Bruce Banner is Tim Drake’s Uncle

In the comics, Bruce Banner is canonically taken in by his aunt Susan Drake after his father’s jailed for mariticide.

Let’s say Susan Drake was Janet’s mother and that Bruce Banner was raised alongside her.

When he goes to college and becomes a scientist he’s still in contact with them but being on the run from the government tends to put a dampener on communications so Bruce Banner has never met Janet’s spouse or child.

When Tim lies about his uncle having custody of him, he didn’t make up a new uncle. Thus, SHIELD was alerted when Bruce B’s name suddenly appeared in new legal custody records.

They’d been meaning to investigate Gotham for awhile anyway but the locals had been less than cooperative and SHIELD is a bit swamped with aliens and mutants nowadays to chase shadows.

With a gothamite in the custody of an Avenger and sharing a living space with a few more, SHIELD’s chances of getting new intel on Gotham are at a record high so they alert Bruce Banner of Tim’s orphan status and help him gain custody.

Let it be said that one should never bet against a bat.

Info: Rodney is more kin with Nishou than they are Nish. He is one of Nishou's best friends and while he is aware of Nishou entirely, it does not bother him in the slightest.  However, in that same breath, Rodney can be seen interacting with Nish being flirty, or even passing his openness with them as friends. He seems to be highly interested in Nish, not fully romantic but there is obvious physical lust and curiosity. Though Nishou tells him to stay away from his original vessel for his own personal reasons. Rodney thinks good competition between men never hurt anyone. Nor will anyone stand in his way when he wants something or someone. He tends to go behind his friend's back in order to get to the original vessel. He seems haughty and aloof beyond his flirtations, and his intentions aren't really known. which in a way allures the original but also irritates them. While the original and he may romp from time to time, there is nothing too serious going on. There is a sinister air about Rodney that Nish does not fully trust, so their interactions stay solely on the fun. That sinister air is Rodney's connection to their doppel.

Rodney however does not care to be wrapped up in the drama that concerns both Nish and Nishou. He never alludes to either the original or doppel's whereabouts if they ask him. He is more of the type to enjoy how things playout for the good or dangerously bad. If challenged he will not think twice about getting rid of you. There is a reason why he and Nishou connect so well. Never challenge him or disrespect him, he will make sure you regret your actions fully.

Rodney beyond his connections to the doppel has a very dueled nature due to his cultural upbringing. He also lost his mother in his teen years due to a violent disease. As a result of his mother's passing his father took out his sadness and aggression on him. It is hard for Rodney to fully become connected to anyone due to the one person he loved the most leaving his life permanently. There was nothing for him to do, to control the said situation to keep his mother around. Rodney fears connection of any kind.. be it friendship, intimacy, or long-term relationships. He feels, in the end, you will leave him, be it your choice or something natural that he can not physically stop.

Rodney has his own issues beyond childhood trauma that even he can become mentally mudded with. While he vents to Nish about them, he will not go as far as to leave himself emotionally vulnerable. Even if he knows you will never harm him, he just won't trust anyone enough to give you that control over him. Beyond all, his life experience and his culture play a part in his mentality as well. His father stating " A man who cries is weak and is no son of his" has stuck with him throughout his life. You will never see Rodney cry or break down...instead he uses sex, drugs, and liquor as a form of escapism. At best his escapism within kink is one the original vessel will always be confused with. He believes if he consents to pain from time to time that he has some sense of control. A form of control he never had prior. Though he understands this isn't safe for him at best he could care less. Essentially he uses others as a form of self-harm.

Rodney sports a serrated switchblade he nicknamed Regina. He also refers to his blade as she/her. He uses it for fun with lovers as well as protection if anyone tries to step to him sideways. While he's a great physical fighter he enjoys the fear weaponry induces when introduced in a brawl.

The supervillain cupped his dearest nemesis’s cheeks in his hands, drawing her closer to get a better look at her and her many injuries. 

His violet eyes narrowed, a dark look replacing his usual levity. 

“Who hurt you?” he demanded. “I want their names. Now.”

