To socialise or not to socialise, that is the question.

#Looked at two places I could move out to & they are complete opposite vibes in terms of socialableness #Both have roommates ofc but one gives me a lot more of my own space & it seems like I would barely have to interact with them at all #So I'd be left pretty much completely alone. Which is usually the dream #And ngl knowing the other people there would keep to themselves & have no interest in knowing me is especially relieving #Given the whole thing that pushed me to move out in the first place #The other has extremely small & cozy vibes. Owner's stuff all over the place #By cozy I do mean cluttered #The girl I met with there (not the person I'd be renting from) gave me a tour for five-ten mins #And then the next 30 mins-60 mins we spent chatting over tea #Someone more sociable than me might call it instant bestie vibes #Which. Has been something I've kind of very much been missing/yearning for irl I will admit #& from the sound of it the person subletting has the same vibes with her #She says he's 'interesting' and 'I'd like him' #From the combination of her description and the clutter I'm getting eccentric professor vibes #Which is generally a good vibe to me #But I am even more skittish of renting from someone t #Too sociable #After prev landlord #Though I want to trust othet tenant's vibe check. Because it might actually be very nice to have some kind of real life friends #It's also a very different kind of sociable than prev landlord #She was 'chatty and gets you to open up easily' sociable & it sounds like the other guy will be approximately the same #& also 'repeatedly assures you can ask her to stop if she's being too much' sociable. Which is always a relief #Meanwhile prev landlord was 'wants to know why you're not relaxed & tells you you should be without doing anything to help you be' sociable #'gets very pushy about finding time to talk/hang out' sociable #'teases you for being awkward' sociable #None of which were the real issue with him of course. But they didn't help & I can't help but see them as red flags in retrospect #I'm currently leaning towards 'to socialise' because it was a very cosy vibe & I do feel starved of irl friendship just a bit #But it could either be very good or very bad #& I don't want to risk very bad again #Anyway. This has been missives from a pizza shop I ducked into to charge my phone before I go back to being lost in a snowstorm

But I think it could have gone a bit further in places. #It has some interesting concepts and a great cast of characters and yay no romance #I do have a lot of thoughts and little critiques... #it's p obvious where the plot is going and what's going to happen #There’s clearly a lot gone into developing this bond system but to be honest I still don’t entirely get it? #It seems to emphasise that the bonds just reflect connections between people rather than predetermine anything; but also the plot kind of #hinges on Remy and Idrian having a predetermined bond? There are a lot of explanations of intricacies but a lot of it didn’t sink in idk #It’s promoted as QP but to me it reads as a general platonic relationship. I generally expect a depiction of a QPR to have like.. #some form of acknowledgement/depiction of the form of their relationship being a particular (undefinable?) kind #with some specific level of commitment? I’m being picky maybe they mean queerplatonic themes/vibes rather than saying it’s a qpr #specifically. the centred platonic relationship is good! it doesn't seem like a qpr to me; at most what could one day be that #also things are solved quite quickly and easily in the end - both the curse and the downfall of the bad guy. #I feared it would go down the route of blaming things on the person in charge rather than emphasising systemic issues which it kinda does…. #It’s impossible to ignore right now just how deeply people are willing to believe dehumanising propaganda - and how 'telling the truth' #and exposing the person in power as bad doesn’t actually do anything so that happening here made me go…… oh okay. well. #there is room for a sequel that maybe will explore this tho. idk #complaints aside - I do recommend this! i’ve fairly recently talked about how he defined the way kuukou moves in auxiliary media and how it brought to life how i envisioned he moved but it bears repeating hirono-san gave me everything and more lmao

like i still think about kuukou stalking up on some guy in track 3, twirling his mic and actually using it as a bludgeoning weapon with utter glee lol he’s so violent 💜

i love love love the feedback loop that quietly goes on behind the scenes with kuukou’s actors lmao

hirono-san mentioned in their cross talk that hayama-san’s 5th live performance was a frame of reference for the kuukou audition iirc, hayama-san a few years later during the 9th live imitated the way hirono-san used to bow as kuukou after nurusara’s division rep battle, and the bat actors took the bat seiyuu’s very cute 9th live blunder, missing their cue to introduce themselves in sync, and owned bat’s chaos by introducing themselves with their individual quirks in their rep live lol

lol during that cross talk, hirono-san mentioned he was endlessly amused by kuukou being tied up and angrily trying to talk in bat’s first drama track and i’m very happy he got to live it for himself after being tied up by dohifu in bat vs mtr lmao

and him stuffing like four marshmallows at once in his mouth, expecting to be able to continue being able to speak lmao

and him going so hard his rings flew off and an unplanned mini encore happened as he tried to look for them LOL

saw a report that they were going stoopid one day during their rep live run the crowd was unwilling to let them go so hirono-san convinced the producers to let them do another encore on top of the several they already had 😭😭😭

since he’s so well adjusted, some of his and kuukou’s heart to heart changed in execution, but it was neat seeing him call out kuukou for assuming people can be effortlessly strong like him, and have that thought come back when he’s facing jakurai

idk if i have a preference between the stage vs canon on how they resolved hitoya’s and sensei’s relationship but i still think the stage absolutely cooked lol

will always be crying over kuukou’s jakurai impersonation lol and how he revealed it by teasing hitoya for having a date but kuukou apparently got the details wrong so he confidently corrected him that they had gone out for strawberry milkshakes

and fanboy jyushi fell to his knees crying how cute that was, he gets it LOL

there’s this motion stage hitoya does in his courtroom solo i think, where he stands with perfect posture and tilts his arms that makes him look like a scale ⚖️ and it’s so good lol symbolism in DANCING

Finished the live action avatar

It’s not a perfect adaptation, I think the biggest thing is they have taken a lot of the fun out of it, Aang doesn’t wanna go do kid stuff, Iroh is way more serious, BUT I don’t necessarily blame like the series itself as much as I blame the current state of tv being in constraints of like 8 episodes and wanting people to binge it in the first few days and everything.

I hope they let Azula be as scary as possible next season, I think they just wanted her introduced a bit earlier since everyone was gonna be waiting for it, I hope they let Iroh chill out a bit more, but in general from my point of view if you see people bashing this series with as much vitriol as the movie then they’re being super dramatic. There are parts that could absolutely be better but like I said those issues go hand in hand with issues with all of tv right now. I think it’s decent at least, I know it’s a beloved series but some people are being HARSH

i’m a liiiiiittle drunk from my department’s holiday party (usually it’s either beer or cheap wine but this time it was cocktails!!) but honestly so fun to see people and get to socialize. i’ve been a little isolated lately i think, or just like going out and doing things but on my own, and it was nice to see friends. also, i got an interview invite from a site that was a long shot for me and i still just feel astonished that i got it and cannot wrap my head around it. i had already been kind of moving in the direction of acceptance in regard to how many interviews i have and where they are but there was definitely some self consciousness about not feeling like i’m measuring up to other people. but i think getting this site and also learning today that another person in my cohort only has one more interview than me has just made me feel so relieved and hopeful that i might end up matching somewhere other than my safety (although i generally still have very little control over that!)
