Zane : he doesn't eat or drink anymore, but back when he did, he enjoyed experimenting with brewing techniques. the more complicated the better. his interest in coffee was artistic rather than culinary. also i don't think caffeine ever had any effect on him.

Cole : claims he drinks it black, secretly pours in one metric ton of sugar. also claims caffeine doesn't really affect him. that is a blatant lie.

Lloyd : actually drinks it black. jokes about it matching his soul a bit too often.

Nya : she's a coffee snob. only buys from her local all organic micro-torrefaction novelty bar or whatever. constantly shits on starbucks. claims people who buy there have basic taste buds and don't know what real coffee is.

What kind of beverages (they don't need to fit within the DD universe) would the heroes drink? I feel like PD would be fascinated with the pearls in milk tea to a concerning extent. I want to give Abom a caprisun. Love your takes btw!!!

Alhazred: loves a good coffee, likes to try different types, but is very particular about the quality of the beans and torrefaction.

Josephine: gave Alhazred the hint of where to get his perfect 100% arabica, but is more of a tea girl. Her favorites are traditional indian chai and hibiscus kombucha.

Paracelsus: you are correct, she loves a good taro with tapioca pearls. She justifies it by listing the many benefits of mixing tea and milk, but really, she just likes the consistency and the funny balls.

Boudica: mead, of course, but also sports drinks like Gatorade. She needs to replenish her strength!

Barristan: milk and yogurt drinks, abides by the wisdom that you NEED to drink your milk to keep strong and healthy. Only one that thinks Yakult isn't gross.

Missandei: don't ask me why, but she strikes me as a milkshake girl. Like she treats herself with a big burst of sugar at the end of the day because, damn it, she works hard and she earned it!

Audrey: yeah, it's absinthe, big shock. She's also fond of cocktails, especially Death in the Afternoon.

Amani: citric juices. They give her energy and make her think of sunlight when she misses home.

Bonnie: mulled apple cider, hot enough to burn your tongue off. She finds it comforting.

Baldwin: enjoys all sorts of fragant herbal teas, especially flower-based ones.

Bigby: needs to discover hot chocolate IMMEDIATELY.

Damian: is a silly man that dislikes nice things. Only drinks fresh water and communion wine.

Junia: she'd love guaraná (guarana-plant based soft drink). It's fresh and sweet and bubbly and has no sinful/decadent implications. A guiltless pleasure.

Margaret: I'm thinking eggnog for some reason. Maybe because it's something you'd drink at a family party and she had a stable home.

William: makes the kind of vitamin that mixes everything under the sun. It's surprisingly good, though.

Sarmenti: gets obsessed with one drink for like three weeks then spends two years unable to look at it.

Tardif: loves sangria. It's alcoholic enough to get him buzzed but the sugar and vitamins in it are good to keep you from getting completely hammered or the dreaded wine hangover.

@alondradina tagged me to post the last 7 lines of my most recent WIP, so have some porn.

Derek moves to bite at Stiles’ neck. Stiles knows he’s marking him up in ways he absolutely won’t be able to hide, but it seems pointless to try to stop him. He doesn’t really want to, either.

He opens his eyes and sees Peter watching him, chin propped on Derek’s shoulder. He’s just toying with the two of them, hands pressed between them, dipping in and out of their underwear. His eyes are glowing blue, and Stiles can’t look away. When Derek finally lifts his head, his are blue, too. Stiles can’t help the way it makes him shiver, which gets him two equally predatory smiles.

WIP Ask

Got tagged by @alondradina to post the last 7 lines of my most recent WIP, and I’m happy to oblige. I’m a little nervous about this one because I worry that it’s cliche or over done but... who cares! Right?

My most recent Inu/Kag plot bunny focuses on Inuyasha, Miroku, and Sango being a rock band and Kagome was their manager, but due to Inuyasha’s shenanigans, had to leave them to protect her fragile heart. After three years apart, he’s trying to convince her to come back to them, albeit poorly.

WIP:

The long black hair, that normally fell well past Kagome’s shoulders, was bundled into a messy knot on top of her head. Several dark strands had worked their way free and wisped around her face and neck, looking impossibly soft. He almost reached out his hand to wrap those delicate tendrils around his fingers.

Miroku coughed. “Inuyasha?”

He shook himself back to the matter at hand and shifted uncomfortably. How did he ask this? Was there a way to do it gently? He couldn’t think of a better way than to just blurt it out. “We want you to manage us again.”

WIP WEDNESDAY!

