Actually the funniest and my personal favourite way to interpret Eddie's scenes with Chrissy is that he was DEFINITELY flirting with her like a motherfucker but she was a raging lesbian in a terrible comphet relationship and looked at this bonkers weirdo and went "Funky little queer friend? Nonthreatening gayboy bestie for me, mayhaps?" Completely misreading Eddie's intentions but also clocking him as a fellow queer in a wicked one-two punch of oblivious and accurate observation.

Eddie's hanging out with Steve at Family Video when Robin stomps in like a whirlwind.
"Oh, god, I did something so dumb. You have to help meee."
They straighten from where they lean over the counter towards each other, and Eddie takes a big step back, sure that all his big gay feelings for Steve are on display.
"What did you do this time?" Steve smiles with exasperated fondness.
"It's so bad." Robin faceplants with a dramatic wail.
"What happened?" Eddie asks
"I--I'm so sorry!" She looks at both of them, and a tingle of panic works it's way up Eddie's spine.
"My parents started going on and on about me and Steve and why we won't just admit we're dating, and I started to freak out because they won't accept that we're just friends, and I'm not ready to tell them that I'm a lesbian, even though I think it would be okay, so, I told them you were dating someone, Steve."
"Well, that's not so bad, Rob. So, what, they think I have a girlfriend? Who cares."
Her shoulders slump and she frowns. "I wish that's what they thought. They kept asking who, and I panicked!"
"Robin." Steve looks alarmed now, his pretty mouth pulled into a grimace. "What did you tell them?"
"Okay, please don't hate me," she begs. She's looking at Steve, but then she's looking over at Eddie. And oh, god, oh fuck, this can't be happening.
"You've got to be kidding me, Buckley," he says. He keeps his voice light but the touch of panic has become a punch.
"Wait. How do you know--how does he--? Who am I dating?"
"Me, Harrington. She told them you were dating me."
"Oh," Steve shrugs. "Sure."
Eddie chokes on air, plays it off. "For you maybe, Stevie. We in the Munson household have standards."
Steve doesn't meet a beat. "I'll have you know, Edward, that I am a catch."
"Yeah, for the lovely ladies of Hawkins," Eddie winks, even though every word, every gesture aches.
"Oh, c'mon! I'm a great boyfriend. Defend me here, Robin"
Normally, Eddie finds these antics to be charming, but confronting his crush on Steve so forcefully has ruined his mood.
"Need a cigarette," he says to escape.
He's only alone for a few minutes before Steve is sidling up next to him.
"What's she need us to do?"
"Dinner."
He grimaces, exhaling a plume of smoke. "I'm so bad at meeting the parents."
"Shut-up." Steve pokes him in the chest. "Everyone loves you. It's kind of obnoxious, actually. Plus, I think this'll help her feel more comfortable about coming out."
He snorts if only so he doesn't have to think about Steve talking about him and love in the same sentence.
"Fine. For Buck, I'll do it." But he doesn't know how he'll get through pretending to date his biggest crush with out spontaneously combusting.
"Love the enthusiasm," Steve laughs. "You know I'd treat you right, Munson."
The blush that rolls over his face is crimson. "Alright, big boy, calm down. We're not actually dating."
The bark of laughter Steve lets out is a burst of pure adrenaline to Eddie's heart. This is going to be a disaster.
---
The night of the dinner arrives and Eddie almost blows the whole game when they walk in the Buckley front door and Steve's arm wraps around his waist. The night is all casually intimate touches and Steve leaning into his personal space; calling him "baby" in a soft, warm voice; eyes drifting to Eddie's lips as they flirt and banter.
It's almost like they're a couple; almost like Steve could love him.All of his senses are overwhelmed with Steve Harrington and it fucking hurts. But Eddie lets himself indulge, finally running his fingers through Steve's gorgeous hair, tracing the moles on his face and neck, outlining the sharpness of his perfect jaw, calling him "sweetheart" with heartbreaking fondness.
It's intoxicating.
They're helping Mrs. Buckley with the dishes when it happens. When Steve leans over and casually presses his lips to Eddie's, tasting like vanilla ice cream and spiced apples and something indefinably warm. Eddie is helpless not to crumple, leans into Steve, wraps fists into the perfectly fitted polo, drawing them closer.
The night ends and Eddie thinks he's finally free, except the Buckleys love them. Keep inviting them back.
He goes for Robin, he tells himself, but he knows that it's for the hope of it. Knows that he's a ship breaking himself against the rock that is Steve Harrington, and god help him, he can't stop.
---
Of course, of course, the wires get crossed. The kids have a pool party, leave Steve and Eddie to ice cream clean-up duty. Of course, he can't stop himself from smearing some melted mint chip down Steve's face, and Steve retaliates with chocolate sauce.
They giggle and flight and make mess until Steve's eyes are bright, cheeks red, and Eddie can't look away. He clocks Steve's eyes drifting to his mouth, is helpless as the distance between them closes, as Steve captures his lips.
It's not the brief, chaste things from the Buckley's; it's hot, all tongues and teeth and desire, and it's not fucking real.
Eddie lurches back, making Steve stumble. "Stop," he snarls.
"Eddie--" Steve's eyes are wide.
He's panting, can't catch his breath. "You can't just fucking kiss me like that when it doesn't mean anything to you."
"Please," Steve begs. "Let me explain."
"Save it. We're done with this. Robin is good now. And I'm out."
He turns away, heads towards the front door, but Steve pulls him back.
"Let me explain. Please. Please, Eddie. I didn't mean--"
And it's too much. Steve's plaintive voice, his big eyes wet with tears.
"Of course you didn't mean it," he spits. "It's nothing to you, pretending to date me. Touching me. Kissing me. Acting like you love me. It doesn't matter to the Heartthrob of Hawkins. But have you or Buckley ever taken the time to think that it's everything to me?" Hot tears spill down his cheeks and he can't even be embarrassed because all of this has been so humiliating.
Steve gapes at him, face slack and stunned. "Eddie, I--I'm so--"
"Don't. See you around, Harrington," he says. Then he runs.
---
He doesn't leave the trailer for a week. Refuses to pick up the phone.
It's Saturday, early evening. Wayne just left for his shift when there's a knock on the door.
Eddie is content to ignore it, to wrap himself in a quilt on the couch, but the knocking doesn't stop.
"Eddie, I know you're in there. Your van is here. The lights are on. I can hear you," Steve calls.
Longing clenches at his heart, but he's not in the mood for the gentle let down.
"Go away, Harrington." He starts towards his bedroom, thinking maybe he can lock Steve out.
"Please, Eddie."
"I don't need anything from you, Harrington."
It's silent for long enough that Eddie thinks it works. And then, " I have so many things I should tell you, Eds. If you still hate me at the end, I'll go. I'll never bother you again. But please, please listen."
Resigned to having a conversation he never wanted, Eddie opens the door. "Okay, Harrington."
Steve steps inside, twisting his hands for a few seconds before blurting out, "I've had a crush on you for months."
The confession briefly steals Eddie's breath from his lungs before he scoffs, "and you never said anything? C'mon, Harrington, when have you ever hesitated to ask someone out?"
Steve blinks a few times, before he answers. "I've been terrified to say anything because I didn't want to lose my best friend."
"And what, Robin asks us to pretend to date and you think that's the perfect time to make your move?" Eddie grips at his hair, pulling it in front of his face.
"Yeah, a little bit!" Steve raises his voice. "I tried but I was terrified you only wanted me as a friend."
"You know I'm gay, Harrington!"
"What the fuck does that mean?"
"Of course I wanted you!" Eddie's yelling now, has closed the distance between them so they're almost nose-to-nose.
"I didn't know! How could I? You could've said something!"
"I thought you were straight! Fucking look at you! You've slept with 75% of the available girls at Hawkins High!"
"Who cares about them, Eddie? I want you!"
"Funny way of showing it, Harrington."
"What do you want me to say? That I'm sorry? Cause I am."
"Is that why you kissed me at your house? Making your move?"
"It wasn't supposed to be. I got--" Steve's throat bobs as he swallows. "Caught up in the moment. I know I shouldn't have kissed you like that. I know."
"Then why did you?" Eddie's voice breaks. "Why then? Why not any of the other nights we spent together?"
"Because that's when I realized that I'm fucking in love with you!" Steve shouts.
They're both breathing hard by the end, Steve's eyes too bright, face too flushed. They stare at each other, unmoving, Steve's confession ringing in his ears.
"You done?" Eddie's voice waivers, his heart pounding, stuttering, flipping in his chest.
Steve nods, but Eddie doesn't give him a chance to move. He brings their mouths crashing together, Steve not even hesitating to slip his tongue between Eddie's lips. They kiss hard enough that they draw blood, but that just makes it more frenzied. Eddie grips Steve's hip, presses him against the trailer door, grinding against him with abandon.
Eddie breaks the kiss to finally pay some attention to the delightful moles on Steve's neck, working his way up to his jaw. "I'm going to have so much fun taking you apart, sweetheart," he whispers, mouth pressed to Steve's ear, delighting in the way he shivers at the words.

Prompt number 2 bc I’m praying for more jealous Steve content. Bc Eddie can be so oblivious and Steve can be such a bitch and those things are so important to me
Eddie was a glutton for self-punishment, that was the only reasonable explanation he could come up with on what the fuck he was doing here. Sitting at some random gay bar as he watched the man he loved dance the night away with his bestfriend.
He just had to volunteer to be their designated driver. Maybe it was stupid, but Eddie thought that y'know, a gay bar meant that no he would not have to watch Steve flirt with some randos. But he forgot the small detail that bisexual people existed. And he had seen at least three damn girls slip Steve their number.
Which was just...so fucking cruel. Why did life always have to do him so dirty? Eddie had thought that maybe...if they went to this type of place together Steve's mind would open up a bit. A stupid fucking thought honestly. Based off of nearly nothing. Like, okay sure, Steve was all touchy feely with him sometimes. When he was high or drunk suddenly Eddie became his personal chair. And he would say just...the sweetest shit. Going on and on about how happy he was to have met him, how he's so glad he's alive and well, how funny Eddie was, how nice and sweet and pretty and...and all of it had sent his traitorous brain into a tailspin that had him thinking he actually had a chance with a straight guy.
And the fucked up part was that Eddie had really tried to start doing the right thing. He put a little distance between them when he figured out that he was past a silly crush. No he was head over heels for the guy and he needed to get over it. Fast. And if he could just start saying no when Steve called to get high or have a few beers together he probably would have made some progress by now.
But no, he was still to eager for contact with him to say no. Which made him feel like a creep, always waiting around for Steve to be a little out of his mind just so he could get a hug.
When did he become so pathetic?
The only slight comfort he had tonight was the fact that he wasn't alone. It really wasn't fair to bring a straight guy to a place like this, but at least every guy who had eyes on Steve was going to have to suffer in silence with him.
And some of them were kind of cute. Cute enough for Eddie to try and use one as a distraction. He was sitting next to a preppy looking guy, talking to him a little bit. Maybe he shouldn't have set his eyes on someone that kind of looked like Steve, but fuck it. His name was Andrew, and he was nice, a good flirt. The perfect diversion for when Eddie could tear his eyes away from Steve.
And things were actually getting a little interesting with him. He had his hand on Eddie's arm, leaning in to loudly whisper everything he said in Eddie's ear. He was smiling at him, close enough for Eddie to see the pretty gold flakes in his eyes.
They weren't as pretty as Steve's but they'd do.
Andrew tucked a bit of Eddie's hair back behind his ear, leaning in again. But he didn't go for his ear this time, no, he was zeroing in right to Eddie's lips. Not that he was complaining, he let it happen, a sweet, light kiss that had zero time to escalate to more.
Because suddenly, someone was tugging at his arm, hard enough to force Eddie's whole body back, nearly out of his chair. He blinked, more than a little startled to see Steve coming out of nowhere, clinging onto him with that stupid, gorgeous smile.
"Eddieeee," Steve whined, completely ignoring Andrew's presence, "Robin ditched me to make out with someone in the bathroom."
Eddie couldn't help but smile a little bit, despite the fact that he was definitely interrupting what was probably the first good thing about this night. He glanced over at Andrew, who was staring at them, wide-eyed before saying, "Uh, I didn't know you had a boyfriend."
"I don't-"
"I can't hear you in here," Steve loudly interrupted, looking adorably confused, "Come outside with me?"
If Eddie was smart, he would have gently pried Steve's hands off him before sending him off to find Robin. But...a drunk Steve was also a very cute and cuddly one. So fuck it, Eddie could find a rebound for his non-existent relationship next weekend.
