It would be nice if Star Wars actually treated their "good" disabled characters as actual disabled characters.
We see a lot of "bad" disabled characters have viewable disabling disabilities (ex: the latest The Bad Batch episode featured a cane-user with a prosthetic arm. This man was a hoarder of resources, and quite greedy and self-serving. Disability=hoarding resources is a TERRIBLE thing for Star Wars to highlight, but there they just went. That's a whole post I can make on its own, but I digress.)
But there are so few times that Star Wars truly acknowledges its disabled characters' disability in a positive light. It is always swept under the rug and forgotten about. This is what we have for our disabled "good" characters:
Anakin's hand only ever has problems twice--both of which aren't even true issues. His hand just gets caught by magnets. That's it. Sure, one time a little spark went through it durring the Zillo Beast arc, but despite all other mechanical appliances dying and short-circuting, Anakin's mechanical prosthetic does NOT. They didn't want to show Anakin without the use of his hand. Oh and he's turned into the "bad" character when his disability becomes actually acknowledged. Facisit disabled person... how charming (sarcasm).
Luke's prosthetic hand also does not cause him any true issues--again, minor inconveniences.
Echo's prosthetics are not acknowledged, ever. They act as if Echo has two hands, and he's constantly seen holding stuff as if he has two hands. Sorry, but he can't balance a giant ass box on a scomp like that. He would have to compensate--move his arm so that it balances differently.
Tech does not need to be more than autistic-coded. It's not a requirement to label everything. However, he has only had issues with his autism once. That's a good first step! But it's just a first step. Not to mention, he's a whitewashed savant. This is the most blatant, frustrating autism stereotype. I've already made a post about this.
Kanan and Chirrut's blindness is perhaps the most visibly disabling disability in any of the shows; however, said blindness is magically compensated for by the Force. They both still struggles with many things, which is a good change of pace, but ultimatley, it's not the representation it's meant to be. And, for Kanan, it is CURED at the end, before he DIES. Chirrut ALSO dies. I think that speaks for itself.
Yes, they are still disabled. That is not in question. But it's repackaged in a 'non-disabling' sense. Because why show disability when everything can be magically fixed? Why show disabled characters having realistic issues with their disability when it could be disabled characters made palatable for an abled audience?
Yes, a good number of disabled people would like to be, for lack of a truly appropriate term, ""fixed"" (a whole different topic, though--and a huge one at that). I don't doubt many amputees would probably like the a prosthetic like Anakin's. And yes, it would be nice to be so easily and readily accepted as disabled people like they are in Star Wars.
However.
The continued treatment of disabled people as if they aren't disabled is a massive problem in today's, real-life world. Because we don't have that luxury of being treated as nicely. So as great as it is to dream of a life where we're accepted as normal, IT IS IMPORTANT TO VIEW THEIR DISABILITY AS NORMAL IN THE FIRST PLACE.
It is necessary to see openly disabled people being clearly disabled, while still being viewed as equal, "normal" people. When disability is only shown openly as disabling when it is for the greedy or the facists... that is ableist writing.
All I want is for a main character to be openly disabled, in a disabling way, rather than just magically fixed and unacknowledged. Disability representation can only go so far when it is just "hey, here's a disabled character." We need them to be acknowledged as disabled, too.

“accessibility isnt just about accommodate wheelchairs” objectively true but wish people include people making these posts didn’t treat “wheelchairs” (wheelchair users) as ultimate most accommodated for most accepted disability that gets everything & sometimes physical accessibility of wheelchair users need prioritized because without it we literally can’t get in building to participate before we even talk about what other accessibility others or yes even we (wheelchair users because yes we also have additional access needs we have comorbid conditions or our disability that make us wheelchair users have additional access needs or be wheelchair user inherent mean more access needs that we ourselves can’t care about unless we fucking get in building/place/etc where activity held first) need for activity itself. like wish people making these statements know wheelchair accessibility isn’t just is there ramp but it also about steepness also about road conditions about road slant about where furniture is about even minorest bump & curb & gap & that even just most basic things brain fog brain can think of right now but still more than 90% of people who careless use this phrase can think of for wheelchair access needs if they think really really hard.
“access needs more than wheelchair access needs” (even this better phrased than original give them more credit) objectively true but can we actually use that phrase correctly instead of to punch down at wheelchair users
because even saw take that’s like. “when talk about accessibility don’t mean wheelchair accessibility” w 10k notes. like no “just,” is straight up “don’t mean wheelchair accessibility” and like. don’t know how else to tell you

Hi! If I can be greedy, tell me about the "Jedi Fox" and the "A Fives thing" pretty please? :3
Of course you can be :D
Let's start with the Fives thing :
I had the thought a bit ago that kneeling is something very foreign to clones. They're soldiers. When they face a superior or want to show respect, they stand at attention, full height, back straight, chin hight. The only reason they would kneel in front of someone is to get at their level and help. (so their head is still held up anyway)
Except Fox. Because Fox kneels in front of Palpatine (even if not by choice).
So I want to write something about that. About the shock and horror of seeing a vod kneel like that. Enter ghost Fives, stuck to follow Fox around after his death, sick to see what happens in the Chancellor's office.
I don't know if it's going to evolve in something more than what it already is or stay of a sort of writing study (it might evolve tho, rereading it make the muse start poking their head again). But here have a snippet :
He couldn't look away from the small figure of Commander Fox. In the middle of the blood red carpet, head bowed, helmet at his feet, the highest decorated vod was kneeling, obediently, in front of the monster that was abusing him and his siblings. His posture was well practiced, well used like the rest of his body. His face was a frozen mask as if it could morph into a new helmet of flesh and bones instead of plastoid. His body stayed in that terrible position for the entirety of the meeting, not shaken even by his breathing.
And now Jedi Fox :D
I didn't write anything about it yet but ouh boi is it spinning in my head. I have so many ideas (it is going to be a series once I get going)
The thing is I desperately want to see more of Fox with a lightsaber. And Fox healing. And I still got my Fox and Mace friendship agenda going on. So I'm going to put all of this in the mixer and press the button :D
(the entire Jedi fox brainworms is kinda the fault of this amazing amazing series that did help me get an idea on how it could happen without disregarding neither the Jedi's culture nor the Vode's)
But the premise is this : fox is force sensitive but very good at shielding (albeit unconsciously) (you can't tell me anyone raised on freaking Kamino doesn't have good basic natural shielding, especially when you really need to hide what's going on in your head). Fox is also routinely tortured by the old raisin. One day, the torture gets too bad, he's too exhausted, everything is just too terrible. His shielding break and he unintentionally project very much all his pain, despear, "help please, make it stop", into the force. All of the people currently in the temple feels it. From there you got yourself a fix it.
But this would just be the start of it. It's going to be an AU about healing. There's going to be Padawan Fox and of course Mace is going to be his master. There's going to have Vokara Che because of course. There's going to have chronic pain and disabilities. There's going to have lots of shenanigans (I have my sights on something regarding Seagulls (stop it now) by Bad Lips reading (yes you've read it correctly, that song)). There's going to have Gar/guard feels. And of course a Badass Fox TM (with the badass Guard to go with it of course).
Yes all that just to see Fox getting both therapy (mental and physical here) and a lightsaber. As a treat.
Here you go ! Hope you like these two :D

