessed some of her choices.That changed quickly once Hailey saw some action and made some key points in their investigation. OA started to listen to her and take note of what she was doing, trusting her to watch his back, and the rest of the team did, too, even letting her interrogate a suspect.

She inspires people to do better, to learn more. OA realizes that maybe cops aren’t inferior to federal agents. Jubal and Castille recognize her interrogation skills and her strategical skills, too. 

This episode, if anything, highlighted the differences between Hailey and Voight.

She wins people over because she knows how to beat the system without breaking it, and uses her deep knowledge and passion to find ways to help people without hurting them (for the most part). People trust her not because they know she can bend the rules, but because she knows when to be vulnerable. See, for example, how she relates to victims of abuse. Voight earns people’s respect because he protects the people he cares about, without restrictions. He connects with criminals through threats and violence, for the most part. 

Hailey may have been come to New York because Voight thought she was becoming too much like him, but this episode just showed how different they are. She is more open, more cooperating, and has stronger morals than I think Voight ever will.

It’s hard for me to explain, but to me, they’ve always been very different, and to me, showing up in New York and bringing such warm energy to the unit shows the difference between how Hailey influences people and versus how Voight does.

What the Future Holds for Hailey on Chicago PD

What will happen when she returns to her team?

I think she’ll be more aware of the impact that cases have on her. She got the wake-up call her character desperately needed, and now I think her conviction in herself will be stronger than ever. I think she knows that she can’t keep going down the path she was starting to walk in Season 7. 

She might not go back to how intense she was about the rules in Season 5, but I do think she now knows where the lines are and how to get things done without breaking them. 

I’m predicting that something will come up that will force her to come to terms with what she’s done with Darius and Gael, in one way or another. She hasn’t shown guilt about those things yet, but I think what she did to both of them really does bother her. She doesn’t want to feel it, but getting Darius killed and fabricating evidence was overstepping, and she knows that even if it was done in the name of loyalty, it was still against everything she stands for. 

What direction is her character arc going in?

To me, the writers seem to be leaning toward a massive Hailey-centric episode. The hints about her history with her father keep getting dropped (even on CBS, which was surprising!) and I think the fact that these cases keep coming up is affecting her, even though she doesn’t know it yet. 

I was really disappointed when “Intimate Violence” focused on how Jay dealt with seeing abuse, rather than what Hailey thought. I thought for sure she had a better background to interact with Michelle instead of Jay. I also thought the roles would have been reversed, that Hailey would have wanted to rush in and stop the violence while Jay wouldn’t comprehend the emotional weight of the situation.

As a result, I’m hoping that we cover that history and maybe meet some of Hailey’s family. I think that’s part of her past she needs to explore before really coming to terms with who she’s become.

Finally: where is her relationship with Jay going?

It seems like the coronavirus pandemic ruined a lot of Hailey’s upcoming storylines on FBI and Chicago PD. I got the impression that there was going to be some kind of milestone for her and Jay, whether a confession or an injury, that sparked the possible beginnings of a romantic relationship. 

I don’t think Upstead will just happen, even though the more we go on the more the show seems to be leaning toward them getting together. I know for sure I don’t want them to hook up right off the bat- I think their relationship is deeper than that.

I do think that Hailey and Jay both need to figure themselves out before they get together. Jay still carries a lot of guilt with the Angela situation and Hailey, as shown throughout the season, seems to be struggling emotionally with her sense of loyalty to her friends and her own inner demons.

If neither of them are in the right headspace, Upstead does have a lot of potential to crash and burn. They need to both be at a stable place in their lives to even think about considering dating. If the show tries to start something before either characters are ready, their relationship and partnership won’t last, so this upcoming season will be crucial. 

Part of me doesn’t want them to be a thing, because if it doesn’t work, one of the most central relationships on the show will have been destroyed. Their trust is what makes their bond so beautiful to watch, and I’d rather preserve that than have them date.

Love Me Not (Part 3)

“I’m sorry he is your what?” Jimin asked you looking confused.

How were you going to explain to him that you were dating a guy that not only embarrassed you in the public eye but also had the audacity to put his hands on you. But you were trying to move on from Jimin, why was he the only Happy? Why couldn’t you be happy?

Looking down at your hands you answered him, “Yea we started dating a few days ago. He is really nice once you get to know him.” Lies that was all that was coming out of you mouth but you wanted to show him that you were doing better.

“(Y/N) you cannot be serious!? This is the guy that put his hands on you not that long ago. & was screaming on you for bumping into him. I don’t like him.” Jimin exclaimed getting up from his seat walking back and forth, pushing his hair back. He was trying to process the new information that was giving to him. He saw the way he treated you today. Theres no way you would date some like him. Why were you dating him!?

