Hazardcore is an aesthetic that’s already existed for a long time, but that I’ve incorporated into my near-post-scarcity worldbuilding project.

What do people in such a post scarcity world do? With no job, free rent, free food, free internet, a monthly stipend around $1500 (2023 continental US buying power… ish) and hobby shops nearby, hiking trails everywhere, drugs, power tools, and spray paint available for a reasonable price, all delivered by automated train from… y’know… over there. Somewhere.

The (a) result is Hazardcore, a movement of people who enjoy dangerous hobbies of all kinds sharing their experiences and custom gear online, seeking out ways to top themselves and each other, design and build new equipment to do it, and make sure you’ve got the skill and balls to pull it off.

I doodle fashion designs, but that can tell part of the story. They incorporate a lot of caution stripes, warning labels, and bright colors, both for fun and because it can legit save your life.

And as any subculture that people devote their entire lives to has, it’s developed more… frivolous fashion as well. Sometimes fashion gets in the way of safety and… well, medical care is also free and bloodstains fit the aesthetic.

And a lot of people die. It’s widely socially discouraged. Some people call it a cult.

I just noticed, in your HHStargazers AU no one has pupils - except for Alastor and, if she's canon, Carmilla. Does that mean slit pupils are a sign of a demon in disguise?

Good eye! 👈👈👀 (Pun unintended.) Though I don't really plan for this trait to be repeatedly shared amongst the disguised demons. Mostly to not limit my designs to an obvious tell. But the slit pupils were indeed intentional flaws I added in for those two in particular. Because according to MY headcanon, both angels and demons are beings beyond human comprehension. Thus, it's only to be expected that even when they TRY to fit in, they'll be unable to keep EVERY aspect of their uncanny nature concealed. At best, they're imperfect imitations of what "normal" should be. It just so happens that in my AU, angels have a much easier time concealing most of their little quirks and oddities away than the sinners for my own reasons and as for WHY no one ever grew suspicious of the eye thing, it's because Charlie's curiosity could be easily curved. While for Lucius to point this out, he'll have to admit that he's been staring at Alastor's eyes a lot whenever he gets close enough to drown in the depths of his gaze and- EHEM!!! Which he's NEVER done, mind you! AhahaHAH- What slit pupils??? Never noticed those before. Nuh-uh. NO siree. NOPE! Lucius is normally so, SO normal about Alastors VERY much normal eyes in a TOTALLY normal amount of normal. A-ANYWAAAYS!!! Lucius would also be a hypocrite if he was bothered by them considering his own occupation and the people he's usually surrounded by (yet to be revealed). As for the other humans, Alastor doesn't care enough about their opinions for it to be a threat to him and people often just avoid the guy unnerving them with his creepy ass stare. So it's all good! Hope you like these bonus fun facts! 'Cause I have a feeling I left you with just as much questions as answers, but that's the fun of an ongoing story, yeah? Stay tuned~! 😉✨️ -Bubbly💙

I drew Ahti II and his never before seen, very best friend Karleeen (three e's is intentional) for Halloween! They're dressed as Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens :) Someone likened Ahti II to Azi once and given that he already had a dark-haired "best friend" who is part edgy animal... it was only natural to have this costume arrangement. Please don't spoil anything about the show though, I am only in the first few episodes of season 1!!

On another note, imagine having to buy pants with eight pant legs. The cost would be insane...

Thinking about Amber Bolt again and wondering about the lore you have for her 👀

Hooo boy where do I even start

Aight so first off, Amber is actually not her real name, it's an adventuring name she uses to follow Tabaxi naming conventions, to make her seem less suspicious. her name, given by her caretaker who took her in when she was orphaned in waterdeep, is Rhema. That caretaker, is working for the zhentarim and had groomed Rhema into joining as well to repay her for all good she's done for her. So now Rhema works as a spy and blackmailer for the zhents 👍

Now, around five sessions in, the cats out of the bag (ha) and the party knows, one of the party members have a bounty on his head and Rhema had to weigh whether killing him due to a petty argument between siblings (it was his sister who set the bounty) or keeping him alive for the sake of the mission they're all on which means going against orders. For now she has chosen the latter and is an absolute anxious mess over it lmao

They met in high school, and fell in love around sophomore year.

Kioshi and Luthor were kind of an 'opposites attract' kind of pairing. While Luthor was more friendly and outgoing, Kio was friendly, but super shy, and not super experienced with relationships.

Coincidentally, they were neighbors, so there was no way they weren't going to meet each other eventually.

When they started dating, Kio had to make him promise to keep their relationship between them. His family, wouldn't have been too fond of the very idea of their son being queer. He had the money saved up to leave if needed, but very limited options, if Luther wasn't involved, at least. After begging and pleading, Luthor would've agreed to keep his word until after graduation. The idea of keeping their relationship a secret, however, was stupid and unnecessary to Him. His parents never really cared about who he dated, so why make a big deal out of it?

