DPXDC prompt. Adult!Danny x Sleep-deprived!Constantine: We seem to have a misunderstanding.
Warlock was willing to admit that the Phantom’s company was mostly useful and not unpleasant. Because of the specifics of his work they had to meet quite often. It was nice to be at least a little sure that you wouldn’t get stabbed in the back. The new ghost king seemed to be amused by the World of the Living and that was quite useful. In addition, the Infinite Realms had a history of endless conflicts with Hell, so when demons was messing with him, Phantom was happy to put sticks in their wheels.
However, the current enemy of the League was another alien. Both John and Phantom happened to be nearby. But it seems ghost had no reason to help Hellblazer now, as this fight had nothing to do with his kingdom. Given that Batman had explicitly instructed John to stay on the battlefield, it seemed that if John Constantine wanted to count on a weekend, he would have to use his trump card now.
Constantine: In view of the urgency of the situation, I would like to make a proposal. Life offers many challenges. I know I can meet them if you're willing to face them with me. In the spirit of saving time..[holding up a ring] This is for you. You in?
Phantom: I..I don’t know, John. I mean i want to say yes but It’s all so sudden. Please gimme some time to think, okay? And let me help to deal with these invaders first and then we’ll talk about it.
John: ..Sure?
~~~~~
Tucker: Whoa crazy battle dude. John: Civilians are not allowed here. Danny: It's all right. We were going to meet at a cafe, but now, well, there is no cafe. I mean, he's with me and not so civilian, okay?Ehem..John, meet my best friend Tucker. Tucker, meet my..Em, this is John, and he's kinda my John. It's new for us.
Damn. He was in a hurry and offered more than he should have. It turns out the ghost had an interest in protecting the city. It is unlikely that he would allow the destruction of the place where one of his humans lives.
And worst of all, Phantom did not accept the ring (for which John had to hunt for several months) as payment. Constantine got it specially in case he needed a favor or a way to calm the anger of the spirit he was starting to get along with. Like, really, John spent a fair amount to own the artifact which would have neutralized the consequences of wearing a ring of rage. But Ghost didn’t want it? Why? And yet he helped. So John was in debt.
And how it's all at a bad time. The peace treaty and the treaty of cooperation between the States and the Infinite Realms was concluded only recently. Of course John didn't even have time to discuss the terms of their deal because the blushing ghost flew away to fight but to say that he won't pay for the service is like admitting that you want to start a new conflict. Constantine was starting to have a headache. He'll think about it when he gets at least a couple of hours of sleep. Whatever payment the ghost needs, it can wait a couple of hours.
~~~~~
But as it turned out, the ghost couldn’t make up his mind and decide what he wanted from him. He started showing up at John’s place and looking at him thoughtfully, also recently dragged him to pick out a suit. How he could be mistaken for a stylist John did not understand but preferred not to unnerve a potential ally.
Moreover, for some reason the chaotic creature decided that he had the right to condemn John for always forgetting to have dinner or take a bath. This scoundrel dared to lock him in a bathroom with strange scented candles and colored water. Whatever these bath bombs were, dumb spirit failed to poison him but now John smelled like peaches. Disgusting.
After breaking down the door he found the same mess with candles on the kitchen table. Phantom fought a fierce battle with the green goo in the pot that he brought to John's house, but eventually gave up and they ordered delivery. All in all, it was a pleasant evening. Of course John didn't admit it but for some reason Danny decided that he could make such a mess every Friday.

~~~~~
Danny: So..me and Morningstar are friends now. Do you mind? I know you don’t get along very well. John: Why should I care? Your friends are your business. Considering you’re crazy about the stars I’m surprised you’re not sleeping with their maker.
Danny: Hell no, Lightbringer is great. And I’m glad he’s sharing with me what I wouldn’t find in books but I would never cheat on my partner. John: Good to know. (Wow, who knew the Phantom has a lover.)
~~~~~
Morningstar: I have no idea what you see in this arrogant man, stardust.
Phantom: I don’t know. It’s interesting to be around him. You never know what’s going to happen tomorrow. And his determination and sarcastic nature are really charming.
Morningstar: Well, I’ll get rid of some of his contracts for your wedding but only because I like you and not because I’m willing to deal with this liar.
Phantom: Thanks, Luci,  you’re the best.
Morningstar:That’s true. But it's not free. I need you as a babysitter to keep Spawn busy while, well, Detective and I are busy.
Phantom: No problem :)

pairing: jude bellingham x f1 driver!reader
summary: after an eventful singapore gp, the only thing you can think of is your comfy bed but your body has another plan and your boyfriend isn't happy about that. [wc: 1,6k]
req: Ferrari driver reader x jude where she feels a bit dizzy after a race and kind of faints when they get at the hotel, like just fluff with him taking care of her + CAN YOU WRITE JUDE ANGST THEN FLUFF IDC ABT THE SCENARIO JS JUDE ANGST IN JUDE X DRIVER READER 🙏🙏
contents: established relationship, charles is reader's teammate, ferrari being good au (impossible ik), reader faints, jude is a worried bf, barely has angst ngl 🏃‍♀️, nothing else i think
note: i have no idea how to write about fainting and it probably shows. ALSO, i wrote most of this at 1am so i hope it makes sense (probably doesn't but we move😪)
now playing: sanctuary by joji (nectar)
usually you would say you absolutely loved singapore. the track was one of your favourites on the calendar and you practically counted down the days to this race. but this week was probably the most difficult of your entire career in motorsports. of course, marina bay had never been an easy race, and the weather conditions in singapore were only making it harder to handle. but this year, no number of ice bath and cold shower could appease the dizzying headache that plagued your weekend.
and to add to that, everyone at the team has been stressing you out about the championship. obviously, you were grateful that you could finally fight for one, ferrari had built the perfect car this season. but this came with a price, fighting against charles for the title. you were great friends with your teammate but you had to admit your relationship took a toll with the constant tension between the two of you throughout the season. anyone wearing a bright red kit kept reminding you that you needed to be careful on track, that if you crashed with anyone, but especially with charles, you'd be in great trouble.
thankfully your boyfriend joined you after qualifying, and made your weekend instantly better. he noticed something was wrong right away. of course, you told jude about your struggles but he didn't expect to find you in this state.
"maybe you shouldn't race tomorrow..?"
you took a glance at jude, laid down on the hotel room bed, to check if he actually meant what he just uttered only to find a very serious look on his face.
"yeah, i'll just call fred to tell him i'm feeling sick and don't care about the championship anymore, that's definitely the best choice i have." sarcasm dripped out of your words as jude rolled his eyes.
"just because you had a bad day, doesn't mean you have to give me an attitude." it was your turn to roll your eyes. you quietly got under the sheets and muttered a barely audible 'goodnight', clearly not having the energy to argue with him tonight.
as you closed your eyes you felt jude turn around to wrap you in his arms around you.
"i'm just worried for my girl, that's all." he said, softly kissing your hair. you turned around to face him, having to trace his face before finding his lips because of the darkness of the room, and pressed a quick kiss on his lips.
"i appreciate your concern, i really do. but this race is so much more important than a silly headache. i'll be okay." you kissed him again for good measure. "you're gonna have to trust me with this one."
"i always trust you." the two of you talked some more before falling asleep in each other's arms.
the only thing you could think of when you stepped out of your car was your bed. as expected the race had been particularly draining and truth be told, you didn't know if you would be able to stand on the podium in your state. you managed to score a satisfying p2, well it would have been more satisfying if charles wasn't standing on the highest step of the podium, with a 4-point difference before catching on you in the driver's standing.
when the whole team congratulated you on your results, it felt like you were in a fever dream, barely making out what was real and what wasn't. you didn't even notice jude talking to you before he snapped his fingers in front of you.
"are you okay ? should i take you to the medics ?" he asked in a worried tone.
"i'm alright... just need to get through the podium." which did not happen. you ran off stage as soon as the italian anthem stopped ringing in your ears. it was all too much, the heat, the noise, the exhaustion, the pressure. all too much to handle for you.
when you joined jude, he was already talking with your pr manager, telling her you wouldn't be able to do any media work right now. it was the truth, not a petty lie to get away with it. you genuinely felt even more lightheaded (if that was possible) at the sole thought of having to go through a dozen interviews.
seeing you barely standing straight must have conceived her, so soon enough you were on your way back to the hotel in a cab jude called.
you quietly laid your head on jude's shoulder. he barely said a word to you since the podium incident, only asking how you felt, if you drank enough water, and how many hours of sleep you had. you watched him as he typed things on his phone in total silence. you wondered if he was mad at you for putting yourself in such a situation or only worried. regardless, you felt a pang of sadness in your heart thinking about it before drifting off.
as soon as jude opened your hotel room's door, you felt your legs giving up on you, your hands found the wall to steady yourself. you could hear jude's voice but couldn't make out what he was saying, like you were underwater.
you tried making it to the bed, but you fell down on your knees and just propped your back against it, waiting a minute before getting up, to get your head to stop spinning uncontrollably.
"y/n. are you okay ?" you felt your boyfriend kneeling down next to you and could finally understand his words, but it felt like they were resonating in your brain, only worsening your headache.
"i'm fine, i'm fine... i just need a moment." you didn't want to worry jude more than he already was, although the weak tone of your voice alarmed him more than anything. you felt him shift around you, and caught a glimpse of him coming back from the bathroom before your eyes shut.
when you woke up, you were laid on the bed with a wet cloth on your forehead. and the first thing you saw was a wide-eyed jude handing you a glass of water.
"i thought about making you drink when you were... asleep? but i didn't want to drown you. so i waited for you to wake up." he was talking fast, too fast for you to fully understand his nonsense.
"hello to you too." your voice was still weak but you felt much better than at the race track. you quickly took a few sips of water before jude tried drowning you for good.
"what's that ?" you asked pointing at the cloth still laying on your face.
"some website said that's what you're supposed to do when your irresponsible girlfriend faints." you hid your face in your pillow at his accusatory words.
"no, but seriously y/n. do you have any idea of how worried i was ? imagine if something wrong happened. god, i knew i shouldn't have let you race..." his words had an angry tone to them and you were confused as to why jude was mad at you over hypothetical scenarios.
"but nothing wrong happened, i even got points. are you not proud of me ?"
"are you being serious right now ? you know i'm always proud of you, points or no points. but you think i'm gonna clap for you after putting yourself in danger like that ?" jude's tone got somewhat angrier but he kept going.
"fuck, when you fainted i already saw myself explaining everything to your mum. you can't take those risks, especially when you drive a fast car for a living. you can understand that right ?"
you felt tears well up in your eyes at his words, thinking about how worried he must have been this whole time.
"i'm sorry, it's just... i've been thinking about the championship a lot. i guess that clouded my judgment." you wiped away your tears quickly, before jude could notice them but it was too late.
"hey, hey, hey... you shouldn't be saying sorry to me, you probably spent a worse weekend than i did anyway. i'm not mad at you but at the situation, alright ?" his fingers stroke the wet spots under your eyes, wiping what was left of your tears away. "i'm proud of you, and happy for your points. but you're not winning a championship by making your dangerous job even more dangerous." his voice and his eyes were soft and you felt your chest get significantly warmer.
"you're right..." the room got silent for a couple seconds at your words.
"what was that ? i couldn't hear you babe" jude had a shit-eating grin on his face and you knew exactly what he wanted, and it almost made you physically sick to give him this satisfaction.
"i said... you'reright." you tried getting those terrible words out as fast as you could, but he wasn't happy with that.
"mmh mmh, that won't do... say it nice and loud for me love." you felt your face heat up, both in fluster and embarrassment at his words.
"you're right." your words had a defeated tone to them, but jude decided that would be enough by the way he didn't taunt you anymore.
he moved and got under the covers with you, even though you were gonna have to get up again as you were both still dressed. he just wanted to share this little moment of peace with you.
"you know, it's crazy how you drive the fastest car in the world but can't survive singapore's heat for a weekend." you playfully elbowed jude's ribs at his teasing.
you were grateful to have someone like jude to support you and your intense lifestyle, but also someone to talk about silly little things, legs tangled under the sheets.

𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: ethan’s mysterious sickness leads to an unexpected confession
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: sickness, pills (advil)
𝐚/𝐧: was kinda rushed and also tumblr was acting up when i was trying to write this, but i hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
ethan woke up to a sudden feeling of nausea, and a headache that pounded relentlessly. you and him were supposed to go study in the library later that afternoon, but there’s no way he would get anything done in this condition.
he managed to lift himself out of bed, feeling extremely weak. he trudged to the bathroom, every step seeming to add exhaustion to his already tired self.
he arrived, and lazily opened a cabinet to grab the thermometer and some advil. he reached to the back where the medicine usually was, only to find nothing. he looked around, searching for something that would bring relief, however nothing was there.
in the meantime, he grabbed the thermometer and stuck it under his tounge. he waited patiently, as the numbers kept going up.
103 degrees fahrenheit. a decent fever, and if he didn’t take medicine soon, it might go up. he exited the bathroom, hoping to find chad.
ethan was too sick to go out, so chad would have to pick up some advil for him.
unfortunately, chad was nowhere to be found. ethan pulled his phone off the charger to call him. he clicked on chads contact, and waited as the phone ringed.
chad picked up shortly. ethan was more of a texter, so he knew something must have been wrong. before chad could mutter a word, ethan began talking.
“hey man, have you seen the advil?” ethan grumbled, sounding sickly and sleepy.
“i just finished off last week. midterms had me stressed, man. it should be on the grocery list. are you sick?” chad responded. ethan looked, and it was in-fact on the shopping list, next to the goldfish.
“yeah i feel like shit and have a fever. where are you?” ethan asked, hoping chad was near, and could run by the pharmacy and pick some up.
“dude, i told you this last week. me and mindy drove up north to visit some family this weekend. im sure y/n would gladly pick some up for you, though.” chad replied, and ethan could sense his smile through the screen. ethan thanked chad, before hanging up.
you and ethan were good friends, although he wished you were more. he was talking to chad one night, when he accidentally let it slip that he had a huge crush on you.
chad, being the blabbermouth he is, immediately told tara. when tara found out about ethans crush, she almost overflowed with joy. she knew the feelings were reciprocated, as you talked about him all the time. ever since that night, tara and chad had been trying to get you together.
however, every time tara mentioned you asking ethan out, you shut her down. you told her that he probably didn’t feel same, and that you valued your friendship with him to much to ruin it. tara fought the urge to tell you about what chad had said, but she promised she wouldn’t say anything, so she kept her mouth shut.
ethan felt bad, but he knew he had to text you. you were curled up on the couch, watching netflix, when a notification popped up on your phone.
ethan 🪼
hey! im think im sick,
so im going to have to cancel
on our study sesh :(
you read his message, and your heart filled with worry.
you
im sorry you don’t feel good,
eth.
do you need anything?
ethan 🪼
actually if you don’t mind,
could you pick me up
sone advil? we ran out and
i was supposed to go the
grocery store today.
you
of course
send me your grocery list and I’ll pick everything up 4 you
ethan 🪼
you really don’t have
to do that y/n
you
seriously, it’s nothing. plus, i was at your dorm yesterday and there was literally no food
ethan 🪼
thank you so much
*one image attached*
you rush and throw on some baggy grey sweatpants, pairing it with a navy blue sweatshirt that drapes over one shoulder. you throw your uggs on, and rush out the door. you try your best to be as quick as possible, knowing of ethan’s poor condition.
the grocery list was filled with mainly junk food, so you decide to buy some fruits for the roommates. you also buy ingredients for your homemade chicken noodle soup, hoping it will help with his health.
you pay and head to his dorm, while you stress over his condition the whole ride. you park your car in the parking garage, and carry the several bags of groceries up to his floor. ethan had given you a spare key a couple weeks ago, so you fumbled with your keychain until you found it and unlocked the door.
the door flung open, and you found ethan on the couch, looking like a zombie. a show played quietly on the tv in the background. you rush to the chaotic kitchen, and set the items down on the counter. you fish around in the bags, looking for the meds. you found the bottle of pills, and set them down beside the groceries. you open the cabinet and find a large water bottle, and fill it up to the brim
you take the water and the advil over to him, placing it on the coffee table. he’s half asleep, so you shake him a little, so he is aware of your presence.
“hey. take your medicine, and make sure to drink some water. i’ll clean up around here.” you whisper to him quietly.
he groans in response and swallows the pills, before laying back down on the couch. you head back to the kitchen, and start putting away groceries and cleaning up his previous messes. you wipe every surface down, until everything is completely spotless.
then, you move onto his room. you rip the sheets off his bed so you could wash them, and grab the spare ones from his closet. you neatly make his bed, and fluff up the pillows. besides his bed, almost everything else was put away and it looked nice. you disinfected his table and all of the door knobs, then went back to the living room.
you shook him a little again, waking him up, and you led him to his bedroom. he immediately plopped down on his bed, chasing sleep. you grabbed his phone and the water bottle from the other room, and placed them on his nightstand for when he woke up.
you then went to clean up the living room, which surprisingly wasn’t that messy, besides a few pillows and blankets scattered across the floor.
it was around one pm, so you started making lunch, and it would probably be dinner, too.
you poured the chicken stock into a pot, and then placed it on the stove, heating it up.
you swiftly dice some vegetables, and throw them into the pot, along with some shredded chicken. you seasoned it to perfection, and then added the uncooked pasta once it was boiling.
while it was cooking, you cleaned up the mess you had just made, and did the dishes. it was weird how easily and efficiently you tightened up his apartment. normally you would dread doing these chores, but since it was for ethan, you didn’t mind.
you turned down the heat once the noodles were fully cooked, and tasted your delicious creation. just on time, ethan woke up from his nap and entered the kitchen. he looked a lot better now, not nearly as delirious.
“seriously y/n, you didn’t have to do any of this.“ he says, yawning a little.
“like i said, it was nothing. are you feeling any better?” you respond back, now ladling the soup into a bowl for him.
“a little. thank you, really.” ethan said. you handed him his lunch, while reassuring him that it was no big deal.
you made your own portion, making sure to turn off the stove once you were done. you took your bowl and sat next to him at the table.
“wait, i might get you sick.” ethan warns.
“we’ve spent every day for the past week together. if it’s contagious, i probably would have gotten it by now. also, i don’t mind getting sick if it means i can spend this time with you.” you respond, looking at his gorgeous coffee brown eyes. you needed to tell him how you felt.
“ethan, i care about you so, so much. way more than a normal friend should.” you say to him, but he just tilts his head in confusion.
“what im trying to say is that i really like you. i want to be more than friends. i know you haven’t dated anyone before, and i’m perfectly okay with taking it slow. if you don’t feel the same way, please just tell me now.” you confess to him. now it was ethans turn to spill his guts.
“i’ve liked you since the day we met in econ, y/n. i want to be with you, no matter what happens. would you wanna go out sometime, officially?”
“more than anything.” you say, a smile now plastered on your face.
ethan drags you back to his bedroom so he can take another nap, and you decide to read. you sit crisscross on his bed, back leaning on the bed frame. he cuddled up to you, laying his head in your lap. a couple minutes later, he was fast asleep. you pull out your phone to snap a photo, them text tara.
you
turns out you were right

