on my nerves [kaeya, genshin impact]
enchanting, you were. always the talk of the town, the one who dazzled under the sun. no matter what you do, it was graceful. whether it be as simple as shopping in the markets, or whether it be tearing down opponents triple your size, in everything you do, you shone.
that's what made dear, captain kaeya despise you. you were always so elegant, it displeases him.
"i, myself, cannot fathom how arrogant they are." he would say to a nearby knight as you walked through the halls of the headquarters, chin up and posture straight. ignoring the overt stink eye captain kaeya would give you. you never knew why he had disliked you, for it is proper that anyone shall do what they do while looking their best. he probably does not care for how his clothes are fashioned—judging by the horrendous fur piece sat atop his shoulders, he really must not care.
the quiet—on your half atleast—arguments that happen between the both of you is considered quite humorous by the other knights. the scowls you both share and the silent competitions that occur whenever on field, your colleagues find it extremely amusing.
captain kaeya and you, both, do not feel the same, however.
you have endured every tease, every comment, every rock or stick thrown at your way, you had put up with grace, and patience. you resisted, and calmed yourself multiple times, resisting the urge to just slice the poor captain down in half. albeit all the urges, you held and kept to yourself. up until now.
you had just finished your field work and was fatigued from the lack of help, due to the uprising numbers of hilichurls and treasure hoarders that the knights have been trying to get rid of.
kaeya spotted you holding onto the walls of the hall, a smirk finding its way to his face. "lazing about? that's quite unprofessional of you." he laughed mockingly, standing infront of you with his arms crossed.
you didn't know what happened but something snapped within you, a fire igniting as it was doused with the fuel you've been storing somewhere. without missing a beat, your palm met his cheek, slapping the smug grin off his face.
"i have been working all day, fighting hoardes alone, without relief or back-up. you have no right to say that to me while you sit in the confines of your office. i will not sit back and let you disrespect me anymore, sir kaeya."
kaeya scoffed, half shocked, half pained. his hand reached to rub his jaw, mouth agape.
"who knew you had it in you?" he squinted, an amused smile evident on his lips. you almost rolled your eyes, standing upright and smoothing down your clothes.
"ive always had it in me, you just irk me." you say, turning around to walk away. heart pounding in your chest as you balled your fists beside you, leaving a bewildered kaeya behind you.
he must admit, he liked the way you treated him just now. pink tinged his cheeks as he hid a smile behind his gloved hand.
a/n: *cough* masochist kaeya *cough* anwww... its been too long (A LITERAL YEAR AND EIGHT MONTHS) since i last wrote uhm... but im back! i guess 😭 love y'all! - mori :*

Illusion and Reality
I got a bit lazy yesterday with correction, so today is a late post! Finally got the chance to write for my boy Tighnari ♥ I also crowned him yesterday so this is a special piece for my fav bow character ♥ [Referencing this post]
Fandom: Genshin Impact Pairings: Tighnari x GN!Reader Warnings: Yandere, Sexual Themes, Hallucinations (Mushrooms), Blowjob, Obsessiveness, Non-Con Actions towards the end
Prompt: Intoxication - Drugs, alcohol, hormones running rampant and space sex pollen, the senses are not quite lost, but the will to struggle is gone. @sintember
»»———————— ♡ ————————««
“Be careful!” you called after him as Tighnari made his way into the wilderness. Cheerful, sweet, your voice was just like you, and it haunted him even when he finally sat down after scavenging the lush forest he swore to protect. Truth be told, it had been hard to leave this morning. Especially when you called after him, still with a bit of drowsiness in your eyes since you two did a late round along the trails yesterday. Tighnari wasn’t especially tired, but he would have preferred staying back and crawling into bed with you for another nap.
Actually, he could need some sleep after watching over you the rest of the night.
But no could do. His studies, a lifelong commitment and passion, were only trumped by you now. As much as it hurt him not to spend every second by your side, he had a good reason to indulge in his other favorite pastime. Especially now that he learned about a very new sort of mushrooms with peculiar effects on one’s perception.
The taste was rather bland, the consistency crumbling away under his fangs. But when he opened his eyes again, Tighnari was in heaven. It must have been heaven—you were there. Standing before him, a slight breeze blew through your hair as you turned around, smiling at him. With wide-open arms, you ran towards him, and he caught you, felt the warmth of your body pressing against his, and heard your heart beat excitedly as you nuzzled your face into his shoulder.
Archons, he could smell you.
This illusion, madness, was palpable for all his senses. His ears were large enough to hear you breathe, his fingers not too calloused to caress your skin. He smelled Sumeru Rose on you when he pushed his nose into your hair, and if he were to stick out his tongue, he could have probably tasted apples on your lips. This mushroom was fucking amazing in its impact on those who consumed it.
“Are you just going to hug me?” he chuckled, filling his senses with your smell one more time before allowing your head to fall back, your eyes meeting his. You were exactly how he remembered you, the days he spent memorizing every little detail about you finally paying off as his mind created this perfect replica of you. The only thing it couldn’t do… was talk. But you let your body speak for you instead, rising upwards to meet his lips. Letting out an excited moan, Tighnari leaned in, licking over your lips until you parted them, allowing him to deepen the kiss as he pleased. Until you both were too breathless to continue.
You were so fucking alluring, rubbing your body against his while his hands fell to your ass, gripping and squeezing it through your clothes. Your eyes hooded as you wrapped your arms around his neck, granting him to move you as he pleased. Tighnari wasted no time pulling you on his lap, parting your legs until your hips fit snugly on top of his, the throbbing of his cock already too much to bear for the usual so composed forest watcher.
It was true. Tighnari loved you. He loved you from the moment you came to Gandharva Village, spinning a tale about how you needed to get out of the city for a while and maybe wanted to take your chance as a forest watcher. It was all a lie. He could see from your clothes that you weren’t a citizen of Sumeru City but a treasure hoarder from archons-know-where. And still, he fell in love with you, your scent, your smile, the excited jumps you did whenever he took you out to learn something new. Even though he knew you’d leave once you found what you were searching for in his forest, he loved you. He needed you.
Desperately rutting upwards into this illusion of you, he imagined all the ways he’d sprawl you out on the forest floor, let the sun lick over your body that shone with sweat as you two mingled. He had imagined countless times by now where he’d take you—by the river, near the waterfall, against the side of a mountain. Nothing would be safe of you two if only he had his way, and your fluids would leave behind waypoints he could remember even long after you were gone.