That didn't stop Luthor from giving him cold shoulders and silent treatments every now and then, during their last years of high school. And during those long, agonizing 2 years, Kioshi would notice his friend group dwindling, one by one. Everywhere Kioshi went, Luthor would follow.

And isolation not far behind.

Even the most stubborn, or closest friends he had, would take their leave eventually. It felt like a game, at this point. Luthor would grow more and more possessive.

And with no one to really talk to, what could Kioshi...do?

Graduation was tomorrow, and Kioshi was fucking terrified. The thought of just graduating meant nothing to him, though. It was Luthor. A constant reminder in his head, that slowly turned more and more pushy and aggressive over the years.

'If you don't tell them, i will.'

'I'm tired of constantly waiting on you.'

'Look, if they don't accept you, I will help you, okay?? Remember we talked about moving to an apartment after graduation? I said you could come live with me! I promised I would take care of you.'

He couldn't live with Luthor.

'Why not?? I thought you wanted to be together?? Don't you trust me?'

He loves him still, he just wants to be independent again. He just wants a little space.

'...You don't trust me.'

I never said that.

'Are you..embarrassed of me? Is that what this fucking is?? You're EMBARRASSED of me????

'After EVERYTHING i fucking did for you, for 2 FUCKING YEARS, you're not sure??? IT'S BEEN 2 FUCKING YEARS!'

Porcelain shards scattered all over the floor. The vase that Kioshi spent months shaping, sanding, glazing, baking. The one thing he was proud of, shattered like it was nothing.

Kioshi's head was bleeding. It was now night time, and Luthor was nowhere in sight.

After adjusting himself, he frantically cleaned up the mess, himself, and packed his things. Clothes, paperwork, his savings, anything and everything he could physically carry in his bags. At least his weight training was paying off.

His phone was nothing but unanswered messages. It's been hours, apparently. Luthor was constantly switching between a horrendous rage to a suicidal state. Paralyzed with fear and dread, he sat on his bed, and waited for the sun to finally rise.

The sounds of the occasional ping on his phone shook him more than anything else.

He left his bags with a friend, who somehow stuck around, despite Luthor driving everyone away, and went to his graduation. Oddly enough, neither his parents or Luthor were seen.

After leaving the ceremony, he finally looked at his phone again.

He nearly collapsed right then and there.

Missed calls from everyone left and right, voicemails filled with anger and rage. Paragraphs full of denial, and single sentences that stung like hot iron into your skin.

He can't come home anymore. He has no home anymore.

All he knows to do now, is run.

Design notes:

This took way longer to post than I expected mainly because of imposter syndrome and constantly thinking I could do more for his entry but, I'll keep this as Ace's main style anyway. It's pretty simple compared to previous designs, but to be fair, devil Ace's personality and shenanigans would stand out enough to compensate for that matter LOL

As I said on Deuce's post, I wanted to connect their designs in some aspects, so yeah! Complementary color pallettes! That's why they both have few shades that stand out of their main monochrome colors, Deuce is blues and greens, while Ace stays around red and oranges!

Fashion-wise now, I initially pictured him pulling a lot more references from 80s men fashion, but ig by the end I accidentally strayed away from that and somehow incorporated a more "modern" influence to it? Man I'm very bad at describing the creative process and vibes of my designs but what else is new 😭😭 ANYWAYS, off topic but I should mention that, as you can see I'll throw in a high heel in any characters that give me the opportunity to do so, this one especially, I had Cleo's "dawn of the dance" heels in the back of my mind while designing, ( I forgot to include in the image above again 😔) which fun fact, was my first Monster High doll I got as a kid, so-!!! That's a shoe style that I'm very fond of KWDNWKSNSK

LORE DUMP TIME, ok so given each characters unique scare-itage, the way the cast interact with each other and build relationships could somehow differ from how they interact in og twisted wonderland! For example, since MH!Ace is THE devil from THE bible (/ref) he probably shares a common background, or have met Vil and Idia before they enrolled in MH!NRC together! That's such a funny thing to think about for me. Who would have thought they'd ever be a trio of great childhood friends?

So Sally is like an alien in a literal sense, she is a star afterall so she is beyond the sky amd such. She landed on earth when she was young, like think very small and harmless, and was found by some people. Immediately gets taken into Ambrol city and revered as a god. As Sal grew older, her flames grew as well and at some point she could not control it so she accidentally burned her hometown down to the ground. Bummer.