“It doesn’t matter if you like him or not Jimin. We are not together anymore” even though you said it in a small whisper it still made Jimin stop his movement and turn to you slowly giving you a shocked face.

“I still care about you!? How can you that someone like him when we just broke up a few months ago!!” Jimin was angry at you for dating someone else but mostly himself because he broke you beyond repair. He could see it on you face, your body. Everything about you changed in a matter of months and he was scared that he might lose you.

“I didn’t love you anymore. Why would I stay with you if I didn’t love you anymore? Everything was changing between us and by the looks of it now. You’ll do anything to get my attention. I didn’t know you were so stupid to date a low life like him. But I guess you’re that much of a desperate whor-” he was cut of by you hand striking his cheek. He was shocked he never thought you would hit him.

This made you angry, how dare he judge you. “You don’t get to call me a whore. Because YOU LEFT ME! YOU LEFT ME FOR YURI & 3 DAYS LATER AFTER YOU LEFT ME YOU WERE DATING HER ALREADY SHOWING HER OFF TO THE WORLD. You didn’t even bother doing that with me. But I understand you were ashame of me. Fuck I mean look at me I’m nothing compared to her!” You were pulling you hair. It was so much to take the pain everything was driving you crazy. Couldn’t he see how much you were hurting because of him. He decided to end you relationship and move on days after. And now that you are trying you turned out to be the bad guy.

This wasn’t fair.

“(Y/n) I’m sor-”

“Get out. I never wanna see you again” you cut him off looking so defeated. Jimin was scared to leave the look on you face said everything. He saw you were tired, hurt, sad, but mostly angry. He didn’t know if it was towards him or yourself. He wanted to hold you and apologize, he didn’t know what came over him and he just snapped not only were you dating someone else but this was mentally and physically abusing you and you were just letting him.

This wasn’t the girl he fell in love with. The girl he fell in love with was strong, independent, loving, caring, kind and so many other things. But this girl was different she looked broken and he was the reason why.

“I told you to get out. I never wanna see you again.” With one last shove you opened the door for him, jimin stepping out but not before looking at you with a sad look.

“What have I done? Why would I hurt the girl that I love the most?” Jimin thought as you slammed the door on his face. He heard you slide down the door and cry. Jimin put his hand on forehead on the door silent tears running down his face. He still loved you, so deeply. He needed you back in his life just didn’t know how.

Weeks later....

You were back in school, you noticed that Jake was becoming more demanding, making you do everything for him. He didn’t treat you like a girlfriend, he treated you more like a slave than anything. And god forbid you got anything wrong or said the wrong thing. The bruises from last week were barely getting better. You were label as the quiet girl, had no friends but was still dating the hottest and richest guy in school. The students couldn’t find an explanation but they didn’t bother either.

Every day you would see Jimin drop or pick up Yuri at the same spot. You were so numb from the pain, you didn’t know if it hurt because of Jimin or because of Jake.

You completely changed and Jimin took noticed. Especially after Jungkook and Yoongi has informed him about what they saw last time they saw you with Jake.

“Hey Jimin have you talked to (y/n) at all lately?” He heard Jungkook asked him as him and Yoongi walked into the living were him and the rest of the members were watching tv.

“The last time we talked we ended in bad terms. It’s been weeks since we’ve talked.” Jimin said grabbing the attention of the other members.

“We saw here at the store with some dude and she didn’t look too good. Did she start dating someone” Yoongi stated. Jimin felt his heart stopped. He knew exactly what they were talking about.

“Oh yea that’s her umm new boyfriend?” Jimin felt the venom in his mouth as soon as the word boyfriend left. He hated to think that you had someone else, someone that didn’t fucking deserved you. It made him angry, his hand clenching into fist.

“Wait, she has a boyfriend. How come you never told you” Taehyung asked him.

“I didn’t think you guys would care plus it’s the same dumbass that screamed and touched her at the park” Jimin stared shrugging his shoulders.

“Wait hold the fuck up. You mean to tell me that she is dating the fucker that treated her like shit in public!? And you fucking knew and didn’t tell us about it! What the fuck is wrong with you?” Namjoon stood up from his sit looking angry. Namjoon had always had a soft spot for you. You were like a little sister to him. He hated himself for pushing you to the side when you and Jimin broke up but he figured you needed space.

“Hyung he doesn’t look like a good guy. He was yelling at her and pushing her for grabbing the wrong thing. We stepped in but the guy pulled her away before we could ask her anything. She had bruises on her body. She looked like she had a black eye but he took her away too fast to confirm” Jungkook said in a sad voice.

