Let's talk about misdirection.
(Requested by @voiceless9000. Hope this is helpful!)
Misdirection in storytelling, through foreshadowing and other techniques, is a powerful tool that can enhance suspense, surprise, and engagement in your narrative and make plot twists more unexpected.
Remember to maintain coherence and avoid contrivances that may undermine the integrity of your storytelling.
Here are some techniques you can use to effectively misdirect readers:
Red Herrings: Introduce elements or clues that suggest a certain outcome or plot direction, only to later reveal that they were misleading. These false leads can divert readers' attention away from the true resolution.
Selective Detailing: Highlight certain details or events in a way that implies their significance, while downplaying or omitting others that might be more relevant to the actual outcome. By controlling what information readers focus on, you can steer their expectations.
Character Misdirection: Use characterisation to mislead readers about characters' true intentions, motivations, or identities. Create multi-dimensional characters who may behave ambiguously or inconsistently, leaving readers unsure of their true allegiances, motivations, or goals.
Foreshadowing: Employ foreshadowing to hint at future events or outcomes, but do so in a way that misleads interpretation. Provide clues that could be interpreted in multiple ways or that lead readers to expect one outcome while delivering another. (See my previous post about foreshadowing for more!)
Misleading Narration: Utilise an unreliable narrator or perspective to present events in a biased or distorted manner. Readers may trust the narrator's account implicitly, only to discover later that their perceptions were flawed or intentionally deceptive.
Subverting Tropes: Set up situations or scenarios that seem to follow familiar narrative tropes or conventions, only to subvert them in unexpected ways. This can keep readers guessing and prevent them from accurately predicting the story's trajectory.
Parallel Storylines: Introduce secondary storylines or subplots that appear unrelated to the main narrative but eventually intersect or influence the primary plot in unexpected ways. This can distract readers from anticipating the main storyline's developments.
Setting: Manipulate the setting or environment to create false impressions about the direction of the plot. For example, presenting a seemingly idyllic setting that harbors dark secrets or dangers.
Timing and Pacing: Control the pacing of your story to strategically reveal information or developments at opportune moments, leading readers to draw premature conclusions or overlook important details. (See my post on pacing for more tips!)
Twists and Reversals: Incorporate sudden plot twists or reversals that upend readers' expectations and challenge their assumptions about the story's direction. Ensure that these twists are logically consistent but sufficiently surprising to catch readers off guard.
Happy writing!

What is an Unreliable Narrator? And How to Write One.
An unreliable narrator is a storytelling technique where the narrator's credibility or truthfulness is questionable. The narrator either intentionally or unintentionally provides a distorted or biased account of the events, characters, or situations in the story. This narrative approach can add complexity, suspense, and intrigue to your writing. Here's how you can create an unreliable narrator:
1. Establish a motive: Determine why the narrator is unreliable. It could be due to personal bias, mental instability, deception, or a hidden agenda. Develop their backstory, motivations, and beliefs to understand why they might present a skewed version of events.
2. Use subjective language: Incorporate language and descriptions that reflect the narrator's personal viewpoint and biases. Their opinions, emotions, and interpretations should color their narration, influencing how readers perceive the story.
3. Include contradictions and inconsistencies: Allow the narrator to make contradictory statements or present conflicting information. This creates doubt and keeps the readers engaged as they try to unravel the truth.
4. Reveal information selectively: The unreliable narrator might withhold or reveal information strategically, manipulating the readers' understanding of the story. This can create suspense and surprise as readers discover hidden truths.
5. Showcase unreliable perceptions: Explore how the narrator's perceptions and interpretations of events differ from reality. They may misinterpret actions, misremember details, or even hallucinate. These discrepancies add depth to the character and raise doubts about their reliability.
6. Use other characters as contrasting sources: Introduce other characters who present alternative perspectives or contradict the narrator's version of events. This contrast allows readers to question the reliability of the narrator and form their own interpretations.
7. Employ narrative techniques: Experiment with techniques like foreshadowing, symbolism, or unreliable memory to emphasize the narrator's unreliability. These devices can help blur the line between truth and fiction, leaving readers intrigued and uncertain.
8. Provide hints and clues: Drop subtle hints or clues throughout the story that suggest the narrator's unreliability. This allows readers to piece together the truth gradually and encourages them to engage actively with the narrative.

INCLUDES: kazutora hanemiya, ken ryuguji, manjiro sano, hajime kokonoi, hanma shuji, keisuke baji, izana kurokawa
CONTENT WARNING: some misogyny
NOTE: I made these into headcanons, hope you don't mind 🤍 your gang is called 'jotei rengou' (literal translation: empress union) idk it sounded cool
Tumblr media
— KAZUTORA.
When Kazutora finds out about your gang, he's surprised, to say the least - and not in a good way. To him, women don't belong in the delinquent world and he'll act hostile towards your gang in response, immediately seeing you as an obstacle to overcome, something to get rid of before it can cause too much trouble.
He has some deeply ingrained beliefs about strength and power so he finds it hard to believe that a women-only gang could rival any of the male-dominated gangs of Tokyo anyway.
However, when a fight breaks out between your gangs, Kazutora finds himself intrigued and slightly impressed by your strength. He watches you, analyses your technique, and he eventually recognizes that you are worthy of your title and are obviously not here by mistake.
He ends up developing a strange but genuine sense of respect and admiration for you — though you'll never catch him admitting that out loud.
"So...you're the girl who claims to be leading one of Japan's biggest gangs?" he looks you up and down. "Don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're a woman."
"Ha. I wouldn't expect you to. I've heard a lot about you, Hanemiya. You've got quite the reputation, you know?" you smirked. "But let's see if you can back up that talk with action."
Tumblr media
— DRAKEN.
Draken's calm nature leads him to be open-minded and respectful towards you and your gang — doesn't matter if your first encounter is friendly or a little less amicable. He's surprised to see that a gang like yours exist, that's for sure, but he admires your strength and leadership qualities more than he worries about the 'women only' aspect of it.
He probably wouldn't want to get involved with you, though. He's totally against hitting women no matter what, so, with Mikey's approval, he'll try to find a common ground with you and offer compromises that could benefit both sides in order to avoid confrontation.
He might also harbour a tiny crush on you or one of your gang members.... But that's none of anyone's business.
Tumblr media
— MIKEY.
Mikey takes you and your gang very seriously right from the start, and he quickly learns that: 1) you're not to be messed with, and 2) underestimating and belittling you would be a huge mistake.