He shrugged at Andrew, mouthing a quick apology at him before Steve started to drag him outside through the back door. Eddie half expected Steve to do his usual routine when he was toasted. Sweetly asking for a piggy back ride that Eddie literally could never refuse before falling asleep on his back. Then he'd get him in the car, wrangle Robin from wherever the hell she was, and they'd be off.
But the second they were stepping outside Steve was straightening up and stepping back, to Eddie's immediate confusion. He leaned against the wall, glaring at Eddie in a way he had never seen. Or at least directed at him.
"So," Steve started, his tone way too close to how he sounded when one of the kids pissed him off, "Who was that guy? You looked pretty cozy in there."
Eddie's brain was still struggling to catch up to the change in atmosphere here. But he tried to answer anyway, "I mean we were but-wait. Why are you not drunk? You were literally just-"
"It's called acting dipshit," Steve mumbled, crossing his arms in front of his chest. Which ow, rude. But his next words hurt even more, "Not like I have a choice, since you only seem to like me when I'm fucked up."
Eddie could feel his heart stop in his chest. He didn't-oh no. Oh god. Steve figured out he was a creep. A creep who was probably moments away from getting his ass handed to him.
Eddie swallowed, at a loss for what to say. But he still tried, "I-look dude it's um, it's not like that. I didn't- I wasn't trying to make you uncomfortable-"
"Then why the fuck would you kiss another guy right in front of me?"
Okay. That was enough of that. Yes, Steve could be mad about him being creepy, but no he couldn't be mad over having to bear witness for a gay kiss at a gay bar, "Well if I had known that you were apparently only okay with seeing girls kiss each other I wouldn't have come out tonight at all! Honestly Steve, how can you even say that? Like that is some real dumbass levels of homophobia, even for you. I thought the King Steve thing had died-"
"Shut the fuck up oh my god," Steve hissed out, "Are you really that damn dense? That's what you think I'm upset about? Are you fucking kidding me? And I'm the dumbass?"
"Then why are you mad?" Eddie half asked, half yelled.
“I’m not mad," Steve seethed, like he didn't look about five seconds away from choking Eddie out, "I...I just think you can choose better people to kiss.”
Maybe he really was drunk after all. Because now he wasn't making any damn sense.
Eddie pinched the bridge of his nose, beyond frustrated, "Who Steve? Like, I'm sorry to break this to you but not all of us can fucking look like you do alright? We're not all charming, golden Adonis basketball players okay? And sometimes you need to take what you can get. And there was nothing wrong with Andrew-"
"You think I look like a golden Adonis?" Steve interrupted, a weird expression on his face. He looked almost...hopeful? But that didn't make any sense.
"That's what you got out of that?" Eddie asked, exasperated, "I-come one dude. You know you're hot. But that's not my point."
"Well it's mine!" Steve groaned. He was biting his lips, a very distracting nervous habit that Eddie had picked up on, "Because what the fuck are we even doing? You think I'm so hot, so charming, so great, and you decide to kiss someone else in front of me? What the fuck is that? Do you like seeing me jealous? Do you get off on me pining? Please explain."
You see, that was the funny thing about Eddie's brain. One second he was lost, staring at Steve's red, bitten lips, and the next he was desperately trying to catch up with what just came out of his mouth. All of it the perfect blend to effectively shut his brain off completely.
Eddie stared at him, his words as dumb as how his face probably looked, "I-what? Huh?"
Steve narrowed his eyes at him, "Are we really doing this? Are you going to pretend like it's all in my head?"
"I-no. I just-please explain," Eddie is pretty damn sure he had never stuttered through a sentence that hard in his life.
"I've been coming on to you for months and you just keep giving me all of these mixed signals and..." Steve sighed, looking away, "I'm so sick of it Eddie. If you don't like me just say that! Stop whatever this is. Because it's mean and you know it. If you want a better option then just take it already and leave me alone."
He-what-that didn't even- Steve was straight, wasn't he? And now the stuttering had invaded his thoughts. Because if he actually understood all of that then...
He was the biggest idiot on the planet.
And his stunned silence was not helping anything.
Steve sighed, pushing himself away from the wall. He turned away, "I'm going to find Robin. We can just...act like this didn't happen I guess. I'm done."
Eddie had to give himself on thing, at least his body was working a lot faster than his brain. Steve barely had time to take a single step away before he was shooting his hand out to grab his wrist, stopping him in his tracks.
"I didn't know you were an option!" Eddie blurted out, his heart hammering in his chest, "I-Stevie I thought all of it was in my head. I-I thought that you were straight and we were just hanging out-"
"You think I sit in the laps of my other guy friends?" Steve asked, completely unimpressed, "While playing with their hair and calling them beautiful? Really, dude?"
Eddie nodded, sure and fast, "Steve, I had to do my senior year three damn times. I'm not always the smartest okay? And in my defense you never mentioned like dudes-"
"Yes I have," Steve interrupted, "When you came out to me, I told you to your face that I understand. That I could relate about hiding things and not talking about it. I literally said we were in the same boat. What else could that mean?"
Eddie remembered that, crystal clear. But..."I thought you were talking about PTSD, not secretly being into dudes."
"One dude," Steve corrected, but he was relaxing a little, thank fuck. Maybe Eddie could still fix this.
He took a deep breath, using his hold on Steve's wrist to pull him closer. His hands were fucking shaking, bad enough for Steve to almost certainly notice when he rested them on his hips.
This was it, he might as well be as clear as humanly possible, "I am so into you. Like a scary amount. Like I'm...borderline in love with you."
He was completely in love with him, but he didn't have the balls to say that bit out loud. He kept going, "And I didn't know you felt the same way. At all. Like I am dangerously close to having a stroke from hearing all of that. You kind of flipped my world upside down there."
Steve huffed out a laugh. Eddie may have fucked up everything leading up to this point, but Steve was eating his little speech right up. He shuffled a little closer, wrapping his arms around Eddie's neck with a small smile, "Keep going."
"I thought that I had no chance. I mean even tonight, people couldn't stop looking at you. And you got those numbers-"
"I threw them away," Steve interrupted, "You missed that part."
He had definitely missed that part, too caught up in his own head. But that didn't stop a smile from breaking out on Eddie's face, "Good. Because if you want me, you have me. I'm all yours, in any way you want me. Understand? Fuck, Stevie if I had known any of this we'd be the ones making out in the bathroom right now. And I'm sorry about..."
For the life of him Eddie couldn't remember his name, not when he had Steve smiling at him in his arms, "The other guy. But it literally means nothing to me. Not if I get to have you. Do...do I get to have you?"
Steve hummed, pretending to think about it while he played with a lock of Eddie's hair, "I guess that depends. Is making out in the bathroom still on the table?"
"Fuck yes it is."
Steve grinned, leaning up to press the sweetest little kiss to the side of Eddie's mouth, "Then I guess you have me then."

I love gay Eddie and bisexual awakening Steve. It's solid and popular for a reason. It works, makes a lot of sense.
But...I also love flirty-cluelessly-queer Eddie and comfortable-with-his sexuality Steve.
Eddie does flirt. With everyone. It was pretty clear he was flirting with Chrissy. He was flirting with Steve. Calling him big boy and getting up in his personal space, being all cutesy.
So, imagine Eddie just casually flirting with Steve and it doesn't mean anything to him. He's just being Eddie. He isn't even aware that it's flirting. He really considers it teasing. The man is dramatic and silly. He loves to make a scene. So "teasing" people is fun for him.
Eddie who is a super senior running a DnD club for outcasts, loves Lord of the Rings, plays in a metal band. I think Eddie is always into some sort of hyperfixation to be trying to bang chicks or dudes.
There was totally a phase were he was obsessed with folk and old country music (Woody Guthrie much). There was the Jane Austen phase (It fits, c'mon). The time he tried to learn to crochet. His lasting phase with fantasy novels. His intense love of metal music. He knows a lot about music in general. Obscure shit. Oh, those handcuffs-definitely from his magic phase. Tell me, 12 year old Eddie didn't want to be a magician. He probably did card tricks, the whole deal.
Eddie would be the kind of guy who'd spout all sorts of random knowledge. He probably has one specific time period in history he could rant about for hours.
The man has raging ADHD (takes one to know one). He's a self-professed nerd and outcast. The only thing that might be considered "cool" is that he plays in his band. But even then, he's a total nerd about it.
Eddie is hot as hell. That is undeniable. But Eddie has been too damn busy being a fucking nerd to date or hook up. I think he's so focused on his interests, it could easily not have been on his radar. Same way he's failed senior year twice in a row despite being smart as hell. The shit they are trying to teach doesn't interest him and that makes Eddie fucking struggle.
He's bouncy and hyperactive. He probably has terrible tunnel vision when he gets into a book or movie or campaign. Dating has thus far not been interesting enough especially combined with how he's treated by the people in Hawkins.
So, yeah- he flirts and teases. He thinks it's harmless fun. With Chrissy, it was a way to make her feel safe and lighten the mood. With Steve, it's a way to disarm him. It's King Steve afterall. Why not play up the metalhead freak persona. Let him think he's weird.
It isn't until Steve starts flirting back and gives Eddie butterflies that Eddie realizes this is not heterosexual behavior. And he knows a lot about that because he was accidentally flagging for a whole goddamn year. Because he wanted to look metal as fuck and thought the bandana was badass.
Steve calls Eddie princess. Calls him pretty boy. Throws in a babe. Everytime Eddie refers to him as big boy or Stevie, Steve just smirks and comes up with a new pet name that wrecks Eddie (who has no idea what is fucking going on). Throw in the boys getting high together with no inhibitions and Steve actively trying to romance him and Eddie's in a full blown sexuality crisis.
best part: Steve thinks Eddie is gay because of the bandana that he wore all year. Add in all the flirting and then Steve's really putting the moves on totally clueless Eddie. And say what you want about Steve, but he has game. I can just imagine Eddie trying to frantically figure out why all of the sudden he wants to make out with Steve "the hair" Harrington and Steve's like...aren't you gay?
(if anyone knows of steddie fics anything like this, please rec them!)

🍭—————🍭
Steve has this little thing he does and Eddie isn’t sure he realizes what it is. Or that he’s doing it. Or that it’s driving him absolutely insane.
Now, Eddie’s no stranger to fidgeting. That is definitely something he engages in as constantly as possible. He often shifts the guitar pick on his necklace. And he absentmindedly picks the threads on his jeans or he’ll plunge his finger back and forth in the button holes of his vest. Sometimes, he’ll use his index finger to trace the zipper teeth on the sleeves of his leather jacket. He’s just a texture guy, likes being able to feel things constantly. Shift them around. Give his fingers something to do in a moment of much needed distraction.
It’s just how his brain works. And he’s ninety-nine percent sure that Steve’s brain works similarly.
He puts things in his mouth. Yup. That’s what Steve does. That’s his thing. Sometimes it’s just his fingers. Nibbling away at his fingernails or tearing at hangnails, which can’t ever feel good. If he gets sauce on his fingers, he licks it off instead of using a napkin. (That one in particular has made Eddie flee to the bathroom several times. Can you blame a guy?)
The thing that’s going to kill Eddie, though, is this stupid cotton candy flavored Dum-Dum sucker Steve packed with his lunch. He’d come in to find a movie for him and Wayne to watch later that night, wanted to invite Steve over and that’s when he saw it. The sucker.
It began normally. “Hey, Stevie!” He had greeted. The door chimed above him. And Steve gave him a half-hearted wave from behind the counter. He was sitting on a metal stool, back towards the door, face down at the counter, sketching out things on the inventory list. A wobbling stack of—what appeared to be—horror tapes beside him. Fresh from delivery, most likely. Eddie paid no mind. Waltzed towards the westerns, standing idle in front of the movies momentarily as his eyes took in the sheer amount of Chuck Norris films, and found one he hoped Wayne hadn’t seen before. (Which, now that he thinks about it, is highly unlikely. He wouldn’t be surprised if Wayne went to him one day to say he was gay for Chuck Norris. He’s like an absent husband at the Munson’s.)
He rang the little service bell to get Steve’s help checking out. And nearly buckled at the knees. Steve’s lips were spit slick and lightly stained pink. It popped from out of his mouth, his lips a perfect ‘O’ shape. And his tongue was also a delicious bright pink. Eddie was so distracted by the whole display, he didn’t even realize that Steve was actually speaking. That his spit was more interesting than whatever bullshit Family Video regime he was mumbling.
