This is Dr. Katherine Ward, local physician of Valentine and very old necromancer. okay she's technically a lich but shhhhhhhhh

I had a lot of fun drawing her again honestly, came up with her initially in 2020 (which is when the second image was done and is technically an early concept of her lich form). The gangrene hand is a new development which started with "oooooo aesthetic color fade fingers" and turned into "how do I make this creepy?".

I also have her real age pinned down, but where's the fun in the character if I tell you everything before you actually get to meet her in the story?

Okay okay so I rewatched Pickman’s Model, written by H.P Lovecraft from Del Toro’s cabinet of curiosities. I love this series on Netflix, this and The Sandman are basically my comfort shows💚

Also Crispin Glover in this 🥺😭🥵🤤

Ben Barnes in this too was incredible🤩

The whole Anthology series is truly remarkable, I do love the series as a whole but Pickman’s Model is truly in my eyes number one of this series.

What I like about Crescent City is that even though Bryce and Hunt are mated, she still has interactions with the other males in her life and isn't repulsed by it and Hunt doesn't get possessive.

For example, in What Hunts Inside the Shadows, Estrella is seen naked by other men when she's passed out and her mate gets super angry at those who saw her and to make it cancel out they have to have sex in front of them???

And in King of Battle and Blood; Isolde is helped down from her horse and recoils/cringes from being touched by someone who isn't Adrian.

Romantasy

There's a new sub-genre of fantasy and a bunch of fantasy books are being relegated to this sub-genre. I'm not mad about it just a bit confused. The nearest I can figure if it a fantasy book has a romance plot it falls under this heading?

So all of SJM's books go under Romantasy?

The Flesh and Fire series by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

The Fate and Flame series by K.A. Tucker.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (I bet she'd be surprised to find out her books are under this heading!)

Then there's The Bargainer by Laura Thalassa and let's not forget the new fantasy series I've been raving about for the past two years What Lies beyond the Veil by Harper L. Woods.

Literally counting down the days until the end of August when the sequel to What Lies Beyond the Veil comes out. I LOVED that book.

The Bonds That Tie series currently has me in a chokehold btw. It’s ridiculous.