Half-Ghost Billy Batson
(Inspired by a post that I can’t find😡😤. If you recognize it please let me know! I have searched. Everywhere. I remember it starts off with Billy contemplating how he’s different and his dad didn’t want him, and then Danny shows up.)
Danny Fenton grows up, gets crowned King of the Infinite Realms, and then discovers that time it weird in the Zone if the portal you came through doesn’t stay open. He’s been ruling for over a century, but it’s only been a few years on Earth. Early on he made sure to keep popping in and out to visit family and friends and keep up a human identity, and so was able to age normally too.
By the time he’s 25 (2015), he’s in a serious relationship with a woman named Mary Batson, and has decided to tell her about his other life. Before he can however, he is ‘killed’ in an explosion at his civilian job as an engineer.
He’s fine, but was weakened enough that he reverted to his core, and Clockwork retrieved him and took him to the Realms to heal. He does, goes discreetly looking for Mary, and discovers it been a year and she died in a car accident. Heartbroken, and with no civilian identity anymore, he starts spending all his time in the Zone, only making weekend trips to see family/friends.
Unknown to Danny, Mary was pregnant, gave birth, and little William ‘Billy’ Daniel Batson was saved via emergency C-Section after the accident and placed in foster care, because she had no family and no one looked into the father’s well enough. Mary only survived long enough to name her son and give them Danny’s name.
10 years later, Billy gains the title of Champion of Magic. The influx of so much magic also triggers his… other genes.
As Billy, he is faster and stronger and heals quicker and if he concentrates really hard he can turn invisible and walk through things— at least for a few moments. He also discovers that he’s essentially a cat, since he can hiss and purr and randomly sprout claws.
Billy only uses a mirror if he needs to give himself a haircut, but the next time he looks he notices the tiny little baby fangies. And that his eyes are more teal than blue, his hair has a few white spots in it, and his ears point a little more. No wonder no one’s been bothering him lately.
(He’s basically 75% human and 25% ghost, so unless he gets hosed down with pure ectoplasm and also eats a bunch of the stuff, he’s not going to be able to ‘go ghost’. He’s just hasn’t got enough Phantom in him to manage it.)
As Captain Marvel, the magic of his patrons and the Rock of Eternity kinda work as a counter-measure against the partially-dead thing, as the magic sees it as a threat to the Champion’s health and fights the genes’ effects like it’s a virus. So the magic is basically shutting down all of the actual powers he gets as Billy. But he does get little things that the magic doesn’t care about, like sharp little fangs and pointy ears.
Billy just thinks it’s all side effects of the magic, and uses his new ‘adaptations’ as Billy to survive on the streets.
The Justice League comes knocking about 6 months in, meet this huge chipper dude who can evenly match Superman and uses magic in a way that causes other magic users headaches and rage, and invite him to join.
That’s when they notice that he’s a bit… strange.
Not like, in a bad way! Just, the other day Batman did the ‘appear behind you from nowhere’ thing and when Marvel noticed he full on hissed at him, like a feral cat, before looking sheepish and apologizing.
A few weeks later, they’re rescuing some kidnapped meta kids and they find Marvel sitting cross-legged on the ground, several toddlers draped over him and a very distinct purring noice emanating from his chest.
A week after that, and Superman confides worriedly that sometimes Marvel’s heart will just… stop beating, and/or he’ll stop breathing, and that when his heartbeat is gone there seems to be a strange hum coming from the center of his chest.
Then another 2 weeks later, after a meeting, he and Flash were talking and they both laughed, but when Marvel did he just flashed these very sharp incisors that Flash swears are fangs.
And then one day they call him in to help fight some demons and one growls at him and he freakin growls back, bares his definitely fangs I told you so! And just freakin launches at the thing. They basically roll around like a couple of territorial tomcats, and at first Marvel is throwing punches and lighting but then the demon bites him and Marvel just… bites back.
And then he like… sprouts claws?! And then it really is like a cat fight, with these two just hissing and growling and clawing and biting until Marvel does something and the demon breaks away and flees, whimpering like a kicked dog. Superman has to snag Marvels cape and dodge some claws to keep the guy from chasing after it.
He’s covered in claw marks and scratches and there’s blood like everywhere but once they drag/convince/bully him into going back to the Watchtowers medbay, there’s nothing. The wounds are gone, the blood is fading away, and the suit is repairing itself. Marvel just shrugs and says magic, which, fair enough.
But then they have to have a talk about what the hell that was, and all Marvel can say for his feral-cat behavior is “I just heard him growl and had the uncontrollable urge to bite him. Like, he’s in my territory, and he’s gonna challenge me like that? Heck-no.”
…Territory? Territory?! What does that- does this possibly-immortal being consider all of Earth his territory? Is he secretly a Fae? An eldritch being in less terrifying form? Part demon himself? A cat transformed into a person?
Marvel shrugs.
“I never met my parents, so honestly any of those have a chance of being true.”
Oh No. Oh F*ck. Those were rhetorical!
Meanwhile, Danny is back on Earth and finds out from Tucker that Mary had a kid. They discover this because he was reported missing after he ran away and the cops tried to find out if there was any more family, and do a better job looking this time. Danny is ‘dead’ so they called the Drs Fenton, who told Jazz, who told Tucker, who dug around and realized oh sh*t, Danny has a son.
But they can’t tell Danny this, because some a-hole in a different dimension is trying to invade the Infinite Realms, so Danny has to go kick a**. The time in the other dimension is weird too, so several years pass on Earth by the time he stops the threat, locks away the demon Trigon, and finds a nice home in the Realms for the demon’s half-human orphaned daughter Raven, who fits in very well with the ghosts.
So, Danny’s back and between Tucker and Danny they figure out what city Billy is in, and Danny spends days flying around invisible feeling for any ectoplasm. He finds it, finds Billy facing down some wanna-be teenage gangsters, and watches with growing pride as his son hisses at them with his widdle baby fangs oh my Ancients!
So after the other kids flee from the ‘crazy demon kid’, Danny invisibly follows Billy back to his current hideout in the basement of an abandoned warehouse (only someone Billy-sized or smaller would be able to fit through the window, and then they’d have to do it again to get into his little blocked-off closet. Smart. Very smart. I have such a smart kid, the family will Love him!)
Danny doesn’t want to freak his kid out— strange man+small space=bad no-no— so he just settles himself in front of the exit and starts chirping. Calling.
Billy, who has never heard the sound before, still knows what it means. Can’t resist following it out of his hidey-hole. Sees the man, cross-legged on the ground, sees his blue eyes flash green-green-green and knows.
“Hi, Billy. Is so good to meet you!”

The breakup was amicable. You stayed friends and, sure, you didn’t hang out as much as you used to - for obvious reasons - and, yes, you did try to get out of any gathering that you knew he was going to be at. Still, you were civil. You could be in his presence.
And yet, all of that didn’t explain why the mere mention of him joining his best friend’s birthday trip to Las Vegas, had you circling around the room like a madman.
“I hope you’re fucking joking” you whine through the phone, earning a sigh from Yeosang.
“You’re blowing this way out of proportion”
“Am I?”
After talking your best friend’s ear off for minutes on end, that sounded wrong to your own ears.
“How did you not realize? San is Wooyoung’s best friend, of course he’d be there!” he reasons, as if you need a reminder that you are being ridiculous. “Plus, he’s taking a huge leap of faith in inviting you both”
“Listen, it was months ago, he didn’t use the group chat to invite us, I didn’t put two and two together. I had a lot on my plate! And hey, we’re civil!” The silence that meets you is so loud. You sigh. “Sorry for the dramatics, it’s been a long day”
After all, you are still recovering from having to dash home in a downpour. And having to stay after hours to have a long, unnecessary meeting with your head of department. Realizing your ex-boyfriend would also be joining your long weekend getaway was just the cherry on top.
“I’d say sorry for springing this up on you at the last minute, but then again, I could’ve just waited to see your face tomorrow” you hit him back with a real funny, Sang, smiling when you hear him snort. The line goes quiet for a second. “Do you want me to come over? We can head to the airport together in the morning” Yeosang says softly, a silent peace offering.
“Are you kidding? Have you seen the weather?” you look out the window, the rain’s still unforgivingly pouring down.
“Unlike you, I don’t refuse to drive in dire conditions” he pokes fun.
“You’re on thin fucking ice, Kang Yeosang”
“I’ll be over in ten” you could basically see his amused grin. You let out a chuckle hanging up. Then you press a hand to your forehead, trying to soothe the headache starting to form.
Choi San is the boyfriend. The one you never thought would leave. The one parting from hurt like nothing you ever experienced. The one you eventually bounced back from, but did you really? Because it still feels as if he was a part of you, just as much as you are a part of him. And when he left, you had to re-learn how to go through life with a missing piece.
He’d been your best friend, the person you ran to for everything. Someone you loved so much that it scared you sometimes because you knew just how much it would kill you to lose him.
Choi San is the one that got away and took a piece of you with him.
But what could you do, after months of healing and avoiding him, when your friends were his friends too? Declining invitations got old fast. The first time you saw him again, you thought you could handle his presence for the night. And you did but cried the whole way home. After that, no more. With time, it got better. Seeing him no longer left you with a sinking feeling. Of course, it isn’t like before, but it never could be, and you made your peace with that.
Still, after one year, you microdose on San, afraid of what could happen to your heart if you spent too much time close to him. It’s for your own sake, your peace of mind. That’s why, when it finally clicked into place that you’d be spending a whopping four days in his presence, you flipped.
The doorbell pulls you from your thoughts, and a smiley Yeosang holding a bottle of wine greets you. You should have known better than to accept alcohol as a peace offering from your best friend. Most of all, you should know that it never really ends with just one bottle. Because now you are incredibly hungover, severely nauseous and totally late for your flight.
“This is all your fault” you hiss as Yeosang asks the Uber driver to please hurry. Both your phones are annoyingly dinging with unread text messages, not helping your headache at all.
“Excuse you?” he turns around, tone accusatory. “As far as I remember, you were the one who brought out the tequila”
“Well, you didn’t stop me”
“You were crying!”
“Even worse!”
Your bickering is brought to an end by the screeching halt of the car in front of the airport. You ignore the severe wave of nausea it causes and get out, Yeosang right in tow. Incessant teasing and half-hearted blame tossing accompanies your run through the airport.
With just five minutes to spare, Wooyoung’s screeching hyena laughter welcomes the two of you at the gate. Surely the matching sunglasses and coats thrown over your pyjamas are a sight to behold, you think as you hug your friends hello.
“Birthday boy!” you pull Wooyoung into a big hug, giggling when he sways you both back and forth.
“Thank you for coming” he already said that months ago, when he first proposed the idea, but right now - with San’s eyes on you - the sincerity in Wooyoung’s somehow shines brighter.
“Thank you for having me” you smile genuinely. The breakup put a strain on your group of friends for a little, and you wanted to make sure he knew how much you appreciated him wanting you here. He squeezes your hand, before moving to Yeosang.
“We need to go, you’ll say hi in eleven hours when we land. Chop, chop!” Seonghwa rushes everyone to join the last few people in line. You let go of Mingi, laughing, hearing Yunho say something along the lines of they literally just started boarding, and follow the rest. You finish saying your hellos through boarding, finally facing San.
As you always do when it comes to him, you push down whatever mixed feelings bubbled up in your chest and put on a smile.
“Hi, San," you wave, so you're stunned when he just spares you a quick side hug, smiling curtly after greeting you.
Your friends had long stopped holding their breath whenever you two are in the same room, but this feels off. Like a splash of cold water, it sends you back to the first, awkward time you met up again. Nobody seems to notice though, apart from Yeosang. Unlike the rest of your friends, his gaze still lingers on you carefully. You subtly nod at him, like you always do.
Sighing, you keep walking beside your best friend, not really able to shake the disappointment San’s cold greeting leaves you with. Despite your best efforts, you let it eat away at you during the flight, the car ride to the hotel and the moments you unpack. No amount of berating does it. Why would he behave like that? Is this all in your head?
It’s not like you two would usually have heart to hearts but you talked, at least. You were friendly. So you don’t get why suddenly San is being so distant. For Wooyoung’s sake, you promised yourself you’d do your best to ignore it all. Be the bigger person and not get involved with whatever bullshit had his panties in a twist.
A whole day into the trip and you had to resist the urge to punch him in the face for behaving like an immature teenager multiple times. But you keep contact to a minimum. Complain to Yeosang in the comfort of your hotel room. Take several deep breaths. You aren’t good at this whole maintain-inner-peace thing.
“I just wish he would stop ignoring me”
The view from the panoramic terrace of the hotel is breathtaking, but, margarita in hand and sunglasses on, you find yourself not fully appreciating it. Not when you are using your time away from the rest of the group to vent to your best friend. Again.
“Ah, so you do care” the way Yeosang wiggles his eyebrows makes you want to wipe off that smirk on his face.
“No, I don’t” he doesn’t look too convinced. “Seriously! He’s just making it hard to get along with him”
“Or is his distance making you think about stuff you don’t want to think about?” you hate how much your best friend knows you. You let out an exasperated sigh.
The last thing you should be thinking about was your ex, but you can’t help it. He wouldn’t usually behave like that and, you had to admit, it threw you for a loop. Not to mention how you despise the way you still catch yourself thinking about him. It’s subconscious at this point and it's been hard to accept. Had he finally moved on? Were you the only one left running in circles inside your head?
No matter how much distance there is between the two of you, he’s still there, in a corner of your mind. Like a phantom pain, he follows you in the most mundane of things. The frozen aisle at the supermarket still reminds you of his favorite ice cream brand. When buying Christmas presents, your brain immediately goes to the one thing he’s been obsessing over. The reminders zap you like an electric shock, bringing you back to reality. San is a friend now - they say. Nothing more, nothing less. And so you’d berate your heart for acting like he wasn’t. You’d put down the tube of mint-choco ice cream with a sigh, and choose fucking socks as a present.
“Promise we won’t change?”
It was hard to make out the look on his face through the tears in your eyes. You never thought breaking up would hurt this bad, like giving up a piece of you. It felt like the end of the world. Of your world. One where you could no longer navigate life with San.
“You’ll always be my best friend” he murmured, lips against the skin of your neck. You felt the wetness on his face, too. “We’ll go back to how it was before”
But how could it? Now that you knew what it was like to be loved by him, and what a thing it was to love him. Against all hopes, that night, you hoped he was right.
No amount of space was ever able to lessen the strain the break-up put on your already existing friendship. You keep it amicable, for everyone else’s sake, but it just isn’t like before. It could never be. You both broke that promise, one that perhaps you shouldn’t even have made.
You’ve long realized that it’s closure that you need. Because the two of you healed separately, but never really talked about it together. It’s a conversation you need to have if you intend on being around each other. What scares you the most, though, is the possibility of something happening. Or rather, of you letting it happen. You aren’t so sure about San. If you truly want to let go, you need to know.
The dings of your phones pulls you from your thoughts.
meet in the lobby in an hour-ish? we’re going out!
You share a look with Yeosang, knowing birthday celebrations are due tonight, and Wooyoung isn’t about to hold back.
“Let’s go” your best friend offers an encouraging smile, walking back to the room with you.
-
The second you go down to meet with your friends, you feel yourself stumble on your heels and almost wish to find a way out of this dinner party. Now, you aren’t a stranger to San’s beauty, you never were. But holy fuck, how you wished that he was still yours. If he were, you could saunter up to him and tell him just how breathtaking he looked with his unbuttoned white shirt and slicked-back hair. The knowledge hits you like a train and leaves you breathless.
You need a drink.
And, boy, do you get one.
You don’t remember the last time you had this much fun. Wooyoung sure knows how to party. The dinner went quite smoothly - safely hidden between Yeosang and Mingi, you didn’t spare much attention to San, not that he spared you any - and soon after the birthday boy dragged you to a club.
“Sunshine!” Wooyoung appears out of nowhere, stealing you away from your impromptu dance battle against a buzzed Mingi. “Don’t you look stunning” he compliments, twirling you around, flirty as usual. You cackle, throwing your hands on his shoulders.
“Thanks Woo, you look dashing” you wink back, dancing with him.
“You shouldn’t be saying that to me,” he laughs. The confusion in your eyes must be enough for him to elaborate. “I noticed you’ve been eyeing a certain someone… who happened to be eyeing back”
“Who?” you’re going to fight this. No way.
“Don’t play dumb now” his face gets closer until his lips are pressed against the shell of your ear. “If looks could kill, I’d be dust right now. So would be Mingi” you gape at him, watching as he smiles amusedly.
“Wooyoung, we’re not going to talk about me and him during your birthday party”
“Oh, please! My birthday wish is for you two to get back together already!” homeboy is drunk. Your jaw hits the floor, and you smack his arm. He just laughs harder.
“Wooyoung, what!? You can’t be serious”
“Come on! You’re both incredibly oblivious about your feelings. It's getting sad” he groaned in frustration. “You’re still obviously hung up on each other and I can’t take it anymore, it’s excruciating! Take me out of this misery”
“There’s a reason we called it quits, Woo” you deadpan, taking a step back from him.
“And it’s a stupid one,” he looks like he’s about to say more, but he can’t.
“Alright enough” because Yunho, your saving grace, intervenes. “We’re going back to our booth” he shoots you an apologetic smile, half dragging the birthday boy away and back to the others. You don’t know how much of the conversation he caught, but judging by the good-natured scolding he’s doing, it was enough. You sigh, deciding it’s time for your well-deserved drink. As soon as you reach the bar, you claim the last free stool for yourself.
Wooyoung’s words won’t leave you alone. They keep bouncing around in your head louder than the booming music. Was it really a stupid reason? But most of all, how drunk does he have to be to insinuate that San is still in love with you? That you are still in love with him?
You nod to the bartender when the drink lands in front of you.
The night you broke up is a tangled up mess of emotions and memories you rarely ever allow to resurface. At first, it hurt too much, and then, just like everything else San, you tried to forget in order to move on. But if you think long enough, you still feel him slip away from you, the hollow in your chest when you woke up the morning after and his head wasn’t resting on the pillow beside yours.
Lazily, you toy with the straw of your drink.
It was something about work and it keeping you apart that drove a wedge into your relationship. The nights when one of you would pass out waiting up for the other started to become the norm. The arguments that the lack of each other’s presence fired up outnumbered the sweet talks you used to have over dinner.
Bitter words were spoken, and everything crashed and burned to its fateful end. The mutual decision to break it off before you broke the other seemed the best option. You never truly gave yourself time to think if you regretted it, afraid that bringing it up would only prevent you from letting San go. So, you foolishly swept it under the rug.
And now, here you are, downing your drink in response to the wave of emotions Wooyoung’s words elicited in you. Trying to ignore how your skin crawls every time the man sitting beside you lays his eyes on you. Inching away every time he tries to talk to you.
“We’re leaving” there is no mistaking his voice, but it feels so foreign. You turn around, facing him. His unreadable eyes send a chill down your spine. You lift a brow in question.
“You’re drunk,” San shrugs. “I’m taking you back to the hotel”
Who does he think he is? Looking down at you from his high horse of righteousness, worrying about you like he cared. You scoff.
“‘M not and you most definitely aren’t” you turn around in your seat, facing away from him.
“Are too, come on” San’s hand reaches for your arm, turning you back around and trying to safely get you off the stool.
“And what’s it to you?” you finally snap, shrugging him off. “You haven’t spoken more than two words to me the whole trip, why do you care now?”
Despite your resolution not to cry, or not to care, you feel tears stinging in your eyes. So much for not letting him phase you.
“Yeah, let go man” all hopes of getting out of this situation are ruined the second the guy sitting beside you speaks. You roll your eyes, bracing for what’s to come and cursing yourself for not leaving the bar after getting your drink. “Who are you to ruin their fun?”
“I’m their boyfriend”
Of course.
But you can’t deny that the way he says it - like he very much believes it - moves something inside you.
San doesn't waste any time and doesn’t wait for a reply. His fingers wrap around your wrist delicately, making goosebumps cover your skin. His hold is familiar, warm and it makes you feel like crying. Too stunned to speak, you let him carry you through the stuffy club, not even bothering to apologize to the people you bumped into.
It takes way longer than you’d like to get out of the club, and the lump in your throat is getting harder to ignore by the second. Suddenly, you don’t feel like blaming San all that much for ignoring you.
Once the cold air of the night hits you, you free yourself from his firm grasp. San stops dead in his tracks, looking at you. You can’t do this right now. You worked so hard to keep things civil between you two, you can’t fight with him on Wooyoung’s day. Knowing that one more word from him would break you. You take a deep breath.
“You just had to do that, didn’t you?” Clearly, it didn’t work.
“And here I was, thinking I was going to get a thank you”
You point a finger at his chest. “I can handle my own, San” and there it is, that look on his face that tells you he knows better. He knows you. And for a moment, you hate that he’s right. For a moment, you hate him for fucking with your head. “And you know perfectly well what I’m talking about”
“Do I?”
“What do you want me to tell you, San? You’ve been acting all distant and righteous these past couple of days, and then you pull this stunt?” This is most certainly a conversation you don’t want to have in the middle of the street, but oh well. “You could’ve just asked if I wanted a ride back to the hotel, there was no need for all that”
A gust of wind blows by, making you shiver. When San moves closer, all traces of his anger gone, you stand still, holding your breath. Dumbstruck, you follow his every movement. San peels his jacket off, only to drape it over your shoulders. Something he’s done a million times before. A melancholy so strong pulls at your heartstrings. You didn’t think he noticed. His touch lingers a second too long, eyes looking into yours as if asking if what he just did was alright.
“Thanks” you mumble, watching him step back. The warmth melts your anger away as much as it messes with your head. You don’t like how the air shifts and becomes heavy with the weight of words left unsaid.
But what would you even tell him? That, apparently, for how much you tried, you can't move on? That he lingers in your mind, in your heart, your apartment. That he’s still all over you, and you don’t know how to shrug him off – you aren’t even sure if you want to.
“I miss you” the words leave your lips before you have a chance to stop them. You definitely shouldn’t have drunk tonight. San’s eyes are on you in a split second, but yours stay focused on the pavement. You can feel his gaze putting you on the spot, begging you to say more. You don’t.
“Me too” he speaks so quietly that his words almost get lost in the night.
San waves a taxi over and helps you in. The whole ride back is quiet; you’re a second away from bursting into tears, having finally realized the extent of your feelings for San. Only cursing Wooyoung for being right keeps you in one piece until you reach the door to your room.
You go to unlock it and turn around to give him his jacket back. Not being surrounded by his scent sends your heart to your feet. You can’t believe all the work you did not to feel like this anymore has gone to shit.
“Thank you,” you say once more, before turning to step into your dark room so you can cry to your heart’s content and pretend none of this happened in the morning.
San’s hand grips yours, stopping you in your tracks. When he whispers your name, you’re done for. One second you’re about to hide in your room and the other he’s turning you to him. You can see how he's looking for the words to say. You know that expression all too well, you recognize the furrow of his brow. Then e pulls you closer and the breath gets knocked out of your lungs. He’s closer than he’s ever been in a year and pressed as you are against his chest, you’re afraid he might hear the way your heart is furiously beating.
His sorry eyes are scanning every inch of your face, or so you think, blinking back tears. Under his gaze, you’re burning. Because you want him to let you go and hold you closer at the same time. His hands on your hips are still delicate, you can break free at any time, but you’re not sure you want to.
Your breath hitches when his forehead connects to yours, you can’t breathe, you can’t think-
And then he’s kissing you, and it’s like coming home. It tastes sweet like your drink and bitter like the whiskey on his tongue. You’re unsure if the saltiness is from your tears or his. It’s familiar and your gut tells you that it’s so right, so good that you push yourself closer, lose yourself in him. San’s hold on you is almost bruising, and he’s kissing you like you’re the only thing he’s ever known. Like he used to when he wanted to show you just how much he loved you-
You push away from him like you’ve been stunned. His confused eyes search your face, asking what’s wrong. You clear your voice, but no words leave your mouth. So, when he calls your name with a voice so fragile that it makes you shiver, it’s all you can do to bid him goodnight and finally lock yourself in your room.
Your lips are still tingling, you still feel San’s mouth on yours. In the darkness, a sob wrecks you. You’re supposed to be over him. You spent so much time trying to be. Your heart shouldn’t be breaking this way; for the time you lost trying to forget him, for how all your efforts were in vain.
“Let me in” though muffled by the door, his voice makes you jump. “Please”
Another loud sob escapes you, and you curse yourself for not stepping away from the entrance. Of course, he’d stay. Of course, he’d hear. Well, you can’t run now, can you?
When you open the door, San’s head shoots up. He goes to take a step but hesitates. You simply open the door wider, and he visibly relaxes. After letting him in, you close the door and turn on the lights. The silence is thick, and you almost can’t breathe.
“I’m sorry” he starts, catching your attention. “I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have… I shouldn’t have done a lot of things these past few days” despite your tears, you manage a scoff.
“Why?” it’s all that leaves your lips, but you know he’s caught on. You’re met with silence. Disappointment spreads like wildfire in your heart. He doesn't even have an answer - you bitterly think.
“So you’ve got nothing to say for yourself?” you push, starting to feel the anger bubble up inside. “You know how hard I’ve tried to make this trip work for Wooyoung's sake? For all our friends' sake? So that they don’t have to walk on eggshells around us, or invite us out one at a time?”
“And I haven’t!?”
“Oh, don’t sound so surprised, San!” you take a step closer. “We were doing alright, why’d you have to go and act like you have a stick up your ass whenever I’m around? Wooyoung’s your best friend, for crying out loud!”
“Don’t act all high and mighty! Have you ever considered, hell, even ever stopped to think-”
“Have I?” oh, if he only knew. “Have I? All I ever do is think, San! You’ve haunted all of my what-ifs ever since we broke up. So you can’t go ahead and pull shit like this when I’ve been trying my damn best”
Your voice is thick with emotion and your throat feels tight. The deafening silence that meets you makes your ears ring. San visibly deflates and the way he speaks is in open contrast to how you just did.
“Would you keep trying?” you don’t remember the last time you heard him sound so small. Still, his eyes are so full of determination.
“Why would I?” you ask, defeated. It’s like a flip switches inside him.
“Because I love you! I still love you”
Time stops, and for a moment nothing exists but you and your racing heart. It’s going so fast you fear it might beat out of your chest, or that he might hear it. It’s so loud that it rings in your ears. A surprised gasp escapes your lips: you understood perfectly fine, you just can’t believe the words he just so desperately uttered.
“I’ve been in love with you longer than I can remember. I loved you when I thought I’d never get to tell you again. I loved you when loving you quietly and at a distance was all I could do, but it was alright as long as I got to love you”
“San…”
“I’m sorry for earlier. I’m sorry for these last couple of days. There’s no excuse, but I just…” he sighs, closing his eyes. You go to take another step, but all determination to do so dies when you see him produce a little velvet box from his pocket. Your breath hitches and a sigh of his name leaves you. “All I could think about leading up to this trip was our first anniversary. You remember how we joked about eloping in Las Vegas?”
It seems your tears won’t stop flowing. You can’t believe he remembers. It was such a small thing, it takes you a second to connect the dots. It was a comment thrown around, something you said to make him laugh. Though you remember thinking that if he’d asked, you would’ve said yes in a heartbeat.
“I’ve had this since then” hope sparks in your heart, though you’re not really sure you’re even breathing right now.
“San-”
“Don’t. I know this is so incredibly stupid, I don’t even know why I brought this with me-”
“Ask me” finally, finally he looks up at you and there’s no doubt in your mind. You still love him, you always have. You always will.
“What?”
“Choi San, ask me or I will” he’s blanking, frozen in his spot. So, you get down on one knee. His eyes widen and you hear sounds of protest. Suddenly it’s a race on who’s speaking first, both on your knees, face to face. You’re giggling like idiots, tears in your eyes.
“I thought that I could manage life without you” he starts, and you let him intertwine your fingers. “I thought we could go back to being happy without being in love. That we’d be better at a distance, but I was so wrong. The only thing that matters is that you make me happier than I ever thought I could be, and if you let me, I'll spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way. Fighting to make us work. I already made the mistake of giving you away once, I'll never make it again"
"Will you marry me?”
You waste no time in kissing him, big smiles barely making it a kiss, but you don’t care. You don’t care because San just asked you to marry him. Because he’s lifting you up and spinning you around and kissing you like he’ll die if he doesn’t. And for the first time in a while, you’re happy. So happy you could burst, laughing like you haven’t since you let him go.
“Do you think we should go get married?” he asks, swaying you around in his arms. You stare up at him, snorting.
“Maybe let’s wait till tomorrow, when our friends aren’t drunk off their faces, you know?” he chuckles, looking at you like you’re the only thing that could ever hold his attention. How could you ever convince yourself even for one second that you didn’t want to fight for him?
bonus:
Yunho’s slowly munching on a croissant, head resting on Mingi’s shoulder – who’s barely awake. You fear Wooyoung’s not even on your same astral plane right now, forehead against the table and hand gripping a coffee cup for dear life. Yeosang’s head is thrown back against the wall, he’s sipping slowly at his own coffee. It almost makes you think that you and San walking hand in hand could go unnoticed.
“Is that a ring?” you should’ve known Seonghwa’s sharp eyes wouldn’t miss it. After all, he’s the only one remotely awake. That, and he’s the only one not wearing sunglasses at the breakfast table. Lethargically, your friends’ faces emerge from behind the shades. Various sets of eyes squint in your direction as you come closer.
“Holy fuck you got back together” surprisingly, the voice is Wooyoung’s, though he sounds exactly like he just came back from the dead.
“Technically, we got engaged,” San points out. The words have barely left his mouth that suddenly his best friend is up and asking what, how, when, and why?! Eliciting various groans and shut the fuck ups.
“My birthday wish came true!” he throws himself at you both, squeezing you in a hug. Over his shoulder, you look at Yeosang. Despite his tired face, he smiles at you. So do the rest of your friends.
“Alright so, wedding tonight before we leave?” Wooyoung smirks all too enthusiastically, and you hear Seonghwa mumble as long as we drink juice, eliciting a round of quiet laughs.

