As Nightwing, I'm used to planning and executing covert missions, battling supervillains, and protecting Gotham City. But tonight, I'm embarking on a different kind of operation—one that doesn't involve any of the usual crime-fighting gadgets. Tonight, I'm planning a surprise birthday party for someone incredibly special to me: you.

Your birthday is just around the corner, and I've been keeping track of the days like a hawk. I've been sneaking moments here and there to plan the perfect celebration, carefully orchestrating each detail to ensure your absolute delight. I want this night to be unforgettable—a testament to how much you mean to me.

First things first, I had to find the ideal venue for this grand occasion. After considering various options, I settled on Wayne Manor's sprawling garden. The picturesque backdrop of flowers, the gentle whispers of the night breeze, and the moon's radiant glow would set the stage for a magical evening. Alfred, my trusted ally, graciously agreed to help with the preparations, and together, we transformed the garden into a hidden wonderland.

Next, the guest list. Choosing the right people to attend was essential. I wanted to gather your closest friends and family, people who have witnessed the depth of your kindness, strength, and compassion. Each invitation was thoughtfully crafted and hand-delivered, a personal touch to convey just how important this night is.

Time flew, and the day of your birthday finally arrived. I found myself eagerly awaiting the moment when the sun would dip below the horizon, casting its farewell for the day and allowing the stars to claim the sky. It was then that I would unveil the surprise, like a fireworks display illuminating the darkness.

With every passing minute, anticipation coiled within me, urging the hours to pass faster. As night descended upon Gotham City, my heart raced with excitement and nervous energy. I had spent countless nights training, mastering my acrobatics, and honing my detective skills, but nothing had prepared me for this surge of emotions.

As you arrived home, weary from the day's activities, I did my best to conceal the excitement that bubbled inside me. I greeted you with a gentle kiss, masking my intentions behind an affectionate embrace. You leaned into the hug, offering a content sigh, and little did you know that within those arms, a world of surprises awaited you.

"Happy birthday, love," I whispered, my voice filled with warmth and adoration. "I have something special planned for you tonight. But first, let's take a moment to celebrate just the two of us."

Your eyes sparkled with curiosity as you looked at me, a playful smile dancing on your lips. "What do you have in mind, Nightwing?"

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box. Opening it, I revealed a delicate necklace adorned with a pendant shaped like a night sky. The pendant glistened with tiny, sparkling stars, capturing the essence of our shared moments under the starlit sky.

"I wanted to give you something that reminded you of our countless nights together," I said, my voice filled with emotion. "Each star represents a memory we've created, a moment we've shared. Whenever you wear this necklace, know that you carry a piece of our love and connection with you."

Tears welled up in your eyes as you reached out to take the necklace, holding it close to your heart. "Dick, this is the most beautiful gift I've ever received. It's perfect."

Cupping your face in my hands, I wiped away a tear with my thumb, my voice filled with tenderness. "You deserve nothing less than perfection, my love. Now, let's embark on the rest of our magical night together. There are more surprises waiting for you."

Hand in hand, we ventured into the garden, where the enchantment of the night unfolded before us. The soft glow of lanterns guided our way as we wandered through the maze of blossoming flowers. Laughter and music filled the air, mingling with the sound of your delighted gasps and contagious laughter.

As the evening progressed, we found ourselves stealing moments amidst the celebration, sharing whispered conversations and stolen kisses. With each passing hour, the love between us deepened, strengthened by the magic of this night.

But is quick to spear you and give you a noogie

I feel like the way ya’lls team came to be wasn’t because he was soughing after a tag team partner (cause he’s Eddie Kingston and he’ll kick anyone's ass)

But it came to be when you helped even the odds with JAS and you actually didn’t mind fighting the dudes

At that moment, Eddie knew you were his partner

“Why Me?”

“Because you literally just kicked everyone’s ass…besides you’re the only other person in the back I like…besides Mox and Lulu of course.”

That’s right; out of all the enemies and allies he had in the back, he considered you an ally

HOWEVER, I still think he wouldn’t open up to you immediately but would gradually become more comfortable with you

At first, he would only talk to you for match purposes

And then he started hanging out with you a little bit before the show

And then he would text you “you good?” If he hasn’t heard from you (if you respond, he’ll say “great, btw fuck you”

Everything would change when he needed a place to crash cause all the hotel rooms were taken and you allowed him to crash with you

Although he left before you could wake up, he left you a note stating how he’s blessed that he has you as a friend

Now ya’ll at the point where ya’ll are inseparable

Where ever you go, he goes, and vice versa

Ya’ll in each other favorite contacts

Eddie would act like he genuinely doesn’t like you (in the eyes of others) but everyone knows he adores you

You two know each other like the back of your hands

You two could pick up on the other’s next move without talking (you could expect/predict what he was gonna do and how you follow up or help)

I can just see him lightly slap your head to signify a tag

If ya’ll won, then ya’ll were celebrating by doing chest bumps and getting food after the show

If ya’ll lost, Eddie would just berate everyone in sight (except for you)

Despite what he says, he would never talk down to you or degrade you (you’re his soft spot)

Would introduce you to Mox and form a trio if the situation called for it

Overall…Being Eddie Kingston’s tag team partner would be a rollercoaster, but one that would become your favorite rollercoaster

A Year in Review : Jamie's 2023

Welcome to our look back on Jamie’s 2023! It’s been a tough year for the entertainment industry in general, with the SAG-AFTRA strike taking place from July all the way through to November, and we know that this impacted Jamie as he chose to take a stand along with many of his other acting peers. Yet despite this, Jamie has accomplished a lot in this year & it’s time to look back at some of the highlights!