Hi! I was wondering about your Lost Guardian au from ages ago, do you think you’ll ever plan on updating it and if not, could someone else take up the fic?
So heres the thing. If someone wants to write a fic *inspired* by The Lost Guardian, i’m not gonna stop them, and i’d probably feel super honored so long as the inspiration was correctly credited!
As for ‘taking up the fic,’ the short answer is no.
I have active drafts and the rest of the story already planned out to its finish, notes, even a branch-off fic set post-story that will likely go up on my nsfw blog if i ever get around to editing it. The Lost Guardian hasn’t been abandoned, it’s simply on hiatus. (And yes, i recognize 3 almost 4 years so far is a really fucking long hiatus. The Chapter 9 draft doc was made in december of 2020, and last edited in July 2022)
I started writing that fic whilst still in highschool, a time where I was 17 and didnt have to worry yet about getting my license or maintaining a part time job, i had an over abundance of freetime even partially to my detriment, the fandom was booming and I had plenty of feedback, and this fic was (and still *is*) a story im proud of.
But i’m 22 now, working a full time job to pay rent and account for a number of minor ‘disabilities’(best word i have for them atm) that I cant ignore or push to the side nor treat poorly, from the lasting effects on my body of stunted growth to celiac/glutent intolerance to adhere to that directly determines how easily my body functions for the week, to dealing with glasses i cannot afford to break and taking care of teeth i cannot afford to fix, taking care of my mental health and using the free time i have to do what brings me the most joy at that time.
The sanders sides fandom has heavily quieted down with the season finale hiatus and I’d like to think I did pretty well for going six long years dedicated solely to that without cracking under the silence, because *I knew* when I caved to something else it’d be a long while before I had the drive to come back with any sort of resolution to my active works. Thats just how my hyper fixations work. I cannot focus on multiple at once, it’s too much to process simultaneously and takes away my enjoyment bc I tend to watch/consume things repeatedly to catch every little detail i missed. And it doesn’t help when one loses steam because their content barely breaks 100 notes(80% of which are likes, 15% are reblogs with the occasional comment, and 5% are self-reblogs) when back in the height of it all, a few thousand notes was pretty average interaction. This blog still has about 11.5k followers, almost all of which came from the height of the fandom period. So for now i’ve moved onto the FNAF DCA fandom, bc it is fresh and new to me.
I know you didn’t mean to poke the bear here, I get it, but like.. C’mon. Any other fic of mine likely wouldn’t have gotten the same reaction in full but, still. I’ve had to answer this question a handful of times over the years at the point, which might be why this response feels so charged, and i’m sorry.
I don’t mean to come off as snippy or rude, but it *is* kind of invasive to offer to finish one’s creative work when it’s taking too long and theres very little payback for it. I’ve got adhd, delayed satisfaction isn’t a thing I experience. Just guilt that it wasn’t finished in a way for me to post it in time before I broke and lost all motivation to share it.
In my head, TLG has been long finished and held the ending for years, theres just been no energy to put in the effort of finish writing it for others to read. I’m still trying to get my life together to change that, don’t get me wrong, but the American economy is literally in shambles so who knows how or even if i’ll manage that. Call me selfish for being content with only mentally having my creative story’s ending and a collection of rambles and notes to show for it, but at the end of the day, it’s still my story, and i dont feel comfortable with people trying to ‘take up the mantle’ to finish it, when they don’t know how it ends.
I’m glad you like it enough to want to, though, I really *really* am. I’m just sorry I haven’t been able to finish it for you all. And i just don’t know when that will be, I just know that I *want* to do so, however long it takes.

So I was under the impression that we are all still masking cos we care about other people and don't want to get them (especially disabled / immunocompromised / etc) sick from our germs? But I was told masks don't protect the wearer from the virus? Or do they? The info kept changing over the last 2 years so I lost track.. I also heard it was ok to not wear a mask in open outdoor places cos of the aerial nature of the virus (allegedly the particles from our breath are so diluted(?) in the air that it doesn't matter(?)), is that still true? Thanks for your time
Hello! Thank you for reaching out to ask this! It's understandable if it's confusing because of the inconsistency of information that's been told to us by higher ups these past few years. I'll try to answer these chronologically and thoroughly:
Do masks protect the wearer from covid-19?
Yes, if worn correctly, masks are supposed to protect you, the wearer, and the people around you from catching anything you may have. The quality of the mask definitely is a big factor in this too. I went in depth about mask qualities in this ask.
Is it true that you don't have to worry about catching covid-19 outdoors?
No, this is because covid-19 is an airborne virus, and its variants are evolving to be more contagious. While an outdoor environment may provide more circulation to minimize the odds of catching covid-19, that doesn't mean it's 100% impossible to catch it outdoors, especially if you're in a crowded environment like a concert or protest. The likeliness of you not catching covid outdoors is moreso in situations where you're far away from other people. A comparison can be how you can still get secondhand smoke from someone outdoors, even if you're not that physically close to them; the harmful aerosols can still enter your body if you inhale them. Alternatively, the harmful aerosols can still linger in the air for hours even if the person smoking is no longer present.
To put this into perspective: at the time of me writing this, I'm taking an in-person summer course, and during my lunch break I choose to isolate myself somewhere I feel like there's less of a chance of me catching covid, such as sitting by myself in a nearby park as far away from other people as possible. I do this especially because every day 99% of the people I see are not masking anymore, so I treat everyone as though they have covid because I do not know where they've been & who they've interacted with.
Bottom line, masking outdoors is still necessary because covid's variants are getting better at being infectious & can still linger in the air (like the secondhand smoke example), and there's no way to know whether or not who you bump into outdoors may have covid or not, unless they explicitly told you. Either way, I don't see a point in risking it.
Here's a podcast episode from the Death Panel that goes into the misconception that covid-19 is non-transmissible outdoors. And this is a link to the transcript for that episode.
I hope this helped!