You'd been friends with The Group Chat boys for a while, so they'd decided to invite you over to their place. Nick had a few ideas for some new vlogs, while the rest of them just finally wanted to meet you in person!
After a good few hours that seemed like forever, your flight finally landed in Austin. Larry and Yumi were there to pick you up! Larry got out the car, waving you down like a NPC. "Y/n! Over here!" You sighed, laughing a bit as you sighed. This would be an interesting weekend. "I'm coming!" You yelled over, dragging your luggage behind you. Larry picked up your luggage and shoved it in the trunk of Yumi's car. "Let's go! Let's go, let's go!" Larry spoke loudly as you got in the backseat.
Yumi shook his head, looking aggravated as usual. "God, could you not, I have a headache. Also, hi, Y/n." Yumi spoke a bit quieter than Larry. "Hi, Blake." You smiled politely, pulling out your phone to distract yourself on the way to their place.
The car ride was relatively quiet, not an awkward quiet, more like a comforting one. Larry surprisingly didn't say much, you assumed it'd get more chaotic once you got to the house. After about twenty minutes, you pulled up to the official group chat house. "We're here! Y/n, get your shit and lets go!" Larry rapidly opened the car door and ran inside.
Yumi groaned, "... What a little shit." He got out the car after he turned it off, opening the trunk and grabbing your suitcase. "I got it, don't worry." He gave you a soft smile, which you honestly.. didn't expect from Yumi. You nodded, "Thank you!" ... Was his face red? No, there's no way. You're going crazy.
You walked into their house, and it was actually relatively clean. That's new, considering the pictures and videos you've seen. "Wow, for a guy house, it's pretty clean." You hadn't seen Isaac standing in the hallway, "Well, hello to you too!" You jumped, "Jesus Christ! Hi Isaac!" He smiled, coming towards you, then embracing you in a hug. "It's so good to finally meet you! Like, in person." You nodded, "Yeah! It's super good to be here!" He patted your head, "Flight wasn't too bad, was it?" You shook your head, "Not at all! Just felt like forever." Yumi put your bag down by his room's door, which.. was a bit weird. You just brushed it off as a nice gesture, maybe they didn't have a guest room.
Yumi looked a bit peeved for some reason, so you'd just decided to leave him alone for now. "So, where's Nick?" Isaac nodded, "Oh, he's out at the store grabbing some things, I'm supposed to go meet him.. uhh.. Now, actually. So I do have to go! Obviously we have all weekend to hang out, so.. Larry! You're coming with!" He groaned, "WHAT?! Make Blake go! I don't wanna!" Isaac looked over at Yumi, who still looked a bit annoyed. "... Nah, you're coming with me. Go get in the car." Larry groaned, "Fiiiiine."
Soon enough, Isaac and Larry were out the door and gone. Yumi sat on the couch with a bag of chips, "So, you and Isaac got a bit close, huh?" You turned to him, deciding to sit by him. Not too close, but.. closer than you probably should've. "What, the hug? I mean, I didn't make anything more out of it than just a friendly hug." Yumi nodded, "Mm. Any shows you like? We can watch something while they fuck around at the store." You shrugged, "Dunno. I don't really watch TV anymore. I'm too busy." He nodded, understanding the struggle, since he was busy working on his new album as of recently. "Uhh.. We can just put on Stranger Things or something. I don't know shit about TV anymore either." You gave a soft chuckle at that, and you could've sworn you saw his face go red again.
You nodded, "Sure! I've heard good things about it," You paused, stretching out your legs a bit, "How's your new album coming? I know you're supposed to release it soon." You could've sworn you saw his eyes light up, "Oh! Uh, yeah. It's supposed to release tomorrow, actually." You nodded, "Oh! Sick, I didn't know it was so soon." He laughed a little, "Well, if you'd look at my Twitter, you would know." He teased. "Oh, whatever! How many songs are on it? Can I get some special Yumi insight?" He shrugged, "Huh.. I mean, why not? There's 8 songs on it." You leaned back, putting your hand on the side of you. "Ooh, okay. I can't wait."
Yumi looked towards you as Isaac and Nick walked through the door. "Oh! I thought you guys would take longer! Also, hi Nick!" Nick smiled, but squinted at Yumi. "... Hey, Y/n! Blake hasn't been too much of a," He coughed, "Flirt, has he?" The word 'flirt' was barely intelligible. "Sorry?" Yumi turned a bright red, causing him to whip his head away from you so you didn't see. Nick waved his hand at you, "Sorry, allergies. He hasn't been too much of an asshole, has he?" You shook your head, "Not at all! He's been pretty nice, actually!" Nick smirked, "I wonder why."
After the other boys had retreated to their rooms, Yumi scooted closer to you. You'd thought nothing of it, you didn't want to make it weird. "So, where am I sleeping? I'm fine with sleeping on the couch if there's no guest room." Yumi shrugged, "Uhm.. Hm. I mean, I have an air mattress in my bedroom you could bring out here and use." He suggested, looking towards you as he rested his arm on the back of the couch. His arm was almost wrapped around you; you couldn't help but feel like a lovesick teenager. "Y— Uh, Yeah! I'm fine with that." You wished you could just stay in his room with the air mattress. No, there's no way. You don't like Yumi. Yumi, the lovable asshole who yells, the silly guy who lets his friends give him botched haircuts, the really, really attractive guy that— oh no.
Yumi noticed your face go red, "Are you hot or something? I can turn down the AC—" Isaac popped out of his bedroom, sneaking up behind the couch. "Oh my God, KISS ALREADY!" You both whipped your heads around to see Isaac's tall frame looming over both of you. "OH MY GOD ISAAC!" Yumi yelled, swatting him away from the couch, which made him retreat back to his room with his hands up in defense.
"... What's up with him?" You looked Yumi in the eyes. His face was as red as a cherry. Did he like you as well? Are you actually not crazy? Oh my God. Yumi sighed, "Look, he's teasing because he knows something, uh," He paused, taking a deep breath. "I do like you, Y/n. Like, a stupid amount. I feel like a stupid teenager with a high school crush, but it's so much more than that," You paused him by putting your hand on his shoulder.
"Blake. I like you too."

Modern Witcher AU: My Headcanons: (part 3 of ?)
Geralt smells of coffee, caramelized sugar, kerosine, and mineral oil. The sugary scent is from his favourite fragrance (Vanilla Woods—The 7 Virtues) and it mingles well with his natural body chemistry and environmental scents. It’s very subtle but distinct and it works shockingly well for him.
Jaskier is determined to figure out what fragrance Geralt wears but is looking in all the wrong places. He assumes some of the “masculine” notes from the environment that linger on his skin and clothes are a part of the perfume. It takes Geralt explicitly telling Jaskier to look in the feminine and/or the unisex sections (of fragrantica) for him to actually do so and finally get put on the right track.
Jaskier smells of lavender and chamomile. His hair also retains the smell of his shampoo exceedingly well so he always smells clean. He uses solid fragrance that’s reminiscent of “Chamomile and Lavender Milk Tea” by The Dua Brand. It has notes of honey and raw almond milk that gives it a good balancing effect and works well with his body chemistry.
Jaskiers extended family organizes regular family reunions at grossly lavish locations at least once a year. Most of his family besides his parents and a few cousins don’t know about his cross-country road trip… or Geralt. When Jaskier brings Geralt along one year to a reunion at a rented out ski chalet he wants to make sure Geralt makes a good impression. Little did he know, most of his family would adore him and think he is such a doll. Geralt had no less than two people at any given time chatting with him for the vast majority of the weekend. As an introvert, he was exhausted by the end of each day. Jaskier is secretly convinced his family loves Geralt more than him after just a few days; however, Jaskier is more than happy to show him off so it never really bothers him much.
Geralt has a stiff gait. It stems from extremely tense muscles in his hips and lower back as a result of so many hours on the road and not enough proper stretching. Jaskier makes it his personal goal to get Geralt into physiotherapy and at the very least, flexible enough to touch his toes comfortably again.
Geralt’s nausea inducing alcohol of choice is tequila. Eskel’s is flavoured vodka. Lambert loves to get a reaction out of them over it.
Geralt can't have tequila (especially margaritas) anymore because of the near-two day hangover he had after drinking with his brothers on New Years Eve one year. Not even the night he came of age could compare to the sheer amount he knocked back that night.
Eskel's grievance against (lemonade) vodka started after a night out at the bar in his early 20's. He doesn't remember how many times he threw up that night (and he doesn't really want to either).
Lambert can hold his alcohol well but gets hangovers extremely easy, unlike Geralt and Eskel who rarely get more than a headache that's readily manageable with a single ibuprofen capsule. Lambert started keeping a bucket under his bed for this exact reason. He doesn't have a gag-inducing alcohol because if he did, all options would be exhausted with the amount of times he has been ill after a night out.
Geralt’s personal vehicle is a baby blue rust bucket of a pickup truck. It’s a sturdy but rough looking 1990 Ford Ranger.
Eskel drives a grey 2013 VW Jetta that was not taken care of too well by it’s previous owner. It’s a secondhand shitbox but it’s his secondhand shitbox.
Lambert refuses to buy his own car and when he’s not working, he makes Vesemir or his brothers drive him places when he can’t/doesn’t want to catch the bus.
Eskel gets extremely bad caffeine withdrawal symptoms since he has a much lower tolerance and rate of consumption than Geralt, who has a worrying dependency. Geralt says he's fine, but his blood pressure says otherwise.

His Curls (PedroPacalxreader) part 3
You are sick, but Pedro comes to the rescue. It's just sweet and fluff.
Tumblr media
3.
It was Friday and you were supposed to spend a wonderful weekend with Pedro, but everything was going wrong.
You've been feeling bad since morning. You had a headache, you were cold and you were coughing. You barely made it all day at work. Even holding the scissors required unearthly strength from you.
When you got home you realized you were sick and you had to cancel your meeting with Pedro. It really broke your heart. In a week he was supposed to start filming the 2nd season of "The Last of Us". You knew it meant a long separation.
Pedro answered on the first signal.
"Hola, princesa!"
You almost sobbed heared the joyful tone of his voice.
"Pedro... We have to cancel..." You had to take a cough break. "...our weekend. I'm sick."
"Oh, honey, I'm so sorry."
"I'm sorry," you whispered.
"Shh, it's not your fault. Do you need anything?"
"No" you lied.
You knew you had an almost empty fridge. You were supposed to do some shopping after work, but you were too tired.
"Okay. Take care baby."
"Bye, Pedro."
You groaned and laid down on the couch and curled up in a ball. You felt bad. Not only because of the disease, but also because of Pedro. You wanted to see him so much. You sighed heavily and turned on whatever TV show came your way.
*
An hour later you heard the doorbell ring. You had no idea who it could be. You barely made it to the entrance. You opened the door and...
"Your personal doctor has come to the rescue!"
You were so amazed. Your boyfriend, Pedro Pascal, stood in the doorway with two shopping bags.
"But how?"
You let Pedro in. He put the bags in the kitchen and walked over to you. He took your face in his hands.
"Honey, I literally heard you crying over the phone and... I know when you're lying. So I assumed you needed everything."
He started emptying the bags.
"I bought orange juice, I got noodle soup from your favorite restaurant, I bought a thermometer and medicine for fever, cough medicine... And... Close your eyes."
You obeyed his command and felt him place something soft in your hands. You opened your eyes and saw a green hoodie with Grogu ears on it. You squealed satisfied. You'd be jumping for joy if you were healthy. Pedro was clearly pleased.
"I was going to give you this before I left, but I figured now was a better time."
You cuddled up to him and sighed as he wrapped his strong arms around you.
"Thank you, but... You shouldn't be here. You might get infected."
"Don't even say that. I won't leave you." He kissed the top of your head. "You will now eat the broth, take your meds and go to bed."
You groaned in dissatisfaction.
"I hate lying in bed."
Pedro shook his head.
"That's why I'm here. I'll be your personal warm blanket and pillow. What does that sound like?"
"Much better."
*
Once your stomach was full, you took your pills and headed for the bedroom. As soon as Pedro lay down next to you, you climbed onto his chest and started stroking his hair. Pedro chuckled and asked:
"I don't know why you're so obsessed with my hair?"
"Because I'm a hair stylist? And your hair is sooo soft and beautiful..."
More shivers ran through your body and Pedro pulled you closer to his body. You rested your head against his chest and sighed. Your fever was still high, and it made you mumble.
You always haved that. When you had a high fever you would start saying stupid things like you were drunk.
So it was also this time.
"I'd like to dye your hair pink? Yeah... Piiiink" you whined. "You would look sooo good with pink hair."
Pedro laughed slightly. Well, he was still worried about you, but your sleepy mumbling was so sweet.
He ran his hand across your forehead and murmured.
"Pink? Okay, honey, but why don't we get back to the pink thing when your fever drops."
"And purple..."
Pedro kissed the top of your head.
"Okay. Whatever you want."
Satisfied that she is so close to you and agrees with you, you finally closed your eyes and fell asleep.
*
Two hours later you woke up and Pedro was lying next to you, leaning on his elbow and looking at you. You stretched and rubbed your eyes.
"How do you feel?"
"A little better... A lot better, actually."
"That's good, but I'll stay with you all weekend anyway and look after you ."
"Thank you."
You were so happy to have someone so wonderful and loved by your side.
"As for the pink hair..."
You opened your eyes wide and Pedro laughed.
"Did I say that out loud?"
He nodded.
"I promise I'll let you do it someday. Just not now. I doubt they'll let me play Joel with pink hair... Hmm, maybe when I be filming The Mandalorian. After all, I wear a helmet anyway."
You started laughing and hugged him. He was gorgeous and... He'd really look good with pink hair, or purple, maybe blue? You had so many crazy ideas in your head.

