fleein the south part II

hi, i'm ri & i'm an autistic nonbinary trans guy-lite-ish person. 4 years ago i moved out to denver from mississippi (where i was born & raised) & immediately had a massive improvement in my quality of life. i was able to access medical & psychiatric care, my career stabilized, people were addressin me with correct terms for the most part, & i was startin to feel like life had finally begun

unfortunately when the lease ran out on our house end of summer last year my roommates decided not to renew, & then the people who were gonna be my new roommates backed out last minute. in a panic i looked for other options but with time runnin short & top surgery approachin i decided to recover at a friend's house & move back to mississippi once my surgeon cleared me to travel cross country so i could regroup somewhere i figured would be less expensive & at least somewhat familiar

that, friends, was a very costly & painful mistake! every single problem that made me wanna move away in the first place has only exacerbated!

i'm comin up on 8 months post top surgery, i have a beard, & i'm still gettin called ma'am/she/her. trump flags & signs still adorn many yards/porches here. hatred & bigotry run rampant in local politics. the other day i didn't even enter one of the convenience stores in the town where i live when i stopped by because they had posted a very thinly veiled racist sign on the door

when i arrived back here i was not even a full month outta surgery & i had a minor complication, so i went to the emergency room cause what else was i sposed to do? applied for charity as i had around $100 to my name at that point, which i THINK? got approved? also applied for mississippi medicaid the same day, which got denied almost outright as i have no children. so i've been uninsured since november & rationin the 3 month supply of my psych/migraine meds i received before leavin colorado for goin on 7 months. never mind bein able to access hrt!

job prospects here are Not Great! i've had to collect unemployment for a while as i cannot for the life of me find a full time job with a livin wage. otherwise i literally cannot make ends meet as the jobs i've held so far down here are payin average 50% or less of what i was makin in denver. even with the part time gigs i've had i have yet to crack 30hr/wk on any kind of regular basis

housin is an absolute shitshow. my lease is up 1 july (got a month extension) & i've been searchin everywhere for an affordable place of my own or at least a good roommate. the more affordable studio/1bd apartments go for around $700 & up, but most have income requirements of 2.5-3x the monthly rent which, considerin previous point abt wages, is near impossible. roommate listins are available but the majority are questionable at best & seekin a live-in bangmaid at worst

with all these considerations i spent the past few weeks feelin worse & worse lookin for somewhere close to the job i currently have. the leases are like 6mo-1y so i was picturin another year down here & how i was gonna survive, let alone thrive. my thoughts got darker & darker. i'd wake up in the mornin & be sad/disappointed i'd survived the night

this is no way to live

i snapped a few days ago. said to myself "if i'm destined to struggle wherever i go, i'd rather do it somewhere i actually Wanted to be in the first place" & started applyin for housin in denver. waitin to hear back from my first option & have secured a backup with a friend with a spare room for 6mo in case that falls through

right now i need help gettin the hell out! i've got first month's rent already put back, i can continue to collect unemployment until i land a good job in denver, & i'm already reachin out to find somewhere to work. i just don't have anywhere to go for another month or two to save the money i'll need to travel almost 1200mi (~1900km) back to colorado. i'll need at least $500 to make gas/food happen durin the time it will take me to get there, & i need it by the first of july (38 days from day of postin)

please help me escape!!!

Slasher U Update Roadmap: End of 2023!

Holy crap, it's been a hell of year, hasn't it?! Slasher U Act 1 came out at the end of April 2023 and there's been SO MUCH that's changed!

Things that were added in post-launch Slasher U Act 1 updates:

Sawyer's entire romance arc, storyline, and hookup/makeout games

Outfits

Bartending

The ability to talk to Dark Tate post-coitally

Butterflies and crows (fighting crows used to crash your game)

The entire good UI

Characters including Cliff, Stitcherella, Jennykind, Paisleigh, Tanya, and I'm pretty sure Kennedy was a very early addition, too

And that's not counting the tweaks, fixes, and content! In the interest of continuing to Ship of Theseus this game into the best dating sim ever (no biggie, right?), I have the following updates planned before the end of 2023 for Act 1!

Accessibility settings: A way to opt out of minigames with a random roll based on your personality stats (different stat per minigame as appropriate!)

Refining the places you can get personality points in Act 1

Customization: Cane accessories! These will run on a different band than outfits so you can mix and match them/equip them alongside outfits!

Finance: I made everything in the game on the pricey/"realistic" side and the money you get from gigs relatively low because A) college and B) i kind of thought it would both be funny/reflective of shitty college jobs AND a nice incentive to grind some minigames but. I think the economy needs a bit of a fix, right? ;) (in the meantime, try typing InfiniteMoneyVent with the caps correct in the Cheat Codes menu when you're in-game! Your wallet will be a little fuller!)

There are 27 major bugs left in the list for me to tackle as of now, most of them are routine but there are 3 or 4 harder ones to tackle (naming save files is being a beeeetch specifically because afaik Wolf wipes any additional system string variables even if you specify a larger variable count list? My engine just is like "naw actually I'm not saving that"?)

Prior Planned Quality of Life Stuff: Either a way to name your save files OR a way to make your character name appear under your save file (this used to happen but there was a bug where all names would default to your last used character name)

WHITE WHALE HOLY GRAIL I'm still trying to fix the text box bug! This actually isn't borked in the vanilla version of the WRPG engine but I can't fucking figure out how to fix it with the way I've set up the UI (I think? I THINK?!). This is realistically the last bug to get fixed due to my own ineptitude, so I'm hoping to A) make autosaves automatically turned on and B) making Data 1's save slot unusable so it's reserved for autosaves!

There's ALSO a couple content updates for Act 1 still (nothing major, except for, uh, ONE MAJOR THING, haha):

The Truth or Dare minigame/scenario is now going to be included in the Act 1 game, but take place after the Act 2 bumper (post-murder-attempt)

This is already in there but the preamble for Dark Tate's continuing storyline, and Laila's Act 2, activates after the murder attempt

I'll be adding Hex, Juno, and Sawyer's Act 2 lead-ins, plus regular Tate's lead-in, as I work on Act 2

Resolving the storylines (or, if you're being a Chaotic Evil type of player, ruining everyone's life) with story choices/quests for non-dateables: Act 2 will include more Sawyer/Horsemike story, and personal quests for Melyssa, Professor Plutonium, and partially Veronika/Archibald (theirs will continue into Act 3)

Maybe I'll let you fight crows again. MAYBE.

I'm ALSO working on Act 2, which has a lot of new features (notably permanent cosmetic upgrades like a piercing system and tattoos) as well as new content (obvi lmao), but I really want to find a way to offer early access passes to folks who didn't make it to the Crowdfundr (maybe via Patreon)?

Here are some Act 2 features that I'm excited to include/are already being worked on (you'll recognize a lot of these from fanvotes!)