“Huh?” Eddie dumbly said while blinking back to existence.
Steve chuckled. “I asked if that was all you needed today, Eds.”
I could think of something else, Eddie thought, still staring at Steve’s mouth. He shook his head, curls whipping about, hopefully covering the embarrassing flush on his cheeks. “No—I—This—Wayne wanted to kiss—I mean watch—“ Eddie stopped himself with a heaving sigh. “Yeah, this is all I need.”
He swallowed down the rest of what he wanted to say. Tried to cover for himself. But he was weak in the knees once more. The sucker went back into Steve’s mouth, lolling over his teeth, clinking. His tongue was probably doing gymnastics trying to savor the flavor of that stupid thing. Probably suckling around it. Mouth pooling with spit. Eddie forced himself to lean against the counter, palms spread and flat against the surface, head dipped down so that he couldn’t see his demise anymore. But that still didn’t stop his mind from wandering. Thinking about what Steve’s mouth probably tastes like, sugar sweet and oddly fruity. Didn’t stop the sudden flashes of make out sessions they could be having, hiding behind the ‘Adults Only’ curtain, pinned up against—
“Dude!” Steve suddenly shouted. And Eddie found his eyes back on Steve’s face, dipping low to his lips. That sucker was still in his mouth. And he was right, there’s so much spit. He wishes that was his tongue in—“Eddie, are you alright, man? Why do you keep looking at me like that?” He sounded nervous. Even a little…embarrassed.
Fuck, that’s not how he wants Steve to feel around him. He scolds himself mentally, again. Stop being a perv, he tells himself. But his musings are futile.
He sighed once more. “I’m fine,” he muttered, “tired, that’s all.” Gave his best smile, but completely shattered once more when Steve pulled the lollipop out of his mouth. A thin string of saliva connecting it to his lips. His tongue darting out to break it. He couldn’t stop staring. Couldn’t stop himself from yearning. Couldn’t help the way he leaned further over the counter, completely in Steve’s warm orbit, nearly nose to nose.
Steve nervously giggled, but he didn’t step away. In fact, he licked his lips, darted his eyes, and for some odd reason…his cheeks grew bright pink. “I—Eds, you’re really—“
“Why are you so pretty?” Bursted from Eddie. He groaned. “It’s really not fair. And you’re single? What the fuck is wrong with people?”
“Eddie, what are you—“
“You fucking lick a stupid sucker and now I’m losing my mind. What the hell,” Eddie murmured. “Like I just wanna—“ He quickly looked over his shoulder, the parking lot desolate through the windows, the aisles completely clean, and turned his gaze back at Steve. His hands jumped up from on the counter, grabbed the lapels of Steve’s stupidly cute pink polo, and pulled him in. “I’m gonna kiss you,” he whispered, “and you can kill me later for it.”
As Steve began to nod, Eddie surged forward. It wasn’t a pretty kiss. And it wasn’t a neat one, either. Steve’s lips were moist, sticky with sugar, and stupidly soft. He slipped his tongue out, licking between his lips, tasting cotton candy. And was slightly shocked when Steve let him in. Letting him taste inside his mouth. Trace his teeth, connect their spit, share that sucker.
When he pulled back, popping off of Steve’s bottom lip, he immediately dropped his hands. Horrible realization dawned on him. His eyes widened. Mouth dropping open. Cheeks flushing. “Fuck,” he spat. “I’m sorry, I don’t—That was—You’re my friend, I shouldn’t have done that.”
But as their eyes met, he let himself relax slightly. Steve’s eyes were wide, but glistening. Something soft about them. He was smiling, teeth, spit, pink stains and all. “I have been waiting months for you to do that,” he said simply.
“What,” Eddie could only muster, his voice distant with disbelief.
“I have been waiting months for you to do that,” Steve repeated. “You’re not a very subtle looker. But that was—Jesus Christ, I could like taste your yearning.” Eddie began to crumple. This was a bad idea, he briefly thought. Though Steve whispered, flirtatiously and in awe, “That was so fucking hot.”
Eddie hummed. He relaxed completely. Placing his hands back on the lapels of Steve’s shirt. Thumbs rubbing in circles over the fabric. It was scratchy under his fingertips, it felt good. He sighed through his nose. Smirked something teasing. “I was going to invite you over tonight for that movie,” Eddie began, voice low and husky. “But maybe we could leave Wayne to it and…I’ve got some room in my van. Go out to the quarry. Show me what else your mouth can do.”
For how much of a ladies man Steve Harrington supposedly is, he’s too easy to fluster. Going warm and bright red under Eddie’s gaze. Melting positively into the slight hold Eddie still has on him. “Okay,” he murmured, “What time?”
“As soon as your shift is over, come to mine. Bring yourself, this cute little polo, and your pretty mouth. I’ve got plans with you, sugar.”
Kissing Steve Harrington’s sucker sweet mouth is probably Eddie’s new favorite way of fidgeting. And he finds, much much later, that it fulfills needs for the both of them.

Look we all have to write the steddie flirting through DnD scene don't we?
Consider this a Christmas gift if you celebrate and something to do while everything's closed if you don't.
“How touchable are my boobs in this?”
“I think I’m falling in love with Eddie.” Steve replied. He had not meant to say that. He’d been helping Robin pick out clothes for her date with Vickie that night, and the thought had just hit him. Steve tried again. “Your boobs look great. Vickie will definitely want to slip her hands under that shirt.”
“Perfect.” Robin threw herself down on her bed next to Steve. “Let's go back a few seconds. Why do you think you’re falling for Eddie?”
“I stole one of Dustin’s old DnD manuals and I’ve been looking through it to figure out how their nerd game works. I bought my own copy of Sacred Heart. And I'm trying to read The Hobbit for the third time.”
He was forty-eight pages in, the farthest he’d made it yet. He might make it through the whole book this time, now that he’d decided he could skip the songs.
“Oh, it’s like when you studied for the SATs with Nancy!”
“Even though I’d already taken the exam. Exactly.” Steve sighed. “It’s been going on for weeks. How did I not notice until now?”
“Because you’ve spent most of your life purposefully ignoring it when you liked a guy.” Robin ruffled his hair. “Hey, at least finding him hot isn’t news, right?”
“Yay for small victories, I guess.” Steve fixed the mess Robin had made. “But what do I do about it?”
----------
A part of Steve had wanted to show up in his rattiest t-shirt and jeans, to do his best to blend in with the rest of the club. But it wasn’t like the other guys didn’t know who he was. And Steve wanted to find out if Eddie might like him, not some nerd that looked like him. So Steve wore a polo shirt and his best jeans. The only way he could have looked less like he belonged was if he’d pulled his letterman out from the back of his closet.
“Are you playing with us Harrington?” Eddie asked when Steve sat down at the table.
“Um, is that okay? Bobbie had a thing come up and she asked me to sub in for her.” Robin’s thing had been a second date with Vickie. At his house, so the girls could kiss without worrying about getting caught. Steve needing to spend four hours in the Wheeler basement gave them plenty of alone time, too. “I might need some help with the math, but Robs gave me a character sheet and some basic instructions.”
Eddie and his friends exchanged looks. Steve really hoped they weren’t going to tell him to get lost.
“Steve? You’re playing?” Dustin practically threw himself down the stairs when he saw Steve. “How did we finally convince you? Was it Robin? Where is she?”
“Robin’s busy. I’m her sub. If Munson’s cool with it?”
Faced with Dustin’s pleading eyes, Eddie didn’t stand a chance.
----------
Steve mostly kept quiet at first, observing how Eddie ran the game, what strategies the kids preferred to use. Mostly he let them make the decisions and when they were in combat he hit the biggest enemy with his morningstar until it stopped moving.
It felt kind of familiar, but way less painful.
After a little while, Steve thought he had the hang of it enough to try Robin’s plan.
“Wait a second,” he stopped Mike before they attacked the mysterious cloaked figure. “Isn’t everybody’s health kind of low?”
“We don’t have time to rest and heal, Steve.” Mike was being weirdly patient with him. “The enemy has already seen us.”
“Yeah, but I could try charming him instead of fighting. Robin said her character was supposed to be charming.” She’d had this long explanation about charisma that Steve hadn’t followed but she’d summed it up as flirt with the NPCs. “If I flirt with him, maybe he’ll let us by without a fight.”
“He’s a guy, Steve,” Dustin pointed out. “Robin’s character is also a guy.”
“Gay people exist.” One of the older Hellfire members, Steve thought his name was Gareth, spoke up. He hadn’t expected any of Eddie’s friends to help him out with this. The three of them had their eyes on Eddie.
Eddie wasn’t saying anything.
“He’s seduced at least one girl in every town we’ve passed through,” Lucas explained. “Usually two or three.”
“It’s kind of a running joke,” Will added.
“He could like both.” Steve said it with a casualness he did not feel. “Some people do.”
“Buckley’s not going to be upset you made her character a little gay?” Eddie asked him.
“Nah, she won’t mind.”
“Then roll for seduction.”
Right as he rolled, another of Eddie’s friends - Steve had missed his name during introductions - bumped into the table. The dice fell onto the floor and one rolled under the sofa.
This was apparently a catastrophe.
“We won’t be able to get the die without moving it! We’ll never know what you rolled!” Dustin whined.
“Couldn’t I just roll it again?” This was, for some reason, the worst question he could have asked, as it sparked a lecture on the sacred and inviolable nature of the dice rolls.
“Have him role play it,” Jeff suggested. Eddie shot his friend a dirty look.
Steve briefly wondered if Robin had been talking with the older members of Hellfire, but that didn’t seem likely. They wouldn’t have any reason to help him out.
“I don’t mind.”
“If that’s what you want.” Eddie shrugged. “Show us you can be as charming as your character.”
“I’m pretty sure I’m exactly as charming as Sir Dingus des Cheveux.” Steve wasn’t sure if he should be flattered or disturbed by how much Robin’s character was based on him. Though it certainly made playing him easier. “Tell me what I see.”
“I already did. Cloaked figure, no obvious weapon.”
“Yeah, that’s what I’d notice if I was looking for a fight. Can I see his hair? His face? His eyes?”
“Um, his hood is up, so no.” Right. Eddie was going to make this difficult.
“Okay so I step forward and I stand, uh, shit. It’s hard to describe.” Steve could be just as difficult. “Can we act it out?”
“Act it out?”
“I mean the NPCs are all you, right? So if you could stand in for this guy?” A lot of flirting was physical and, for Steve, automatic. He didn’t know exactly what he was doing until he was doing it.
“Do it, Eddie.”
“Yeah.”
“I’ve always wanted to see The Hair at work.”
Eddie’s friends egged him on. Lucas nodded along with them. Dustin had grabbed a blank sheet of paper and seemed prepared to take notes. Will seemed somewhere between uncomfortable and fascinated. Only Mike looked unhappy about it, but that was just how Mike was.
Date a guy’s sister for a year and not even saving his life could make him smile at you.
Eddie rose from his seat.
“Okay, Harrington. Charm me.”
Steve stepped forward, until he was almost close enough to touch Eddie.
“Hi,” he said, tilting his head to one side. He smiled a slightly goofy smile that he knew invited teasing. “What’s a nice boy like you doing in a dungeon like this?”
Eddie burst out laughing.
“Seriously? That’s what you’re starting with?”
“Is that you or the character laughing?” Steve asked.
“Both.”
“You have a beautiful laugh.” Steve spoke in character. Eddie stopped laughing, surprised. “I bet your face is just as lovely.”
“He pushes his hood back to reveal the face of a drow. The face is not lovely, but scarred. One particularly nasty scar on his right cheek creates the illusion of a smile. He says, You lose.”
“I don't know about that.” Steve stepped a little closer and lifted his hand. “May I?”
Eddie nodded.
Steve pushed Eddie's hair away from his face, lightly brushing Eddie's scars. Taking care that the back of his thumb caressed the most prominent one, the one that tugged down the corner of Eddie's lip and gave his smile a permanent look of irony.
“You have the most expressive eyes I've ever seen,” Steve murmured. Eddie pulled back.
Shit. That wasn't in character. Steve tried again.
“I think I won, but I wouldn’t want to contradict anyone with such enchanting eyes.” He dropped the smile but kept the teasing tone. “What do I lose?”
“Your life,” Eddie replied, but his heart clearly wasn't in it.
“You don't want to kill me.” Steve’s smile widened. He'd won this round as soon as Eddie had laughed. “If you’re having trouble thinking up a forfeit, can I suggest a kiss?”