“Y/N, are you studying again?!” she heard her roommate, Ava, speak from the door. "It's Saturday." “Scholarship holders never rest.” Y/N shrugged without taking her eyes off the notebook. She had only been at the university for a month, it was true, but if she wanted to keep her scholarship she would have to keep high grades and would only be able to do that if she gave up the fun time that many of her colleagues enjoy on the weekend to study twice as much as studied in their classes. Even if it generated a headache and a pain in the wrists of writing the notes so much, which would be very useful in the exams. "Hey." Ava walked over and stamped her foot until Y/N faced her. “I invited you two other times to frat parties.” "Ava, don't get me wrong but I'm not the party type." she remembered. Y/N doesn't consider herself a geek. She likes to study and make friends, but she also likes silence and especially doesn't like to waste her energy with frivolous frat people. Could she be considered an introvert? Perhaps. “This time it's not a frat party, it's just a date with friends.” Y/N looked at her suspiciously. "Really." "How many friends?" “Five plus the two of us.” Y/N pondered. "Oh come on, Y/N, you owe me." Y/N took a deep breath and dropped the pen on the table, a pang of guilt in her heart making her slowly back away from the books. That was true, she had promised Ava that if she had a more private party, she would. Now she had no excuse. Ava wasn't the party type either and she'd been a great colleague lately. "Fine!" she nodded and Ava jumped on top of her to hug her shoulders tightly as she thanked her with a huge smile on her face. "I'm just going to change." Ava agreed and left the room, saying that she would wait for her roommate outside the dorm.
Y/N sighed before taking off her prescription glasses and rubbing the eyes. Maybe she needed to get out and forget about the subject. She put on comfortable clothes, a salmon hoodie with a cute design of a dinosaur snapping a bone and saying 'delicious', blue jeans and white sneakers, and went downstairs to meet Ava. The two walked a little until they went to another dorm, Y/N just followed her colleague and soon the two were in front of a door and Y/N joined her sweating hands, when the door was opened by a boy with long hair and of two colors, she smiled nervously. Ava hadn't said her friends were so cute. “Y/N, this is Renjun, we attended creative drawing class together.” Ava introduced and Y/N reached out to greet him, receiving a very gentle and quick shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Renjun." she spoke sincerely and received a welcoming smile in response. “Likewise, Y/N. Please come in.” he made room for them to do so. “Make yourself comfortable, the boys have arrived.” Y/N turned to face Renjun. Boys in the plural? Did Ava only have boy friends? Y/N wasn't the type to worry about what others thought, she could live well without the expectations of others on her, however she didn't want to make a bad impression on the first guys she met at university. Okay, her focus wasn't on dating or getting involved with anyone, but she also didn't want to be known as Ava's weird friend. The colleague pulled Y/N in with her, both took off their shoes at the entrance while listening to voices and laughter, when they entered the room accompanied by Renjun, the eyes were directed at them. Y/N saw only two boys. One had honey-colored skin with dark hair falling over his eyes that highlighted his round face and heart-shaped lips, the other had slightly lighter skin and hair bleached a platinum blonde, almost white that were slicked back and left his forehead exposed, making him look more serious even though the smile said just the opposite. When he saw the two of them, ran to hug Ava in what felt like a really tight hug. "Jaemin, you're crushing me." she complained, patting his arm. He pulled away with a pout. "I know you like." he winked with one eye and she rolled her eyes, pointing at Y/N. “This is Y/N, my roommate.” Y/N smiled slightly when saw him staring at her and held out her hand, but contrary to what she had thought, Jaemin hugged her as tightly as he did Ava, if not more. Although she was taken aback, she noticed how Jaemin's hug was as welcoming as Renjun's smile. "Welcome to the club." he spoke after walking away and Y/N smiled shyly but thanked him. “This is Donghyuck.” Ava pointed at the other boy as Jaemin moved out of the way. “But you can call me Haechan.” he commented and extended his hand, Y/N shook it with her eyebrows together. "Why?" she asked curiously and he smiled widely. "Oh no." Jaemin complained. "Here we go." Renjun spoke behind them. Haechan approached and Y/N who froze in place, he put his arm around her shoulders and the proximity made her blush violently as Haechan started to walk towards the kitchen. “You know, cutie.” he started talking with a wide smile. “Don’t scare her, Haechan!” Ava asked and Y/N could hear some laughter. “Each group has its stars, but like the sun I’m the biggest of them all.” Haechan shrugged with a funny expression that made her laugh. “So you decided to name yourself full sun.” she guessed and he nodded. "It's a good nickname." he continued and as the two were entering the kitchen, two more guys were leaving. Y/N smiled shyly as she saw a boy with black hair and black eyeglasses, he accompanied another boy who was talking excitedly but both stopped when they saw Haechan with his arm wrapped around the neck of an unknown person. The other boy had gray hair with certain shades of purple and pink that were already faded and fell over his eye and had the prettiest face in the entire university. "Don't talk to those losers, Y/N." Haechan looked serious and Y/N turned to face him and noticed the playful smile, but she didn't even have time to reach out to the guys like she did to Renjun as Haechan took her to the kitchen. "It's the closest you get to a girl anyway." Y/N heard one of the two speak and held back a smile as watched Haechan roll his eyes. "I hope you like eating junk food, because that's all we have in this dorm." He said opening the lockers and Y/N laughed. Y/N and Haechan shared the packages to take to the living room, he wasn't kidding about the food, the most varied sweets and sodas were in their hands and when they got to the living room, put everything on the couch and Renjun got up to organize the snacks and candys. Y/N noticed that the colored haired boy was on his back talking on the phone and Ava approached her with the black haired boy when Haechan started to argue with Renjun about some chocolate that had just magically appeared there. "Sorry I couldn't introduce myself, please don’t listen to 80% of what Haechan says." he was serious but then laughed. "I'm Mark." “Y/N” she greeted him with a quick handshake. "Don't worry about Haechan." "I already warned her that some of my friends were kind of idiots." Ava assured and Mark laughed in a good way, Jaemin called him and he went, leaving the two of them alone. “The boys are going to order pizza, is that okay for you?” "Sure!" Y/N replied, looking back at the boy again. He was the only one she hadn't had a chance to properly greet, not even knew his name. "Who's that?" she asked curiously and Ava looked in the same direction as her. “Jeno, the captain of the football team.” Y/N looked back at her colleague in shock. “Wait, is he the captain?” she kept her voice low and her finger itched to point at him. "You look surprised." Ava chuckled lightly, making Y/N shrug as looked back at the boy. She had been at the university for a month and already knew how popular the football team was, probably one of the most important activities there and that stopped the entire university. When she thought of football players, pictured the typical pick-up-sized beefy bad boy who only mingled with the cheerleading squad. And hearing that the captain of the team was the most handsome guy in the university helped to imagine the American stereotype of the movies and ok, it wasn't right but in high school it was always like that, she imagined that in the university it would be no different. And she was completely wrong. Jeno didn't look like the typical team captain, let's face it he was much more handsome than could have imagined. "And I’m, when I heard about him, I never would have thought he looked so… normal." she commented even more quietly as she saw him get off the phone with a wide smile, approaching Jaemin and Mark. Y/N felt a slight twinge in her stomach, he must have been talking to his girlfriend. Guys too handsome were rarely single or alone. “You will see that nothing they say is really true.” Ava put her hand on Y/N’s shoulder and called her over to the boys. Y/N was still shy, she really didn't expect her roommate's friends to be so beautiful. She had lived with many boys in her classes, after all she was the only girl in the class, but none of them were like that. None of them had Jeno's side smile, not that she was paying too much attention to him. Or maybe she was. “15 minutes for pizza to arrive.” Jeno warned in a soft tone and Y/N blushed. Mostly because Jeno's voice was sweeter than it should have sounded in her ears, even though it was husky enough, and because she'd concluded wrong. He wasn't talking to his girlfriend, he'd just ordered the pizza. That didn't mean he was single, of course. ‘Why do I care if he has somebody?’ she thought. As soon as the pizza arrived, they settled into the living room and started talking as they devoured the first box. “Wait, you study music?” Y/N asked Haechan after the subject of each other's courses took over the room. “I thought you did Theater.” "Because he's a clown, yeah, everybody says that." Renjun spoke and everyone laughed except Haechan. “Talented has changed its name now.” More surprising than that, only to find out that Mark did literature and Jaemin medicine. “What about you, Y/N? Ava said you don't stop studying even though you've been here for a month.” Renjun ignored Haechan. "I do aerospace engineering." she replied, not holding back the huge smile and everyone stared at her. "Do you want to be an astronaut?" Haechan asked, confused and received a slap on the back of the head from Mark. “She said engineering.” “Oh Milk, it hurts.” Haechan complained, holding the back of his head while pouting. “Actually, when I was little, I wanted to travel to the moon.” she laughed lightly. Child dreams. “Now I’m content to build rockets.” she shrugged and received encouraging smiles. Although Jeno so far hadn't directly exchanged a word with her, he was also smiling with his eyes practically closed, which she found extremely cute. Y/N lowered her head shyly. “I wanted to be a firefighter when I was a younger.” Jaemin said and then took a sip of his juice. "Only because of the girls." Ava spoke and Y/N looked up to face her, seeing rolling her eyes. Ava and Jaemin were like siblings, they'd known each other for so long and had teased each other whenever they could. "Hey, they love a man in uniform." he replied, shrugging his shoulders. "And you love a girl who can't be trusted" Haechan remembered and Jaemin looked at him offended. “Says the guy who sneaked into the women's locker rooms so he could see the ballerinas changing clothes.” “Haechan, you did that?” Ava asked, shocked. “I was fifteen!” he defended herself. "Yeah, and he kept doing it until he finished high school." Mark spoke and Y/N put a hand over her mouth to contain the loud, incredulous laugh. As Haechan tried to defend himself and Renjun told that he almost got caught for it, Y/N looked away and noticed that Jeno was still smiling at her, she took the hand away from her mouth but kept her gaze fixed on him. Jeno had the darkest, brightest eyes she'd ever seen, and they were so intense it made a strange feeling fill her stomach. It wasn't the twinge she'd felt earlier on seeing him on the phone, it was a kind of heat. He didn't even blink as looked at her, as if he didn't want to miss any detail of what seemed to be a kind of curiosity, almost as if he wanted to decipher her and Y/N started to feel the palms sweat. Now it wasn't just her cheeks that burned, but her whole body. “And you, Jeno.” the bubble that the eyes were in had been broken by Ava, and Y/N looked away quickly so that no one would notice that they were practically talking through the exchange of glances. Too late, Jaemin watched them with a raised eyebrow. "What's your ideal type?" Y/N felt her heart speed up with the question, mainly because she also wanted to know, trying to look nonchalant she looked back at Jeno who was staring at her roommate and saw him bite his lower lip, before turning back to face Y/N with the same intensity. “Smart and reserved girls.” replied without taking his eyes off her and Y/N had to clench her jaw to keep from dropping. She wasn't the most experienced girl with guys, but she noticed the atmosphere in the room getting different. It was just an impression or maybe her deepest desire, but had Jeno flirted with her in front of everyone?
[...]
Friday had been the football team's debut in the championship and the entire campus seemed to be in the best-known fraternity, and also the biggest. Celebrating the 4x0 victory was the excuse everyone needed to get drunk and make out in the corners of the house. Y/N had just arrived, arranged with Ava to meet at the frat after the game, now that she was more used to the university, could walk around campus without getting lost. She looked around trying to find her roommate’s red hair but couldn't, in fact she didn't know if it had been a good idea to have gone to the party. Yes, she was a student and had watched the game, and celebrated like it was a world cup final. But she wasn't used to that atmosphere, loud music, lots of people, wasn't exactly what she liked to do on a Friday night. However, she had promised herself that would allow herself a day off from study, or else she would go crazy before the semester was even over.
“Lost?” heard a husky voice close to her ear and turned around in shock, finding the smile that hadn't left her head since. She dreamed a few times of that same smile and maybe was embarrassed to look into the same dark and bright eyes. “Oh hi Jeno.” she smiled shyly and fixed her gaze on his face. "I was looking for Ava but I don't think she has arrived yet." "She left the stadium with Billy." he spoke and put his hands inside the pants pocket. “Billy? The goalkeeper?” Y/N asked, curious as she tried not to sound too obvious in analyzing him. Jeno had his hair half wet, must have showered after the game before coming to the party, a white t-shirt under the team's famous red and white jacket. He was plain and yet managed to be the most handsome guy on campus. “Yeah, they have an unfinished business. I think." Jeno shrugged and Y/N nodded in agreement. It wasn't as if she'd asked Ava if she was involved with anyone or that her colleague had felt the need to talk but now realized she was going to be alone at the party. And as much as she wanted to have fun, didn't feel comfortable enough to blend in without Ava's help. "Well, then I'm leaving." Y/N looked into nowhere and started walking towards the front door. "Wait." she felt Jeno's hand gently grip her arm and she turned to face him, he was closer than before. “If you want, you can spend the party with us.” He pointed back to where part of the football team was standing talking and let go of her arm as she was silent for a moment. "I don't want to bother." she replied, shy. "You must want to celebrate the victory." Y/N wasn't faking it, she really didn't want Jeno to call her just out of obligation. She didn't want to disrupt the party for him, even though she realized that Ava not being there wouldn't make a difference anymore. "I can do this with you by my side." he smiled once more and it was enough for Y/N to melt, feeling her whole body heat up like the day they met. "I don't know." she bit her lip uncertainly and noticed that Jeno watched the movement. "I insist." he was serious and kept his gaze fixed on hers, making it clear that he wouldn't take no for an answer. Y/N sighed and smiled in agreement, and then Jeno's eyes lit up and he gave space for her to go ahead, Y/N felt her whole face on fire and pressed her lips together to hide the gigantic smile that wanted to appear. Jeno introduced her to all his teammates and their partners, she didn't know who was a girlfriend and who wasn't, but she wouldn't ask, mainly because Jeno seemed pretty excited to keep her talking and she felt really welcomed. And it was during this conversation that she noticed how Jeno drew attention, and in the way he politely dumped most of the girls who arrived already caressing his arm, this of course increased Y/N's ego as tried to convince herself that it wasn't because of her. He might just not want to be with anyone because was exhausted from the game. Jeno seemed to have his attention fully focused on her, he always made a point of including her in the conversation, asking what she thought and she felt so comfortable that sometimes when she laughed even put her hand on his arm. They were closer, literally. A scream echoed through the whole house and caught the attention of everyone who turned in the direction, before Y/N could understand what was happening a huge circle formed between the dining room and with more screams of excitement. “The party has started now.” one of the team members spoke and pulled his companion to follow him to the circle. Apparently everyone wanted to watch as suddenly the corner they were in started to get too full and made Y/N approach Jeno, the bodies practically touching and she could see from a gap between the students that a girl was leaning on the table and with her blouse lifted to below her breast, her exposed belly was sucked by another student. "What are they doing?" Y/N asked a little louder as the chatter between the students was much more constant than before. “Body shot.” Jeno replied and she stared at him, noting how his jaw was so well defined and seeing that she was staring for too long at him, he turned to do the same. “Why, you never did?” he raised an eyebrow and Y/N shook her head. "No, I mean, I don't usually drink." she admitted and saw Jeno stare at her somewhat shocked. "Anything? Never?" "No." Y/N looked back and suddenly a glass was held in front of her face, she noticed the big hand with the veins standing out and it went up the whole arm, followed by the shoulders, neck and face. "What?" she asked, waiting for Jeno to answer because he had a glass held out to her but all she got was the sight of Jeno turning the other one he was holding in his mouth and gulping it all down. "Let's change that." he nodded towards the glass and Y/N held it, fearfully, but the electricity that passed through her body as touched Jeno's fingers gently as she took the cup from his hand made an instant courage take over. She tipped the glass and felt her throat rip and burn, her eyes watered and she grimaced, then felt Jeno hold her hand and there was just time for her to put the glass on the shelf behind her before he took her with him. “Wait, where are we going Jeno?” "You won't feel like a real student here until you get your first drink." she opened her mouth to ask what he meant but when she saw him make room between the students to get to the table, she understood and didn't have the strength to answer because she didn't really want to. "It's practically a tradition." Y/N felt her heart beat too fast when Jeno stopped her in the middle of the circle and took off his team jacket, leaving it on the table while took a bottle from someone's hands. He looked at her expectantly and she put her hands on her hips, not caring about the looks of the other students who seemed to want her to quickly do what would be proposed. "Are you sure?" she asked and Jeno just blinked, and his free hand went to the hem of the t-shirt he was wearing and bit his lip. With a naughty smile he pulled the shirt from his body and Y/N felt her whole face burn as tried to keep her eyes away from Jeno's abdomen, in vain of course. She heard screams of approval but nothing could make her lose focus from Jeno's exposed skin, he was defined. Very well defined. She didn't know if it was already the effect of the drink she'd had before but this time she looked him up and down without guilt and without being discreet, from the green shoes, the black pants that now showed a part of the underwear he wore, the abs that she managed to count the six-packs, the muscular chest, the strong shoulders and the irresistible neck. Y/N had never felt her mouth water just looking at a shirtless guy, but this was the first time and had to admit, she liked the way her body had reacted. "So." Jeno turned to put his shirt on the table and seeing his back, Y/N bit her lip to control a moan. “Fuckin hot.” she said, muffled between her teeth and saw Jeno turn once more. "What? What did you say?" "Me?" pointed to herself and saw him nod in agreement. "Nothing!" “Okay, hold that.” he handed the bottle to Y/N and did as he said, saw him sit on the table and then lie down. She felt her hand shake at the sight and had to hold the bottle in her other hand. "You throw the drink wherever you want on my body and just..." he pointed at his body and she blinked a few times. “Suck?” Maybe it was part of the alcohol going to her head but Y/N could swear to see Jeno's pupil dilate. “I would say drink, but yeah, that too.” and there was his smirk again, Y/N almost considered drinking the bottle she was holding so her cheeks would stop blushing. "Fine." she spoke, her voice weak and approached. She studied the exposed skin one more time, holding back a sigh and wondering which place would do that. She still didn't believe that she was about to drink from Jeno's body but since she was there, would take the opportunity. She stopped at his neck and didn't have to think twice, her own body made her get closer and spill the liquid from the bottle in the middle of his neck, it slipped backwards and a very small trail followed between his shoulder, Y/N lowered her head enough and closed her eyes before sucking the drink from Jeno's body. With her free hand she leaned on his arm and the moment her tongue found his warm skin, she felt him shiver and boldly followed the drink all the way to his shoulder and back to his neck, leaving no trail and the only wet path left was her own saliva. When opened her eyes and could see the red mark she'd left behind, realized she'd sucked harder than necessary and lifted her head, finding Jeno looking on with such desire that she felt her body shake. The surrounding students shouted encouragement and approval, but none of that made them look away. Y/N could see a flame in Jeno's dark eyes that until then had never noticed in any other boy. Other students arrived to continue the attraction and Jeno pulled on his clothes with one hand while holding Y/N with the other, leaving. They reached the entrance of the fraternity and Jeno left Y/N's hand so he could put on the clothes, the cold of that night had made his hot body shiver and she couldn't look away. Jeno cleared his throat and Y/N stared at him, embarrassed at having been caught drooling over the boy's chest for the second time that night. "I think I'll go home." she didn't know what time it was, only that she was tired. "I accompany you." Jeno assured and she couldn't say no. Mainly because she didn't want the night to end, she'd had the opportunity to meet Jeno and she wanted more. So much more. Y/N walked next to Jeno feeling the world around her spin, she also didn't know why was smiling so much. In fact, her body knew why, but her head already was in the clouds. Feeling like it was a dream. They went to her dorm in a silence that wasn't the least bit awkward. Jeno was more like her than realized. Y/N felt a shiver down her spine when Jeno said that he would walk her to the door, why was she suddenly so anxious? The dorm hallway had never been so quiet and peaceful, the only noise echoed was the Y/N keys that she fiddled with nonstop inside the pocket of the jacket she wore. They stopped in front of the door, she felt her heart thudding so hard that felt it against her ribs and tucked the hair behind the ear, not knowing what to do. Well, she knew what she wanted to do, but even though she had alcohol in her veins, still wasn't so uninhibited as to make it possible. "Do you want-" She didn't even have time to go on, Jeno had already advanced on her and grabbed the back of her neck, bringing her up to collide their mouths. Y/N had the sound of surprise muffled by Jeno's mouth, which opened quickly so that their tongues finally met as she approached his body and gripped his jacket tightly. She felt the other arm wrap around her waist and lost herself in the fast, delicious dance that the tongues provided. Y/N felt her whole body tingle as Jeno bit her lower lip lightly and brought it with him, in response she pulled him by the jacket and although her lungs ached from lack of air, she only bothered to grab his neck from both sides and pull it towards her. She heard Jeno laugh amusedly but when their lips met, he brought her closer and the hand on the back of her head grabbed her hair tightly, making the kiss deeper and started to walk forward, when the loud thud of the bodies slamming against the door Y/N felt her legs give out. Her body was being pressed hard by Jeno and it was heating up way too fast, but felt her body practically erupt as he spread her legs with his own knee and placed it in the middle. The heat he gave off and the force he used to hold her against the door was causing the air to be lost much faster, so they had to move away and Y/N reached into her jacket pocket to grab the key, the task of turning to unlock the door would have been easy if Jeno hadn't kissed down and turned his attention to the back of her neck, his hands gripping either side of her waist. Jeno brought a hand to her stomach and pressed it against his torso as soon as she managed to turn around, the kisses on her neck continued and she had to bite her lip hard as felt Jeno's arousal build against her ass, her hands were shaking and that damn key didn't come in right away, Y/N almost kicked the door but before she did, managed to open it. Jeno pushed her into the dorm with his body still pressed against hers and closed the door as best he could while Y/N turned to look at him. Lips red and parted for the heavy breathing to pass, eyes blinking slowly as he reciprocated the exchange, chest rising and falling at a rapid pace. Y/N felt her legs go weak again just watching him. He was the most handsome boy she'd ever seen and been close to, he didn't want to leave with anyone else but her. Jeno, the captain of the football team with the face so beautifully drawn and surreal, was there with her, the girl who swore not to get involved with anyone her freshman year at university. She didn't even believe in her own luck. Y/N put her hand on the back of Jeno's neck and pulled him to start a new kiss, sighing when before closing her eyes saw Jeno completely surrendered, this time the kiss was slower so they could taste each other and discover what they had missed before. Jeno's lips were as warm as his hands that cupped Y/N's face, the thumb slowly caressing her cheek. And she realized right there that could kiss him forever. But they both didn't just want that slow pace, so the kiss became more sensual and Y/N's hands went to his shoulder, feeling the jacket between her fingers, her head didn't have time to suppress the urge to start taking it off. Okay, that piece of cloth was insignificant at the moment and it was getting in the way. Y/N's bold hands tried to take off his jacket in a hurry and that made Jeno laugh against her lips, but that didn't make them pull away. In fact, as soon as Jeno's jacket was lying in some corner of the dorm he pulled her by the waist against his chest and she gasped in surprise at the collision, her hands gripping his shirt tightly as he sucked on her bottom lip and started walking forward. Y/N felt the back of her knee hit a hard surface and Jeno's body forced her to  lean back, as soon as felt her back hit the soft mattress, she broke the kiss and sucked in a breath with some difficulty. She opened her eyes the same second Jeno lowered his head to kiss her jaw, she reasoned a little better now and realized that Jeno was propped up on his elbows so his body weight wouldn't crush Y/N. However, had to bite her lip and one hand went to Jeno's bicep and the other between the strands of his hair when she heard the sound of his kisses on her skin, wet kisses that made her whole skin crawl. "How did you know this was my bed?" she asked, surprising herself with such a weak voice. Jeno laughed and Y/N felt the delicious breath hit her skin. "You have a moon lamp." said as he trailed kisses down to her neck. Y/N laughed, stroking his hair. It was too obvious. Pretty predictable. Jeno pulled back enough to look into her eyes. "You taste strawberry with vodka." he spoke, his husky voice sounding a lot sexier than Y/N had expected. And that had an effect on her body. Jeno smiled mischievously before kissing Y/N's neck again, she smiled but closed her eyes when felt him suck her skin a little more willingly. Oh okay, so he would retaliate for what she had done at the party. "Jeno." She whispered, without strength and felt him bite the place lightly, another shiver and she was already fully surrendered, completely at his mercy And then Jeno seemed to get impatient as much as she was starting to get, the jacket was making her back sweat and feeling trapped so she was grateful as Jeno knelt on the bed and pulled the jacket off, tossing it anywhere. "Are you sure?" Jeno asked, so subtly it didn't seem to belong in the moment. Y/N nodded and held the edge of the shirt he was wearing. "I want you, please." her eyes pleaded for Jeno and he smiled the way his eyes practically closed. Too cute for the moment, he didn't look like the same guy who was pressing his thigh against her. Y/N tried to pull the white shirt and Jeno helped, Y/N's fingers left the shirt and started to trail the exposed skin of Jeno, completely hypnotized. God, how wished she'd done that at the party. She ran her fingers gently through the well-defined six-packs, seeing Jeno's skin crawl and she smiled proudly. He was huge and she could only admire him as if he were a sculpture. When she looked up to his face, Jeno was looking at her differently. It wasn't cute anymore, it was carnal. Almost animal. She could practically feel his dark irises burning her face with such desire. Unable to control herself, Y/N placed her hands on Jeno's waist and approached to place a kiss beside his belly button. And another. And another. She started to kiss the exposed skin but suddenly that wasn't enough, not after hearing Jeno sigh. She needed to suck the skin the same way she did at the party, she didn't have a bottle of alcohol there but she didn't need it now because wanted to do it sober, or at least not so drunk as to forget. She wanted to engrave in her memory the texture, the taste, the noises that Jeno was trying to contain. She felt Jeno's hand grab her hair and pull her up, Y/N managed to kneel awkwardly and Jeno didn't make a show of taking Y/N's shirt off quickly, as soon as he passed it over her arm, he grabbed her by the waist and kissed her again. Y/N shivered again as Jeno's fingers trailed down her back and down to her breast, she expected him to grab it but he only teased her by keeping his fingers there in a too slow caress, causing her to throw her hip against his. Jeno broke the kiss and one hand went to Y/N's bra strap and pulled it back far enough to kiss the newly exposed skin, which made her throw her hips against Jeno's again. She needed more. She wanted more. Restless, she grabbed Jeno around the waist and kept their bodies together as she lay on the bed and pulled him along. Y/N took the opportunity to wrap her legs around Jeno's waist and the position made him perfectly fit where her fire was concentrated. And then, with their bodies so close together, everything went faster, neither of them seemed to want to play or tease anymore. Jeno took off Y/N's bra and paid due attention to her tits, with his hands and a few wet kisses that made her throw her head back and the first moan of the night to appear. He liked the reaction, smiling proudly against Y/N's skin but that was quickly interrupted when she rolled against his hip. Jeno was just as excited as she was, the erection against the wet spot in her groin was so hot. Creating the perfect friction, Y/N continued the movement while Jeno kept his face between her breasts, absorbing the heat and enjoying the sensation of feeling her rocking against his hips. Her moans were no longer restrained and Jeno gripped the skin of her waist tightly, the nails practically scratching her before deciding to take off his shoesand socks. He helped Y/N do the same and his fingers went to the button on her pants, he undid it in a hurry. "Shit." He cursed angrily and made Y/N laugh at his despair. However the sound of her laughter stopped when he managed to get her pants off, Y/N didn't know how he hadn't ripped the jeans as his eyes told her that was exactly what he wanted to do. She felt her whole body weaken even lying when Jeno's fingers found her wet spot over her panties firmly. She tried to grab something on the bed as he moved with precision and rolled her eyes in pleasure, calling his name as if it was her favorite song. Goosebumps, electric shocks, real lightning bolts shot through her as he touched her superficially. She was so wet she would have been shy if didn't have alcohol in her veins, but Jeno didn't allow her to feel ashamed, he wanted to make her comfortable and when he removed his fingers from her panties and brought it to his mouth, tasting everything he had collected, she was sure he would devour her right away. Taking a deep breath, she lifted her weak hands to Jeno's belt and took it off, a difficult task as she was shaking with anticipation, so he helped her. She took off his pants and Y/N waited for him to take the condom out of his pocket, lowered his underwear so he could properly protect himself and she just watched him biting her bottom lip. Her body was crying out for Jeno, she retracted inside just imagining what he would do when he was inside her. Jeno brought his fingers to Y/N's panties and in a single movement pulled them off, licking the corner of his mouth at the sight. She waited for Jeno to be on top, grabbing his back as he positioned himself, her breasts tingling as Jeno's torso found hers and he lifted one of her thighs to his waist, without delay entering Y/N right away. They both held their breaths and Jeno leaned his forehead against Y/N's that was biting her lip hard but even though she tried not to moan, he made the task difficult as he left and entered her again. Jeno started to move her very slowly, his hand gripping her thigh so tightly it would probably leave a mark the next morning, and Y/N grabbed the back of his head. Like the tongues when they first met, the bodies also discovered the same sensual and steady rhythm. Jeno with his face buried in Y/N's neck, his breath ragged against her skin once more, and Y/N gripping the short strands at the back of his neck as she felt completely filled. Between moans, sighs and the sound of their sexual dance, Y/N felt her inner muscles contract as the ecstasy built up to come stronger than she'd ever had. With her mouth open and a few more thrusts from Jeno, Y/N's heart beat faster and her apex hit her like lightning. He growled against her ear and she dragged her nails against his skin, feeling that he, too, was getting closer to his own pleasure. And when it came, he moaned so deliciously and let the weight fall on Y/N who already without strength just stroked his hair. Jeno came out of her and Y/N took a deep breath, watching him get out of bed and go to the bathroom. Y/N pulled back the covers and covered herself as a silly smile crept across her face and as much as tried to stop, she couldn't. She felt her cheeks burn as watched Jeno return to bed in his natural form. Irony of her being shy after sleeping with him? Yup. But apparently Jeno found that amusing as he lay down beside her, with his face turned to face her and covered himself too. They stared at each other serenely without saying anything. "That was…" she started to speak after a long time of silence. "Wow." he added, smiling. "Yeah." She smiled widely, feeling her eyelids grow heavy. Jeno came over, his arm wrapped around her waist under the covers, and placed a quick kiss on her lips. "Not to make things awkward, but you’re tasty." Y/N chuckled through her nose as his hand caressed her skin. "In any way." That was quite a compliment. "You know, because you're captain of the team I thought you would be rougher." she confessed and Jeno raised an eyebrow. "I might be next time." he assured and it made her speechless. Next time? Did he want to sleep with her again? Wasn't it just for one night? Jeno brought his face even closer to hers, their noses touching and the mischievous smile reappeared. "Even because I need to show you that you don't have to leave Earth to go to the stars."