“What happened the last time you saw her?” Him asked him. The boys were shocked to hear what Jungkook had said.

“Well it didn’t go so well. I confronted her about it because she attends the same University as Yuri. And she was with that guy, he was being stupid and screaming at her. He force her to agreed to go to her house even after she has declined the offer. I got to her house hours later and when she opened the door she was wearing my tshirt but she has bruise in her body umm sexual bruises” Jimin felt his jaw tighten after he said those words out loud.

The members were quiet waiting for Jimin to finish the story but he could tell they were getting angry, “anyways so we started talking and she told me she was dating him and I flipped I told her that how could she move on to someone as low as him in the matter of weeks. Fuck I even accused her of being a desperate whore begging for my attention. She slapped me and told me I had not right to judge her since I had moved on after 3 days after I left her. I just don’t know what happened. I flipped and she kicked me out but she looked so broken. It’s all my fault” Jimin was looking down at his hands, to scared to look at the members.

He knew the members cared deeply about you and the fact that he said that to you, he definitely deserved the slapped. When he looked up he noticed the flares from his members he knew they were pissed at him for his actions.

“You mean to tell me that you fucking knew that bastard was touching her without her consent and you decided to call her a desperate whore.” Hoseok asked him with a disbelieved look on his face. He was angry, Jimin couldn’t have been more stupid.

“You left her Jimin for a someone new. You had to fucking right to judge her because if anybody was meant to be judge it would be you!” Hoseok finished looking like he was ready to punch something or him.

“Fuck I know okay? I was angry it took me that to realized that I still love her. But I just don’t know what to do. I’ve only been with Yuri to keep an eye on her but every day she looks worse and worse and I can’t take it anymore. I know I should of told you guys sooner but I just didn’t know how to tell you guys. I feel like shit because just starting at the dumbass makes me angry. I just FUCK I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. HOW TO GET HER BACK!” Jimin was at the average of pulling out his hair.

“Look you made a mistake. We are humans after all. You should’ve told us as soon as you noticed. Not let it go by months and waited til now. The first thing we gotta do is get her away from that guy. If you don’t love Yuri you need to break up with her. She doesn’t deserve for you to be playing with her. Once (y/n) is better and ready maybe you can try and see if you can get her back. But right now what matters is her. Not you. Her. So if you really want her back you need to understand it’s going to take some time and you have to be patience. She is broken not only by the guy but by you too. We will help because you are our brother but don’t ever let something like this happened again.” Yoongi told him while she took a seat next to him patting on his shoulder.

Jimin knew his brothers wouldn’t leave him behind. He was going to get you back no matter what happens. He loves you, you are it for him and he knows this is a fight he is willing to fight for.

Hi. I used to follow your old blog on a different account. Hope you're doing well. Do you have any tips on thinking up stories that are *not* dark and depressing due to subject material? The last story I was working on I had to quit because the backstory I was developing for my passive male character was super depressing. At times I enjoyed researching it, though what won out was the thought I was wasting my time looking into angsty things for something I wasn't even planning to publish. Now I want to write something a little happier. But I have the most experience in writing angst and cringe comedy 😅 thanks for any help you can give. Stay safe out there!

By the way, good on you for dropping that manga you used to follow. I was happy most of the characters lived, but other than that, it felt "meh" to me (granted, I didn't read all the way from the beginning). The author was probably going for a "people will always be fighting each other" theme, but some of the imagery of what happened after a time skip could definitely be taken as pro-fascist. And I was disappointed the protagonist basically said he wanted to bring about destruction! I'm glad I didn't spend any money to read it.

Wow, hi! I’m doing all right, thanks for asking. I hope you’re doing all right, too. :)

As far as “that manga” goes, I’ve kept tabs on it. I’ve been on the fringes for the last two-ish years; I dedicated something like four real life years to that fandom and mostly had a good time while I was there (made some friends I hope to keep for life), so it was one of those situations where I just had to find out how it ended. I realized at some point that I was in a very negative space in the fandom, and felt it was better to publicly drop the series and the blog associated with all of my meta/discussion than to play in what had become a toxic pool for me. I didn’t really want to drop the account after my time there, but I couldn’t have dealt with the nonstop questions/messages/etc that would have piled in over the years, and eh, when you’re done you’re done. I criticize Hallmark television for fun, now, instead. It’s a lot less stressful! And literally nothing is That Deep so there’s very few delusions, at least on the Tumblr side of things. (Reddit, however, is insane, but I don’t post in the fandom there.)

As far as writing advice goes, I am going to apologize in advance for muddled thoughts. I just got out of work and have been staring at numbers all day, so it’s hard for me to think lmaoo.

