Wish Granted AU: The 7 Teens 👥👥👥🌟

This one was both the most fun and hardest one to do. At first I hated the idea of 7 friends in general cause its canon that the directors added them later in the story and they wanted to just have a free reference without actually doing something. But the more I thought about it, the more I could see that they were accidentally given a good opportunity to create a new batch of loveable characters. So many creative ideas with it! Even the original concept shows that they had more thought and personality to them!

And they actually did have some personality in the deleted scenes, both during the distraction plan and the dungeon scenes, they felt more like characters than the final film. They had Seven Dwarves without actually acting like the Seven Dwarves, like how....???

Sorry to say, they did nothing in the movie. (yeah, I watched Wish, it was lame. Moving on.) One thing I want to achieve here is they'll be a mix between the Dwarves and the Mane 6. I swear this makes sense. 😅 Also one big difference here is that instead of being friends with them from the start, Asha meets each teen one by one when she and Star enter Rosas. A few of them even know Flazino, but not on a super personal level, just that he's seemingly loyal to Magnifico and Amaya. The teens know each other pretty well since they all work around the same place, but having them work together to start a revolution and defeat an evil will cement them as friends with each other and Asha and Star.

So let's give a quick rundown on each one. The more the story evolves, this page will be updated for additional backgrounds or changes to them.

Dhalia: Combination of Twilight/Doc. She's still a baker in this in version, and her wish is to become the greatest baker in the kingdom. (I actually didn't know this was something canon to the movie until later, it just something I came up with by coincidence!) She's incredibly loyal to the king and queen (with a bit of a crush on Magnifico) and willing to do anything for the kingdom. And...let's just say her role in the story will be bigger than some other rewrites or even the film itself.

Simon: Combination of Big Macintosh/Sleepy. While he still retains his sleepiness, its a result of losing his wish. He was actually strong, outgoing and jovial before then. Now he just doesn't have any ambition to do anything aside from his daily tasks. His wish was to become a royal knight and protect the kingdom.

Gabo: Combination of Rainbow Dash/Grumpy. He's incredibly loyal, but he hides it behind his rudeness. He's been duped so many times that he doesn't trust people anymore, especially when finding out he's right about the king being no good. His wish he's keeping secret, but it'll be revealed somewhere in the story.

Bazeema: Combination of Fluttershy/Bashful. Still keeping her kindness and ability to sneak up on people from the movie, Bazeema adores nature and especially animals. She gets along with just about all the animals in the forest, the royal horses and even the birds. She LOVES when Star turns into animals, since he's the entire animal kingdom rolled into one! The only animal she's never succeeded with was Sabor. He's just too much like his owners to get along with. 😂 Her wish is to provide a safe haven where all the animals would be safe and recover together if hurt.

Dario: Combination of Pinkie Pie/Dopey. Now I know you're thinking why not have the Pinkie inspiration for Hal? Well, I wanted her to be a bit more of a grounded type of funny instead of zany. Since Dario is based on Dopey, he provides a lot of awkward yet endearing humor. Sometimes he tries too hard, but he means well. He always manages to make Star laugh though! His wish is to bring laughter to Rosas, as he's one of the few who notices not everyone is exactly happy there.

Safi: Combination of Rarity/Sneezy. Despite Safi's allergies, he loves animals and is a bit shy around Bazeema whenever he helps tend to the garden or animals around Rosas. He might have like a hundred allergies, but he's always generous when it comes to helping his kingdom. Even though the King and Queen don't appreciate it. 😅(I'm also playing with an idea of Safi x Bazeema. Not entirely sure. I just kinda....got a small vibe of that from watching the movie. Maybe it was just me.) His wish is to get rid of his allergies so he can carry on a conversation without sneezing. Yeah, that's it! 😂😂

Hal: Combination of Applejack/Happy. Bit of a rougher gal in this one. She, a hard worker, but has a great sense of humor. She even helps be a test audience for Dario when it comes to his jokes, which eventually leads them to become a duo. Hal feels pretty content, so she hasn't really thought about a wish to give.

At one point later in the story when all of them do come together, I got an idea for their battle cry or team signal being "Heigh, Ho!". I still can't believe they didn't even use that in the movie.

Oh and there is still a traitor in this story, but...its not who you think it is. That's all I can say without spoilers. So you'll have to figure it out as it goes along.

