Another ask, this time just for fun. What are your thoughts on original characters in fanfic? Furthermore, what about fanfics that center around original characters?
thank you very for the ask, @hauntingpercival
and the answer is that i am a great defender of original characters in fanfiction because fanfiction is a hobby we do for fun - which means we are entitled to do whatever the fuck we want when writing.
i think that it's incredibly unchic behaviour when people decide they're suddenly professional editors exclusively to complain about their presence in stories - and i don't think there's anyone in fandom who can cast a stone against others when it comes to being a little self-indulgent in their writing...
because - of course - it's basically impossible to write a story set in the harry potter universe [even with the lightning generation] which doesn't use original characters at some point.
even if your protagonist is the most canon-accurate version of the character ever to walk around canon-accurately, co-workers and fellow students and parents and siblings and love interests and friends and shop assistants and random passers-by all need to be pulled from the ether to add colour to the story - and this is especially the case if an author wants to delve into themes or eras which are overlooked in the canon narrative.
as someone who writes a lot about voldemort's life, i have needed to come up with plenty of original characters to serve as his teachers, schoolmates, fellow orphans and so on - and i think it's worth saying that while some of these, like abraxas malfoy, are mentioned in canon, the fact we know nothing canonical about them beyond their names means that they function as original characters too.
and i find it tremendous fun.
[and i've spoken elsewhere about my favourite oc - romulus lestrange - father of the erstwhile rodolphus and rabastan.]
and i do think that it's worth offering a defence of that fun element - i see a lot the suggestion that it's a bit cringe [or, perhaps, a bit arrogant] to take original characters seriously, but i actively enjoy thinking up character details and writing characterisation notes and so on for people who exist exclusively in my head. and - yes - i think the process of fleshing out oc's has broader benefits to me as a writer, but that's really a secondary point next to the fact that it's fun.
i also love naming oc's - and i want to offer here a defence not only of fun but of whimsy.
it has been my great pleasure while writing one year in every ten - which is a murder mystery formed of three different poirot novels in a trenchcoat - to cram in as many characters named after crime writers or stars of classic detective novels as possible.
[when i'm taking things a bit more seriously, i like thinking about the class vibes of the series when making sure any pureblood original characters have anglo-norman names...]
and so - while we're taking a stance in favour of fun and whimsy - i think it's important to also back stories centred around original characters. and to do this even when these oc's are transparently author self-inserts.
all too often the conversation around oc's focuses on how to make them "good" - how to make them unclockable as a self-insert, how to avoid writing a mary-sue, and so...
but i think that's the wrong way to look at it.
people write mary-sues because they want to - because fanfiction is escapism and because sometimes it's nice to imagine yourself as flawless and beloved. people write self-insert because they want to - because it's fun to imagine yourself as part of a fictional world which means a lot to you.
i'm not sure i'd personally find writing an original character self-insert fun [largely because i'm a mess and nobody would want to read about me] - and, to telegraph my own hypocrisy, i really don't like it when characters who have a lot of canon material behind them turn into unrecognisable author surrogates [hence my enmity with fanon!hermione], which i do think it can be argued is a meaningfully different phenomenon...
but people who do enjoy it? well, i love that for them. not everything has to appeal to me, after all.
and - even when oc's aren't mary-sues or intentional author inserts - sometimes it's nice to give the responsibility of telling the story you want to tell to a character of your own, instead of asking a character who has to be dragged from canon to do it for you.
and i know that i do find writing a story centred around these sort of oc's fun because i'm... doing it.
metallurgy - the upcoming sequel to bookbinding - hinges entirely on its original characters: the seven children [since seven is the most powerful magical number] of tom riddle and myrtle warren. these lot are causing carnage in the wizarding world of the 1970s, and i am very much enjoying the ride...

Hello dear💖, thanks for your request.
Sherlock holmes x ravenclaw reader x Severus Snape

