Sherlock Holmes to Watson, taken out of context: "I can READ YOUR MIND because I'm in RAPPORT with you, I LOOK YOU IN THE EYES and I know what you're thinking, do you want me to prove it to you?"
Not out of context, in fact

Sometimes I just glance at the Supernatural tag and see some quote or line from the show or gif that makes me go "oh, y’all got BAITED queerbaited, didn't you?" Like the level of psychic damage is somehow above and beyond the queerbaiting in Sherlock, which I didn't think was POSSIBLE

At the time of which I speak, Holmes had been back for some months, and I at his request had sold my practice and returned to share the old quarters in Baker Street. (The Adventure of the Norwood Builder)

sherlock teaching john to dance is easily the most romantic piece of writing in the entire show like the symbolism of sherlock standing alone surrounded by dancing couples is suggestive enough but the addition of him having taught john how only confirms the sentiment that he’s alone because he’s meant to be dancing with john

the additional fact that acd and wilde were good acquaintances (which is examined in a paragraph above the first screenshot) speaks volumes. maybe just coincidence, but this feels really compelling to me. just something to think about.
more info on oscar wilde's legal battles here. and the original set of articles, "Sherlock Holmes and Victorian Homosexuality" in part one and part two.

Watson on Holmes, taken out of context: we took a long walk in silence, as befits two men who know each other INTIMATELY; in other words, if I don't drag him out of the house from time to time he's always stuck to that chair, and if--god forbid--someone comes looking for him while we're out, I'm never going to hear the end of it
Not out of context, in fact, especially as far as the old married couple vibes are concerned
(From The Adventure of the Yellow Face, February 1893 issue of The Strand)

Reminder that queerbaiting is “characters in this show were intentionally & definitively advertised as being queer in order to increase viewership with queer people, when the show itself doesn’t depict the queerness advertised.”
Queerbaiting is not “these two characters seem to have lots of romantic chemistry to me & even though there has never been any explicit evidence of queerness & the creators have in fact politely denied the romance rumors multiple times, I’m convinced they’re just hiding the secret gay love agenda, and when it turns out that wasn’t the case, I’m going to absolutely crucify the creators/actors/show.”

some rando to me on Twitter: why does every platonic male friendship have to get sexualized. like House and Wilson. it never ends
me: House and Wilson are infamously filled with queer subtext. I haven’t seen the show and I know that. and they’re based on Holmes and Watson who are perhaps the most well-known infamously queer subtextual relationship in history. so this is very funny to me, I’m sorry to say