Piercing/Tattoo Parlor

Headless Horsemike one-off hookup minigame

Tate's movie date (yes it's scripted and implemented, it'll be in the next Act 2 update lol. I KNOW I KNOW :D )

Being able to run the speakeasy/sex dungeon as a little moneymaking game in and of itself (well. More for the speakeasy. The sex dungeon is mostly for sex. You're welcome, Sawyer Enjoyers)

Being able to gift outfits to dateables

I'm personally super hype for Tate's storyline (which also involves some other students?? ooo????) and how that's going to mechanically shake out, PLUS, tattoos. Oh my god. TATTOOS GUYS. Plus, the piercing system works like IRL-style - you have to get pierced, then buy jewelry for your piercing if you want to replace your starter/healer gear! I'm a big fan of body mods IRL and having a more realistic piercing/tattoo system was important to me!

Can't wait for next year AND to bring y'all more Slasher U!!!!!!!!! Making video games is literally my favorite thing to do in the whole wide world and I can't imagine doing anything else with my life :')))) (one day I'll be able to do this FULL-full time instead of on top of reviewing medical documents and drawing IP comics for Big Corpo)

Part 4

So a reminder, I made a post in the past about how i wanna do this story justice and make it a full fledged fic and not just the stream of consciousness it's been. So I think I'll be doing 2 more parts that hit major beats and after that I'll be outlining and eventually posting the actual full bodied fic. Anyways enjoy!

It was chaos, right up until the end. While Vecna had been on his last legs, cornered animals were always at their most dangerous. Rather than using his mind, which was being attacked by El, he used his actual hand to sink his claws into Steve and pull them over the cliff together. Every hit along the way hurt but Steve wasted no time, making sure his axe was swinging with every breath he was still taking.

When they landed on the ground below, Steve needed a moment to catch his breath. While Vecna broke his fall, it was still quite the descent. He heard two voices calling out his name when the claws that had released him during the plummet pierced him again. Steve let out a cry and plunged his axe into Vecna's chest furiously.

He heard El and Will calling out to him again and even felt the pull of trying to lift him up. But Vecna was still attached, and in his desperation trying to get into Steve's mind and break him.

"Get! Outta! My! Head!" Each word was a stab in the chest yet he didn't let go. El was tired. Will was tired. But they still needed to close the gate.

And for a shred of a moment, both Steve and Vecna's intentions combined.

"Go!", they both shouted together, the intensity of it propelling the two others back through the portal. Steve wanted to save them. Vecna wanted to get as far away as possible.

El barely had a moment to catch her breath on the other side before Eddie was on her.

"Where is he?! Where's Steve?!"

She felt as small as she had ever been and it took Nancy shaking Eddie to get him to back off. He looked so stricken El was sure she'd never forget it.

"Close it", he said through a sob.

"But Ste-", Dustin started.

"I said FUCKING CLOSE IT!"

El wasted no time then, sealing it all, hopefully for good this time.

Eddie remembered Steve's words, as everyone else collapsed around him as the gravity fell upon their shoulders.

"Don’t keep the gate open. Don’t open it again. Don’t come looking for me.”

Don't come looking for him. Well why would he need to look when he knew exactly where his husband was? In a hell world where everything was trying to kill you. So he's either lost an already dead husband or condemned him to a fate worse than death.

"I gotta get home", he said in the silence. Or maybe it wasn't silence. Someone was crying. Maybe two someones.

But he had a daughter to get home to. Lucy, who thought she'd be waking up in a world with two dads.

Eddie rubbed his face. "I gotta-", he cut himself off with a choked sound. "I gotta figure out how to tell Lucy."

"Eddie, you shouldn't be alone", Robin said, trying to put a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Eddie shrugged it off. "I can't be around anyone right now. Just-just give me until tomorrow? Alright?"

He would have to tell Lucy then because he could never lie to her. And this was just too big to keep from her.

About three years later and he still finds himself struggling to tell the story. Because now it's not 'Your dad died as a noble hero' but 'One dad sacrificed the other dad'.

"So, you guys have been doing this since high school?", she asked once they were settling in the guest bed at the Byers-Hopper residence. Lucy definitely felt like she'd outgrown sleepovers with her dads, but Eddie wasn't letting her out of his sight tonight.

"Technically that was only my second time dealing with it. Your pops though, he was a regular veteran. We should've been getting discounts at the grocery store."

Despite the sad story, Lucy found herself smiling. "So, what now?"

"Now..." Eddie sighed. "Now we get him back. And we make that bastard pay."

when I started shipping it if I did:

there's actually a funny story to this one. > be me. > guilelessly playing kingdom hearts 2 in 2019. > "what the hell is these dudes' deal. i wonder if people ship them at all" > open ao3 thinking there might be a handful of fics > "oh there's a couple more than a few, huh" > life ruined.

my thoughts:

my favorite little guys in anything ever. they surgically removed my personality to make room for more sefikura. truly i have never loved a ship as much as this one. literal otp of all time.

What makes me happy about them:

everything? they're so funny and silly to me. extremely pathetic creatures. two absolute losers. i think of them and i always smile. i love the fact that each of them have independently made their personality revolve around each other at different points in time, it's so funny.

What makes me sad about them:

EVERYTHING. the fact they will never have a happy ending. the fact they will be enemies in every (canon) universe. the fact they are two extremely broken people who are uniquely equipped to understand each other and that won't be enough to save them.

things done in fanfic that annoys me:

tbh i'm so picky with what i like and don't like about how both these guys often end up characterized, but i also think all interpretations are valuable in their own way. i can't think of any huge annoyances, except that i have very Specific feelings/headcanons about sephiroth in crisis core era, and usually won't read things that veer too far away from that.

things I look for in fanfic:

i love any and all fics where the author makes it obvious that sephiroth is just. completely besotted. and i think cloud feeds off of that, even if he won't admit it. i'll read just about anything with these two, but i especially love stories where authors can articulate the crux of their dysfunction really well. yes, these two have have immense amounts of hate, and blood, and pain between them, but (especially on sephiroth's end) there is also an Intense desire for intimacy, of any kind. these two things juxtaposed well is just magical to me.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

no one. i say that as a joke but it's pretty much true. for cloud i do also ship him hardcore with aerith (somewhat against my own will XD), but outside of that i don't really multiship these two anymore. i used to be a Hardcore multishipper, and while i still appreciate things like some polyshipping (other cleriseph enjoyers where are you, i need food of that ot3 so bad), i honestly can't enjoy the thought of them being with anyone else. i miss being a multishipper, because these days pretty much every single other ship with them (outside of clerith) has become a notp for me. ;w;

My happily ever after for them:

in canon? haha. the closest i could see them in canon ffvii (and the closest i think part 3 of remake would get to giving them a 'happy' ending) is having a moment of resolution similar to what kuja and zidane get in ffix. i would be satisfied with that for canon. BUT if we're taking all the stops off, i want to see the dramatic epic pining slowburn post-AC where they eventually figure out how to lead semi-normal lives alongside each other. this is making me want to write that now....maybe that will be my next fic project.