“apparate”
The sound of a female’s voice whispered from the middle of the night. The streets of London were silent and empty; not a pin drop of any sounds could be heard through the quiet street. A woman with a black cloak with highlights of blue walked down the gravel path; she checked her pocket watch as the hands struck midnight. “Perfect”, she muttered. The mysterious woman’s lips curled in a catlike smile as she began to pick up the pace; her heels clicked against the gravel in a rhythmic tune. She recognised this street; her cousin lived around here, and believe it or not, she worked for Sherlock Holmes. Yes, Sherlock Holmes, the infamous detective who solved crimes with his sidekick Watson. The woman stopped as she came across a sign that pointed toward the right, reading “Baker’s Street”. The woman followed the direction in which the street sign was pointing. As she walked, the woman thought of her happiest memories at Hogwarts, the school for witchcraft and wizardry. Y/n L/n was a pureblood, a witch sorted into Ravenclaw, a house for the wise and curious. There were other houses in Hogwarts; Gryffindor, a house for the brave and bold; Hufflepuff, a home for the loyal and kind and Slytherin, a house for the ambitious and cunning. Indeed, it was the same school Harry Potter attended. Ever since Harry Potter showed up at Hogwarts, Mysterious and dangerous things started to happen. Things that revolved around the Dark lord. It was said the dark lord was dead. However, there were rumours that he had risen once again. The question that struck y/n the most was, ‘Were those rumours true?’ According to Harry, there was evidence. Whether the evidence was false or true, y/n had always been keen to investigate the case. However, it was more challenging since y/n was only a student then.
Y/n came to a stop when she came upon a familiar door that read “221B” on the front. She lifted her hand and gave the door an excellent, big knock! Kock! Knock!
A brittle yet forbearing woman much older than y/n answered the door. “Good morrow, my dear cousin; my word, this place still hasn’t changed, not one bit”, y/n energetically greeted the older woman. “Y/n, deary me, I can’t believe you’re here. After all, I thought you were still working with those Aurors” The older lady smiled politely at her relative. “Mrs Hudson, who’s at the door at this hour” a man’s voice emerged from within the house. “Watson, is that you?” y/n excitedly spoke.
“Great, Scott, it’s you, y/n” Watson immediately walked to the door. “How have you been, dear woman? I can’t believe you’re here so soon; it feels like years since I’ve seen you last”.
“Is Sherlock here? Perhaps he’s asleep” Y/n smiled.
Sherlock and y/n were partners; they had been solving investigations when Moriarty was still around. Y/n, Sherlock and Watson were a trio that couldn’t be broken apart. Watson shouted down the hall. “Sherlock, y/n’s here”, he said excitedly. Y/n came inside the home as Mrs Hudson began to make tea. “Where in the devil could Sherlock be?” Watson asked.
Y/n wandered off toward the office; all her memories of the old home were reminiscent. Y/n came across the door that led into the office; it was opened, and Sherlock stood in front of the desk. “Y/n, how have you been” Sherlock awkwardly spoke. “Quite dandy, Mr Holmes” The two stood in the room in silence; the situation was somewhat awkward to talk of. But to give some premise, Y/n had always admired Sherlock ever since she started joining them. Sherlock had spent many nights thinking of their reunion; he rehearsed speeches of witty words to speak of ways to impress the woman and talk of his feelings. Sherlock wasn’t one for emotions nor the need to acknowledge them with anyone else aside from Watson. Sherlock had deeply been infatuated with the talented witch since they defeated Moriarty, their wit and cared for each other turned to affection. Although, Sherlock never reciprocated them because he was more invested in his investigations. Y/n broke the silence by saying, “Tea, Mrs Hudson has made tea; shall we join her and Watson”. Sherlock stopped y/n. “Wait, y/n; there’s something I need to tell you—” Sherlock spotted someone under the street light outside. “Hm, I didn’t know you brought company”, Sherlock mysteriously said. Y/n looked outside the window to where Sherlock was staring; a man with a black cloak and greasy raven black hair was looking directly at the door. “Severus”, Y/n muttered. Sherlock was quite cautious of this newcomer who’s intruded the empty streets unannounced. Y/n questioned, “I know that man, but I didn’t invite him either, wait here, Sherlock”.
Y/n left the office as she headed out the door; Sherlock watched from the window toward the odd man. “Something was off about him,” he thought; the way he appeared wasn’t welcoming, nor did he seem inviting. Y/n approached him with a puzzled look “Severus, what the devil are you doing here?”.
Severus glared at the woman with a cold expression. “You left with no word; what if the death eaters caught you, I nearly had Dumbledore sent after you”. Y/n was shocked at the worrisome tone in Severus’s voice. “Snape, there’s nothing to worry about; I swear I’m fine and dandy—”
“That’s not the case, you stupid nitwit” Snape grabbed y/n by her wrist. “You could’ve died, and what would I—They do without you”.
“The order has got the areas covered, is. Is this what this is about, my safety” Y/n questioned.
Severus had always worried about y/n since she started working with the order of the phoenix. Severus’s cold eyes look directly into y/n’s. “Your lucky to at least be alive” Snape let go of y/n’s wrists. Y/n frustratingly argued back, “I’m alive because you taught me how to be; you taught me those spells and charms to keep me from being in danger; I’m not a child, Severus; you can’t treat me like one”.
“I’ll treat you like one when you stop being brainless”, Snape sighed.
Sherlock couldn’t help but overhear the odd conversation and wonder who the order of the phoenix was. Who was this Severus, and what was he doing here? Who were the death eaters? He decided to introduce himself to break the tension arising from their conversation, hopefully. “Miss L/n, I had no idea you had a friend”, Sherlock politely interjected. Severus looked at the odd man wearing a suit with a pipe. “This is none of your concern, you muggle”, Severus coldly insulted. Sherlock had put something together; at least, this man was from y/n’s past, but—he was instead too overprotective—he might have had strong deep feelings for the witch.
In truth, the two men both had strong feelings for the young woman; she was the light of their lives. In different circumstances, y/n was befriended by both and besotted the two of them. Severus wasn’t a fan of this man; perhaps they were similar in intelligence and wit. Sherlock asked, “How curious, you know of y/n’s secret and by that, I assume your one with magic too”.
Severus answered with an insult, “And by that, you’re her insufferable friend”.
Watson had been alarmed by the sighting of the uninvited stranger; quickly, he dashed to see who he was. Severus sneered but muttered, “Y/n, come with me”. Y/n declined the offer “Apologies, Severus, but I need to stay with Sherlock for now; I’m safe now, trust me” Y/n placed her hand on his.
His eyes softened from her touch, but he didn’t react; he placed a hand on Y/n’s cheek. “If you die, I won’t be able to forgive myself; understand you, brainless girl.” Sherlock reassured him, “Whatever threat is pursuing, y/n won’t be able to reach her; I’ll make sure she’s safe”. Severus didn’t continue back but instead apparated out of sight. Watson stumbled outside, saying, “Great Scotland’s yard Holmes, is y/n all right”.
“Certainly, just an unwelcomed friend from y/n’s past,” Sherlock politely put it, instead of saying a scary stranger who just showed up out of nowhere.
Watson replied, “Very well then, as long as no one’s hurt; come, Mrs Hudson has just finished brewing the tea”.
Sherlock and y/n were about to head inside when y/n looked back; just a cold breeze and nothing there. She turned and joined Sherlock and Watson inside for a spot of tea.
Y/n thought of returning to Hogwarts to see the school she graduated from; however, it’s dangerous to be seen when death eaters lurk about. She had to lay low and keep Sherlock out of her business; after all, she couldn’t endanger the man she loved. Severus would return to check in on her in a few days but for now. She was safe.
anyways that's all for now:

Fiction Works 2/2: Storytelling, not Teaching or Preaching
See also: Fiction Works 1: Different Strokes for Different Folks
In part 1 I talked about exploring real experiences and potential in fiction. Here in part 2 we are going to remember that, while fiction can be a useful tool for exploration, it is not, in fact, real.
Writing gay Harry Potter fanfic does not make me a gay man (I am actually an asexual lady), nor does it make me a wizard (though c'mon, I wish!) By that same token, writing underage does not make me a pedophile.
Thomas Harris is not guilty of cannibalism, even though he wrote about a cannibal named Hannibal. Vladimir Nabokov is not a pedophile because he wrote Lolita. Bram Stoker is not a vampire because he wrote Dracula. We aren't arresting authors by the truckload for the spilling of fictional blood.
What we need to remember is this:
Fiction (noun) 1.literature in the form of prose that describes imaginary events and people. 2. something that is invented or untrue.
To sum it up: fiction is not reality.
I'm a Storyteller. Not a Teacher, or a Preacher. You shouldn't trust my use of em-dashes, let alone take an infidelity story as a how-to guide.
Stories can be a tool for so many things. Maybe it's catharsis. Maybe it's distraction. Maybe it's curiosity, philosophy, entertainment, exploration. Fiction is a safe avenue to learn, and think, and feel.
Creators are inspired by the world around them, and their own experiences. They're inspired by rainbows, and sunsets, and wildflowers. They're inspired by wildfires, hurricanes, and tornadoes. They're inspired by mythology, religion, folklore, and history. All that is beautiful and ugly and wonderful and terrible in the world.
Creators are shaped by their own lives. And, as stated in Part 1, we are all different. We come from different places, and are raised different ways, and we turn into different people. We have our own histories, our own stories, our own thoughts and opinions and preferences and feelings.
Throw it all in a blender, and maybe the tulip becomes a rose. Maybe the wildfire becomes an earthquake. Maybe the sunset is an inferno, and the night sky is the abyss. Maybe the those old ruins are the path to Heaven.
The reality of the materials used and the methods used aren't always evident in the final work. Our stories come from somewhere, sure, but it's never as cut and dry as people think.
Can stories hurt you? Sure. The way anything can hurt you. The world isn't a safe space, after all.
It's valid if a story hurts you. If you're triggered by it, or upset by it, or don't like it. Not all negative reactions are triggers, but they don't have to be. You're allowed your own feelings. But the existence of a work that upsets you is not a crime against you. A story that depicts evil deeds is not, itself, evil.
In real life, I have a zero tolerance policy for cheating. I have very strong feelings about it.
Do you know what I love to read and write? You guessed it! Cheating! It goes hand in hand with my other great love: toxic/dysfunctional relationships!
In real life, I'd never have a relationship with a person who cheated ever, even in the past. I'd not stay with someone who cheated on me. I have a very stable, happy, boring relationship. I have a good life now, because I built it from the wreckage of a chaotic upbringing.
My father cheated on my mother and left her for his mistress. He dragged his children through the middle of his dysfunctional relationship, which lasted a decade. We suffered the consequences of his choices. It's a pretty long and fucked up story, and I won't get that personal here, but the point is:
I never, ever want to experience any of that in my real world again. However, exploring those events in a fictional scenario is safe for me. There's an odd comfort in the familiarity of it. Seeing that one awful thing through different lenses, and playing out so many ways, helps me process what I went through. It soothes me now as it soothed me then, right in the thick of it, being able to explore it all in a way that was safe and that I could control. I could get off the ride at any point. I could close the word document, or close the tab. I could close the book, or turn off the TV.
My Real Father in the Real World hurt Real People with his Real Actions. That was my Real Life, and it Really Sucked.
Fictional People in a Fictional World who hurt Fictional People with their Fictional Actions...that is a story.
Real People in the Real World who hurt Real People and blame Fictional Stories...those Real People are to blame for Real Harm.
The Real Person who blames a movie for the Real Crime they committed...that Real Person is to blame. 100%.
And the Real Person who attacks Real People in defense of Fictional People...Real People who hurt Real People and use Fictional Stories as an excuse...those Real People are the villains.