Divinity lowered her golden gaze. It was bad enough being hurt by those she trusted, all the worse to have her sworn enemy fretting over her like this. 

“I’m a hero,” she insisted. “I get hurt all the time.”

But Psychopath wasn’t so easily dissuaded. “Divinity, let’s make this easier on both of us. Tell me who did this.”

“And if I don’t?” she pressed, daring to meet his eyes. 

She hated the way he looked at her, hated him for everything he’d done to this city. Why then did he have to be the one to insist on comforting her?

“I’ve got you in my grasp, darling. Reading your mind would be as easy as taking candy from a baby.”

She knew that, of course. What she didn’t know was why he didn’t just use his powers and learn what she didn’t want to say. 

“Then do it already.”

His gaze softened. The last thing Divinity wanted was his pity. She couldn’t bear to hold his gaze a second longer. 

“I respect you enough to not pry this information from you. Not unless I have to.”

He really wasn’t going to let this go. 

And that was enough to break the floodgates. Tears poured down her cheeks as she stifled a sob. The angelic hero said the perpetrator’s name in a whisper - a rival hero and her supposed boyfriend. 

The violet gentleman thief pulled his nemesis into his arms, careful not to exacerbate her pains. His chin rested atop her silver head, gloved fingers mindlessly running through her hair. 

“Shh, darling. Everything will be alright. Your dearest enemy Psychopath will make sure of that.”

She didn’t have to look up to know there was murder in his eyes.

i hate how many terms for things i know that are obviously shitty (usually wildly racist or sexist), but so many of them are slang terms that it's difficult to research what the non-shitty alternative is. like, "wifebeater"? fairly easy to find out that's called a "tank top." but what the hell do you call that childhood prank where you rub someone's arm with both hands in opposite directions until it turns red? how do you even go about googling that?

Do you think that if Harry's parents weren't magical and actually died in a car crash, with Harry surviving (and also having no magic) that the Dursleys wouldn't have been so harsh with him? After all, Petunia would never had any reason to feel jealous of her sister being special, since she was also a muggle, and her son Harry is also not 'a freak.' How different would Harry Potter's life be in this universe?

I think we're entering "why does abuse happen" territory.

Harry was abused by the Dursleys whenever he showed signs of being a wizard. He was also abused when he disobeyed, failed to perform a task, or performed it in a way that wasn't satisfactory. Dudley was allowed to torment him with his friends with zero interference from Petunia and Vernon. He was made to live in a cupboard when they had an available bedroom, and at birthdays he didn't get a gift while Dudley received thirty-seven gifts. Dudley was sent to a good school, Harry was to go to a shitty one - and Petunia wouldn't even buy him a uniform, preferring to make a terrible-looking one at home. He used to have an allowance, they took it away as punishment. When Vernon's sister Marge visits, she is allowed to torment the boy and call his mother, Petunia's sister, a bitch.

Say Harry is a Muggle child. Petunia and Vernon won't punish him for showing signs of wizardry, but does that mean they won't do any of the other things either? A reoccurring theme in their abuse is they don't want to spend their own money or even food on this child they were saddled with. Would this change if he was a "normal" child, or does Vernon see a boy he didn't sire and therefore shouldn't pay for? Say their precious Duddykins starts bullying Harry. Would they stop this if they saw an innocent child deserving protection in Harry, or would they let their boy have at it?

Conversely, the Dursleys treated Harry the way they did because they wanted to "stomp the magic out of him". If there's nothing to stomp out, will they be unable to justify their treatment of him? Was Dudley's abuse of Harry behavior he'd learned from observing his parents, could they have been brothers instead?

One thing worth noting is that Vernon's favorite thing about Dudley is how much of himself he sees in his son. There's nothing of Vernon in Harry: perhaps he'd love him anyway, perhaps he would tolerate him, perhaps he would find some other reason to hate him, no wizardry needed.

I think it's dealer's choice.

Some people will be a good spouse to one partner, and then the next is abused. A single child in a household may be singled out (I know a group of siblings where the youngest was punished corporally, and the older siblings didn't find out until they were elderly) because it's 'difficult' or 'headstrong' or in some other way attracted attention. Anything can trigger it.

