That's- one of the arts that I like the most, I drew both in different AUs(I say AUs bc "years" would be weird, please anyone correct me q-q). The Melodys have different personalities from each other, but Threeboot and Retroboot have kinda similar vibes, but Threeboot being more sympathetic and empathetic than Retroboot.

Reboot and Cartoon have a more kind and soft personalities, but Cartoon ends up being more morbid than the Reboot one a few times.

A relatively decent moment from Shooter Threeboot I liked given where this started, & it was completely ruined by Lyle's "I'm Totally Not Gay ignore the subtext or brief blurbs from the last few years that says otherwise!" obsession with Gazelle that was one of the reasons I don't like this particular run from the Threeboot.

Genuinely if G3 is going to further develop on the whole Jekyll and Hyde as a metaphor for the trap of "passing privilege"/how people see mixed heritage folks thing from G1, which I just know they'll fuck up because of course they will, I would love for Mr. Hyde to show up (preferably being given the Bruno Madrigal "not as bad as they seem" treatment! idk I just find it funny) and FUCKING FINALLY GET A CANON MONSTER HIGH DESIGN! Dracula already got two!

Also please bring Jackson and Holt back. I'm equal parts hyped for them to show up (if they do) (maybe they're introduced in the cartoon if they don't already show up in the movie?) and TERRIFIED. For the love of ALL THAT IS HOLY NICKELODEON, DON'T MESS THEM UP (even though I just know they'll fuck up, just watch). And if they don't: then mattel is YET AGAIN missing a great opportunity. yes I'm aware I am biased.

...maybe I'm being too much of an optimist here but the way things are shaping up, if the movie is going to be mediocre at best, at the very least it might as well be an interesting trainwreck.

#if they want to reboot it again they should do something like that but good this time #i mean it made sense for when legion first came out. it was right in the middle of the cold war #but like. when reading the reboot so much of its criticism of the government falls flat #when the solution is 'replace the bad president with a good one' #and then they do the same with billionaires #at least i can appreciate that threeboot doesn't do that. i still dislike it tho #oh and also how gates is kinda treated like a joke even though everything he says is true

I've been rereading the dna legion run recently and it made me be even more upset at bendisboot. Like I hate bringing negativity this way, but it's so bad, you do different "darker" takes on the legion like dna like 5yl and you don't loose its spirit, but when you give every character the same stupid personality and have them all be jon kent supports....it just makes me fucking pissed

some reboot MH thoughts

the Cleo doll leak: i think it looks fairly ok, from the low quality it is. yeah the face looks more like the WtMH reboot with larger eyes maybe. i’m glad to see that her mummy wraps are back to being clothing items rather than molded detailing. but the thing i’m frowny faced at is that she’s in a dress. the cool and unique thing with Cleo was how she was usually in pants/leggings. WtMH made her wear dresses, and it’s a bit of a shame to see that continuing

the Frankie and Clawdeen animation designs: -i like the Frankie. i think the addition of blue in her hair is great. the prosthetic leg is fine, it suits her origin (though one would think you wouldn’t build a simulacrum from mixed media, but semantics). Frankie actually faired the best design wise i think in WtMH, so if they carry elements, it won’t be so bad -Clawdeen...eh...i kinda agree with the thought that she’s too purple. i personally never liked the fully lavender haired versions of her (save FdC because it kinda worked with the grayscale); if it was royal purple maybe...i’m also getting more Howleen vibes from her than Clawdeen. i mean, fully colored hair, the glasses, that’s Howleen...

the Movie promo/teaser: again my “they took Howleen and made her Clawdeen” vibes are there as we see Clawdeen with a skateboard. Clawdeen was athletic, but Howleen was the skater punk more. Draculaura doing magic? uh...ok...please don’t say it’s because she’s Romani tied (because in Dracula he employed them) because that’d be terrible. i don’t really remember anything else, other than there’s Deuce. but overall the whole thing really screamed Descendants at me, just the loo and vibe and tone, and the “edgy magic teens go to high school” thing is what they did, so...

so...are we calling this anything specific? 22 Reboot? just Reboot while the first reboot is WtMH? Threeboot, since this is the 3rd incarnation?

the queen of a fictional latin american country named Borgonia. She became queen because her parents died, and a Count named Norvello, kept her hidden from the public, in the hopes that she wouldn't steal the hearts of her citizens and allow him to quietly rule the country with an iron fist.

3. Linda Lee Danvers/Kara Zor-El (Earth-One)

The original that sacrificed herself to save the multiverse/remaining people of the surviving universes. She was brought back in "Many Happy Returns" but then goes back to original Earth-One. I think she's now alive somewhere because of convergence??? She also showed up as Linda Danvers's guardian angel and visited Deadman on Christmas. She's met the original legion

4. Ellie Leeds

She was the first to discover Supergirl's arrival, but was exposed to X-Kryptonite and fell into a coma. When she awoke years later - after a chance meeting with Supergirl - she started exhibiting Supergirl's powers, and also believed she was the Girl of Steel.

5. Louise-L

the Supergirl of the 5020th Century; She traveled back in time, to prevent the goals of some villains named Toxus and Tal Belok

6. Matrix/Mae Kent

Matrix, a protoplasmic creation of an alternate universe Lex Luthor. She's met the reboot legion

Linda Danvers, who fused with Matrix to become an Earth-Angel

Linda and Matrix unfuse and Linda goes on an adventure to find Matrix. I think she's met one of the legions?

The New 52 Earth 2 version of Karen Starr, she has a similar origin to post-crisis and new 52 Supergirl where Superman grew up before she arrived on Earth, but like Earth-Two, the Superman and Lois of her world basically adopted her. She became Power Girl due to getting stranded on Earth 0

She was initially introduced as Clark's descendant. For some reason, despite being in the future, Legion of Superheroes had tie-ins for event annuals. Superman editorial (presumably because of Byrne) wanted to get rid of all kryptonians, so guess what happens during Millenium:

Due to editorial mandates, Kara was erased from the legion's history. Laurel Gand, a distant relative of Lar Gand takes her place. She basically has the same history as Kara except Khunds keep on trying to kill Daxamites

A time paradox duplicate of Laurel Gand.

The helmet supposedly gives superpowers to those who wield it - but it does not. Superboy tricks Lana into thinking it does due to Clark wearing the helmet while bullets bounced off of him

lyle for my 11th le-june-aire! this version of lyle that exists in my head is they/them. okay.

definitely one of my favorite designs i've done. i love lyle, and i think that their design deserves to match how much i love the character

since they're a human legionnaire, i didn't have any work to do with big changes, so instead i focused on making them look like a Perfectly Average Human. average build, average height, average skin tone, average hair length and texture - i thought it made sense if lyle was someone you wouldn't really be able to pick out in a crowd. and that goes hand in hand with how i "designed" their gender too, i think some androgyny suits them

i was thinking along a similar vein for their costume - when your power is to not be seen, why would you have a costume that focused on form over function? i don't love the threeboot version of this character, but i always love the look of superheroes wearing normal clothes over their spandex, and lyle is the perfect char for that to me. a comfy sweatshirt and shorts with running shoes, all just a little bit of a nod to a true Costume. i also always draw them with gloves, to fit with their whole spy deal

i went with the blacks and whites for them because. that beige look is just really bad okay. i did pay homage to it in those bands around the cuffs and bottom of their sweatshirt, as well as their headband. which is just a normal headband now. i debated nixxing it altogether, since i also wanted to give them prominent bangs, but their original headband thing is pretty silly, so this one can be a little silly too