In my opinion, any sort of character or personality type/flaw/whatever could have developed via a negative OR positive influence/catalyst, so that’s something to consider. I also think people tend to reach for “sad” or “traumatic” pasts either as a way to cope with their own issues/pasts/whatevers, or because it’s the “easy explanation” for why a character is the way they are.

If you WANT to write things a certain way, it’s sometimes a matter of changing the lens through which you’re viewing life, the story, the characters, or character writing in general. This is never easy, especially when you find a genre you feel comfortable in, but it’s always possible. When I was in college and submitted an autobiographical piece (Rot Tooth) for a creative writing final, I received multiple comments from classmates and even the professor that my talent/skill was in writing comedy. COMEDY!!!! I don’t think anyone who has read my writing from the last decade would say that I was a comedy writer. I stopped labeling ‘fics as humor/romance so long ago I can’t even remember when it was. But boom. I had written a comedy piece.

I don’t think I can ignore that most of the comedic elements in Rot Tooth were brought about because humor is one of the ways in which I cope with things, but it was also a very conscious choice I made. I wanted people to be able to engage with the story without being grossed out, without getting bored, without feeling that it was a poor-pathetic-me story, and humor was the classiest way to do it. Here, read this long story that includes journal entries from Ye Olde Livejournal days, but it will make you laugh often enough that the depressing aspects of the story don’t weigh it down too much! It was probably the only way to make the subject matter widely palatable. 

As often as I joke about characters or scenes or moments that “just write themselves” the author does have control. I mostly write fanfiction, so let’s go with examples from that.

I’m (very slowly) working on a ‘fic called Three Years which features a character who, when last seen, was headed off to serve a prison sentence. They haven’t been on the show for three years and thus I assume they have been serving that sentence for the last three years. The story starts when this character is released from prison. They are a woman. This is a historical piece of fiction. Prisons were vile to women and yet...this is fiction. I have a choice. I get to choose. Does she get to start her life off carrying 25 bags of trauma or just 2? It would be unreasonable to expect that someone, especially a woman, who was imprisoned for 3 years in the early 1900s wouldn’t have some issues (at the very least, the isolation would have been awful), but it doesn’t really have to be much worse than that. It doesn’t.

I have the power to choose.

A character has anger issues. Sure, he could have had a traumatic past with an abusive parent who took his anger out on him or his mom or whatever...or maybe it is an inherited personality trait and the parent figure with the problem was never really That Bad about it, but seeing it normalized makes it harder for the character in question to realize it’s a huge problem and part of their character arc is realizing they need to get help, not because they don’t want to be like their dad, and not because they hate their dad, but because they just want to be a better person/they don’t want to let that struggle consume them.

Someone’s sweetheart goes off to war. Guess what? They don’t have to die there to force a traumatic past. They don’t have to come back a raging alcoholic either. Maybe the time apart, and the time fighting a war just puts a natural sort of crack in the relationship by making it clearer to each character what they want in life/what matters to them in their life.

A character is super passionate about their work/hobby. Maybe they have ADHD and it’s a hyperfixation. Maybe they’re autistic and it’s a Special Interest. It doesn’t have to be “their parents ignored them and forced them to be alone all the time and they used this thing to cope so it means everything to them because it’s always been there.”

Maybe you have a character whose greatest fear is losing the people they love. It doesn’t have to be because a pet died in their arms when they were four and it traumatized them. It doesn’t have to be because they only have one person they love in the whole world. It can just be a thing because that’s a valid fear literally anyone can reasonably have, and maybe it’s a bigger deal because they don’t have siblings or aren’t close to many people! (And the “aren’t close to many people” thing doesn’t have to stem from trauma, either. Most busy adults for example who get to choose their friends, are just like that.)

A perfectionist might just have the personality type; it doesn’t mean their parents criticized everything they ever did. A person with three failed marriages might hesitate to fall in love and try again but it doesn’t have to be because those three failed marriages were abusive. A quiet character may just be shy or introverted by nature. 

I think everyone carries some kind of trauma with them, so it’s never unreasonable to have some in a person’s past (you can’t write an ugly character without having to think about the fact that they carry some trauma from what it’s like to grow up ugly), but it doesn’t have to define them. It doesn’t have to overshadow everything else in their past.

You can always ask yourself, “Why am I reaching for angst every time I create a backstory?” Literally everyone has some kind of angst. Most kids were hurt by things said to them in school, for example, or made fun of for some reason. Most people did something extremely embarrassing as a kid and never got over it. There are a thousand little moments in our adult lives that go back to these little points—you might call them the tiny traumas. But they’re not defining. They’re not so heavy they also live in the present. Not all of them.

Why do you reach for the darkest corner? Why not for the light? Or a middle ground?