About me
Hello folks! you can call me Cyrus or Cy. I'm 20 years old and I blog about many kind of things including disability, queerness, jewishness, art, fandom and politics.
I'm transmasc bigender nonbinary butch demiboy faggot dude and use he/him pronouns. I'm also german-belarusian and practice witchcraft.
I am vehemently kink positive and will tag posts where i'm lusting over blood, cannibalism and guts as #bloodthirst so filter out that tag if it makes you uncomfortable.
If you use Zionist as an insult, to categotize Jews into "good" and "bad", only get your sources from antizionists and refuse to listen to Jewish people who keep telling you it's a complex ideology with many facets and doesn't mean what you think it does - you are both wrong and stupid.
I also make image and video descriptions when I'm able to.
Further information under the cut:

BYF:
My blog is a MOGAI friendly space.
I'm disabled and chronically ill. I have rheumatoid arthritis, POTS, FND with hemiparesis, a tic disorder, BPD, NPD, dpdr, psychosis and CPTSD. I'm also autistic.
In terms of political stances I consider myself left wing and a democratic socialist. Democracy is non-negotiable. I'm pro-European Union. Anti-authoritarianism. The lives and wellbeing of humans stand above all else, especially capitalism. If you're a western tankie or Russia lover don't even attempt trying to "convince" me of your ideology. I'm Belarusian. I know more than you.
If your support for minorities stops at Jewish and Romani people you might as well hurl yourself into the sun while you're at it.
I'm also an artist and have tons of OCs. If you want to talk about them and yours go ahead!
While I do allow minors to interact with my blog, I wouldn't call it strictly SFW since I make sexual jokes and make the occasional "hell yeah penis" post. I have a sideblog for hornyposting, although visit it with care as it can be very distressing to a lot of people due to it being gore centered. @bleeding-aorta
If I'm on your dni and you interact/follow me first I'm going to ignore it. I'm still open to chill with people who have different stances.
Stances:
- anti TERF, anti TIRF, anti radfem, anti bioessentialism
- pro democracy, pro european union, anti facist, anti tankie
- "narcissistic abuse" isn't a real thing and just reinforces ableism
- Transandrophobia exists
- pro mpec lesbians and gays + contradictory labels, radinclus
- professional transmed/truscum hater
- anti radqueer, anti transid
- pro para anti contact paraphile
- pro fiction. Don't harass people over what they consume in fiction. Thought crimes are not a thing and you don't automatically endorse in reality what you enjoy in fiction. Antis are free to interact but do behave please. I have horrible experiences with your group (including being sent death and rape threats).
- fuck off if you follow/support/reblog from heritageposts, brendanicus or lesbianchemicalplant. I won't tolerate tankies, NK apologists or antisemities.
- neutral on Zionism
- pro Jewish self-determination
- If you identify with the term "Asperger's" I am very likely to block you.
- attacking people for creating Harry Potter fanworks isn't helping anyone. Don't give money to JKR, enjoy your fanfic and ships. I still like reading Snarry fanfic despite not engaging with the source material anymore.
Wiccans are on thin ice.
My stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict is quite clear: Palestinians deserve their own independent state, homeland and the atrocities need to stop. Netanyahu and his Likud party is a colonizing piece of shit that needs to go. Hamas are terrorists, not "freedom fighters" and are utterly despicable. If you support Hamas in any way, shape or form stay the fuck away from me. October 7th happened and this atrocity from Hamas must not be denied. I believe in a two-state solution, as Israel deserves to exist. Jews and Palestinians are indigenous to the Levant and not a single one deserves to be hounded out of their homes. If you're ignorant about the history of Judea, Arab colonialism and the creation of Palestine by the Romans you should shut up and educate yourself. Zionism is a complicated ideology with a complicated history and I do not trust Zionist or anti-Zionist goyim. My stance on Zionism is a deeply personal thing. The atrocities and needless killing of human beings need to stop, no matter what "side" they're on. This makes me both Pro Palestine and Pro Israel. People aren't their governments. Everyone deserves to live together in peace.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
somehow I need to write words before typing the number 55 because otherwise this very functioning website fucks up the formatting
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
77,339
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Sad Cops The last ones were for Blind Ermittelt, Detective Anna, Endeavour and Polizeiruf Frankfurt.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
In Which Everybody Regrets Their Life Choices (Daredevil)
The Tale of the Beautiful Professor (Guardian)
Tee Mit Folgen (Tatort Berlin)
Adam, Vincent und die Eule (Polizeiruf Frankfurt)
A Sickbed Visitor (Society of Gentlemen)
OK, technically there's another Daredevil Fic on 2, but it's a collection of shorter fills for a prompt meme so does that count?
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes. I try to respond to all but occasionally fall in the "Oh yeah I will do that later" trap where I...y'know...don't do it.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I had a whole paragraph here, about how I don't usually write Angst and wanted to name a few sort-of-angsty ones, and then I remembered, that I did in fact write Never To Be Told which is very angsty.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
A lot, but Look Not Into My Eyes has a veeeery sappy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
None yet
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Well, if you equate "crazy" with "nobody but me wrote it" then it's my Ein Fall For Zwei/Tatort Saarbrücken Crossover. But honestly: a crossover between two crime shows that feature abusive dads whose heads make sudden contact with blunt instruments and the resulting fallout from that is not particularly crazy. I also have this idea for a Blind Ermittelt/Allmen one, but as it's so often the case that's all vibes, no plot so far.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I once wanted to, and we even discussed some plot ideas, but then I got ghosted
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Yeah, Niko/Alex caught me like few others, but I also always will have a soft spot for Till/Felix
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Currently, I'm having a really hard time with my Alex & Sophie pre-canon fic, because it requires writing Alex shortly after the attack, and I am not sure if I can do that.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm quite good at character-voices, both in dialogue and when internal-monologuing
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Getting from one scene to the next. Also in dialogues the right amount of surrounding description. I tend to start off with a screenplay, and then turn it into character says one sentence, followed by three paragraphs of description.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I hate it. Either your POV character understands what is said, and then you can tell the audience what is being said, or they don't, and then you just write "they were talking in XY." Don't make me use Google Translate to understand your fic. And don't make me read phrases like heiße schokolade mit gepeitschter creme, because your foreign language knowledge also comes from Google Translate. (That is an example from an actually published book, but my feelings on that transcend the fanfic/pubfic barrier, and I also read enough bullshit in fanfic).
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter. As in write-write. I don't think I ever wrote down any of the Sailor Moon self insert I made up.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Hmm I wrote A Sickbed Visitor with me as the target audience in mind, and considering that, I am quite happy that it also ended up being reasonably popular. Because this is the fanfiction for a romance series that doesn't feature one of the main couples but the friendship between two halves of different couples. (Yeah. Having fun writing something is nice. Validation is also nice)
And Es Wird Wieder ein Sommer is well...it's not the same, because it is an Alex/Niko fic, and I always meant it to be one, but it's also about Laura and her relationship with those two and that was lots of fun to think about and write.
No pressure tag for @cricrithings and @tatzelwyrm