Not All Alcohols Are Created Equally
Herbal Remedies made with Ethanol or Ethyl (Drinking) Alcohol and Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol, are two very different types of remedies that are used for very different things / treatments in Herbal Medicine; see: Rubs or Liniments vs Tinctures.
Different chemical compounds are also soluble in different liquid substances- including different types of Alcohol available over the counter for use in Herbal Medicine. Which means that the same plant matter steeped different types of Alcohol will result in different effects based on what compounds were soluble to that solution; the same as if you were steeping in Water vs Vinegar, etc.
Perhaps most importantly, however: One is edible (Ethanol / Ethyl), and the other very much is not (Isopropyl). And that is incredibly important in determining the kind of remedy it is used to make and how to use that remedy appropriately.
It is absolutely imperative, then, that when you say "Alcohol" when listing ingredients necessary in order to make any kind of Herbal Remedy? That you not only understand the difference between these two different types of Alcohol ingredients ... But also that you know exactly which one is the right one for that specific Remedy. And that you specify or list the correct one.
This is doubly especially true if English is not your first language and you are writing instructions in English.
Tumblr media
ETA: All things are "Toxic" when misused or used incorrectly. It's literally the very first principle you learn when learning Herbalism. But if you have no actual training in Herbalism? Do try not to come onto a post written by someone with 15+ years of training and pompously tell them that "they're doing it wrong" because you don't have the understanding you need to know what's going on and how the things being spoken about actually work to create these remedies.
Because, no ... You are not correct in saying that Isopropyl Alcohol (a routine over the counter ingredient used in modern medicine by nearly everyone for wound disinfectant) is "too toxic and gets absorbed through the skin and so it's stupid to make a remedy out of it". Because yes, while it does get absorbed through the skin (that's the entire point of Rubs and Liniments), and is toxic (in large doses, or when ingested orally) ... What you are overall, as evident by the whole statement? Is clearly uneducated about how to make and use Rubs and Liniments correctly, how they're actually used and what conditions they're used to treat (especially compared to different Alcohol based remedies), and their mechanisms for action in the way they're used in Herbal Medicine.
It costs 0 dollars to do legitimate Herbal research before opening your mouth, or ask questions about things you're confused by or don't understand, rather than acting like a fool. If you decide to still act like a fool, your comments will be deleted without shame, because I have zero time or patience for Herbal misinformation. Thank you, and have a nice day.
This is based on research, in addition to 15+ years of experience as a Lay Herbalist. If you found this helpful or interesting, please consider Tipping or Leaving a Ko-Fi (being Disabled, even $1 helps); you can see my other "Original Content" here.

Look! AT! HIMMM!!!
this pattern is labeled 'sith frock coat' and i made it in about two weeks of incredibly late nights when i lived in new mexico that became very much like a fever dream. it was very ambitious for my skill level at the time--i think it was the first time i invested in nice fabric for my own clothes--and for the most part it came out very well. this pictures are a few years old but it still fits me decently well, so i may go back later and fix those things that didn't go well the first time
i biked as my main method of transportation at the time, and this was mainly made with that in mind. nm is a desert but it DOES rain, usually all at once, and i still had to be at work across town. also santa fe is up a mountain so it does get brisk, which is why i chose to use a wool herringbone (brisk yes, winter no. i lived there for 5 years and called the nov-feb months fall++ the whole time). this is why the back is higher than the front--i needed to keep my thighs dry--and the hood is large enough to fit over a bike helmet
it was made with a removable linen lining (not pictured) which turned out less well it terms of fit (tight in the shoulder) and also didnt quite do what i wanted, lining-wise. the slit my hands are resting in was made to access the pockets in the lining and are not actually pockets now--i'd like to add those
the idea of a fold back front skirt was better in theory than practice. i'd like to go in and fix it to be, well, fixed though i'll probably keep the snap tape down the front. or i may replace the snaps which are currently holding the fold back skirt with something more sturdy, like a zipper
overall it does great. like i said the hood fits over a bike helmet or any warm winter garment you could name and the wool herringbone, though not waterproof or treated i any way, does shed water and kept me 100% warm and 98% dry while i learned i was too disabled to hitchhike across iceland (thank fuck for public transit i'm jealous of europeans every day). i have great shoulder movement and even though it takes a moment to get it settled over other clothes, once on it's very comfortable. the black lining is a plainweave linen; the purple lining, inner tulle, and ribbons are synthetic but they don't typically touch my skin when i'm wearing this. where i am now, this is a great fall or spring jacket without the lining
this is the first pattern i ever flattened the princess seam on, and i'm very proud of how it turned out. if i recall correctly the base pattern was a vaguely steampunk costume coat pattern i got in the post-halloween stores. i used the pattern for the sleeves, bodice, and collar, though all were altered in some way, and drafted the hood and skirt myself

Maybe its bad on my part but im native, trans, bi, afab and disabled... Ill never get an actual diagnosis just because of one of those but all 5? No way and tbh... I dont think it'll do me any good other than give me another hurdle when it comes to getting gender affirming care or adopting or even getting treated like an adult. Me and my system are ok and i dont experience distress from my system enough to think i need psychological help.
Idk if i can handle some white ass cishet abled doctor walking up and saying i dont have it and gaslighting me.
I hope this dosent conceded cause thats not my intention but even though im anti-endo, i get their distrust in the medical system and why diagnosis is something many wont persue. 1 because many of them know the doctor will diagnosis them correctly(as having trauma or having something different) and 2 because american doctors are not a safe place like... Ever. If your not a cishet abled white man.
So, a lot to cover here.
I'm white, afab, trans, bi, with multiple partners. I was diagnosed at about 21, and I've been in and out of therapy ever since. I'm also Canadian. Getting diagnosed was the best thing to ever happen for me, and I have several friends with the same experience.
And several who had bad experiences.
My experience will not be everyone's.
I am not pushing for anyone to get diagnosed. Doing so is a personal choice, and a decision that should be made by you, and your therapist if you have one. There are many reasons someone might get diagnosed (access to resources and specific care, financial support, etc) and just as many reasons someone might not want to get diagnosed. You also don't need a diagnosis to get the help you need.
What I DO want to people to hear is: whatever decision you make, do it with the REAL facts.
If you're going to choose not to get diagnosed, don't do it based on bullshit you see or hear on the internet. I made a post several months ago about someone going around saying that a diagnosis will stop you from getting housing, a job, and being able to buy alcohol, of all things, as if you have to present your mental papers to the cashier.
None of those are true. Gender affirming care also can be still be given and received, with an added step of a psychiatric evaluation (which is mandatory in Canada anyways for everyone, regardless of mental health, so if you think about it, you're not really losing anything). You can still adopt and have a family. You can own a home and have a job.
If you take anything away from my blog, it should be this:
Know your rights, and know how to exercise them
There are assholes everywhere, I'm not denying that. There are people who will bend rules and laws and who will use personal information (like diagnoses) against you. I'm not blaming anyone who has had this happen to them, either, as if they should have preemptively known better. No, that's not it at all.
Being aware that it happens, though, know that you have rights-- you're protected by employment, privacy, and human rights laws (yes, even in America, I debunk more American myths than Canadian). You do not need to disclose for work, except for positions in the military, certain healthcare positions, and when working with vulnerable sectors, and even in those cases, not always, and it can't affect their decision to hire you. You don't need to disclose for housing. You don't need to tell anyone anything, and you shouldn't, unless you need reasonable accommodations, and once they have that information, it can't be used against you. Don't let them. Easier said than done, I know, I've let things slide myself that, looking back, I wish I hadn't. Sometimes it's just easier, even if it's not right.
Point is, when in doubt, question everything. Do your own research, find your own answers, look for sources, question facts you see that aren't cited.
When you make decisions for yourself, be certain you're making it for the right reasons, and with the right information.