I encourage people to write basically whatever floats their boat, but it sounds like you’re at a point where you just feel weighed down by that sort of stuff, and that’s not a great way to feel, especially when it discourages you from working on a project entirely.

My final suggestion: look at some of your favorite characters from various types of media. Are they all traumatized? What are their defining characteristics? Black Beauty has some depressing stuff in it, but is ultimately a story with a happy ending. Pride and Prejudice has drama, but nobody’s past is filled with the darkest stuff imaginable. North and South has awful things to consider in it (cotton mills were sooo awful) but the characters are not wildly traumatized people.

What kind of story are you trying to tell? Do the characters need to be traumatized to tell it? Does the story have to be dark to get across the message you want to send? 

Way back in the day, when I was into “that manga” I made an RP blog for a one-off character that nobody gave a damn about. Like, he was so one-off that even back in those days nobody even remembered him having existed. It was sort of a joke RP blog that wasn’t supposed to be serious. The only canon information we had about this character was that he enjoyed drinking. I decided to make him a lighthearted character because the series was pretty dark and I wanted to send people hilarious starters instead of wading through the muck of depression with everyone else’s sad, abused characters. I decided his family was old money and he had a brother. Nothing super traumatizing in his past. Some family issues but not the sort of thing that would haunt anyone. He was not traumatized in his recent past any more than other characters were. Mostly just “a regular guy.” I really loved RPing him. He was fun! The story could get heavy but he didn’t have to be.

Anyway, dive head-first into the dark angst if you want, but if it’s not necessary to tell the story you want to tell, just remember you don’t have to go there. You have the choice.

“I’m sorry he is your what?” Jimin asked you looking confused.

    How were you going to explain to him that you were dating a guy that not only embarrassed you in the public eye but also had the audacity to put his hands on you. But you were trying to move on from Jimin, why was he the only Happy? Why couldn’t you be happy?

    Looking down at your hands you answered him, “Yea we started dating a few days ago. He is really nice once you get to know him.” Lies that was all that was coming out of your mouth but you wanted to show him that you were doing better.

    “(Y/N) you cannot be serious!? This is the guy that put his hands on you not that long ago. & was screaming on you for bumping into him. I don’t like him.” Jimin exclaimed getting up from his seat walking back and forth, pushing his hair back. He was trying to process the new information that was giving to him. He saw the way he treated you today. There’s no way you would date some like him. Why were you dating him!?

    “It doesn’t matter if you like him or not Jimin. We are not together anymore” even though you said it in a small whisper it still made Jimin stop his movement and turn to you slowly giving you a shocked face.

    “I still care about you!? How can you that someone like him when we just broke up a few months ago!!” Jimin was angry at you for dating someone else but mostly himself because he broke you beyond repair. He could see it on your face, your body. Everything about you changed in a matter of months and he was scared that he might lose you.

    “I didn’t love you anymore. Why would I stay with you if I didn’t love you anymore? Everything was changing between us and by the looks of it now. You will do anything to get my attention. I didn’t know you were so stupid to date a low life like him. But I guess you’re that much of a desperate whor-” he was cut off by you hand striking his cheek. He was shocked he never thought you would hit him.

    This made you angry, how dare he judge you. 

    “You don’t get to call me a whore. Because YOU LEFT ME! YOU LEFT ME FOR YURI & 3 DAYS LATER AFTER YOU LEFT ME YOU WERE DATING HER ALREADY SHOWING HER OFF TO THE WORLD. You didn’t even bother doing that with me. But I understand you were ashamed of me. Fuck I mean look at me I’m nothing compared to her!” You were pulling you hair. It was so much to take the pain everything was driving you crazy. 

    Couldn’t he see how much you were hurting because of him. He decided to end your relationship and move on days after. And now that you are trying you turned out to be the bad guy.

This wasn’t fair.

“(Y/n) I’m sor-”

    “Get out. I never want to see you again” you cut him off looking so defeated. Jimin was scared to leave the look on you face said everything. He saw you were tired, hurt, sad, but mostly angry. He didn’t know if it was towards him or yourself. He wanted to hold you and apologize, he didn’t know what came over him and he just snapped not only were you dating someone else but this was mentally and physically abusing you and you were just letting him.

    This wasn’t the girl he fell in love with. The girl he fell in love with was strong, independent, loving, caring, kind and so many other things. But this girl was different she looked broken and he was the reason why.

    “I told you to get out. I never want to see you again.” With one last shove you opened the door for him, Jimin stepping out but not before looking at you with a sad look.

    “What have I done? Why would I hurt the girl that I love the most?” Jimin thought as you slammed the door on his face. He heard you slide down the door and cry. Jimin put his hand on forehead on the door silent tears running down his face. He still loved you, so deeply. He needed you back in his life just didn’t know how.