Kitty (part 9)
Parts 1-8 here. Rei x (afab) reader, usual fluff but also... Warnings: Implied gun violence, kidnapping, blood, panic attacks
This chapter is suuuper long, so buckle up! --
Kazuki and Rei get assigned some reconnaissance work from Kyu that takes place over the weekend and into the early week. You reassure the blonde you’re perfectly happy to watch over Miri whilst they’re out, keeping her entertained and fed as they spend the next three days on the job. They’re up early and back late, but Rei sends you sweet text messages to check in whenever he can.
It’s now early Tuesday afternoon – Kazuki dropped off the information to Kyu this morning, and you’re working on the breakfast and lunch dishes with Kazuki. Rei is tackling the folding of the laundry, though Kazuki is keeping a close eye.
As you dip a pan in the hot, soapy water, a sharp pain shoots through your head and you let go, instinctively rubbing the side of your head when you flinch – it’s the telltale beginning of a headache.
“You okay there, Kitty?” Kazuki questions, a cloth in hand as he dries. You nod your head, continuing the therapeutic scrubbing of the pans but he’s leaning forward now, trying to get a good look at you. “You’re looking a little flush.”
The back of his hand is suddenly pressed on your forehead. “Huh, you’re feeling a little bit warm too.”
“A fever?” Rei questions over his shoulder.
You shake your head, “No, I f-feel okay,” but another pain twinges through your head, ruining your performance. The two men stare at you. “OK, maybe m-my head hurts a l-little, b-but it’s f-fine.”
Kazuki side-steps between you and the sink now and hands you a cloth to dry off your hands. “Go sit down. I’ll get the thermometer.”
You nod, walking around the counter to go sit on the couch, unsure why but it’s obvious that Kazuki isn’t going to let you bluff your way out of it. You’d always worked through illnesses in the past, he was hardly going to give you a day off.
Moments later, Kazuki is kneeling down in front of you, asking you to stick the thermometer under your tongue. There’s a beep and he muses over the results, Rei hovering over his shoulder. “Temperature’s running a little high, but only a little. I still think it’s the beginning of a fever. It must be something from daycare, Ms Anna warned there was something going around.”
“Should we go to hospital?”
Kazuki smiles at his room-mate’s concern. “It’s just a bug, no need for that.” The blonde gets to his feet, clearing a path in front of you. “Go on, to bed with you. I’ll send Rei up with some medication in a minute, okay?”
“B-bed?”
“Yep – you need to rest. Go on.”
“B-but I can finish the d-dishes first…” You frowned at the counter.
“You’re sick.” Kazuki stressed. “Pyjamas on, in bed, rest.”
“Go on, Kitty. I can do them.” Rei nods, hoping that might encourage you to listen.
“Okay. Just f-for a b-bit.” You hold the railing as you go up the stairs, knowing that every step is being scrutinized.
By the time you’ve changed into your pyjamas – an activity that seems to make you feel more warm than anything else – and got in the bed, Rei arrives with a tray in hand, balancing a glass, pitcher of water and a box of medication, looking concerned. “Kazuki says to take two of these – that’ll it help with the temperature and the headache.” He places it down on the bedside table before removing the tablets from the box, popping out two and holding them out to you.
You’d be skeptical of taking them if it wasn’t Rei offering them to you. You pop them in your mouth and wash them down with water, leaning back into the pillows.
“I r-really don’t f-feel that bad…”
When Rei was young and sick, Boss made him run. Sweat it out, boy. All he’d wanted to do was sleep, but he wasn’t permitted a day off training for such a trivial thing as a fever. He has a job to do, it’s not going to wait, and Boss said working through it would only strengthen his immune system. He’d been sick once soon after Kazuki had moved in – he’d blamed the blonde for bringing his germs in – and Kazuki had manhandled him into his actual bed, got him to drink some disgusting medicine, put a wet cloth on his forehead – he had to admit that bit had been nice - and promised him unlimited ramen cups if he’d remain in the bed the rest of the day and night. Hell, the man had even stayed besides him, switching over the cloths periodically, getting him to drink more medicine, watching him like a hawk.
The next day he had felt much better, he had to admit.
“I know,” Rei kneels down besides the bed, “but better to be cautious. Just rest a bit - for me, okay?”
You’ve been getting better at saying no, but how can you say no to that face?
“Okay,” you mumble, shuffling down in the bed a little. “Are y-you r-really going to w-wash the dishes?”
“Kazuki started doing them as soon as I headed up here. Said we still need to work on a ‘proper scrubbing technique’, apparently.” Rei huffs. “Why are you so worried about the dishes?”
“I’m n-not,” you avoid eye contact, staring at the bed covers.
“Kitty…”
“I w-want to e-earn m-m-my place.”
“Earn?” He frowns.
“Y-yeah. I d-don’t h-have a-any m-m-money or a j-job and I k-k-know Zuki is a-always k-keeping a c-close eye on the b-b-budget and I’m an ad-ad-added ex-expense”, you’re growing flustered, your breath catches in your throat and your stutter is out of control. You dig your nails into your palms, “so the l-least I c-can d-do is c-clean a-and…”
Rei’s hand is now on your cheek, tilting your head to face him. “Breathe,” he reminds, gently. Looking in his eyes grounds you for a moment and you nod, inhaling deeply and purposefully.
“You don’t need to earn anything here. What’s mine is yours, okay? I don’t even need to ask Kazuki to know he’d say the same. Plus, he’s the original couch crasher, so that position’s already taken.” He jokes.
“I w-want to b-be useful, h-have a p-p-purpose…”
“You are and you do, and we can figure out some things when you’re feeling better. But, for right now, I just need you to rest. Please?”
You nod, a little shakily, before laying down fully. It is nice to be lying down.
“Thank you.” He gets up to his feet and pulls the blinds down, blocking out the early afternoon sun.
“C-can you s-stay f-for a bit?”
“Of course.” He returns to the space besides the bed, leaning up against the bedside table. “Close your eyes, I’ll be here.” He lays his hand on top of yours, gently before he withdraws his phone with his other hand, muting the volume and loading up a game. You close your eyes – your head hurts less so with the darkened room. You could just lay like this for a while, right? Then the headache will pass and you can get up and get on with the housework, just lay there for a little longer, listening to Rei tap away at the phone screen…
--
“Come on,” Kazuki whispers. “We haven’t picked Miri up together in a while. Kitty’ll be fine – she’ll probably sleep better without you hovering over her.”
Rei nods, getting up from his vigil. He hadn’t wanted to leave you really in case you needed anything, but Kazuki is probably right. It isn’t a long trip to the daycare, at least, and you do seem pretty asleep now. He leans over you to brush some hair out of your eyes, noting you still feel a little clammy. He grabs hold of the lion he got you from the zoo – it’s lived in your bed ever since – and tucks it into your arms.
“I’ll be back soon, okay?” He murmurs, before leaving the room quietly and pulling the door to behind him.
--
You wake up a few hours later, a dull pain in your head but nothing as bad as earlier. You sit up and reach over to the bedside table, taking a swig of water from the glass, before getting to your feet. The alarm clock suggests you’ve been asleep for over three hours and Miri should be home from daycare and you get to your feet, hoping Kazuki and Rei will deem that enough of a rest to let you help out with the evening activities. Your bedroom door is slightly ajar and you hear Miri squeal – she’s usually quite excited when she first gets home but this level seems new. You wince, the noise sending a sharp pain through your head as you approach the door.
You then hear a distinctly female voice, followed by Kazuki. That’s different. Unexpected. There’s a short sentence that you recognize as Rei, then Miri giggling. You push the door shut, softly, unsure what to do. You think hard, trying to remember any female friend that they’ve mentioned before, but nothing springs to mind. You’re also not sure what rules there are, if any, around guests. They’d never had guests before. He always had guests – don’t talk unless spoken to (that one soon became unnecessary), show them respect, serve them as you would him. You turn and climb back into the bed and wait.
Downstairs, the little girl clocks your absence.
“Papas, where’s Kitty?” Miri frowns.
“You have a cat?” Misaki asks, politely.
“No.” Kazuki grunts. “She’s… a guest. Kitty wasn’t feeling very well, Miri, she’s resting in bed.”
“Oh, poor Kitty.” Miri frowns. But then her attention span drifts as she sees her pile of drawings, dragging her mother over to look.
“I should go check on her.” Rei suggests, getting up from the sofa but Kazuki grabs hold of his arm as he tries to walk past and pulls him back, hissing in his ear, “You are not leaving me alone with this woman, who knows what I’ll do?! I’ll go, you stay.” Rei pouts a little. He doesn’t want to be left alone either.
Kazuki knocks on the door gently and he finds you sitting up in the bed, looking nervous.
“H-hi.”
“How are you feeling?” He steps in and closes the door. You can tell his mind is preoccupied though.
“A l-little b-b-better, thanks.” You lie. “I w-would’ve come down b-but I heard so-somebody e-else and…” You don’t finish, feeling a little cowardly.
“Mm. Yeah, we have a ‘guest’. She’s called Misaki and she’s… Well, she’s Miri’s mother.”
You frown. “I t-t-thought…”
“Me too.” Kazuki sighs, leaning against the closed door. “Misaki seems to have had a change of heart. She wants to take Miri back.”
“Oh.”
“Can she do that? It’s been nearly a year. She just… She let her travel across the whole city on her own with nothing but a letter and an envelope of photos. She can’t just demand to take her back, can she?”
“I… I’m n-not sure.” You wish you could comfort Kazuki better. “You’ll n-need to s-sit and t-talk p-properly.”
“I know, I just don’t want to.” He sighs. “Do you feel up for coming downstairs? Miri was asking for you.”
You don’t really want to, but you do for Miri and Kazuki’s sake. You nod, getting out of the bed, grab the black zip up hoody and pull it over your pyjamas, following the blonde out the bedroom door.
When you get downstairs Misaki is nowhere to be seen, but Miri is delighted to see you, cuddling up against your legs. “Kitty, Mama’s here! Well, she was here, but she’s coming back. She’s going to make us dinner!”
“T-that’s exciting.” You smile, warmly.
“Are you feeling any better?” Rei stands besides you, scrutinizing your face.
You nod, give him a smile and lower your voice. “Is Z-Zuki okay?”
“Not particularly.” He shrugs. “We need to keep calm in front of Miri though. Are you sure you’re feeling better? Come on, sit down.”
A little while later, the buzzer goes.
“Do I have to let her back in?” Kazuki grumbles, but Miri has already sprinted to the front door and is jumping up and down, waiting for Kazuki to let her mama back in. He frowns as he sees her laden with shopping bags in hand, informing that she’s going to make Miri’s favourite dinner.
“Oh…” She smiles at you, unsure, looking you up and down. You wish you’d got changed out of your pyjamas. “Hello, I’m Misaki.”
“Mama, this is Kitty!” Miri beams, giddy with excitement to have all her favourite adults in one place.
“Oh, yes, the, er, guest?”
“Yes. H-h-hi.” There’s the look – the one you always get when you stutter. “N-nice to m-meet y-you.”
“What’s all this?” Kazuki asks, gesturing to the plastic bags in Misaki’s hands - thankfully ending this awkward interaction.
“Oh, well, I’m going to make Hamburg steak. I’m afraid I’ll have to use your kitchen…”
--
Dinner is awkward. There isn’t enough steak for everyone – Misaki only buying four – but that’s okay, you reassure, your appetite is a little off and you’re happy with rice and vegetables. Then there’s not enough chairs at the table, so you offer to sit elsewhere. Kazuki mutters that Misaki should offer to sit elsewhere, like in her own home for one, she’s the one imposing…
You can hear the stilted conversation - Kazuki getting upset as both Miri and Rei compliment the store-bought steak, but Miri is happy to have her papas and mama all together. You’re knelt down besides the coffee table with your dinner, trying your best to not feel excluded. You’d ate worse places and you’d offered, after all…
Rei comes and sits with you on the sofa after dinner, asking if you’re okay, squeezing your hand. You nod – it’s not like Misaki is moving in, you reason in your head, you’ll get your place back. Kazuki is mumbling angrily under his breath as he wipes the dining table, Miri and Misaki working together on the dishes. Miri is telling her mother about how they’re going to sing Silent Night at the daycare’s Christmas party. It’s clear how much Miri loves her mama, but you’ve seen how much the little girl adores Kazuki and Rei too. Not long after the dishes are complete, Miri jumps up besides you on the sofa with a loud yawn when Misaki visits the bathroom and in the time it takes her to return, Miri is snoring happily away. Seeing this, Kazuki takes his chance.
“Talk.” The blonde orders, sitting down at the table and pointing at a chair for Misaki to take.
“Can we do it in, er, private?” She asks, sitting down. You look down at Miri – maybe she hasn’t realized she’s asleep? But when you look up to clarify, you realize she’s looking at you.
“Kitty stays, she’s part of this family too.” Rei replies in a tense tone. You avert your eyes again, looking back at Miri sleeping peacefully on the couch. You’re not sure how this conversation is going to go – you know Kazuki is finding it difficult already and maybe tempers will fray. Miri is a solid sleeper… but, still, you’d hate for her to wake up to find her mama and papas having heated words.
“It’s o-o-okay. I’m f-f-feeling a l-l-little t-tired, so w-why don’t I t-t-take Miri up t-to b-bed?” You suggest. What would you add to the discussion anyway? You worry that you being there will give Misaki ammo, somehow. What are you exposing my daughter to?
“Are you sure?” Kazuki asks and you nod, perhaps a little too eagerly. “Okay, thank you.”
You gently pick the little girl up and she unconsciously snuggles into your arms. Three pairs of eyes of eyes linger on you as you walk up the spiral stairs, padding into Miri’s room and tucking her into her own bed. When you exit, you can hear Kazuki finding it difficult to contain his anger, but you head straight into your room, closing the door to behind you and climbing into bed, cuddling your lion to your chest.
--
“Run!” A voice demands. “Run…!” It’s your father, of course that’s your father’s voice – how could you have forgotten? He repeats it again, but this time, he says your name, or what you think is your name. The thing is, it’s muffled, almost as you’re underwater – you can’t make it out but you know that’s what he’s saying. Why can’t your brain comprehend it? “Run!” You know, somehow, he doesn’t mean out the front door, so you head to the one at the rear of the property – the one that overlooks the woodland. There’s screeching tyres from the front but you don’t look back. The ground is unsteady and you stumble over roots, branches scratching at your legs. It’s muddy – it’s not ideal for running and your shoes are getting stuck in the mud, you’re clumsy, you’re causing a racket. Why are you running? Where are you running to?
You trip, crashing into the ground, mud splatters up on your face. You know there’s no time to waste – your father’s tone had been desperate - so you grasp above you head blindly, trying to find purchase on a branch or a trunk or a rock. You manage to get back up to your feet, but there’s a sharp twinge in your ankle – you must’ve twisted it in the fall. You stagger forward but it’s useless, you’ve lost your momentum, you’ve lost the little bearings you’ve had, but still you limp forward. There’s a racket growing behind you and you try to increase your pace. Your ankle burns with every step, the mud seems to be grow stickier, pulling back at your feet every time you lift them. Pathetic. An arm grabs you around the waist, and you elbow back, demanding they get off you but you know it’s over then. They’re so much stronger – your elbows don’t even make them flinch.
Your wrists are pulled tightly behind your back, feeling like they’re trying to pull your shoulders out of their sockets. Something’s looped around them – a zip tie? – and tightened until it feels like it’s cutting deep into your skin. You’re span round and you get a glimpse of a face – not one you recognize - before you’re thrown over your assailant’s shoulder. They grumble at the state of you, the mud from your fall now sullying their suit.
You struggle but it’s pointless. Fingers pinch into your thighs as they begin to walk back to the house with you, or at least you think they are. It’s hard to tell, the way you’re being held means you can see nothing but the back of your captor. He’s looped an arm through your bound arms to keep you snug against him, and every jostle the restraints cut into your skin more. You know you’re not screaming – you know there’s no-one around here for miles.
You’re back inside the house now, but the room smells different – tangy, bloody…
You’re dropped down on the floor, opposite your father. His nose is bloody, his eye is blackening rapidly. You stare at him but you don’t say a word. Someone new enters the room and you look down at the ground.
“Aktomi, please.” Your father pleads, “If you just give me a little more time…”
“I’ve given you plenty of time.” He replies. “You haven’t even begun to scrape the surface. I need to collect today.” A pair of well-polished shoes appear in your view and the newcomer crouches down in front of you. A hand grasps your chin and tilts it up so you have to make eye contact and you try and swallow back down your fear. “And when I came to collect, you sent the most valuable thing you have running out the door.”
“Please, sir, I beg of you. My mistakes are nothing to do with her. She has her whole life ahead of her…” Your father is on the verge of tears.
He’s still holding you by the chin, fingers digging into your jaw as he twists your face side to side. You don’t what to think what he’s looking for.
“How old is she?”
“19, sir. She’s a dutiful daughter. Ever since her mother died, she’s been so good to me. I don’t deserve her…”
“No, you don’t,” he lets go at last, seeming happy with his findings and gets to his feet. “Put her in the car.”
“What?” You gasp, but you’re hoisted roughly off the ground, an arm looped through your bound wrists again, a hand grips hold of the back of your neck and forces your head down as you’re dragged out. You can’t get purchase on the ground to make a step, tripping over your own feet as they half-carry you. “Father!” You cry out, but it’s useless – you’re already out the door and up the footpath to the dirt road. Every step further they take you, you can hear your father plead and plead and plead… until there’s a solitary gunshot and you know.
There’s the sound of a door being opened and your neck is released, only for you then to be swept off your feet and dropped into the trunk of a car. You try and sit up but a hand pushes your shoulders firmly back down, causing your head to bang against the side console, making your vision swim. Then he appears, smiling at you.
“Enjoy the ride, sweetheart. I’ll decide how you can pay your father’s debts once we’re home.”
The world goes black.
Your eyes shoot open as you sit up, your breath already caught in your throat, covered in a cold sweat. It takes a second for your eyes to adjust – you’re in bed, you’re in Rei’s bedroom, you’re not in a car, you’re not back there… You’re fine, you’re fine, you’re fine - you try to reassure yourself but you have the sickening feeling once more of your breaths not being enough.
“Kitty?” The voice to your side startles you and you’re hyperventilating now, tears trickling down your cheeks and you’re gripping the bedsheet with both hands – willing yourself to just breathe but you can’t. Your head is trying to remember what Kazuki told you, breathing in and out for so many seconds, but you lose count and maybe you’re not breathing deep enough? Did it feel deeper last time? It’s not getting in.
Misaki had left a little while ago. Kazuki had stormed off to bed, but Rei couldn’t sleep. He wanted to see you, make sure you were okay, talk about what had occurred. The bedroom door had been slightly ajar when he’d got upstairs, so he’d poked his head in to find you tossing and turning in the sheets. He’d just made it to your side when you’d shot bolt-right up in the bed, panting.
He’s kneeling besides the bed now, pulling your hand from the bedsheet and gripping it tightly. He’s saying something but all you can hear is the pounding of your heart in your ears – why’s it so loud?  Rei is panicking too - should he get Kazuki? No, he doesn’t want to leave you on your own, not even for a moment. If he shouts for him, that’ll wake Miri too, surely. He takes a breath himself and tries to repeat what Kazuki told him but it’s soon clear you’re not focusing on him at all, staring blankly ahead of you as your eyes are damp with tears. He thinks back to his training – his instructor used to put his hand over his to adjust his positioning on various weapons, so maybe that could work here too. Could he get you to feel how he’s breathing? He gets to his feet and climbs behind you in the bed. His long legs are now either side of you and he reaches forward, grabbing your hands in each of his. He pulls you back and into his chest and he squeezes your hand one, two, three, four times as you feel him inhale behind you, his chest expanding. He’s exaggerating the movements, hoping to get through to you. One, two, three, four, he counts with a squeeze as he holds the breath. Another one, two, three, four as he releases the breath and starts the sequence again. You close your eyes and just try and focus on the rise and fall of his chest, mimicking the motion, and on the squeezes of his hands on yours. You don’t know how long it takes – minutes, hours? – but your breaths become deeper and calmer once more, returning to almost normal as Rei continues holding you tight, squeezing and breathing.
“Feeling better?” His voice murmurs in your ear, his breath tickling your neck.
You nod. “T-thank y-you.”
“No problem.” He hesitates briefly, before letting go of your hands. You immediately grab hold of his left arm, pulling it around your stomach. He tenses for a second but relaxes soon after.
“D-don’t g-g-go. P-please.”
“I won’t.” He soothes, “I’ll stay as long as you need me to, okay?”
You squeeze his hand, taking a shuddering breath. “N-ni-nightmare.” You confide before Rei can ask. He leans his head on your shoulder, wrapping his other arm around you without prompt, leaning back into the pillows. “A-about t-the n-n-night my f-father died. F-father, he… H-he was s-saying m-my n-n-name but I c-couldn’t h-hear it.”
“That must be frustrating. I’m sorry.”
You sit for a few moments, enjoying the grounding feeling of being wrapped in his arms as you continue to breathe in sync. As your thoughts begin to rationalize, you remember what had occurred before you’d fallen asleep.
“W-what happened with M-Misaki?”
“She’s got cancer. She doesn’t think she has long left to live.”
“Oh, t-that’s aw-awful.”
“Mm. She wants to live out the rest of her life with Miri, live her life now for Miri.” A pause. “She said she knows about our line of work, and that if we truly care about Miri, then we’d do what’s best for her.”
“T-that’s not f-fair.” Rei doesn’t reply, musing over it in his head. “What d-does Zuki t-think?”
“He didn’t say much – he just went to bed. I don’t know what we should do.”
You wish you knew the right thing to say, but you don’t. You know Kazuki and Rei love and adore Miri, they’ve done nothing but good for her. You don’t know much about Misaki’s life, but Miri obviously adored her so she can’t have been a terrible mother. Then again, how could a mother send their little girl out alone…?
“S-sleep on it.” You suggest. “Everyone’s e-emotions a-are high. S-sleep w-will help.”
You feel him nod on your shoulder. “And you, will you be able to sleep?”
“I… I d-don’t k-know.” You bite your lip. “I… I don’t want you to go.”
“I won’t go. I told you, I’ll stay as long as you need me.”
You close your eyes.
--
The first conscious thought is there’s a sharp burst vibration on his right leg. It’s signaling a text. The second is he has his arms wrapped around you, spooning you into the wall and he’s in your bed. It’s pleasant – your breathing is steady and you feel so soft and warm… There’s another vibration against his leg. He carefully removes his arm from around you to retrieve his phone – his other one will have to remain trapped under your sleeping form for now.
He turns away as he unlocks the device, not wanting the light from it to cast on your face. It’s a number he doesn’t have saved, which makes his gut sink because it can only mean one thing.
Boss wants to see you – immediately.
It’s a little after 6am – Boss has always been an early riser. It hasn’t been that long since he last saw him on his birthday, but so much has happened in that time. He was meant to be tying up loose ends, but then you came along and… Well, dominated his thoughts.
Rei slides his arm out from under you but you abruptly turn, mumbling in your sleep. He freezes, he doesn’t want to wake you up because of the Boss of all things. He spots the plush lion and presses it under your arm. You sigh, squeezing it and your breathing returns to its steady state.
He know he’s stealthy – it was a large part of his training, after all - but it doesn’t feel right to get changed whilst you’re in the room. He gathers up the necessary pieces of his suit and heads towards the door, pausing briefly to glance back at you and smile.
He dresses in the bathroom, checking his appearance in the mirror as he ties up his hair. He puts a change of clothes in a bag – the suit’s been feeling more constrictive recently, and not due to Kazuki’s cooking, so he doesn’t want to wear it longer than necessary. He’s halfway to the front door when he turns back, finds a scrap of paper and leaves a note on the dining table.
Taken the car. Back later – Rei.