However, just like Draken, fighting and hurting women in any way is a no-no. Not because he doesn't think you're capable of fighting back, far from it, but because keeping women safe has always been one of Toman's top priorities. He'll only fight you if he absolutely has to, that means only if your gang is pure evil or an actual threat to Toman.
On the contrary, if your gangs grow closer over the years, he'll gladly accept a friendly fight with you or your girls.
Although he doesn't really show it, Mikey is very admirative of you — a feeling that only intensifies when he finds out that the Jotei Rengou actually shares most of Toman's beliefs and is really similar to it in multiple aspects. He's also surprised by your strength and strategic thinking, which earns his silent admiration.
It kind of makes him want to welcome women into his own gang.
Tumblr media
— KOKONOI.
Koko will treat your gang like any other gang. The fact that you're all women matters very little to him. You know what you got yourself into when you entered the world of street gangs and delinquency, therefore you must know what you're doing and you probably know how to fight back.
Koko immediately sees the power and influence you hold over your gang as you lead and command them, and he soon starts to see you as a valuable ally or potential rival, depending on how your gangs' first interaction unfolds.
He'd be lying if he said he wasn't intrigued by your backstory and your rise to power, because he knows you must've gone through hell and back before people actually started taking you seriously and accepted you as one of Japan's most notorious gangs.
"I don't remember inviting outsiders to my territory."
"I couldn't resist the chance to meet you! You're a hard one to find, you know?" he said, opening his arms and sticking his tongue out. "I've dreamed of this moment, Jotei Rengou."
Tumblr media
— HANMA.
The first time Valhalla and Jotei Rengou come face to face, Hanma laughs. He laughs because it's evident to him that you don't belong at the head of a gang, and he makes sure you know how unserious he thinks your 'pathetic little gang' is.
He tries to provoke you by insulting you and your methods, clearly wanting to test your patience. However, he quickly realizes that you're not easily swayed by his manipulation tactics, having no trouble firing back at him.
Hanma finds you intriguing, and although he won't openly admit it, he's secretly impressed by your ability to stay calm and command respect and loyalty from your gang members — who all look extremely hot and badass, he must admit.
Hanma quickly starts thinking about how he could use your influence and power to his own advantage. He sees you as a potential ally or a stepping stone to achieve his goals.
Tumblr media
— BAJI.
Baji is absolutely thrilled by the idea of facing such powerful women as opponents.
Though he can't do much without Mikey's approval, he sees this encounter as an opportunity for a great adrenaline-pumping battle. A rival gang is a rival gang, your gender doesn't hold him back in the slightest.
He's heard the rumors and whispers about the Jotei Rengou so he knows how serious you are about this — and although he'll approach you with a his usual cocky attitude, the last thing he'll do is underestimate you. The things he knows only fuels his determination further, and he looks forward to testing his skills against such interesting opponents.
"Well, well, well...what do we have here?" Baji smirks. "The Jotei Rengou and their infamous leader in person. Bold move showing up here, ladies."
"Hey, let's cut the small talk and make this interesting, shall we?" you smirk back, getting off your bike. "I'll show you what my gang's made of, and you boys can try to keep up."
Tumblr media
— IZANA.
Izana is intrigued, but he doesn't take your gang seriously. He's heard of you and the damage you've done around Tokyo, but he's convinced that someone else is behind your crimes. He firmly believes that a woman's strength couldn't possibly match up to a man's, let alone his own.
But when you effortlessly take down some of Tenjiku's strongest members, Izana's initial arrogance towards you immediately starts to fade. He finds himself getting more and more frustrated as your fighting style proves to be just as efficient as his own.
Despite being impressed, Izana refuses to let his feelings show. Instead, he starts analyzing your moves, determined to find a weakness to exploit and make you regret ever crossing his path.

What does he have that I don’t? (Part three)
Tumblr media
<<Previous | Masterlist | Next>> Synopsis: You step away from sparring, needing a moment to tend to yourself after fantasizing about your captain. Later on, your heart battles with the choices that present themselves.
WC: 4.1k
Content/Warnings: 18+, MDNI, Soft Price, fluff, Cheating, Pining, Masturbation, Oral (M!Receiving), Cum play (I think), Johnny is a whore
Notes: Part four is already in the works!! Been extremely busy the past week but I’m free now! Sorry!
Tumblr media
Acknowledging your want to avoid interactions with Simon or Johnny, your captain chose to engage in a sparring session with you. Rather than responding to your form with frustration or criticism, he adopted a gentle and supportive approach. Using his hands, he skillfully adjusted the positioning of your arms, accompanied by encouraging words like, "There, Sergeant. It's easier when you move it this way."
Yet, your focus on Price's teachings was short-lived, disrupted by the growls emanating from Simon as he engaged in a sparring match across from both of you. The sounds of his physical exertion filled the air, creating a contrasting backdrop to the magnetic tension with him. Despite the distracting noise, the intertwined dynamics of the sparring session and the compelling gaze heightened the sensory experience, making the moment charged with both anticipation and the raw energy of the ongoing duel.
A palpable intensity hung in the air as Simon's burning gaze fixated on you. It felt like an unspoken invitation, a magnetic force compelling you to meet his eyes. The unrelenting pull was palpable, beckoning you to turn and lock gazes with him. In that charged moment, the dialogue between your eyes and Simon's created a captivating dance of emotion, the unspoken language of feeling weaving its intricate threads in the shared space between you.
"eyes off the lass, we've got to focus Lieutenant, otherwise yer gonnae lose!" Soap teased.
Simon vigorously shook the lingering thoughts of you from his mind, a steely resolve taking root in his eyes. Emitting a determined grunt, he plunged into the sparring session with Johnny, channeling a heightened determination. Every motion unfolded with exacting precision, as though his dedication had materialized into a palpable force pushing him onward. The resonance of their sparring mirrored the fervor of Simon's commitment, underscoring the undeniable intensity and unwavering determination propelling him through each exchange.
In the heat of their sparring session, Simon and Johnny intensified their exchange, throwing fists back and forth with a rhythmic precision. The air crackled with noise as each punch found its mark, and retaliatory strikes followed in quick succession. The tempo shifted abruptly as they transitioned into a sequence of grappling, both of them attempting judo takedowns with calculated determination. Bodies twisted and turned, each striving for the upper hand in a contest of strength and technique. The training room echoed with the sounds of their efforts, the clashing of limbs and the determined grunts blending into a symphony of martial prowess. The takedown attempts added a strategic layer to their dynamic exchange, showcasing not only their striking abilities but also their proficiency in the art of sparring.