who is the big spoon/little spoon:

there's an obvious answer here with consideration to builds and hair lengths, i think. i like to think cloud has accepted his fate to have this 7 foot tall piece of brick clinging to him like an octopus.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity:

this is another obvious one, and i'm tempted to say 'fighting', but i'm not sure that clears the bar of non-sexual for them. my second choice is that i think they would just genuinely enjoy being around each other in silence. they're both such introverts, and i like to think of them just recharging quietly with each other.

clerith ☁️♡🌎

when I started shipping it if I did:

let me preface this by saying that when remake came out in 2020, i had less than zero interest in vii's infamous love triangle. i wanted no piece of it in my heart or my home. then the game came out and cloud and aerith gripped me by the throat and violently dragged me into falling in love with them by being so damn charming and heartfelt and perfect for each other.

my thoughts:

i love these two so damn much. i really Really loved them in remake, and rebirth intensified this to a level i could Not have anticipated and is currently ruining my life. i love them. i love that they are soulmates, romantic, platonic, or something in-between. i love that their bond and chemistry is near-instantaneous, i love that cloud blooms into letting himself experience softness around her, i love that aerith finally has someone who cares about making her happy and standing by her so damn much.

What makes me happy about them:

so much. their love is so pure and tentative. their vibes to me run parallel to how i see and experience the early 20s as a queer person, essentially the second teenage-hood where you're still feeling yourself out as a person, and you have no idea what you're doing. you feel like you're missing out on a lot of the fundamental experiences that 'normal' people have already had, and i feel like both cloud and aerith mirror that emotion, thanks to the fucked up circumstances of both their lives. aerith is cloud's first real friend after nibelheim (and potentially ever, depending on how close you think he was with zack. to me, i hc cloud and zack were pretty friendly, but not especially close prior to the nibelheim incident.) and cloud is also one of aerith's first friends. they've both suffered such acute loneliness and isolation in their lives, and the fact they find healing for that in each other is so so special to me. the fact that aerith is the person most able to reach through to the person cloud Really is, even under everything he's got going on, makes me so deranged.

What makes me sad about them:

well. there is a very obvious answer. so there is definitely That. that's kind of a big deal.

things done in fanfic that annoys me:

honestly i feel like i don't have many specific fanfic annoyances in general, because if a fic annoys me i just stop reading it, and then my adhd makes me forget i read it to begin with.

things I look for in fanfic:

i really love everything with these two, i love all the cute fluff happy ever afters they don't get to have in canon, but i also love the angst and the drama and the trauma. usually i just gravitate towards any fics that i feel understands the characters well or has interesting ideas, the exact plot or type of scenario is less important to me.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

in my heart, cloud's endgame ship is always sephiroth. as for aerith, i'm also a Huge zerith shipper (yes i am in constant emotional pain, how did you know), but aeriseph also firmly has a place in my heart.

My happily ever after for them:

any. any of them. i want the most tooth-rotting fluffy ending for these two. (admittedly, their iconic tragedy is a part of why i love them so bad. without it, my emotional investment would be Nowhere near as high.) i've been reading a lot of wedding/alternate future fics with these two lately and they all make me ;w;

who is the big spoon/little spoon:

i genuinely think it goes both ways, but if i had to say i think cloud is doomed to be a little spoon in any lifetime.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity:

oooh tough one!! i think aerith would love teaching cloud to garden....though i'm not sure he would be any good at it. but i have faith in him to learn.

“36 questions that lead to love,” Mark mumbled to himself. Mark had been casually scrolling through the world wide web, ( totally not looking up advice on how to ask someone out) and saw the title of this article. Mark knew it was probably all bullshit, but it still caught his interest.

Mark has been infatuated with you since you first stepped onto his ship. This only grew as he got to know you. You were the strong, kind, intelligent, and fantastic captain, you were also his best friend. You learned how to make his coffee perfectly and would stay up late helping him review things when you didn’t have to. You spent so many lifetimes and went through so much hell to not only save the ship and crew but to save him. You held onto him when he needed it most and never blamed him for all the pain he had caused. You held onto hope when he didn’t and you never gave up on him.

He let out a sigh, he has fallen bad for you. At first, he had tried to deny it, but he couldn't any longer. Not when his heart felt like it would beat out of his chest every time you smiled at him. Not when you work late at night, and all he can think about is how he wants to cuddle you and sleep. He can’t ignore it any longer, and he doesn’t want to.

So he decided he was going to confess his feelings to you. He was very fucking nervous, hence the looking-up advice. As he scrolled through the list of questions his hope grew, maybe, just maybe, this could work. He had no clue if you liked him back and maybe this would help him figure it out. He smiled and grabbed his tablet writing down some of the questions to ask you tomorrow, all he had to do was be subtle about it. He could totally do that though. He built a whole fucking spaceship, he can be subtle.

~ next day~

“ So, uh Captain, if you were given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?” Mark asked as he fixed the control panel. You looked down over at him somewhat surprised. You had been standing next to him, sending a few emails from your tablet until he asked you that question. You let out a quick hum as you thought, you don't know where this came from, but a good question. He looked up at you ready to hear your answer.

“ Well it depends, can I choose where or what we eat?” you asked him. Mark bit his bottom lip thinking before answering, “Yeah, I guess.” you nodded and smiled. He leaned underneath the control panel attempting to grab something. “Well, then I would want the head engineer of the Invincible 2 as my dinner guest.”

Mark swung his head up to look at you and yelped when he hit his head instead. “Holy shit, You okay Mark?” you asked, kneeling next to him. He leaned up and rubbed his head, “Yeah, I'm fine Captain.” He moved from under the control panel, “ Why me though.” His wide curious brown eyes bore into you awaiting an answer. Your face heated up slightly before answering, “Well, I could finally take you to that one restaurant I was telling you about, the one I used to go to all the time.” You paused, helping him to his feet, “Plus it’d be nice for us to be able to hang out and relax without worrying about someone busting in needing something fixed.”

Mark smiled and felt his heartbeat quicken. You were so fucking cute, “I’m surprised, I thought you would've said someone like Neil Armstrong or Ryan Reynolds. “ You both chuckled, “If I was ever going to have dinner with Ryan Reynolds I would bring you along. It’d be a crime for only me to have that experience.” Once again you both laughed and quickly moved on to the next task.

You had simply brushed off the question, but Mark hadn't. Throughout the day he asked you a few more random questions, which you answered honestly. You had no idea why Mark was asking you such specific questions, but you didn't mind. Not when it meant you had more of his attention than normal.

As you both sat down in your office, making coffee, Mark looked down at his arm tablet for the 20th time that day before asking, “ What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?” You looked over at him with raised eyebrows as you took a sip from your cup. Did he have a list of questions? Was he doing one of those personality quizzes?. You sighed, it didn't matter much. “Relaxing at home watching some great movies, with great food and maybe.” You looked at him from the brim of your cup, “ With someone great.”

You smiled as you watched Mark try to sneakily type your answer into his tablet. You held back a laugh as you watched him notice you looking at him, and then him attempting to make an excuse. “What would be the perfect day for you Mark?” He looked surprised and set his cup down and bit his lip thinking. A habit he had, which you find very cute.