“Okay, okay,” Eddie said with another laugh. “You have successfully seduced the drow. He does not attack your party, or summon reinforcements. Your one night stand allows for a long rest. Because the drow is a cleric of Loviatar, you only recover half your health.”
“Worth it.” He winked at Eddie before sitting back down at the table. “Sir Dingus had an excellent time. Is there a fantasy version of asking for a guy’s number? In case I have to sub in for Rob again?”
He didn’t want to saddle Robin’s character with a boyfriend when Robin had been using him to flirt with girls, but he didn’t want to leave Eddie with the impression that Steve moved on from people as quickly as Sir Dingus did.
“The life of an adventurer is hardly conducive to long term relationships.” That did not answer Steve’s question. “But, he tells you his name is Ghauntel Kenduis and should he see you again, he will remember yours.”
--------
Dungeons and Dragons was not the worst way to spend an afternoon. The combat was kind of boring, and the bickering over what the party was going to do next made Steve sympathize with the guys who’d stuffed nerds into lockers.
Okay, DnD was not his thing at all and the only thing he really enjoyed about it was getting to flirt with Eddie.
Steve slid his hand over the scars on Eddie's neck. Slowly, carefully, he brought their lips together for a kiss.
Well, Eddie’s characters, which wasn’t exactly the same thing. And after that first time, he hadn’t had to do nearly as much roleplaying. But it was still fun.
“You kept breaking character,” Eddie commented when the game was finished for the day.
“What do you mean?” The kids had, unsurprisingly, vanished upstairs as soon as it was time to clean up. A little more surprising was that the rest of Hellfire had also cleared out, leaving Steve and Eddie alone.
“When you would flirt. You kept losing the characters. You’ve never played before, so flirting with me instead of my NPCs would be an easy mistake to make. Or…” Eddie trailed off. “Nah, you’re just bad at the game.”
“I mean, I am. And breaking character wasn’t something I tried to do on purpose.” Steve stepped close to Eddie again. Close enough to reach out and touch him. “But I kept doing it because I wanted to flirt with you.”
“Why?” Eddie asked. “I'm a freak and kind of an asshole a lot of the time. And I’m not exactly a pretty face these days.”
“Well, it turns out that weird and passionate nerds are kinda my type.” And Steve was sick of dating girls who weren't his type. “May I?”
Wordlessly, Eddie nodded.
Again, Steve pushed Eddie's hair back, tucking it behind his ear. Eddie leaned into Steve's touch.
“You really do have the most expressive eyes. I wish you didn't feel like you have to hide them.”

~~~
Robin always struggled with reading girls. She couldn't separate friendliness from flirting. She couldn't tell if a girl was straight or gay. And that burned Robin a lot in the past. Always falling for the girls that are straight and never interested. Sadly, Robin was used to always being rejected.
With her latest crush, she ran into the same problem. Y/N was the sweetest girl Robin has ever met. Her voice was velvety and soft. Her smile was always bright and inviting. She was gorgeous, smart, and talented. It was easy for Robin to get sucked into her. But Robin could not tell if Y/N was just wanting to be friends or maybe something more.
Y/N was always quick to compliment Robin and it made her head spin. A new shirt? Y/N noticed. Did Robin cut her hair? Y/N noticed. Robin couldn't tell if she was just that great of a friend or if maybe Y/N liked her the way Robin did.
Chrissy was throwing a party, and the whole school was invited. Robin dragged Steve along because her anxiety could not handle a house full of people that wouldn't know who she even was. She didn't even plan to go until she heard Y/N talking about how she was going.
So now Robin stood in the corner, eating at her lips as she searched the party for the familiar face. And she found that face smashed against Eddie Munson's in a heated kiss.
Robin shouldn't have been surprised that she stroke out again, but she really wanted Y/N to be into her. Her stomach turned watching as her hands dove into Eddie's hair and his hands landed on Y/N's ass. The two were going at it like no one else was in the room. With a sad sigh, she asked Steve to take her home.
~~~
Robin avoided seeing Y/N all weekend but knew there was no escaping her at school. Robin convinced herself to just get over it and move on.
But once she caught sight of Y/N, it all went out the window. She felt like someone was twisting her stomach in knots.
"Hey Rob, I didn't see you at the party and you haven't answered my calls. Are you okay?" Y/N asked worriedly as she checked Robin over. Robin tried to ignore how red her face was burning up. Coughing as she backed up. She prayed her freckles covered the blush across her cheeks.
"Yeah, I got there then I felt sick so I went home and slept the whole weekend." Robin lied, hoping her lie sounded convincing. The concern is Y/N's eyes grew.
"I could have come over and helped you," Y/N said, reaching forward to feel Robin's forehead.
"It's fine. How was the party?" Robin asked, she already knew Y/N had a great time.
"It was alright, nothing really happened." Y/N shrugged
Robin's mouth moved faster than her brain.
"What about making out with Eddie?" Robin asked, immediately freezing when the question went past her lips. She was an idiot.
"How did you know about that?" Y/N asked curiously
Robin's mind blanked, blinking rapidly as she searched every part of her brain for a response.
"Gossip" Robin blurted out, swallowing hard as Y/N looked her over. With a slight nod, Y/N accepted the answer.
"I was drunk, he was drunk, and that was it." Y/N shrugged like it was no big deal.
Truthfully it was not a big deal. They were both single and welcome to kiss each other, but it killed Robin on the inside.
She thought of Y/N's lips all the damn time. Imagined countless times how soft her lips would feel. And it stung that Eddie got to find out.
~~~
Over the next few days, Robin tried her best to seem fine. Trying to hang out with her best friend like nothing changed between them. But the rejection was too fresh and it showed in Robin's eyes every time she looked at Y/N's lips.
It also caused Robin to snap at Eddie more than ever. She couldn't handle being in the same room with him, she just wanted to punch him, bust his lip open and watch it bleed.
Eddie picked up on the glares Robin constantly sent in his direction. He called her out and Robin surrendered. Telling Eddie all about her feelings for Y/N, and how badly it hurt to see him kiss her.
Eddie felt sorry for the girl. Seeing your crush on someone else was never a good feeling and it took forever to move on from it. And Eddie did not want to stand in her way. He made sure to clear Robin's worry of Eddie liking her. Agreeing with Y/N that it was a one-time drunk moment.
~~~
But Robin knew the same thing would happen over and over. Y/N won't be single forever, one day she will meet someone. Robin could sit and wait for that day, and suffer before it even happens with the what-ifs. Or admit her feelings...Robin chose to suffer.
The one thing Robin never did was tell her best friend she was gay, and she felt like it was time to admit that to her. Maybe it would ease her mind and help her move on. She wasn't sure how it would help her move on, but she already lied to herself that it would.
And that was when she found out her own best friend liked girls too.
"It's okay, Rob. I like girls too, and I wouldn't love you any different."
But Robin was stuck on the fact that her crush admitted she also liked girls. Robin had an opening, all she had to do was take it....she didn't.
Y/N did though, shyly scooting closer to Robin as she nudged her knee against Robin.
"Any girls in your mind?" Y/N asked, a shy smile on her face. Robin could sometimes be clueless, and Y/N had a feeling she would look way over Y/N's head.
"For a second then I get distracted by something else." Robin shrugged, her answer was painfully honest.
Y/N felt herself laughing at the girl, Robin was too cute for her own good.
"Well I have a girl in my mind and she stays there the whole time, and I never get distracted from her," Y/N said
Robin tried to sound supportive but was never good at hiding her annoyance.
"Who's the lucky girl?" Robin sassed out, crossing her arms over her chest.
"She's you." Y/N smiled, reaching down to squeeze Robin's knee.
"Um huh?" Robin asked, she turned to look at Y/N, confusion clear in her eyes.
Y/N rolled her eyes, smirking as she leaned in.
"This okay?" She whispered against Robin's lips.
Feeling Y/N's breath hit her lips had her in a trance, Robin's body froze and she licked her dry lips.
"Yes," She choked out, her voice cracking as Y/N leaned closer and closer.
Y/N smiled at the answer, pressing her lips against Robin's in a soft but passionate kiss.
Eddie Munson had nothing on Robin now.

And another average day at Family Video:
"No you literally can't"
"Of course you can, dingus! Some are just classics!"
"Well, and some go to Family Video to browse and randomly choose movies they know nothing about!"
"But doesn't that further prove my point?! Why would someone choose a movie solely by the cover if the cover is just a hot person?!"
"Well you said that Rocky Horror is also a queer classic and me and Tommy chose that one at random back when we were both assholes. If you'd flirted with Carol then you probably would have been hate-crimed."
"That is not a word"
"Well good thing I don't work in a fucking library then"
They glare at each other. If this was another genre, this story would end in a fight to the death. As things are, they are just two best friends getting unnecessarily heated while fighting about nothing. To be fair, it's more entertaining than watching the same two questionable movies over and over again.
Robin crosses her arms. "Okay. So just, let me repeat. To make sure I understood. You - who have admitted that you would sleep with Jonathan and Eddie if the chance arose and made out with Tommy multiple times - watched Rocky Horror Picture Show with Tommy, who may I remind you - you made out with multiple times, which once again, fucking ew-"
"Hey! He was the one who suggested it first!"
"And then you have the audacity to say that Rocky Horror Picture Show isn't gay?!"
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M FUCKING SAYING. If one were to see the cover with no context and decided to rent it just to see what it is about-"
"You mean the cover of Tim Curry in drag?!"
"Yeah well, Tommy was the one who chose the movie, and he is straight. So."
"Didn't you just say that Tommy was the one who wanted to kiss you first?!?"
Steve rolls his eyes so hard it's a wonder they stay safely inside their socket. "Yeah, but that's just the normal amount of same-sex attraction every straight dude has. That was just boys being boys. If that made someone gay, the whole basketball team would be full of queers"
"First of all, I will be coming back to that last bit later-"
"You? Coming for the all-male basketball team? Never thought I'd see the day"
He can admit that he probably deserves the kick against his shin.
"Focus, dingus! Let me just repeat what you just said. And I want you to think about it carefully, okay?! So in your words, a boy kissing another boy is not gay, unless one of the boys acknowledges that that is gay?"
"Uhm, duh?"
"So you and Tommy kissing was... straight?"
"I mean. No. Because I have now realized that I am not straight which retroactively makes the making out sessions gay"
Robin thumps her head against the counter. She takes a deep breath and does it again for good measure.
"I- oh my god. Okay. Just. Think about what you just said, okay? Think about it carefully. Think about it while you rewind that stack of tapes."
"Hey isn't it your turn?"
"Wrong thing to think about! You do that while I clean this...already clean counter. Again."
He gives her the stink eye but does as he is told.
They change topics. Robin tells him about the newest gossip in band. It is surprisingly intense. Just like Robin is also intense. Maybe only intense people go to band. Or maybe playing an instrument makes you intense? Well, he has a band member right here, so he asks, and they spend the next half an hour making fun of various instruments. The gay-jokes-whiteboard gains a lot of new points.
Both are laughing so hard they don't even realize they have a customer until the girl is standing in front of the counter, "The Wizard of Oz" in her hands. Steve raises a brow. Do you think this one is gay too? Robin nods to the snap hook hooked to her trousers holding her keys. Duh. He rolls his eyes. I also do this all the fucking time. It's convenient, okay?! It means nothing. Robin only looks at him with a deadpan look. You are literally further proving my point.
It is then that it clicks. "Oh my god it was gay! What the fuck?!"
Robin's face falls. He hears a gasp from somewhere behind him. Oh yeah. They were not alone in the shop right now. Fuck.
Steve thinks he vaguely recognizes her. He never talked to her, but it is hard to miss her bright red hair. Her name was....Vinnie? Or something? Right??
She looks down to her snap hook. It seems like she is going to run out of the shop at any moment. But then she takes a deep breath and looks up again, determination in her eyes. "Are you...are you also a friend of Dorothy?"
Robin's eyes shine. Steve goes to the back to have his mental breakdown in peace.
Steve isn't sure how much time passes before he dares to come out again. Vanessa (?) is gone and Robin looks incredibly smug.
He sighs. A true man knows when to admit defeat. "Okay. Maybe you had a point. With Tommy."
Her smile widens even more. "Only Tommy?"
"And the basketball team. And Valerie."
She frowns. "Who the fuck is Valerie."
"The girl who just left? Red hair? Also in band I think? Friend of Dorothy or whatever?"
"Her name is Vicky."
"Hey, I got the first letter right. If you expect much more from me you are seriously deluding yourself."