I’ll be there for you (Yes, like the Friends theme) Chapter 4
Summary: After being in a coma for two years Vash wakes up, not being able to remember Anything that has happened since he was “a teenager”. How is he gonna adapt to living in a world so strange and unfamilliar? By preparing to move into a rehabilitation clinic (TriStamp timeline, post ep12)
Warnings: Vash being Vash, hospital setting (for now) Word count: ~2.4k Chapters: 1 2 3 5
This night Vash had another weird dream.
He met Nai in some weird dark place and there were dying Plants everywhere.
Nai was angry and yelling at Vash but he couldn't make out the words.
They were still teenagers in that dream. Or at least looking like teenagers.
Luida was also there and also yelling at Vash but she sounded pleading and anxious instead.
But before he could make any sense of this dream he woke up.
„It's okay to ask for help if you can't do this alone yet, you know?“
Karina is standing in front of a half naked and damp Vash and dries his hair with a towel. She has to stand on tip toes for this.
„It's embarrassing though. I should be able to take a shower alone.“
„It won't always be like this, just for a while. Soon you can do it alone again. You just have to get used to it with one hand. We have to hurry a bit now. The lady from the rehab place is coming soon.“
Vash wiggles himself out of Karina's grip and scuttles around to get all his clothes.
Someone is knocking on the door.
Oh no! She's already here? Karina motions at Vash to stay in the bathroom.
„You get dressed, I'll open the door.“
Vash is grateful Karina brought him a pair of sweatpants over from her older brother. Vash realised he wasn't able to close the belt on his regular pants alone after trying to get dressed for the first time the other day.
So sweatpants are much appreciated.
He hastily puts on his shirt and socks and hobbles out of the bathroom, still trying to pull his right sock up correctly.
There's a short round older lady standing in his room. She is carrying a stack of papers and a clipboard and smiles serenely at Vash.
„Hello, good morning. You must be Vash. I'm Mrs. Nielsen. I am here to talk about your plans after your hospital stay and if our place might be a good fit for you.“
Before Vash can answer Karina speaks up: „I know a small office where you can do your interview. I don't think there's enough space here for all the papers.“
„That would be wonderful.“
Five minutes later Vash is sitting in front of Mrs. Nielsen in a cramped office-like room with only a small window. The lights are a tad too bright for Vash's liking but what can you do.
At least there's enough space for that huge stack of papers that is now laid out in front of Vash.
„I know this looks imposing but most of these are information sheets that you can read at your leisure. You can read, right?“
There is no judgment in her voice.
Vash feels like even if he would say No he would not be treated any differently than normal.
But he can read so,
„Yeah, I can read.“
„That's good to know because that makes my job a lot easier. But not everyone of our clientele can so I figured I'd ask first. Everything that I will tell you now can also be found in these papers so if you can't remember everything at once that's fine. It's a lot of information after all.“
She shuffles the papers around and mumbles to herself.
„So where did I put the.. ah here.“
Mrs. Nielsen gathers a few sheets and hands them over to Vash.
„We will fill these out together later. If you do decide to come to us then we will go over the majority of this information again but you need information in the first place to decide, right?
So first of all, who am I and what do I do?
I am the head psychologist of the rehabilitation organisation called Dove's Wings. We do a whole lot of things but what is the most relevant to you is that we rehabilitate disabled people and help them to live as independently as possible. In contrast to a hospital we do not impose a time limit on our people. Everyone improves at a different rate and everyone's Best is different as well. You stay with us as long as you want. That can be one year or two or five or ten or forever. It is entirely up to you. Most of our current People are indeed with us for the majority of their lives already.
I don't know your exact diagnoses but from what I have gathered you will probably start in Phase 1 in the mental health group. I know you also need physical therapy but I think our mental health group will fit you better. They are all closer to your age overall, currently. Phase 1 means that you will be eased into everything. You don't have many responsibilities yet and it's on us to evaluate what we can do with you and for you and what won't work yet. You will get your own room and your own bathroom that you will need to keep clean. There will be others in the group with you and you will share a kitchen and a living room with them. You also have to keep your living space clean, together as a group. This phase usually lasts about 4 months. The switch to Phase 2 is fluid and not much changes except that you will notice that your daily schedule will fill up more. There will be more therapy, more sports, you will be asked if you want to join a club or two and there are more optional Duties for you. You will also start going to work in one of our workshops once or twice a week for a few hours. Yes, you will get paid for that. Many of our People stay in this phase for a year or longer. As with everything, it is totally fine if you don't advance further.
For Phase 3 you will actually have to move to a different building but it is right next door so you will have no issues meeting your friends still. You will have to move because in the first two phases there are more social workers and therapists around, even at night while from Phase 3 onward you won't encounter these very often unless in your therapy groups.
From then on your group will be left to your own devices mostly. You have to get up and ready and go to your work or therapy sessions on your own. Nobody will come and wake you up anymore. Once a week a social worker will come over and plan the grocery shopping with you and make a list of tasks of who does what but it is then up to you as a group to actually do these tasks.
Also, the frequency of work and therapy changes. You will then work the majority of the time and only have very few therapy groups left. This means that the stress and workload on you increases but you will also get more money. And by that time you will be more than ready to tackle this.
I won't explain the other two phases to you because this already is enough information and actually most of our People are in this phase and stay there. Living with others ist understandably more fun and easier than living alone, after all.
Any questions yet?“
That really was a whole lot of information.
Vash can only stare and blink.
Work. He hasn't worked before. Or maybe he has but there's no way he would know.
Doing household chores, keeping things clean.
On the ship Luida helped him with keeping his room tidy but he didn't had much stuff to begin with. Sometimes he helped in the kitchen and Rem also taught him and Nai how to cook a few things when they were even younger.
„I... uh...“ he starts and trails off again.
Mrs. Nielsen smiles and just nods at him.
„It's okay, take your time.“
„I can't do many Adult Things. I can't remember how to do them. I mean.. household things. I don't think I've ever been in a Store before.“
Mrs. Nielsen just nods again.
„Your case is a bit special but it's well within our capabilities to deal with. Just as anyone else we will teach you how to do these things. You're not going to be the only one not knowing how to use a vacuum cleaner or where to find things in a store. For other reasons than most of our People but don't let that discourage you. Would you mind if we go over some of your personal information really quick?“
Personal information? Oh no.
Vash knows Nothing.
„We wrote down that you don't know your family name. Considering your circumstances that is alright. If you haven't remembered it by the time you enroll with us we can put in a temporary one until you do.“
Mrs. Nielsen smiles widely at Vash.
„A once in a lifetime opportunity to choose your own family name.“
Vash has a vague idea which name he could choose if he really doesn't remember his own anymore. But he isn't completely sure about it yet.
„Let's move on. So we have two numbers on the paper here for how old you are. I think for simplicity's sake you wanna go with 28? We know you're a Plant but that has absolutely no influence on the treatment so it's more or less unnecessary information. Do you know your birthday?“
„July 21st... Do I want to know my actual age...?“
Mrs. Nielsen looks at Vash in surprise.
„Oh? You don't know? Hmm.. what do you think how old you are?“
„Uhm....“ To be honest, Vash has no idea.
He looks up to the ceiling, as if the answer would be there. Then he looks down at the table. He knows he grew very fast in his first years so who knows if 28 years have actually passed for his body yet. Or he's already ancient. Both seem equally plausible to him.
„Five million years.“
Mrs. Nielsen starts laughing heartily.
„Maybe you feel like that but you're a bit younger than that. Reminds me of one of our residents. He also keeps saying his body feels like hes 500 already. Do you want to know your actual age? If not then we can wait until you're a bit more stable.“
Vash nods.
„I want to know. It's gonna be scary no matter whether someone tells me now or later.“
„Okay. It's October so you already had your birthday this year. That would make you 153 years old.“
Silence.
The five million years would've been preferable, honestly. At least that would be a number Vash only has a vague grasp on.
So he has lost about 145 years worth of experience and memories. How many friends did he make in that time? How many people died before him? Did he have a family? They surely also died before him then. Man, that is Sad. Did he have a kid maybe? Was it still alive or did he have to witness his own child die before he does? How much time has He left? Is someone waiting for him? Seriously, did he have a family and are they still alive? When did Luida and Brad and everyone on the ship die or are they somehow still alive? The cryosleep things still worked, after all.
Vash lets out a sniffle.
„I don't even know if I had a family...“
His voice is cracking.
Mrs. Nielsen hastily gets up and walks over to Vash's seat and puts her hands on his shoulders.
„150 years are indeed a very long time. That means you have been here from the very beginning.“
Her voice is quiet and soothing.
Vash doesn't even want to think about that.
Mrs. Nielsen continues.
„It is true that you have seemingly lost a lot of time. But you are still young. The majority is still ahead of you. You have so much time to remember everything that happened. So much time to learn new things, meet new people, make new friends... Endless possibilities. Memories will come in time.“
The interview took almost two and a half hours.
Vash had his lunch delivered right after, Spaghetti and meatballs, which he basically inhaled.
Mrs. Nielsen had left him a few questionaires for him to fill out.
Of course he also still had his information sheets.
Vash was already very sure that he wanted to go there.
So after meeting Christine again in the small hospital gym this time (they just practised throwing and catching a ball one-handed and did some stretching) he was now going through all of the information he got.
He is currently looking at some photos of the place that he also got.
The rooms are looking pretty big, but smaller than his hospital room.
The bathrooms seem to be decently sized as well and have nice large windows with blinds on them.
Judging by the pictures is looks like its a whole street by itself.
There is also a picture of a cat. Maybe a mascot?
A mental image appears in Vash's head.
Of himself lying in a reclining chair outside somewhere with a fluffy small black cat sleeping in his lap.
Did he have a cat? Was that his cat?
Must be nice having a pet, for sure.
„Huh... interesting.“ Vash mumbles.
„Seems like I'm a cat person.“
Okay time to move on to all this information he got.
Two pamphlets about the workshop he can work in. Seems like theres several departments to work at. Even a car wash, huh.
„And of course we can always arrange internships in the city for you“, the pamphlet states.
Whatever an internship is.
A huge stack of pages clipped together are basically exactly what Mrs. Nielsen told him earlier so he puts them aside for now.
Another page is an „example schedule“ for how the average week will look like for him in the beginning.
Breakfast is at 8am then theres a morning assembly each day. Then theres a block called „chores/kitchen“. Then free time. Then lunch. Then something called „Therapy block A“ and a footnote on the bottom of the page asks Vash to refer to The Therapy Booklet to find more information about which therapies belong to which block.
Then some kind of sports. More therapy. Free time. There are apparently three different therapy blocks.
Why is there so much stuff?
Vash's head is already spinning.
And there's Even More pages.
Vash pushes them away from himself.
„No. No more. I can fit no more information in my head.“

