Daily Scripture Text:

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28*

Commentary:

This verse from Romans 8 offers profound assurance that God is always at work for the benefit of those who love Him. It reminds us that even in the midst of trials and challenges, God's plan is to bring about good for His people. This does not mean that everything will be easy, but rather that God can redeem and bring purpose to every situation, ultimately working for our spiritual growth and His glory.

Prayer:

The Psalm 143 is a psalm probably composed by King David, in the song, a man, most likely the composer of the psalm, faced with persecution by enemies and oppression, pleads with anguish for God's protection and guidance. This is how the psalm begins: "LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief" Psalm 143:1. God, the Psalm tells us, is the source of righteousness and mercy, and the Lord in his perfection and wisdom comes to the aid of those who fear him with their hearts, that is why the psalmist with devotion invokes God's compassion. Because of his unconditional love (Agape), like the love of a father towards his son, the Lord does not forget his children and especially those who with a heart of flesh always keep him in mind, the love of God is the love perfected by the nature of the good, the love projected to the whole creation of the universe; that is why the psalmist places his life and his total trust in the hands of God, with these words he continues the Psalm: "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life" Psalm 143:8. Fear God and not men, this is the message of the Psalm, because God blesses those who wish to follow his ways, as the proverb explains: "The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day" Proverb 4:18. The Lord, the creator of all things, is rich in mercy (kindness, gentleness) and wisdom, those who live the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity) do not expect destructive unforeseen events, that is, stumbling blocks, and can have their faith in divine blessings, and so affirms the psalmist: "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground" Psalm 143:10.

TRUST AND BETRAYAL

As what I've experienced, eversince, I admit that I am a person who easily give my trust to anyone.

Way back when I was still young, I've been with my aunt the whole time; like we were hanging out together, vibing in somewhere places and sing together like there's no tomorrow. She was the person whom I trusted in my whole life. I shared every happenings in my life to her, I never hid any secret from her, and mostly, I treated her truly like she was my second mother. Even my mom knows how strong our bond is.

Then later on, something terrible happened that broke me apart. My trust turns into an unexpected mistrust. I felt betrayed, and disappointed all at once. I don't know how to react that time, and devastation consumed me. The person whom I trusted so much was the person who degraded, badmouthed me to other people saying that I cannot even go to college by myself, nor even I can pursue a profession someday.

Through that incident, I sudden realized, it was the first time I have lost my trust to anyone. She belittled me and look down on me for the sake that she can encompasses my capabilities as a person, and to rise above me for some reasons. I tried to ignore her, forget everything and move on. I talked to my mom, and she knew everything, even before I do. She told me that I can do it, and she believes in me. No words of her(my aunt) will make me give up in my dreams, nor even my thought of going to college. My mom woke me up from that worst nightmare. I am thankful that she's there for me and never leaves my side. After all, I don't just gain pain, but I also learned.