Robin rolls her eyes. They continue working in silence, but there is a tension in the air that hasn't been there since Robin first came out to him. Steve is not a very patient dude, but he can wait as long as it takes when it regards someone he cares about. And so he does.
"...Hey Steve?"
"Yes Robin?"
"I- I know we talk about it relatively openly here because it's always deserted when we have a shift together for some reason. But for the love of god, you need to be more careful. Okay?! The thing with Vicky was a lucky shot-"
"You mean your future girlfriend?~"
She pinches his lower back. Everybody looks at them weird when they do that, but it is very effective. The skin is still tender where they got their matching tramp stamps and it hurts like a bitch.
"I'm serious."
He looks at her. Sees the fear in her eyes. And he nods. I know. I promise. I'm sorry. He doesn't have to say it out loud for Robin to understand him. She knows that he means it, that he will probably be overly careful for a few weeks before they find a comfortable middle ground again. That he would never betray her trust. That is the reason they are soulmates, after all.
He isn't angry when she still asks him for reassurance anyway. "I promise", he says, more serious than he has been all day. They are both getting better at that, asking for verbal affirmation.
Another customer comes in. It's a cute girl. She rents the new Tom Cruise movie and Robin finally gets to take out the you-suck-board again.
"Okay, but did you really never realize that making out with other boys is kind of fruity?! Did I literally have to spell it out for you?"
"Hey! You yourself said that it's hard to 'break out of a heteronormative mindset' and shit. Plus, this is actually my second shift. And I used my break to drive you from school to work. So like, cut me some slack"
"Steve! I told you to stop taking double shifts all the time! No wonder you look so exhausted dingus"
"Well, Buckley, I would. But as I am sure you are fully aware Dustin's birthday is in two weeks and I need money to buy him that stupid nerd-thingie he's obsessing about-"

Grief
Steve had always considered himself a straight man. He knew Eddie wasn't straight, the man had been constantly flirting with him over the last week and he wasn't exactly shy about it. He wasn't exactly sure if Eddie was gay or bisexual, but he did know that Eddie wasn't straight. And Steve. Well, amid the Upside Down and trying to keep Max alive and figuring out Vecna and what to do, had been having a sexuality crisis. Because like it or not, he found Eddie attractive.
Eddie had an infenctious energy, and despite everything the man had been through he kept a smile on his face, the one that showcased his cute little dimples, the one that lit up his whole face, that made his beautiful chocolate brown eyes sparkle with amusement and excitement. And Eddie's flirtation had been heavy. And admittedly, Steve couldn't bring himself to put an end to the flirting, and maybe he'd flirted back a little. Eddie was beautiful, Steve couldn't deny it. More often than not, he was finding excuses to talk to Eddie, excuses to touch Eddie, excuse to look at Eddie. Specifically excuses to stare at Eddie's lips.
His entire conversation where Eddie had encouraged him to get Nancy back had barely even been registered because he couldn't stop staring at Eddie's lips. They were soft, pink and full, the kind of lips that looked like they would be heaven to kiss. And thinking back, this wasn't the first time that he'd wanted to kiss a man, though he'd pushed those feelings aside as quick as they came.
Sure, there had been a brief moment when Tommy Hagan was beating the shit out of him, that he'd wanted to kiss him. And maybe back then Steve would've been a bit homophobic. But then he met Robin, and she became his best friend, and he'd grown as a person, he became an ally. There was a brief moment where he'd even wanted to kiss Jonathon Byers, because despite how they'd started out, Byers was a good guy.
Then there was Billy. Billy Hargrove who was wild and untamed and yes. Attractive. And he'd called him King Steve, and he'd be lying if he said that didn't do something to him. And now there was Eddie. Eddie who was also a little wild and chaotic, but not in a bad way. In an adorable way, and Steve never thought he would find himself calling Eddie Munson of all people, adorable. But he was. Adorable, pretty, beautiful. Gorgeous even.
And this is how Steve got to where he was now. He'd mulled over his feelings, his thoughts, and he'd come to the conclusion, that while he wasn't straight, he wasn't gay either. He was in between. Bisexual. Eddie looked just as pretty as ever, his bandana wrapped around his head, his trademark black ripped jeans with a studded belt, an army green puffy vest thrown over his black leather jacket and his Hellfire Club shirt, and the makeshift shield and spear settled on his back.
"Hey, if anything goes south, I mean at all. You abort. Ok? Don't try to be cute or. Be a hero. You guys are just...."
"Decoys, we know. Don't worry Steve. You can be the hero," Dustin says, cutting him off.
"Absolutely, I mean look at us. We are nooooooot hero's," Eddie replied.
"Ok. Good."
Steve couldn't resist a glance at Eddie. Taking him all in, definitely checking him out, before he knew he had to go. So reluctantly he turned around. Before he could take a step, he heard Eddie step forward.
"Hey Steve?"
Steve turned back around, eyes locking on Eddie, who looked nervous, like he wanted to say something but ultimately decided not to and said something else.
"Make him pay."
Steve gave a nod and started walking away. And then his heart started pounding, something told him that he should take his chance now or he would regret it later.
"Steve, what are you doing?" Nancy says when Steve turned around, yet again.
But Steve ignored her, and with enough courage and confidence as he could muster he strode right up to Eddie, grabbed him by his jacket to pull him in. And kissed him. Eddie's lips were exactly what Steve imagined they would be, better even.
He could faintly hear the surprise of Dustin, Nancy and Robin and for a brief moment Eddie was frozen, but then he was kissing him back, his hands finding Steve's own jacket to tug him closer. It wasn't a long kiss, but it was everything Steve needed. He hadn't read it wrong, the flirting had been real, and the kiss had honestly felt like coming home, a sensation that was new to Steve, but very welcome. Steve gently broke the kiss.
"Stay alive ok?"
Eddie gave a nod, his adam's apple bobbing slightly.
"You too."
Finally they let go of each other and Steve left with Nancy and Robin to go to the Creel house.
(Just a little snippet from a one shot I posted on Wattpad. I haven't seen anyone put this into a scene and I've had this idea for a few days so I finally wrote it down. I might put ir up on AO3 but for now I'll give you this little snippet and post the Wattpad link for the rest of the one shot. If you guys want to request a Steddie one shot feel free to let me know and I'll write one up for you)

Enlightening conversation I just had with my mom:
Mom: "I don't understand the whole House and Wilson thing. I mean, Lord help me, I watched that entire show and I never thought they were more than just really good friends!"
Me: "Okay but what about the whole episode where they pretended to be gay to mess with a neighbor and Wilson actually proposed to House, or the b plot where House is trying to get Wilson to furnish their apartment without letting a woman to tell him what to do and Wilson is like 'but you're telling me what to do' and House is like 'and?' or what about that time House told a woman he was thinking about Wilson while having sex with her?"
Mom, nodding: "No it's just that there's no tv shows anymore where two male leads can just be really good friends. House and Wilson's friendship is so deep it transcends into brotherhood." (dear readers please keep in mind she's also said this in the past about Dean and Castiel and Steve and Bucky)
Me: "Do you think my friendship with [best friend of multiple years who I regularly flirt with and have kissed a couple times and am constantly in a 'will they won't they' battle with and we were both a big reason the other came out as queer, all of which my mom knows] is so deep it transcends into brotherhood?"
Mom: "...Yes."

My Beautiful Boy <3
╔═════════✦═════════╗
Pairing - Eddie Munson x Male reader
Requested - No
Warnings - None, just fluff
A/N - Changing up my format a bit, didn't really like the look of it before, plus this gives me space to add warnings.
╚═════════✦═════════╝
Being gay in Hawkins was risky, to say the least. Say the wrong thing or flirt with the wrong person and you could be putting your life on the line. Luckily, you were now mainly in the clear, only having to keep your relationship on a low profile in public and hidden from judging eyes.
You had met your now boyfriend in your senior year, in your shared fourth-period chemistry class. He had strutted into class on that first day and plopped down next to you. Eddie still swears up and down that you're the sole reason he passed chemistry that year, but he was trying really hard so you think credit goes to both of you.
You graduated that year, but even with your help, Eddie still got held back a second time. He was honestly more than a little devastated he didn't get to walk the stage with you, but you promising to be there for him when he finally does graduate, comforted him.
The two of you didn't actually start dating until the summer after you graduated. You had been working a job with Steve and Robin at the local Family Video. Eddie popped in for visits and occasionally on your breaks to drop you off some lunch when you forgot your own. The mutual pinning didn't go unnoticed by Robin. She pushed you to ask him out, and so did Steve, though with significantly more annoyance in his tone, once he eventually figured out what was going on.
When you finally, finally, decided to take the leap of faith and ask him out, Eddie was ecstatic. He had literally gripped you by the shoulders to look you in the eye and say yes. His stupid grin and bright eyes from that day will forever be engraved in your memory.
And that leads you to here and now.
Laying in bed, late into the night, thinking of Eddie Munson and his stupid face. You could feel your cheeks ache a bit, which is how you realized you were unconsciously smiling at your thoughts, enough to make your muscles burn at the strain.
You're quickly startled out of your thoughts at a pattering knock at your window. You knew it was Eddie at the familiar rhythm he drummed every time he did this, sneaking over in the dead of night to visit.
You sit yourself up, walking over to the window, and indeed see your dork of a boyfriend smiling back at you. You unlock the window and slide it open, stepping back to let him in. He fumbles through the window, almost tripping over himself, but ending up catching himself. Once he is fully balanced again, he sticks his hands straight up into the air as if to "stick the landing" as he had explained before. He then dramatically bows, one hand on his chest and the other stuck out.
"Good evening, sire. As always, it's an honor to be in the presence of your darling face," he speaks, looking up at you through his lashes. You roll your eyes at the whole gesture but can't help the smile on growing your face.
"What the hell are you doing here, Munson?" You ask, though you already know the answer seeing as it's the same every time he comes.
"I missed you of course, why else? Now," he pauses, his hands now on his hips and a crooked grin on his face. "I believe there are some cuddles in order."
At this, he then walks over to you, scooping his arms under yours in a hug and walking you both back over to your bed in a weird penguin-like fashion. Your giggles fill the silence of the room as he drops back onto your bed with you coming down with him.
You eventually position yourselves where you're facing each other, his eyes closed and his hand resting gently on your hip with yours carding its way through his hair as you admire his face. He hums contently at the feeling of you scratching lightly at his scalp before you move your hand. You gently place your finger between his brows before tracing down the slope of his nose. His face twitches at the feeling, morphing into a small look of amusement and partial confusion as he peeks his eyes open to peer at you.
"What was that for?" He asks, barely above a whisper. You shrug and move your palm to rest on his cheek.
"I just think you're beautiful," Your words were spoken softly, thumb caressing his cheekbone as you look at him with pure adoration.
"Gasp, a compliment?! I'm touched." Though he plays it up, you can't help but smirk at the burning feeling of his cheek under your palm. Though you can't see his blush in the dark, you can definitely feel it. You slide your eyes shut, leaning closer to the boy in front of you and connecting your lips tenderly. You feel his grip on you tighten ever so slightly as your lips mold together. Nothing in your life has felt more right than this moment, right now.
You pull away from Eddie, opting to move closer to him, placing your face against his neck. You feel his arm glide from your hip to your back and you move your arm to his, pulling him closer to you. You place a feather-light kiss on the skin your mouth is touching before muttering three words.
"My beautiful boy." With that, you feel his grip on you tighten around you once more, before you drift off against him.

Steve's parents were absent when he was growing up yes we know this is true and so he imprinted on Hawkeye Pierce as the only stable and reliable male role model in his life (circa 1972-1983). THIS is why he doesn't realize his bisexuality is not the standard for everyone because, in my humble queer "grew up watching MASH thinking BJ and Hawkeye are married" opinion, Hawkeye is a fruity little guy. absolute icon of a bisexual. Like obviously so many characters are Queer Icons in Mash (Klinger is Very Obvious and yes I'm in love with him and yes he was an Important Experience for baby me what about it. But also. Henry Blake I see you. Margaret Houlihan you should kiss a woman about it.) BUT Hawkeye is 1) arguably the Main Character 2) openly flirts with men/indicates he is Down To Bone if they are so inclined/implies he is Babygirl Material (??? Legitimately catches me off guard rewatching he's so obvious. Sir! This is a hospital! You have your hands inside a person's guts!) 3) was definitely in love with both Trapper and BJ (I am not taking comments about this at any time) 4) very much Cool Uncle shaped and begging to be imprinted upon by baby gays.