“Well, maybe staying in a nice remote cabin celebrating the creation of an amazing tool that's gonna help humanity. “ He smiled, “ It’d be fall time and I’d bring Chica with me. “ He looked over at you before saying, “Maybe bring someone special with me.” Your heart fluttered, you had a hunch that Mark had a crush on you at times. Other times, you think he only sees you as a friend. You’d be okay with that as long as he was happy. Though when he looks at you like that you think twice, Maybe he could return your feelings.

He looks away flustered before coughing. “Well i should go i gotta look at your answers- i mean the data from life support. “ He walked backwards till he was at your door. He hit the door clumsily, before saying, “I’ll talk to you later, captain.” You smiled and waved as he left. He was adorable, you shook your head walking over to your desk. That's when you noticed Mark’s tablet there unlocked and open on some page.

“He must have left it here”, You thought as you picked it up with the intention of returning it to him you saw what was pulled up. An article named “The 36 Questions That Lead to Love”, Your face heated up as you scrolled and realized these were the questions Mark had been asking you all day. You sat down, hands2 over your face. Does this mean he likes you? It has to be, You knew he might have a crush on you and know you know for certain so, why was it affecting you so much. Yeah you might have a little crush on your head engineer, but that's all it was. You looked over at the photo of you and Mark that you kept on your desk.

Maybe it was more than a little crush. You picked up the now dark tablet and walked over to Mark’s office. You mumbled one of the questions you had looked at in an attempt to remember it. You could ask questions too. As you arrived outside of Mark’s office, you took a deep breath. You knocked and heard Mark yell, “Doors open Captain.” You grinned, of course he would recognize your knock. You walked into his office and your grin turned into a smile. It was always so cozy and warm in his office, not super clean and organized as yours. It had its own charm.

Mark looked up from his computer with a smile asking, “What can I do for you Captain?” you placed his tablet down on his desk, as you sat on said desk. Mark’s face flushed and before he could say anything you asked, “Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time?” He looked surprised as you waited for his answer. As he was thinking his eyes fell onto his tablet and oh…. Oh shit, he had left the screen of questions up. The captain must have seen it, they have to be mad.

Yet when he looked up at you all he could see was a soft look. Maybe you weren’t mad, maybe you even returned his feelings? He smiled and decided to take a leap of faith, “Uh, yeah actually yeah.” You motioned for him to continue, “I know this really amazing person and I’ve been really wanting to ask them out.” Your eyes met his and you placed your hand over his. “Why haven’t you done it?” You asked him in a soft voice, he stood from his chair and stood in front of you. You breath caught in your throat, he gripped your hand.

“I was nervous that they didn’t like me, but I'm not nervous anymore. I have a feeling they might like me. “ He scooted closer to you, his free hand held your face. He could feel the heat coming from your face, not like he was any better. His face must be as hot as a star. “ Do you like me captain?” he finally asked. You smiled and he released the breath he was holding.

“I do, I might even call it love Mark.” He smiled brightly and hugged you tight. You let out a light laugh and hugged him back. As he pulled back you leaned up and kissed him. He was caught by surprise but he quickly kissed you back, his hands on your hips. Kissing him was like heaven.

As you pulled apart you pressed your foreheads to each other's foreheads.

“I’m guessing I wasn't very subtle when asking the questions.” He asked and you laughed lightly, and he joined you. “No, not at all Mark, but it's okay. I’m glad you weren’t” you finished, before you leaned on his chest you both held each other.

Hellooooo, Nah trust me you're not stupid, Just my writing brain always takes over while I'm making posts and makes them way more convoluted than they need to be lmao. I'm gonna use this as a jumping off point to explain more about this AU. So to answer your immediate questions, Loki switched places with Gabriel when he was supposed to be rescued in order to pretend to be him and Lucifer is out of the cage while Michael and Adam is still trapped.

And for a more detailed answer heres this:

So, this would happen in season 13 (I originally wrote this without thinking about Jack so I'm just gonna put him off the table for now.) Normal season 13 is Loki - Left Gabriel with Asmodeus and seemingly was playing mafia god in a few hotels before getting killed by Gabriel

Lucifer - Out of the cage and messing around on earth

Gabriel - Was in hell and then was rescued and brought to Sam and Dean

Michael - Still trapped in the cage with Adam

In the AU I Wrote up Loki - Took Gabriel's place in hell when the angel was supposed to be rescued and was taken to Sam and Dean under the guise of being Gabriel. For believability and to tie up a loose end he did still kill Asmodeus like Gabriel did in the show. While his main objective is to make Gabriel suffer it's also a little deeper than that. We know Lokis father had him chained to a rock with a snake dripping venom into his eye but he still speaks fondly of him, He doesn't just wanna destroy Gabs relationship with his brothers (because lets be real it's already dead as hell) but to prove that Gabriel COULD have had his family back and they COULD be happy together. Before eventually destroying it. It should be noted that whether or not Gab ACTUALLY could fix his family is a dubious claim at best, it's more about how Lokis forgiveness of his abusive family makes him toxic to everyone else. (I'll be referring to him as "Gabriel" when he's pretending to be him to other characters)

Lucifer - Still out of the cage but who was sought after by "Gabriel" in order to repair their relationship. This actually managed to tap into Lucifers softer side for a while before he mysteriously vanished after a late night convo with "Gabriel" in the bunker. Sam was the last one to see him before said convo. He is still alive and is most likely the one causing all of nature to start reclaiming the earth.

Gabriel - Was never saved from hell by Arthur Ketch but Loki had him put somewhere "better" aka somewhere he can watch what Lokis doing to his brothers. The idea that he might be literally trapped inside like a radio or tv station is really interesting to me and probably where he is. If Castiel can get turned into a clay figure why can't Gabriel be trapped behind a TVs glass screen?

Michael - Since the cage is canonically damaged by this point in the show I don't find it too impossible a powerful god like Loki could sneak in a wisp of his illusion magic. I imagine Michael and Adam are having their own kinda hell right now. And if Loki managed to break Michael out of the cage after winding him up a bit to cause maximum damage who knows. I'll have to think more on Michael specially.

I've written a few Ficlets for this but I haven't exactly given this au a beta reader so there might be a few plotholes or things im forgetting that happened in the actual season 13 but honestly I'm kinda just having fun with this idea. Well now you actually have to tell us the story concept.

Oh boy. Jwjwjdj

Okay so it starts off with a demon summoning. You know, as you do.

A depressed trans guy in his 20s with agoraphobic tendencies finds a summoning ritual for a demon who "makes contracts of satisfaction" and the dudes like. "Huh, it's been years since my clinical depression has let me feel satisfied about anything. Maybe I'll try that?" And he does the ritual. Bing bang boom, it works and now there's a demon in his livingroom signing the contract.

Except the demon is like. An incubus. And by "satisfaction" they meant ORGASMS and shit. Kind of a mislabel. And the sneaky bastard put "this document is immutably binding until we conceive the fruits of our labor" in the contract, because he was going to try to use this to get some cool demon children.