But instead, he had to resort to this, a mere illusion slipping down his body, brushing aside his hair and gently biting into the side of his neck, claiming him as he wished you would. Your hands wandered lower while his caressed you upwards, eventually finding hold at the back of your neck and his fingers tangling in your hair. You worked away at his pants, knowing exactly where to reach and what to unbuckle, just like he did. No one knew it better than his own mind, after all.
Soon enough, his cock sprung free, teased by the wind blowing against the hot flesh, leaving nothing about his desire for you to anyone else’s imagination. You grinned, looking up at him teasingly. Gripping your hair, he forced your lips to his once more, indulging in the kiss before nibbling your lips like a silent order. When he finally released you, you lowered your head, wasting no time passing on the kiss to the tip of his cock. Then, with long, deliberate strokes, you licked him from his balls to his tip, your tongue slipping side to side after a few straight lines, spreading your wetness accompanied by your hot breath.
After waiting for you for so long, never getting to satisfy even the smallest of his desires in the real world, he couldn’t wait. Tightening his grip on you, Tighnari forced you down his length, listening to the slurps and imagining the unrestrained sound of moans that should have accompanied it. You were so wet, your tongue doing its best to wrap around and please his shaft while he bopped your head up and down. His hips couldn’t hold back from jerking into the motion, spit collecting around his base every time your face smacked into his skin.
Tighnari wished this was real.
Deep down, he knew it wasn’t. But if it was better than this, then it might be his personal way of surrendering. He would do anything if it meant having just half as good of an experience as this with you. And with every sloppy smack, he wished he could invade something else of yours too. Between your legs instead of your mouth, the seed that was threatening to splurt out any second almost waisted between your lips.
Regardless, he couldn’t stop his pending orgasm, his hand pulling your lips off him once he unloaded all the pent-up jizz down your throat. The most obscene sight unraveled in front of him, your expression full of lust while his seed dripped from your mouth. Tighnari quickly pushed it back in with his fingers, watching your tongue lap out to lick it off hungrily.
A growl—a sound so feral and ancient—formed in his throat as he watched you lap up his essence. He wanted nothing more but to push you back into the soft grass and take your body like you had taken his heart—completely. But before he could, your mouth opened again, and a single word fell from your lips.
“Tighnari?”
No, it couldn’t be. This illusion of yours couldn’t speak, couldn’t utilize your sweet, tender voice, even if the memory of it was ingrained in his brain. Even if his name coming from your lips made his cock jolt right upwards again, desperate and needy for attention, Tighnari knew something wasn’t right. And unfortunately, as much as he didn’t want to stop the experiment here, he couldn’t ignore this turn of events.
Forcing himself out of the illusion, he opened his eyes. His gaze wasn’t focusing as fast as he wished it would, making him vulnerable to the wildlife and dangers of the forest. But it allowed him to hear it again, his favorite word from your lips. “Tighnari, are you okay?”
Fuck.
His name sounded like a prayer from your lips. Succulent like the juiciest apples and the worry threading throughout it was like another maddening illusion at its finest. Rolling his head to the side, he faced you, and you breathed a sigh of relief, placing your hand over your heart as you recovered. “You took a long time to come back. Had me worried there for a sec,” you sighed before a smile crossed your features again. “I thought you were a goner.”
Your joke was lost on the way your body relaxed now that you knew he was alive. You shouldn’t have been in the forest; he forbid it. Once again, you were trying to search for the treasure you wanted. A treasure that would take you from him. You got up again, stretching, before looking down at him, and he swore, one step closer, and he wouldn’t have hesitated to bury his face between your thighs and show you just how much of a goner he really was. Having gone completely mad like this was new to him too, and he hated how his head thrummed with the aftereffects of the mushroom he ate, denying him reasonable thoughts.
The only thing that got through to him was need. He needed you. On the ground, below him, on your back, your stomach, legs wrapped around his waist, moaning and choking on his cock. All while clenching around his shaft tightly with every thrust while he rutted his seed deep inside you. And he needed you now. Now, tonight, tomorrow, for the rest of his damn life. Needed you in his bed, to build a nest for you, keep you there, naked and ready for him. Such… animalistic instincts that he never had before were now plaguing his mind.
Maybe he was still under the effects of the illusion. Maybe the spores of the fungi had gotten to his head. Right, it wasn’t him. This version of him wasn’t who he was! Well… unless… What if it was? What if it was the real him? The one that was overshadowed by rationality and sanity most of the time? The true desires deep inside him?
When you turned around, prompting him to return to the village, you were so vulnerable, trusting. Tighnari snatched your ankle before you could even see it coming, bringing you down to the ground close to him. And just a second later, he was on top of you, panting, admiring the way you were submissive beneath him. Him, Tighnari. Worse than any Rishboland Tiger. If they were territorial, then what was he?
And as his cock urged him on, the growl he had bitten back before returned to the once domesticated fox, and he let it, your eyes widening at the sound.
“Mine.”

Emotional damage aside
How do you think buggy arc, assuming we will get one, can play out without him interacting with shanks? And do you think buggy just getting over his past friendship would be having equally satisfying impact on the story as them becoming close again?
well, my shuggy bias is 100,000% at play here, but i think a version of buggy’s arc that doesn’t involve shanks in the end just can’t be as satisfying as one that does involve him, whether it’s a proper reconciliation or just confrontation/closure. the way buggy thinks and feels about shanks has been such a huge part of the way buggy talks about his life and thinks about his goals, it would feel imbalanced to me if he wasn’t there at the end, somehow.
but what could a buggy arc without shanks in it look like? that’s an interesting question. two options (one a hurt no comfort version of my lt fic still pretty shanks-oriented, one an honest attempt at a shanksless buggy arc) below the cut.
if we’re just saying no interactions, shanks can still be part of buggy’s story in absentia, as he has been for much of canon. something to strive for, the measuring stick of buggy’s life, always frustratingly out of reach… until now. now buggy can practically taste the look of shock and awe on shanks’ face when buggy beats him to the one piece! it’s gonna be so good, getting everything he wants and rubbing it in his stupid face. but then shanks dies. shanks is dead. he never got the one piece, and he never got to see buggy get the one piece, and buggy’s never going to see him again, and— the one piece is within buggy’s reach, and so is the person who killed shanks. what does buggy want more: riches or revenge? what does he value more: treasure or an old friend?
buggy wants the one piece for two reasons, right? one: because it’s the biggest most valued most legendary treasure on the planet, and buggy loves treasure. and two: because it’s captain roger’s treasure, and buggy wants to inherit that legacy, if shanks won’t do it. so i think we could manage a satisfying no-shanks arc for buggy if it involves him proving himself worthy of roger’s legacy. not by getting the one piece—i may be engaging in buggy-centric speculation but i think we all know that thing’s meant for luffy—but by gaining the respect of cross guild, and of the other emperors, and of the wider pirate world. the marines are wary of their misapprehension of buggy’s charisma; let’s see his real inspirational ability used for a good purpose. let’s have half the world call him a hero and half call him a monster, and either way mean that they consider him roger’s successor! let’s have rayleigh show up and tell buggy he’s proud of him!!!

