So since I’ve been thinking non-stop about royalty and stuff (in case you didn’t know) I ended up going back to my old ocs and pulling some out of the freezer and putting crowns on them lol. I don’t have a ton down for a story yet but SO FAR. It is Quinton Bell, prince/highness of a powerful kingdom looking to annex another kingdom that had gotten sovereignty however many (many many) years back; and Bo Church, a prince from said almost-annexed kingdom.

Basically at the moment its a weird kind of “arranged marriage to avoid war” where Bo’s family basically gives him to Quinton’s family as a sort of peace offering, and it’s not specifically to marry him off but there’s a reason he was the one they handed off as the loudest and angriest black sheep of the children. He’ll be whatever the opposing royal family decides him to be. Meanwhile Quinton’s father has some plans or something about adding exactly such a foreign prince to his family line, and Quinton should get married soon anyway. So the peace offering works, technically, and the threat of invasion goes dormant for at least a little while.

Neither Q nor Bo are totally thrilled with this whole marriage thing.

#raven beak #chozo #a lot of effort for a bit #i thought back to that one piece i did a few years ago where i put raven beak in bikini armor and i said #'wouldn't it be funny to see him actually fight in something like that?' #because as we all know exposed flesh in combat is very humorous when large guns that shoot beams are involved #and then my train of thought fell to 'wouldn't it be funny if Samus was covered more than Raven Beak is' #'to subvert the sexy outfits thing a little bit but also drive home the 'god-emperor of Chozo Victoria's Secret' look he has going for him' #So the original sketch was created July 21 2023. And I redid it on April 10 2024. #and built Raven Beak bulky like a pro wrestler to really drive home the drama/hamminess of the situation but also to make him look stronger #my outfit design continues to be lacking but my commitment to the bit remains unmatched #... it's also so much easier to draw silly bikini armor that makes no sense than it is to put characters in regular clothes. or armor. #if you want a 'lore justification' for the lack of armor let's just say Raven Beak doesn't need the suit to be powerful. #and Samus is about to demonstrate that he has sorely underestimated her. by a mile. or a kilometer. #anyways the differences in their outfits match their upbringing and general philosophy #Samus opts for the more practical leotard offering her mobility and lightweight motion #Raven Beak guns for the full regalia that shows off as much muscle as possible while not skipping out on symbols of rank #and he NEVER leaves home without a cape #the cape is a must if shoulder-mounted black hole generators aren't available.

i understand that scraping all of barry's social media is probably the most parasocial & insane thing that i've ever done but also all of the hurdles that i've run into in this project where i've hit a dead-ended reddit thread telling me that something isn't possible and no one's ever found a workaround just make me feel so hopeless. i know that not everybody is a data hoarder but i feel like. as a... community of people sharing the web. as a fandom. as a society. preserving media (even and especially digital stuff) should be easy and accessible and the fact that it's not is devastating, sure, but also terrifying. are you not all terrified of the impermanence of this place. does it not keep you up at night. it could all be gone tomorrow. how do we live with that.

#anyway. #all of this to say that i'm being the change i want to see in the world and am painstakingly creating a complete(ish) archive #of remaining social media #when i started this i was told that scraping twitter for media was easy (which it was) #but that scraping it for text tweets was impossible #and now i have a giant folder full of json files of every individual tweet that barry has ever made #and now im hitting a wall with facebook which is. apparently impenetrable. #but i'm following the rambling thirty step process that an insane person posted on their blog #so like. it IS possible. u just need to put in the effort. which in and of itself is a problem. #like it should not take this much effort and it sucks so bad that it does #but also somebody HAS to do it #so i guess its me. and my shitty laptop. which is becoming a barry archive machine.

#Ok in an effort to remain Semi Positive. It could be much worse #My voice isn’t excessively soft or feminine unless I’m really Putting It On (it can DEFINITELY be those things) and it leans a little more #mid range. I also have severe vocal fry which is Fantastic. I am also not squeaky. Which is great #But all I can think of it as is just potential for what my voice COULD sound like on testosterone #Which makes me semi euphoric which then makes me impatient and then I Mourn. And sometimes I become Too Aware of my speaking voice and I #feel like chewing glass

#random personal stuff #back on my soapbox feel free to ignore #the phrase 'good baby' has come up lately #and I find it odd because #well of course they're a good baby! all babies are good why would you say otherwise #but it really means that they're easy and convenient and don't cry (much) or have sleeping problems #which is further odd because why are we placing moral value on how easy the child is #because the use of 'good baby' implies that some babies aren't 'good' #that they're 'bad' #that if they're fussy or struggling with something they're not good #and if they're not good are they to be seen as less valuable? less lovable? #heaven forbid a tiny human have big inconvenient emotions! no one wants to deal with that! #and that attitude toward them can bleed over into how we continue to see the child as they grow #(speaking from experience here: I was a 'bad baby' who cried too much and kept my mom up too late #and then a Crying Child and a Crying Teenager who was Too Much and had something wrong with me #and I've been trying to atone for it ever since) #(I know I wasn't really bad but the Perception remains) #anyway if we mean that a child is easy/easygoing let's just say so #without a moral label #the more difficult babies may be more effort #but they're still good #because they're (or SHOULD BE) loved #and when you love someone they're worth the difficulty