PLOT TWIST: the trans guy is post-op and has no reproductive capabilities. So, effectively, it is impossible to fulfill the contract.

But the demon is completely unbothered by this, treating the sad human man as though they've known each other for years, and seems oddly excited about this development, not even blinking before he opts to take on a human appearance and move in with the wet paper bag of a man to act as his "lawful consort". Defaulting to calling him "sweetheart" and "doll" while making casual conversation about how much mashed potatoes have changed since the last time he was in the mortal realm.

Human: *internal screaming*

Demon: So, I should have a human name, right? So I can meet all your human friends and family? Is Bob too generic? Or maybe Lucien, that would be fucking hilarious...

So now this work-from-home wet cat who's clocked 10,000 hours into Skyrim is stuck with a surprise room mate (and they were room mates!) who views kinky sex as a friendly bonding exercise between bros (it's not gay to kiss the homies good night!) in a one bedroom apartment (there was only one bedñ).

~perspective change as the human lays in bed trying to sleep off his emotional exhaustion~

It turns out that the demon does know our protagonist, and they were lovers in several of the human's previous lives. The human doesn't remember this, but the demon does, and now wants to use this opportunity to get the human to fall in love with him again and this time choose to go to hell with him. Because the human has never once chosen to follow him into hell, no matter how deeply in love they were, and for the life of him he can't figure out why.

Demon: if I didn't know any better, my darling, I'd think you were trying to torture me... I know not who made your soul, but I curse and thank them in equal measure. This time, I will not fail. I'll save your soul by damning you to my own palace of hell, and then you need never suffer again. I will turn you into a prince, just as you have turned me into a kind and caring man... For you. And only for you.

Human: honk shoe honk shoe mimimimimimi

Shenanigans ensue, and that's where my brain stops forming the idea. Iwjsndjfj

I think both Kinn & Porsche are looking at their respective lovers in the same light by the end of the episode. I think Porsche looks at Kinn and sees someone trusting the ex who stabbed him in the back and betrayed him and his family. And I think Kinn looks at Porsche and sees someone trusting the person he's warned him about countless times and whom he deems untrustworthy.

The quandary is that they both have a right to feel the way they feel. However, this is where their miscommunication comes into play because they're both wrong. And yes, I'm gonna make a prediction here and I could be wrong. I'll take the L if I am. Porsche doesn't trust Vegas and Kinn doesn't trust Tawan. That's it. Full stop. Due to their lack of communication, I'm sure they don't see it that way though. Plus, I imagine their own emotional hang-ups, trust issues, and personal insecurities play a part in convincing them of something that's probably not true. Let's take it a step further and have a big brain moment here.

Porsche can't show Vegas he doesn't trust him and he can't shut him down. The last time he went up against the minor family, he got choked out. Granted, it was to save him from a worse fate but that's what objectively happened. Kinn can't show Tawan he doesn't trust him either because he can't find out his true motives if he's elsewhere. Neither of the antagonists in this equation are stupid, so neither of them would show their hands to someone who's openly being suspicious and wary of them.

The only way they can get proof of their suspicions is if they keep them close. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. You can keep a better eye on your enemy if you're close to them. Now, do Kinn & Porsche have trust issues between them? Yes. Do I think both of them have done (or plan on doing) something that may look shady to the other when it comes to how they handle this whole thing? Yes. Kinn has to make a choice to gain the trust of his father and people while still ensuring that Tawan (and the mole) believe their plan worked. He still doesn't know who Tawan is working with. He thinks it's Vegas but he has no proof of that. Keeping Tawan in the house makes it easier to figure out who his partner is. But also, from this episode, we know that most of the guards notice more than they let on. Hell, this episode showed us that most of the people in the major family house notice and see things none of us thought they did. With that being said, no one knows who the mole is. The mole was most likely in that room when Kinn ordered Porsche to be locked up.

As for Porsche, he may run off with Vegas because he thinks he can get more evidence of his innocence and literally everything else. I think Vegas wears a mask around Porsche like he does around most people but I also believe that Porsche can outsmart him. It's like I've mentioned in my other meta post here - Vegas lacks self control and patience, so Porsche could quite literally wait him out because he will fuck this up. His arrogance will blind him to what's actually going on with Porsche and he will believe that he's beaten his cousin. Because while Vegas wears a mask, he doesn't realize that so do other people. He doesn't know Porsche but he believes certain things about him and that's why he utilizes the approach he does with him. He can read Kinn and he can even read Pete, it seems. He can't read Porsche though, which may be due to his arrogance and Porsche himself.

Now, this is all conjecture. I could be wrong about all of this or even some of this. Porsche may not have a plan and neither does Kinn. Maybe. But something tells me there is far more going on here with both of them, so I'm not pointing the finger at either one of them for this whole thing. All I ask is that you guys remember that and cut both of them some slack here. Give them credit because neither one of them lack intelligence. I'm pointing the finger at Vegas and Tawan though because they're the reason all of this is happening and it's quite clear that they're working together. With the help of whoever the mole is, of course.

Info post!

Thank you everyone for your feedback on the demos! I am very happy you all came to like it. Don't feel discouraged from sending any new feedback though, since it's gonna be awhile until I get back to work (I'm in exam hell 'till mid May), might as well use the time to advantage.

Most of you seem more interested in game/visual novel format, therefore in this post I'll talk about features I mean to implement, or think of implementing. I'll also talk about possible updating schemes (chapter basis vs. all-at-once), let me know what you think about those. For those who won't get intimidated by text, I'll leave some WIPs for artwork at the very end :3

Discussing game features!

Random events Now this is something you've already experienced in the demo, albeit in its rough form. Since I'm planning a kinetic/linear story (aka there won't be a choice system) because writing a branching story is going to kill me, this serves as a sort of replacement. Due to random chance being involved, random events will happen only during "moments of respite", so to speak, when there is no danger and no consequences for the main plot. Random events are mostly "character flavor", additional moments that, if you miss, won't hinder the major story, but they do add fun little details to characterization. This should mitigate possible unfairness while still bringing some replay value to the table. I plan on implementing a scene list, where you can view names of all encountered/unlocked scenes, sort of like achievement list.

Turn based battles This one is more ambitious but not entirely impossible. There are tons of tutorials on battle system in Renpy and even codes already written and running. Battles could be another way to make up for lack of choice system and thus lack of gameplay. Plus, the script outline already features numerous fighting scenes, and given it's VtM, I feel battles could be implemented organically. I'm mostly thinking of watered down Darkest Dungeon, or, if you're hip, Honkai Star Rail. The amount of "water" is yet to be decided, but it should be relatively simple both for me to implement and for you to play through. Don't know if I'll add anything that could be called "leveling up characters" but I am thinking of making battles skippable in options. This is still mostly an idea, and I'll need to make some tests first to see if I'll be able to implement this in actual game.

Updating schemes!