And there you go, that's gonna be it for the characters now! The only one that may get one is Flazino, but it would be later down the line if I did to avoid spoilers. So now, the first test chapter is coming next! It'll include the "Welcome to Rosas" song, but with a twist! And my bestie @signed-sapphire is gonna help me with it, so stay tuned! 😉

Since there're complaints that using a Seven Dwarfs analog for Asha’s friend group reduced them to props because there isn't enough screen time to develop all of them, would three friends based on the Three Good Fairies have worked better?

Dahlia is based on Doc, but she works as a Flora analog too as a matronly figure in red who has the ideas and tries to keep order. She just needs a ditzy sweetheart in green and an aggressive pessimist in blue (fulfilling Gabo’s role, I guess) to mediate. As for their names, the themes are right there: One named after a plant (also applies to Dahlia), one named after an animal, and the last named after something in the sky.

And before anyone complains about too many girls, all three don't have to be girls. Make the Fauna and the Merryweather male, then you have an equal gender balance with Asha and Dahlia.

Just let women be evil 😈

Been seeing some discussion around how the Netflix Avatar made some changes to Azula and tried to paint her in a less evil light and more as some poor child that got manipulated by her dad to be the monster she would eventually become.

And that's... Honestly a little lame imo.

Azula being a heartless monster was one of the many cool things about her, but now it feels like we're giving credit to her dad instead.

Like, she was the golden child, but she wasn't daddy's little submissive pet. A lot of what she did, she did it not because "she wanted to please daddy" but because she's just a little sh*t. Heck, she even manipulates her own father at one point, making him think Zuko killed the Avatar so she wouldn't get any blame when it was revealed he was still alive.

Ozai was the final boss, but Azula is basically the face of the show when it comes to villains. She was the bane of everyone's existence.

Having nuance and layers is nice, but sometimes I just want a lady who just loves being evil for the pettiest of reasons like wanting power, being salty for not getting what she wanted, or just because it's in her sadistic nature.

And, yeah, we have cases like Demona who you could argue is a victim of the circumstances she's in, or, again, Azula, who was practically raised to be evil, but you can't deny they clearly enjoy being bad and doing bad things to others.

Let women just be evil, and let them own their evilness.

Summary: Wei Wuxian has been alive for less than an hour, he has no plans for his future. But if there is one thing he knows, it’s that he wants to see Lan Zhan again. Wei Wuxian remembers all that happened at the end of his first life. He remembers that Lan Zhan stayed on his side until the very end, how he'd tried to save him before Jiang Cheng attempted to kill them both. When he fell, the last thing he saw was Lan Zhan's eyes, the last thing he heard was his cries. When he finds himself unexpectedly returned to life, he knows exactly who he can trust and where he needs to go. A Chen Qing Ling retelling. Kay's comments: The thing with CQL is that I love it dearly, but also, there are so many plotholes due to how it was adapted from the source material and I actually love those plotholes too, because that's where fanfic authors can make themselves comfortable and write so many creative stories. This story explores how CQL Wangxian's relationship is actually really great and it makes no sense for freshly-resurrected Wei Wuxian to run away from Lan Wangji when he appears in Mo village and I love this so much. The cherry on top is the fact that miixz and Admiranda are both really great writers that always draw me in and I'm excited to see how this story might continue! Excerpt: In the distance, Wei Wuxian hears the Lan juniors scramble to their feet, overhearing something about how they’ll be acting in the west courtyard tonight. It’s good to know where he can find them, but he doesn’t mind the loss of the rest of their conversation. Whatever they’ve come here for is definitely something to look into, but he’s in no hurry to learn about it. If their presence is somehow related to his return, he doubts any of them know it. No one would knowingly send a group of young cultivators anywhere near the scourge of the cultivation world. But for once, this works in his favor. For one thing, young cultivators are bound to be informed on the state of the world, and most importantly, these particular boys should know about the one he wants to meet. Just a little bit longer, he thinks, looking at the cuts in his wrist. I’ll see this through, then I’ll find my way back to you, Lan Zhan.

It occurs to me that it might have been up to the seven teens to stop an evil Amaya (or, at least, stall her a la Scuttle and Vanessa) while Asha matched spells with Magnifico in a different Wish's climax. Why? They're a reference to the seven dwarfs, who were instrumental in the original Evil Queen's demise. This would be especially redeeming for Gabo had he led the charge like Grumpy.