The Color Pink (Part 10)
Uhhh this one took me a while to get to bc my brain went on vacation.
Hazel had been on cloud nine since her last date with The Noise. Even though it had been days, it felt like it all happened yesterday. For some strange reason, life felt completely different. She found herself smiling a lot, especially when she thought of him. She was itching to see him again, but she didn't want to seem clingy. However, she couldn't seem to contain herself. It had been so long since she felt a love like this, and she wanted to cherish every moment. She paced back and forth as she waited for their usual 7 o'clock phone call. The phone rang, and she picked it up without hesitation; "Hi, Theo!"
"Hey! How-"
"We should go on another date!"
He chuckled. "Eager, aren't we?"
"Yeah, I am. Sorry," she laughed nervously.
"I mean, I don't disagree."
"Great!"
"What were you thinking we do?"
"Um... I didn't think about that."
"I don't have any ideas."
"Hmmm..."
They went silent for a minute.
"Oh!" Hazel said, "I got it! Why don't we go stargazing? There's an opening in Picnic Park where you can see the stars!"
"How... How does that work?"
"What?"
"How can we see the stars when we're in a tower?"
"I don't know. I try not to think about it too much, it gives me a headache."
"That's fair."
"Do you maybe want to do it tonight?"
"That's a little short notice. I'm also kind of tired."
"Right, right, right. Sorry. I'm just excited to see you."
He chuckled again. "It's okay. If you want, we can do it tomorrow night, though."
Hazel hummed in thought for a minute. "Oh, yeah, that actually works out better. I'm not opening the cafe tomorrow."
"How come?"
"I want a three day weekend. I need some time off."
"That's understandable. I do that every now and again. I can set my own hours sometimes. It has to be approved occasionally. There was one time I took a week off because I just didn't feel like going to work."
"Really? That sounds... nice."
"It is, but I got so behind. It was bad. So yeah, that's why some of my extra days off need to be pre-approved."
"I try not to take too many days off. I guess it really doesn't matter much since I don't get a lot of customers."
"Hey, what did I say about that mindset?"
"I know, I know. I'm just saying. As much as I enjoy The Vigilante's company, it gets a little tiring hearing him rambling on and on about justice and this and that."
"Ugh, you deserve an award for dealing with him so often. I can't stand that guy."
"He's uh... He's an acquired taste."
"He suuuuucks!"
"Oh, be nice."
"That's not really my thing."
"Mhm, okay. I call bullshit."
"Yeah? How come?"
"You're nice to me."
"Only to you."
She let out a small giggle. "I believe that."
"I hate to cut it short, but I'm feeling really tired. I'm probably gonna make some food and head to bed."
"Okay. What time do you want to meet up tomorrow?"
"How about 8 or 9?"
"Why so late?"
"I thought you wanted to go stargazing."
"Oh! Right!" She laughed.
"Okay, well... Goodnight, Hazel."
"Goodnight, Theodore."
-
Hazel had suffered through the anticipation of the whole day waiting for their date. The day went by so slowly. She felt as if she was stuck in waiting mode. She got ready in something casual. She left her hair as was. She put on a cute pink Hello Kitty t-shirt with some straight leg blue jeans and white sneakers. She felt that she had been overeager to see him, so she wanted to dress to impressive. Play it cool, she thought.
She called a cab and headed down to the Gnome Forest. She walked over to Picnic Park. She saw some goblins that looked unusually like The Noise. She actually thought one of them was him, but when she called to it, it didn't respond. When she got to the park, she saw The Noise waiting for her. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a yellow bomber jacket and blue jeans with black Vans. He ran up to her and picked her up with a spin. She laughed as she held on to his shoulder.
"Hey," she spoke through laughter.
"Hi," he chuckled. "I was waiting for you." He put her down softly.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to be late."
"No, no, I got here kind of early. We didn't specify whether we were meeting at 8 or 9 so I got here at 8."
"Sorry."
"Stop apologizing! It's not your fault."
"Okay, okay." She giggled. "Here," she grabbed his hand. "I'll show you where the opening is."
"Heh heh..."
"What?"
He snickered. "Nothing, it's just the way you said that."
She smiled and shook her head. "You have a dirty mind."
He cackled as she tugged his arm. They came to a small area of grass. Above them was an opening in the trees that showed the night sky. Amazingly, the stars were bright and abundant. There were so many of them, which was funny considering they were inside a tower. Hazel looked at him and smiled when she saw him looking upward. "This is the spot I was telling you about."
"Yeah," he looked at her. "You weren't kidding."
"I mean, I haven't been here in a while. I really don't have to. If I want to go stargazing, all I would have to do is look at you."
He blushed and rubbed the back of his head. "Stop... I'm not that famous..."
"Are you kidding? You're like the most famous person in the tower. I think more people know you than Pizzaface."
"Whatever," he poked her, and she giggled.
Hazel sat down and so did Theo. They laid down slowly and looked up. The sky was pitch black, decorated with sparkling stars of white, red, green, and blue. The stars in the tower were so different from the stars outside. They had all sorts of different patterns and shapes.
"I remember," Theo spoke, "when I was a kid, we went to a planetarium as a school field trip. It was really cool."
"I went to one, too," Hazel responded, "my school did the same thing!"
"We got to see space ship equipment, pieces of space suits and meteorites. Then they took us to this dome room where they had all the stars. They showed us the constellations and told us their backstories."
"Really? I didn't get that experience as a kid."
"Yeah. The only constellation I can still spot is Orion. You can only see it during the winter. Well, it starts in the fall, and that's how I know winter's coming."
"That's really cool! I don't know where the constellations are. I only really know what they're called."
"I'm surprised no one's made up constellations for the stars in here."
"We could make some."
"Yeah, we could, but I'm not the most creative."
She looked at him. "Really? You, not the creative type?" She was very sarcastic.
He looked at her and laughed. "I guess I am, but not when it comes to constellations."
"Let's test it out." She pointed at a few stars in the shape of two squares. "How about that one?"
"Uhhh... A book, maybe?"
"Or nerdy glasses."
He chuckled. "That one kind of sucked."
She slapped his forearm. "Be nice!"
"I am!" He laughed.
She sighed, "I guess you're right. Two squares isn't the most impressive thing in the world."
"Hmmm..." He pointed at some stars in the shape of an asterisk. "How about that one?"
"Mmm... I don't really see anything."
"It's a flower." He grabbed her hand and traced the pattern with her finger.
"Oh! I see it now!"
He snickered. As she continued to stare at the stars, he turned his head to her. He observed her and how pretty she was. He scanned her from her head to her toes with a smile on his face. He was completely enamored by her. This beautiful girl lay beside him. He thought about how he was originally flirting with her out of lust, but quickly, he fell for her. He had never met anyone quite like her. She was so kind, upbeat, and outgoing. She brought out a side of him that he didn't even know existed. She turned her head to him and noticed him staring.
"Hi," she spoke.
"Hey," he replied.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"I don't know."
"You sure?"
"I... Heh, I don't know that either." He chuckled nervously.
"I have to ask you about something you said."
"Oh?"
"It was, uh... something you said when you were drunk."
His eyes widened, and his heart sank. "Oh..." He didn't remember what he had said to her.
"You told me... Well, you told me that you liked me."
"..." He stared at her in bewilderment.
"What did you mean by that?"
"Oh, well, um..." He looked up at the sky and gulped. "I, uh..." He took a deep breath and sighed. "Hazel... I like you. I like your eyes. I like your smile. I like the way you talk. I like the way your voice sounds. I like how you get excited over the smallest of things. I like how you squeak and hop around when you're happy. I like that you're resilient and don't give up when things get challenging. I like that you're authentically yourself no matter what. I like it when you come around, and I like it when you're there. I like that you treat me like a normal person. I like that you worry about me, like when it was raining and you were worried I'd get sick. I like that you're a bit assertive with me. I like that we call and talk on the phone every day. I like how soft your hands are, and I like when you let me hold them. I like it when we hug. A-a-and I liked it when we kissed. I like that you make me nervous but you also make me calm.
I like you, Hazel. I really, really do."
Hazel was smiling with tears in her eyes. "Wow, Theodore... That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me."
He sat up. "I just," he sighed, "I don't want to rush things. I don't want to get my heart broken, and I surely don't want to break yours. I guess, in a way, I'm afraid. I already feel like I don't deserve you, like you're too good for me. You're such a genuinely sweet and good person, and well... To be honest, when I first met you, I was only flirting with you to get lucky. And before I met you, I was basically an alcoholic. I drank before work, after work, in the morning, and before bed. I stopped drinking as much once we started talking. I'm still working on getting my drinking under control. I'm short-tempered and nasty. There's so many horrible, horrible things about me that you haven't seen yet. So many things that make me feel like I shouldn't be doing this with you." Theo sniffled and wiped a tear from his eye.
"Theodore, look," Hazel sat up, scooted next to him, and gently grabbed the side of his face to make him look at her. "I like you, too. I like how nervous you get. I like that you're pushing through that nervousness for me. I like that you care about me. I like that you try to help me out with my business. I like that you make time for me when you're so busy. I like your smile. I like your laugh. I like that you're so silly and goofy. I like that you're truthful with me. I like that you told me about all that.
But you know what I don't like? I don't like how hard you are on yourself. I don't like that you seem to think that you're such a horrible person. I don't like that you see all the good things in me but none of the good things about yourself. There are bad things about me, too. Things you haven't seen yet. Things that you're probably not going to like, things that I don't even like.
I think you're good enough for me. Matter of fact, I think you're even better than that. Come here."
She pulled him in for a hug. He sniffled again and shed a few silent tears into her shoulder. She pulled back to see that he was crying. She put her hands on his cheeks. "No tears," she said ever so softly. "I like you, too. Okay?"
He nodded and took a deep breath. "Okay."
She hugged him again and rubbed his back. She felt his whole body relax in her arms. He felt her shiver slightly and pulled back.
"Are you okay," he asked worriedly.
"I'm fine, I'm just a little cold." She smiled and shrugged.
He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders. "Here."
"Oh, no, no," she tried to stop him.
"No, you're cold."
"But you'll-"
"Hazel." He looked her in the eye. "You need this more than I do."
She smiled and blushed as she put her arms through the sleeves of the jacket. "Are you sure you'll be okay?"
"I have a pretty good cold tolerance. I'll be fine."
They laid down side by side with their hands clasped together, their fingers intertwined. Hazel felt incredibly warm and safe with his jacket around her. She leaned her head on Theodore's shoulder as they continued to stargaze. They continued to point out silly shapes they noticed in the stars and gave them even sillier names. As the night continued on, things got quiet. Theo got a little concerned. He looked over to see that Hazel had dozed off on his shoulder. He smiled and snickered. He nudged her gently with his elbow to wake her up. She slowly picked her head up. Her eyes were squinted with confusion.
"Hey," he spoke under his breath.
"What happened," she muttered.
"You fell asleep."
She shot up. "Oh, my gosh! I'm so sorry!"
He sat up and laughed. "It's okay."
She covered her face in embarrassment. "I'm not usually up this late." She huffed. "I'm usually in bed super early so I can wake up early for the cafe."
"Do you wanna go home?"
"No! I mean, yeah, but..."
"Want me to take you home?"
"No, I'll call a cab this time. Thanks, though."
"Come on," he stood up and held his hand out. "I'll walk you to the street."
She grabbed his hand, and he helped her up. They walked slowly through the park with their hands held. Hazel was so flustered, she couldn't believe she fell asleep on him during their date! Theodore thought it was absolutely adorable that she felt safe enough with him to fall asleep on his shoulder. He wasn't at all mad. As they strolled towards the street, Theodore stopped her and leaned on a tree. He grabbed her other hand and held both of them.
"Why are we stopping?" She was incredibly confused.
Theodore's heart was racing. His legs were weak and felt like they could give out at any moment. With a nervous smile, he asked,
"Hazel... Will you be my girlfriend?"
Hazel's eyes grew wide and she gasped.
"Oh... My... Gosh!!!" She jumped up and down with her hands still in his. "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! YESSS!!!" She let out a small squeal before she yanked him into hug, still hopping around and giggling in joy. When they pulled away from the hug, she grabbed the back of his head and kissed him deeply. She started to giggle and hop around again, her hands on his shoulders, his hands on hers. Her cab pulled up, and she looked at it before kissing him again.
"I have to go," she said with a giant smile.
"Yeah. I'll see you."
"Bye!" She pecked him on the lips one more time. "I'll call you tomorrow, okay?"
"Okay. Go home, go to bed." He pat her on the shoulder as she ran towards the cab.
He watched her run off with a giant smile on his face. She couldn't see it, but his face was beet red. He was so happy she said yes. He couldn't believe he finally worked up the courage to ask her. After the conversation they had before, he finally felt secure enough. He was a bit anxious, but he had to take the chance. And he was so glad he did.
That night, Hazel had trouble sleeping. She was suddenly struck with energy and excitement after he asked her out. She paced around her bedroom for a good hour before she settled down to sleep. She realized she forgot to give him back his jacket in her fit of exhilaration. But it was so soft and warm, and it smelled like him, too. She finally laid down, falling asleep while wearing his jacket.