First things first, I'll need to write the entire script. The reason why I don't want to make it chapter basis is, based on my past experience, there's a high chance I'll figure out some changes needed in previous chapters as I work on next ones, so I go back and edit them accordingly. And this works best if I'm writing the full thing back to back, without publishing. Release when it's ready. This should take me a year, give or take, again based on past experience (it's almost the same amount of writing I had to do back then). I understand it's quite long but I don't feel comfortable changing this workflow of mine :(

Now, for actual game development, there are two options:

All-at-once Basically the same as with the script. I develop the entire game and then publish it in one piece. Personally I feel this would work best for me, but it would increase the already big enough wait time to around two years, best case scenario. Probably two and a half, or even three. I understand it's hard to wait that long, which is why there is a second option.

Chapter basis I develop a chapter (insert all the text, art, animation, music, etc.), publish it, then proceed to work on the next one and release it when it gets done and so on. Sort of like game patches. Bendy and the Ink Machine style if you remember that thing. You redownload the project and continue from your last save. This gives me a bit less control but also makes you wait significantly less for main story content.

Please let me know which option you would prefer.

10. Undertale

Undertale is another one of those games where if you talk about it, you have to walk around spoilers, and I don't want to do that to you guys. It's just a great RPG.

9. Portal 2

The Portal series is great, and Portal 2 shows that greatness in a hell of an adventure. GLaDOS and Wheatley are great characters and the puzzles are intuitive. Not to mention, getting to know the history of Aperture Science is amazing as well.

8. RollerCoaster Tycoon

Ah, RCT. It took what made Theme Park great, added a killer roller coaster builder, simplified staff and stall management, and just improved everything possible. The screenshot is of RCT 1 in OpenRCT2, which is the best way to play both the original and the sequel now, in my opinion.

7. System Shock

This game was groundbreaking at the time, and its style of immersion and horror still stick out today. This was the first game to get close to the now-standard WASD style of movement by default. (It's not quite WASD, but it's still in the area.) SHODAN is a worthy opponent, and one of the scariest AIs ever put into a video game.

6. McPixel 3

A goofy little puzzler that's big on laughs and moon logic. McPixel 3 has you save the world from many threats, and it also has a killer soundtrack. It also is mind-challenging as you try to figure out how you have to solve each puzzle, because each puzzle is different. I love McPixel 3.

5. DOOM II: Hell on Earth

DOOM DOOM DOOMy DOOM. I love DOOM. DOOM II is the best of the classics in my opinion because it knows how to balance its enemies. The addition of the new enemy types and the Super Shotgun makes the game feel like DOOM. Fuck The Chasm and Pain Elementals, though.

4. Fallout: New Vegas

What can I say about Fallout: New Vegas? It's my favorite of the Bethesda-styled Fallouts and it's one of my top favorite games. Everything just feels... right. I will never do a Caesar's Legion playthrough though, screw them.

3. Saints Row 2

Easily the best of the Saints Row games, still tongue-in-cheek but dramatic when it wants to be. I just love everything about it, and especially love the Gentlemen of the Row mod. Let's hope Volition actually gets to release the patched version that Mike “IdolNinja” Watson was working on.

2. PAYDAY 2

I love me some cooperative shooters, and PAYDAY 2 is my favorite one. It just clicks, and the characters are great. The shooting is fantastic, stealth is fantastic, it's just a great time. Also, keep those helmets flying!

1. You Don't Know Jack Volume 4: The Ride

Are you surprised? YDKJ The Ride is my favorite game of all time because its writing is sharp, its hosts are fantastic, the music is excellent, the new question types are enjoyable, its naming gags are funny, and frankly, I probably wouldn't be the person I am without You Don't Know Jack The Ride, full stop. Play it today.

So, that's my Top 100 Games of All Time. Did you see some you've never played before? They're all great games and I had a little bit of a tough time deciding the order. We'll be going back to answering questions soon, so have fun asking me some stuff, whether it's related to this or not. I'll also have a "final thoughts"/mega post tomorrow at some point. :D

Ok as promised: an actual post about this rollercoaster of an episode!

Got long again (this is becoming a trend):

I'd like to preface this by saying that there was a lot of stupid shit that happened in this episode that i am fully aware was narratively required. Which doesn't mean i'm not going to complain about it (complaining about stupid shit is good for the soul i'll have you know), it just means that those complaints should be taken in the spirit that they were meant - i mean if you're not complaining about the stupid shit, are you really watching the show? :P

Now that that's out of the way, Onwards!

We pick up in this episode right where we left off - thank god - and while not it's not exactly a smart decision, porsche choosing to go with vegas is very in character for him. The fact is, vegas really hit the nail on its head, because porsche would have absolutely gone nuts having to sit in that cell and do nothing while shit was going down.

The next sequence is both one of my favorites in this ep and the one that's at the top of my stupid shit list.

Pete and porsche's fighting was so so good, like that was some grade A choreography and camerawork right there. I enjoyed the hell out of watching my best boys go tow to tow.

My main is issue is how exactly did vegas get out???! Kinn was RIGHT THERE!! did vegas run right past him?? Was ken waiting in the hallway with a convinient laundry basket for vegas to dive into?!?!? I just don't understand *sigh* at this point i'm about ready to accept that vegas is capable of straight up turning invisible. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Kinn and porsche facing off was a good tension moment. Porsche has made his choice and now kinn's gotta make his. Again, we later found out it wasn't a very smart choice (kinn could have just explained what was going on to porsche), but please refer back to the first paragraph because this definitely falls into the category of narratively required. It's also not entirely out of character, which helps a lot, kinn's braincells have a notoriously bad track record where porsche is concerned (put simply, my boy kinn is Whipped and i don't even blame him).

Smash cut to the absolute cutest pairing in this show! They are Cuddling on the Couch, this not a drill!! Hdbfjddnxb

Naturally, things goes to shit immediately, which is just par for the course. Kim kicking ass trying to save chay? Absolute gold. Strange men touching my BABY???! how fucking dare you?! 0/10 would not recommend! I can't believe we didn't even get to see porsche just absolutly whale on tawan for laying hands on chay, what a fucking letdown >:(

Meanwhile we have ken being the mole, i kinda figured as much from pretty early on cause he was important enough for us to know him but peripheral enough that he could have been getting up to all sorts of stuff off screen.

The warehouse scene was vegas' time to shine this episode and let it be known that they managed to actually throw me off with the way the plot went. Like i was thinking, vegas had a choice to make, reveal himself to keep tawan on his side or keep the game going for porsche's benefit. my boy chose neither, he was really like "i'm tired of being nice i just wanna go apeshit" and then HE DID. Give the man bonus points for the fucking performance, my poor little meow meow killed his villain reveal moment.

Now that flashback. That Flashback.

Let me tell you, vegas has never been so fucking chilling in all of his time on the screen as he was in that fucking flasback (No. Not even in his big torture scene, you'll see why, we'll get there). That motherfucker is so so good at playing sincere. He's such a fucking snake, i was quaking in my motherfucking boots ok?