Welcome to the 4th Johnica Week! I can't believe it's already the fourth edition and I'm so happy to have still lots of talented artists and writers joining the event and keeping the fandom alive by contributing (also) to the growth of this wonderful couple 🥰💕💕💕
When is the event? 📆
This year's Johnica Week will be a bit shorter, only four days, in order to keep entries more collected, avoid burnout for those faithful creators who want to challenge themselves and join everyday, and for everyone who loves to read fics but has less time on their hands. The event will start on Sunday 15th January and end on Wednesday 18th January, aka John and Veronica's 48th wedding anniversary!
Where? 🔎
Here on Tumblr, on AO3 and also on Instagram for visual artists!
💚 Use the tag #JohnicaWeek2023 in your entries here and on Instagram!
📚 > Here will be the AO3 COLLECTION where to post your fics! <
💚 Tag @eileen-crys and/or @johnica-weeks in your works so I can read, see and share them!
📚 At the end of the event I’ll make a Tumblr masterlist with all the works!
2020 Masterlist | 2021 Masterlist | 2022 Masterlist
The Theme 📚
You’ve read it right, this year Johnica Week has a theme, linked to the 46th wedding anniversary, that is BOOKS. Like all the prompts, it’s up to you to follow the theme or not, consider it just as a general theme that you could build your entries around. I chose some prompts that might fit this theme, that are about books as physical objects or as idea for an alternative worldbuilding.
How? 🖼
You're encouraged to join with your preferred creative media or challenge yourself with something new! Fanfictions, drawings, comics, poetry, collages and photo edits, moodboards, anything you like! More in the RULES below.
Tumblr media
Like all Ship Weeks, this is a fandom event to share love and creativity related to a particular couple, so be sure to engage with the entries and support all the artists and writers that chose to join! Reblog, leave likes/kudos and comment on the artworks to keep the fandom alive! 💜💖💕💜💖💕
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These prompts are simply suggestions for the event, you can choose one, mix them together, follow them or not, be creative with the prompts or do something completely different! That’s up to you 😊 For each day I chose a situation that revolves around books, an undergoing theme, a literary genre and a type of Alternative Universe you can choose among.
💚 Day 1 - Sunday 15th
SITUATION: Transported from real life to a book’s world and living an adventure there/meeting the main characters. (Suggestions: Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc.) Note: not as an AU, but more on the idea of "real John and Veronica live an adventure in a book" as themselves.
THEME: Having fun together
GENRE: Action
AU: Superheroes/Superpowers (“Superheroes with Superproblems” comic book, Fantasy or Sci-Fi, Dystopian, Fantasy, Cyberpunk, etc.)
💚 Day 2 - Monday 16th
SITUATION: Misplaced/stolen book.
THEME: Math VS Poetry
GENRE: Horror/mystery
AU: Noir/Detective story (Victorian, Modern Crime Scene, Serial Killer, Futuristic, etc.)
💚 Day 3 - Tuesday 17th
SITUATION: Finding/reading a book for the other one or for the kids.
THEME: Long distance
GENRE: Fairytale
AU: Historical Fiction (Royalty, 1920s, Arranged Marriage, World War, Ancient Greece, etc)

So please be considered about your entries and comments and always try to be respectful to John, to Veronica, to their family and friends, to the people who ship them or ship other couples and to your audience.

Tumblr media
HOW to post? 🤔
You can post your entries here on Tumblr, on AO3 and on Instagram, using the hashtag #JohnicaWeek2022 and tagging me.
If you prefer, you can post anonymously on AO3, HERE is an easy guide on how to do it!
If you’re on Tumblr and want to post a fic anonymously please send me a DM and I’ll post it on @johnica-weeks on your behalf, crediting it as Anonymous author!
🔥 TAG your work APPROPRIATELY! This includes all potential triggers and smut. On Tumblr you can include the appropriate warnings at the top of the fic followed by a "keep reading” cut (you can add it in desktop version AND on mobile by writing :readmore: in a new line!) Also be sure to tag the rating of your fic, the genre and the themes of your story, enough to help the readers!
✨ If you’re still unsure, HERE’s a useful guide on how to tag your works!
As a reader... 📖
If you’re a fan of John, of Johnica or simply like to read fanfictions, positive interactions are always much welcomed! Support the authors by leaving likes, a comment (even a little one!) and sharing their work. On AO3 you don’t need an account to leave Kudos and Comments! (Unless the author has willingly prevented guests to comment). To leave a comment on AO3 you simply have to choose a temporary mail and set your email to get a notification for an eventual reply.
If a work is not tagged appropriately, you can reach out to me via DM and I’ll warn the author. If anything makes you uncomfortable, simply close the work! Do not engage by leaving nasty comments or messaging the author!
🔥 IMPORTANT!!! 🔥
During the event, if any of you/your entries gets hateful comments or messages towards you, your entries, the Johnica ship, the event or other creators, please DELETE the hateful comment/message right away with no interactions and let me know! This is no place for haters, just for creativity and love.
If you see a hateful comment on other works do not engage, instead leave a positive comment to the same work and support the author! 💜
Realistic or not, remember that fanfictions are, by definition, FICTIONAL and not meant to be a documentary! There are lots of things we don’t know about John and Veronica’s private lives and don’t want to go in too deeply, gossip or speculate about them, so feel free to fly with your fantasy and let your creativity flow! 😊💖 Most of all… have fun, respect each other and support each other’s works!
If you have any question feel free to send me an ask or a DM!

