trial week

soooo, i haven't posted in a while, because this week's been extra busy. i am trying out a new set of routine and a new method to increase my productivity which is time blocking plus day theming. and so far it's been working great! i'll write something about this technique in the future but here's what i did last week:

did some email cleaning (ahck so messy!!!)

finished two reflection papers and a laboratory report on my major subj

started an online course on python programming

met with my mentor for my regular coaching session last wednesday. talked about focus and consistency

1. i’m currently learning how to speak/read/write hindi, and how to read/write telugu! (i can speak it, but rather poorly. as my grandmother tells me so often sksksks)

2. i’ve been binging the haunting of bly manor this week. is it good? no. is it extremely predictable? yes. but i love spooky stories with big casts and winding backstories, so i’m (regrettably) the target audience for this

3. it’s my best friend’s birthday today!! i called her at midnight and she picked up even though she’d been sleeping. that’s true love ;o;

6. song stuck in my head: Betty by Taylor Swift NGL I’m getting tired of it TBH. I’ve been replaying it so much the past few weeks. Mirroball and August are growing on me hehe. The only reason why Betty started looping in my head today is because I saw a tweet which said that TS shouldn’t be a queer icon because she’s cishet (I read that as shishet lol) and she shouldn’t write songs like Betty because it’s essentially queer baiting idk I don’t want to think about that right now I’ll allow my brain to be smooth 🦥

10. dream job: for a year now I’ve had my sights set on becoming a law professor but I like to spice things up so I’ve been questioning a lot lately 🤣🤚🏼🤚🏼. Earlier I was like what if I become a journalist or a news anchor?? I’m not entirely sure but my dream job will definitely be a medium for me to help others.

11. wearing: green screen pajama pants + royal blue shirt from a school event lol

12. favorite song: I can’t name a certain one but the girl from ipanema (Stan Getz, João Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto) has a very special place in my heart.

14. aesthetic: okay...this is hard. I strive for a super basic aesthetic like lots of browns/earth tones but I also want that sporty and preppy vibe along with it? think green juice girl aesthetic except the only green drink I want to consume is matcha...don’t know if my aesthetic has a name but I don’t mind not having a solid niche.

15. favorite authors: I don’t have a favorite one but Suzanne Collins deserves a shoutout because holy shirt THG is so well written u can enjoy it at any age. Reading it as a 20 year old hits different especially in this climate.

16. favorite animal sounds: you know when it’s night time and it’s kinda cold but ur dog is sleeping and they’re super warm and then out of nowhere they just sigh...

about me : ( introduce yourself and what you study )

hi! my name’s almasa and am a british (ethnically sri lankan) student who is doing her gcses. i go by she/her pronouns! i’m a virgo, a hufflepuff and an infp (but am probably ambiverted). aside from compulsory english lit + lang, maths and triple science, i’m learning french, german, history and religious studies for my gcses. as well as this, i’m doing a course in arabic outside of school. i’m absolutely loving all the subjects i’m doing at the moment but if i had to choose, my top three would be english (both lit and language), chemistry and french.

my interests : ( what i like doing )

reading, writing, journaling (i’ve been on a longgg journal hiatus but i’m trying to start again!), baking, cooking, history, reading poetry, listening to music, learning languages, exploring cultures- i’m actually enjoying quite a lot about life at the moment.

why have i started over? : ( a fresh start! )

my purpose and aim with this blog is productivity, positivity and self care. after a bit of a rough academic year last year as well as personal issues, i’ve wanted to work on this blog and finally use this as some sort of motivation as well as spreading a bit more positivity and making friends! because i need friends on here oof-

my goals for this year : ( what do i want to achieve? )

i want to be kinder to myself. i want to stay healthy and exercise regularly. i want to (try) and improve my art skills. i want to post more original content. finally, i want to start the 100 days of productivity in december!

@kindlestudies - i actually only followed her quite recently but i love her blog! like many of the others listed here, she posts a range of content and i love the layout of her blog.

@studykouffee​ - some of the most beautiful, simplistic journal spreads- one of the reasons i started journaling again.