There is one other thing that flashback did to me and that was hit me with bible's actual, physical size, like steel chair to the back. Look, i knew, in my brain, that bible is a little shorter than build (from interviews and stuff) but build has delicate features and often wears baggy clothes that make him look smaller, so it's easy to dismiss the difference as not big.

I also knew that bible is shorter than apo and less broad, because we have several shots in the show that show us as much, but here we run into the inescapable fact that apo is fucking built, like, my boy is a big dude. They try to disguise it a little in the show, with staging and camera angles, but the most helpful thing is the fact that mile (who he's on screen with the most) is about his size - slightly shorter but it's a very small difference - so bible being smaller is kind of a given.

And then there's na (tawan) who is about the same height as mile, and about as broad (again they resorted to clothing and staging tricks to make him look slimmer) but did you see the flasback??? He was Dwarfing bible.

When tawan was hugging vegas from behind?? Bible looked tiny.

Tinnie tiny bible.

What the FUCK? That realization killed me dead let me tell you. Ok now that i'm done freaking out over the size of these actors let's get back to the actual episode.

Kim coming to chay's rescue was so good, and that outfit? Mmmm top notch.

Big my baby no TAT i know the man was an incurable ass, but i liked him anyway. nodted my beloved was acting his little heart out in his final scene, and fuck if he didn't nail it.

Tawan losing his shit was well done, in general na really did an awesome job as a villian, like tawan was clearly having a blast and his infatuation with vegas was portrayed really well.

Interesting that this is the first time we've seen kinn smoking, in the aftermath of this clusterfuck of a day, which, you know, fair.

Kim my sweet emotionally constipated dumbass has dipped as soon as chay woke up - hope he gets better soon (he won't, he's in love and there's no getting away now).

Chay being angry at porsche is heart wrenching but reasonable (i'm not crying you're crying shut up).

And now to The Scene, that we have all been waiting for :D

Listen, build stole the fucking show in this scene in a major way. Like, i said earlier that vegas was at his most chilling in the flashback? it's because in this scene he's standing opposite pete, who was absolutely, balls to the wall terrifying ok?

Build just fucking killed it. the genuine amusement at vegas' temper about his plan failing, the eye contact, the screaming, like i'm sorry, but vegas paled in comparison.

Pete is now the freak king of this show and i would like to see someone try and take his throne.

(That entire scene was the definition of "mark me down as scared and horny". It did things to me ok? don't judge me)

Ken dying was unexpected, despite the bloodbath that this episode has been. Gun (pretty sure that's the spelling for his name?) was nice to see on screen, it's been a while. Perth did a really good job in that final scene as well.

I knew the head was coming as soon as they put the box on the table but props to tong for giving us an exteremely convincing reaction for tankhun, who might be getting more involved in the family business, but is still comperatively sheltered.

Also it's nice to know that vegas learned his snake tendencies from his dad.

Korn kinda disappointed me cause it would have been something to watch him shoot someone point blank in the head (the old lion has still got teeth), but i'm gonna go ahead and assume that they need gun to move the plot along.

The thing on the balcony was a nice back and forth, a little more realistic standpoint of the relationship than the honeymoon phase in episode 8, and we got the infamous bed scene *thunderous applause*

Kinn forgetting pete is also in the stupid shit category, but again, narratively required.

All in all i had lots of fun with this episode and i can't fucking wait for the next one.

I honestly debated how to answer this one, because three different people asked me this question, and one of the possible answers ties directly into the answer to the second question. The short, E for Everyone-rated version of the story is that the very first time I truly held hands with my f/o, it a was because he was saving my life at the time and then comforting me after the experience. More information below, but for the full version you'd need to click through to a link I'll provide; I don't want to dig into the details here. It was an experience that I will never, ever forget, however, and shaped not only the path we took to where we are today, but also a large part of who I am at my core—I think Seto, too, though he must speak for himself in that regard.

Love Epiphany: When and how did you realize you loved your F/O? When and how did they realize they loved you?

Sooo I had a very vivid "oh fuck" moment when I was something like 15 or 16, and realized in the wake of a near-death experience that I was deeply and hopelessly in love with my best friend, Seto Kaiba, who had just saved my life and was at that moment going out of his way to make sure I was safe and supported while I dealt with the emotional fallout. I have written up the complete details of the incident once and will not do so again; it can be found here but take note of the content warnings. I didn't trigger warning tag the hell out that post for no reason. I honestly believed at that time that it was all but impossible that he would ever return those feelings, so I resolved on the spot to never, ever, ever breathe a word about it to anyone. Seto, on the other hand, ended up getting two moments like this, in different flavors. The first time was a bit over a year before it all actually came out, when Mokuba pulled him aside one day and pointed out that he had romantic feelings for me that he had failed to notice, which... yeah that checks out lol. He of course initially denied it and claimed that any and all affection he felt for me was purely platonic... that didn't last long. At Yugi's Halloween party later that year, he saw me in the outfit I'd worn which... it was an especially bold and very flattering witch dress, which probably wouldn't be that amazing on most people, but it was the first time I'd worn anything like that, especially in front of him. Up until that point, I had pretty much only ever worn very masculine clothes (I shopped almost exclusively in the men's department and it was all t-shirts, hoodies, and cargo pants) and if I was required to wear a dress at all, I wore a 17th century Italian re-creationist setup that was designed for an ice age—not unattractive, but far from revealing a lot of skin and with a lot of extra fabric that hid my figure. This dress was the complete opposite and to hear Seto tell, he knew when he saw me that he was "doomed." This is the same party where Ryou and Mokuba tricked us into a slow dance, too, so. It's kind of amazing that feelings didn't come out for several more months after this. Seto also felt that it was very unlikely that I would ever return his feelings, so there was quite a while where we were both just pining like idiots.

You Must Be Cold: How does your F/O keep you warm when it’s cold outside?

I am constantly getting handed his coat when I refused to wear my own because I didn't think it was cold enough to need one. XD He also kind of tends to keep me close to him just as a general habit, but that's true regardless of the weather lol.

-Nastasha keeps up on Gundam engineers/is familiar with Mikamura's work? That's pretty cool

-oooh, all right, Domon has given lip service to the whole "you're no longer my master" thing before, but seeing him actually talk back is cathartic

-Argo being the optimist, damn!

-okay, experimental brain wave transmitter, very cool, needs more use in fic maybe, but also like,,, scifi contrast to Shuffle magic

-"I've never thought so dearly of you as I do now" you mean not until you found out he thought fondly of you? Hmmm. Food for thought.

-now George is optimistic, and interestingly Chibodee is consistently struggling to stay positive. (Though I guess that tendency goes all the way back to his first appearance, the whole "might as well finish me now" thing - looks like being a "star of hope" actually takes some effort for him! Hope is a choice, and not always an easy one! This is so interesting!)