February saw the release of Beyond Paradise on BBC1. Jamie played Archie Hughes, an ex flame of Martha’s who joined forces with her in getting her new business in Shipton Abbott up and running. Unfortunately for Archie, Martha had moved back to Shipton Abbott with her fiance, Humphrey and the two didn’t quite see eye to eye. This was such a fun role for Jamie and a complete joy to watch.

April was an exciting month which saw Jamie celebrating his 50th birthday and as always we marked the occasion with a birthday video which many of you took part in! He also travelled over to Cannes to premiere Cannes Confidential at the 6th Canneseries Festival alongside co-stars Lucie Lucas and Tamara Marthe.

May saw Jamie treading the boards once again in Uncle Glen’s Menagerie at the Arcola Theatre which we were lucky enough to go and watch. Such an incredible evening of ad-lib comedy and superb acting from an incredible group of actors and comedians. As ever we want to thank Jamie for his time that he spent chatting with us before and after the show too.

In June finally came the UK release of Cannes Confidential on Acorn TV and we LOVED Harry King from the moment we met him. Such a fun, easy watching show and such a complex character in which Jamie got to show off all sides of his talent, from comedy through to some really beautiful emotional moments, especially in scenes with his on-screen daughter Emilie who was played by his real life daughter Ava in a brilliant debut performance. June also saw the release of Trader over in Russia - a project which Jamie filmed alongside his amazing wife Kerry all the way back in 2019! And of course, we cannot forget the epic BSG reunion which took place when Jamie headed over to Phoenix Fan Fusion. #SoSayWeAll

July brought some incredible news as Jamie announced that he was taking part in Kenny Logan’s RWC Challenge - an epic 700 mile cycle & walking challenge from Edinburgh to Paris, all to raise money for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Throughout July all the way through to October when the challenge took place, Jamie was training hard to ensure that he was ready for the mammoth challenge ahead.

August saw the release of Who Is Erin Carter? on Netflix - a twisty, fast paced thriller from the mind of Strike Back writer, Jack Lothian. Jamie played DI Jim Armstrong, a mysterious figure from Erin’s past. Though he was only in two episodes. We LOVED this character and with the series being left open ended, we really hope we get to see more of Jim in the future.

In September, Jamie attended the National Television Awards alongside his Beyond Paradise cast mates as the show was nominated for Best New Drama (which sadly it didn’t win).

And onto October which was such an important month for Jamie as all the training paid off when he & so many other incredible people including Kenny & Gabby Logan, Ally McCoist, Jason Fox and Jimmy Nesbitt started their gruelling trek on bike and foot from Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh to the Stade de France in Paris. This challenge was hugely life changing for the whole team (as well as a whole lot of fun!) and they smashed their target of raising £555,555 between them for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. We were honoured to be able to cheer them all on for a small part of this journey when we saw them off in York on day 3 and welcomed them back as they ended the day at the beautiful Belvoir Castle. To top off an incredible achievement, Jamie was also asked to become an ambassador for the foundation - a role we know that he will embody so well.

October also saw Jamie joining Cameo, giving fans the opportunity to get a personalised video message from him (which we of course took advantage of also!) and to round off the month, Cannes Confidential aired on French TV, renamed Cannes Police Criminalle, with the entire show having been dubbed into French by the original cast.

November saw Jamie as a guest on fellow RWC Challenge team mate Archie Curzon’s podcast, The Rig Biz Pod, which was a brilliantly funny interview.

And to round the year off, December gave us announcements of not one but two new projects to look forward to in 2024! Firstly, Heavyweight, starring and produced by Jamie’s Marcella co-star Nicholas Pinnock, will be a gritty London drama focusing on the mental state of a boxer and his cornermen backstage before the fight as the clock ticks down.

With the strike finally over, Jamie travelled to Bulgaria to film Strangers alongside Sienna Guillory, Emmett J Scanlan and Jon Voight. The project is described as an action thriller and will be released in 2024 on Paramount Plus.

As well as these two exciting announcements, AKA Blackbird, the brainchild of BSG alumni James Callis was finally released as an audiobook! With so many former BSG stars taking part in it, including Jamie and Kerry, it’s definitely not one to be missed.

And there you have it! Despite some difficult times, Jamie really did achieve a lot this year and with 2 projects already to look forward to, we can’t wait to see what else 2024 has in store.