Hi Mimi. Can I ask you for advice.
I have a friend who is mad at me because I’m not calling her back 24/7, and because I can’t hang out all the time and have to cancel due to the fact that I work and they sometimes, even if I have plans, call me in.
I couldn’t attend her boyfriend’s surprise birthday dinner, who she’ve only been dating for like 4 months and I’ve only met twice, because they wanted to go out late at night and I was working the day before, during, and the day after. However that particular day I got to finish my shift early because it was raining so my boss told me to just go home. On my way home another friend called me, who I haven’t seen in four month because we live 1h and 45min away from each other. My birthday is in two weeks but she’s going on vacation soon, she asked if we could meet up in the city and have dinner, this is like 4-5pm, because she wanted to celebrate me by buying me dinner. I said okey. I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong. We meet up, have dinner, order some drinks, and I post a video of us. The other friend, not even 5 minutes later, sends me a loooong message about what a bad friend I am without even knowing anything. I didn’t answer her right away and decided to wait until I was home. I got home at like 8:30, and the dinner was around 9-10isch so even if I didn’t go out with my friend I couldn’t go and celebrate her boyfriend because I needed to sleep.
She really went off on me, said a lot of things, and made me feel so shitty for nothing. So I wrote back and told her, we’re not kids, I didn’t do anything wrong, I explained briefly why I went out with my friend, and I also told her it’s my life and nobody can get mad at me for my choices, even if I was free that day it still shouldn’t be a problem because I don’t have an obligation to anybody. I also told her that I think it’s wrong that she decided to message me when she saw I was out, she could have waited and brought it up the next day instead of basically trying to ruin my night. I also texted her “don’t worry about this now, go and have fun, enjoy, let’s talk face 2 face when we get the chance” She then texted me back saying “I am celebrating his birthday all weekend, we can talk another day, I don’t have time to deal with this now”. I wrote back “sure”. My first thought, before I calmed myself down, was “so you have time to ruin my night, and start this whole thing, but you don’t have time to finish it?”.
Am I the asshole? Hahaha this sounds like a reddit post, I wanted to write it there but I don’t want to take a risk of her seeing it. Your account, your stories and you are also my comfort zone. I just feel safe here, which is why I am sorry for the rant and headache you have now. I just don’t like to talk about other people with other people, which is why I’m not asking for advice from my friends. But at the same time I’m desperate because I feel like I have done everything for her but just because I have work and have to prioritize myself I’m suddenly a bad friend for not attending her bfs dinner who I’ve only met twice. I mean it’s not like I missed her wedding day. It’s not like I was talking shit about her or told everyone her secrets for her to call me awful names and paint me as the bad guy. It’s not like the plan hanged on me, and I said no, and everybody stayed home but then I went out anyways. They still went out and had fun, so why should it be a problem if I was there or not.
I just want to add that this friendship is solely about me being there for her, I’m basically her therapist. I’ve never ever had demands on her or how she should treat me. I’m so drama free like this is my only drama in life atm in the past 6 years. I’m so easy going. You know that last year on my birthday she didn’t wish me a happy bday, and last year I asked her 6 times if she wanted to go on a vacation and she said no, but then she posts on snap that she’s going on a “random trip” with a girl she met 6 month ago at a gym who she doesn’t even talk to anymore because she feels that the girl was to clingy. I didn’t say anything because I thought it’s okey I’m not gonna ruin her day, vacation or whatever for something so silly, it’s HER life. I’m always there for her, even if I’m busy I always try to show her that she is not neglected by maybe sending her a song, or meme, or even going as far as telling her that I’m gonna be busy and that she can call me if it’s an emergency otherwise I won’t be so active. I always have her back, she calls me 4 in the morning and I pick up without blinking twice. My parents treat her as a second daughter, I’m always there for her as much as I can, and I just have to add that last month, I didn’t sleep for 36h and had a 10h shift the day after, but I still went out with her because she needed a friend due to having a bad day. I neglected my mental health for her. And our convos are 90% about her, 7% about random stuff, and 3% about me, and I STILL DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT because idgaf. Im honestly so unbothered I really don’t care, but right now I care because I feel that the text she sent me, and the way she wanted to paint me, and the words she used even though I’ve never ever had anything negative about her coming out of my mouth…I just feel like this is so unfair and I don’t know what to do. Should I end the friendship? Or maybe talk to her and try to make her understand? Im just so lost and this is honestly so sad because we’ve been friend for 12 years if not more. I don’t want it to end over something so silly…
Much love💜
Again I’m sorry for ranting, if you have advice I want to thank you for them. And I also want to thank you before hand for taking the time to read this. I admire u and ur stories!
I just have to add: she’s not a bad person, her good qualities overshadows the bad ones, which is why we’re still friends.
This message was sent a while back and I am sorry for responding only now. Maybe you were able to figure it out on your own or things happened after this. But all I can recommend for you to do is to talk to your friend, if you haven’t already. If I were you, I’d try to communicate and make her see where I am coming from as well and then… there’s nothing much you can do from there. You’ll see how she takes it and whether she’s able to see your side or not. Regardless of everything, she shouldn’t take you for granted and cut you some slack.
Like you said, you don’t want your friendship to end over something silly but maybe it’s not something silly at all. In the end, you don’t want friends who makes you feel guilty and take you for granted all the time. Just the fact your entire friendship seems to be focusing on her rather than on both of you says a lot. You shouldn’t be treated that way and you do deserve someone who equally cares about you as a person :)

Kiyosumi was nauseous.
Additionally, he had the biggest hangover he's had in weeks, all because he had gone on a bender over the weekend.
So now, here he was, Monday afternoon, nauseous, lying on his futon, the nasty looking bedside table that functioned as a nightstand beside him starting to tremble as his phone that was laying screen down on the booze-stained wood began to vibrate.
Groaning in annoyance and clicking his tongue, the man picked up his phone, his brows furrowing causing deep wrinkles to set on his forehead as his eyes tried to focus on the bright white screen which irritated them, considering the rest of the room was bathed in darkness due to the man having closed his curtains before trying to take a nap.
"Whaddya want...?"
His voice was gruffy and clearly communicated even more than his rude words that he was in no mood to talk or even interact with anyone. Well, anyone other than his cat that was currently lying in her bed that stood next to his.
"Hello kiyo, how are you? Good? Great. Anyway, do you know what we're celebrating this Saturday?"
"No."
The person on the other end of the phonecall sighed a bit, before letting him know it was Keichi's birthday. Kiyosumi's brows furrowed even more as he told her he didn't care, his sister cutting him off before he could say anything more rude than that as she told him that they'd be celebrating at their mother's home.
"Look, neither I nor him expect you to bring a present but you're coming. Bye bye, see you Saturday!"
Before the Japanese man could protest, the older woman hung up the phone as kiyosumi resisted the urge to toss the smart device across his room, instead just slamming it down on the night table, as if to show his upset despite the fact that there was no one around to see it as he tried to snuggle back into bed.
But there was something stopping him.
He almost screamt in frustration as, additionally to the nausea and headache already plaguing him, a third, even more annoying and useless source of pain joined as he held his arms over his stomach. The dread he held for this Saturday caused a stomach ache to plague his already plagued body.

Kiyosumi wanted to die.
Not seriously, or at least not entirely seriously, but he didn't remember the last time he had felt so bad, so useless, so stupid so.... So weak.
He was often brushed off and disliked by many as just some cocky karateka asshole who was way too arrogant and needed to be taken down a notch, and while partially, it was true (He was both a karateka and an asshole after all), he was also incredibly insecure and, towards people he actually respected, oftentimes almost soft.
Like baki. In the begining, he had thought of the boy as some arrogant 17 year old, but now, things we're different. He admired the boy's ability to fight and his unbelievable strength. It was a bit similar to how he felt about Katsumi.
Sure, he was the grandmaster's son, and sometimes, too cocky to be likeable, but he was also an incredibly kind and strong man that Katou had long admired, and who astounded him when he asked for Katou to act as his master.
Of course Kiyosumi being Kiyosumi had acted as if it was no biggie, but in reality, he had been really proud of himself that Katsumi admired him enough to make him his master, even if it was just for short.
All this to say that Kiyosumi was by no means 100% some cocky asshole, he was often rude, but he had other moments too and he wasn't ashamed of that.
Right now though.... Right now he was ashamed. He had never done as horrible during training as he had now, it disgusted him and made him feel weak and he hated it.
He didn't even bother changing out of his gi, his apartment wasn't far and it was smer so he had only taken off his jacket while keeping on his wife beater that hugged his upper body tightly. Before he could leave however, Suredo peeked his head into the changing room, making Kiyosumi scoff as he didn't even make eye contact.
"Yoy wanna go out and get a beer?"
The large redhead asked as Katou looked like he was deep in thought before saying he had beer at home. Atsushi nodded slowly as Katou wanted to brush past him only to be stopped.
"You wanna drink at your place?"
An all too familiar need arose from deep within his brain as he huffed, but nodded, Atsushi following his 'comrade' to said man's apartment.
And then it began.
Soft, almost sensual kisses against eachother's faces and lips, necks and throats as Kiyosumi was seated on his dresser by Atsushi who's never ending sloppy, insecure but incredibly affectionate actions gave Kiyosumi some warming ease that separated him from the anxiety and that seemed to stop him from spiraling into what might've become a depressive episode.
Sure, mental issues were no simple thing easily stopped by a bit of affection, but this kind of affection at least caused his mind to be focused on other things than the dreaded feeling of weakness and uselessness.
And when he was pinned down on his futon, his muscular calves caging in Atsushi's waist, both him and the man currently working on bringing both of them closer and closer to release moaning and groaning, he only thought about that.
How good it felt, how warm he felt, how dizzy he was but how good even that felt. Even afterwards, when he was sticky with his own semen and smoking a cigarette, his mind was fairly calm, atsushi laying by his side, holding him.
It was pretty nice.
Kiyosumi would never say that, but he liked this, however, he was unusually needy and touchy in the moment, so Suedo understood him just fine, even without words.
And then, he raked his hands through katou's damp and sweaty hair, asking him what was going on in a surprisingly non-chalant way. Neither his caring and sweet actions, nor him asking was normal for this man, but Suedo couldn't help it.
Kiyosumi took a long drag of his cigarette before putting it out and rolling onto his side as Suedo huffed before hugging the black haired man close.
In the middle of the night, Kiyosumi just randomly woke up, turning his body which caused the sheets to shuffle with his muscular form as he looked at Suedo's sleeping face illuminated by the moonlight.
Biting his bottom lip, kiyosumi curled up again, all that peace of mind leaving as soon as he once again came to the realization of what he had done like how he did every.single.time.
God, kiyosumi felt so pathetic.
>≻───── ⋆✩⋆ ─────≺<
"Kiyosumi, I'm glad you came!"
Cringing at her high pitched voice, Kiyosumi gave his sister a soft glare before putting out his cigarette as the both of them headed into the house in front of them, the door opening upon his sisters ringing of the door bell.
"Oh dear, you two came! I'm glad!"
The short, frail looking woman said, smiling up at her children before gently cupping kiyosumi's face.
"My, what a handsome young man, you look just like your father-"
"Mom, let him get inside first."
Hana said, gently swatting at her mother's wrists, the woman nodding, releasing kiyosumi's face, the man clenching his jaw. He hated when his mother did that.
Both him and Hana took their shoes off, the black haired woman putting them away neatly just like him. He was good mannered when it came to certain things, after all.
Once inside, he handed off a messily wrapped gift to Keichi, wishing his younger brother a happy birthday as the young man beamed with joy, smiling at the man he admired.
God how Kiyosumi both hated and loved that stare.
He loved it because, especially when he and Keichi were younger, he always protected his little brother and just loved the way said boy's whole face would light up with admiration when he saw him. He'll yeah, he really was the world's coolest older brother, that's right Keichi, and don't you forget it! Call him strong again, go on, he really was insanely strong, wasn't he? Even if a certain grandmaster rarely acknowledged it.
It started in high school that he began disliking it deeply. Sure, he was still cocky about how strong he was like before, but now there were... Other things. His constant smoking, boozing, fucking, those were things he didn't want his younger brother to do.
Sure, they made Kiyosumi cool, (except for the last one, because this was before he would've ever tried having sex with men and he was incredibly awkward during and after sex with women since, well, he just wasn't really meant for it) but they could easily fuck up Keichi's life.
And then, after his first time having sex with another man (Probably someone from the dojo), he began absolutely fucking hating it. How could his little brother look at him with such admiration when he did something so shameful and wrong....?
It would've baffled anyone else to find out that Kiyosumi Katou hated being admired, since, at the dojo, he looooved whenever anyone even praised him and was generally pretty cocky, it even baffled Kiyosumi a bit now like he'd ever admit it, but it was probably because of their parents.
Kiyosumi came from a rather traditional family, A salary man father, a housewife mother and two siblings, his life could've been lived pretty normal. Except for the fact that his parents, despite their plain jobs and normal appearances behaved in ways that would surely cause at least some heads to turn.
Take his father for example; Hardworking salary man that used the weekend to unwind and go on camping or fishing trips, spending little time with his family, and when he did, usually just being a rather stoic, not very emotional man. He never really did much with Kiyosumi, other than occasionally taking an hour on a Sunday to teach him basic 'manly' skills, which to his father meant, teaching him mechanical things, maybe helping with mathematics homework and one time very reluctantly taking him out to fish.
His mother, whom most people pitied because they thought she was some poor, unloved housewife, was one of the most mentally unstable people he'd ever met, and while he partially felt bad for how his father treated her, he couldn't handle her outburst.
She could go from being overly affectionate, mainly physically, to the point it started freaking Kiyosumi out, to crying and screaming at them for the smallest slip up and just looking at them and treating them with disgust. Sometimes she'd just sit at the kitchen table, crying about why her husband didn't love her until Hana would just come up and try to escort her mother to the bedroom so the woman could sleep.
In those moments when his mother had her breakdowns, he felt bad for Keichi who was completely overwhelmed by all of this. Not like Kiyosumi ever did anything to comfort him, he'd just leave and go to the dojo or hang out with his delinquent buddies, but he felt bad, he truly did.
"Thank's Kiyo!"
Keichi cheered, clearly excited over the gift as Hana nodded with a small hum of surprise that her younger brother actually managed to get Keichi a gift. Kiyosumi just gave a curt nod before the four of them sat down for tea and cake, his mother smiling, her hands folded in her lap, the table next to her also set as he took in her appearance and realized she had dolled herself up a bit, wearing makeup and jewelry, her long black hair down instead of in its usual bun.
"Your father promised to join us later!"
She excitedly announced as Keichi smiled happily. Out of the three, he was the one who craved their parents attention the most. And while Hana tried to uphold at least basic communication and social interaction, Kiyosumi just completely ignored them.
"Now, how are you doing? Hana, have you found a boyfriend yet, because my friend, she has this son, around your age, you used to play together-"
"I have a girlfriend, mom. You've met Chiyo before, I don't need a boyfriend."
His mother frowned a bit.
"Hana, you can't possibly expect to be happy with a girl by your side. What about children, how will you have those?"
"We can adopt or maybe, I just don't want kids? Not every woman has to live that picket fence dream, you know that, right?"
The woman responded, clearly annoyed with her mothers old fashioned attitude as the woman told Hana not to paint her out to be the villain.
"I'm just worried, that's all, don't be mad at your mother for worrying!"
She said, her voice taking on the hurt one she always put on when she wanted to act like the victim. Kiyosumi hated it, but he just clicked his tongue slightly. Goddammit he needed a cigarette right now.
Then, his mother continued trying to make small talk, Keichi and Hana joining in, but Kiyosumi couldn't care less.
"Ah, Kiyo, how about you? You're doing so much of that karate, you've become such a good man, are there any cute girl's you're interested in?"
"No."
"Well, I suppose it's just like in middle school. All you cared about is that karate, I guess that means there's no space in your life."
His mother chuckled.
"But I know this other woman, her daughter is such a good girl, I'm sure you two would be a perfect pair! Why don't I give you her number, hmm? Or even better, she could come over and-"
"No. I'm not interested-"
"Oh don't be like that, I'm sure once you meet her-"
"Mom, I said I'm not-"
"But you can't be happy with just that karate! A young man like you should experience love, you should kiss and go on dates and-"
Kiyosumi clicked his fingers against his thigh, clearly starting to get annoyed, but before he could scream at her, Keichi interrupted them both.
"I-I met somebody too!"
Silence.
Kiyosumi raised a brow at his younger brother's flustered behaviour before the boy spoke up again.
"They're really kind and sweet and I wanted to maybe...introduce them to you today-"
"They're? Do you mean she?"
Kiyosumi scoffed as Hana elbowed him in the side and Keichi froze over.
"Uhmm...I..."
"That's wonderful news, I'm sure she's a lovely girl! Why didn't you tell me about her earlier?"
"Because it's not a girl."
Hana smacked Kiyosumi over the back of the head at this statement, the man just glaring at her as her mother looked at Keichi in confusion.
"Keichi, she's a girl, right?"
"Yes..."
He sounded like he wanted to add something, but he didn't,kiyosumi's dark eyes picking up on how his younger brother let his nails sink into his thighs.
And then, just as Keichi seemed to reach a certain determination to speak up again, the front door opened, which seemed to turn their mother into a whole different person as she rushed to the door to greet her husband and kiyosumi scoffed while Hana squeezed Keichi's hand under the table.
"It's fine if it's not a girl Keichi."
"It is a girl!"
The young man's insistance made his statement seem less true, but Kiyosumi couldn't care less. Or at least that's what he told himself.
Once his father and mother entered the room again, what ensued was the worst dinner Kiyosumi had ever had, but despite his uncaring attitude,he could tell it was worse for Keichi.
Fiddling with his fingers, the boy seemed overly anxious to say something that never made it past his lips, and Kiyosumi kind of wanted to tell him to man up and say something, but he refrained. Why should he care?
Eventually, the pressure seemed to wear him down enough so that he finally spoke.
"I'm not...I don't feel like Keichi anymore. Now that I'm eighteen, I think I can finally say it with certainty."
Kiyosumi quirked a brow.
"The hell you mean, you don't feel like Keichi anymore?"
He asked, his mother looking at Keichi and his father between short, worried glances.
"What are you saying sweetheart-"
"I'm not a man. I don't feel like a man."
And once again during the short time the five of them had been together in the tidy living room, there was silence.
"Oh, that's perfectly normal, congratulations on coming out-"
"So, what, you're a crossdresser? A ladyboy?"
His father's words were disgusted both in tone and what he chose to say as he wiped his mouth with his paper towel before getting up.
"Darling, please, I'm sure he didn't- K-Keichi, you don't mean it, yeah? You mean, you're a bit feminine, right? You're still my son, right?"
Kiyosumi just looked at Keichi in confusion. This was... Was Keichi Transgender?
He had heard of that, probably from Katsumi or something.
It was almost a bit funny to Kiyosumi if he was honest to himself, that both of his parents were so old fashioned and homophobic, and his sister was a lesbian, he was, though he'd never openly admit it, gay, and his little brother turned out to not be a brother at all.
"No it's nothing like that, I'm not... I'm not a crossdresser or anything. I don't feel like a guy or a girl I just-"
Keichi was babbling, cleaely sweaty as keichi tried explaining keichi's feelings.
"Oh, you're non binary, that's completely normal!"
Hana assured Keichi who, in all of Keichi's panic looked at Kiyosumi for help.
There it was.
That look they had always given him when their mother had a break down.
Sadly for Keichi, Kiyosumi still wasn't one for comforting, so he grumbled something about smoking, getting up and going outside as Hana looked after him in disappointment while she tried comforting Keichi.
Their mother was a sobbing mess at this point, asking the world how she deserved this, begging Keichi to say they were joking and to apologize to their father.
Meanwhile, Kiyosumi was standing outside, having a smoke, Hana eventually leaving, screaming at their mother how insensitive she was and whatever, brushing right past Kiyosumi, Keichi stumbling out until they stood by their brother's side.
"Kiyo... Is there something wrong with me?"
Oh god keichi shouldn't be so vulnerable around Kiyosumi. The Japanese man took a long, maybe even too long, drag of his cigarette before staring at Keichi.
"I don't know man."
Upon Keichi's crying, Kiyosumi lazily wrapped an arm around Keichi, before telling them not to listen to their mother.
"Look I won't... I won't pretend to be super supportive or whatever. I don't care if you're my brother or sister or whatever,we never hang out anyway."
He put his cigarette out on the wall, right next to him before just staying quiet as Keichi sobbed into his chest.
This was part of why he didn't want Keichi to look up to him.
Part of him believed that what he hated most about himself, who he loved and who he was had influenced Keichi like this and he couldn't help but feel a bit guilty.
And yet, he also felt jealous. His younger sibling, who had always looked up to him had managed to tell both of their pparents something like that, while Kiyosumi still hid that he wasn't interested in women one bit out of sheer and utter fear. How pathetic.
"W-Will they hate me now...?"
Keichi sniffled and Kiyosumi shrugged.
"Yeah. But who cares anyway."
Keichi's crying increased as Kiyosumi said something that shocked him even more than it did Keichi.
"Why don't you come to the shinshinkai with me?"
He wasn't even sure why he said it, maybe because he had found comfort in the dojo?
Maybe because he saw doppo and natsue as better alternatives to his parents? He had no idea. But before he could take the words back, Keichi spoke.
"I'd really love that."
Well fuck.
Now he couldn't take it back.
But, he thought, maybe it'd be fine. Maybe they'd have a good time, maybe Kiyosumi could feel good and like not so much of a disappointment with his younger sibling there to admire him.
Yeah, he liked that idea, so much so, it managed to make him smile a bit, so much so that it managed to make his stress and anger momentarily melt away as for the first time in years, he felt like an actual good, respectable older brother.
He liked it a lot.