THIS IS ME RAMBLING ABOUT JOSEPH SO I'M PUTTING A CUT AS TO NOT BE ANNOYING ON YOUR DASHES

I'm emotional rn for some reasonnnn

The logical side of my brain looks at him like he's just some guy and I've seen better looking men

But the part of my brain that communicates with my heart is the bitch steering

And idk how to explain my attraction to him

Sure part of it is having an actual physical attraction to him

When I say he is the blueprint of my type and men I'm attracted to that's not a joke

But it's so much more than that

Here's where the stupid delusional parasocial relationship comes in

I've been (more or less) keeping up with this dude for 17 years

Longer than ANYONE else

Watching interviews, listening to his music

I admit I'm in love with the IDEA of him

I don't know him personally and let's be real I probably never will

But from the persona he puts on the man makes me soft

Most of my celebrity crushes begin and end with physical attraction

But there is something about Joe and Paul that I've never been able to explain or even understand

And I purposefully stayed away from Joe BECAUSE I knew that the deep love I had for him when I was a tween never died as much as I tried to claim it did

He meant so much to me back then

He means a lot to me now

For the past 4 years since I downloaded TikTok I was on a corner of Jonas Brothers TikTok

And I was on a slippery slope of falling back into the obsession which I fought against but this past August I gave up because my mental health was declining and I needed a metaphorical life raft because Paul's music wasn't bringing me the comfort it used to

So I figured if the Jonas Brothers could save 12yr old depressed suicidal me why can't they save 26yr old depressed suicidal me

And they did

The Jonas Brothers have always been one of my favorite bands both because of nostalgia but also I genuinely do love their music

With the way my brain works in two months I could look back on this post and laugh at how mentally ill I am about Joe

Or maybe he really has replaced Paul as the parasocial love of my life and I'll be like this for the next decade at least

Who fucking knows?

What I do know is I am so grateful for this guy and his brothers

And while sometimes this fixation annoys the shit out of me and I wish I could think about and listen to anything else I am glad it happened again

I've gotten new writing inspiration

I'm making edits again

I have a strive to get my life together and to get better mentally

Hell, I even picked up trying to learn Spanish again

My relationship with my own brothers is the strongest it's EVER been

And that's because of all three of them but more specifically Joe

Because let's be honest I'd have never become a JB fan in the first place if I didn't think they're 17yr old tambourine player was cute and could sing nice

I can write a whole essay on the power Joe's voice has on me but that's for another day

Thoughts About the Second Hour

Yesterday I finally finished up my play-through of the Switch version and yes I cried during the very final cutscene lol

But then I went back to my new PS4 save and continued on...

Here we are starting to get into the longer prologues... I was able to blast through three of them + tutorial battles in the first hour, here we slow down a little

I'm not sure why exactly the English localization was unable to use H.G. Wells's name in-game but the whole "that one author" thing is awkward as hell, especially with the JP voice track on. when I said in my last thoughts post that the localization was dodgy, well... this is kinda what I mean lmao. I figure this is some copyright-based limitation but it's still silly, especially when the allusions to The War of the Worlds are so explicit otherwise

that said I find it interesting that the world of 13 Sentinels has stand-in fake names for movies from our own, but The War of the Worlds (and its author) is explicitly name-dropped. I just find this interesting because you know what movies they're "not" talking about otherwise (Godzilla, E.T., Terminator, etc.). this may perhaps be due to something we find out later

I love Minami, honestly... this game has really great female characters. I think most of the guys are actually kinda boring (their scenarios are much more interesting than they themselves are, let's put it that way) but the girls are all *chef's kiss*

I also love BJ... you can tell, after he gets oriented, that he thinks Minami is kind of A LOT

I was playing this and going through the last part of Minami's prologue thinking, wow I just love all of this... honestly the end with the Hi-Quads looming in the background (and the one suddenly standing up to look at her on the ridge) is one of the best moments of the early game

this isn't the first time Lonely Struggle is played but I really love this track and its use here... the whole soundtrack is pretty great but sometimes it's easy to forget it's a game soundtrack. Lonely Struggle in particular sounds like it came straight out of a Godzilla movie

Ogata showed up before in Hijiyama's prologue and I didn't like him there, either lmao

finally getting to the battle tutorial section... out of all the sentinels, the 2nd gen and 3rd gen are the ones where I'm reminded, oh yeah, these things are basically walking tanks. 3rd gen in particular are slow as fuck for most of the main campaign

I'll talk about Miura more when I get to his prologue but I think he is actually one of the better-written guys in the game... out of all of the boys I think he has the most nuance, unfortunately on the surface he's kinda boring lmao

another blink and you'll miss it bit of foreshadowing: "this was his last gift to me"

then we get to Yakushiji's prologue, which has to be my favorite in the entire game... all the scenes are really well put-together and memorable, from Kurabe showing up in the sentinel right up to the "contract" scene with Fluffy

another thing we are shown very casually: Kisaragi comes from the same "time" as Yakushiji

I remember this being the first part of the game where I was really truly disoriented... you go from 2024 (hmm) to 1985 (hmmmm) with a flashback to 2025 (hmmmmmm) and I was like wow there's just something kinda cray cray about this. the time traveling seemed very significant when it was shown in Hijiyama's and Minami's prologues but here it's happened so casually and without comment lmao so when the talking cat shows up it doesn't even seem that weird tbqh

when I said the game doesn't spoon feed you information, this is all what I'm kind of talking about... you already got shown that there's something up with Kurabe in his prologue (the documents in Morimura's office), but here we find out three things: he's a time traveler (and from very, very far into the future), he actually was Juro Izumi, and he's suffering memory loss. Kisaragi is also from Yakushiji's time period but we know she's also in 1985 at the same time, as shown in Fuyusaka's prologue. time travel was introduced in Hijiyama's prologue and now everyone can apparently do it lmao. the game does eventually provide explanations for all this but the explanations are usually only stated once and never brought up again

I love the scene with Fluffy, he's honestly a great character. once you know who he actually is all of this is very funny and also note that he never once lies to Yakushiji lmao

do note that no matter what you pick during the "choice" Yakushiji actually refuses to make a contract with Fluffy... she either sarcastically "accepts" or just straight up says no

two great pieces of music play in this prologue, Impending Doom (which was first played in Kurabe's prologue) and A Clause with Claws, one of my favorite tracks in the story sections

finally, the battle segment... we're introduced to sentinel recovery here but during my first play through, I never used it. I forgot it was even a thing to be quite honest until I was browsing YT comment sections and someone mentioned how they almost got a game over in one part of the game... and I was like "oh yeah :o"

I don't like Ogata but I do think he and Kisaragi are a good couple lmao

little tangent: if I ever harp on about how I forgot some significant detail in the tutorial section it's because... the second time I picked this up I believe I played up to a certain point and then put it down for a couple weeks . as much as I love this game, for me it didn't really pick up until a certain series of events several hours into it. the early game is equal parts entertaining, confusing, and honestly kinda boring (which is why I didn't zip through it when it launched, and even back in 2020 I only got about 8 hours into it before I stopped playing). but on a repeat play through you can see just how tight and well-written the narrative actually is. it's just the game is really really invested in getting you to think it's about one thing when it's actually about something else entirely :v