Why are people acting like noah being a zionist is controversial to the GA or will get will/byler written off the show? Most of the US supports Israel, the US president (a democrat) supports Israel, +700 celebrities just made a open letter supporting Israel with the support a lots of big CEOs. It’s only controversial to a bubble of people online, he even lost more followers on ig when he posted about pride than now. Some of the cast liked it and shawn levy literally applauded his statement.

Yeah I tried explaining this on twitter to a few confused individuals. A main producer of the show Shawn levy liked and reposted Noah’s text, the thought of noah ever being recasted is hilarious to even think about. Even if no one in the show agreed with him replacing him for the last season where his characters supposed to be a main role? Come on now. Also yes hollyweird is very pro Israel and the amount of celebs who posted “I stand with Israel” is a great testimony to this. Not just hollywerid obviously the White House The President, The Republican Christian’s etc..

Israel has a lot of support in America as it’s an ally of a country, a lot of the media and people are against Palestinians. The rhetoric that Noah is saying is false everyone and their mama has spoke about Israel, can’t say the same for palestine except for the bubble of people you mentioned online.

The hypothesis that the Anglo-Saxon axis is pivotal to the proxy war in Ukraine against Russia is only partly true. Germany is actually Ukraine’s second largest arms supplier, after the United States. Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged a new arms package worth 700 million euros, including additional tanks, munitions and Patriot air defence systems at the Nato summit in Vilnius, putting Berlin, as he said, at the very forefront of military support for Ukraine.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius stressed, “By doing this, we’re making a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s staying power.” However, the pantomime playing out may have multiple motives.

Fundamentally, Germany’s motivation is traceable to the crushing defeat by the Red Army and has little to do with Ukraine as such. The Ukraine crisis has provided the context for accelerating Germany’s militarisation. Meanwhile, revanchist feelings are rearing their head and there is a “bipartisan consensus” between Germany’s leading centrist parties — CDU, SPD and Green Party — in this regard.

In an interview in the weekend, the CDU’s leading foreign and defence expert Roderich Kiesewetter (an ex-colonel who headed the Association of Reservists of the Bundeswehr from 2011 to 2016) suggested that if conditions warrant in the Ukraine situation, the Nato should consider to “cut off Kaliningrad from the Russian supply lines. We see how Putin reacts when he is under pressure.” Berlin is still smarting under the surrender of the ancient Prussian city of Königsberg in April 1945.

Stalin ordered 1.5 million Soviet troops supported by several thousand tanks and aircraft to attack the crack Nazi Panzer divisions deeply entrenched in Königsberg. The capture of the heavily fortified stronghold of Königsberg by the Soviet army was celebrated in Moscow with an artillery salvo by 324 cannons firing 24 shells each.

Evidently, Kiesewetter’s remarks show that nothing is forgotten or forgiven in Berlin even after 8 decades. Thus, Germany is the Biden Administration’s closest ally in the war against Russia. The German government has stated its understanding for the Biden administration’s controversial decision to supply Ukraine with cluster ammunition. The government spokesman commented in Berlin, “We are certain that our US friends did not make their decision lightly, to deliver this sort of munition.”

President Frank-Walter Steinmeier remarked, “In the current situation, one should not obstruct the USA.” Indeed, the top CDU figure Kiesewetter suggested in an interview with the Green Party-affiliated daily “taz” that not only should Ukraine be given “guarantees, and if necessary, even provided with nuclear assistance, as an intermediary step to NATO membership.”

Coinciding with the NATO summit in Vilnius (July 11-12), Rheinmetal, the great 135-year old German arms manufacturing company, has disclosed that it is opening an armoured vehicle plant in western Ukraine at an undisclosed location in the next twelve weeks. To begin with, German Fuchs armoured personnel carriers will be built and repaired while there are plans afoot to manufacture ammunition and possibly even air defence systems and tanks.

Rheinmetall’s CEO told CNN on Monday that like other Ukrainian arms factories, the new plant could be protected from Russian air attack. Germany has more than doubled the 2022 allocation of €2 billion for upgrading Ukraine’s armed forces. It now touches around €5.4 billion with further plans to increase to €10.5 billion.

Now, is this all about Russia? Germany cannot be unaware that Ukraine has simply no hope on earth to defeat Russia militarily. Germany is playing the long game. It is creating equity in western Ukraine where it is not Russia but Poland that is its contender. Ever since the Tsarist army advanced into Galicia in 1914, Russia has had a difficult history with Ukrainian nationalists. If the current war in Ukraine spreads to western Ukraine, that cannot be Russia’s choice but out of some necessity forced upon it.

The Soviet victory in Ukraine in October 1944, the Red Army’s occupation of eastern Europe, and Allied diplomacy resulted in a redrawing of Poland’s western frontiers with Germany and Ukraine’s with Poland. Simply put, with compensation of German territories in the west, Poland agreed to the cession of Volhynia and Galicia in western Ukraine; a mutual population exchange created for the first time in centuries a clear ethnic, as well as political, Polish-Ukrainian border.