Okay, glass divine. Before I get to any of the motivations, I just want to talk about the Deathlings a little bit. I didn't really talk about the actual football last time, but I love who you can just tell they are a very inclusive little society. Which is to be expected when most of not all of them have prosthetics which can be disabling at times. It’s also kinda fun to see Wilbur figure the prostetics out by observing and ot’s a nice way to let us know without having to force the characters into revealing it themselves.
Anyway, I just love all their rules for making it fair and how they stop to take breaks or have people sit out and there’s no fuss around it. It makes me very happy to see. Also, if I understand the interaction correctly, then Tubbo has hearing aids. Like that’a what Techno was asking and why he used hand gestures. Is there and actual sign language or did they make up some signs themselves? Anyway, it makes sense that Tubbo’s ears would be fucked since he has an explosion scare on his face.
There’s also the fact that a lot of the Deathlinhs seem to have had near-death experiences which involved losing a limb or take. Ranboo the worst of all. It’s interesting to see how normal it is to them vs. how Wilbur reacts to and interacts with it. He doesn’t treat it as if it’s that abnormal, but he still can’t look at Ranboo because the idea of what happened to him makes him sick. And even if he doesn’t really want to or take pleasure out of it, he still abuses Tommy’s bad lungs to try and escape.
(1/?)
-🌲
oh thank you!! yes I wanted to provide more descriptions for who had what prosthetics, and I realized that when they were playing football I could add little details here and there showing exactly that. also, I wanted to emphasize that while the cybernetic prosthetics are extremely advanced, it's still a prosthetic limb. it's never going to be a perfect replacement. so yeah, sometimes people need to take breaks, and they're all fine with that.
and you're right, tubbo has hearing aids! sign language still exists in the world of glass, so yeah, the Deathlings just use the standard sign language for their country. tubbo's hearing aids will be touched on a bit later in the story, but most of the Deathlings at least know bits and pieces of sign for tubbo. only tommy, ranboo, and aimsey are fluent though. tubbo tends to turn his hearing aids off later in the evenings because leaving them on for too long gives him a headache, and sometimes it's nice to have everything be just a bit more quiet. that's why techno asked if he had them on, because it was late at night so he wasn't sure if he'd turned them back on or not.
ok so note: a lot of the injuries the Deathlings sustained wouldn't typically lead to a loss of a limb, but you gotta consider the context. the Deathlings are an illegal terrorist group living underneath the city. if they get hurt, they can't just go to a hospital to get fixed up. Ponk is the only doctor they have. say someone were to severely break their leg in several places. with access to a full hospital including a full surgical staff and tools, that person probably wouldn't lose their leg because the staff would be able to piece it all back together. now consider that same break when your hospital is literally just one dude living in an underground temple without access to things like x-rays, MRIs, etc. it's gonna be a lot harder to piece that bone back together. but the Deathlings DO have a master engineer who can create a fully functioning prosthetic limb. so the solution is pretty obvious.
of course, a lot of the injuries the Deathlings received that led to their cybernetics happened before they joined the group, but yeah I just wanted to give that explanation
the thing is, cybernetics are fairly common in the lower districts in general and not just with the Deathlings. of course, prosthetics like what they have aren't very common because of how high quality sam's workmanship is (he could make so much money if he wasn't part of a death cult), but cybernetics are often considered a 'cheaper' solution to injuries that will cause long-term health issues. so it's really just wilbur not interacting with anyone that's not rich for the past 10+ years that's caused him to be so startled by all of this.

🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)? 🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities? 🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc's neutral/questionable traits?
OC Details / Accepting
🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level
Tumblr media
Temperance mostly prefers singing to playing instruments, but as his predecessors were very musically inclined, he has at a minor familiarity with a range of instruments, mostly and particularly stringed instruments.
Ones he's personally practiced with to bring him up to a more advanced level are lutes, lyres, and harps. He hasn't touched more modern instruments as of yet but he'd probably learn them pretty quick.
🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?
Well, mental disabilities is hard to say. Severe trauma is a for sure. Some form of social anxiety maybe? His mannerisms could also be taken as autism, perhaps?
I'd rather not make claims I can't confidently back up though, even if I myself have those last two.
Physical though! There are a few oddities to his body as a result of the "evolutions" his incarnations have been going through. Nothing obvious externally. Internally, whatever counts as his organs are misplaced in some regards.
For instance, his heart, or whatever counts as it, is literally in the wrong place. It's not on the left side of his chest. A fact that constantly throws people off who go for his vitals, and why he has such a massive cluster of scars in that area but is still kicking.
🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc's neutral/questionable traits?
Tumblr media
First! His honesty. Yes, most consider such a thing a good thing. Whatever he tells you, especially anything good, you can know for a fact he means it, 100%. He doesn't give empty flattery.
However the flipside to it, when he doesn't have something good to say, is why he grates on his siblings. He will berate you for your excess. Lecture you when your behavior is doing more harm than good. He will point out your failings and will not sugar coat it.
The only thing that brings it back up is that it's not coming from a place of malice, most of the time.
If you're sensitive to that though, best you can hope is that he decides keeping it to himself is more beneficial to the situation. Which, to the relief of some, is something that happens more often these days.
Second! His cautiousness and, by extension, restraint. Temperance is a careful planner, he will not rush into situations heedlessly or without some consideration. He also can hold back to quite an extent. Words. Actions. Attacks. It's all carefully measured all the way to execution. If he doesn't want you dead, he will not kill you.
However, this can cause situations where things get worse because of a lack of decisiveness and impulse. Sometimes it is better to bust right in the front door ASAP, rather than take time scouting. And his restraint can sometimes be a mistake. Sometimes you have to speak your mind when you think you shouldn't. Sometimes sparing someone causes more problems than it solves.
Third! His self-reliance and self-sufficiency. Temperance has spent centuries training himself to be this way, able to handle any situation on his own. You can be assured that if you leave him to handle foes alone that he can handle himself.
However...This lone wolf attitude causes him to place little consideration in help from others, total strangers or not. He treats others as mere associates whose goals merely align at the moment, or expects that any help he receives is merely a bargaining chip for a favor to be returned.
He very, very rarely asks for help, even when he absolutely needs it.
While this caution does make him correctly take information and help with a grain of salt, there ARE people in this world who have ulterior motives after all, this arm's length treatment of others makes him very, very few real friends.

Why I think Fires might have approved of the Hittites; there was a documentary I saw a while back that focused on a large number of clay tablets found in the ruins of their capital and going by the contents Hittite society was incredibly controlling and oppressive and treated its people like parts of a machine that had better work correctly or else. Of course, Iron might've liked them too since they were really good at metallurgy and warfare and probably didn't have much romance in them.
You sound like someone who loves history. I love history, too. Often times, real history is more bizarre and exciting than fiction. Making connections to the past and understanding how we got to where we are today are essential skills for any good citizen of the world. I spent a long time thinking about how to answer this ask, and I genuinely hope this does not come off as dismissive because that is not my intention. I hope this encourages a deeper love of history. That aside, here's what I have to say.
I want you to remember that ancient cultures were real people that had nuance. Oppression is always a terrible thing no matter when or where it happens, yes, but we can't make generalizations about every person in a civilization, nor can we ascribe modern views/identities onto them. Militaristic cultures still were full of regular people who built houses and played games and raised children and did everything that people do, their borders full of as diverse an array of people as one would find in any country today. Acknowledging the Hittites were skilled iron workers is one thing, but implying they didn't have much romance because of records we have about their political organization is a stretch too far.
Furthermore, the source you use to learn about ancient cultures, especially non-western cultures, is of great importance. A documentary can be an excellent tool for learning, especially for someone such as myself who struggles with reading because of disability, but it's important to remember that it may not always be the most reliable source of information.
I don't have any materials to recommend if you are into learning more about the Hitties, but I wish you luck in finding more information. It's so much fun when you have a topic you want to research, really feels like solving a grand puzzle. There's a wealth of free ebooks online if you know where to look. Project Gutenberg comes to mind first, or if you have access to a public library, they can help you access databases for free. (Just ignore me sitting over here with my dozen of unread PDFs)
Now if you want to talk about an oppressive, work-or-die regime, we can talk about current day neoliberalism and megacorporations, but that's besides your point