My love for Tokyo Ghoul.
Tumblr media
I cannot express how much I love Tokyo Ghoul.
I finished my first reread last Saturday, and I’ve been experiencing classic TG brainrot. There has been so much going through my mind related to TG and I wanted to put it all down, somewhere, anywhere. I thought jotting it down into a tumblr post might be nice. I haven’t ever done this before, and I often find it hard to put all of my thoughts and feelings into words. Honestly, I didn’t expect everything to hit as hard as it did compared to when I first read TG. Considering I already knew the major reveals and plot points, I didn’t think they would make me feel the same way they did on my first experience, but I was very wrong. From start to finish, I loved every bit of it, probably even more than I did on my first read. Remembering the main aspects of the story and the different arcs and plot points actually gave me the chance to focus on and appreciate everything about TG so much more. Be it the characters or the art or the themes and symbolism. Also, I definitely think reading it at a slower pace helped, considering I bingeread it the first time. Without a doubt, Tokyo Ghoul is my favourite piece of fiction ever.
Tokyo Ghoul had everything I could ask for. The aspect of TG that I treasure most is the cast. It has a wonderful, wonderful group of characters. I can’t emphasize how much I love the TG cast. I probably have a special spot for almost every single one, at least among the significant characters. Be it Hinami, Tsukiyama, Hide, Eto, Juzo, Urie, Amon, Saiko, Akira, Nishiki, Takizawa, Renji, Ayato, Arima.. Ishida just presented them in a way where I could do nothing but be heavily invested in them. I can’t really think of any other manga that made me love the characters this much. Granted that stories like One Piece, HxH, JJK, and Jigokuraku each have an amazing cast with characters I love, I just feel different about the characters in Tokyo Ghoul. It might be because of the deep level of empathy I developed for each one of the characters? Maybe I could better relate to or understand what they went through? I personally think Tokyo Ghoul combined fiction with reality so well. When I say fiction, I mean in the sense of fantasy. When I read manga like One Piece, I feel immersed in the world and it takes me out of reality when I’m reading. Even for manga in real world settings, such as JJK, I get so caught up in the outwordly story that I don’t really have a grapse on reality. What I’m trying to say is that with TG, I really felt that many things depicted in the story were directly applicable to the real world we live in. It gave us a two-sided story where we constantly had a perspective of the Investigator and Ghoul world, and how their actions impact everything. It felt like this could be something happening in real life. In fact, many things shown in the manga are happening in real life but in the context of only humans. I’ll probably elaborate on that further after I finish talking about the characters or on another post. What I noticed is that I grew so much more fond of some characters I grew during this reread, who I didn’t really care much about before. Ui, Hanbeh, Hirako, Naki, Hairu, Hsiao.. I could go on. One of Ishida’s many strengths is his character writing and development. Kaneki is on a special tier of his own, to the point where I would say he is the best written character in manga. It might be a stretch for some, but the complexity and depth of Ken Kaneki is just something I haven’t gotten over since I first read TG. Aside from our MC, the way Ishida developed our side cast was amazing. Notably, I felt the strongest character arcs (aside from Touken) over the course of two parts were Arima, Eto, Suzuya, Amon, Shuu, Hinami, and Yomo. In relation to :re, Urie and Mutsuki probably had my favourite character arcs. Every character got a share of magic. On the reread, I got to appreciate certain characters a lot more.
The concept of investigators coming from the Hakubi Garden piqued my interest in Hairu, Hsiao, and Squad 0. I barely noticed them when I first read TG. When Hairu debuted, I had no clue she would be such a menace with her quinque. My first impression was that she was a cute and mysterious airhead. When she faced Matsumae and the others for the first time, I was blown away by her skills. Arima was very different, as he was built up constantly throughout the entire story. Kishou was literally named the “Reaper”, I don’t know what else you could to build that lethal, frightening aura he had. When I saw Hairu battle with such ease, I was instantly a fan. In an exagerrative sense, it felt like we were somewhat seeing a female version of Arima. That is where I really understood how special these Hakubi Garden children were. My appreciation for Squad 0 jumped up from then on. Hirako, similarly to Ui, had my attention from the 20th ward anteiku battle, and I really liked the bigger role he had to play in :re. Hsiao was the “new” quinx that immediately grabbed my attention. I loved her character design and reading that she came from the Garden meant I was going to read in joy whenever she was action. Hairu and Hsiao gave me some of my fav moments during the Rosé and Dragon arcs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ayato is someone I absolutely love after the reread. The way he matured reminds me a lot of Urie, although each of them did so differently. When we first met Ayato pre time skip, I couldn’t think of him as anything but an annoying rat. He wasn’t nice, he was aggresive, and I can’t really blame him because he was just one of many victims of the cruel world. I immediately caught onto how much Ayato had grown by TG :re. The panel where he tells the Torso, in calm and reasonable fashion, that him and his gang are nicer than the other Aogiri ghouls. I instantly remembered how he told Kaneki the same exact thing while he was repeatedly kicking him. The contrast in how Ayato acted in these two situations made it clear that Ayato had changed, from someone filled with rage and violence to someone composed and rational. Renji did say, during his fight with Arima, that the Kirishima siblings were like their mother - out of control. Touka undergoes a similar transition. I understood that both of them had let go of the past, which previously filled their hearts with hatred and anger. All his future actions and mannerisms displayed further showed us that Ayato has really grown up. I definitely think that Hinami played a key part in helping Ayato change. When Ayato first met Hinami, he still seemed somewhat unapproachable, like he was when he dealt with Kaneki. When Ayato got angry at her and Hinami laughed, it was probably the start of a new path for Ayato. Similarly to Touka, I felt that he was dealing with the despair of being alone in a cruel world. Parents gone, sister not there. Ayato dealt with it different to how Touka did, but they both felt alone and angry. Hinami gave Ayato the opportunity to feel that warmth he was missing - to fill that void in his heart, similarly to how Kaneki did with Touka. I could talk a lot more about Ayato. “Keep going Kaneki” will always give me goosebumps. He had accepted Kaneki, not only as his King, but as his brother in law.