It's the cowboy in me trying to escape through creative means Wrangle's Lore dump is here!!! He's... hmmmmm... basically a Link that became an Epona

Poor guy comes from a Hyrule where everyone is enjoying the peace a little too much. So much so that when the residents of the Central City heard some country kid was being claimed as the hero, they're a little reluctant to be living through another dark time in Hyrule's history. A hero showing up means terrible things, so whats a city of snobs to do but bully this "Link" child. He runs from a crowd that had gotten a hold of him and ends up where the Triforce chills out and accidentally makes a wish to the darn thing from his pleas. "I dont want to be seen as the hero. I want to run away." And the Triforce said "Bet." Next thing Link knows is he's standing on shaking foal legs and a golden set of reins settles on his head. He couldn't do much as guards heard the commotion only to find this pony hanging about and hey free horse with a side of panic as their golden relic is completely gone. Years past and Link gets the reputation of being a brute, but does enjoy watching the people panic over a doomsday that hasn't really shown any evidence at happening. He gets to live life as a work horse and bucking cocky lawmen off of him. Until one day the infamous horse thief, Midna, stops by and skips him to go after the other horses first. Only she has to hide in his stall at almost being caught before she could leave with the last horse. The guards are furious that he's the only horse left and if they can't ride him what's the point. They gang up on him to be sold and buy other horses to another farmer, butcher, glue factory, anything. Link bucks and fights but theres too many of them. But when he all but gives up Midna comes tearing out of her hiding spot and fights her way through the guards on him. She gets real hurt in the fight, but Link charges towards her and all but throws her on his back as he bolts out of the city. They get away and have a mutual respect for one another and are pals from then on. Link never really reveals he's a person, he just stays as a loyal steed. It's simpler to him.

So, I made some impulse purchases recently, including this lovely little gal.

When I ordered her, it started a bit of a Gardevoir kick in me. So I went and did some brainstorming about Jamie's Gardie pal, Clover.

This did get very long, but there's a lot of art that I really like! :3 Plus I borrowed a certain someone from @mewtwoandme~

Growing up I always drew the green headpiece as a bony structure with maybe green skin on it, like deer antlers. (Except it doesn't shed lol)

But in my efforts to redecide what it actually is to me, I went to Bulbapedia, and that called it hair. So I tried out hair as well, and I kinda like that better...

I love my deranged Gardie. :>

(Leaning into "Mischievous Fairy/Pixie" energy)

I wanted to draw some Gwen (M&M's Gardevoir), as her and Clover's characters are different in a lot of ways, and I thought it would be fun to draw them together. Turns out Gwen dwarfs my girls, and I adore that in every way. XD

I also came to realize that Jamie would admire Gwen--She doesn't wish change on Clover in the slightest, but she does like the grace that more conventional Gardevoirs possess. Plus she'd be astounded by her sheer size.

For the fun of it, I tried drawing them both in each of our styles. (Or more like "Features" than "style")

I did not like drawing Gardevoir in her style. All the respect and love to M&M, but it felt SO wrong to me personally. XD

Annnnd... I kinda accidentally thought of a different way to take their designs...

And then I tried to figure out the logistics of giving Gardvoir a tail. I kinda like the idea of there being one that blends into the Skirt, splitting and running down the length of the skirt ends.

A little character lore; Clover removed her skirt on purpose.

Growing up, I always had in mind that the skirt was skin, maybe acting as thermoregulation, or something like that. I don't think I ever decided whether they can feel through their skirts or not, but if I want it to be more angsty, then yes, they can feel.

Warning for general and self-inflicted injury in this paragraph. As a kid I figured Clover cut it off to prevent it from getting caught or grabbed. But now, with the developing idea of there being a tail involved, I got another idea with even more angst. I'm thinking possibly Clover had a tail bone broken, and maybe it healed wrong, causing her pain so she ripped off the whole skirt.

Okay, injury warning is over.

And now a little silly that's not exactly canon, but close enough. XD

Y'all can thank @puzzled-zebra for this, as she brought up the idea during a chat. It was too good to pass up. XD

And now I wish to finish with a nostalgia ramble, because Clover is very precious to me, along with Jamie.

I started a playthrough of Soul Silver many, many years ago--even before the playthrough that would become Jamie's trainer journey over ten years ago. It was a solo run, with a Ralts egg sent in to be my only companion. (I kept the rules soft, though, as I remember needing help from other Pokemon to beat Bugsy. XD) My memories of that playthough are faded, but I remember that Clover alone beat the Champion at level 64-65. Sometime within the next few years, she was my first ever Pokemon to reach level 100 without the use of Rare Candy or experience cheats. That playthough and whatever happened in it has no bearing on Clover's story, but it's what gave birth to her as a character, and I hold that very dear.

Her nature is "Hardy, Likes to Fight", and I'm really proud of little me for taking that in the direction she took it. XD

Anyway, that's my super long love-dump of my beloved gremlin fairy. Thanks to everyone who made it all the way, I know it got pretty long. ^^