“You’ve got to focus too, love.”
Your gaze shifted to your arms, both wrists in your captain’s skilled hands.
The fragments of the dream began to weave themselves into your conscience. It wasn't that you disliked the events within it; rather, an uneasy feeling persisted, making it increasingly challenging to be around him. The dream's influence seemed to seep into reality, leaving you a heated mess. But his hands were around you. His hands were around you.
Tumblr media
His tongue roamed your aching clit as his thick, scarred fingers pumped in and out of your sopping wet core.
“You taste… god… I can’t get enough..” He muttered to himself.
You tried to move away, the pleasure becoming all too much. You were shaking, mind turned to mush as you watched your Captain feast on you like a man starved.
“Stay still, I need to taste you.” He demanded. He wasn’t taunting, teasing or anything of the sort. The only thing that seemed to give him pleasure was pleasuring you. You snaked your hands down to push him off, overstimulated from cumming two times already. A quick hand wrapped around your wrist, firmly securing it and pushing it against the mattress.
“Do that again and I’ll have to tie you up, sergeant.” His words held an element of truth.
But you couldn’t help it. His mouth felt like heaven, and the friction his mustache gave off made it feel ten times more euphoric. You could feel the scratching of his mutton chops on the insides of your thighs, squeezing them closed every time he hit that spongy spot inside of you.
Your free hand fisted the sheet, looking for something to being you back down to reality, something to ground you.
“Not Stoppin’ till you cum. One more, darlin’ I need it. Give it to me, please.”
You felt the familiar sensation slowly making its way to you, causing your walls to flutter.
“John!”
“That’s right, ‘is me. I’m doin’ this to ya.”
Legs quivering with an unparalleled intensity, your entire body tensed up, muscles flexing as you inched closer and closer to the edge.
“John! John it’s close! I’m close!”
”Just let go. I want you to cum. Cum again. You can do it.” His hand moved up from your wrist and into yours, fingers intertwined.
Your saccharine voice flooded his bedroom, no longer caring if anyone else had heard you. He stared up at you with his deep blue eyes, taking in every part of your body as he continued his ministrations on your cunt.
“John! Oh- God!!” You cried out as your hand squeezed his.
He rose up from the center of your legs and you swore you’ve never seen a sight more beautiful. His face flushed from lack of air, beard and chin covered with your slick, and a cocky grin plastered across his face.
“Thas’ it. My good fuckin’ girl. So good for your captain, always followin’ his orders.”
“Your good girl, just for you John. All for you.” You babbled, drunk off of the intoxicating orgasms he had gifted you.
“I think it’s time for your reward, dear. What do you think?” He teased.
His hand freed itself and moved to his trousers, his tent evident as he cupped it through his pants.
“Yes! Yes, please!” You begged, hoping that he would finally give you his cock.
“Alright then.”
Tumblr media
“sergeant? Sergeant are you alright?” He whispered, his face adorning a worried look.
“Uh- yeah! Of course I am!”
His eyebrow quirked up, almost as if to say ‘You sure about that?’
“Actually… is it alright if I go to the ladies room?”
He leaned in close to you, an action Simon found suspicious. He glanced at your former lover.
“If it’s about him, you’re free to go back to my room, love.”
You thought about it, maybe that was exactly what you needed. Not because of Simon, no, but because of the lustful thoughts that plagued your mind. Christ, you couldn’t even meet your captain’s gaze without becoming a flustered mess.
”I think I’ll do that. Thank you, Price.”
He nodded in response, shifting his attention to Kyle, who had just returned from his exasperating run looking like a sweaty mess. Your figure slowly retreated, and simons eyes trailed you as you walked back to the building. The urge to follow you, to discover the contents of your conversation with Price, gnawed at him intensely. However, he found himself restrained; the watchful gaze of his captain bore into him like a hawk, preventing him from acting on his curiosity.
Simon harbored a desire to figure you out, pledging to find out the truth one way or another. As he watched you disappear, a noxious and festering feeling took root in his chest, intensifying the urgency of the said desire. The need to understand what unfolded between you and Price fueled his resolve, overshadowing the ominous sensation that clung to him. Despite the rotting unease, Simon steeled himself for the impending investigation, ready to confront the secrets that held themselves in the air.
Who were you going back to? Why did price just let you walk off like that? How is that fair to everyone else? Was he seeing you?
The suspicion that Price might have a more intimate connection with you added complexity to Simon's internal turmoil, intensifying his need to uncover the truth.
“I’m gonnae win Lieutenant! Knew I’d be be quicker than yae!”
The challenge from Mactavish was enough to spur him from his thoughts for now, but John was going to be under his scrutiny for a while.
Tumblr media
You felt like such a disgusting person, having your hand slowly creep under your pants as you laid there in his bed.
Everything smelled just like him too, turning you on tenfold. The way his abs laid under that thin (yet still existent) layer of fat was delicious. You’d imagined what it would feel like pressed against the back your thighs as he bottomed out inside you. The impact of his heavy balls smacking against your ass as he groaned into the crook of your neck.
You tried to curl your fingers the way John did in your dream, but they were too short and failed to reach the right spot. Your hips rocked desperately at your hand, your fingers trying their best to pleasure you. The pleasure never came.
You started rubbing your clit, hoping for some kind of release, yet got none.
“Fuck!” You cried out in frustration, craving your orgasm now more than ever.
You wished it wasn’t a dream, that he really did fuck you like your life depended on it. Slamming his hips into yours, his pubic hair touching your clit with every thrust. Rutting into your cunt like there truly was no tomorrow.
John price was your craving, akin to an unhealthy obsession, maybe even an addiction. You knew that he he would probably be extremely uncomfortable with the obvious age gap, but what was so wrong with it? It’s not like you were a child (Even though he calls you kid). You were an adult, and should be treated as such. You were young, so what?
Simon was much older than you as well. John was just more… mature. Something about him left your legs shaking and your panties wet whenever he entered the room. He had undeniably aged like fine wine. Having glimpsed old pictures of him and his former teammates on the walls of his office, you acknowledged his attractiveness back then. However, the passage of time had only enhanced his appeal, making him even more alluring now.
A sigh escaped your mouth as you gave up, retracting your hands from your pants, exhausted after working for half an hour at an unachievable goal.
Dressed in comfortable yet suitable attire for John's room, you strolled to the kitchen. Driven by hunger and determination, you explored the fridge for leftovers or ingredients and simultaneously checked the cabinets for spices to enhance the flavor of your culinary creation.