Tumblr media
I was dragged into getting all sympathetic and attached to Naki. He might be “bros” with that psychopath Jason, but I just couldn’t shake off how I felt about him. The loyalty he showed was second to none. Whether it was that panel of him mumbling his comrades names or when he protected Miza or when he pledged loyalty to the One Eyed King, on top of the fact hes a goofball, I couldn’t help but like the guy. I won’t forget how he improved his vocab through reading because Ken advised his people to do so.
The Quinxes shined ever so brightly, which I expected as I only had good memories of them from the first time I read TG :re. Every single Quinx left a lasting impression on me. All for different reasons. I could talk constantly about each Quinx. Kuki Urie, who had one of the best character arcs I’ve ever seen in animanga, will always be a hero for me. I cannot get over how he turned from an egotistical and self centered dog to a considerate and thoughtful leader. What I really loved about Urie is that his character development was extremely visible. You noticed it in the story and you would notice how you changed from “I hate this dude” to “I love him!”. So much about him had changed, which was conveyed through even the smallest details. I noticed how little he would smile before losing Shirazu, and how much more he smiled when he became Qs leader. That moment where Urie just smiles at the sight of Saiko crying tears of joy after finding out Maman is still alive is so heartwarming. Saiko is the most precious character in TG. I could not get enough of how adorable she was. When she saved Urie after framing out, when she saved Mutsuki on the dragon, when she was hugging Maman when he was still in a coma, or when she was holding Touka’s hand as they waited for Ken to return. On top of giving us heartfelt moments, she was incredible with her kagune and I’m so glad she was the Quinx who had the ability of using her kagune so freely, I felt it really suited her character. Toru Mutsuki probably has one of the creepiest character arcs I’ve ever seen. Normally, I don’t get too affected by fictitious violence, in the sense that I don’t let it lurk in my mind later, but I just could not get over Mutsuki and her story. Chapter 79. No exagerration, Chapter 79 is one of the most sickening and provoking chapters I’ve ever read. Pre Rushima, I loved Mustuki. She reminded me so much of Kaneki before he had met Jason and tragedy occured. The parallels between Mutsuki and Kaneki were very clear throughout the story, even during Rushima and especially during Chapter 79. I could say so much about what that chapter meant and how it made me feel. Kaneki was an example of someone who was able to overcome his demons, whereas Mutsuki was an example of someone who couldn’t. She went onto an absolutely hopeless path as some sort of psychopath which was really painful to see. I could talk endlessly about Mutsuki. As a character, I love her as much as many of my favs. Urie and Mutsuki are perfect examples of side characters that just stick to your mind. I hadn’t read TG in two years, but whenever someone talks about well-written side characters, they spring to mind.
Tumblr media
Furuta was an unbelievable antagonist. Ishida managed to create the TG version of the Joker. Nimura managed to be evil and heartless while running a troll gimmick. I couldn’t help but laugh at his trolling, even in the most serious situations. In addition to the Joker, he reminded me of Aizen. The fact that he has basically planned everything that has happened in the plot, from the moment he dropped the steel beams to the moment Ken eats all of the Oggai, was just so Aizen-esque. As bad as Furuta was, his backstory still broke my heart. The despair he felt stemmed from the world he had to live in and he decided to destroy it all.
Tumblr media
I just have to leave a special mention in this post for Tsukiyama and Hinami. I adore both of them, especially with how :re went on and concluded.
Tumblr media
Kaneki and Touka have a special place in my heart forever. I absolutely adore them and I love them so much. My favourite characters in all of fiction. I can write pages of what I feel and think about them. My sweet eyepatch and darling rabbit. Ishida gave them royalty treatment in every way possible. Everytime they were together in a panel, my heart just filled up with joy.
Tumblr media
TG art is unrivaled. I haven’t and I doubt I will ever come across anything with art like this. It just isn’t something you can replicate or imitate. Every drawing manages to convey different feelings and ideas.. I never truly understood the beauty of art until I read Tokyo Ghoul. It isn’t just a drawing or depiction of a certain scenario. It bursts out at you with emotion. There are obviously other manga which have got amazing art. Berserk and Vagabond come to mind. I just feel TG art contains so many thought and emotion provoking layers to it while simultaneously being aesthetically pleasing. The art is obviously one of the main appeals of TG. You could pull almost any panel and I guarantee it would look amazing. A panel may provoke fear, sadness, despair, joy, amazement, or a bundle of different emotions in you when looking at it. Chapter 145 is a perfect example. An entire chapter with no speech at all. An entire chapter of nothing but beautiful spreads and panels depicting the destructive and chaotic nature of the dragon. “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
Tumblr media
What I really love about Tokyo Ghoul and what I believe attracts me to it the most are the themes and ideas that Ishida is constantly trying to convey, and how so many of them are directly applicable to the real world. Tokyo Ghoul gave me so many life lessons on so many different things. Whether it was related to loneliness, relationships, discrimination, inner peace, normalcy in life, the purpose of life and moving forward. It all comes to mind when reading TG. Each theme or idea is obviously interconneted with the others, and I really feel that they’re directly applicable to the world we live in. We obviously don’t have to deal with ghouls, but many of the struggles and conflicts that our beloved characters faced reminded me of the things we face in our everyday lives. I could relate to some of the things that they showed in the manga in relation to these ideas. “This world is wrong.” I haven’t come across any line in anime or manga that stuck with me like this did, until I read :re. “The world isn’t wrong. It just is.” The way grey morality was depicted in TG in relation to what is right or wrong is an issue I feel strongly exists in our world, especially in today’s day and age. This is probably because the setting and events in Tokyo Ghoul remind me so much of the things happening in our world. TG just had the perfect mix of fiction and reality. I was immersed in a different world that was filled with ghouls and humans while somewhat keeping me linked to reality. I don’t really know how to put it into words. If I had to explain it, I guess it kept me fully engaged in this fictional setting where ghouls existed, where I would just constantly think about and get anxious, sad, or excited over the characters. At the same time, the events and dialogue taking place in the story constantly made me go back and think about the real world and how it relates or applies to reality. I was absorbed by this fictitious world while always thinking about how it relates to our world.
I just have to mention how special the writing and storytelling in TG is. I noticed such things individually and got to do my research on them, in addition to discovering other aspects to his writing and drawings from reddit. In Tokyo Ghoul, it was clear from the start that every single panel, drawing and piece of dialogue served a purpose. There was always some sort of significance to whatever Ishida was showing us. A panel could include either subtle details in his art, such as the constant tarot card hints or the habits the characters had like Kaneki touching his chin or Mutsuki clenching her arm. A panel could directly imply something, such as making a literature reference. This added more depth in relation to the story, the characters and what Ishida wanted to convey through various methods of symbolism. Reading about the context of the tarot cards, literature references and metaphors made the story much more interesting. It helped us understand the TG characters on a deeper level in terms of what themes they symbolize and what role in the story they represent.
