Erik Lehnsherr is a better man than me, because if a little twink that thinks the world is sunshine and rainbows would have told me "They are just following orders" I would have bitch slapped him all the way to next week.
That alone is proof that they are gay, because if Charles would had told any other jew something along the phrase "They are just following orders", He wouldn't have made it off the fucking beach, let alone continue to be treated like a "friend".
Like for real Charles is so lucky Erik is gay for him. There isn't a single jew, let alone a holocaust Survivor that would have let that slide as smoothly as Erik did.
Being a pretty twink saved his life from his own stupidity.

Frankly I think Alistair being mildly shitty to that mage in Ostagar seems pretty in-character for the guy he is before the massive, life-altering trauma that is the Ostagar massacre wherein he sees all of his Grey Warden comrades, his beloved mentor/father figure, and his beloathed half-brother/convenient-target-of-projection absolutely torn to shreds by literal Thedas boogeymen. IIRC Morrigan and Flemeth both comment on his wack behavior after Ostagar and then by the time we get to Lothering Alistair just fully surrenders any and all responsibility (and, frankly, agency) to the player's Warden for the foreseeable future. It can then take anywhere from a couple IRL hours to the entire second act of the game for him to retake almost any amount of it back. And depending on the player's choices in dialogue, and especially whether or not they choose to romance him, we may only see flashes of that guy we met at Ostagar before he potentially morphs into almost someone else entirely (hardened!King!Alistair). All that to say, I don't actually think it's a useful criticism of "characterization" to bring up Alistair's glibness as compared to his behavior in the majority of the game because from where I'm standing (looking directly at his snottiness about Cailan, his complaints about being assigned to the Tower of Ishal, his Templar-esque focusing on Morrigan and Flemeth being apostates, his generally pretty brusque manner with the Warden recruits) it seems fairly in-line with the rest of his behavior at Ostagar.

i hate the commercialisation of the avengers inside the mcu both bc i find it cringy and meta but also bc it narratively doesn’t make sense.
we spent ten years establishing that the avengers are a contentious presence, civil war was literally about people not trusting them bc of what/who they are and now it’s almost completely erased and everyone loves them now? and don’t even get me started on rogers the musical
the way clint reacts makes it seem like the writers are trying to say it’s in poor taste but it’s less bc it trivialises a literal alien invasion but bc clint misses natasha and it hurts him to see an interpretation of her. not bc people are singing and dancing about an event that got hundreds if not thousands of people killed. the closest american equivalent i can think of is 9/11. people can’t even joke about it without being torn apart and it happened over 20 years ago. the battle of new york happened 10 years ago in the current mcu, the snap happened maybe a year ago, you’re telling me everyone’s chill with a musical about one of the worst days of their lives?
“i can do this all day” being their tagline encapsulates everything i dislike about it. the only people steve said that to were nazis that were immediately killed, tony who would never talk about what happened in siberia and the 2012 version of steve says it to him. no one else would know that phrase and acting like it’s something he crowed from the rooftops is at best a plot hole and at worse, an indictment of how little care the writers are having for the new era of the mcu

Excuse me?? Commander Cody?? Crosshair?? Free my boys please. Someone remove their chips.
I will be leaving to fight the empire. I will free them. I swear if one of them gets hurt I will-. If they have to hurt their brothers I will be throwing hands.
Good soldiers follow orders

i think what's most agitating for me about the whole franchise (and i might be wrong cause im frankly no expert and i need someone to guide me if i am getting this wrong) is like... there is no distinguishable fashion trend from whatever we have in hotd to whatever we received in GoT, even tho fashion style actually rotates quite quickly when you look back in history. similarly, while i can see that there are some outstanding hairstyles distinguishing the south and the north, as well as the increasing use of fur and leather (for northerners vs the southerners) but liek .... thats about it ? [brain explodes]

the crazy thing about being a really conflict averse person that now is in a position of authority is it's so surprising to me how unpleasant having to enforce rules is like we get it i am not cut out to be a teacher but like... having to meet with unruly students SUCKS big time and i hate having to smack them down but the other option (being a pushover) is also really unfair to me and to the other students and as a student i would have had no sense of how anxiety inducing being the professor meeting with students could be...of course i would never act how my students are acting so maybe the point is moot

People are talking about not voting for Biden.
Again.
I'm just so tired of this argument.
I just can't do Trump again.
I can't.
His incompetence killed so many people. A panel estimated 40% of COVID deaths could have been averted.
One of those deaths was my mother.
She was killed because people didn't trust the vaccines and they didn't think masks were worth the inconvenience. That man could have gone on TV and said "This is the Trump vaccine and it is great." He could have sold fucking MAGA masks on his website. He had 100% influence over his dipshit followers and could have used that for the greater good. But he was too vain to wear a mask in public and bungled the vaccine rollout.
And now I worry some of my trans loved ones may not make it through another far right administration. They have this giant target on their back right now and conservatives seem determined to eradicate as many trans lives as possible.
I wrote a whole ass post about how I didn't care for Biden. I still don't. But when I try to imagine what a right wing administration would be doing right now... that seems like it would be a nightmare orders of magnitude worse than the current nightmare.
As someone with an untreatable chronic illness, I know the feeling of being presented with choices where all of them suck. And I have had to survive by choosing the least sucky option over and over.
It feels bad every single time.
I hate it.
And I still fucking choose.
It should be different. There should be better choices. I shouldn't have to choose the least bad thing among all bad things.
But there are people and things in this world I feel are worth sticking around for, so I continue to choose the least sucky thing.