Exploring culinary options, the idea of preparing a Shepherd's Pie caught your attention, enticing your taste buds. Envisioning layers of savory delight, you imagined a foundation of seasoned ground lamb cooked with onions, carrots, and peas, bathed in a rich, flavorful gravy. Crowned with a lavish layer of creamy mashed potatoes, baked to a perfect golden hue, the dish promised a harmonious blend of tender lamb, hearty vegetables, and velvety mashed goodness. Enhanced with aromatic herbs such as rosemary and thyme, the kitchen would be filled with an alluring fragrance as the pie bubbled away in the oven.
The anticipation of savoring each forkful, experiencing a medley of textures and flavors from the silky mashed potatoes to the robust lamb filling, made opting for a Shepherd's Pie an irresistible decision, ensuring a truly delightful and comforting meal for you and John.
You quickly got to work, washing your hands before grabbing the ingredients.
With the vision of a delectable Shepherd's Pie firmly planted in your mind, you eagerly gathered all the essential ingredients. The aroma of fresh rosemary and thyme filled the air as you skillfully seasoned the ground lamb, sautéed onions, carrots, and peas to perfection. The kitchen buzzed with the comforting sounds of preparation as you crafted a rich and flavorful gravy, ensuring every spoonful would be a taste sensation. With precision, you layered the sumptuous lamb mixture into the dish, topping it generously with creamy mashed potatoes.
The symphony of colors and textures hinted at the delightful feast awaiting. As the Shepherd's Pie slowly baked, the kitchen became a haven of anticipation, the air thick with the irresistible scent of a home-cooked masterpiece. Finally, with the golden crust achieved, you triumphantly pulled the Shepherd's Pie from the oven, ready to savor the fruits of your culinary labor.
With the Shepherd's Pie masterpiece now complete, your attention turned to the presentation. Carefully slicing through the golden crust, you revealed the layers of savory goodness within.
Placing generous portions on each plate, you artfully arranged the creamy mashed potatoes and flavorful lamb filling. A sprinkle of fresh herbs on top added a final touch of elegance. The vibrant colors and enticing aromas transformed the plates into a visual and olfactory delight.
Perhaps a side of crisp green salad or a drizzle of gravy adorned the edges, enhancing the aesthetic appeal. Each plate was now a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.
As you meticulously set the beautifully plated Shepherd's Pie on the table, a fleeting thought crossed your mind about what John might think of the lunch you made.
The table now adorned with a visually appealing and inviting meal, the curiosity about how Price would perceive your effort added an extra layer of anticipation to the dining experience.
You heard the door unlocking, silently shaking out of nervousness and excitement, hoping he would like your meal. Silently, you shook off the nerves, hoping that Price would appreciate the effort you put into preparing the Shepherd's Pie.
The aroma wafting through the air was a prelude to the meal you crafted, and as the door opened, your anticipation and hope for a positive response intensified.
“Love? What-” He took in the scent of the pie, eyes darting to the plates and then to yours.
you wondered what he was thinking.
Tumblr media
After Price wrapped up the training session with Gaz, exhausted from sparring with the both of you, he decided to head back to the room for a brief respite.
Even though he was seasoned by years of military service, his plan was simple – a quick snack and a moment to unwind. Yet, there was an underlying hope that you would be awake when he returned to the room, providing an opportunity for a meaningful conversation after the rigorous training session.
Upon opening the door, he was met with the delightful aroma of a dish from his youth. The fragrance alone was captivating, and seeing you standing by it with a smile, eagerly awaiting his reaction, intensified the pounding of his heart in his chest.
he envisioned a life away from all of this, out of the hands of war. He had a family with you, came home to you every night. There was something so domestic about you cooking for him, and it made him an even bigger sucker for you.
“Sorry if you didn’t want the lamb being used, I wanted to surprise you. I’ll pay you back if needed!”
Pay him back? You just made him a delicious lunch and you think he wants you to pay him back?
“No dove, ‘was going to go to waste sooner or later. Really appreciate your Cookin’” He exerted himself while settling into the dining chair.
”Thought you would be hungry after sparring with both of us, you should really take better care of yourself, John.”
“Jus’ like a wife.” Those words ran to his lips before he could stop his tongue.
Your face contorted into an unreadable expression, eyes widening at the sentence that slipped from his mouth. He covered it up with an awkward laugh, hoping to make the situation less uncomfortable.
“I’ll… be right back.”
He was frustrated. Why would he go and say something so stupid? Why did he even think of it? The idea crossed his mind, but you had no interest in being with someone like him.
He watched as you sped down the hall and into his bathroom, unable to read your face. He reluctantly stuck his fork into his slice, taking a small bite and savoring the delicious taste.
Hopefully you’ll think he was joking about what he said. He wasn’t though.
Imagining a life together, he pictured you eagerly embracing him after deployment, showering him with affectionate kisses. You practically dragging him to your living room as you told him all about what happened while he was gone, asking about the others.
He wanted you out of this hellhole. You were far too kind for a life like his.
“So? How do you like it? Does it taste alright?!” You inquired.
Your unexpected entrance disrupted his thoughts, causing him to jerk in his chair before responding.
“You make a hell of a pie darlin’.”
“I tried to make it tasteful, first time I ever made it.”
“That’s an excellent first try, I’ll say.”
Observing him for a moment, you watched as he scooped up more bites with his fork before settling down to savor the meal.
“You weren’t lying, I did cook good.” You laughed.
He raised his head and let out a quick ‘mhm’ before eating again.
“Dear, if you’re going to live here… even if it’s temporary… you’re going to have to pitch in.”
”Oh- oh my god I’m so sorry I would’ve-“
His raised finger brought your sentence to a halt.
“By cooking. Cook for me and you can stay as long as you’d like.” He was joking, but part of him wasn’t.
Tumblr media
"Lieutenant, what's yer take? Shall we give a shot at conversin' with the lass? I'm up for havin' a blether with her."
Johnny had harbored feelings for his Lieutenant's lady, hidden until last night. Her warm smile and the small talks she initiated, often mentioning what Simon said about him, stirred something within him.
Every aspect of her aroused him. While he had no desire for a relationship with her, the thought of mind-blowing sex lingered in his mind.
"Wot you gonna say to 'er?"
”Gonnae seduce her with ma irresistible charms.” He joked.
Simon wasn’t laughing. It could work, perhaps you three could work out something. A threesome was definitely enticing.
"Not the worst idea you've 'ad."
Johnny thought about it, your lips wrapped around his hardened cock, moaning around it as Simon relentlessly pounded into your cervix. Your tits jiggling with every thrust of his hips.