And while YES obviously I believe Klinger was Steve's First Celeb Crush because man's got a Type, he ain't subtle, Hawkeye was the one that ingrained that it's Totally Normal And Straight To Want To Flirt With Men into baby Steve's brain. Like of course Hawkeye was in love with BJ you just don't talk about it for some reason. He doesn't know. Gay people are because they act a certain way? Because they're only attracted to their own gender? He isn't sure and he's not thinking too hard about it. And that's his role model!! Hawkeye is the best! Sure Colonel Potter is the most Horse girl Dad Man of anyone ever, but Hawkeye is So Shaped.
So when he comes out to Robin in a totally bizarre manner ("Robin. Was. Was Mash gay?" "Steve. Babe. what are you talking about." "Like, Hawkeye and BJ? They were kinda gay right? And Hawkeye definitely said stuff that implied he liked men. I am wondering if that's a gay thing." "Steve. Usually when a man likes other men it's a gay thing." "So Mash is gay" "I have no clue. I mean. Klinger was kinda fruity, right? So... Maybe?" "Hm. Huh. Okay so like. Hawkeye liked women right?" "Yes. I do recall he was certainly interested in women" "yeah and he had that girlfriend who didn't want to marry him. But he also liked men. Is that a thing? He had that lady-ex but was also in love with BJ. I thought everyone was like that." "W-why? Why would you think that?" "Because Hawkeye did! And so do I! You know I didn't have many positive male role models in my life so I just assumed that's how Being Straight was." "Steve I love you but being attracted to anyone but someone of the opposite gender is, to me, a decidedly Not Straight thing to do." " "That's what I'm saying, rob! Mash was kinda gay, and so am I!") He speeds past queer crisis directly into "I can't believe I could have been dating boys this whole time too why didn't anyone tell me this earlier." While Robin is bewildered as to how Steve gaslight gatekeep girlbossed his way into and immediately out of the closet.

I'm a Bisexual a Steve, Nancy and Johnathan girlie first and foremost, but I've been thinking about the potential for Steve and/or Nancy not even knowing being homosexual was an option for them. The whole "yes, I've dated the opposite gender but never felt quite right about it". As an ace aro person that has "been there-done that", I'm really interested in the topic.
So, have a little gay Steve steddie ficlet with some bisexual Eddie, because why not (I usually headcanon him as gay but you know, thought it could be funny for this fic). Probably will do a Nancy one too.
Warnings for uses of queer as a slur, 80's general homophobia, and internalized homophobia. Also long post :
Steve has always been into girls. Obviously. He's Steve "The Hair" Harrington, king of Hawkins High. He's been suavely flirting his way through half the school's population since day one. The female half, obviously.
It was something that made his dad proud of him in ways only basketball and swimming had before. "That's my boy!" He'd said anytime Steve related his latest conquest. His son being a Lady's man was another badge of honor on the list. Sure, his Steve wasn't the brightest, but he was charismatic in that way only True Men of Business were. He did not need to know that Steve was simply copying those same men.
At first it came naturally. He wanted to emulate his heroes. His father, the movie characters the were "the only true Men left in this dammed country" according to his dad, the movie stars he laughed with, telling little Steve "now that's what I call charm!".
So Little Stevie got the message, just like he'd gotten the message that he had to be good at sport and all the other things his parent's love was condiotional upon. It was only natural, all parents wanted to be proud of their children. It was the child's job to make them proud, but instead of money they payed in love. So easy even little Stevie could understand it. He simply followed the instructions.
Girls came after that, and really, it was more of a side effect than anything else. The men he looked up to always knew how to sweep girls off their feet: just a little sweet talk and a shiny smile. He had not put a lot of thought into what happened afterwards though, he was just a kid after all.
Soon enough, he understood that his parents thought it was great that their little Romeo was the most popular boy in school. More so when the mothers started gossiping about "what a suave little cassanova the Harringtons have!". His mother fawned and chuckled with them, clearly loving the compliments her son received.
So Cassanova it was. He learned soon enough that dating had its own set of rules, just like friendships and sports and school and dressing. He needed to keep this perfect balance between easy to fall for and hard to obtain. When he became a teenager he understood his father found his salacious stories about making out with girls funny, but that he would not approve just any girl. If he was to bring anyone home for a proper dinner, she had to be pretty, rich, soft spoken, smart but not smarter than his dad, christian, dressed appropriately...the list went on and on.
He thought he figured it out with Nancy, because Nancy was great. She was his first big love, the girl she actually enjoyed spending time with. Most of the others had been an exhausting amount of acting the part, pretending to be interested in things that bored him off his mind, and actually getting some pretty decent validation from feeling desired.
But not Nancy. She was actually fun to be around! Nancy always had a dozen new topics she was passionate about and could spend hours on end rambling about them while Steve thought about how lucky he was to have found a girl that didn't felt like chore.
His father was not thrilled. Apparently she was "decent enough", but he assured Steve that her Know-it-all tendencies would end up driving him up the wall soon enough. Steve hoped it wouldn't. It had been hard enough to find a balance between who he was expected to date and who he enjoyed dating.
Intimacy with Nancy was something he simultaneously looked forward and was terrified of. Seducing girls was half the job of. He also had to learn how to "rock their world" or else his reign would be a short one. He knew girls gossiped, they made sure to lock eyes with him before whispering in their friends ears and coyly waving at him giggling. So he studied the subject with the same feverish intensity he'd studied how to get his hair right. And the feeling of accomplishement he got from it was almost reward enough.
Nancy was a different story, you see. She was the one. She was the future Steve was hoping for, the mother of his kids. And he was dreading getting to third base with her. What if it felt like a chore? Spending time with Nancy had never felt like that, but what if the sex part was awful? He always got the impression the girls were getting way more out of it than he was, and he just wanted to feel like them for once. So when it all came to shit, he blamed it on the Demogorgon.
It wasn't Nancy's fault, nor his. It was just so incredibly awkward to do the dirty when the last time you did, your girlfriend's bestie got murdered! So they decided to take it slow, and Steve couldn't be more grateful. Their first time hadn't been so bad, it's just he had trouble remembering with all the upside down bullshit and Johnathan Byers punching him.
Johnathan was a queer. That's what his father had called him, so Steve called Johnathan a queer. That's the way the world worked. Steve understood enough about them: They were weird, they didn't like girls, they tried to ruin the people that were actually normal, and they carried a really fucked up disease. He hoped Byers didn't have it. Look, the guy may had punched him, but he deserved a break. Byers had been so brave for his brother, like a hero from a movie. Maybe his father had been wrong about him being a queer.
He learned that his father had most definitely been wrong when his girlfriend cheated on him with said Byers after calling Steve "Bullshit". It wasn't a slap in the face, it was a sucker punch to the heart. But he'd manage, he always did. It would be easier without Billy though.
The thing about Billy was that Steve hated him. With fervor. He was a racist asshole that threatened one of his boys and constantly tried to antagonize him. He had something about him that unnerved Steve in the same way Johnathan had, but unlike Byers, he did it on purpose.
His father hated him too, but in that way that meant Steve was at fault somehow. "You can let that queer beat you!" He always shouted after Billy managed to be the center of attention at all their matches. He had decided that Billy was a queer too, you see. He cared too much about his looks and he was from California, which apparently was were they came from. Steve wasn't too sure about it, after all, he had been wrong about Byers.
When robin happened, he almost cried. It had been his second chance, another girl he actually liked spending time with. Robin was funny and smart and charming. His parents were going to hate her but it'd stopped being about them a long time ago. Steve needed to like a girl for himself, to prove wrong the intrusive thoughts about Johnathan, Tommy H, Billy and the rest. But Robin had not been the solution he'd hoped for. Instead, she had been the catalyst that absolutely wrecked his life. Sure, she also made it a hundred times better, but still.
He did not talk to her about it. Not at first. It was so much, and he was still reeling from the fact that he was friends with one of the queers his dad hated so much. It took him a while just to unlearn the stereotypes and fear mongering rumours he had been raised in. Robin helped, she had decided that not getting bashed after rejecting him probably meant Steve was safe. So she explained to him the lesbian thing.
Steve didn't want to stop her. Clearly, Robin had no one else to talk to about it, and the relieve on her face when she told him about the sub culture, about liking Vicky about her feelings in general...he could not bring himself to take that alway from her no matter how much he wanted to. And God he wanted to. He wanted to go back, back to a time were he didn't have all this thought and doubts and nonsense. Because the things that Robin said about men...no. Robin had known she was a lesbian. If Steve was q...gay, he would have known by now. Yup.
Eddie Munson was the most unexpected gear to finally click in Steve's head. Honestly, he would have been way less upset about it if it had been Tommy H or Billy. Sure, he hated them, but The Freak??? That was several levels more life ruining than it needed to be. But God was it unavoidable.
It started with the kids raving about the famed Eddie Munson. The greatest DM, the most talented musician, the coolest dude on planet earth, and sure enough Steve was jealous. Who was this Munson guy to take HIS kids? He'd fought monsters for them, and that's how they repaid him? Ungrateful little shits. He barely remembered the guy from school, but he knew he was supposed to be older than him, and he was still there? Loser! Even he had managed to graduate. And then he met him.
The Vecna thing was a harrowing affair all by itself. He almost lost a couple of his kids and his emotional support Robin. But it was just an almost. Eddie managed to rescue himself and Dustin from the demo bats by "doing what I'm best at Harrington!". They've managed to steal enough time by blocking the gate with his wardrobe to steal yet another car. He violated several traffic laws just to get to the creel's house before the demo bats did and, well, that got Carvers attention. And thank God, because Lucas needed to climb on top of Dustin to reach for Max ears, powering El in the process. Nancy took care of Carver fast enough when a sprinting Eddie greeted them at the gate.
Steve did not now if it was the theatrics with which he explained the situation, or the fact that he saved Dustin, Lucas and Max, but the denial was over. He tried to go back, to ignore the feeling in his chest (those famed butterflies, making a mess of his ribcage), but it was too little to late. The way he smiled at him from the hospital bed while they patched up the gunshot wounds from Carver. The way he reassured a guilty faced Lucas that he'd survive "isn't that right Harrington?". This wasn't Billy's attractive yet hateable face nor an inconvenient crush on Byers. He was in deep.
Robin was as helpful as Steve had been to her when she needed to vent about her own homosexuality. By the end, Steve was Hyperventilating and in tears because what the actual fuck. And then Robin just... awkwardly hugged him and whispered "it's okay if we can't talk about boobies anymore". He laughed. Of course he'd laugh. A bit hysterical at first, but by the end of it both of them were joking about being "too much of a perfect match". He thought Robin being a lesbian would be the thing that ruined everything, but it was just the perfect fit. Sure, everything else was still awful, but they could be miserable together.
It became a dangerous game, guessing what else exactly had been a mask he put on to keep his parents happy. Surely it couldn't be everything, right? He still had a personality. The thought of having lived a complete lie his entire existence was the most horrifying shit he could think of. Worse than Vecna and the Demogorgon combined. Robin was helpful though, she kept him from spiraling too much.
Eddie had turned into a recurring problem. Apparently goodie two shoes Nancy Wheeler and King Harrington claiming that Jason was the actual killer and that Eddie was just his cover up was all they needed to exonerate him. Eddie was an amazing liar too, so he sold the story in under a minute to the police. Carver was hurting Chrissy, Chrissy came to him, Carver caught them and killed her in retaliation. But Eddie scaped so he had to improvise.
Apparently half of that wasn't a lie. Munson had confessed to Steve and Johnathan, high as a kite, that him and Chrissy did have some feelings. They never acted on them, but they were planning to when she felt safe enough to leave Carver. That was painful on so many levels... He'd vaguely known Chrissy in school and she was sweet enough, seeing the way Eddie spoke about her made her murder feel so much more painful. What if Vecna had done that to Robin? Or what if he'd actually tried to kill Nancy? But also, hearing from the guy your pining after that he likes girls was just a whole different can of worms. It made him feel awful, being jealous of a dead girl.
Life went on for a while, in that sweet sweet agony. Sharing custody of the kids with Eddie, joking about who was the mum and who was the dad, trying to save up to move out with Robin, becoming actual friends with Byers, having a proper platonic friendship with Nancy...it wasn't so bad. Sure he could never have what he truly wanted, but he and Robin had already planned to be each other beards, their friend group expanded and he could be close to the guy he liked. It wasn't going to be the happy white picket fence he had desperately tried to sell to Nancy in a last ditch effort to remain heterosexual. Not that he was ever going to be truly happy there either.