Weeks later….

    You were back in school, you noticed that Jake was becoming more demanding, making you do everything for him. He didn’t treat you like a girlfriend, he treated you more like a slave than anything. And god forbid you got anything wrong or said the wrong thing. The bruises from last week were barely getting better. 

    You were label as the quiet girl, had no friends but was still dating the hottest and richest guy in school. The students couldn’t find an explanation, but they didn’t bother either.

     Every day you would see Jimin drop or pick up Yuri at the same spot. You were so numb from the pain; you didn’t know if it hurt because of Jimin or because of Jake.

    You completely changed and Jimin took noticed. Especially after Jungkook and Yoongi has informed him about what they saw last time they saw you with Jake.

    “Hey Jimin have you talked to (y/n) at all lately?” He heard Jungkook asked him as him and Yoongi walked into the living were him and the rest of the members were watching tv.

    “The last time we talked we ended in bad terms. It’s been weeks since we’ve talked.” Jimin said grabbing the attention of the other members.

    “We saw here at the store with some dude and she didn’t look too good. Did she start dating someone” Yoongi stated. Jimin felt his heart stopped. He knew exactly what they were talking about.

    “Oh, yea that’s her umm new boyfriend?” Jimin felt the venom in his mouth as soon as the word boyfriend left. He hated to think that you had someone else, someone that didn’t fucking deserved you. It made him angry, his hand clenching into fist.

    “Wait, she has a boyfriend. How come you never told you” Taehyung asked him.

    “I didn’t think you guys would care plus it’s the same dumbass that screamed and touched her at the park” Jimin stared shrugging his shoulders.

    “Wait hold the fuck up. You mean to tell me that she is dating the fucker that treated her like shit in public!? And you fucking knew and didn’t tell us about it! What the fuck is wrong with you?” Namjoon stood up from his sit looking angry. 

    Namjoon had always had a soft spot for you. You were like a little sister to him. He hated himself for pushing you to the side when you and Jimin broke up, but he figured you needed space.

    “Hyung he doesn’t look like a good guy. He was yelling at her and pushing her for grabbing the wrong thing. We stepped in but the guy pulled her away before we could ask her anything. She had bruises on her body. She looked like she had a black eye, but he took her away too fast to confirm” Jungkook said in a sad voice.

    “What happened the last time you saw her?” Him asked him. The boys were shocked to hear what Jungkook had said.

    “Well it didn’t go so well. I confronted her about it because she attends the same University as Yuri. And she was with that guy, he was being stupid and screaming at her. He forces her to agree to go to her house even after she has declined the offer. I got to her house hours later and when she opened the door, she was wearing my t-shirt but she has bruise in her body umm sexual bruises” Jimin felt his jaw tighten after he said those words out loud.

    The members were quiet waiting for Jimin to finish the story but he could tell they were getting angry, “anyways so we started talking and she told me she was dating him and I flipped I told her that how could she move on to someone as low as him in the matter of weeks. Fuck I even accused her of being a desperate whore begging for my attention. She slapped me and told me I had not right to judge her since I had moved on after 3 days after I left her. I just don’t know what happened. I flipped and she kicked me out, but she looked so broken. It’s all my fault” Jimin was looking down at his hands, too scared to look at the members.

    He knew the members cared deeply about you and the fact that he said that to you, he deserved the slapped. When he looked up, he noticed the flares from his members he knew they were pissed at him for his actions.

    “You mean to tell me that you fucking knew that bastard was touching her without her consent, and you decided to call her a desperate whore.” Hoseok asked him with a disbelieved look on his face. He was angry, Jimin couldn’t have been more stupid.

     “You left her Jimin for a someone new. You had to fucking right to judge her because if anybody were meant to be judge it would be you!” Hoseok finished looking like he was ready to punch something or him.

    “Fuck I know okay? I was angry it took me that to realized that I still love her. But I just don’t know what to do. I’ve only been with Yuri to keep an eye on her but every day she looks worse and worse and I can’t take it anymore. I know I should off told you guys sooner but I just didn’t know how to tell you guys. I feel like shit because just starting at the dumbass makes me angry. I just FUCK I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. HOW TO GET HER BACK!” Jimin was at the average of pulling out his hair.

      “Look you made a mistake. We are humans after all. You should’ve told us as soon as you noticed. Not let it go by months and waited till now. The first thing we got to do is get her away from that guy. If you don’t love Yuri, you need to break up with her. She doesn’t deserve for you to be playing with her. Once (y/n) is better and ready maybe you can try and see if you can get her back. But right now, what matters is her. Not you. Her. So, if you really want her back you need to understand it’s going to take some time and you have to be patience. She is broken not only by the guy but by you too. We will help because you are our brother but don’t ever let something like this happened again.” Yoongi told him while she took a seat next to him patting on his shoulder.