So, maybe Harry wouldn't have been abused if he were a Muggle. He might even have had a good childhood.

However, Petunia and Vernon were capable of treating him horribly in the timeline where he was a wizard, and Harry being a wizard ultimately boils down to Harry being different and a perceived threat. Should Harry come out as gay, or make friends Petunia and Vernon don't approve of, or in some other way make himself persona non grata, they would turn on him.

So the other day I listened to a video analyzing the toxic relationships of Betty, la fea (Betty, the ugly one), which it's a Colombian novela. From what I got the original concept was to show how a woman could be successful despite being unconventionally attractive

And someone commented "don't you think this is a very Gen Z read on an 90s production?" (Paraphrased but you get the point)

Idk man, I think I would judge a relationship where the man manipulates, cheats constantly and is physically violent towards women and the woman, his love interest, constantly covering his ass to his fiance as toxic (abusive even) regardless of the time it was produced or set in

Calling abuse for what it is isn't a "Gen Z read". Just bc we were born in a different time and therefore have a different way to look at things doesn't mean we can't make a media analysis. Media literacy doesn't have a deadline

And even then, this specific case can't be exactly excused with "it was a different time" or "it's a different culture" like in other cases. Relationships in novelas were and are toxic bc it's more entertaining to watch (and the writers get to prolong it as much as they can, so they're full of conflict)

Honestly this comment mostly pissed me off bc I feel like it's a phrase people can use to scare younger people away from having a more in-depth look at the media they engage with, and not just mindlessly consume it

Headcanons for crimson and lucille cause I love them already.

They met through her interviewing for the maid/cook position. He fell for her at first sight. Definitely greeted her the same way he greeted millie. With a kiss to the hand. Hired her partly cause he was into her. Luck just so had where she was also capable at the jobs required.

The baby they eventually have is a girl. Mostly takes from the mother but has an imp tail and horns. She's red fur with black flesh underneath. They name her penelope but she goes by penny for short. Total daddy's girl. Gets the opposite treatment that moxxie got.

Crimson and lucille getting married after like three months of dating. He already decided he wanted to get hitched again before they met and lucille happened to fall into his lap.

He doesn't want to hurt her. Crimson even if he would never admit it regrets killing his wife and doesn't wanna make the same mistakes. I think he would have possessive and controlling tendencies with lucille but he wouldn't hit her and would stop himself from doing so. Especially since he views her as fragile.

He's overly protective of her and assigned guards to watch over her and accompany her places when he's doing business and she has to be outside the home.

His worst nightmare is her finding out about him killing his previous wife. He's terrified she would leave or be afraid of him because of it. So he makes sure moxxie doesn't open his mouth about it.

She along with their daughter is spoiled rotten by crimson. She gets anything she wants. I imagine her wedding dress cost thousands and their wedding was a huge event.

He stepped into the elevator and pressed one of the number buttons to take him up to his floor. Just as the doors started to close, Thierry noticed a young woman rushing towards the elevator. He stuck his arm out to stop the doors from closing, allowing her to catch the ride up. Once she was inside the small confines of the elevator, Thierry realized he had met this woman before. “Nadia, right? We met at the Jagged Yard a couple weeks ago.”

Hi! How about the version that the former Chen Yuzhi was an abuser and an asshole and Yuzhi was able to get away from him. He tried to keep the relationship to the last, until his ex decided to raise his hand to Keying. Yuzhi punched him and took his sister back to Jingcheng. After that, he is afraid to start a new relationship and does not trust anyone. Jian Yuelou was an exception, because he was slowly able to gain Yuzhi's trust. When the ex shows up and threatens Chen Yuzhi, Yuelou does not tolerate it. How will he deal with this asshole? Perhaps Commissioner Bai will decide to intervene, because no one dares to attack his son-in-law. The ex-boyfriend decides to kidnap Yuzhi and the whole police station is unhappy that some asshole kidnapped their doctor.