My honest opinion/review on Wish 2023

It was nine tenths baked. Ie. It could’ve done with being about 10-20 minutes longer than it actually was. Especially because on Disneyplus there’s always an extra 2-5 minutes at the end of the shows and films for the international dubbing credits. And while that’s a good thing. It does make the actual credits seem a little deceptively long and take up film time they could’ve used to flesh things out a little more. Now for some finer points.

Magnifico was the villain. There’s no getting around that. He was a malignant hoarder who cared more about HAVING the wishes as a hold over the subjects to keep them placid and complacent than what was INSIDE the wishes whereas Asha actually cared about the contents of the wishes themselves as At All Costs proved.

I agree with the opinion that Amaya should’ve been evil and Starboy should’ve been Asha’s love interest. But I think Magnifico should’ve been the unwitting spouse. Bring back the evil queens who get their comeuppances I say. It was so nice to finally get an unrepentant legitimately evil villain in Disney again. But like with Black Widow I think they took the easy way out by making the villain a man.

Knowing What I Know Now felt very much like it was a deleted song from the descendants franchise. And that’s why it’s my favourite song in the movie.

I feel like the Teens could’ve been utilised better. Or at least given last names so I can tag them all. Except for Simon who I just learned has the last name O’Donaghue.

That’s about it really. Like I said. I felt like it was nine tenths baked. Still a really good film. But with like an air pocket for improvement. Apart from that. I enjoyed it immensely.

Seven (+) Sentence Sunday

Have to make up for the lack of football games today with another snippet from NFL Buck. And to go along with the today's drop of BTS photos with Buck and Christ, here is a scene with them. (All things NFL Buck)

"Do you want to go back to Houston? Live there?" Buck asks, his voice slightly downcast. It takes Christopher a back. Did he really upset his dad and Buck that much with his outburst? Are they going to break up? Are Christopher and his dad going to be sent away? Panic makes his chest go tight and his breaths come a little faster. Buck instantly catches on and drops to the floor kneeling in front of Chris. Strong, warm hands press into Christopher's shoulders and Buck makes him meet wide blue eyes, filled with concern and a hint of fear. "Hey, hey, hey. Take a deep breath bud." Buck tells him, but he can't. He can't. All the air is being clutched in the tight fist of his earlier words. You chose Buck over me. I'm failing because of you. Buck chose football over us. Every horrible inaccurate accusation Chris threw at his father is lashing back at him, taking away his life. Buck doesn't waver. The grip on Chris's shoulders tightens, "Christopher you need to take deep breath. Just like this." He tells the kid firmly and his broad chest expands with a deep inhale through his nose. Buck holds it for a short three seconds, then slowly releases the breath, making Chris's hair flutter. "Just like that buddy okay?" Christopher gives a weak nod in return. "Alright. Suck all the air you can in through your nose." Buck instructs and Chris tries his best. He contracts the muscles in his aching chest, pulling in as much air as he can into his lungs through nasal cavity. "Thats good kid. Now, hold it for three seconds. Then push it all out of your mouth." Holding the air hurts a little and it seems to just add to pressure that had mounted there in his panic, but its just three seconds. He's hurt a lot worse for much more time. Buck helps with counting to three and when Christopher hears the final second, he blows out all the air in his lungs along with a little of the panic. The gripping ache lessens slightly. The sting of tears begin.

I promise Buck and Eddie are not breaking up, and the Diaz boys are not going back to Texas. Teen anxiety gets the best of us, and Buck is just trying to figure out what Christopher needs/wants. Hope you enjoyed!

Something about the way Siobhan and Emily play teenage girls is just so incredible and accurate to life I don’t know how they do it. Adaine’s rage at injustice, her impulsive violence, her constant anxiety. Fig’s insecurity, the way she barely knows herself because she’s always hiding behind a mask, her reckless love and trust. Ylfa’s conviction that she’s turning into a monster, the pain of growing up and realizing you can’t be the girl that everyone wants you to be, the girl you expected to be. Rosamund believing she’s figured it all out at 18 and there’s no use hoping for anything better, trying to establish herself as an active force in her life when she’s always been told to just wait for men to take care of things. I’m closer to my teenage years than they are but they capture it better than I ever could