“Would be fuckin’ hot, wouldinnit?”
“Not wrong.” He grunted.
They both strolled in sync back to your (now Simon’s) shared room, prepared to release some tension after being thoroughly worked over during sparring.
"For noo, let's focus on jist us, aye Lieutenant?"
Simon grunted in response, turning his key and unlocking the door.
“Where dae yae wannae have me?”
“On yer knees.”
Tumblr media
You and John had decided to watch whatever you could on the tele, with DVDs of course since the channels had to use satellites and such.
After a couple of hours indoors, you decided it was time to retrieve your belongings from your (Simon’s) room. John offered to join you for support, but you insisted on handling it alone, feeling guilty for staying with him and emphasizing your independence as an adult.
You navigated through the base, reaching your room, and opted for a brief pause before entering. A gust of wind brought some stray dirt to your face, causing you to cough and wheeze as you approached the door.
You knocked, aiming for a swift retrieval of your belongings. Getting no response, you proceeded to enter, unlocking the door with your key as it was locked.
Lo and behold, Johnny was bent over what was once your table, with Simon pistoning into him from behind. He was moaning like a dog in heat, begging your former lover for his release. Desperate pleas paraded from his lips until he locked eyes with you.
“Lieute- nghhh- Fuck! Lieutenant!” Johnny choked out, trying to signal for Simon to stop.
“Thas’ it, keep crying for me pet. Jus’ like that.” He groaned, still not realizing your presence.
Johnny arched his back to look up at him, tapping at his broad shoulders then shoving him away, unable to make a sentence when Simon’s cock was hitting the right spot with every thrust. When he finally did slow his pace, glaring at him, his line of sight synced with his as he gazed you. His hips never paused, now slowly rocking into the scot’s ass. His hand reached to grab his jaw, forcing him to look at you as his orgasm approached.
“Y’wanted to seduce her, here she is. Look at her, pet. Pretty thing, isn’t she?” Simon grunted.
“S-so pretty”
“I bet she thinks yer pretty too, Sergeant. Do ya think he’s pretty, luv?”
You’re too stunned by the sight in front of you to even speak. You just mindlessly agree, not knowing how to respond.
“Tell him, tell him how good he is f’me.”
You want so badly to be mad, but with the lustful way Johnny looks at you with his beautiful blue eyes, you can’t help it.
“Such a good boy, Johnny.”
He whimpers at your words, cock twitching as Simon speeds up the pace. He fists it, but not for long since Simon yanked his hand back.
“Good boys ask, right pet? Ask her. I bet her mouth would feel much better.”
Johnny could barely muster the question, panting out your name breathlessly. You get on your knees and climb under the table, leaving him and Simon shocked. Your eyes lock with the latter and he fucking groans.
“This isn’t for you.” You spit out, taking Soap’s lengthy cock into your palm.
Hel whines, twitching in your hand, aching for his release. You softly stroke him, starting off at a slower pace.
“Faster, Bonnie. Please.”
And how could you not give him what he asked so nicely for?
You tightened your grip on him, bringing your hand lower and tapping the tip against your tongue before taking it in your mouth. You hear a quiet ‘ah, fuck’ fall from his lips.
Simon was now relentlessly pounding into his ass again, causing Johnny to push forward. His hips were now directly against the table, his cock plundering its way into your mouth as you traced his balls with your finger.
“So… good… gonnae.. cum!”
“Ask first.” Simon grunts.
“Can I cum, Lieutenant?”
”Not the right person, ask ‘er.”
“Please, hen.” He gasps, his balls tightening while he spoke.
You let out a ‘Mhm’, choking on his length when taking all of him in your mouth. The vibrations were too much, causing him to cum on the spot. You give him a few more strokes and take him out of your mouth.
“So good for ‘er, Johnny.”
Crawling out from under the table, you decide to do something you’ve never done with Simon. You stick your tongue out, showcasing the scot’s semen and crashing your lips onto his. He moaned as you ran your tongue across the roof of his mouth, tasting himself before following your movements. After tonging each other for what seemed like forever, you pull off of him to catch your breath, glaring at Simon before walking off to the bedroom.
You're not sure why you did it, but it felt good. Soap isn't the problem; it was ghost.
In the intricate web of emotions, you found yourself tangled, unsure of your feelings for Price, Simon, or Johnny. Each connection carried its own dynamic, leaving you in a state of indecisiveness. Price offered stability, Simon, well, your not even sure anymore, and Johnny, a sense of adventure.
Navigating through the emotional maze your brain created, you grappled with the pain of your heart, torn between different affections, as you tried to decipher your emotions for each of them while you packed your bags.

Do you think that when Gojo first heard that Itadori ate a cursed object he was instantly reminded of Geto? Do you think that somewhere in his heart he knew what was going to happen because nothing good came to the person, his Suguru, who ate curses. Do you think that's why Gojo was so insistent on helping out Itadori, because in some cruel way every time he looked at the teen he was reminded of Geto? Of Geto and how he didn't notice his best friend lover spiralling until it was too late already? Do you think--?
I love literally all of those observations because they imply, so heavily, that Gojo is always looking at the world through Suguru colored glasses. To an extent, I absolutely think that’s right.
Tumblr media
But with that and before anything else, Gojo's understanding of the situation was observed and influenced through Megumi. Despondent, isolated Megumi.
Upon Gojo's overly casual interjection into the situation, I think his first impulse was curiosity with a sprinkle of ego. Like, is the kid saveable? But also, let's see how much stronger I am than Sukuna. We know Gojo loves the opportunity to go all out and it's so infrequent so why not take it out on the awakened King of Curses? But even his first notion was more geared toward whether Yuji could be a vessel.
Giving Megumi some autonomy over the situation was, I think, a bit of a test. Gojo isn't exactly a black and white judge of morality and Megumi is probably as endeared to Gojo as he is integral to Gojo's vision for the future of jujutsu. Less from a papa-Gojo standpoint (as much as we love to see it) and more strategically. I'm not one to overly imbue Gojo with the capacity for affection. Man is clearly plotting.
But, with a simple question, Megumi is prompted to outline what jujutsu law dictates while also refuting it due to his personal discretion.... It's a test of his character. As if Gojo wants to be sure the person under his tutelage will have the resolve to take on the current status quo as intended (like father like son ✨).
Now, seemingly acting at the behest of his young charge, he acts as Yuji's benefactor but we already know this isn't uncommon re: Yuta. As Yuji is integrated into society, we see how Gojo relates to him but I think he sees more of himself than Geto.
