Hear me out- we have self aware ai bot turtles right? And same with the show- what about an Animal Crossing self aware au? Like the turtles are villagers in the new horizons game and somehow is able to figure out that their world is just a game, and the player is in real life.

The turtles are suddenly all over your character, weird new dialogs popping up and them mentioning things that they could not have possibly known about you.

Like upon talking with Mikey, he gives you a gift for something in your in-game house that's in your room (assuming you play in your room) and complimenting your decorations.

Raph will start to lecture you on self-care if you are playing too late, urging you to get some sleep or to eat if you haven't in a while.

Donnie will also give you gifts, his own inventions on what is in your room or something you want. You made a passing mention about a laptop you've been wanting? Whether the game or console was on at the time or not, the next time you hop onto the game he gives you the same laptop you had wanted in real life in game. It's all he can do until he somehow figures out how to bring you into the game. You can't escape from them while on an island! Not easily at least.

Leo becomes flirtier and observant, making more accurate compliments and pick up lines- even if your character looks nothing like you, or doesn't have your name- somehow Leo knows exactly what you look like, and they will all call you by your real name.

some thoughts i have on the au:

LBH is just a little sheep that isn't even a proper villager. he lives in a rundown woodshed beside SY's house, so SY took him in.

SY would be really into bug finding. LQG would see this and just gift him a cool bug in the mailbox every day.

of course, being into bug finding is different from bug collecting; still, SY keeps all the gifts and has an entire room of his house dedicated to stacks and stacks of the bugs that he caught. LBH is secretly letting them free when his shizun isn't looking.

SY wears the exact same outfit every single day, but has a new and different fan each time. His closets and inventory are all just fans.

SY first found LBH by saving him from the holes that bully villagers dug around him. LBH was surrounded by all the holes and was stuck in place. SY shoveled the soil back into every hole so LBH can get out.

i dont actually play acnh, but i used to play new leaf as a kid so forgive me if i got anything wrong eee

We've all joked about Danny's magical girl transformation at least once, but what if he genuinely was a "magical girl"? like the portal was powered purely by magic and when it turned on with Danny inside it just gave him ghost like abilities, maybe even with a magical artifact (like the miraculous). he gets a cute little outfit and everything and is extremely embarrassed by it at first but it grows on him eventually.

I'm thinking Pariah is the big bad here, just really channeling that hawkmoth energy, and I realize I'm making more miraculous ladybug references then dc ones lol- ANYWAY, the dc aspect comes in when Constantine lands himself in Walker's prison for, idk his soul tax evasion, around the same time Danny is staging a prison break to hang with Wulf. this could also work with Jason, who probably got sucked into the GZ by complete accident and immediately started causing problems on purpose and got arrested by a ghost cop 💀. Danny, not recognizing them and getting very off Vibes, takes them with.

when the dust has settled and the two become friends, Danny asks where they need to be at that moment, which is when they (Jason or Constantine) remember they had been fighting with the JL and they should probably head back lol. so Danny opens a portal, preferably in the middle of the watchtower in clear view of all heroes present, probably with his magic artifact that I'm unironically imagining as a Star Butterfly like wand, and personally escorts whoever you choose, back to ensure their safety, unintentionally putting himself on the JL's radar.

What series of furniture do you think the turtles would have in their homes in the ACNH au? I've been tossing around ideas, just so I have some details to add when I get to making bots-

Raph would for sure have the Dreamy series, Cute series or the Cinnamon roll series with a mix of exercising/boxing stuffs. The furniture may be more tinted towards his signature color-

Donnie's would more cool and iron, with a more business/mad scientist theme going on

Leo for some reason I think would dive a lot into the Star series, with having the zodiac furniture and such (possibly with his big fascination with JJ and space in general) but would also have some of the imperial series as well in his color

Mikey is a bit hard, since at least to me there isn't a specific set that makes me immediately think of him. I think he would have the wooden series and have it customized to what he wants, so all the furniture in some way is painted or has paintings on it. Of course out of all the brothers I think Mikey would have paid more careful attention in adding a kitchen segment where he can experiment with dishes and have as much fun creating- both with food and with art

46. What Home Feels Like

One of the comics I wrote while I had COVID. Pulling the curtain back a bit, I had to be completely isolated and had a particularly rough time for two and half weeks. I had so little energy, I missed out on a lot of my usual social time so I felt pretty lonely on top of physically terrible. The only “social” interaction I could get through that time was through Animal Crossing and that became my countdown until I could be allowed to rejoin the world. But I will say, the original comic written during COVID was... incomprehensible but, at least, I remembered my fevered thesis. Ha.