Chen Yuzhi is what many people would call “naïve”.  He tries to see the good in everybody but unfortunately, some people are just not good

He’s in a relationship with a man whom he thought he loved, but he can tell that the man does not love him.  If he loved him, then he wouldn’t hit him at the smallest mistake, he wouldn’t yell at him if he was coming home late from seeing a patient, he wouldn’t constantly be saying that Chen Yuzhi isn’t a good doctor and that no one wants to see him

Chen Yuzhi, of course, tries to endure the words and hits, and constantly wears turtlenecks and sometimes even makeup to hide the bruises until one day he comes home to see his “lover” (soon to be ex), raising his hand to his little sister Keying as she was crying from tripping and falling from something that he had left lying around instead of cleaning up like Chen Yuzhi had asked

The minute he sees him about to hit Keying, reality fucking hits Chen Yuzhi square in the face, making him realize that if he doesn’t get out, not only is he probably going to end up dead, but that Keying is going to end up dead too at some point

So he quickly grabs Keying and hits his ex in one of his meridians, knocking him unconscious long enough for Chen Yuzhi to quickly grab all the money he’s saved up/hidden as well as pack a bag for him and for Keying

They then quickly leave the house and head to the docks where the last boat from Tokyo to Hong Kong is departing.  Chen Yuzhi doesn’t even have time to let his patients know that he’s leaving, all he knows is that he just needs to get the hell out of here

They then ride the boat to Hong Kong and then take the train from Hong Kong to Chen Yuzhi’s old hometown of Jing City.  There he’s able meet up with an old friend, Yu Tangchun, and he’s able to find a house in a nice and quiet neighborhood as well as set up a clinic

Things are going well, Keying’s adjusted to her new school, Chen Yuzhi has a lot of new patients, and he loves being back in Jing City but he’s still very wary of people.  He has a very strict policy of no touching, like he can touch you because he’s a doctor but don’t touch him back

Then one day, as he’s rushing to a patient’s house, he doesn’t even watch where he’s going and accidentally slams into someone, immediately hitting the ground, his kit scattering everywhere.  However, instead of going to pick up his things, he just raises his arms above his face, trembling violently

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry”

Yet, instead of a slap, like he’s used to, he feels a gentle but firm grasp on his arm as he’s helped to his feet and he looks up to see a handsome man looking at him in concern

“Are you alright?  I didn’t hurt you, did I?”

Chen Yuzhi blinks before he quickly shakes his head and wrenches his arm out of the man’s grasp, kneeling to pick up his scattered things when the man kneels down as well, helping him pick up his things before handing them to him, much to his surprise

Once he has all his things, he slowly stands to his feet, the man standing to his feet as well, smiling slightly

“Sorry about that”

Chen Yuzhi blinks; he’s not used to being apologized to…at least he hasn’t been apologized to in a long time.  He then shakes his head

“No, no, it’s fine”

The man then holds out his hand

“Chief Jiang Yuelou”

Chen Yuzhi stares at him, then at his hand, before he hesitantly reaches out and shakes his hand

“Dr. Chen Yuzhi”

Jiang Yuelou smiles

“Oh, you’re the new doctor Boss Yu was talking about”

Chen Yuzhi looks at him in shock

“You know Tangchun?”

Jiang Yuelou nods

“He’s a friend of mine”

Chen Yuzhi nods slowly as Jiang Yuelou tilts his head

“Where are you heading?  I’ll escort you”

Chen Yuzhi blinks before he tells Jiang Yuelou, Jiang Yuelou nodding before they head to the patient’s house.  Instead of leaving, Jiang Yuelou actually stays, much to Chen Yuzhi’s surprise, and even offers to walk him home

Chen Yuzhi frowns and feels like the man has an ulterior motive, so as they’re walking home for the evening, he asks him

“Why have you been so nice to me today?”

Jiang Yuelou frowns

“I…can’t be?”

Chen Yuzhi shakes his head

“No, I…it’s just weird.  I’m not used to it”

Jiang Yuelou frowns

“What do you mean?”

Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widen and he quickly shakes his head

“Nothing.  I’ve said too much”

Jiang Yuelou hums but says nothing as he and Chen Yuzhi head home, Chen Yuzhi unlocking the door as Keying comes running over to him, throwing her arms around him

“Gege!”

Chen Yuzhi smiles and pets her head as Keying looks over at Jiang Yuelou, frowning

“Who’s that?”

Chen Yuzhi looks over at Jiang Yuelou, who’s standing outside the gate, and smiles slightly

“This is Chief Jiang Yuelou”

Jiang Yuelou smiles and kneels down so that he’s at Keying’s eye level and holds out his hand

“Hello”

Keying hesitantly looks at him before she reaches out and shakes his hand

“Hi”

Jiang Yuelou smiles before he stands up and looks at Chen Yuzhi

“I’ll see you later, Dr. Chen”

He then turns and heads a little way down to the house next door, much to Chen Yuzhi’s surprise before Chen Yuzhi guides Keying inside, locking the gate behind them before they head into the house

Things go well for a while until one day, when Jiang Yuelou decides to visit Chen Yuzhi, just to see him, he steps inside to see Chen Yuzhi squatting in the corner of his clinic, his hand clutching his hair almost painfully and he looks like he’s hyperventilating

Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widen and he rushes over to the young doctor, kneeling down before him

“Dr. Chen?  Chen Yuzhi?”

He then reaches out and grasps Chen Yuzhi’s arm, causing Chen Yuzhi to gasp and shy away, making Jiang Yuelou quickly release his arm as he looks at him in concern

“Are you okay?”

Chen Yuzhi blinks at him and before he even knows what’s happening, tears begin to stream down his face and he’s crying, much to Jiang Yuelou’s surprise. He then looks around, making sure no one is coming, before he reaches out, about to touch Chen Yuzhi when he looks him in the eyes

“Yuzhi.  Look at me”

Chen Yuzhi looks at him as he holds up his hand

“I’m going to touch you now, okay?  I’m just going to help you off the floor”

Chen Yuzhi blinks before he nods, allowing Jiang Yuelou to grasp his arm and help him to his feet and once he’s standing, he slumps against Jiang Yuelou, Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widening as he wraps his arms around him

“Yuzhi?”

“Upstairs”

Jiang Yuelou glances towards the staircase before he nods and carefully guides Chen Yuzhi upstairs and over to one of his many hospital beds, sitting him down before he heads back downstairs, closing the doors to the clinic before he heads back upstairs and sits down beside Chen Yuzhi, giving him some space as he looks over at him

“Are you okay?”

Chen Yuzhi looks over at him before he lets out a weak laugh and wipes his eyes

“Ah, I’m sorry you had to see me like this…”

Jiang Yuelou shakes his head

“Don’t apologize…what happened?”

Chen Yuzhi glances over at him before he sighs and explains the abusive relationship he was in before and how he tried so hard to make it work but he knew that things weren’t working out and then reality hit him when he saw his ex trying to hit Keying…he knew he had to get away

He then goes on to explain that a couple that day had come in shouting and the shouting reminded him of the fights he and his ex used to have and he mentally couldn’t take it so as soon as they left, he just sort of…shut down

“Is that why you were turtlenecks all the time?”

Chen Yuzhi looks at Jiang Yuelou in shock as Jiang Yuelou points to Chen Yuzhi’s throat

“Did he use to strangle you a lot?”

Chen Yuzhi sighs

“Not enough for me to black out, but yes”

Jiang Yuelou growls low before he shakes his head

“That’s disgusting”

Chen Yuzhi raises an eyebrow

“Why are you getting so angry?  You barely know me”

Jiang Yuelou huffs

“No, but I’ve lived your story”

Chen Yuzhi frowns as Jiang Yuelou sighs and explains his childhood, how his parents were loving at first until Jiang Yuelou’s father got addicted to opium and then he started abusing and beating not only Jiang Yuelou’s mother, but Jiang Yuelou himself

Chen Yuzhi looks at Jiang Yuelou in shock as Jiang Yuelou smiles softly

“We’re not so different, you and I”

Chen Yuzhi blinks as Jiang Yuelou reaches out

“Can I…touch you?”

