Get Back Rewatch 55 Years On: Day Five

The thing is I absolutely love the album that comes out of this mess. Like I know a lot of people do not like Let It Be, but so many of my favorite songs are on it. One of them being “I Me Mine.” The walz element is haunting, and I can read the lyrics as anti-capitalist even though George himself mostly wasn’t.

Laughing my head off at two boys from one of the best grammar schools in England, who have at this point made millions off of their writing, genuinely not knowing whether it should be “more freer” or “more freely”

The difference in how George shows Paul his new song vs John is striking. For Paul, he’s relaxed, nonchalant. For John, he stands up and performs it. And I think both are a defense mechanism, poor baby, because clearly, although Paul was very supportive of the song while they were alone, when John is roasting it, Paul just laughs along and George has to go “I don’t give a fuck whether you like it.”

Ah, the famous “up-against-a-wall” conversation. Paul comes in all dominant and sure. “Haven’t you written anything else? Haven’t you?” But then John touches him, and makes him laugh, and Paul’s a melted, goo-goo-eyes mess. This is the real reason why John got to be the leader isn’t it? Because Paul was too damn soft on him to ever follow through with his bossiness.

Their scouse sounds BEAUTIFUL compared to the stupid ugly RP and MLH’s transatlantic shit.

“And now John’d like to say a few words on the subject.” John starts singing, Paul strums along and joins in on the “chorus.” They can’t communicate like healthy people, but they Can do this.

So Peter Jackson took out Paul’s bitchy nod at Yoko as he’s stealing her man in real time right in front of her eyes. Unforgivable. But he kept in this adorable laugh, so that’s something.

Three more covers that I think *mean something* “Stand By Me” and “Spinning Like a Top” by Paul, followed by “You Win Again” by John. Yoko’s sweet little shoulder kiss. Thank you for taking care of the poor wet kitten, girly. Maybe don’t introduce the poor wet kitten to heroine, but you do you, I guess. (OP recognizes that poor wet kitten is also an adult capable of making his own decisions)

The cut from Paul literally dancing to get John’s attention straight to John dancing with Yoko while inside Paul’s head a silver hammer is clanging ominously. I can’t. Followed by the knowing, loving smile from Ringo to Paul. You know, those moments when you validate your friend’s bitchy thoughts with a look.

George is literally SO big inside himself, you know? You have to have superhuman self-love abilities to watch your friend – who is supposed to be helping you – shamelessly make fun of your art . . . and just “Do you wanna do that walz on the show? That’d be great.”

But did you guys know John was actually a really great mover?

“Yes, alright. Just sod off.” I love John. Paul’s people-pleasing ass would literally die first and he needs John to do this kind of shit for him and John’s only too happy to.

The moment when Paul and John are on the same wavelength about Dennis O’Dell’s stage.

OK but. Did John get the clear plastic idea from Yoko’s art exhibits?

“Any time we do anything it’s always got to be the best.” Poor Ringo. They’re all literally so tired of carrying so much weight for such a long time.

“See, I’d watch an hour of him just playing the piano. Cause he’s so great.” With that fond, loving, smile. SUCH big dick energy here. The others could NEVER.

“And I’ll have the plastic when you’re finished.” Literally for what, though? John, you little hoarding goblin.

And then Ringo responding to MLH’s “I love you” with “Yes, I love you too.” Yeah, Ringo wins the prize for most healthy beatle of the day.

*Pattie Boyd voice* “I just wish I knew what was going on there. But something. Something.”

Ugh, John looks so hurt. So tender. So heartbroken. While Paul is over there playing a damn funeral march because that’s the only way he lets himself express anything. But I actually love how Dennis O’Dell knows the clearest path to cheering John up is to say that Paul liked his idea. And how well it works. They’re literally so obvious to everyone but themselves.