    Jimin knew his brothers wouldn’t leave him behind. He was going to get you back no matter what happens. He loves you; you are it for him and he knows this is a fight he is willing to fight for.

OUCHH... ;w; big forms ep is HILLARIOUS bc its soooooo AWKWARD. the awkwardness of being at someone else’s house... trying to talk to your host when the ONLY topics you have in common are “i know a few things about your dead crush” and “my other self is YOUR crush”. sakura telling him that her dad insists love can last through reincarnation and eriol specifically being like “give up on clow because he’s dead” later, and he’s spying on this whole ep so he must be rolling around laughing right then. the fact that neither of these couples is healthy whatsoever but everyone’s working with what they have to try and lessen the awkward, and oh no its worse now. kero picking up on the clowtime pattern of “i have to do all the work around here” but honestly its just that it’s kero’s house and yue’s awkwardly hovering and sakura really really doesnt wanna make her intimidating guest do stuff. WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE BC ITS SUPER AWKWARD. yue then cleaning the entire kitchen while sakura is cleaning off kero. 10/10 episode.

YUEKITOUYAAAAAAAAAAAA. yukito and touya dating happily and then yue a few years later like OH. I ALSO LOVE HIM. yukito being super supportive and happy of it. yue and touya both feeling like “whats an amazing guy like him doing with someone like me...”. yue going in thinking oh i know what love is and touya raising the bar constantly. its good!!

Brotp:

him and yukito!! two people waking up in their situation scared and upset and stuck together, making the most of it as only they can. i think a lot of them both being like “noooo i want YOU to be happy and comfortable” and trying to do little things for the other when each is taking their turn being active. yue making yukito tea and getting him out of bed when he neeeds to wake up but just feels sluggish, yukito buying little moon decorations for the house he thinks yue would like....aaahhh yukito getting glow in the dark star stickers omg...realizing that there’s no one they’d rather share a life with like that. i think yukito’s the sort of person who doesn’t like to appear uncertain and takes his time being sure before communicating, and theres a sense of pride on yue’s part that he’s the only person, often not even touya, who gets to hear yukito put his thoughts together and be that sort of sounding board. yukito “growing up” in a big “often”-empty house i think leads to him talking to the air a lot, and now that’s yue!!

him and sakura, too!! slowly taking her up on her offer of friendship!! there’s an amazing bit soon after judgement where just her asking frantically if he’s okay??? if he’s SURE he’s okay???? after getting hurt protecting her makes him stop and stare....the switch flipped he is her dad now. i want him to feel like he can talk to her, especially about the Before Times, weigh the things he thinks are too heavy for a child against the things he wants to be heard, maybe see her face and be like oh boy i got it wrong sometimes. and also the knowledge that this is a friendship they chose for themselves!! that they were Predicted to mean different things to each other, but it would be something inappropriate and draining and a cruelty to carry out. this is an unpaved road!! if i keep going on and on i will go on all day but HIM AND KERO!!! HIM AND THE CARDS!!!! HIM AND LI, AND TOMOYO, AND oh just let him be surrounded by friends!!!!

Head Canon:

extremely touchy. like the first thing he did when he showed up for judgement was grab sakura’s face and i think thats just how he is. i think nobody in the clowsehold had any awareness of personal space and yue got so steeped in it that he is just like that now. big on affectionate hair ruffles esp with the kids and putting-an-arm-around-people that he’s barely aware of. it makes yukito a little sad to know that he and yue can never really connect like that but if he hugs himself yue will feel it so it works out!!

Unpopular opinion:

(gets up on stage) clowyue!! (half the crowd boos half the crowd cheers) was HORRIBLE (the cheering/booing crowd halves switch confusedly) essentially i really like to think about the wreckage and then healing from the sort of toxic imbalanced ambiguously requited never-labeled faux-relationship feelings-yoyo i imagine it to have been. but that means i need to acknowledge it happened. unfortunately most people who make ship content do so because they like it, and most people who dont make ship content do so because they dislike it. can you believe it?

ok i think you are missing my point there which was that siblings a lot of times do things to get on each others nerves and are not perfect angels to each other. never in my little (in the tags bc i knew it had little to nothing to do with my main point!!) personal family story did i say he did it to make me cry!! bc it was in the tags and i wasn’t actually telling the story, i gave it maybe four words.