Chen Yuzhi stares at him before he nods, Jiang Yuelou’s hand incredibly gentle as he cups Chen Yuzhi’s face, gently stroking his cheek and Chen Yuzhi lets out a shuddering breath as tears begin to stream down his cheeks; it’s been so long since someone has touched him gently, without any intent to hit or slap

Jiang Yuelou sees the tears and he silently swears to himself that if he ever meets the man that hurt Chen Yuzhi like this, he will fucking kill him

He then scoots closer to Chen Yuzhi and carefully wraps his arms around him, giving Chen Yuzhi enough time to shove him away but to his surprise, Chen Yuzhi melts into him, relaxing in a way that he’s never seen the doctor relax before

He hugs Chen Yuzhi tightly and presses a kiss to his hair, silently promising Chen Yuzhi that he would protect him

After Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi share their past, Chen Yuzhi slowly starts to open up more and Jiang Yuelou can’t help but fall for the young doctor because good god, Chen Yuzhi is so cute with his bright smile and big beautiful bambi eyes

But good things can’t last forever because one day, as Chen Yuzhi is cleaning up his clinic, someone storms inside and all but grabs Chen Yuzhi by the throat, slamming him into his drawers.  He lets out a gasp of surprise before he looks up to see his ex glaring at him

“Thought you could get away from me, huh, bitch?”

Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widen and he shakes his head as his ex tightens his hands around his throat, causing him to gasp and struggle and claw at his hand

“Let me go”

His ex snarls

“I’m never letting you go again”

Just then, there’s a hand on the back of his shirt and he’s suddenly yanked away from Chen Yuzhi and thrown to the ground, letting out a cry of pain before he looks up to see Jiang Yuelou glaring down at him

“You dare touch him”

Chen Yuzhi’s ex looks at him before he smirks and looks at Chen Yuzhi, who’s clutching at his throat, coughing

“Who’s this?  Your new toy? You slut”

Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widen as Jiang Yuelou snarls and reaches down and grabs the ex by the front of his shirt, yanking him to his feet before he shoves him out of the clinic

“If you ever come near him again, I will kill you”

Chen Yuzhi’s ex scoffs and takes a step towards Jiang Yuelou

“I’d like to see you try”

Jiang Yuelou smirks before he pulls out his gun and presses it to his forehead, watching with sick delight as his eyes widen in fear as he pulls the hammer back

“Think I won’t?”

“Jiang Yuelou, no!”

Jiang Yuelou looks back at Chen Yuzhi, who shakes his head, and sighs as he lowers the gun from the ex’s forehead before he glares at the ex

“Now get out of here”

The ex huffs before he looks over Jiang Yuelou’s shoulder and smirks at Chen Yuzhi

“You’ll come back to me.  Sluts like you always do”

Jiang Yuelou growls and points the gun at him again

“GET OUT OF HERE”

The ex quickly rushes off, since the hammer is still cocked and Jiang Yuelou growls before he steps back into the clinic, shutting the doors and placing the hammer back into position before he runs over to Chen Yuzhi, gently grasping him by the biceps

“Yuzhi.  Yuzhi! Are you okay?  Do we need to go to a hospital?”

Chen Yuzhi looks at him and shakes his head but Jiang Yuelou just growls

“No, we’re going to the hospital.  He could have seriously damaged your throat”

Chen Yuzhi sighs before he nods in agreement, allowing Jiang Yuelou to take him to the hospital to get looked at and while he’s getting looked at, he makes a few phone calls, mainly to the police department and to Zhan Junbai to be on the lookout for Chen Yuzhi’s ex

After Chen Yuzhi is considered okay (though the doctor says he needs to be careful of his throat for the next couple of days), Jiang Yuelou takes Chen Yuzhi home and he stays the night with him and Keying

While Chen Yuzhi and Keying are sleeping, Jiang Yuelou stays awake because he doesn’t know if the ex has figured out where Chen Yuzhi and Keying lives but if he has and thinks about dropping by, he’s gonna get a rude awakening when he finds Jiang Yuelou pointing his gun at him

