Au where Logan Patton and Janus are formally taught mages/magic users who learned from a young age to use ingredients, rituals, and spells to cast magic. Aka magic normies if u will

And Roman and Remus are informally taught mages/magic users who learned from a young age that their magic can be wild and trained but never fully contained. They cast with a constantly changing array of resources and are the kind of spellcasters that rarely ever cast magic spell the exact same way twice, regardless of the fact that it works regardless. Aka magic cowboys/hillbillies, if you will.

And then there's Virgil. The (begrudging) Chosen One. Bestowed with great magical power at like age 16.

One problem, Virgil was a normal kid before this, so. He's got No Training. At All. Somehow, This doesn't seem to interfere with just. Fucking casting magic at will. What are special casting ingredients? What are special spells? "What do you mean you can't just normally block a fire attack at will?? I have?? It's easy?? Your pulling my leg right Logan???" "I cannot express to you how much I am not even close to lying to you about that, Virgil."

Aka Virgils magic is close to broken levels of OP and his actual weaknesses involve teenage angst, spite, and hubris. The powers that be told him to go save the world, and he hunkered down in a bathtub, fully clothed, flipped the world the bird, and said "no." And. The powers that be cant actually revoke his powers now. Whoops.

The others are just glad to befriend this grumpy lump of shadowy teenage destruction with little pushback. (Virgil is a food motivated cat. No I will not elaborate.)

i've been debating tumblr alternatives lately, though i intend to stay here until the site literally closes.

pillowfort: i made 3 accounts a few years ago and barely touched them. aside from the very low activity and seemingly unsustainable business model, my main issue is the lack of sideblog functionality. inclusion of this feature would likely be years down the line (if the site even still exists at that point) since it's such a low priority for the average user. i don't have much else to say since there's just not enough content for me to engage with.

cohost: still waiting to fully explore this once my account is activated. it has low activity and an equally unsustainable business model, but it DOES have sideblogs ("pages"), it's optimized as a PWA, and it seems to have more promise overall. i don't like the complete lack of metrics but i can respect the philosophy behind that design decision. i'm more concerned about the community guidelines which seem weirdly vague and easily misinterpreted.

mastodon: i've been on there for a while now. my main account's timeline is pretty active, but my horror and ST accounts don't have much to engage with. overall, it's MUCH more sustainable while remaining ad- and algorithm-free by default, has SO many app choices, fosters community-building, promotes open-source software, and actually has some activity.

unfortunately, in my experience, the whole defederation thing often involves incomprehensible conflicts b/w admins that sever connections between completely innocent users who were unfortunate enough to pick the wrong instance. to make matters worse, if you sign up for the wrong instance, you're not immediately aware of any potential defederation--you're just cut off from part of mastodon as if it doesn't exist.

imo, this is the element of mastodon that is the most likely to prevent it from ever thriving, even more than the confusion about needing to pick an instance. "i'd like to stay connected to my friends on here and see all the cool stuff that people have posted on here" shouldn't seem like a pipe dream. the roadmap does include the ability to notify the user whenever a connection is broken through defederation, which would hopefully encourage more thoughtful choices by admins in the future, but idk if that will actually go through.

it's a shame, because i thought the defederation aspect was really appealing at first. however, that was when i assumed it was used as a last-resort only in extreme circumstances.

So I just finished my trial work day at a writing job for advertising. In the process of talking to my instructor, I mention that I like to write shortform things, and, in a blaze of genius, I say: "You know what drabbles are?" and she goes "Yes, I know." I try my best to stay normal and just add "Yeah, I really like the challenge of telling a story in exactly 100 words." but internally I'm screaming. I keep it cool, we keep talking, she knows Ao3. She's also a drabble and ficlet kinda person. She also admires people who can write longfic. HER LONGEST FANFIC IS 150K.

I don't know if you all understand me, but I NEED THIS JOB. I have found my people. At lunch, we all complained about missing/forgetting about the Steam summer sale. I need you ALL to come together for me and manifest me getting this job. Whatever Gods you believe in, whatever energy you bring to this endeavor, I will gladly take it. Idk if I'm the only one who didn't know (I don't really see anyone talking about it), but apparently Ivan orchestrated the Dog Alien incident??

Like, bestie, I have so many questions- What was the goal here? Was he trying to pull a Luka and get rid of Mizi? (I hope not ;-;) Was he friends with Till at this time?

It's scary how many similarities he shares with Luka, they both have selfish, messed up ways of showing their love and trying to get their person to notice them. However, I do believe Ivan is at least a bit more ''human'' than Luka in some ways. I'm excited to see if we get to learn more about Luka's past (could he have come from a lab of some sort?) and hopefully we get to see a confrontation with him and Hyuna.

Let’s talk about pre-canon alien stage and aliens:

Mizi’s owners/family seem to treat mizi well,even crying when saying their goodbye and filling her container with toys and other materials,she doesn’t seem sad nor abused.

Sua’s owners however,treat her poorly emotionally and physically,despite the frilly white dress,almost like a pretty doll brought from a store,she seems apathetic,hollow and downright empty,not moving in her container at all.

[The moment when sua’s owner roughly and harshly takes her head to guide her to the container,while Mizi’s owner gently “pats”(?) her head and mizi follows the alien to her own container as well.]

Till doesnt even have an owner in pre-canon,having been muzzled and sold with 50% free sale,probably due to his chaotic and “feral” nature. Now with his harsh treatment for his temper and actions,experiments/injuries are no surprises,but its Also interesting to point out that in the newest video,after he is taken down for beating up the alien after seeing mizi’s file,he is still being pet on his head/hair like a dog/animal,while hallucinating teenager(?) mizi

Luka’s owners,just like all of the alien society,treat him with good food and pretty clothes,he doesnt seem to be abused,but he also doesnt seem to like it at all, although that may have only happened //after// he won the first ALNST competition,they probably arent on good terms and only see luka as a fascinating toy and an entertainment and these conditions are still the same in his adulthood.

Ivan,however,seem to be treated horribly in his early childhood[looking at the newest video]

[moment when muzzled till and clearly wounded,abused ivan meet each other’s’ eyes]

But,seems to be treated well in his adolescence,[round 3]with good food,roof under his bed and clothes. Maybe that happened after he became top 3 and his conditions were improved.But its clear that he doesnt have the best ownder ever who genuinely likes him.

Both sua and ivan seem to regain a “sparkle” in their eyes[metophorically and physically] after meeting mizi and ivan respectively.

I have not rewatched all of the video nor do i have vivinos’ patreon ,so feel free to poin out some other facts from the videos/comicses,

But I swear it's better bc at least ur an adult and the horrors are the taxes u pay to experience the world however the fuck u can I think. I fucking hope.

woke up to my friend telling me I should check out Alien Stage, and I said “oh that's trending on Tumblr, sure I'll check it out while I have my coffee” not knowing it's roughly twenty minutes of tragic, queer love stories, great music, and fucked-up personalities set in a Hunger Games-style singing competition with aliens, and yeah. I am now crying about all the characters and picking apart the lore and moving songs to my playlists. and I haven't even had my coffee yet.