Tumblr media
Please, just look at them.
His history with Geto remains a guiding force in why he does the things he does and why he seeks to protect the youth. But I question whether Gojo really had the emotional complexity to grasp the inequities of his strength and technique as compared to Geto's and how it subsequently weighed on his friend.
I do think he's able to exploit saving Yuji and pivot it into something to draw Megumi out of his shell. Perhaps to correct his own failure for the way he couldn't help Geto toward the end because he and Megumi have a similar disposition. It's why, in an almost completely abandoned school, he puts Yuji right next door to Megumi. It's the first step in curing the isolation of being The Strongest but also maybe the best chance they have of keeping each other sane.

Starter GPose: Lighting 101 - GPose controls
Tumblr media
It's hard to overstate how important lighting is for photography in general- and the same applies to gpose shots.
This is a huge topic, so let's start with the basics!
GPose Controls
There are 3 different kinds of lighting control available when in gpose: Global, Character, and Points.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Global illumination is controlled by the manual brightness adjustment slider. This is equivalent, in real-life photography, to exposure. Character lightning has no real-life equivalent, but may be thought of as a brightness control that only influences characters and similar entities (minions, NPCs, and enemies, for example.)
GPose also gives you 3 point light sources that can be used to emulate the 3-point lighting traditional method for illuminating a subject.
Tumblr media
Positioning a source isn't exactly intuitive: A source is placed exactly where the camera is at the moment it is toggled. So to place it you need to move the camera to the desired position, and then enable it by toggling its button.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oddly enough, these points do NOT project shadows. (in fact, a great deal of 'glowy' elements don't, like weapons and armor.) But you can use this fact for great effects!
Tumblr media
You can, for example, create shots with perfect dark backgrounds by strategically placing gpose light points behind objects that do not block the emitted light. You can learn more about this technique here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, so where was I? Oh, right- lighting!
Let's play around with what we just learned then. Here's a default setup for a scene: Notice that the ceiling light *do* project shadows, but it's kinda low-res. So let's set ambient light to zero and control the shades ourselves.
Tumblr media
Some rotation and gshade filters from Neneko Colors for better luminance, color, and model shades. It's better - but still looks pretty flat.
Tumblr media
We want to pop the character out, so let's add some highlights and rim lights. First, the hair: let's give it a lustrous shine. Camera up top and a slightly bluish point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now the weapon. Remember that the item itself doesn't emit light? so let's place another point with the same tone as the weapon to illuminate Louise. To her left and behind her, slightly distant so as to project on her legs as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, a directional key light to help illuminate her face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her model is still too dark, so let's use the character lighting control to help with that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let's make the whole scene a bit brighter. Change the brightness adjustment slider to manual mode, and bring it up as needed.
Tumblr media
This should be a good point to compare the initial setup with our results so far, showing how much basic gpose lighting can enhance a shot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that you know how it's done, it's easy to see how some of my poses were set up! Here's one with a yellow source top-right, an orange source bottom-right, and a dim white source to the left of Louise:
Tumblr media
Or this one: A very bright white source to the left (and a bit to the front), and a dim bluish/purplish source to the bottom right. Notice how much Louise pops out of the scene.
Tumblr media
Next, I'll talk about exterior shots, fixture light sources, and other neat things.
(This guide is part of a series that I'm migrating from Twitter since Tumblr offers much better options for formatting and editing, and taking the opportunity to also update images and references. Let me know if you have any questions!)

Heyy sorry to do this. Requests will be closed by the end of October! Hehe, I may not seem it, but I'm kinda young, and I got exams, hehehe, so I'll make it up by writing a few more before this 14th.
So Dan heng caught me attention. Unfortunately, honkai Star Rail has to be given up because I can't afford to mega games (latter is genshin impact). Anyway, lee!Dan heng it is! Out of the question! He deserves it!
Ps I love this new design, and I'm one to talk when I am spoiled too, so spoilers for Honkai star rail new update. But its before he turns super duper hot... he's still super hot! Heeee squeee!
Tumblr media
Same as always
March 7th had definitely gone to Himeko for something she wished to discuss with her. Caelus was alone with Dan heng who was always in the solitary state. His aura is calm and unapproachable. Its like an arena in a thunderstorm, waiting to strike once the conquerer is disturbed.
But Caelus loves to mess with a serious guy like him.
"Dan heng~?"
He knew the teasy tone from Caelus too well, he sighed "Yes? Caelus?"
"Wanna play a game?"
He stared, his deep eyes peirced through his own golden orbs, "Play that Nintendo switch by yourself"
Caelus pouted now. "I wanna play with you, duh!"
Dan heng silently leaned back against the couch of his room. He lifted the book up so he could read it better "Try reading, at least a word?"
That little!
Caelus wondered, how can someone so cool and collected be flustered. He certainly can be annoyed but not enough.
March would try to disturb him.
So...
Dan heng had ears so he could tell Caelus, circling behind him where his head rested on the arm of the couch, looking at the book. Sitting straight now, Caelus leaned over his shoulder and eyeing the large heavy words and texts on the boring book.
Caelus pointed out warily "man you are so weird"
"I could say the same. Why are you so clingy?" He sharply said, trying to move front by his hands, grabbing his shoulders to stop his movement.
"Stop touching me so causally, please..."
"Serious dude!" Caelus groaned playfully and then surprising Dan heng he drilled two index fingers on his exposed ribs, startling him as he dropped the book.
Caelus smirked, really didn't expect him to be ticklish but had hopes he succeeded.
Sighing Dan heng pretended to not have felt ot "Stop touching me so casually Caelus, what do you want?"
He hummed now once more hooking an arm over his shoulder and pulling him close to his side "ahhh bro chill, your so stiff and rigid, lighten up" he tossed the book in front of him and Dan henf sighed irritably "Gosh, March's influence sure is amazing"
True... now that she's contagious he feels more attentive tk mess with Dan heng.
Sneaking an arm to his ribs, Dan heng stiffened as the tickly touch. Its casual and testing, Dan heng tried to hide it.
"Somerhing wrong?" Caelus grinned, now gently pinching his sides, which he tried to hide. Dan heng cleared his throat, still holding a straight but anxious face.
So he's fighting back? Interesting, Caelus snickered.
A little tweak to the hips-
"Eek!" Dan heng almost ruined his endurance, he grabbed his wrist in swift motion now giving a dark glare "Caelus, cut it out... this is very irritating"
Caelus giggled "Come on admit thst tickles?" He poked his tummy to force him "right? Right tough guy?"