Thankfully the ex does not show up, but that does not stop Jiang Yuelou from making sure that there is an officer on Chen Yuzhi at all times. Mainly Jiang Yuelou is the one to keep watch over the doctor but when he can’t, he’ll have his subordinates or other officers watch over the doctor

Many officers don’t understand what’s so special about Chen Yuzhi, but they don’t argue and watch him, making sure that the ex is nowhere in sight.  Chen Yuzhi thinks the protection is a little ridiculous but he’s grateful, nonetheless

And he gets to know the different officers that watch him/protect his clinic and slowly over time, the officers become protective of Chen Yuzhi, not just because he’s Jiang Yuelou’s but because he’s their doctor too

Then one day, when there isn’t an officer on duty because Chen Yuzhi had sent them away (since he was dealing with younger clients that day and he was told that the officers outside scared them), his ex sneaks inside and chloroforms him, causing him to fall unconscious

His ex then begins to drag him out of his clinic when he’s stopped by a car that suddenly cuts in front of him and a tall man with light skin, brown eyes, and short black hair dressed immaculately gets out, placing his hands in his pockets as he looks the ex up and down

“Hmm…so you’re the man Jiang-xiong said to be on the lookout for”

He then tilts his head when he notices an unconscious Chen Yuzhi in his arms

“And it seems that you have something that doesn’t belong to you”

He then slowly begins to stalk towards the ex, making the ex back up in fear as the tall man grins almost predatorily

“You should know better than to take something that isn’t yours”

He then stops before the ex, who looks at him with wide eyes, and before the ex knows what’s happening, the tall man lashes out and kicks him in the kneecap, breaking his leg cleanly

He lets out of scream of pain and collapses to the ground, the tall man quickly rushing forward and grabbing Chen Yuzhi, who’s still unconscious.  He then looks over at another man and carefully hands Chen Yuzhi off to him

“Take Dr. Chen to Jiang Yuelou.  I’ll deal with this bastard”

The man nods and carefully places Chen Yuzhi in the car before getting behind the wheel and driving off, leaving the tall man and the ex alone.  The ex then looks up at the man and frowns

“Who are you?”

The tall man just smiles and slowly stalks towards him again before he’s practically looming over him and pulls out a gun from his waistband, pointing it between his eyes

“What does it matter?  You won’t remember anyways”

He then fires a single bullet between the man’s eyes, humming as he takes a step back and looks at his handiwork before he steps away from the body and begins to make his way towards the police station

At the police station, Chen Yuzhi slowly wakes up to find himself in an office that he’s never been, and he slowly sits up, clutching at his head

“Yuzhi?”

Chen Yuzhi looks over to see Jiang Yuelou looking at him with wide eyes and Chen Yuzhi just blinks

“What…how did I—”

“That would be my doing”

Chen Yuzhi and Jiang Yuelou look over to see the tall man stepping into the office, a small smile on his face.  Jiang Yuelou smiles when he sees him

“Zhan-xiong”

Chen Yuzhi looks over at him in confusion before he looks back at the tall man

“I’m sorry, who—”

“Executive Zhan Junbai, Minister of Finance”

Chen Yuzhi blinks before his eyes widen in shock

“Executive”

Zhan Junbai waves his hand

“Oh please.  It was the least I could do for the lover of Jiang-xiong and best friend of Tangchun”

Chen Yuzhi glances over at Jiang Yuelou in confusion before he looks back at Zhan Junbai

“What did you do?”

Zhan Junbai smiles

“What needed to be done, that’s all”

Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widen

“Did you—”

“His death was painless.  A bullet between the eyes, that’s all”

Chen Yuzhi is stunned into silence as Zhan Junbai sighs

“I know Jiang Yuelou would have done it, but that would have upset you, so it was better that an outside party did it.  Besides, I’m a soldier.  I have no problem dirtying my hands”

Chen Yuzhi, however, doesn’t say anything, making Jiang Yuelou sigh before he looks over at Zhan Junbai

“Thank you, Zhan-xiong”

Zhan Junbai smiles

“Anytime”

He then turns and heads out of the office, leaving Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi alone before Jiang Yuelou looks over at Chen Yuzhi

“Yuzhi?  Are you okay?”