It is entirely conceivable that the ongoing Ukraine war will radically change the territorial boundaries of Ukraine in the east and south. Possibly, it can re-open the post-World War 2 settlement with regard to western Ukraine as well. Russia has repeatedly warned that Poland aims to reverse the cession of Volhynia and Galicia in western Ukraine. Such a turn of events will most certainly bring to the fore the issue of the German territories that are part of Poland today.

Perhaps, it was in anticipation of turbulence ahead that last October, eight months after the Russian intervention began in in February, Warsaw demanded WWII reparations from Berlin — an issue which Germany says was settled in 1990 — to the tune of €1.3 trillion.

Under the Potsdam Conference (1945), the “former eastern territories of Germany” comprising nearly one quarter (23.8 percent) of the Weimar Republic with the majority ceded to Poland. The remainder, consisting of northern East Prussia including the German city of Königsberg (renamed Kaliningrad), was allocated to the Soviet Union.

Make no mistake about the importance of the Eastern border for German culture and politics. Indeed, there is always something volatile about a “handicapped” Great Power when a whole new intensity appears in political, economic and historical circumstances, which prompts those in power to turn ideas into reality, and revanchist and imperialistic discourses that were quietly but steadily streaming below the surface of the carefully considered diplomatic efforts begin to probe pan-nationalist expansion.

In retrospect, Germany’s — in particular, then foreign minister and current president Steinmeier’s — diabolical role to align Germany with the neo-Nazi elements during the regime change in Kiev in 2014 and the subsequent German perfidy in the implementation of the Minsk Agreement (“Steinmeier formula”), as admitted recently in February by former Chancellor Angela Merkel should not be forgotten.

Suffice to say, even as Russia is winning the Ukraine war, the concern of the German foreign policy makers once again faces the need to redefine what was German. Thus, the war in Ukraine is only the means to an end. Recent reports suggest that Berlin may be moving, finally, toward meeting Ukraine’s pending demand for Taurus cruise missiles with a range exceeding 500 kms and unique “multi-effect war head” that can be a game changer in the the combat dynamics on the battlefield and create the prerequisites for victory.

Equally, German soldiers already comprise about half of the Nato battlegroup already present in Lithuania. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said two weeks ago while on a visit to Vilnius that Germany is preparing the infrastructure to permanently base 4,000 soldiers (“a robust brigade”) to Lithuania so as to have the capability to maintain military flexibility at the Eastern flank. The decision has support from both Germany’s governing coalition and its main opposition.

The CDU foreign policy expert and member of the Bundestag, Kiesewetter called the idea of establishing German base in the Baltics a “decision of reason and reliability.” Indeed, there have been past attempts, historically speaking, to create German rule in the Baltics based on revisionist claims towards the new states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania where German colonists had settled as far back as in the 12th and 13th centuries.

In the four years since she became European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen has mostly been praised by Brussels insiders and top officials around the world. Many say her record—which has put the EU significantly closer to becoming a coherent United States of Europe—already qualifies her as the best Commission president since the celebrated French politician Jacques Delors three decades ago. A 99-year-old Henry Kissinger recently acknowledged that she is Europe’s undisputed leader, and thus provides the EU with the single telephone number that he as U.S. Secretary of State is famously (though perhaps erroneously) quoted as saying that the bloc lacked.

And yet, there’s growing reason to think von der Leyen—or VDL, as she is widely referred to in Brussels—may be unable to secure a second term in the job next year. The problem isn’t any failure of international diplomacy, but rather a matter of domestic politics, or the European equivalent. Detractors within her own conservative European People’s Party (EPP), which would have to nominate her, deeply resent von der Leyen’s leadership.

The 64-year-old, three-time German cabinet minister has admittedly revealed the same political temperament in Brussels that she had displayed as a domestic politician under benefactor Angela Merkel—that of a consistently liberal-minded, if uncharismatic, workhorse who rides roughshod over opponents, whether in rival parties or her own. But the EPP’s bigger problem is the substance of her pragmatic record, which it sees as evidence of betrayal.

As so often in the EU’s history, crises have proven instrumental in defining the Commission president’s tenure. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, VDL corralled the 27-member bloc’s health ministers to procure vaccines together rather than separately. Even though the U.K. beat the bloc to dispersing the vaccine by two weeks, the EU’s solidarity enabled a cost-effective and even-handed rollout. The EU’s vaccination rate is higher than the United States’, and the EU is by far the largest exporter of vaccines in the world. to developing countries. VDL’s Commission then shattered the taboo of joint borrowing—a practice vilified by none more than Germany’s Christian Democrats—by incurring more than 700 billion euros in debt to pay for a pandemic recovery fund. The fund was the largest stimulus package ever financed in Europe, designed to jumpstart the beleaguered economy in ways that would make Europe more digital and greener.