bc you seem so quick to judge my family life based off of a 5 word sentence i’ll use this ask as a chance to a) explain out the full story bc apparently it’s important? and b) make my point a bit better instead of a two line blurb i thought in the heat of the moment bc i’m watching the vox machina campaign again and got to the boots of haste debacle 

the general, abbreviated version of this is: i have a stuffed animal i sleep with every night. my brother thought it was funny i still slept with a stuffed animal. (i was like.....10? and he was far older than me). he took said stuffed animal to see what i’d do and “prove” to me that i didn’t need it to sleep with. i couldn’t find the stuffed animal when i went to go to sleep, cried a lot, he laughed and tried to convince me to sleep alone like a grownup. when it became clear this wouldn’t work, he said: “damn i guess i was wrong, here, please go to bed. don’t tell mom”

that also has NOTHING to do with me taking his hoodies or his pocket knives?? hoodies i took bc he was older than me and therefore they were both bigger and cooler than anything i had. i would sneak them out of the laundry, he’d see me wearing them and jokingly yell at me to give them back, i refused, he started guarding his hoodies on laundry day. the pocket knives thing does sound weird but the gist of it is we live in bumfuck south and my brother was allowed pocket knives young but i wasn’t. i wanted a pocket knife bc my older brother had one so i took it and he found out and gave me a very stern “ok but you can’t tell mom AND you’ve gotta prove to me you can use this right” talking to, and took it back the first time i did something stupid.

now that the explanations are out of the way, is this bc i said that siblings sometimes say intentionally mean or hurtful things to each other? bc like. i wanted to point out i never said that was okay, i just said it does happen. like. my brother had cancer and some of the drugs made him super mean and we’d fight but like. he’s my brother?? i’d tell him he was being a dick and we’d scream and he’d come back and apologize later, before he took them again. when i was super depressed and angry and our parents were too busy for me, i took it out on him -- i was a kid and he was the only person around. he wouldn’t take it lying down, we’d fight, and i’d apologize later. we both got pretty awful at points, but the fact of the matter is we realized we were wrong, and apologized and like fuck. he’s my brother. of course i’m gonna forgive him!! and he forgave me!!

sorry this is getting long sorry but back to my main point i see all this discourse, constantly abt a “good sibling relationship.” if siblings get angry with each other in canon, it’s automatically labelled a “bad relationship” by the fans (and the fans rise to the defense of their favorite... usually male... character in this situation) bc siblings can’t fight!! they can’t have major disagreements!! that’s not allowed!! when it’s like. so incredibly not true. and i really can’t handle seeing stuff like that bc siblings are not this perfect duo crew!! they can and do squabble and argue and tease -- which is the parts shown in media “sibling relationships” -- but the minute they have an actual fight the fans say it’s a toxic relationship. 

the examples i gave were katara and sokka and vex and vax. with katara and sokka, it’s more the squabbles and bickering -- “they aren’t good siblings bc katara puts down sokka (always focused on katara, despite the fact that the first time we see sokka he’s doing the same to her??? hm), they aren’t good siblings bc of the thing katara said that one time in the heat of extreme pain, they aren’t good siblings bc they argue all the time” -- that kinda stuff. with vex and vax, i was specifically talking abt the boots of haste issue, how the fans got so angry that vex had taken the boots -- as a joke!! -- and then kept them when her brother let her. like vax literally let her keep the boots. but all people could focus on was the fact that she had taken them, and from then on said all this stuff abt “bullying” and “greed” and whatever. those were specifically the situations i was talking abt as i said in the tags!!

i  don’t  really  have  a  label  for  this  one  ,  but  something  that  was  highly  disapproved  by  their  friends  /  inner  circle  ?  this  would  require  a  little  more  plotting  just  to  get  dynamics  down  ,  but  i’m  just  picturing  something  where  when  they  made  it  official  their  friends  were  like  ‘  why  would  you  date  them  ?  ’  so  there  was  probably  a  lot  of  moments  where  they  felt  like  it  was  them  against  the  world  but  i  think  it  could  be  an  interesting  dynamic  to  write  !

the  way  that  madeleine  has  enemies  is  sickening  !  i’m  looking  for  something  where  they  genuinely  hate  one  another  and  there’s  no  chance  of  them  EVER  becoming  friends  .  i  have  no  clue  as  to  why  they  wouldn’t  be  friends  ,  but  i  want  is  please  .

some  collaborators  !  people  who  show  up  on  her  igtv  reels  every  so  often  or  even  in  her  youtube  videos  (  in  videos  like  ‘  what  my  friend  wears  to  fashion  week  ’  or  even  general  vlogs  )  ,  and  they  go  on  little  adventures  with  one  another  !  i  just  think  it  could  be  something  cute  and  fun  !