I love the bit when John walks in on the rest of them discussing the live show and MLH calls, “We’ve decided. We’re going to Africa.” And Paul hurries to cut in, “No we’re NOT.” Because he knows exactly how John can get and he’s going to nip this in the bud before John gets let down. And of course, John is all “YEAH LETS GO LETS GO!” And he’s talking about how they always wish they were recording abroad. “We could be in LA, or FRANCE.” (side eye emoji)

Paul’s “Well said, John.” and “I’ve seen it, John. I went to the premiere. I thought you were great.” Why do all your compliments to him have to be in silly voices? Like, I know you think everyone is going to call you a pussy for saying something genuinely kind to your best friend, but they’re not, and he needs it.

Holy shit this was a long day. See you all tomorrow with another long-winded-ass post.

─ You spend a large part of the day listening to music, either in private or at a respectable volume in meetings so as not to disturb.

─ Everyone knows your tastes and how much you complain about music, especially if it's white girl music, they will never hear you listening to that kind of stuff.

─ You argue a lot with Brook about songs and sometimes Franky joins in, since they are both the ones who precede you in your obsession with listening to music at all hours.

─ Now, your sober and drunk side are different people, or at least, concepts of your personality that others should forget, we are not going to review all the embarrassing things you have done while drunk.

─ But something that they remind you constantly like breathing was that time you had too many drinks that your body couldn't handle.

─ It was in a bar while you were celebrating having liberated another island from some random tyrant, the atmosphere was great and you loved the music that accompanied it, but the moment you crossed that line, between sobriety and drunkenness, that's when you lost it.

─ Robin had to take you to the boat that night while you ranted about your favorite artists, being the complete opposite of what you used to listen to on a daily basis, she wasn't the only one, because Nami ended up learning Taylor Swift's entire discography.

─ They asked Chopper for something to put you to sleep because you couldn't stop humming songs even with your eyes closed.

─ Nobody, absolutely nobody except Heat, listened to that kind of music.

─ You expressed countless times your most sincere hatred towards white girl music, throwing hate at the main artists or songs in particular, everyone at Victoria Punk knew about your dislike towards the genre.

─ Maybe the only one who caught you listening to those songs was Wire, but you threatened to cut out his tongue if he said a single word about this.

─ Although it wasn't necessary, when in one of the many celebrations for defeating any strong opponent, you got drunk, putting aside your hatred and embracing your tastes closely that night.

─ Kid almost choked on his beer when he saw how both you and Heat started a dance battle that ended with both of you singing “Last Friday Night.”

─ Taking advantage of the fact that the next morning you would regret it, he recorded everything to show you, making fun of you was always fun for your captain, especially if it was his revenge for recording him canoodling with Killer at the previous party.

─ Even when most of the crew got tired or fainted from exhaustion, you continued giving your concert.

─ Killer had to drag you back to your bed after you vomited a couple of times on the way, listening to how you would describe fun facts from the album "1989", he patted you on the back and left you, hoping you wouldn't throw up again.

─ The next day you chased Kid all over the ship to erase that singing video from existence.

─ Only Thatch knew about your guilty taste for that type of music, he was also a secret fan, since no one used to enter the kitchen apart from him and a couple of other people, you took advantage of that time to do private concerts.

─ The problem was that Ace discovered you while he was trying to steal food, and sometimes he has just enough neurons.

─ Probably not all the crew knew your musical tastes, but most definitely knew what kind of music you didn't like, because you were always complaining if any of those songs came on the radio.

─ Oh, everyone missed how you enjoyed the songs, moving your lips singing in silence.

─ The fact is that Ace, in one of his brilliant ideas, took you on stage in the middle of a party, although it wasn't something that caught everyone's attention, it definitely caught the attention of your closest people.

─ Not only were you drunk, but you also started singing “Don't let me down” with Thatch with everything you had, Ace joined in, slurring the lyrics but following the rhythm.

─ Izo knew it was time to get you off the stage when you started to wobble more than necessary, you hugged him to keep from falling, listing each of Taylor Swift's albums and each favorite song from her respective album.

─ The next morning you had completely forgotten what happened that night, more concerned with receiving Marco's hangover pills, he made fun of you for your performance but since you didn't remember it you just told him he dreamed it or something.

─ It was Whitebeard who made you remember what you had done that night, completely embarrassed not by singing those songs, but by the drunkenness you had gotten, you are glad to have such an understanding father right now.