Fic Tag Game!
I was tagged by @veloursdor, @mischievouschan4, and @lilredghost. Y'all probably forgot but I DID NOT. I've just been sad and mopey because I'm working when it's dark out with the time change and it's pitch black by the time I'm home, so I haven't gotten anything done!
How many works do you have on a03?
Ten
2. What’s your ao3 word count?
118,260!!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently just Star Wars! And I don’t foresee that changing. When I first got into fanfic I wrote for Bleach, Final Fantasy VII (oh my god there were song fics, what the fuck), Harry Potter, Marvel Cinematic Universe (I had forgotten about that completely. Hopefully I forget again), and The Hobbit.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Hey this feels like a war crime, actually. They’re all obikin except the first.
Lady of the Rocks, with 1,125 kudos… my Hobbit fic that hasn’t been touched in like 6 years.
Bitter Honey (BEE FIC, BEE FIC, BEE FIC!! Sits at 447 right now)
Anakin Skywalker, Witch (420, nice)
Living with the Present (402)
Tapio (128)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! Although frequently very late. I got bad about it this summer because this summer sucked, emotionally. But I love it when authors respond to my comments so, as hard as it is for me to believe, I imagine that people enjoy when I respond to their comments and try my best to do it.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don’t think any of them have an angsty ending. One of the Harry Potter fics was going to though. LOL.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Anakin Skywalker, Witch.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope!
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes… mostly pretty vanilla right now I think. I need to expand my writing comfort bubble.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven’t written any. Used to read a ton though.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, not to my knowledge.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. It’s stressful enough trying to match my own writing voice haha.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Obikin, definitely!
15. What’s a WIP you’d like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
My hobbit fic. I still get comment occasionally asking if I’ll finish it. My big thing with that fic was world-building and I’ve lost a lot of what I had. I WANT to work on it for the people that still enjoy it though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’d say probably dialogue, because I feel like I edit that the least, and world-building.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
….actually writing the words down RIP. Also comma usage.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I avoid it, generally. I read too many fantasy books and fics back in the day where you had to flip to the glossary at the end of the book/bottom of the page for translations and it gets annoying, especially if there’s a multiple characters speaking.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Omg I had to look up my old ff.net account to check this. It was Bleach.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
I want to immediately say Anakin Skywalker, Witch. It’s my first obikin fic, my first fanfic after a long hiatus. I’ve put so much work and research into it. But Tapio has a vibe that I really enjoy, and has managed to inspire that vibe in readers so… dark horse winner is Tapio.
Bonus: What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
Probably that damn Hobbit fic. I didn’t have an editor back then so I shudder to think about what the comma situation is there.
I feel like I've seen most people do this game already! So I'm not going to tag anyone, but if you see this and have not been tagged yet/want to do it... this is me, tagging you.

Idea for a fanfic. This could be of any fandom. The fic takes place in a world that has something significantly different from our world. (Ie-. Pokemon, LOTR, DC, MARVEL, ect.) And it's a fandom that the fanfic author is a real nerd about so they know a bunch of details about the story and interworking of the world and characters.
Then enters our MC. MC could be a self insert/YN/OC does not matter, but they are originally from our world and universe. Then they somehow get transported(or my personal favorite, reborn) into the fandoms world. The catch??? They are not a fan of the media that they are now a part of. Here's my example of what spurred this idea.
MC is reborn, they remembered dying then they were trapped for a while in a tight room and they feel different from before. One day it's too tight and they break free! Only to discover they are some weird bird monster thing they don't recognize??? and now they're stuck in the nest while growing up??? When they finally learn how to fly they're ecstatic at finally being able to see the world and any of the creatures outside because they haven't seen anything other than their mother and maybe siblings since hatching. They spread their wings and are doing dips and dives and are so happy to finally be rid of the nest and- is that a fucking Jiggly Puff??????!!!!!
Turns out they're like a Ho-Oh or something and what they know of Pokemon is only the base random tidbits from existing on the internet and hearing people talk about it at school. Now they have to deal with random cults, gangs, and scientists going after them because they're super rare and practically a god or something! Bonus if they decide to be like some random quite kids Pokemon who has no interest in fighting, or some sweet old lady who's only other Pokemon is a Magikarp who keeps almost drowning??? despite being a literal fish???? and now they're attached to the old lady and don't want her to be heartbroken about this dumbass fish that won't fish properly?????
But this could be for any fandom at any point in that fandoms time! They could be any character! Imagine them as Harry Potter but they haven't watched the movies much less read the books! Maybe when they were like 12, but they were 48 when they died!!! and that was a lifetime ago and now they have to deal with Voldemort and the Dursleys??? Horcrux?? There was something about a Sword or Gryffindor?? Was that one of them?????
Or ending up in DC comics and deciding they want to fight crime so who better than Batman to train them!? Nevermind how I know your secret identity Bruce! Whos this guy? Your son Damian? I thought his name was Dick? Where's Batgirl? What do you mean which one????
Bonus points if they're actually a convincing liar and most of the freakouts are in their heads where we get a front row seat to the panic and pure "fake it till you make it" attitude with small povs of other characters thinking to themselves about how "it's so amazing this 7year old is so competent!"
Or the exact opposite, where they were a full adult who just got spat out in this new universe and everyone around them is like "What do you mean you didn't know Aliens were real?? Superman literally just saved you last week? What do you mean what does that have to do with Aliens?? Superman is an Alien!!!! How did you not know this?????
IDK, but tag me/lmk if anyone goes anywhere with this because I love this idea of someone having just random tidbits of mixed (and sometimes wildly inaccurate) information from their previous life/world about this new world and the story lines in it!