I have bad hearing, it’s like my brain wont capture every word someone says or it didn’t capture them correctly. I am completely functional, just some areas are lacking a bit. Throw in someone who speaks fast, uses words I don’t understand, has an accent, or a speech impairment and I’m doomed in that conversation. I know it’s frustrating for others and sometimes I can become upset because they are upset and frustrated with me, and it’s this situation where no one is wrong or right, just something that both parties deal with. Which I don’t expect anyone to deal with me and people have that choice to be in my life or not. It’s just not fair when someone stays but only to treat you bad. Yes, I’m aware of it and I’ve let others aware of it, but still people will get upset with me and treat me bad. I had experiences with a person knowing this about me and when I didn’t hear them or understand what they said, they would get angry with me and sometimes lash out at me, even when I told them I didn’t hear them. People don’t know that I’m frustrated too, and I’m also embarrassed. I don’t enjoy not hearing or understanding people, it makes me feel less capable as a person.
I work with disabled people, so I understand the frustration that comes with dealing with other’s impairments, but more so I understand that it’s not their fault and something they have to live with, and I’ve grown to be a more patient and empathetic person because of them. Personally, I find it a bit cruel of a person to get upset at someone who isn’t as fortunate as them. I’m so sorry that their impairment causes you to repeat yourself or have to walk slower, it must be very hard for you. I can’t imagine what you have to go through because of their impairment.

Your Neurodivergence Isn't The Issue- Nor Is It An Excuse
Honestly this kind of nonsense annoys me- especially as a disabled and neurodiverget person myself; we often get used as an excuse by everyone (both within our own group, and by outsiders) as the example for basically every excuse under the sun, and as I get older, I get more tired of it.
But the part of posts and complaints like these that specifically annoy me the most, however? Are expressed mentalities like this one in particular:
The problem is in the exact opposite of what I ended up doing for myself: pressure to do it the “usual” way or the way you are told. if you put a book in front of me and told me I HAVE to read the entire thing before even thinking about moving onto worship, I don’t think I’d ever be able to do it. I certainly would take much longer than neurotypical people trying to do the task. my brain wouldn’t be able to handle it, so I’d give up.
The problem isn’t anything said here at all. The problem is that, when we (as a whole; as teachers, educators, and even bystanders) tell people to “go research” ... Y'all, for some strange reason, seem to automatically translate that as “you have to do all the research and know everything there is to possibly know before you're allowed to start anything” ... When that’s never even remotely been the case at all. Ever. Under any circumstances.
Not only has it never been the case just as a default? No one who has ever said “go research” has ever even remotely implied or merely suggested that has ever been the case. Though certainly, some of us may occasionally mention the fact that it is important to have a solid foundational understanding of certain specific topics before committing to specific actions or practices. But only for the sake of safety in those specific areas- and only because those specific areas are more prone to harm or danger to the practitioner; this does not and has never applied to everything, however. And it takes exactly one minute amount of common sense to understand that.
In fact, all of our Elders have blatantly said the complete opposite of this, numerous times over. A fact which would be well known if anyone would actually read a legitimate book and pay attention to its contents in any minute amount. Heck, even the most seasoned “stick up their ass” kind of Reconstructionists who have long been actively stereotyped for being too hardassed about “proper research first” (as I well know, being a prior Recon myself) will themselves openly tell you that the vast majority of the time? All they even do is treat their own books like references for use as needed; that not even they often read a book from cover to cover, let alone follow it exactly as instructed.
But, like... No... Actual, proper research isn’t easy. It is going to be hard; regardless of whether you're Reconstructionist, Revivalist, or Reimaginist? Any amount of research is inherently a process which takes time, energy, resources, focus, and a number of other things to do correctly. And if you have ADHD, or Autism, cognitive dysfunction, or some other issue- or even a combination of issues (hello! I am here! I am included in this!)? Then Yes! It is inherently going to be harder for you to do. You are naturally going to have to spend more time and energy than a neurotypical person finagling out a system that works for you in order to accomplish it!
But whether you're neuroatypical or just neurotypical- able or disabled- there’s still no short cuts to doing it ... Especially not if you ultimately want that information to be good and accurate. And that’s true regardless of your ability or status. It's not going to change just because you're crying about it.
And if you do want that information to be good and accurate? Then yes, there is a certain series of protocols that you should follow in terms of how to do research the right way; a way that does get you accurate, up to date information from reputable sources, with long source trains that can provide appropriate jumping-off points to lead you through to additional sources which can help further your research. And there is a certain series of protocols to follow in order to further verify the efficacy and accuracy of the information you've obtained. And yeah, it’s annoyingly time consuming.
Again: Neuroatypical or typical- able or disabled- there’s literally no easy way to get proper and accurate information. That’s true regardless of your ability or status, and it's not going to change just because you're crying about it.
Yet despite the fact that these various protocols do exist to some extent? There is also no “usual way” to do research in any capacity; there is no "standard pace" that you have to follow. There is no specific amount of knowledge that you’re “supposed to know”- especially not “before you're allowed to do x or y or z” thing; there is no point at which you are definitively “ready” or “know enough” or "have mastered” a subject.
In fact, the second you think you have mastered anything or figured anything out to its best extent? You have either greatly deluded yourself, or you very quickly realize you actually know nothing at all. There's even a joke about this phenomenon. It’s literally called the Dunning-Kruger Effect and it's well documented.
Shoving urgency, strict instructions, and the “right way” onto beginners, even with the best intentions, may be the reason that beginner drops consideration of practicing. especially if that beginner has a disability you are probably unaware of. this also is inflexible and can make neurodiverget or disabled pagans feel pressured to follow abled / neurotypical methods and practices.
As said earlier: Literally no one is doing this. No one. Not a single person. Not a soul ... The blatant reality is that this mythical “usual way to research” and invisible standard is entirely made up by you in your own mind. It doesn’t actually exist- and it never has. It's etirely fictional in all capacities.
When we say “go research”? That means, and has never meant anything more than, exactly what is being said: “Go research”; it means (as one minuscule example) “if you’re not sure how to do offerings, then go look at some basic sources within the specific system you’re interested in, which discuss offerings and various things related to them”. That's it. There is no hidden meaning or additional subtext to it.
In other words: Literally go research. Pick a topic, go look at things, read some stuff about it, and take some notes until you feel like you have at least some kind of a basic cohesive understanding of the information you've read. End of.
That is literally what "researching" a topic consists of. That is all that research is. And no one else around you is doing anything differently than you. Nor can we; it is actively impossible for us to, because that is the entire process of research in a very hypercondensed and oversimplified nutshell.
Now if you ask someone where to start, however? We can sometimes hand you books and various bits of information as a starting place in order to help you out ... But the onus is still on you, as an individual, to do the research for yourself; we can answer questions once you’ve read things, and try to help you better understand what you’ve read. But we can’t read the material for you. We can’t force it to stick in your brain, or force your understanding of it. You must still put in the effort and energy yourselves instead of relying on people to spoon feed you everything, or working off the back of others.
You have got to stop using neurodivergency as an excuse, and blaming other people for your own self created research paralysis that you've caused entirely on your own- and then calling it “abelism” because you don’t want to put in the work.
No one else is responsible for your research paralysis and laziness in this area but you. And you will only ever be the person responsible for it- and the only person capable of solving it for yourself.