You're a swiftie and you go to the Eras tour with your boyfriend, Gavi.

You loved Taylor Swift, she was the greatest songwriter of your generation and your idol. By the start of your relationship with Gavi, you had made your boyfriend slowly start listening to her music and that way, you had introduced him to the world of Taylor Swift. A place he could probably never escape, not at least with your help. Gavi liked her music and always asked you questions to know more, so you told him the story and the messages behind each song.

You had also dedicated to him your favorite songs, those that reminded you of Gavi. The romantic ones. Slowly he had made the same for you, he dedicated his favorites songs from Taylor. When you had days off you would do karaoke and basically sing all her songs. When you felt more romantic, you would dance barefoot and kiss until you finished listening to her discography. By having a swiftie girlfriend, Gavi had also become one.

That’s how he surprised you with tickets to the concert, the Eras tour. You had thanked him, because you thought there was no chance you would be there. Being able to listen to Midnights, Evermore and Folklore for the first time live, and singing all those oldie Taylor songs was a wonderful experience you longed to live. You had even put on an outfit dedicated to your favorite album and your favorite era of Taylor.

"If I pass out, get me up and wait until I recover, don’t get me out of here. It’s the best experience I’ll ever have, it’s the best thing that’s ever gonna happen to me."

"I thought knowing me was the best thing that ever happened to you." Gavi joked, smiling at your happiness.

"I’m sorry baby, you know Taylor’s in first place."

Gavi had brought a Reputation T-shirt and you gave him your sunglasses like Taylor wore in 22. You had the most handsome and dedicated boyfriend, and now he was an authentic swiftie. You couldn’t really ask for anything else, you were really happy.

"Do you know I love you very much?," you asked the footballer and he smiled sideways. "Living this experience with you is something I will remember all my life."

"Even when we get old?"

"Even when we get old enough to forget the lyrics."

With the tickets in your hands, you settled in the place you had been given. The excitement was so great, by the time Taylor came on stage, you were already in tears. Gavi was laughing as he watched you react.

"I can’t believe I’m seeing Taylor with my own eyes! She's so wonderful."

"You okay?"

"I'm at my best moment!"

You had stopped crying and when Taylor started singing Lover you looked at Gavi and the two approached, while he kissed you on the lips and told you that you were his favorite person. It was a special moment, where you were listening to the song and the lyrics that you dedicated to Gavi. Your boyfriend’s brown eyes watched you with adoration.

"Can we always be this close, forever and ever?" you sang the lyrics, stealing a kiss and feeling him smiling against your lips.

You were the person Gavi always loved, he'll always want to touch you and kiss you. He wasn't able to contain a smile around you. You were the love of his life, his lover.

"I love you."

"I love you too.”

During the rest of the show, you spent your time shouting the songs, and when you left the stadium, the two knew it had been the best day of your lives.