Likewise, the Commission secured 18 billion euros in aid for Ukraine this year, on top of ten rounds of unprecedented sanctions against Russia. VDL has been a vocal, steadfast supporter of Ukraine, marshalling allegiance from the bloc, much to the satisfaction of the Biden administration. Moreover, the EU has opened Europe’s borders to 8 million Ukrainian refugees, bolstered common security, negotiated common energy supplies, and nailed down a Northern Ireland compromise with the U.K.

“This is a moment of enormous acceleration in the shaping of common policies,” the Spanish daily El Pais exclaimed last year. “Rarely have the European institutions been so in tune with national dynamics. … Public opinion approves to a high degree (over 80 percent) with the EU’s current policy towards Ukraine and the development of a self-sufficient energy policy.”

And even though the European Green Deal, the EU’s blueprint to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, bears the imprimatur of Commission vice-president Frans Timmermans, VDL has pushed it energetically—raising the ire, not untypically, of arch conservatives in her own EPP, the umbrella party for the EU’s center right.

But from Social Democrats and Greens she has reaped lofty praise. “The Commission has made the Green Deal its centerpiece,” one center-left member of the European Parliament, who asked to remain anonymous, told Foreign Policy. “We couldn’t have imagined this a few years ago. Given the parliament’s composition, it’s hard to see how anyone else could do it better,” the member said, referring to the parliament’s right-center tilt.

Under VDL’s reign, the EU jacked up its climate target to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030 by building out renewable energies, decreasing energy demand, and phasing out fossil fuels. The EU has exploited the energy crisis to change course and outstrip its 2030 renewable power target of 40 percent. Also, since 2020, the long-ineffective carbon pricing system finally packs more bite than bark: the price per ton for industry, energy generation, and aviation has quintupled, and buildings, shipping, and transportation fuels will join the emissions trading regime in coming years. And the EU agreed last year to phase out new combustion engines for passenger cars from 2035 onward. Next up is a green industrial plan meant to match U.S. President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.

It is this vigor on climate policy, among other things, that has roiled harder-line conservatives in the EPP. Key figures, such as German EPP president Manfred Weber, have fired barbs at VDL and even proposed an alternative candidate for 2024: European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, a Maltese lawyer with culturally conservative credentials, including opposition to abortion. (Weber had been the EPP’s lead candidate in 2019, but was unceremoniously pushed aside after the election in favor of VDL.)

The obvious question posed by uncomprehending outsiders is why this extremely intelligent, highly motivated, politically flexible operator (and mother of seven children) is not beloved and feted in her own ranks? During her career in Germany, her numbers in opinion polls were always rock bottom and no one (except maybe Merkel herself and then only briefly) ever seriously considered her as a candidate for chancellor. Could it really be so petty, as some suggest, that it’s because she’s just “too perfect”: the consummately successful mother and professional, coiffure always just right, well-groomed to a fault?

“To many, she has the annoying demeanor of an uber-nanny,” explained Mariam Lau, a senior editor of the German weekly Die Zeit. Lau considers VDL one of Europe’s most competent and capable center-right politicians, even if many in her own party cannot bring themselves to acknowledge this. But Lau admitted that in VDL’s presence, she checks twice “whether my shoes are properly polished and my fingernails clean and manicured.”

Brussels insiders such as veteran consultant Nicholas Whyte say there’s more to it than that. “She has the reputation of being distant and aloof,” he told Foreign Policy. Born and bred in Belgium, married since 1986 to fellow physician Heiko von der Leyen, the daughter of a well-heeled German political family (her father was postwar Christian Democrat bigwig Ernst Albrecht) lives during the week in a tiny room just above her office on the 13th floor of the Commission’s Berlaymont headquarters. Rarely seen out on the town, unlike her predecessors, her management style is highly centralized with little space to maneuver for those not in her tight inner circle, working on her prize projects.

The bizarre machinations of the EPP aside, VDL faces other hurdles to a second term. Of course, the EPP must emerge the strongest party from the election at a time when center-right conservatives often lose out to populists. Moreover, a newly elected European Parliament may contain fewer conservatives, liberals, and Social Democrats—the three groups that secured her a razor-thin majority in 2019. In this scenario, Green votes on her behalf could be decisive. Also, the left-center government in Germany would have to nominate her, too.

The stars will have to line up perfectly for Europe’s impeccable anchorwoman.

WM2022: Day 21--Pain

Summary: Ingrid gives up, and meets an unlikely ally.

Fili says no. He is the champion of their people, but he fears them. They are as prideful as they are secretive, and their admiration would quickly turn to disgust if he was to pursue her with anything more than acquaintance-like interest. They would never accept the love between a Dwarf and a woman of Men as true.

The looks of pity she receives for the next weeks from he and the Company is unbearable, and the hour the frost breaks and the Misty Mountains are again passable, Ingrid packs her worn shoulder bag and redons her traveling clothes.

And thus the seventh evening of Thorin’s coronation celebration finds Ingrid outside the main gate of Erebor. While the frost broke, the chill lingered, and a violent shiver wracks her frame as she steps out from the warmth of the Mountain and shuts the little guard’s entrance that opens out on the far right of the gate. No one stops her. All are in attendance for the final day of celebration.

