Finished the book.
I have. Thoughts.
Particularly that Junko as a third person narrator....
Hm.
I have thoughts.
But do feel kind of good about both theories being relatively correct - that Mukuro was being Junko and also that sometimes Ryoko saw Junko separate from herself (this happens even in the end).
But the idea of Junko killing Ryoko - Ryoko being not necessarily the amnesiac her but the version of her who was attached to and in love with Matsuda - like obviously the book is showing the precursor to DR0 and how Junko ran a bunch of set up to pretest a bunch of what she planned to do prior to etc. But, for me, that's not what the story is about.
It's about Junko killing herself.
The part of herself that could have done something else. The part of herself that would have been happy (strong term for Junko, but it's still true) with Matsuda instead of. Doing everything else.
Killing the her who actually. cared about someone else. instead of just seeing everyone as pawns in a grand master plan.
(Also confirms my theory for death seeker Junko. Because she clearly would have enjoyed losing and brings up that she shouldn't plan in the future so that she's more likely to lose - which connects with my complaint with Ultimate Analyst Junko as we see her in the book not accurately predicting or knowing everything that would happen in DR1 - if she could do all of that with the events in DR0, including how Ryoko would act, then the events of DR1 should have been simple. She just actively DID NOT DO THAT so that SHE COULD LOSE. So that there would be the possibility that she might lose. Because she wanted the despair of losing! UGH JUNKO.)

Sometimes I wish we would start calling out the performative radicalism on this site for the poser bullshit it is. "Remember, it's always morally correct to kill a cop!" "Don't forget to firebomb your local government office!" "Wow, it sure would be a shame if these instructions on how to make a molotov cocktail got spread around!"
Okay. But you're not killing cops or firebombing government offices. You are posting on a dying microblogging website to a carefully-curated echo chamber that has radicalized itself into thinking that taking the absolute most extreme position on any subject is praxis but that anyone discussing the most practical way to effect actual change is your sworn enemy. You do not have the street cred OR the activist cred to be talking about killing cops, babe.

I hate how fandom has become "if you haven't created anything in this very specific time frame after the release of the show/movie, everyone will have moved on"
And call me old fashioned, but that's just not me. I sometimes take ages to create and publish. And I will love a show or movie for such a long time (years, babes, years) that I just can't relate to the fast consumerism that's going on.
Because, let's be real, it can get really lonely in a fandom if most have simply moved on to the next shiny thing. Is what's created less worth, just because it was created outside the hype? Why is it such a taboo for this new fandom generation to love an old or "late" fic or art?
It's so tiring and I'm too old for the 30-seconds-hype-tiktok-shit. Just tired. So, so tired.

An Explanation of Why You Should Cover Your Ass that Doesn't Involve the Wiccan Rule of Three
I've been a witch for 4 years now, but as stated in a previous post, I am not an authority over Witchcraft and neither are you. However, I am going to do what a lot of people in the community don't seem to fully grasp and that is to explain things to people in a way that doesn't make them feel like a dumbass.
So, most of us who have been in the community for a hot minute know that the Rule of Three is beyond hogwash. But that does not mean that you should throw all caution to the wind in spell crafting. It means you should be cautious, but not for that specific reason.
Witchcraft is a vastly versatile group of hoodlums with varying levels of expertise and areas of expertise. Let me set the stage...
This dumbass roommate that you have likes to go in peoples' rooms while they are at work. You forget to lock the door before you leave and this motherfucker stole your Twinkies.
You come home from a long day's work, see your Twinkies are missing, but you find this motherfucker drunk in the bathroom with various Twinkie wrappers around him. You decided to jinx him.
1. One scenario here is that you him, forget to do a protection spell and all's well that ends well. Because he stubs and breaks his toe.
2. The other scenario is that he's also a witch with some knowledge and has a protection spell that reverses the energy of the jinx to come back to you. But you didn't have a protection spell for yourself and now YOU have the broken toe.
With a protection spell, both could avoid it. This is also why protection spells are the first class in Witch 101.
Now say that you had a protection spell and so did he. You both would have your ass covered. But people not just on Tumblr, but on many many platforms with a witchy community either throw all caution to the wind or get after baby witches and don't give them reasons why. But this is one example of many.
Some people out in the wild don't require a lot to be exceptionally hostile towards someone and they could jinx, hex, or curse indiscriminately. Protection spells are good for that.
Also, in many of my cases because energy vampires latch onto me, they are good with protecting your energy.
Protection spells are also good for protecting you from the bad vibes of other people.
Point being, always cover your ass. You will be all the better for it.

Really fucked up actually that the "you are valid" culture which, usefulness and uh, validity thereof aside, was intended to provide some some perspective for people who may have been blamed for harmless things they could not control morphed into "if strangers on the internet do not constantly tell me I'm good and perfect they are the oppressor" and "even constructively and gently telling me that I hold some power and responsibility to seek a better situation is an unspeakably cruel act."