Jimin trying to act nonchalant around JK lately since hiatus, is actually making it more sus, but the only thing I can think of is, JM wants to keep his working relationship separate from his personal relationship and now that Jikook are on hiatus, they finally have a chance to do that, when Jikook never had that before. Before, they had cameras on them consistently, catching every gravitational pull, footsie and ball jiggle they did. They just wanna hold hands in the dark at a album party, but those pesky cameras. Also, JM was smart not including JK in his album promotions, dance challenges, cause now his haters can't use it against him. And I don't wanna hear people use the excuse its "hate" keeping JM from doing things, because chile, in case you forgot, JM will still show up & slap the fuck out of the cult, when they get too cocky. It seems JM's been calling the shots all along based on JK's IDGAF I love my boyfriend, Jimin attitude lately. Look how he has excluded talking about JK's participation on his gay love confession, Letter & not even singing it with him (which he did like a post about doing Letter with JK, so maybe there's still a chance). I'm also tired of these antis flocking to Jikook spaces, acting like they are TK lives and we're a cult that they can easily brainwash & gaslight into thinking JK left JM or JK doesn't want anything to do with JM or JK doesn't support JM. GTFO, we have functioning brains & know better. JK is the one telling JM to come over everytime he sees him & telling JM he wants to come to his recordings & going live talking about JM & chasing JM around on weverse commenting on almost all his posts. He is definitely not holding back. I know JK wants that Jikook subunit & Jikook live as bad as we do & probably wanted to do challenges with JM etc. Like JM purposely reading a question about seeing JK, only to not answer & deflect. He knows army's are nosy & wanted details & he said NOPE, I'm pleading the 5th. However, JM blushing talking about Army hearing Letter & then smiling and lighting up as soon as JK comes in when singing it. Yeah, he knows he's not fooling anyone. He knows we know. Jikook knows that everyone knows. Just look at how everyone was staring at Jikook when they were interacting in JM's BTB when JK came to see him rehearse for Face. The dancers & staff in the back, stealing glances at Jikook. They know they're watching THE couple of BTS & THE couple of BTS knows they're being watched, therefore THE couple of BTS forgets how to act on camera or around people and overthinks their behavior, which I think has happened with Jikook for a while now. In case anyone forgot, JK shared a song Justin Park On The Low, on the 1500 day anniversary of GCF Tokyo, that says "We ain't gotta keep it on the low. Backstage pouring up before the show. When we stuntin, WE LOUD, WE LOUD, WE LOUD, just so they know". So in case you didn't JK's message lately. JK doesn't wanna be low key with Jimin anymore & even tho JM is quiet, don't let the silence fool you. He's loving every minute of what his man is doing with his lives & supporting him.

Depression hit hard today! So let's write something to cope it a little.

Reddie never talk about her past. She has a strong "one day to the next and don't look back" way of life.

That's why she don't have any pictures from her childhood and don't like being called by her real name.

We only know a few things on her childhood so far : she's an orphan, she was a rogue kid, and she already had a fucking shitty temper.

She started performing in the street in order to gain some berries, throwing daggers, singing and dancing for passer-by.

... however she never been really good at this. The girl didn't have much talent.

In another hand she's always been good at ass-kicking!

Found that distracting people was a good way to steal their berries.

Probably been the leader of a little brat gang at some point.

Had some handy skills, managed to work for tailors and restaurants to gain some berries (only to be quickly fired after being catched stealing things).

Having to live by her own at a young age she knows how to sew, repair things, and cook dumpster loots.

Always was an animal lover, she used to take care of street cats / dogs / injured pigeons etc.

The cat on the picture isn't one of them tho. She catnapped it from some rich kid who attempted to bully her.

Cat somehow got attached to her, tho, and still come back to her after she give it back to his owner.

When she found this old picture in her stuff, she was about to throw it away but Buggy begged on his knees to keep it. She accepted and he put it in his memory album photo, keeping it like a treasure.

Some of my favorite Lostwave Songs - Solved and Unsolved (Part 2)

Solved -

Found A Place by The Jazz Hipsters - Spooky vibes but very cool. Unfortunately this band hasn't seem to release anything else.

Boogie Home by Billy Workman - I love me some glam rock.

Summer's End by Prince of the Blood - The entire album, Portsmouth, is honestly so good, especially the titular song.

Creepy Crawlies by Bing Hitler with the Chain Gang - Not the best band name, but was a stage name of a Scottish comedian named Craig Ferguson. Picturing Shrek singing while listening to this is highly recommend.

Maniac Laughing by Johnny Cohen - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA-

Oceans of Time by Al Bowlly - I love me some crunchy old music.

Mental by Tripp7 - This song slaps, it's also one of the few available on Spoofy so go check it out on there!

Weekend by Charlatan - Lovin' that sax. I also recommend En Walki Talki Man.

Take Off by Kigoy - This song sounds like it crawled out of an abandoned subway station and I mean that in the best way possible I love this song. Unfortunately it seems Kigoy only really did two songs, this and this one here that's worth checking out.

At the Lightworks by Ellie Greenwich - Yes, the Ellie Greenwich! I assume this song was solved in like five seconds. Delightfully 60s.

Paragon by NuKeMOuT - This song goes hard, feel free to screenshot.

