সলাম (আরবি: الإسلام‎‎‎) শব্দটি এসেছে আরবি س-ل-م থেকে যার দু'টি অর্থ। 1. শান্তি 2. আত্মসমর্পণ করা। ইসলামের অর্থ আল্লাহর কাছে আত্মসমর্পণ করে তাঁর নির্দেশ মেনে নেয়ার মাধ্যমে ব্যক্তিগত ও সামাজিক জীবনে শান্তি এবং নিরাপত্তা অর্জন করা। ‘ইসলাম’ শব্দটিতে আল্লাহ তাআলার ধর্মের মূলতত্ত্ব নিহীত রয়েছে। আরবি ভাষায় ইসলাম বলতে বোঝায় আনুগত্য, বাধ্যতা ও আত্মসমর্পণ। ইসলাম গ্রহণ করার মাধ্যমেই আল্লাহর কাছে সমর্পণ করতে হয়। ইসলাম শান্তিময়, অর্থপূর্ণ, চূড়ান্ত সাফল্যময় আল্লাহ্‌র মনোনীত পরিপূর্ণ জীবনব্যবস্থা। ইসলাম আল্লাহ্‌র মনোনীত জীবন ব্যবস্থা। পৃথিবীতে মানবজীবনের শুরু থেকে আল্লাহ্‌তাঁর বার্তাবাহকদের মাধ্যমে সত্য ও সম্পূর্ণ জীবনের পথ দেখিয়েছেন। পূর্ববর্তী ঐশী কিতাবগুলো নির্দিষ্ট ভূ-খণ্ড বা কোনো জাতির জন্য প্রেরিত। আরমানব সৃষ্টির সূচনা হতে দুনিয়ায় যেমন অসংখ্য নবী-রসূল এসেছেন, তেমনি তাঁদের উপরে নাযিলকৃত কিতাবের সংখ্যাও অগণিত। নবীদের মধ্যে মুহাম্মদ (সঃ) সর্বশেষ নবী। তাঁর ওপর নাজিল হয় সর্বশেষ ঐশী কিতাব আল কোরআন। কেয়ামত পর্যন্ত আর কোনো নবীও আসবে না এবং কোনও নতুন কিতাবও অবতীর্ণ হবে না। কোরআন সমগ্র মানব জাতির জন্য পথ প্রদর্শক। কোরআনের আলোচ্য বিষয় হল, মানব জাতি। কেননা মানব জাতির প্রকৃত কল্যাণ ও অকল্যাণের সঠিক পরিচয়ই কোরআনে দান করা হয়েছে। কোরআনের উদ্দেশ্য হলো মানবজাতিকে আল্লাহ্‌র প্রদত্ত জীবন ব্যবস্থার দিকে পথ প্রদর্শন, যাতে সে দুনিয়ায়ও নিজের জীবনকে কল্যাণময় করতে পারে এবং পরকালেও শান্তিময় জীবনের অধিকারী হতে পারে। এসব কারনে কোরআন সর্বজনীন ও ইসলাম পরিপূর্ণ। ইসলাম মানুষের সঠিক পথের দিশারী, দুনিয়া ও আখেরাতের সর্বাঙ্গীন ও পূর্ণাঙ্গ একমাত্র জীবন ব্যবস্থা। আল্লাহ তাআলা কুরআনুল কারিমে একাধিক স্থানে এ বক্তব্য তুলে ধরেছেন- ‘নিঃসন্দেহে আল্লাহর কাছে গ্রহণযোগ্য একমাত্র জীবন ব্যবস্থা হলো ইসলাম।’ (সুরা আলে-ইমরান : আয়াত ১৯) ‘আজ আমি তোমাদের জন্যে তোমাদের দ্বীনকে (জীবন ব্যবস্থা হিসেবে ইসলামকে) পূর্ণাঙ্গ করে দিলাম, তোমাদের প্রতি আমার অবদান পরিপূর্ণ করে দিলাম এবং ইসলামকে তোমাদের জন্য দ্বীন হিসেবে পছন্দ করলাম।’ (সুরা মায়েদা : আয়াত ৩)  সৃষ্টির সূচনা লগ্ন থেকে আদম আলাইহিস সালাম থেকে মুহাম্মাদুর রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম পর্যন্ত সব সম্মানিত নবি-রাসুলের মাধ্যমে আল্লাহ তাআলা মানুষকে ধর্ম  তথা সত্য জীবন ব্যবস্থার দিকে আহ্বান করেছেন। এ জীবন ব্যবস্থা ইসলাম সত্য ও ন্যায়ের শাশ্বত সৌন্দর্যের আলোকে পথ দেখিয়ে চলেছে সমগ্র মানব জাতিকে।

I really find it interesting how Zionists have no issues constantly using words like "Islamic" or "Islamist" or "jihadist" to describe the people they're killing without any fear of being accused of Islamophobia or that they're being bigots.

Because they know that we live in a world where anything or anyone remotely "Muslim" are automatically portrayed as inherently evil and deserving of death, especially in the US and other Western countries where Israel gets most of its support from them. So therefore, no one can be mad at them for killing all of these people, right? After all, they're only killing scary radical "Islamists" and "jihadists," NOT innocent people.

Meanwhile you would never hear any pro-Palestine people calling IDF soldiers "Jewists" or "Jewish extremists," even when they're literally branding the star of David onto Palestinians' faces and houses, instead we have to be very careful to not associate Judaism with Israel's crimes and are obligated to write a long essay about how we in fact do NOT want to kill every Jew in the world before we're allowed to show a shred of sympathy toward the thousands of Palestinian civilians being murdered as we are speaking.

Yet somehow that's not enough and they still hit us with the "when you say Zionists you actually mean Jews!" all while ignoring how they themselves aren't putting any effort into not demonizing Islam and Muslims with their words, because demonizing Islam and Muslims isn't an issue to them and the only way they can justify all the killing they're doing.

Nandor would have been incredibly educated in his lifetime.

even (or especially) as a soldier in the Islamic World. being a soldier was more like getting sent to boarding school that's also a military camp. they weren't just concerned with creating loyal fodder for war. they were building the next government officials, generals, accountants, advisors, etc. it was important that young men knew how to read, write, speak multiple languages, learn philosophy...sometimes even studying art and music was mandatory.

if he was nobility (and its most likely he was), take all that shit and multiply it exponentially. Nandor would have been reading Plato at the same age most people are still potty training. he would have been specifically groomed in such a way to not be just a brilliant strategist and warrior, but also diplomate and ambassador of literally the center of scientific and cultural excellence of the age.

France is banning the abaya, which is a loose-fitting dress worn by Muslim women (among other groups of women), in public schools. They claim the dress is an affront to French secularism even though it's not even a religious garment – it's a cultural garment that resembles pretty much any loose-fitting modest dress.

I can't possibly spell out for you how discriminatory and backward this is for a "modern, democratic" nation like France. Muslim women deserve more humane treatment and respect than this – being forced to undress more than they're comfortable with.