Stuck with me

Prompt: After a long day at work and a bad day overall in general, all you are looking forward to is to hug your boyfriend and cuddle with him and your puppy.
Tags: fluff, some angst i guess but fluff overall, established relationship, pet names, gender neutral y/n
Word count: 3.4k
You rest your head on the cold window of the bus and sigh, the window getting a bit foggy from the hot breath that left your lips. Today was horrible for so many reasons and you don’t even know where to begin.
It could be that you ran late for work today and got scolded by your boss and your team leader, but in the morning while you were running after the bus a car passed you so fast that splashed water on your light coloured suit pants given that it snowed all week and there was dirty melted snow everywhere, you just hope you didn’t catch a cold. And given that you were very late to work, you had to stay overtime and get everything done. Thankfully it was a Friday and you have the whole weekend to destress and prepare mentally for a new week.
While you were watching out the window and waiting for your stop, it hit you why your day was so bad: your boyfriend wasn’t home to wish you to have a good day today. He was out walking your dog. That is totally it. You feel silly thinking it but it makes complete sense. You will have a talk with him when you see him.
Once you are one bus stop away from the station you have to get off at, you stand up and almost fall when the driver suddenly pushes the break and then hear a bunch of car honks, causing you to have a headache. You hold on to the bar with all your might, but you still hit your hip on one of the seats because of the sudden break. At last your stop comes right after and you get off, glad that this day was finally coming to an end.
You walk the three minutes that are in between the bus station and your house and you see the lights on in the living room, tears gathering at the corner of your eyes at the thought of you finally getting to see your boyfriend. Your trembling hands look for the keys in your backpack and once you find them you unlock the front door. You quickly take off your shoes that were dirty from all the dirty water that was splashed on them and leave your backpack on the floor and hang your coat, making quick steps towards the living room where you assumed your boyfriend would be at. And you were right.
The first thing you see once you enter the room is your boyfriend laying on the couch with the remote in his hand, fast asleep, with your puppy (a 5 months old golden retriever that you initially didn’t want, but you could not say no to your boyfriend’s puppy eyes) laying on his chest, also fast asleep. You smile at the sight and the tears you were holding in up to that point break out and fall down your face. You could really use Yunho’s hugs right now, but you don’t want to disturb his sleep, even though he would be upset if he found out that you were needing him and didn’t wake him up, but that’s a problem for later.
You make your way towards the couch and take the nicely-folded blanket that was hanging from the couch’s headrest and you quietly unfold it while wiping away your tears and sniffling your nose. You were about to put the blanket over the two of them until the universe once again wasn’t on your side and your phone that was in your back pocket of your pants falls with a very loud thud, making the puppy wake up and start barking, jumping off of Yunho who was slowly waking up from his sleep startled, rubbing his eyes.
You were trying to make the puppy calm down, repeating multiple times “Milo please quiet. Calm down” in an attempt to not wake up your boyfriend, but once you see Yunho adjusting his eyes to the light, you sigh defeated and put the blanket aside and sit on the couch, quickly wiping your tears once again, before your boyfriend could see them.
The puppy was now on your lap, wagging his tail happily that you were finally home. With the corner of your eye you look at your boyfriend who is now standing up and stretching his limbs. He looks at your profile and then he frowns, now sitting on the ground in front of your legs so he could face you and see your face, cupping your cheek and dragging your face towards him so he could see you better, his thumb stopping some of the tears. Oh no.
“Hi baby. Slept well?” you ask him, in a pathetic attempt to play it off as cool. He quickly inspects your features and then checks over the rest of your body, noticing your dirty pants and trembling hands that were trying to hide in the puppy’s fur.
“Sweetheart what happened?” he asks while his thumb was rubbing slow circles on your cheek, his eyes worriedly and lovingly looking into yours. You try to look away and avoid his piercing gaze. “Tell me baby, let me help you, hmm?” he continues in a soft voice, desperately trying to meet your gaze. And that was the moment that everything you were holding back up to that point crumbled. His puppy eyes were too much for you and made it impossible for you to not break down.
You let out a pathetic sob before basically jumping on him, now the both of you are sitting on the ground. You wrap your arms around his neck and let out all your frustrations of the day, while his hands were quick to wrap around your waist, one of his hands going up and down your back trying to calm you down, repeatedly whispering into your ear “It’s okay baby, I’m here now. Let it all out. Nothing can hurt you now, I’m here.”. To be quite honest, his soothing words were only making you cry more.
After what seemed to be an eternity of crying in Yunho’s arms, with Milo sleeping on the couch next to your heads, you slowly pull away from his tight hug, looking at him. You could feel how red and puffy your eyes were and you could see his heart break the moment he saw you like this. You wiped away the residue of the tears with the back of your hand and let out an awkward laugh. “I’m sorry for jumping on you like that and dirtying your shirt. And I’m also sorry for waking you up, I really didn’t want to.” you say while pointing at the wet spot on his shirt where your tears were earlier landing on. Yunho just looks at you, with his messy brown hair slightly getting in his eyes and takes your hands into his.
“Never ever apologise for anything baby, please. It breaks my heart seeing you like this. Want to talk about what happened? Or would distracting you be more helpful? Did you eat? Are you hungry? Want me to run you a bath? God, I should’ve thought you’d be tired after a day of work, I’m sorry for not preparing anything…” he rambles while worriedly looking at you and you can’t help but let out a chuckle which stops Yunho from his train of thought. “...Was I rambling again?” he asks shily and you nod, making him smile. “Yeah, but it was cute.” you tell him and rest your head on his shoulder, letting out a sigh. “Can we cuddle?” you ask while your head was still on his shoulder.
Your boyfriend doesn’t reply, instead he stands up and lays on the couch, patting the empty spot that was next to him. His back rests on the huge pillows that are on the couch, and he opens his arms towards you. You smile at the sight and crawl into his arms, instantly wrapping your arms around his chest and as he wraps his arms around yours.
“Milo, come!” he says a bit louder and immediately after the puppy sleepily stands up and sits next to Yunho’s torso, resuming his sleep right after, at which you chuckle. Yunho looks at you and smiles fondly while you better rest your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat calming you down.
“Today sucked.” you state while looking in the void. He hums, encouraging you to continue whenever you are ready to while he is caressing your head, occasionally playing with your hair. “I was late for work, was scolded for it and had to stay overtime, I got splashed with dirty water by a car, the ride back home was horrible, the computer kept crashing at work and had to redo the project sheet I was working on.” you let everything out, recalling everything that happened, Yunho’s arms and his scent being the only things that were keeping you from crying again. You take a deep breath in and when you exhale it comes out shaky.
“And everything happened because you didn’t wish me to have a good day this morning.” you say in a playful tone, trying to change the atmosphere, hearing him let out a choked laugh, which makes you laugh in return.
“Shit, you’re right…” is all he can say after thinking about this morning, retracing his steps and realising that he did not, in fact, wish you a good day. “Baby I am so sorry, it completely went over my head, I was too tired and focused on preparing Milo for the walk. I am so so sorry.” he states while whispering the ‘w’ word so that Milo doesn’t get excited, which you find cute, but pointless, as the puppy’s ears raised and looked at the two of you, wagging his tail. Yunho sighs and you laugh.
At this point you were fondly looking into his eyes, feeling how all your troubles were melting away in his touch and words.
“You’re so cute. Thank you for listening to my dumb problems.” you say as you once again nuzzle your head into his chest and hug him tightly, inhaling his cologne that now smelled like home to you. He grabs your chin with his thumb and pointer finger and forces you to look at him.
“They are not dumb problems, they are just problems. And I’m so sorry you had a bad day baby. I hope I can make this weekend the best for you.” he finishes his sentence by pulling you into a slow, lingering kiss, making you knees melt and bringing butterflies in your stomach. “Want me to run you a bath?” he asks after pulling away and kissing the tip of your nose.
“I think someone else is waiting for something though.” you say while looking at Milo who was now on the floor playing with his leash. You hear Yunho chuckle and it makes your heart flutter. You watch him as he looks at Milo biting and tugging at the leash and you feel as if your heart is about to explode from the love you carry for this man.
“Then I will run you a bath and in the meantime I will go walk Milo?” he asks and the puppy barks and jumps in circles after hearing his favourite word. Yunho looks at you and with one of your hands you reach for his forehead and push away the hair that was covering his forehead, caressing his face. The love you have for this man…
You take a glance at the window and you notice that it is now snowing outside. Your smile grows.
“No way I’m missing a walk with you and Milo when outside is snowing so beautifully. Let me change.” you say and quickly leave his embrace, not giving him any time to protest. You run to your shared room and quickly take off the dirty, uncomfortable clothes and change into a pair of sweats and one of Yunho’s hoodies. When you go back downstairs you see Yunho on the ground trying to tie his shoes, however Milo was interrupting him and either biting his hands or shoelaces, which makes you giggle. Adopting this puppy was the best decision you two have ever made.
“Come Milo! Let dad get ready for the walk.” you say as you try to distract the puppy, pulling him into your arms and letting him bite your hand playfully, giving Yunho enough time to put on his boots. Ater that the two of you switched duties so that you could put on your boots as well. Your boyfriend put on Milo’s coat and then helped you with your own.
“You sure you don’t wanna sit this walk out?” your boyfriend asks you once more before unlocking the door, at which you nod with a wide smile on your face. “I need this walk as much as Milo does.” you state and Yunho laughs. He kisses your forehead and hands you over Milo’s leash so he can unlock the door easier. You get outside and wait for Yunho to lock the door, admiring the way huge snowflakes were falling from the sky. When you look down you see Milo trying to bite them.
You are surprised by Yunho’s arms resting on your shoulders and pulling you into a back hug and you let out a surprised squeak. He kisses your cheek and then pulls away, taking Milo’s leash from your hands and offers you his arm to hold on to it while you walk together through the snowy night. You gladly take it and so the walk begins.
The street was silent, besides the occasional cars that were passing by and your steps on the freshly laid snow. You quickly reach the park you usually walk Milo in and you take off his leash, leaving him to run around the park freely, the two of you sitting on a bench while still having the hyperactive puppy in sight. You rest your head on your boyfriend’s shoulder and let out a deep breath, fog escaping your lips. You rub your cold hands together while breathing on them, in an attempt to warm them up.
When your boyfriend sees you struggling he takes off his scarf and wraps it around your neck and you instantly nuzzle into the warm material, inhaling his scent. He then takes your hands into his big, weirdly warm ones to warm up yours. He brings your hands to his lips and he kisses your fingers before breathing warm air on to them, making you blush and being grateful that the scarf and the cold were covering most of your face.
After your hands were all warmed up he urged you to put them in your pockets to keep them warm, which you do. Yunho then cups your face and his now slightly colder hands were caressing your cheeks, while he was looking into your eyes lovingly.
To him you were the prettiest person to ever exist in that moment: your cheeks and your nose were pink from the cold, lips slightly chapped from the change in weather, while you were wearing his scarf that was slowly getting covered in snowflakes, your hair being adorned with snowflakes as well. He really felt that in that moment he was falling in love with you all over again.
“Now, don’t you dare catch a cold, yes? I want you to stay happy and healthy with me. I have plans for this weekend to help you destress, ok?” he softly says, saying the first question in a more warning tone. His words make you smile and you nod, shifting your head so that you could kiss his palm, leaning into his touch afterwards.
“You’re beautiful, Yuyu. Inside and out.” you say while admiring his features. His very red cheeks and pink chapped lips, with big snowflakes all over his dark brown hair, made him look like he had stars on his head. You take out one of your hands from your pocket to ruffle his hair, snow rapidly falling from his head which makes you smile. “I love you so much, Yuyu, thank you for sticking by my side for so long.” are the words you let out before he pulls you into a hug and you are quick to hug him back, squeezing him tightly, while your eyes are fixed on the puppy that was either biting the snowflakes that were falling on him or jumping into piles of snow.
“Don’t get sappy now. I love you too. So much. Thank you for letting me stick to your side. I am not going to leave your side ever, you are stuck with me.”
“Oh no, the horror!” you sarcastically say and you can hear him chuckle. God how you love that sound. “Should we head home? It seems that Milo is getting tired as well.” you say while pointing to the puppy that was now slowly coming towards the two of you, exhausted from all the running and jumping.
Yunho stands up and picks Milo up after he brushes off all the snow that gathered on his coat. Milo rests his tiny head on Yunho’s arm and soon after falls asleep. “I really hope he won’t wake up in the middle of the night this time to bark at nothing.” you state while walking next to Yunho, burying your face into the scarf, looking for warmth. “Mhm. We should be fine tonight, he seems to be very tired.” Yunho states as he looks at the puppy in his arms, who was faintly wagging his tail in his sleep. Adorable.
Once you reach your front door again, your boyfriend tells you to get the keys from his coat’s pocket, and once you are inside your house he takes off Milo’s coat, quickly cleans the puppy’s paws and places him on his bed, putting a blanket on top of him. Only after he’s done with Milo does Yunho take off his shoes and coat, looking at you and sighing, resting his head on the wall behind him.
“The walk on this weather was beautiful but fuck, we are never staying this long on a snowy bench again.” he says and you giggle. While he is still leaning on the wall, his hands reach for your shoulders and pull you into one of his warm, bear hugs, resting his chin on the top of your head, your ear directly pressed over his chest, hearing his heartbeat slowing down.
“Are you feeling any better sweetheart?” he asks while slightly rocking left and right with you in his arms. You nod. “Yes, and it’s all thanks to you.” you admit and you can feel him smile.
“I will go run you a bath and then will cook something, does that sound good?” he asks after he pulls away a bit. You smile and nod, your whole body being overwhelmed with love for him. “Alright then. You just rest until the bath is ready, yes? Maybe think of what you’d like to eat.” Yunho says as he starts walking towards the living room while holding your hand, making you sit on the couch.
Yunho leans in and kisses the top of your head multiple times and then cups your face, pulling you into one of his slow, loving kisses, that was worth more than any amount of words in this world, making your stomach do flips. After that he leaves to prepare your bath.
You sit more comfortably on the couch and throw the blanket over your body to warm yourself up while thinking about the walk the two of you were on. A very tired Milo jumps on the couch and sits next to you, planning to continue his nap next to you. You smile and slowly pet the puppy. You were against the idea of getting him, but when Yunho was holding Milo in his arms, his eyes pleading that you accept him, you gave in, and to this day you are not regretting it, as seeing Yunho smile brightly every day is worth anything. Your heart is once again overwhelmed with the love you feel for him.
“So? What do you feel like having?” you hear Yunho’s voice from the kitchen and smile. You are insanely in love with this man.