Magic Summer by Captains - Lovin' that sax (again.) Also I love this lady's voice.

Unsolved -

"Johnny" - I can't see a sail boat without thinking of this song

"Treadmill of Time" - Possibly identified as a song by a band called Memorybank. Everyone says it has Depeche Mode vibes (I think originally it was passed of as an outtake of there's though it obviously isn't) but it gives me more TMBG vibes.

"Friends" - May sound like it's from a kid's show but it's VERY NOT. It's actually from, like, the opposite of that.

"Let's Get Up" - Another song from a porn film. Steals a lot of its lyrics from Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Ritchie but is actually better.

"I Was A Fool In Love" - One that's weirdly grown on me over the past few weeks???

"Trip To Rio" - The intro is honestly one of the catchiest things I've ever heard, period. I hope we find the full version soon.

"Poor Christmas" - The lostwave Christmas song, and I love it for that. I'm not at all religious I'm just weird and dig Christmas music.

"CIA" - Sounds like it's from a movie, it's got that cinematic vibe to it.

"Leylo Lo La" - Possibly a cover of a cover...?

"Ai wa Subete" - I love me some Japanese lostwave.

Might do a part 3 or a other songs by lostwave artists and where to support them (obviously the latter can only really apply to people with solved songs).

Speirs does most of his paperwork at night, he barely sleeps.

Nix really hates his rich family.

Lieb loves and is the best at Volleyball.

Bull is the therapist of the company.

Shifty sucks at poker or any board game (he is just too nice, so he lets them win.)

Winters makes notes for Nix with important things that he can’t forget to do.

Luz LOVES and is AMAZING with kids.

Nix Keeps a pic of his dog in his wallet.

Malarkey has a camera and made a whole photo album of the Company.

Perconte has a skin care routine.

Skip collects random stuff, like coins, mugs and shirts.

When there's a bug in their dorms, they call Toye to kill him.

But Shifty doesn't let him and puts the bug outside.

Eugene has the softest cold hands.

Dick loves gardening.

Once Bill sent flowers to Babe for him to think that he had a secret admirer.

Don't let Bill drive a car for fuck sake.

Tab steals the other guys' things like clothes, hygiene products and underwear.

When Skip and Malarkey are pulling pranks it is Penkala who warns them but still gets in trouble because he is the one who watches if someone is coming.

Nix makes dark humor suicide jokes (it's not funny we should check oh him.)

Malarkey gets really sensitive when Nix does it and tells him to stop.

Luz loves to dance.

Malark hums random songs and then Skip keeps singing them.

Skip is dyslexic.

and your captions are sometimes really vague or revealing

all in all, the owner of the acct is protected from allegations because there’s just no verified information about it. people have speculated that you may be venti’s lover but then again — there’s no evidence to confirm this theory; even if the diehard fans go investigator mode, there’s nothing they can find because it’s just all venti, venti, venti and the 5wirl members.

This was a mantra for me for a couple years. Tallahassee is my fave album and this song is sweet and tender within the context of the Alpha Couple's impulses to do bad things and their completely toxic relationship. I'm not an optimist, but I am the kind of person that believes in the Law of Large Numbers and that statistically you can't keep running into bad luck and that you're luck will turn eventually and that's what these lyrics mean to me. I became very obsessed with this song after graduating college. All my friends I had just spent 4 years with nearly every day were suddenly far away from me, I couldn't find a damn job and I had to move back home, my ultimate flop era. But also realizing how fleeting friendships and moments can be is so bittersweet and this is a song that gets that. Its subject matter is more serious than no longer being within walking distance between friends since this is John reflecting on the people he knew when he struggled with addiction in Portland, but there is a part of going through a really tough time with people and looking back at that time with some longing. I'm so much happier now and would never want to go back to that stress and depressed anxious state I was fucking stuck in for 4 years, but that camaraderie is something I don't have in my life anymore.