“It’s a cold night for a woman of Men,” a voice says, and from the shadows emerges Branna. Ingrid’s jaw tightens, and Branna’s gaze remains stern. She knows what she said, and she knows why she is leaving.

Branna is dressed similarly, and she looks remarkably Dwarvish with her hair tied back in multiple braids and the shadow of the Mountain across her naked jaw.

“You’re also leaving?” Ingrid asks, voice low.

“The contract is void. I’ve nothing to tie me to this place.” Branna’s voice is flat, emotionless.

“But Thorin—”

“Has no idea I’m leaving. None of them do.”

“He doesn’t return your affections?” Surprise colors her words. The quiet friendship between Branna and Thorin has been a constant during the Quest. Ingrid felt it was only some time before their friendship evolved to romance.

“He doesn’t know of them. He wouldn’t…I’m not what he needs.”

Despite hating the pity that came from others when her admission of love went unreciprocated, Ingrid finds herself pitying Branna. Having spent her entire life believing herself to be an unlovable, wretched half-breed, she’s decided it’s better to never know the King’s feelings than risk revealing her love and having her self-hatred confirmed.

“I am truly sorry,” Ingrid says.

“There’s nothing to apologize for. I’ve made my choices.” Branna gestures to Ingrid’s bag with a nod. “As have you.”

“I have. I—I cannot stay here.”

“Where will you go?”

“Home. To Combe.”

“Yes. Your family is waiting.” Branna casts a final look at the Mountain. Her eyes rake up the twin guardian statues that flank the main gate, soaking in her last chance of a proper home.

Ingrid wonders where Branna will settle. She will not want to be in Dale, nor Lake-town. Both are too close. Dain Ironfoot of the Iron Hills is not fond of her, nor is she of him, so there is no option to flee east. The north is uninhabited and the south hosts only those of the race of Men, although Brana could pass for a stocky woman of Men if she shaved what little beard she possesses. To the west there is Rivendell, Bree-land, the Shire, and the Dwarvish settlements in the Blue Mountains. But only the latter is suitable for a Dwarf, even a half of one.

“Where will you go?” Ingrid asks.

“To Rockfells, most likely,” Branna says. “Or anywhere where I can live unbothered by the past.”

Her face suddenly crumples. She lets the pain of 150 years carve itself into her face, and Ingrid can only watch as stoic Branna weeps without pause, sagging against the Mountain she helped reclaim. After the worst has passed, Ingrid offers her handkerchief, and the other woman utters a barely-audible thanks.

“You can come with me, to Combe,” Ingrid suggests. “There’s no space in the farmhouse, but there’s plenty of good trees in the Chetwood and there’s always work to be done.”

“You would invite a half-Dwarf into your home?”

“I would invite a friend into my home.” Ingrid extends her hand into the open space between them. “Let’s go on another adventure.”

Branna nods and accepts her hand.

And together, they begin their journey westward.

Growing up within the Marvel Cinematic Universe was probably one of things you were most grateful for. When you first started out you weren’t that social. You were new to the business, you didn’t know anybody and you were intimidated by every single actor you crossed paths with.

At first you didn’t feel like you fit in. You felt as if you were a burden to everyone else. You barely talked to anyone which made the others approach you out of force by the Russos. Everyone around you was talented while you were just some newcomer who had jack shit as experience. The first few years you were insecure of yourself mentally and physically. You weren’t as pretty or fit as the other women in the MCU nor did your skills live up to theirs. Which led to some unhealthy habits. Plus there were haters and movie critics who would say horrible things about you and your acting.

You had a rocky start unlike Tom Holland and even Lexi Rabe. Until one day when you realized that you had to change how you were thinking. It took you a while but all that negative thinking you were doing was only bringing you negative energy. So when you had a break from filming movies, your number one goal was to improve yourself.

You woke up with smile on your face in a sense of calmness. The sun shined bright hues into your room as you got up from your bed. Today was the first day back on set. You guys were finally filming Civil War and you were honestly so excited. As you did your morning routine, you went over how the day would go in your head. You’re genuinely excited to see the entire cast. It has been almost half a year since you’ve seen everyone and you couldn’t wait to be back.

You took one last look at yourself in the mirror. Compared to the previous year, you looked and felt healthy. Your eyes shined and you looked well relaxed. You know like one of those face cleanser commercials? That’s how you felt. You felt like a breath of fresh air.

The ride to the studio took a good 30 minutes but it felt like seconds. You entered the set with a new sense of confidence and pride. The energy was practically radiating off you.

“(Y/n)?” You hear someone call from behind you. You turn around and see Scarlett looking at you.

“Hey!” You greet her as you approach her. You pulled her into a hug, startling her.

“Oh! Hello to you too, honey.” She laughed as she wrapped her arms around you. “How are you?”