I feel like I’ve written a good share on Tokyo Ghoul for now. I understand that much of what I said might seem all over the place, but I just wanted to speak from the heart. I have so much more to speak on, which I will probably do in other posts. I guess my final words on this have to be:
I LOVE TOKYO GHOUL!

I don’t remember if we’ve talked about this yet, but I’ve been thinking about how much Haru starts to work through some of the harder-to process emotions weighing him down in his dreams (not fully, but in useful bits and pieces). This has popped up throughout the series, but becomes even more prevalent heading into FS2, and it’s made me think about a possible dream I wish we could’ve seen heavily inspired by this moment in Moana.
Over and over again, Haru returns to his late grandmother’s words about becoming ordinary, both in relation to how he understands his position in the world (within his community, amongst his friends/family, later on with his teams and fans, etc etc) and where he’d like to be — will he accept becoming “ordinary,” whatever that has come to mean to him, or will his ambitions lead him to not go gentle into that good night? FS2’s way of addressing these central questions aside (don’t even get me started) what I think would’ve been impactful and neat to see is Haru revisiting that old quote/idea with her in his line of sight in a dream. This could go many ways (and I’d love to see someone else’s take with this as a prompt of sorts), but here’s one of my initial visions of how it could play out:
Haru, sitting outside of his home in Iwatobi, looking down like he’s contemplating something, like the answer might be lying in the grass. A weathered outstretched hand coming into view at the edge of his vision, familiar enough to make him look up at a face even here (in this nebulous moment outside of time) he knows he’s missed for quite awhile. She doesn’t speak, simply smiles at him, as Haru asks quiet questions. “Where are you taking me?”
Answers are not said, but they come to Haru anyway. Forward.
“Toward… what, getting older? More tomorrows where I’m tired and lost?”
Some, maybe.
“You made it all look easy. Becoming older, becoming ordinary.”
Hmm.
“I thought… I thought the hard part of finding a dream was over. I thought I made peace enough with the eyes on me to make it all hurt less until I eventually, I don’t know, arrived at the right moment to fade into a quiet happy ending.”
Not so simple.
A pause, because words are hard, because he feels he has the space for it here, because his grandmother hasn’t said a word but kind eyes that he’s missed so much are gradually unspooling the mess inside his chest. Then, “how do I find an ‘ordinary’ to fade into after all of this? How much do I have to let go?” … “what do I still have left to let go?”
Whatever compassion that is piloting his subconscious doesn’t respond to his fear with some explanation, just two hands once again reaching for one of his own and holding it gently, securely between them. A reminder that despite every fear screaming at him, this isn’t the end, he isn’t alone.
“Where do I go from here?”
Forward.
It’s not a perfect dream, but it’s one Haru wakes up with still lingering somewhere in his head. It’s not an immediate shift, but the dream settles something in him, helps him focus. It’s a visit that helps him to eventually accept that his control, his freedom, lies in the promise that time keeps moving and is taking him with it. It’s a small step in learning he doesn’t have to cling to goals that no longer ignite him how they once did. It’s permission to be kinder to himself, to care for himself like she once did, like his friends still do. It’s a reminder that despite his fear of looking into a mirror and falling into nothingness, people see him — there have always been people who cared beyond his swimming, who saw Haru and knew any greatness of his lied beyond whatever skills he could show off to the world. His “ordinary” has been in-the-making all along, and now Haru gets to meet the future with whatever’s in his heart and treasured bonds by his side.
Maybe the only thing he remembers of the dream is getting to see her again, the wisps of warmth in that memory, but that’s what matters most, honestly. He remembers love, he remembers being loved, and he moves forward.

Unraveling the Legacy of Mars's Ancient Collision
Mars has always fascinated us with its strange landscapes and the possibility of finding signs of ancient life. But recently, scientists have uncovered something astonishing about its past. About 2.3 million years ago, a huge asteroid crashed into Mars, causing a massive impact. This event left behind more than two billion craters scattered all over the Martian surface. These craters are like scars, showing us just how violent the collision was. In this article, we'll talk about what this ancient crash means for our understanding of Mars' history and whether it could have supported life.
The Cosmic Ballet
In the vastness of space, planets and moons often collide or interact, changing their fate. Mars, though smaller than Earth, has experienced such events. About 2.3 million years ago, a huge asteroid slammed into Mars after traveling through space. This collision caused massive destruction, releasing a tremendous amount of energy onto the planet's surface.
The Impact
When the asteroid crashed into Mars, it caused a lot of damage all over the planet. The place where it hit created a massive hole, hundreds of kilometers wide. The impact was so powerful that it turned the rocks and dirt into vapor and sent strong shockwaves through Mars' surface. After the crash, a melted rock shot up, making tall peaks and rough edges around the hole. The land nearby was left with scars and holes, and pieces of debris fell over a large area.
Tumblr media
Formation of Craters
After the chaos settled and Mars cooled down, what was left behind were countless craters. They varied in size, from tiny to huge, and each one showed how Mars had been hit by space rocks over millions of years. But the big crash 2.3 million years ago was different. It was way bigger than anything else that ever happened on Mars.
Two Billion Craters
After the asteroid hit Mars, it left behind a lot of craters. There are now more than two billion craters all over Mars, which shows just how many times it got hit. These craters are like time capsules because they keep the story of when things crashed into Mars and how the planet changed over time. By studying these craters, scientists can learn a lot about how Mars' land and weather changed over millions of years.
Geological Significance
The billions of craters on Mars are really important for understanding how the planet's surface has changed over time. Scientists look at where the craters are, how big they are, and what they look like to learn about Mars' history and what has happened to it. By studying how often new craters form, scientists can figure out how many space rocks hit Mars and how powerful those impacts are. Also, when newer craters cover up older ones, scientists can tell which ones came first and piece together a timeline of what happened on Mars.
Window into the Past
Mars' craters aren't just marks from things hitting the planet; they're like peepholes into its history. The big, really old ones can tell us about what Mars was like a long time ago, like if it had water and if it could support life. Certain things inside the craters, like hills in the middle or stepped edges, give us hints about what happened after something hit Mars, like how the ground bounced back or fell down. Scientists can look at these things to figure out how Mars changed over time, like what its climate was like and how its land formed.