Chen Yuzhi doesn’t say anything, but Jiang Yuelou can see tears streaming down his face, making his eyes widen

“Yuzhi—”

Just then, Chen Yuzhi’s shoulders begin to shake and soon he’s laughing, laughing long and loud, causing Jiang Yuelou to look at him in confusion

“Yuzhi?”

Chen Yuzhi then looks over at him and smiles

“I’m free.  Keying and I…we’re finally free”

Jiang Yuelou blinks before he smiles and slowly stands to his feet, moving over to the couch Chen Yuzhi is sitting, wrapping his arms around the young doctor

“You’re free.  And safe now. He can’t hurt you ever again”

Chen Yuzhi then looks at Jiang Yuelou and smiles

“Thank you.  Jiang Yuelou, thank you”

Jiang Yuelou smiles and leans forward, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead before he rests their foreheads together

“You’re welcome”

Later that night, after dinner, as Chen Yuzhi and Jiang Yuelou are sitting on the couch, cuddling, Chen Yuzhi looks over at Jiang Yuelou

“What did Zhan Junbai mean when he called me your lover?”

Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widen and he looks back at him before he blushes

“It means what you think it means”

He then looks at Chen Yuzhi

“I know you came out of a terrible relationship and probably don’t want to date anyone right now and that’s fine, I just—”

“I wouldn’t mind”

Jiang Yuelou blinks

“What?”

Chen Yuzhi smiles

“I wouldn’t mind.  Dating you. I feel safe with you, Jiang Yuelou. Keying feels safe with you…I haven’t felt this safe in a long time”

Jiang Yuelou blinks again before he wraps his arms around Chen Yuzhi and holds him close

“We’ll take things slow, okay?  I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable”

Chen Yuzhi smiles and nods

“Okay”

As they sit on the couch, Chen Yuzhi relaxes against Jiang Yuelou and shuts his eyes; he was grateful for second chances and to start over with someone who understands him, keeps him safe, and…loves him

While he’s resting, Jiang Yuelou looks down at him and smiles softly; he’s going to keep Chen Yuzhi safe.  And he will never hurt him like his ex hurt him…he will not be like him.  Nor will he be like his father, who hit him and his mother. He will be better.  He will never cause harm to or let harm come to Chen Yuzhi.  He deserves a happier life…and Jiang Yuelou wants to be the one to give it to him

Even if he was curious by nature, and his curiosity was what led him to inventing most of his jutsus, Tobirama knew when something was personal and he normally would have stepped aside. He’d rather have acquaintances—shallow relationships—because he didn’t have time for more personal relationships. His days were already packed from his activities; it would be highly unfair to bring someone into this mess.

But those bruises. 

Tobirama knew how battle scars looked like, he’d seen them far too many times, knew how a punch would bruise the underlying tissue and knew the lifecycle of a bruise in general.

Kagami’s last training could very well be the reason for those but a number of reasons stopped Tobirama from assuming that. For starters, the bruises were way too fresh, one-day old at the most, and Kagami’s last spar with him was three days ago. Secondly, the bruises were in a certain pattern that had Tobirama narrow his eyes once Kagami’s shirt had lifted high enough for them to be visible. A pattern that no training or sparring would produce.

And thirdly, Kagami’s own excuses alerted Tobirama that something more sinister had been behind the bruises, something that had Kagami tearing up from just the mere mention of them. 

Fell down? Rather clumsy? Incredulous. 

Tobirama could feel his chest tighten as his anger brewed beneath his calm façade. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what had been going on. He wanted to take Kagami to the medics, they would help in healing them faster; but, the boy’s fears were there for a reason. Medics would—rightfully—alert his guardians, and Tobirama had a guess that they were the reason behind those bruises.

Mind set, Tobirama knelt down to avoid towering over the younger shinobi. “Do you want me to take care of you? Would you get in trouble if you stayed out until next day?”