“I’m doing great! Life’s been good.” You answer as a toothy grin graces itself on your face. Scarlett’s eyes are filled with shocked. From the previous times she’s talked to you she’s never seen you so loud or open. You were always shy and closed off from everyone on set.

Eventually everyone on set caught on to your new attitude. Though they tried to be discreet about their reactions and shocked expressions, you could still see how they were caught off guard by your sudden change of nature.

Anthony watched as you conversed with Elizabeth and Scarlett on the couch in Robert’s “village” . You were probably the most smiliest person in the room beating Evans, who was eating his lunch.

“She’s like different. But in a good way. It’s like she’s bloomed.” Anthony thought out loud to the men beside him. Chris (E) and Sebastian look in your direction.

“Bloomed?” Chris snorted as he swallowed his food.

“Yeah, like she’s growing into a woman.” Anthony hummed proudly as he went back to his own lunch. Sebastian smiled at you, “I think she’s gained some confidence in herself and finally realized how good of a person she is.”

“If she’s finally realized that, I’m glad she did. She’s like a ball of sunshine, it’s adorable.” Chris smiled proudly at you as your hands move around animatedly while explaining some story to the two women in front of you.

“Y’all think it’s a boy?” Anthony wondered. Sebastian rolled his eyes at his friend. Before he can even respond Anthony is calling you over. You approach the men with a smile and take a seat beside Sebastian.

“What’s up?” You greet them. Chris nods at you as he chews on his sandwich. Sebastian greeting you with a quiet “hey”.

“So who’s the lucky man?” Anthony asks teasingly. Your brows knit together head tilting to the side.

“Man?”

“Yes man, or boy, whatever. Who’s got you feelin’ yourself, (y/n).” Anthony wiggles his brows as he shimmies closer to you. Sebastian, who’s in between you two, cringes at the man to his left.

You didn’t take any offense to the question, knowing that everyone was curious as to why you were so unlike yourself.

You chuckled before smirking at the older man, “Anthony, honey. I don’t need a man to be feelin’ myself. I did this on my own.”

Chris and Sebastian’s mouth drop at your answer. Chris laughed as he pointed out Anthony’s face. Sebastian slung an arm around your shoulder bringing you into a side hug as he laughed with Chris.

“To be fair” Chris began to say but started to laugh, “To be fair, you deserved that.” Anthony’s face went flushed as he nodded to himself. You suddenly felt bad that you put him on the spot.

“Alright, stop laughing at him.” You playfully glare at Chris and Seb. You poke Anthony’s arm, “To answer your question, I’ve just been working on myself. Thinking more positively, I even tried manifestation.”

“You know what, that’s good. You’re taking care of yourself mentally and physically. I’m proud of you for doing this for yourself, we all are.” Anthony tells you as he motions to the two other men.

You look at all three of them, all of them looking at you with pride, “Thanks guys.”

As the months passed, the more you evolved into another version of you. You walked with determination, carried yourself with such grace and you’ve gained confidence in your career. You didn’t let your insecurities get to you, instead you faced them and overcame them. You were tired of letting them control you.

Your change in attitude and perspective on life has definitely affected your life in many ways. Manifestation was one of the things that have helped you the most. Writing about your goals and putting that energy out to the world has helped you persevere in your job. You’ve only faced good karma; sending out positive energy and receiving it back from the universe.

So far you’ve been casted in two new projects and have a campaign lined up with Gucci. If you were told a year ago that you’d be working with big time directors and freakin’ Gucci, you wouldn’t have believe them. Life has been unreal ever since you decided to change your life around. But of course you had to thank your Marvel family, without them and their support you probably wouldn’t haven gotten to where you were today.

As many people recognized your success many people still tried to pull you down. Some fans on social media have noticed your change in behavior and have even praised you for practicing self care. While others still tried to push you off the mountain of success you were currently on and drag you across the ground.

These were the reasons as to why you were barely on your phone anymore. You used to be invested in your phone but after realizing how much negativity it brought you, you’ve decided to slowly disconnect from it. Which led you to becoming more interested into books.

Chris (E) had even brought some of his favorite arts of literature for you to borrow. You were currently on your third book of his, Sapiens A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. You were sitting outside your trailer in a fold up chair under the shade. Your peacefulness was interrupted by Tom (Holland) who had a worried expression on his face.

“Have you not seen it yet?” He asked you as soon as he was in front of you. Being the two most youngest actors on the current set, you guys were closer to each other than with the adults.

“Seen what, Tommy?” You put a finger in between the pages you were reading to save your spot. Tom pulls his phone out and began to type. He tapped on his screen and turned the screen to you.

“She’s been talking crap about you for days.” You read the article and saw that one of your “friends”, Sabrina has been speaking out about your success and how it’s changed you as a person.

“She’s going off about how the more money you get in your wallet, the more bratty and arrogant you become.” He grumbled as he turned his phone off.

“I could care less, honestly. I know I haven’t done anything to her and if I did I was unaware of it. Plus, she stopped talking to me after I said I couldn’t get her a part in a movie.” You shrugged as you placed a proper bookmark in the book.