Implications for Life
Studying the craters on Mars isn't just about rocks and dirt; it's also about finding signs of life beyond Earth. These craters could be like treasure chests, holding clues to organic materials that could give us hints about life on Mars. Even though asteroid impacts can cause a lot of damage, they can also create special places underground where water and heat mix together, making a cozy home for tiny life forms. Figuring out where these craters are and what they're like is super important for finding the best spots to search for life on Mars.
Future Exploration
The discovery of more than two billion craters on Mars shows why it's crucial to keep exploring and studying the planet. Robots like NASA's Perseverance rover and the upcoming Mars Sample Return mission are ready to find out new things hidden in Martian rocks and soil. By gathering and studying samples from different parts of Mars, scientists want to learn about its past water, weather, and if it could have supported life. Also, new technology helps us make detailed maps of Mars, helping scientists find interesting spots to study in better detail than ever before.
Conclusion
Around 2.3 million years ago, a really big asteroid crashed into Mars. This event left a lasting mark on the planet – over two billion craters are scattered all over its surface as a result. These craters are like silent reminders of the powerful collision that happened long ago. They tell us a lot about Mars' history, like what its climate and atmosphere were like in the past, and whether it could have supported life. As we keep exploring Mars, these craters will keep giving us new things to learn, helping us uncover more about this mysterious neighbor of ours in space.
FAQs
What is the scar of Mars? Valles Marineris is like a big crack in the surface of Mars. Scientists think it formed because Mars was cooling down, and at the same time, the ground was rising up in the western part of Mars called Tharsis. After that, things like wind and water made the crack wider.
What element was found in the Mars rock? Scientists have looked at some information and believe that the stuff that makes up most of the ground on Mars includes things like silicon, oxygen, iron, magnesium, aluminum, calcium, and potassium. These are the main parts of the rocks that form when lava cools down.
Can Mars have life again? On Mars, the surface gets a lot of harmful radiation from space, and the soil has chemicals that can harm tiny living things. Scientists agree that if there's any life on Mars, it's probably hiding underground where it's safer from these dangerous things on the surface. So, if we want to find life on Mars, we should look underground where it's more protected from the harsh conditions on the surface.
How was Mars killed? Mars had a problem because it was smaller than Earth. After about a billion years, its insides cooled down and became solid, which made its magnetic shield weak. Without this shield, Mars couldn't hold onto its atmosphere, so it slowly disappeared into space.
Is Mars hot or cold? Even though Mars might seem warm because of its reddish color, it's actually quite chilly! It's much farther from the Sun than Earth, about 50 million miles more distant. So, it doesn't get as much sunlight and warmth. Also, Mars isn't good at trapping whatever little heat it receives. So, overall, it stays pretty cold.

AAAHHHH! It's always a beautiful day 84 years when Ari pops into my ask bearing love and sparkles! Sorry it took me so long to reply, Im allergic to being nice to myself! 👍😁👍
Tumblr media
It'll come as no surprise, I'm sure, but the thing I'm most proud of is my ongoing fic How to Make a Villain. Not only is it the first "serious" (serious?) piece of writing I've ever shared with anyone, but I'm proud of my commitment to updating it for the last eight months straight, and when I read back on it, I'm floored that 1. This all came out of my head? And 2. my skills as a writer have improved beyond my wildest expectations.
[read it here if you'd like: wattpad | ao3]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second thing I'm most proud of is the creation and development of my 🦋 Aurélie, who, just like my fic, is the first original character I've ever shared with the world. The way she's outgrown my imagination to become someone who feels very real to me constantly blows my mind. And not only has she changed my life in ways I never expected, but she's made an impact on the lives of other people — which is straight up a dream come true. Even if nothing else ever comes from my ambitions to be an author, the fact that people know and love something that grew straight out of my heart is honestly one of the greatest things I've ever achieved in my life.
And thirdly, I'm proud of all the brilliantly talented, supportive, creative and funny friends I've made in this fandom, whose imaginations inspire and excite me every single day. I hope you all know how much I treasure you, and that even if this fandom were to die tomorrow (touch wood), I'll remember you all for the rest of my life.

OBX details that make me feral (8/?)
JJ's fear is used for comedy until . . . it isn't (aka how JJ's status as the comic relief is used to fully shift the tone of the show in 1x05)
1x02: After John B and JJ encounter the creepy dudes (one of them is named Ratter apparently, which is so fucking funny oh my god, but they’re just The Creepy Dudes to me), JJ is super shaken up about it as he relays what had happened to Kie and Pope.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His entire monologue about getting paint in his hair, waiting for death, and not taking mental polaroids is very, very exaggerated and obviously played as a comedic moment (which Rudy kills btw it cracks me up every time). While I do think that his anxiety here is genuine to an extent, especially with the detail that the guys remind him of people that his dad hangs out with, I do think that the scene itself is clearly trying to play up that fear because JJ is the main source of comic relief. But I also think that the writers’ decision to do this is brilliant because it makes JJ’s real fear even more striking when we finally see it for the first time.
1x05: When Luke picks up JJ from the police station, JJ’s body language says it all. He barely makes eye contact, keeps his head down, stands a few feet away from Luke at all times, and has his hands in his pockets the entire time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He barely says anything, and when he does, the words are brief, apologetic, and chosen very carefully. He follows his father’s every order, which is very different from the authority-hating JJ that we have come to know so far, and he is visibly hesitant to get in the car with him outside of the station.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s the first time that we see JJ without his usual confidence and bravado. In this scene, he seems like a small, quiet kid, when he’s usually this larger-than-life, quick-witted personality. In the scene that came just before this, JJ's usual cocky attitude and disdain for authority is showcased with how he plays up his casual body language as he's talking to Peterkin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then to have all of this usual JJ-ness so quickly stripped away in the very next scene makes for such an impactful reveal. Because we've never seen JJ so meek, the audience is completely disarmed in the same way that he is in the presence of Luke.
Contrasted with the more comedic fear from 1x02, we can clearly see that this fear from JJ in 1x05 is much deeper, so it makes the reveal of JJ’s home life even more heartbreaking and jarring. The fear from 1x02 saw JJ turn outwards, making an exaggerated show out of the situation, but the fear from 1x05 sees JJ turn inwards, and he feels like a shell of the character that we thought we knew. This makes us feel even more caught off guard when we finally see the full extent of JJ's home life and put the pieces together about his personality.
To add onto this, the writers also use JJ as a vessel for introducing the real danger of the treasure hunt to the Pogues (John B, specifically). Along with his fear of Luke, we also see him show that same kind of genuine fear after Peterkin shows him the photos from the creepy guys' autopsies.