I don't usually post my wips unless tagged in games or memes, but today I have written for Bird of Passage after a long, long time and proud of it, so I thought I'd share! Here goes, it's a tiny bit from the upcoming chapter:

Horowitz curled deeper into himself, hugging his arms tight around his torso until it looked as though he’d snap his own ribcage in half. Clearly he struggled not to freak out, and it wasn’t because of their general circumstance. It annoyed her a little.

The second she invited him in, however hard he tried to focus on nothing in particular and stay nonchalant, he visibly couldn’t help his gaze shifting from one little thing to another. All the things. Her things. From the corner of his eye he scrutinised the photograms on the bookcase, then her. The photos again, then the mess in the kitchen. Her, sitting on the bed—her bed—loading a gun. He didn’t think that she was a stranger to such things and said as much; on the other hand he never in his wildest dreams would have thought she was so proficient at handling them.

To Kat he looked like he’d go insane trying to fathom who she was based on the knick-knacks and the facts he learned about her tonight. And what irritated her, yet again, was the assumption written in his face that what he discovered differed to what he already thought he knew. That it confused or even surprised him she was not just a back-alley rat. Not only a thief and a liar.

WIP Wednesday

I was tagged by @torrefaction-of-silver to share an excerpt from a WIP. After focusing solely on Dragon Age: Inquisition for daily June prompts, I'm excited to pick up my Horizon Zero Dawn fics again.

This is a snippet from an Aloy/Avad story, set some vague time post-canon (no HFW spoilers), where Avad tends to Aloy's wounds whenever she returns to Meridian. The idea for this story was inspired by my lovely fellow Alvad enjoyer, @chronic-ghost. THIS ONE'S FOR YOU GURL. 😘

The night is quiet.

There are no brawls drawing the city guards from their perches, no rowdy Oseram staggering through the streets, no bawdy songs rising above the taverns. From the towers of the palace, only a few flickering lights stand out among the darkness—a sleepy sprawl, blinking away the remaining cares of the day.

A city at peace.

And yet, Sun-King Avad knows that while the night may be quiet, it is never silent.

These past years of waiting and listening have attuned Avad’s ears to the intricate after-dark polyphony. Insects chirring, birds chirping and screeching into the inky night sky. He can hear the subtle differences: the dry scrape of a lizard’s claws darting across the stone, compared to the slow drag of a vulture’s talon, heavier and full of malice. The rapid beating of a crow's wings to the steady glide of a hawk. A skittering rat to a frolicking squirrel.

It’s unfathomable, now, that he ever thought the night could be silent.

She’s been gone for weeks.

It’s nothing new, of course—she’s always coming and going. It’s part of what he loves about her, after all. She wouldn’t be Aloy if she wasn’t drifting in and out of Meridian, in and out of his life, like a summer breeze.

But what reassures him is summer, inevitably, always returns.

And so does she.

Getting to know you meme

Thank you for the tag @torrefaction-of-silver!

Favourite time of the year: Summer, absolutely. I’m never happier than when I’m sprawled out in the sun half-naked with an ice cream, like a lizard basking on a rock.

Comfort foods: I have a huge sweet tooth, and the British do cake and puddings really well. If I’m feeling down, then a bowl of sticky toffee pudding or something gooey and chocolate drowned in double cream will always perk me up.

Do you collect anything: It’s not a deliberate collecting effort, but I do seem to accrue books at an impressive rate. Given that I currently move every two years or so, that’s usually to my detriment.

Favourite drinks: The sweet tooth strikes again. I love a sweet, creamy cocktail, or any drink that tastes like perfume: lychee, rose, violet, etc. I once split a bottle of Amaretto with a friend and it was gone in two hours. My partner also likes to pick sloes in the autumn and make sloe gin for us to drink over Christmas, which is always delicious.

I drink obscene amounts of water too, because I am very prone to UTIs but refuse to fuck any less than I want to. One thing that confuses many people is that I don’t drink tea or coffee - in fact, I have never had a cup of coffee. Maybe 2023 will be the year that I take the plunge.

Favorite music artists: I very rarely get attached to specific singers and musicians; I’m much more likely to become obsessed with a song or two!

Current favourite songs: Sapokanikan and Divers by Joanna Newsom, The Whole of the Moon by the Waterboys, Evergreen by Yebba (maybe my favourite song ever), Barbra Streisand singing My Man, Dancing Queen by ABBA, and Clair de Lune, an incredibly basic forever favourite.

Favourite fics: @torrefaction-of-silver’s Fortunate the Man with None. It changed me. Of my own? Raising Hell and Devil May Care are the obvious answers, but I love Good Grief. I think it’s very sad and horny and lush.

Favourite video games: Not a gamer, I’m afraid!