“You’re not upset?”

“I mean it’s sad that she’s acting so two faced. But if that’s how she wants to roll, then be my guest. It’s her loss, not everyone has great taste.” You flicked a piece of hair away from your face with your hand.

“You’re not gonna release a statement against her?”

“No, probably just wish her well with her life and move on with my own.” You answered much to Tom’s dismay.

Filming has officially ended a few months ago and now you guys were doing press tour for Civil War. Before you were the new and improved version of yourself, you dreaded press tours. Some interviewers were nice and respectful, but there were those who would ask inappropriate questions and were just rude in general. All you could remember during those past tours was wanting to leave those rooms as soon as possible.

The q&a panel at New York had a packed room. There were many journalist crowded in the room shoulder to shoulder. You were sat in between Elizabeth and Scarlett, two of the women who have been guiding you and teaching you about life as a woman in the business. They were also like your older sisters.

The panel had been going smoothly for the first half hour until a man with a snobby face and cocky demeanor approached the mic.

“Hello, I’m Keith and my question’s for (y/n).” He began. You nodded in his direction, motioning for him to continue.

“I think everyone’s noticed how you’ve changed and developed as a person. Obviously something’s changed in your life. So I want to know if you’ve had any intimate relationships with any of the men in the cast?” You were surprised at the man’s question. First it was bold of him to ask such a question and second it was just disrespectful to you and the others on the cast.

“I mean someone’s gotta be fucking you good to make you crawl out your shell.” The man finished shrugging nonchalantly. Robert was about to interject but your mouth was quicker than his. The men of the cast were disgusted at the man while they sat at the edge of their seats.

“Well last time I checked my contract, my job was to act, not sleep around with the men who are part of these movies.” You spoke into the mic. All the attention was on you while the room was at a standstill.

“It’s also very upsetting that you think a girl needs to be fucked in order to be confident in herself. I hate to break it to you but women are completely capable of turning their lives around without the help of men and that says a lot about you, sir. So if I were you, I’d take myself back to my seat and rethink my life because if one of us has to redesign our brains it’s you.” You finished as you placed your mic on your lap. The room was silent until the cast began to clap. This was your first time standing up for yourself, usually Robert or Scarlett would swoop in and save you but this time, you were saving yourself.

You shook your head as you blushed, shoving your head in your hands. You felt some pats on the backs and cheers from your dysfunctional family. You look up and see Scarlett and Elizabeth smiling at you proudly.

“Isn’t she amazing?” Robert asked the crowd as he hugged you. The crowd cheering you on.

Just like magic, your life felt like a dream come true, knowing that you were worth it and enough for the people around you and for yourself.

1. Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival – June 1-21

Established in Ottawa in 1996, the Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival (SSIF) is a multi-disciplinary arts festival that brings together Indigenous artists, performers, educators, students, and community members to share knowledge and celebrate Canada’s diverse Indigenous cultures. The former 4-day live event takes place in June: coinciding with National Indigenous History Month and closing on National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21). This year’s virtual programming includes The SSIMAs a new national Indigenous music awards program as well as Education Days, streamed performances, interactive family activities, arts and crafts, culinary and cultural workshops including the popular Pow Wow now socially distanced.

2. Stop Insuring Trans Mountain: Week of Action – June 14 – 21

Join us for a week of action from June 14 – 21 targeting the insurance companies enabling the continued operation and expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻? The Trans Mountain expansion project would transport an additional 590,000 barrels of tar sands oil per day from Alberta to British Columbia, and lead to a 700% increase in oil tankers in the Salish Sea. Many Indigenous communities have consistently and repeatedly rejected the Trans Mountain pipeline and tanker project – but the Canadian government continues to plough ahead with construction.𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲? Current insurers of the pipeline are complicit in violating Indigenous rights and driving climate change through providing $500 million USD in coverage. Without insurance, the pipeline cannot keep operating, and its expansion can’t be constructed. That makes un-insuring Trans Mountain a critical way to stop the pipeline once and for all.Last year, Indigenous communities and activists pushed three insurance companies to cut ties with the pipeline: Zurich, Munich Re, and Talanx. We are not letting up the pressure.Trans Mountain is currently seeking insurers to back the project in the year to come, with a deadline of August 31. Right now we have a critical window in which to pressure insurers to rule out coverage for the pipeline and make Trans Mountain uninsurable.𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻:

3. COVID-19, Social Safety Nets, and Sex Work in the Capital Survey – June 5 – June 30

The “COVID-19, Social Safety Nets, and Sex Work in the Capital” survey is a joint research project between University of Ottawa researchers and Prostitutes of Ottawa-Gatineau Work Educate Resist (POWER). This survey of sex workers in the capital region seeks to better understand the economic impact of COVID-19 on sex workers and how they navigated social benefit programs created in its wake. The confidential and remunerated 10-12 minute online survey will remain open thru to June 30, 2021.

They have reprimanded their journalists for signing an open letter to newsrooms asking for fairer coverage of Palestine.