Tumblr media
Before, JJ was freaked out about the "square groupers" in his more outward, comedic way, but now he is genuinely scared for John B's safety, which prompts him to try to get John B to give up on the treasure.
I just love how the writers have the comic relief character be the first one to realize the gravity of the situation that the Pogues have gotten themselves into because it makes the audience pay even more attention to it. At this point, we know JJ as the funny one, so of course we can't help but listen when he's suddenly showing a completely different side of his personality.
TL;DR, In the police station, we first see JJ the way that we know him: cocky and overly confident in front of authority figures. But once he sees the pictures, there's a noticeable shift in his attitude where he gets uncharacteristically serious. And then by the time Luke gets there, everything about the way that JJ carries himself and speaks has shifted within a few minutes of screen time. Before we even see the title card in 1x05, the tone of the show has been flipped on its head through the writers' use of JJ's fear, both about the treasure hunt and his own father.
God it’s such good storytelling, it really is. The Pates really did that huh

14. Music Time Machine! You get a single opportunity to use this machine: it will take you on the day, hour and spot of every concert of your liking. So? What date will you put into it?
Cunning Stunts, i know the setlist by heart, watched it so many times i wore it a bit actually. just everything abt this concert screams ripper needs to be in it
18. Which piece of your Met merch is your treasure?
does pick that kirk handed my on my concert counts? if its sth i had to buy then uhh. cant decide which box, but i have all deluxe boxsets so them. yeah.
38. Talk abt something Metallica related that you mentally link to something that happened in your life.
one time at the airport i was informed i cant bring in knife- just kidding
i guess basically james hetfield as a person himself. i link myself with this dude, but not in the good way really. i can see his bad traits immediately and i can see them in myself, maybe thats why so many of his lyrics feel so close to home, with all parental figures, christian trauma, being an outcast and not having the guts to talk to other outcasts, feeling dirty of sins you've been told about from your family, the way he tried to escape his thoughts.
you can tell i love st anger huh

7 and 12 for the writing questions <3
hello hello!
7. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?
oh boy, would i ever love to be able to say, ahhhh i write for the love of the craft and the joy of creating, feedback and support matters not! alas. comments and discussions about my writing are literally everything to my ~muse (ew). i love love love getting asks about headcanons i've posted here (sign-up sheet, i'm looking at you, i am returning to you soon), because so many times even if i don't answer the ask right away, it's triggered something for me—sometimes a continuation, sometimes a brand-new story, and sometimes just a little bit of not-fic rambling on here that still feeds that creative impulse. i am sadly at heart a vain creature who likes to hear when people like my stuff. comments are loved, treasured, and adored, and i frequently go back through my fics and re-read every single comment people were kind enough to leave. as far as support...yeah. i CAN write in a vacuum, but i prefer not to. i love talking about my concepts even if they're things i never plan on fleshing out into full fics, and i love bouncing my ideas around with the people i force to beta-read for me, because their feedback makes everything i do so much better.
12. What’s your perfect environment to create/write?
hmm this is an interesting one, and it made me actually go back and think about what i was doing the last time i successfully sat down and wrote more than like...one singular paragraph that i later deleted, lol.
i need:
-music. NOT podcasts, NOT tv, NOT sports. i get too distracted if it's anything besides just songs. sometimes it helps me to have it be a specific ~mood or ~theme, but usually i can just hit shuffle and go. OR i'll go hunt down one of @beggingwolf's playlists (she has many many good ones!) and bogart that to get me started :)
-mid-afternoon to mid-evening. i never am motivated enough in the mornings to get going early and if it gets too late i want to go lie down in bed and read. i CAN and have written on my phone in bed before, but those are rare situations where an idea absolutely lit me on fire and i needed to get it out right then and there. a few of my post-game ficlets have been written that way, and some scenes from my longer stuff, but for the most part no. i also do the best when i'm on my laptop, because i can type faster there. if i'm really having writer's block i'll bust out the old notebook and try to brainstorm by hand, too!
-the ability to contort my legs and torso into strange and ultimately horrendously uncomfortable positions—this usually means a wide chair with pieces of furniture around i can use to prop my feet on. i am very tall (6'1") and sitting in a chair at a desk tends to make my knees hurt because nothing is quite sized for me :)
-i need to be able to FOCUS. what that means for me is shutting down discord and muting my texts, at least at first, and getting solidly in the groove. if i can write for about 20 minutes sans distractions and really dig into it, i can chat with people both in person and online and be able to keep going no problem, but i have to get the flow going first.
thank you!!!!
fic asks here :)

Kagura Bachi: From Manga to Sensation — Why Everyone’s Talking About This New Anime
Tumblr media
The anime world has been abuzz with one name lately: Kagura Bachi. This manga-turned-anime has taken the internet by storm, leaving fans breathless with its action sequences, intriguing story, and stunning visuals. But what exactly is behind this sudden surge in popularity? Let’s dive into the hype and see what makes Kagura Bachi tick.
From Humble Beginnings to Anime Superstardom
Kagura Bachi started as a manga written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono. It quickly gained a dedicated following for its unique blend of dark fantasy, intense action, and complex characters. The story follows Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of a renowned blacksmith, who seeks revenge against a gang of sorcerers who murdered his father. But this is no ordinary revenge tale. The world of Kagura Bachi is rich with lore, magic systems, and hidden societies, making it a treasure trove for fans of intricate narratives.
The Animation that Bleeds Cool
One of the key reasons for Kagura Bachi’s success is its phenomenal animation. Studio MAPPA, known for hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, brought Hokazono’s vision to life with stunning visuals. The fight scenes are a masterclass in choreography, fluidity, and sheer awesomeness. Every impact, every sword clash, every burst of magic crackles with energy. And it’s not just about action; the animation masterfully captures the emotional depth of the characters, their pain, rage, and determination.
A Soundtrack to Fuel Your Soul
The music in Kagura Bachi is another element that elevates the experience. The soundtrack seamlessly blends traditional Japanese instruments with modern electronic beats, creating a soundscape that’s both epic and intimate. The opening theme, “SCAR,” is an instant earworm, while the emotional piano pieces during quieter moments tug at your heartstrings.
A Recipe for Success: More than Just Hype
While the animation and action are undeniable draws, Kagura Bachi isn’t just a pretty face. The story itself is compelling, with well-developed characters, intriguing mysteries, and a healthy dose of social commentary. It tackles themes of revenge, grief, and the corrupting influence of power, making it more than just a mindless action flick.
Is Kagura Bachi the New Big Thing? Hype vs. Reality
With all this praise, it’s natural to wonder: is Kagura Bachi really the new anime king? Well, it’s still early to say. The show has its fair share of strengths, but it’s not without potential weaknesses. Some viewers might find the pacing a bit slow in certain parts, and the heavy exposition dumps in the beginning can be a tad overwhelming.