Snow Globe
The blue confetti water stains the wooden floor of his room.
The broken shards of the dome are beside him on the floor. He traces his thumb over the miniature castle of the globe. He has left a trace behind. A trace that shouldn’t exist. But he can’t bring himself to erase this,  “Draco?”
“I would ruin myself for you, you know?” Draco whispers and his voice breaks in the end. He is beyond ruined. But he would ruin himself more. Because he can’t erase it.
Harry shuts the door behind him and sits down beside Draco, “Is that a snow globe?”
Draco wonders if he should lie.
But Harry would see right through him. He always does, “It was for you, I left it on the shelf but it broke.”
“Draco,” Harry rests finger beneath his chin and raises his head up and his heart breaks in such a violent way that he begins to wonder if Harry could’ve heard it, “what’s wrong?”
Draco is caught in those emerald green eyes. So soft. So worried. So beautiful. It breaks his heart even more so, “What are we doing, Harry? I’m your secret and it’s breaking me."
Harry bows his head, "You're not a secret."
"You're a bad liar, Harry."
He buries his face in his hands, "No, it's that I'm not a good liar when it's you that I have to lie to."
"Oh, fuck you."
“Why did you bring that snow globe?”
“It was your Christmas gift, you said you’ve never had one before.”
It elicits a smile out of Harry, a delicate and secret smile that is reserved for him, “A castle with blue lights and snow?”
Harry had said that on a drunken night that if there was a gift he had wanted, it was a snow globe with that castle and it was there that Draco decided what his Christmas gift would be, “You remembered?”
“Yeah, I remembered.”
Harry rests his head on Draco’s shoulder and holds that broken snow globe between the both of them, “Why did you want to leave this on the shelf, Draco?”
“Because we’re a secret, aren’t we?” Draco speaks, a breath caught in the back of his throat, “I don’t exist for you, we’ve hidden this like it’s a crime, like it’s an illicit affair.”
“No, but you do exist for me, Draco.” Harry whispers and even when his voice is broken, he still says Draco’s name softly, “But I don’t want to ruin this and you’re not that naive to believe that there wouldn’t be a backlash to this, are you? Because this? Us? I don’t want to lose this.”
“You’ve ruined me beyond reason, what more do you want?”
“Draco.”
He didn't want to fall for more pretty lies.
He wants to believe them but that is all it will be. Lies. Dark, twisted lies.
Draco brushes off the tear that slides down his cheek and stands up, leaving the snow globe with Harry, “No, this is a lie. We’re built on a lie. But I still ruin myself for you and I don’t want to.”
“Don’t leave."
"I'm sorry, why shouldn't I leave?"
"I don't want to lose you. Please."
It should've been enough incentive for him to stay, for him to ruin himself a million little times, "No matter how desperately I want to believe you, it will all be lies and I've had enough."
will not blame you if you don't rb or leave a note cause this sucks, def not my best work😭😭😭 @phoebe-delia @chinike @thecornerofbelu @nv-md @missdrarrydawn @harryandginnydeservesbetter @draco-lucious-potter @textrovert-01 @dearly-devoted-dawdler @sorry-i-ship-drarry @inflation-of-mind @slytherinnbitch @drarryfeels @loves-to-read-fanfic