"A-absurd yohou should give up! Chihildish techniques won't work on mehe!" He says it with trembling giggles. Cute... Caelus didn't think his icy nature could melt so sweetly.
Crumble his defence a little around here.
"H-hey!" His ribs...
Then another wiggle to his tummy.
"K-knohock it off! I'm warning yohou!"
Finally sneaky fingers under his neck to expose his armpits. He gasped at that and...
"Gotcha, Dan heng"
It was at this moment that Dan heng was slightly impressed by his strategic plan. Of only, he uses his brain during missions as well.
"Gehehe, ahahalright, you hahahad your fuhun!"
"Wait, did Dan heng honest to god giggled!?" Genuinely, he was surprised. it's a rare sight to see his face blush and explode with giggles.
"Cute..."
"Hahahahaha nohoho!" That triggered him tk blush. Alright this is too cute, why didn't March tell him something this important... unless nobody knows but themselves?
Caelus knew armpits should weaken him, so he kept his target there whole Dan heng could concentrate to push him off.
"Man, you sure are sensitive, I expected you to have escaped this by now, but you're too ticklish for your own good"
"STAHAHAP TALKING!" His voice shrieked, the usual calmness was gone now he was loud when Caelus grabbed his ears.
Those blushing ears were a dead giveaway to his sensitivity. Dan heng widened his eyes grabbing his wrists and shaking his head "T-thahat tickles... WAHAHAHAIT! EHEHEHEHE PLEHEHEASE I GIHIHIVE UP!"
Caelus obliged and cupped Dan heng's face with adornment "you should laugh more bro... its adorable"
Pushing his hand away and blushing even more redder than earlier, he panted, "I... hahate you, childish idiot"
"Love you too, handsome"
Although they both did know, he somewhat enjoyed that as a smile lingered close to his lips even after the tickle attack. Maybe just a tiny bit... he could say he liked it? Probably, he won't mind another round with Caelus.

Gavin Hyde
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gavin Hyde, a former performer, led a life on the edge, dabbling in the underworld with his acrobatic skills. Hydra, always seeking exceptional talents, discovered him when his covert activities caught their attention. Intrigued by his prowess in sharpshooting and gymnastics, Hydra saw the potential for a deadly operative.
Kidnapping Gavin, they subjected him to a rigorous mind-wiping procedure, erasing his past and molding him into a blank canvas. Injecting false memories and manipulating his instincts, Hydra forged a new identity—a perfect assassin with no allegiance but to them.
Trained in an isolated facility, Gavin excelled in various combat techniques, becoming a master of disguise and infiltration. His former life a distant blur, he emerged as Hydra's lethal asset, a sharpshooter with unparalleled skills and an unsettling lack of connection to his own past.
The Assassin's life
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Immersed in his new life as a Hydra assassin, Gavin Hyde operates in the shadows, executing covert missions with deadly precision. Trained in cutting-edge weaponry and martial arts, he became a master of infiltration, seamlessly blending into any environment. Hydra's manipulative programming ensures his unwavering loyalty, as memories of his former self remain elusive.
Gavin's assignments vary from high-profile political assassinations to espionage and sabotage. His sharpshooting skills make him a ghostly threat from a distance, while his proficiency in gymnastics enables him to navigate through the most secure environments undetected. Hydra's influence extends beyond training, providing him with state-of-the-art gadgets and technology to accomplish his missions.
His encounters are marked by a cold and calculated demeanor, devoid of personal connection. Despite the absence of genuine emotions, occasional flashes of suppressed memories serve as haunting reminders of a life he can't fully grasp. The internal struggle between his manufactured identity and the fragments of a forgotten past adds a layer of complexity to his existence. Each mission deepens the enigma of Gavin Hyde, the Hydra assassin.
The loyal soldier
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a Hydra assassin, Gavin Hyde exhibits a chilling blend of precision and detachment. Trained to suppress personal emotions, his demeanor is stoic and calculated. Cold and efficient, he approaches each mission with a clinical focus, executing tasks with ruthless proficiency.
Gavin's loyalty to Hydra is unwavering, a result of the manipulated memories and programming that bind him to their cause. He operates in the shadows, a master of discretion, and his interactions are marked by a lack of personal connection. Social nuances and empathy are sacrificed for the sake of his lethal efficiency.
Despite the manufactured exterior, occasional glimpses of internal conflict surface as suppressed memories try to resurface. These moments of vulnerability are swiftly pushed aside as Gavin embraces his role as Hydra's operative. The struggle between his artificially constructed identity and the mysterious fragments of his past adds an intriguing layer to his personality, creating a Hydra assassin with a complex internal landscape.
The awakening
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gavin's awakening begins with a series of fragmented memories that Hydra's mind-wiping process failed to entirely erase. Flashes of his former life and emotions start to resurface, triggering a growing sense of internal conflict. A chance encounter with an individual from his past, someone outside Hydra's influence, acts as a catalyst for self-discovery.
As these memories intensify, Gavin begins to question the authenticity of his current existence and the morality of Hydra's operations. The realization that he is a pawn in a larger, malevolent game sparks a desire for autonomy and redemption. The emotional turmoil, combined with a growing aversion to Hydra's control, fuels his determination to break free.
Strategically exploiting his skills and knowledge of Hydra's operations, Gavin orchestrates a daring escape. He leverages his sharpshooting abilities, gymnastic prowess, and a keen understanding of Hydra's vulnerabilities to navigate their highly secured facilities. Along the way, he encounters allies, individuals sympathetic to his plight or former associates with their own scores to settle against Hydra.
The final breakthrough comes when Gavin uncovers the truth about his forced transformation and the erasure of his past. Armed with newfound clarity, he confronts Hydra's leaders, exposing their manipulation and defying their control. A high-stakes showdown ensues, culminating in Gavin's escape from the clutches of Hydra. Now a fugitive, Gavin Hyde embraces his true identity and sets out to rebuild his life.
The life of an ex-assasin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haunted by the guilt of his dark past as a Hydra assassin, Gavin Hyde finds himself unable to fully escape the weight of the lives he took and the suffering he inflicted. Unable to return to his old life, the specter of his actions casts a perpetual shadow over any hope for a conventional existence.
Embracing the role of an ex-Hydra assassin, Gavin becomes a master of disguise and anonymity. He navigates the shadows, using his skills to stay hidden from both Hydra and those seeking vengeance for his past deeds. The world may see him as a ghost, a phantom in the periphery, but Gavin cannot elude the memories that relentlessly pursue him.