I love this song so much, when they played it live at a show I went to I started full on sobbing as they danced and sang. I think this song is not supposed to be a love song but it feels so tender and vulnerable to me. The occupants of the house are lost ("not as far west") and the house seems to be on the verge of something terrible ("house is throbbing"), but in the moment they have this old and fragile thing to hold onto. It's so so tmg to find these moments before the storm and to just occupy them for a little and in some way that feels deeply comforting to me. Also it's just a really beautiful song!

2. an album you wish you could hear again for the first time

I think… We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. by Jason Mraz. I remember being about 13 or 14 and listening to that on my iPod shuffle or nano (I can’t remember which) in front of my high school while my group of friends hung about talking. It was so grounding and I think I was in a period of my life where I was really exploring who I was and what I liked. The type of music I was into changed a lot that year and that album was a big part of it.

22. name a song that reminds you of one of your best memories

No Such Thing As A Broken Heart by Old Dominion… I had a period of my life, around age 25, where my physical and mental health were manageable enough that I decided to have all the stupid experiences I’d missed out on in my teens. There were a lot of late night drives and I can remember being in the passenger seat of my then-best friend’s car, this song playing, watching as she danced and sang at the top of her lungs. I see her and hear her laughter every time this song comes on and it reminds me of the good times we had. I like holding onto that memory because her and I don’t talk anymore. But for a brief moment, our lives were intertwined and it was good.

Agreed. Let's assume that Anon was being sincere somewhere in between all that gloating and snark. If they ever do enter into a long-term romantic relationship, I fear they are in for some really hard times ahead, because what's normal behavior among partners will feel like neglect or disinterest to them. But that's between them and their partners (and their therapist). To each their own.

More likely, that Anon was a troll who is either very insecure and needs to poke holes in Jikooker's beliefs in order to feel comfortable with their own ideas, or they thrive off negative attention and so come to badger and harass. It doesn't really upset me but it does sort of depress me that anyone would spend their life behaving that way. There are so many interesting things in the world to be doing. They could be chasing dopamine in a productive or positive way.

I will say that BTS is my first real-person fandom (I've been a fanfic writer for over 23 years now). And it's been eye-opening. I'm a bit shocked by how many toxic narratives persist in this space, particularly around shipping and the maknae line.

Jikook aren't together all the time so clearly they don't miss each other.

Jikook don't mention each other on social media so clearly they cannot feel romantic feelings for each other.

When Jikook are together on their personal time, it's all set up by the company as fanservice and staff pose as fans to take photos or it's photoshopped and not real.

Jungkook is forced to do fanservice with Jimin in official content and it breaks Taehyung's heart.

Jungkook tortures Taehyung by doing things like hanging out with Jimin or removing his tiger and eye tattoos.

Taehyung and Jimin appear to be close and call each other soulmates but it's all just a lie.

All the members lie.

The company deliberately hides Taekook, even though Taekook is the biggest ship and pushing it in official content would result in more money.

Jimin is a homewrecker.

Jimin can't sing or dance and isn't handsome--he just sleeps with PD Bang to get special treatment.

Even though he got no formal vocal training (despite begging for it) and no promotion for his OST and he was the only member who didn't have a demo track on Proof. He went over to PD Bang's house to discuss his solo album and that's all the proof you need that he's the favorite.

Jimin and his father are forcing Jungkook and his father to enter into the shady world of conservative politics.

Jimin went to support Hobi at Lollapalooza to clout-chase and steal his spotlight.

Hobi and Hybe use LGBTQA themes as a marketing ploy but force the two real gay members into the closet.

And on and on and on, each theory more unhinged. When I say it's getting to Q-Anon levels of conspiracy, I mean it. Part of me feels like Army should actively smack down each and every instance of it, but then we'd all be exhausted. We could starve it of oxygen by not paying attention to it, but people who are attracted to conspiracies will continue to doggedly pursue anything except logic. I doubt they will ever, as you say, chill out.

The best I can come up with is to pat them on the head, wish them well, and then get right back to enjoying what brings me joy: Jikook. Whether they are together romantically or just super close friends now, I love their bond. I love their talent. I love what they've brought to my life.

In a world where so many people want to tear things down, I prefer to stick with folks who lift each other up.