CFWC Writer of the Month - Inlocusmads
Tumblr media
Each month CFWC highlights one of our many talented fanfic writers and this month’s writer of the month is @inlocusmads! We hope you will enjoy learning more about her and her work below! Writer is selected at random. More info can be found on the navigation page.
BLOG: @inlocusmads
Quick Links: BLOG MASTERLIST
How do you want to be known on Tumblr? Just Mads is fine!
1- When did you start playing Choices? What's the first book you played?
I started playing Choices back in 2018-ish (??) after getting recommended by a friend to play Visual Novels. My first ever book was Most Wanted and from then on, set a pattern in me getting absolutely obsessed with action/adventure books. You can imagine my disappointment after I found out, 2-3 years later that MW 2 is cancelled.
2- When, and why, did you join Choices fandom?.
I joined the fandom officially in April/May of 2022. But I was familiar with a Choices “fandom” way back at the height of the pandemic. I just didn’t find the reason to join and chime in and just read meta discussions and commentary on Tumblr & Reddit. But after Crimes of Passion was Wide-Released, I was so invested that I had to join and write my fics. I was happy to know that I wasn’t the only one who found CoP so refreshing from the other books.
Back then, I was only interested in writing theory posts and reviews, but then the whole fanfiction obsession took over and I just went with writing it instead.
3- How did you pick your url name?
Inlocusmads is my Tumblr User. Locus is a mathematical term defining a set of points following some specific equation in geometry. I picked it because it translates to “In Mads’s territory/set of points” (in-locus-mads) AKA, my blog being a culmination of my works in one place.
4- Go back to your archive and tell us about the first post on your Choices blog.
My first post was an introduction one! (Link) And I remember being so enthusiastic like a kid on the first day of school. It still gives me that vibe. I even promised to write WTD (Wake the Dead) fanfiction, because WTD was finally wide-released, and people were talking about it. Back in May, I had my exams too, so I had absolutely no idea how I managed to juggle exams and fanfiction.
I do not recommend mixing academics with hobbies under any circumstances lmao. But it all worked out!
5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?
Since I was 6 years old. I know, crazy, but back then I remember our elementary school teacher reading us stories and I wanted to write one. So I picked up an Aesop’s Fables book and adapted a story from that on a piece of paper. I never knew it was called “fanfiction”. I just liked it!
My official “start” to writing proper fanfiction was in middle school, when I wrote a Harry Potter “Next Gen” AU spanning 40k words. Never finished it and it’s been 6 years since then.
6- What is your favorite Choices book to write about?
Crimes of Passion! It’s the one book I’ve written consistently about. Obviously I will expand to other books (Like ES, OH, WTD) in the near future, but currently, I operate from this home base, if that makes sense. Crimes is awesome!
7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it?
My first fic is no longer on Tumblr because I took it down. It was called Bulletproof, and I didn’t like various aspects of it, especially how I handled emotions (They’re definitely not my forte). I didn’t want it to be the first impression I give people. My second fic was Something Like Love (but isn’t), and it is so much better than the first thing I wrote! I would never change anything about it.
8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Trystan Thorne & The Holy Grail! It’s got everything I love- chaos, pointless action for a pointless reason, Nora facepalming for the 100th time, coffee drama and I remember staying up all night to watch multiple Monty Python skits to jazz up my humour-writing a bit. Of course, all the stuff I’ve written so far are some of my favourites, but this takes the cake!
9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be, but it could use a little more love?
It has to be my 2-part series on Nora’s Bisexuality - titled Nora’s College Stories (Angler On A Boat ||  Waiting For A Train). I was afraid that I’d not be impactful with my writing and pass it off in a humorous style, but I’m glad it didn’t turn out that way! I’m proud of the positive feedback it has received since then.
As for the stories that could use some love, fortunately, I’ve never had such an experience. I’m so grateful to have wonderful readers. It blows my mind when people reblog my work with memes, gifs, and “asasdfghj!!”. I don’t mind if a fic has 3 or 15 notes, as long as people who’ve read it enjoyed it enough to use a ton of heart emojis and memes. (Looking at you, Max! You’re the best!)
10- What is your specialty as a fanfic writer?
I would say it has to be action/adventure or something more adrenaline-y. Most of my works involve a sprinkle of simulated gore, a bit of dry humour and some peak self-deprecating jokes. I don’t have a proper style or speciality yet, but taking into account my past fics and my overall trend of writing things, it has to be something that’s thrilling to read and write.
Sometimes the thrill is executed poorly. Sometimes it radiates pure power and heaps of fun. I wouldn’t know if I didn’t write it down.
11- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
Ugh, this is hard! I would say out of these options, I’d write fluff. Fluff is comforting, like “oatmeal, which sustains you” (B99 reference!) and I think it is a fandom classic at this point- a norm in any community of writers. Fluff is also miscible and adaptable in any situation and there is no one way to write it; while angst and smut are both unidirectional, in my opinion.
12- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MC’s or in your writing?
I would say I don’t. Nora and Jane and my future MCs aren’t based on me, nor do I write them after my personality. But the one thing I did incorporate into my characters’ personalities has to be their love for novelty and adventure. I love some novelty in my life, and I hate mundane days. Nora expresses her love for that by taking on challenging cases, and Jane loves rapid change in her life to learn to let go of old wounds.
13- What element of writing do you struggle with most?
Emotion. Especially romance. Don’t rotten-tomato’ me-to-the-face just yet! I’m still getting the hang of writing romance besides incorporating it in action and treating it as a separate entity. As a hobbyist writer who wrote a lot of original works, I never really thought to include romance. It was just a lot of bantery friendship and casual mentions of romance. I do want to get better at it! But, of course, as usual, the journey can be quite difficult.
14- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?
Currently I have a now-untitled (but previously called “Dr Whodunnit”) project with a crossover featuring characters from OH and CoP. Most of you will most likely be familiar because I advertised it as my “biggest project yet!” and didn’t live up to it. Sorry, guys!
I took it down with the sole intention to improve the writing because I found it rushed and hasty in several places. I don’t want to give out a tentative date just yet, but it’ll most likely be revised in about a month or two : around August of 2022.
I love my readers so much and I want to give them my absolute best work possible.
15- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
Sure! I mean, none of my works are extremely explicit. I would be embarrassed because fanfiction-writing is usually frowned upon/heavily stigmatised, but I will recommend them to read anything that interests them. If they’re into romance, maybe A Second Chance and if they’re into friendships, I’d direct them to my general fics that only feature some good old teamwork!
16- Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?
Growing up, I read a lot of Neil Gaiman, Rick Riordan and Lemony Snicket and I loved their writing styles a lot. Recently I’ve taken a liking to screen-writers and producers (I know screenwriting ≠ actual writing) but it takes a lot more effort to translate written work to a full fledged production.
There’s Baran Bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the creators of Dark .The writers behind Brooklyn 99 and Parks & Rec. Erin Kelly and Chris Chibnall, writers of Broadchurch. I’ve always wanted to blend longform writing with exciting conceptual-style building-up and some of my favourite shows and the writers behind them have inspired a lot of my works.
Some of my favourite shows such as Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Gumball have such a fun and innovative way of expressing unique, chaotic ideas. I’ve always looked up to that!
17- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
Definitely my untitled-formerly-titled-project-named-”Dr Whodunnit”. I think it’d make up a fun crime TV show.
18- Do you write original stories?
I definitely have, in the past! I wrote a time-travelling story and I guess one about engineering humanoids. There was also a really, really old work of mine featuring dragons and young teens battling an evil Dark Lord. So yes, I do write original works, but at this point in time, I’ve taken some time off from them.
19 -  What other hobbies do you have?
I play a lot of online chess, read books and solve puzzles- be it Sudoku, crosswords, (even my very morbid obsession with Wordle) or solving a Rubik’s Cube. I’m also a tired student, so most of my time is either writing fics or catching up on academics. I also bike. The lockdown has clearly converted me into a couch potato, so I could definitely use some daily exercise.
20 - What’s your favorite emoji?
This one: 🐍 Nora’s birthday falls in January 1989, aka the Year of the Snake and I sometimes sprinkle it across my fics and headers so much that I got attached to it really quickly.
21: BONUS - tell us anything you’d like (if you want to).
A huge huge thank you to the team at CFWC for this wonderful opportunity! I absolutely love the initiative of conducting weekly events and bringing more fics into light. It’s so heartwarming to see a diverse pool of fic writers, and I’m very fortunate to interact with all of them.
Shoutout to Max from @pixelatedhayes (go check out Max’s art!), Lin from @ofmischiefandmedicine (Laura Levchenko for the win!), Kate from @quixoticdreamer16 (Incredibly supportive and such a shining gem to this fandom!) for being super supportive and tuning in to read my works and literally every other reader/creator/fanartist/fic-writer out there on Tumblr, contributing their part to the fandom.
If you’re there, I’m so happy and please keep doing what you love.
I’ve heard that the community has grown smaller since the early days and I’m glad that even though there are a few of us, we’re doing our part to support each other.
To quote Captain Holt and sum it up: “Every time someone steps up and says who they are, the world becomes a much more interesting place.” Thank you so much :) Hope you have an incredible day ahead!

For the Wolf + For the Throne
This is How You Lose the Time War
1984
The Fault In Our Stars
I read fanfic on AO3 about every day, it’s not often I read physical books
Looking at this list, the underlying theme for most of them is romance. I have a preference for fanfics because I can pick characters I already like and choose what I want to read. They have tags for anything and I can pick how long of a fic I wanna read. It’s just convenient and I can do it on my phone so I have reading content anywhere I go!
———
Manga:
Toilet Bound Hanako Kun (this is the only manga set I fully own)
Danganronpa (not just the manga but the game and show too, I love it!!)
Steel Ball Run
Jojolion
Bungo Stray Dogs
Vanitas No Carte
Blue Period
idk if this counts but I read bl manhwa (ex Pearl Boy, Painter of the Night)
I haven’t read a whole lot of manga. Most of what I’ve read has been online. I have a few manga from BSD Beast, Danganronpa, CSM, etc. The only manga I have loved with an absolute passion is TBHK. I am in love with the story and art style so I had set out to collect all the books! I recently just got the last one I needed for my set :)
———
Anime:
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Haikyuu
Bungo Stray Dogs
Chainsaw Man
Demon Slayer
Mob Psycho 100
Banana Fish
Cowboy Bebop
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K
Short Romance Animes give me LIFE (ex TONIKAWA, Horimiya, OHSHC, My Happy Marriage)
I have seen a lot of anime so it was very hard for me to not make this list longer. My all time favorite is JJBA. Honestly it has changed my life. It was the first anime I really got into and now everything is a jojo reference. Haikyuu, MP100, Saiki K and Cowboy Bebop are just easy shows to watch. They have good arcs and fun characters but don’t make we want to d!e (I’m looking at you JJK and CSM). Banana Fish is incredibly sad but I simply reject canon events and make my own truth. Actually I do this for just about every show with major character deaths lmao. All of my faves live, says me.
———
Movies:
The Twilight Saga
Anything featuring Steve Carell (esp Get Smart)
Howl’s Moving Castle
The Hunger Games series
The Star Wars Saga
Harry Potter (4th and 7th are my faves)
The Labyrinth
If you take nothing else away from this list, PLEASE watch The Labyrinth! Teenage me had absolute brain rot of David Bowie and his grey leggings (who approved that costume lmao). It is just so fantastical. I wanted to be the goblin queen SO BAD. Anyways, read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and then go see the movie next month!!!
———
TV Shows:
Criminal Minds
The Office
Pretty Little Liars
New Girl
Only Murders In The Building
Outer Banks
Any True Crime Shows
As far as shows go, I either love mindless comedy or crime shows. OMITB is a delightful mix of both.