However, the potential for greatness is undeniable. Kagura Bachi has all the ingredients for a long and successful run: a passionate fanbase, a talented production team, and a story with the depth and complexity to keep viewers engaged.Whether it becomes the “next big thing” depends on how it evolves and how well it addresses the pacing and exposition concerns.
Ultimately, the best way to know if Kagura Bachi is for you is to experience it yourself. Dive into the world of Chihiro Rokuhira, witness the breathtaking animation, and let the story unfold. You might just find yourself joining the legions of fans raving about this anime sensation.
Remember, this is just the beginning of the Kagura Bachi story. With its strong foundation and passionate fanbase, this anime has the potential to leave a lasting mark on the industry. So, keep your eyes peeled, anime fans, because this is one show you won’t want to miss.

#SATISFACTION -
Finding something you adore, becoming a real whiz at it, and seeing how it touches others in a good way—it's like discovering a treasure trove of feelings! Imagine when chefs whip up a dish they love or artists craft a masterpiece; it’s like they've hit the jackpot of joy.
As a promoter, it's like being the architect of an empty room's transformation. You conjure up this mental picture of decorations, music, and happy vibes, then bring together your talented crew to make it happen. The flyer you create? It's like a sneak peek for everyone to know what the night's gonna be like.
Picture this: a room full of folks, dancing away, smiles on their faces. That feeling of contentment and accomplishment? It’s like finding the missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle—it’s hard to explain, but it’s there.
Paying everyone, from the cashier to the security and especially the DJ, may be tiring, but it’s also immensely satisfying. Why? Because everyone can see the impact they've had on each person in the crowd.
It’s like making a beautiful, accidental masterpiece where every tiny detail was your doing. Chefs feel it when you take that first delicious bite of their creation, or when a comedian hears that genuine laughter at a new joke.
When Busta Rhymes talked about it, it hit home so deeply that tears flowed. All those years of cracking jokes, offering sincere advice, and promoting things I genuinely believe in—those built you up. People know me, and more importantly, I know myself .. Integrity, professionalism, humor, business-minded and always, always spreading positive vibes and life lessons. My actions have spoken for me for so long that I dont need words and its a blessing. It's a blessing because I wasnt doing it for a reason.. I just love to make a positive impact on whatever project I am working on.
Yes, the feeling that one gets when he's good at something and it affects someone postively,
is the best feeling in the world. It's like, a sense of validation or affirmation. It's like a big warm hug of approval that tells you your hard work paid off and your efforts were appreciated.
It can make you feel acknowledged, respected, and encouraged to keep doing what you love.

Unit 06: Nature Interpretation through History
Blog prompt: unpack the quote -
There is no peculiar merit in ancient things, but there is merit in integrity, and integrity entails the keeping together of the parts of any whole, and if these parts are scattered throughout time, then the maintenance of integrity entails a knowledge, a memory, of ancient things. …. To think, feel or act as though the past is done with, is equivalent to believing that a railway station through which our train has just passed, only existed for as long as our train was in it.
(Edward Hyams, Chapter 7, The Gifts of Interpretation)
Tumblr media
Hi guys, this week's blog prompt stumped me a little on how I wanted to go about writing it. I wrote it out a couple times, and every time I re-read the quote, my brain went in a different direction. So essentially, this final submission is the meaning that I resonated most with.
This quote can be broken down into various lenses. From my perception, one could either go in the literal direction of integrity of historical antiquities or integrity throughout history through actions and how those lessons learned from history are implemented today, either on an individual or societal scale.

From the first perspective (integrity of historical antiquities):Edward Hyams is trying to get us to rethink the value we place on items based on the fact that they're ancient. The integrity of history is important. True merit lies in integrity. How much value should we place on those history books? Without them, how would we even be able to place value on artifacts? Historic texts provide us with insight and storylines into the past. From this additional view, we can see the aspect of integrity Hyams is talking about; without historic text, there is no historic integrity to the antiquity of the artifact.
Hyams begins by saying, "There is no peculiar merit in ancient things", In saying this, he means that just because something is ancient does not mean it necessarily holds intrinsic value. The age of something does not determine its merit. Merit is defined by quality, impact, contextual value, temporal factors, innovation, authenticity, longevity, relevance, utility, cultural significance, ethical value and subject value.
This part of the quote, "if these parts are scattered throughout time, then the maintenance of integrity entails a knowledge, a memory, of ancient things... to think, feel or act as though the past is done with," makes me think of the discoveries of fossils and antiquities that are not found by archeologists in one piece. It makes me think about the fact that the artifact tends to hold more value when it is not found whole and there are still pieces missing. The pieces not yet found hold more value than what was already found. It is like the value we place on lost/undiscovered treasure that has been written about within history but never physically found again.

From the second perception (integrity throughout history through actions): I feel like Hyams could also be talking about how important it is to use history as knowledge for the present. This is the social and personal aspect of the quote. What role does historic text play in the coherence and stability of the way we live our lives today because of the past? Even though history naturally repeats itself, from a personal aspect, would you rather keep repeating something that you know better for now? Why would you put yourself through it again? This is why, in general, it is important to learn and preserve history.
There can be intrinsic merit found in cultural traditions passed on generationally through out history, “merit in integrity, and integrity entails the keeping together of the parts of any whole, and if these parts are scattered throughout time, then the maintenance of integrity entails a knowledge, a memory, of ancient things.” Cultural traditions can become lost or scattered, then rediscovered and practised again, such as Indigenous traditions being lost due to European settlers.
Integrity in the modern world in relation to this quote brings up aspects of the fast pace of our current society, and the way in which information is placed in front of us shows that we must use knowledge of people in the past to help us navigate our current society. This reflects the line, “To think, feel or act as though the past is done with, is equivalent to believing that a railway station through which our train has just passed, only existed for as long as our train was in it", in Hyams quote. An example of this is what takes place in places like Palestine and occupied parts by Israel. Modern technology sends out information so fast and because of this, it is so easy for information to be misconstrued, bias to the point of being damaging. There is a lot that we can take from situations in history to situations like this, and our actions show our integrity and merit.
Edward Hyam’s quote demonstrates that the merit of integrity stands at the foundation of the intrinsic value of items and actions (knowledge) in and throughout history. If we use layers of historical wisdom, we can utilize the fact that the past and our past are integral parts of our present and future. What better way to navigate our lives and establish what holds value than by unpacking the significance of integrity?