Will Hearing Aids Help With Balance? How It Works
Tumblr media
Congenital disability or old age can cause your hearing to decline. A loss of bodily function can cause many problems and changes in your life.
So hearing aids were born to help you partly solve this hearing problem. But will hearing aids help with balance? Let's find out in the following article with TheAudioCritic!
Will Hearing Aids Help With Balance?
Tumblr media
Can the aids help your balance?
Yes. This device can improve connectivity and auditory interaction significantly. So, it is easy to enhance the balance of the hearing impaired.
Balance is a natural function, so many people do not pay too much attention and care for it until they feel an abnormality.
There are many different consequences when there are signs of deterioration in body functions and audition in particular.
Some symptoms can be challenging to hear at first and off-balance. Worse, you may be in a state of memory loss, depression, or excessive anxiety.
Hearing aids effectively help you maintain your listening and reduce the harmful effects of related diseases.
When you feel signs of audition loss, you can go to specialized hospitals to check and ask your doctor's advice about using audition aids.
Even if your audition function declines and you still hear but show signs of loss of poise, you should also seek this method.
How People Hear Something
Tumblr media
How People Hear Something
Audition is a natural human function and can be heard by almost anyone. That's why many people forget how this function works.
Every sound in life will have a different frequency, but humans can hear not all frequencies.
Sound waves within a specific range from the environment will travel into the ear canal, leading to the eardrum. Here, the sound meets the eardrum, creating a vibration that causes the fluid in the ear to move.
This movement will create electrical impulses that stimulate the related auditory nerves, signaling the brain to interpret it as sound. One such process is how humans listen to the sounds around them.
How People Balance
Many people think poise will require bones and joints and mainly the body. But actually, the brain will control and help you become more balanced.
One of the factors affecting the brain that we cannot ignore is listening.
The ear has many complex parts, such as the cochlea, bones, tissues, and canals.
The ear is not completely dry but contains fluid in some parts to help respond to movement. This mechanism of action can activate cells in the ear canal.
Each part represents a different body movement that can help you poise. For example, vertical and horizontal directions are controlled by other components.
FAQs
Can Loss Of Hearing Cause Balance Problems?
Hearing loss can cause you a lot of poise problems. The body parts such as smell, sight, or audition need to function correctly to ensure poise.
While one of these factors is impaired, the other functions or needs to be exerted more than usual.
The available order becomes disrupted and can throw you off balance, especially in the early days when you haven't adjusted.
Can Hearing Aids Reduce Vertigo?
Use a hearing aid to help with the audition so it can function correctly. Then you will have the same feeling as the original, see everything happening around and the other parts do not have to work too hard.
So your balance will become more straightforward and more familiar. Then the dizziness will decrease gradually, from which audition aids can reduce vertigo.
Why Do I Feel Off-Balance But Not Dizzy?
Everyone is different, and you may be one of the few who don't experience dizziness. To avoid this feeling, it may be because you have practiced sports or training exercises that improve your poise.
Causes of imbalance can be drug abuse, infection, or injury. So you should go for a checkup and use reasonable measures to treat your symptoms completely.
At What Age Does Balance Decline?
The human hearing will gradually age naturally and appear most clearly around the age of 40.
A lot of testing with different groups of people, and those over 40 years old will start to have problems.
The older you are, the more pronounced the signs of aging and the more you need to care and take care of your audition.
Conclusion
The ear not only helps you hear the beautiful sounds in life but also has the task of helping you to keep your poise. Studies show that humans use sound as a landmark to maintain poise.
So, if there is a problem with the sound perception process, it will make the whole body unsafe. You might be challenged to walk or stand upright.
If you are suspecting or directly experiencing a change in your hearing, schedule a test immediately before things get worse.

@guiltscorched said: chuuya has purchased . . . dog treats. many of them, with which to earn siúcra's favour. but he figured he should run them by scarlet first, just in case. "an' don't gimme any funny looks. i just happen to be a dog person, alright?"
Given the nature of Scarlet’s job, it was rare to see Siúcra at headquarters, it was often unsafe and would only draw more attention to the doll-like mafioso.  Never did she dare to bring the pup with her on dangerous missions; she would rather face the brunt of her disabilities on her own than bring him into CROSSFIRE.  Plus, when he reaches a fully grown adult, he large, fluffy white dog that resembled a polar bear more than a canine would draw too much attention.  It would be safest to only bring him places where the artist could pass as a normal citizen. Today, however, was a relatively peaceful shift, one filled with paperwork and the simple delivery to a front business or two; activities that looked totally INNOCENT to the unaware passerby.  As such, it was a perfect day to get some more dynamic training outside of her doctors’ offices, which Scarlet was sure to get permission from her superior prior.
She did not expect, however, to see said superior meet her in the hall way, almost FLUSTERED with the amount of treats he brought.  Siúcra promptly maneuvered to sit at the front of Scarlet’s feet, putting distance between Chuuya and his owner, while keeping his eyes trained on her with a prideful tail wag.  After promptly giving him a treat of her own for performing this task correctly, the tiniest hint of a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth despite being ordered not to, she could not help it.

❝ I appreciate you asking for permission, far too many people seem to forget he is medical equipment and fail to treat him as such.  When working, it is imperative to keep distractions to a minimum.  Trat him like a mobility aid when on the job - it is frowned upon to touch someone’s wheelchair or walking cane without permission, for example.  That being said, so long as you are not distracting when working, yes.  He is still in training, and treats are an important learning device, thus feeding him during work may be confusing to him while he is in the midst of performing tasks - walking alongside me is quite the important one for various reasons, ❞  Guiding, avoiding obstacles, alerting to dizzy spells, bracing falls should she be unable to sit before the dizzy spell takes hold, among other things.  ❝ Allow me to sit down at my desk and you may give him some.  Additionally, whenever he is not wearing his vest, he is taking a break and is given this time to act as a normal dog; you are free to pet, play, and feed him treats during these breaks.  Although I ask you not to feed him too many; I do not want to risk upsetting his stomach - he is still a puppy, after all.  When he is fully grown, he will be quite big, so upsetting his stomach will not be as big of an issue.  If you are unsure at any given moment when it is a good time to interact, do not be afraid to ask.  As my executive, the two of you will certainly be around one another often.  I want the both of you to be comfortable together. ❞