I hope this answers your question!! Feel free to message me with any questions, suggestions or even just to chat :)

what IS your favorite fic? or maybe a rec list?
Undoubtedly the one fic I enjoy the most and will recommend to anyone that knows of the Fate series is: "Fragments of Chaldea" (just search it on AO3, should be the top result)
You want 100+ different Servants developing realistically over 120 chapters?
In total, the Fragments of Chaldea series (The main Fragments Series, the Lost Shards (concept chapters that arent finished) and supplemantary fics that are too big to be their own Fragments) has a total of 2,049,162 words.
That is more than Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings COMBINED. And FoC's quality never really drops. It just keeps getting better the further you read.
I know that 2 million words is just, a lot, but ALL of it is great character development for so many different characters that never feels like "that character would NEVER do that" no. It all feels real. It all feels like if these Servants lived at Chalea that this is how they would develop. GhostXavier nails down so many different personalities and makes it feel real.
My Snippets of Sirin Schariac's life is loosely inspired by Fragments. Maybe more in hindsight. Fragments are connected oneshots as all Fragments progress the story, but each chapter is like a oneshot focusing on one, sometimes more, Servant(s) at a time. One chapter we follow Jeanne d'arc, another we follow Artoria Pendragon, another Kiyohime, another Mashu, another Hyde and Jeckyl, another Scathach, another Mozart, and so on. But they all move the story forward.
Now, Fragments is more straight than my Snippets, it barely jumps back and forth in time, so it is (admittedly) far easier to follow than my Snippets. Basically just connected oneshots is the most borrowed idea from Fragments.
Now, given that, the tag list and character list for Fragments is HUGE, too much to list here. And it is a heavy AU setting - the surviving Chaldea staff is over 100 rather than the measly 20 in canon, plus theres a robotic staff. As they explain in the notes of chapter 1: "A humanity saving organization on such a tiny staff count is beyond absurd."
So, a basic understanding of Fate lore is needed to be able to comprehend Fragments of Chaldea, but if you want to REALLY enjoy it, you kind of need to play Fate/Grand Order and clear the first 7 Singularities, the 4 Epic of Remnant Singularities, and have started the Lostbelts. That's kinda far. But that is just for full enjoyment and attention to the changes. But if you know what Fate is, you can watch a summary explaination of FGO and enjoy Fragments plenty.
Sadly, due to burnout, Fragments technically ends at chapter 116. The last 4 chapters are overviews of the planned storyline that GhostXavier had for the future and Lostbelts.
But there is still enough for days of enjoment from Fragments of Chaldea
Now, I have some other fics that I really like, but I wont go into as much detail about them here because this post is already long enough.
There is Matters of the Heart by Vengfulfate, it's a RWBY fanfic where Ruby gets a heart injury and her father becomes overprotective, which results in her running away while still young, and she ends up growing up to be far more serious than she is in canon. It also gets rid of the worst parts of RWBY, being Cinder and Salem, writing them completely out of the story to focus on Ruby and her family drama.
There is also There Are No Thought Crimes (HI3 fanfic), which is a horny FuKiMei story with vampires. Its a fun and spicy read. Instead of Honkai there is vampires and a lot of horny vampire biting.

Fanfic Origin Story
I was tagged by @burntotears ❤️
What was your first fandom (reading and/or writing)?
Harry Potter and CHERUB (both in writing and reading)
What was the first story you ever wrote?
Technically the first story I ever wrote was for Foot2Rue, but it never got posted anywhere. The first thing I wrote that got posted anywhere was an orginal story loosely based on CHERUB.
What's a piece of advice you would give your younger fic writing self?
Stories don't have to be inherently romantic
What's an early fandom interaction that stuch with you (be it a nice comment, a friend you made, a fic that got a lot of fedback)?
When I was like 14 most of my irl friends dumped me from one day to the next. So I became really active on Wattpad, engaging in rp and commenting on fics to get the social interaction I wasn't really getting at school. After a few days, two other ppl started interacting with my rp too, and we rp'd together for about a year. One thing led to another, and we wrote a story togther, three years later we met up in real life. We don't talk as much nowadays, with everyone having gone their own ways, but these two ppl made me feel a lot less alone, and that's something I'll never forget
Post a sentence or two from an older fic and a sentence or two from a newer one (if you want)
I only started writing in English somewhat recently (2018 ish), so this fic is not the oldest stuff I've written (I'm also slowly continuing it 😂)
The House with Blue Shutters (Orginial Work)
Greenwood was a small village. It was very charming and everybody knew each other. This village had all the characteristics of a hamlet: there was a church, St Williams, a small market on Mondays and even Mrs Potts, an old lady who knew everything that happened in Greenwood. Evangeline Potts was a 71 year old retired teacher, who lived in a lovely house with a garden, just next to the market. She had a dog, Lucky, a brown French bulldog. You could always find Mrs Potts and her dog at the terrasse of the café, and on Mondays she would always be at the market, chatting to everybody who walked by. Lucky would often wander off between the stalls, looking for food, food that every seller would give him. Mrs Potts would always say “Lucky! Come back here! We have food at home.” and when he finally came, she would congratulate him: “That's a good boy.”
And one the most recent fics I've published, it's the best thing that I'll ever do (Roswell, New Mexico)
The television was on. Sheriff Taylor was talking. And all Isobel could focus on was the woman sitting besides her. Anatsa Mufaro. She was a journalist, and quite possibly the most interesting person Isobel had ever talked to. They started their conversation by raising their glasses to Max and the smart women in his life (who were the reason the man was alive to this day).  But then, they talked about everything and nothing all at once. They could have talked about Anatsa’s job, her report on the racial crimes in Roswell, and the new Sheriff, who was questionable at best. Or they could have talked about the alien stories around Roswell, a tourist simply asking questions to a local. They didn’t. Instead, they talked about music, travels, books, sports, movies, their favourite coffee order, and a recent art exhibition that Isobel had gone to recently, in Albuquerque, that Anatsa should totally check out.
The main difference between my old writing style and my current style is how I space out my paragraphs 😂
Tagging @infp-obsessing-over-everything, @beautifulcheat, @tasyfa, @maeglinthebold, @gritkitty ❤️