Things took the most unexpected turn thanks to Byers junior. The five of them were hanging out in the Byers-Hopper residence, their hangout spot since the kids preferred the Wheeler's basement. When Will weakly knocked on his brother's door, Steve did not expect to see him teary eyed on the other side. Soon enough everyone in the room was trying to console poor Will. Steve and Robin were both completely dumbstruck when Will finally opened his mouth to confess. They shared a look of "oh no, what's going to happen?". Steve had already a reassurance in his lips, trying to prevent anyone else making a hurtful comment, when Johnathan hugged him and told him it was okay. Everyone else followed, and now the look he shared with Robin was one of immense relief. He was quick to add on to the support, feeling extremely guilty at the way Byers senior seemed to relax, clearly on the fence about his answer.
Turns out Will was heartbroken due to falling for a straight guy, something that Steve could very much relate to. He wanted to say so but it wasn't the right moment, this was about Will, and no matter how relieved he felt for the Kid and his and Robin's sake, he didn't want to derail the conversation. Nancy and him reassured him that Wheeler was an idiot, and that he wasn't missing much. "You can do better than my brother".
It was Eddie who actually got Will to stop sobbing with a simple question "How do you know he's straight?". Robin pointed out how he had dated El to which Eddie gave the baffling answer of "so what? he could like both!". Johnathan and Nancy were quick to jump on his theory, while Robin and Steve exchanged incredulous stares. Clearly Robin had not known about that, or else she would have told him.
"Is that a thing?" Steve dared to hope, hope that this was not some plot to make Will feel better. "Yeah Harrington" Eddie looked at him with all that intensity he conjured for DMing "I'm pretty fucking sure." They both stared at each other, trying to read the other's face. Looking for a sign, while aknowledging it wasn't the time or place to talk. In the end, Eddie gave Will a ride to the Wheeler's.
Once he and Robin were in the safety of his car it was absolute madness. Robin's final words were "I may not have know that was a thing, but know I know and he was flirting Dingus!". He tried to shut her down, not wanting to get his hopes up, but once he was alone in his hose...that was a different story.
He managed about seven whole minutes of repeating the mantra "just because he's into dudes doesn't mean he is into you" before deciding "fuck it" and gunning it for the door. He needed to know know. Steve opened the door at the same time Eddie closed his van's. After that it was only a couple of long strides, a locked door and Eddie slamming him against it.
"Sorry if I didn't read this correctly but-" Steve didn't let him finish. And sure enough, this time he actually felt it. The butterflies, the fireworks, his heart pumping away like it was about to explode. There would be time to talk things out, figure out what they wanted, but right then and there Steve finally felt alive. And he couldn't care less what his parents thought about it.

And thank you, also, for your support, it means the world to me.
A/n: this is a FICTIONAL piece on FICTIONAL characters. I'm not assuming sexualities of characters, just writing a request and writing a ship that I quite like. So no one get mad, please.

Eddie would tell you that he knew he was down bad for Steve right off the bat. He had seen him around the halls a few times before he graduated and even managed to share a few classes with him in senior year. But the ever present existence of females in Steve's life- Nancy, for one- stopped Eddie from even introducing himself.
But when Dustin joined Hellfire though and Eddie was pulled into the realm of the Upsidedown along with all of the bullshit that was hidden under Hawkins for the longest time, Eddie finally had his in.
He wasn't subtle, he knew this- he didn't want to be subtle. He was already labeled as the freak so who cares if Steve thought he was weird, it was the chance that he would also feel the same way that made it worth it. He openly flirted with Steve and even managed to raise a few brows when he would send him flirty winks and subtle touches.
What was shocking to Eddie- someone who's had his sexuality (or lack thereof) figured out loosely-was that Steve felt a similar way. Steve was much more confused of his feelings for men, in fact, he had never really thought about it too in depth until Eddie came along. But it's the fact that he thought about it at all which was good enough for Eddie and gave him grounds to go on, to push Steve a little bit more to explore that curiosity.
Maybe it was the fact that Eddie was just so comfortable and confident in himself, even if it was just an appearance to make himself seem more likable. It worked, I mean, Steve liked him, probably more than he should have and maybe that's what led him to playing off his interest as disgust for the repeat senior.
But by the time everything calmed down and Hawkin's was returned to its former glory, Eddie's feelings came out of him like word vomit and to Robin of all people. She quickly played match maker and encouraged Steve to get over his fascination of only boobies and to branch out a bit. That it 'couldn't hurt'.
Steve still says he owes his overall happiness to Robin, his bestest friend in the whole world.
Dating, as two men, was extremely weird to the both of them, especially when it came to the time that they were living in. They didn't go out on dates, they stuck to pretty neutral terms to referring to each other in public and they kept their group small. The group who knew about the Upsidedown, knew about their secret romance- the two biggest secrets in Hawkins. I mean, sure, some rock stars were coming out as gay or bisexual- terms they weren't even sure they really understood- but they understood feelings. They felt a lot of feelings- especially for each other. And they were content and the confusion seemed to dissipate after a bit.
That is until they met you.
They stand side by side, lips parted like fish out of water, the air in their lungs seemingly sucked from them at the sight of you. Both of them share thoughts about how undeniably beautiful you are and all of a sudden, all of the thoughts about them not being attracted to women anymore were thrown out the window.
You seemed to spark their interest in a different way than they were expecting, neither of them really expecting to fall head over heels at the same time for the Pizza Delivery girl. But they did, they both knew that you were special and that they wanted more from you than just handing you a tip and telling you to have a good day.
You still swear it was the start of a really bad porno.
"Am I at the right house- I swear to god, sometimes they fuck it up- it's not my fault, I promise." You stutter out a nervous laugh quickly, looking back and forth between the two handsome men before you, biting anxiously at the inside of your cheek as you wait for them to speak.
But they couldn't speak, they just stood there and looked at you for a good minute or two before stumbling to get money to actually buy the pizza they ordered in the first place. And after a few moments, Eddie invited you in, granted it was really awkward and rushed and his cheeks were as red as a firetruck.
"I don't know. I really don't wanna get fired- this is my second job this year." You laugh, reaching up to fix the hair that had blown into your face, watching the curly hair boy in front of you stutter.
"We'll help you come up with something- plus, we've got weed."
Maybe you should've paid more attention in the stranger danger courses or the pictures on the sides of the milk cartons but something about these two men- they drew you in. You couldn't deny the looks that the two of them gave you and the curiosity you felt being in their presence. Between that and the looks they gave each other, you could tell they were together.
And they could tell they wanted to be together with you.
Following that night, Steve made it a point to order pizza from your restaurant and request that you deliver it- the boys did that until they chalked up the guts to ask you out.

Steve making the most pining, sad boy mixtape that he listens to on repeat. It's about his friend Eddie.
Eddie who is clueless about Steve's pining. Eddie who is the most tactile person he's ever met. So he's always slinging an arm around Steve or leaning on his shoulder during movie night. He'll run and jump on Steve's back for a piggyback ride or tackle him into the pool. It's slowly killing Steve because Eddie has no idea that Steve's in love with him.
In fact, for all the flirting Eddie does with Steve, the man has no idea he's even queer. 100 percent oblivious. Eddie has convinced himself that it's totally normal to flirt with everyone (he only flirts with Steve) and that it doesn't mean anything to cuddle your male friend on a regular basis (it means something) and poor Stevie is just suffering.
Maybe Eddie needs a ride one day because his van craps out, so he asks Steve to drive him to Indy and of course, the tape starts. after the first few songs Eddie's is having some thoughts. One, who the fuck is this tape about? Whoever it is, Steve clearly has BIG feelings for this girl. It makes Eddie feel like shit.
So he just keeps listening until he finally snaps and asks Steve who the chick is. Steve's confused, but Eddie presses further. He asks who the tape is about.
"What's her name? The girl you made this mix for?"
"There's no girl." Steve replies. His voice is tight like he's upset. Eddie would be so, so confused.
"Um, this is like some unrequited love pop music shit. Obviously you're in love with someone, so what's her name?" Eddie has to push.
Steve just tells Eddie to fuck off. They're both sorta pissed now. Eddie thought they were good enough friends that Steve would tell him. Steve can't have this conversation considering he's in love with his friend.
"Why won't you tell me her name...c'mon Stevie, I won't make fun of you. Is it Nancy again? Shitty considering she's dating Robbie. Tell me. Please. I'm dying to know who could have possibly inspired this mixtape." Eddie knows he's being an ass. He will get Steve to tell him.
Steve says nothing. Literally says nothing the rest of the way to Indy and back. It's not until they're pulling back into Hawkins that Eddie starts pestering again.
"Come on, dude. Who is this mystery girl you're so head over heels for? I mean literally, you put that song on there. Tears for Fears man, tell me, tell me, tell me-"
"It's not about a a girl. Shut the fuck up, man." Steve finally snaps. Eddie is just repeating over and over for Steve to tell him and it's annoying that he's so sure it's some girl.
"Then who?"
"I made the tape about you, asshole."
"What?"
"It's not some girl I'm in love with, it's you Eddie." Steve finally admits and he watches Eddie's face drop in horror. As Steve pulls up to Eddie's trailer, neither of them say a word. Steve is contemplating driving his car into a tree and Eddie is in shock. Because this cannot be happening, Eddie is straight and um, he definitely does not like Steve Harrington. Definitely isn't having a full fledged crisis right now.
"Man, I'm not... I'm not gay. I don't like you that way." Eddie finally tells him, refusing to meet Steve's eyes. Why does every word he just said feel like it's breaking Eddie apart too. He isn't sure he's being honest with Steve right now, but he cannot deal with this. He can't deal with the heartbreak all over Steve's face.
So Eddie gets out of the car and walks into his trailer. He doesn't look back or slow down. Steve is a second away from losing it. What was just pining is a rejection now. Worse than that, it feels like the whole world just fell down around Steve.
Despite how scared Steve was to tell Eddie, blatant rejection wasn't something he was worried about. Eddie flirted with him all the time. Always touching, always leaning into Steve's space. Calling him big boy or sweetheart. How could Steve have been so wrong? Eddie wasn't even into guys, let alone Steve. Eddie specifically said that he didn't like Steve that way. Eddie doesn't want him.
So, Steve listens to his sad mixtape and swears he'll move on even if that feels impossible.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oh my god, she’s perfect!” Robin announced as she burst back into their too-small apartment. Steve jolted on the couch, not expecting her grand entrance. He waited for her to continue, as she always did. “You would have been so proud of me. I strung so many actually cute sentences together all by myself! And she’s really cool, and she thinks I’m funny, and also she’s so hot it’s absolutely bonkers that she’s into me.”
“Robin, we’ve been over this. You’re one of the most beautiful women I know, alright? Of course she’s into you.”
“Well, my personality usually is too much for people, as you know, but she didn’t seem to mind at all.”
Steve listened as she continued, recounting their coffee date as she told most stories - enthusiastically and out of order. When she was finished, she collapsed onto the couch next to him.
“So, are you thinking there’s gonna be a second date?” he asked, curious.
“We already have one set up,” she smiled. “The festival that’s in town.” Steve nodded in approval, knowing exactly what she was talking about - every year in November, there was a pre-winter celebration with cider and doughnuts and Christmas lights that went up way too early. It was a great place for a date. “Oh, and you’re coming.”
“Wait, what?” Steve was not at all interested in crashing Robin’s date. “Why? You said yourself that you managed to talk to her just fine without me today.”
“You have to come because if you don’t, Eddie will be third wheeling.” She said it with a grin, knowing this was the piece of information that would sway him.
“Eddie’s gonna be there?”
“Yes, Eddie’s gonna be there, dingus. Bri thinks it’s really cool that we’re friends, so I reached out to him and asked if he wanted to come with us.”
“But you’re not friends,” Steve pointed out.
“We’re close enough,” Robin shrugged. “Besides, he agreed to come, so the feeling must be mutual, right?”
“I guess,” Steve answered, although he really wasn’t sure why Eddie would agree to go to the festival, unless Robin left a bigger impression on him than Steve had realized. “Aren’t you worried Bri is using you to get to the band?”
“Oh my god, it’s so not like that. You’re thinking about this too hard. The fact of the matter is, I’m terrible at dating and I really want to impress this girl and I need my Emotional Support Steve or I just know the whole thing will implode, I know it. And besides, it gives you the chance to be around Eddie again, so I don’t see the problem here.”
Well, when you put it like that, Steve thought to himself. The idea of seeing Eddie again was obviously enticing, and it would give him another chance to impress him. Maybe he’d actually allow himself to flirt, this time.
But that’s when it hit him - Eddie thought that Steve and Robin were dating.
He sighed. He’d probably just have to come clean. It was a stupid lie in the first place, and one that never was sustainable. Although, in Steve’s defense, he didn’t think he’d ever be seeing Eddie again. But he would, and soon.
This was going to be a disaster.
-
Eddie had never been to the Winter Festival, even though he heard about it every year. It wasn’t really his scene, to be honest.
But pranking Steve Harrington? That was exactly the kind of thing Eddie was into, and if he had to do it at the Winter Festival, so be it.
Eddie showed up at the big oak tree Robin told him she’d be at, and sure enough - there they were. Steve looked out of place next to the two girls, his hands tucked deep in the pockets of his jacket, his nose bright red from the frigid air. All three of them were quiet when Eddie approached, and he figured if anybody could liven up this party, he could.
“You made it!” Robin said, excitedly.
She had asked him to show up and lean into them being old friends, so she could impress Bri. Eddie knew the game, and he had no trouble playing along for Robin, especially since he really had known her for ten years or so. Plus, he liked Robin, and he liked Bri.
“‘Course I made it, doll,” Eddie responded with a grin. He pulled Robin into a hug, holding it a few moments too long to really sell the bit. He turned to Bri. “Nice to see you again.”
“You too,” she replied sweetly. Eddie looked to Steve last, who stood next to Robin completely frozen.
“Hey,” Steve said with a wave.
“Hey, Harrington.” Eddie could see Steve already knew he had fucked up with the whole him and Robin thing. He looked so incredibly uncomfortable, Eddie almost thought he wouldn’t have to do anything at all to get the satisfaction from the night he desired.
Almost.
Phase one, play dumb. The four of them walked to the entrance of the festival, flashing their IDs and showing their tickets. Robin had been nice enough to cover Eddie, even though he told her it was unnecessary. While they walked as a group, they paired off as Robin/Steve and Bri/Eddie, which Eddie thought was weird on Robin’s end, considering she was supposed to be on a date with this girl.
“So, Robin told me that you and her go way back?” Bri asked.
“Hm? Oh, yeah,” Eddie answered. “She’s great. Always super smart, and quirky but in an endearing way.” This was not a lie by any means - that was and continued to be exactly what Eddie thought of Robin.
“Yeah, I like her,” Bri said. Eddie breathed a sigh of relief, as if he’d passed some test. It was also nice to know she seemed genuinely interested in Robin, and that she wasn’t just using her to get closer to Eddie as he’d worried would be the case.
“Hey Bri,” Robin said, spinning around on her heels to face them. “Let me show you my favorite display.” Bri nodded with a smile, leaving Eddie’s side to join her date.
“I’ll get everyone a drink,” Steve offered. The girls cheered, then ran off together.
“I guess I’ll come with you,” Eddie shrugged, his eyes fixed on Steve’s.
“Right. Yeah, okay.”
They walked together to the booth with the crazy long line that was selling alcoholic beverages for way too much money. But Eddie had to give it to the town - the setup was nice. Cozy, despite the temperature.
“So, what country is this collar from?” Eddie teased, pulling at the lapels of Steve’s coat. He noticed Steve twitch slightly from the contact, and smirked.
“This one’s just from China, I think,” Steve responded.
“So worldly, Harrington,” Eddie said through a smile. Steve was already squirming, which was exactly Eddie’s intention. He was being nice, yet so deliciously wicked at the same time. There was an awkward pause as Steve decided what to say next, followed by a deep sigh.
“So, listen, man. There’s something I should probably tell you.” He was visibly nervous, and barely making eye contact.
“Uh-oh,” Eddie mocked. No way, is Harrington about to come clean already? That wouldn’t do, considering their night had just begun and all.
“It’s not really a huge deal, and maybe it’s not even a deal at all, I just, um.” Eddie stared at him doe-eyed, wondering how long it would take for him to fully form his confession. “Well, remember when we were at the bar?” Eddie nodded.
“Sure. Did you end up listening to that playlist, by the way?” Steve blinked a few times as he adjusted to the switch in topics.
“Uh, yeah. I mean, not all of it,” Steve admitted. It was like twenty hours long, so Eddie never expected Steve to get through every song, but he was surprised to hear he had actually listened at all. He wondered if maybe Steve was lying. “But anyway what I was trying to say is -”
“Any favorites so far?” Steve seemed kind of irritated that he was being interrupted, which was exactly what Eddie was going for.
“Uhhh…” He thought about it for a moment, then, to Eddie’s surprise, named quite a few songs off the playlist. But he wasn’t going to let Steve go just yet. After one song in particular, Eddie tutted in fake disappointment.
“You would.” That comment finally threw Steve off his original point entirely.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means you’ve somehow picked the ones I always skip,” Eddie explained.
“If you always skip them, why are they on your Good Shit playlist?” Steve argued. Eddie raised his eyebrows, impressed.
“Touche, Harrington.”
After that, they got lost in conversation about music once again.
-
Why did Eddie have to be so damn hot? It wasn’t fair. Steve was desperately trying to do the right thing, and instead Eddie got him talking about anything except his relationship status with Robin.
But the thing was, he wasn’t questioning why Robin was off with another woman. He didn’t seem to care at all. Maybe he was completely oblivious to the whole thing, and maybe Steve was making a big deal over nothing.
Which meant that maybe, he could pull this off with little to no humiliation.
The four of them spent the evening mainly together, and Steve managed to distract Eddie away from Bri and Robin anytime they did anything coupley - which, as the night went on, happened more and more frequently.
They were actually incredibly cute together.
Eventually, they’d seen all the lights, they’d spent too much on food and drink, and they were ready to leave. Crisis entirely averted.
“You know what? You’re actually not too bad, Harrington,” Eddie said as they were having their goodbyes.
“Uh, thank you.” He wasn’t sure how he was supposed to respond to that. “Are you insinuating that up until now you thought I was bad?” Eddie smirked. “Wow, okay.”
“Relax, I just wasn’t sure you were good enough for our dear friend Robin, over there. Now, I know for sure.”
Steve’s heart sank. He really was hoping Eddie had forgotten about that whole thing, especially after the way they’d been interacting the last few hours. With them paired off, the night kind of felt like a double date, and Steve would be lying if he were to say he didn’t enjoy every moment of it.
Except for the moments he felt like he was being strangled by a web of lies he’s stupidly put up himself. Like this moment, for example.
“Oh, right.” Steve sighed, feeling frustrated as ever. “Eddie, listen -”
“Night, Steve.” Eddie’s crooked smile gave him butterflies. Goddammit.
“Good night.” Steve resigned to the fact that every time he said goodbye to Eddie, there was a possibility it would be the last time they interacted. Even though he’d made it through this mess without embarrassing himself too much, he couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened had he treated this night or the last one they’d had together a little differently.
Whatever. It was over, for now anyway. Although, Eddie and Robin seemed to get along extremely well, so maybe not all was lost.
That night, Steve and Robin sat on the couch, her legs draped over his lap. The two of them were always kind of touchy like that. He listened intently as she gushed about the moments of the date that Steve hadn’t been present for. He was happy for her, truly, but she clocked something on his face he didn’t realize he was showing.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, knowingly. When Steve didn’t answer, she went a different direction. “You and Eddie looked good together.”
“Shut up,” Steve said, shaking his head. “I’m pretty sure he just tolerates me.”
“Yeah, that’s not the vibe I’m getting,” Robin countered. “There’s nothing passive about the way he looks at you, trust me.”
“Fine, he doesn’t tolerate me, he hates me.” Steve crossed his arms, and Robin swung her legs off him, annoyed.
“You know what they say about hatred, right?” Steve shook his head. “You’re in his head, dingus. There’s a lot of overlap between love and hate.”
“Robin…” Steve whined with a roll of his eyes. “Did you not see him flirting with all those women at the show? I didn’t see him express interest in any men. We don’t even know if he swings that way.”
“First of all, I saw him express interest in one man,” she insisted. “Second of all, are you kidding me right now? Steve.” She shifted to sit on her knees, facing him. “Eddie is like, really fruity. I swear to god, your lack of gaydar is unmatched.”
“Nah, I don’t think so,” Steve shook his head in disbelief. “I mean, yeah, I’ve had a history of not knowing women were gay, but I’m usually pretty good when it comes to men.”
“Yeah, usually,” Robin rolled her eyes.
“Let’s see if we can figure out who’s right.” Steve took out his phone and pulled up Eddie’s Instagram, wondering if he could maybe find any proof either way on there. Robin peered over to look at his phone screen.
“Seriously? You don’t follow him, yet? What’s wrong with you?” Steve sighed, then clicked the follow button. He wouldn’t be able to see Eddie’s posts until he followed back. “You’re lucky I did this ages ago.”
Robin pulled out her own phone, then the two of them took a quick glance at Eddie’s most recent posts. After a few minutes, their search was inconclusive. Eddie didn’t post enough to really give them any information.
“I didn’t expect him to be so restrained on social media,” Steve said. He and Robin tended to post quite a bit.
And that’s when the realization hit him - He followed Eddie, and now Eddie could see Steve’s profile. And Steve’s profile would blow his cover entirely.
“Why do you look like you just saw a ghost?” Robin asked, always in tune with how Steve was feeling.
“Because Eddie’s about to find out I lied to him.”
“About what?”
“He thinks you and I are dating,” Steve admitted. He braced himself for Robin to smack him, or yell at him, or laugh, but she didn’t. Instead, she just gave him a weird look.
“Uh, no he doesn’t,” she said, shaking her head.
“Yeah, he does. That’s why I kept pulling him away tonight, so he wouldn’t find out.”
“Steve, Eddie knows I’m gay. And he for sure knows I was on a date tonight. What are you talking about?”
“What are you talking about?” None of this made any sense to Steve. Eddie had referenced their fake relationship on his way out of the date, so he couldn’t possibly know, unless -
Oh, shit. Eddie was in on this the whole time. What an absolute asshole.
Steve was in a pretty bad mood after that, so he ended up going to bed. He’d found it was best to be alone at times like these. The plan was to get some rest, but he couldn’t fall asleep, so he just laid there and watched Tiktoks until his brain turned numb.
But then, naturally, he got the dreaded notification that reminded him of why he was there in the first place.
Eddie accepted your follow request
Steve scoffed before deleting the notification, but curiosity got the better of him a few minutes later.
He opened up Eddie’s page, staring at the images he’d looked at earlier, except this time he was filled with a lot more disdain for the person in them. He scrolled until the beginning, where he found pictures of when Eddie must have been a teenager. It was crazy to Steve that he’d gone through all of high school without noticing this guy - as Eddie had said himself, he wasn’t a subtle presence. Steve tried to scroll back up to the top of the profile, and that’s when his bad night somehow became worse.
Oh no. Oh no no no oh shit oh god oh no.
Steve accidentally liked one of the posts. Like, he liked a post from a long time ago. Like, there was no way Eddie wouldn’t know that Steve had been stalking him at 2am.
Well, if Steve was too embarrassed to show his face to Eddie again before, he certainly could never face him now.
Robin was asleep, so he couldn’t bother her. But he did know of someone who was in a timezone where it was only 11pm, and that someone tended to stay up late anyway. He dialed the number without thinking twice about it.
“Steve! Long time no talk! Wait, why the hell are you calling me? Is everything okay?” Steve froze, feeling stupid. Nobody called anymore unless it was for emergencies, although this felt somewhat like an emergency.
“Dustin, hey. Sorry to bother you out of the blue, but I’m really freaking out over here.”
-
Ahahahahhahahahha. Oh, this is perfect.
Eddie stared at the notification like it was a prize. He knew it was everybody’s worst nightmare - We all stalk people from high school, and we all fear accidentally alerting those people that we’re stalking them. And at 2am?? Eddie almost felt bad for the poor guy. He was probably losing his shit right now, wondering whether he should unlike the post, or embrace the mistake.
Wait.
It’s two in the fucking morning.
Eddie thought back to all previous interactions he’d had so far with Steve. How awkward he’d occasionally get, how flustered he was every time Eddie touched him. Eddie had assumed Steve was being standoffish because Robin had dragged him out with her. Steve seemed so uncomfortable being at the bar, like he didn’t really want to be there in the first place. Eddie was giving him a hard time because he didn’t think it mattered. He didn’t realize that…that…
Jesus Christ. Steve has a crush on me.