Driven by a profound desire for redemption, he takes on covert missions of a different kind—helping those in need, thwarting criminal enterprises, and using his lethal expertise for a just cause. Each act of altruism becomes a small step towards absolution, yet the guilt remains an unshakable companion.
The struggle to reconcile his past actions with his present endeavors becomes Gavin's ongoing journey. The shadows may be his refuge, but they also serve as a constant reminder of the darkness he seeks to escape.
Fueled by the weight of his past and the guilt that accompanies it, Gavin Hyde transforms into a solitary figure, a lone wolf in the unforgiving wilderness of his own existence. Refusing to trust or work with others, he becomes an enigmatic force, navigating the shadows with a stoic determination.
Gavin's isolation is both a shield and a self-imposed penance. He avoids forming connections, fearing the potential consequences of entangling others in his tumultuous journey. His commitment to solitude is a defense mechanism against the vulnerability that comes with trust, a lesson learned through the betrayals and manipulations of his Hydra past.
As a lone wolf, Gavin relies solely on his own instincts and skills. He disappears into the anonymity of the world, taking on covert missions with surgical precision. The echoes of his former life as a Hydra assassin resonate in his every move, a constant reminder of the darkness he seeks to distance himself from.
Despite the isolation, Gavin's internal struggle persists. The memories of his deeds and the quest for redemption weigh heavily on his shoulders. In the solitude he has chosen, he battles not only external threats but the demons within, attempting to find solace and purpose in a world that has forever changed him.
Strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths:
1. Exceptional Skills: Gavin Hyde possesses unparalleled skills in sharpshooting, gymnastics, and combat, honed through Hydra's intense training.
2. Adaptability: His ability to adapt to various environments and situations makes him a formidable operative, whether infiltrating secure locations or executing precise long-range shots.
3. Resourcefulness: Gavin's experiences as a Hydra assassin have sharpened his resourcefulness, allowing him to make use of available tools and technology to overcome challenges.
4. Stealth and Infiltration: A master of stealth, Gavin can move through the shadows undetected, making him elusive and difficult to track.
5. Independent Operative: His lone wolf mentality enables him to operate independently, making quick decisions without the burden of collaboration.
Weaknesses:
1. Emotional Burden: The guilt and emotional weight of his past actions as a Hydra assassin constantly haunt Gavin, affecting his decision-making and mental well-being.
2. Trust Issues: Gavin's reluctance to trust others hinders potential alliances and partnerships, making him vulnerable in situations where teamwork is essential.
3. Isolation: His self-imposed isolation can lead to a lack of support, leaving him without allies when facing formidable adversaries.
4. Limited Interpersonal Skills: The years of Hydra conditioning have left Gavin with limited interpersonal skills, making it challenging for him to connect with others on a personal level.
5. Haunted Past: Memories of his Hydra indoctrination and the atrocities he committed serve as a psychological weakness, occasionally impacting his focus and resolve.
hopefully you like him, let me know what you think 💖

I'd like able-bodied cosplayers to understand that when I say I adapt costume designs to my disability by reducing complexity during construction (namely for Genshin Impact, my current hyperfixation, which is also notorious for needlessly detailed costumes), I'm not simply skipping details because I feel like it* or "cutting corners" because I'm lazy.
It's like that one time a few years ago when I was on the second-to-last day of a sea kayaking trip with a group of other students from my college. Stick with me for this metaphor.
It was a ten-day-long trip, so we'd only packed what we could all fit on our kayaks, including food. Since we were nine days in, we were getting to the end of our food supplies--though, with our return to populated areas, we were able to make a grocery stop for ingredients for our final dinner of the trip, which would be a vegetable stir-fry.
We had $20 in the budget to buy ingredients for a meal to feed over a dozen people.
VOCALOID is one of my special interests, so the first words out of my mouth, without much consideration behind them, were "green onions."
In response, one of the guides wondered aloud, "Do green onions really add anything to a stir-fry?"
Don't get me wrong, I'll add green onions to any stir-fry given the opportunity; they do add that vaguely spicy-sweet kick that complements other flavors really well. So it's not like they don't add anything.
However, given our limited budget, in contrast to the size of the meal we had to make, it didn't make sense to spend a significant portion of our money on an ingredient that would function primarily as a garnish--something that serves mostly to enhance flavor; IIRC we ended up buying things like carrots and green peppers, which would instead add the substance we needed to make enough food for everyone.
With a disability that affects my motor control, constructing cosplays above a certain level of detail/complexity is like putting together a large meal on budget constraints--because I can only spend so long on a costume before I get burnt out, and every piece of fine detailing I add takes increasingly more time, just as every ingredient you add to a stir-fry takes increasingly more money.
So when I'm planning construction for a cosplay, it's like looking in the produce aisle of a grocery store and deciding what to spend $20 on. Metaphorically speaking, I'm going to want to prioritize details that add "substance," rather than those that function merely as a "garnish."
I have to look at every detail on the costume, think through how I would construct it--often multiple times, to ensure I'm using the optimal techniques--and consciously decide: What does this detail add to the costume? How much of my limited time and focus is it going to take? How well can I reliably replicate it given my disability? Considering all of these factors, does including this detail justify its contribution to the completed piece?
It's its own form of strategizing and problem-solving. I'm not doing it solely to make my life easier--I'm doing it because my disability effectively puts me on a sort of non-monetary budget and I have to optimize how I'm going to utilize that budget (on top of financially budgeting!).
Competitions, including cosplay competitions, are equal, not fair, so there's no way to completely remove ableism from cosplay judging. As you might say, judges gonna judge. They're just doing their job, and they get to make the final decisions in terms of scoring and placements, so I'm not going to pretend that I can influence the opinion of every cosplay judge out there with my metaphor.
Still, going forward, I'd like to see increased awareness of ableism in the cosplay environment--specifically, saving the judgment for the competition, and even then, realizing that a simple numerical score can never encapsulate the full nuance of any given cosplayer's experience with the construction of their piece; any number of factors you might initially think are conscious decisions on a cosplayer's part are actually responses to factors completely beyond their control, like dis/ability, budget, access to tools and materials, and other forms of privilege.
*Even if I am skipping details just because I feel like it, it's because I'd rather have a completed costume I can enjoy than get so frustrated and hung up on it that it makes me want to quit cosplay altogether. I resent that crunching and causing ourselves so many negative emotions over building a costume that just has to be perfect is so normalized that, from my experience, it's effectively a requirement for competitive cosplayers.

It's me again. Are there proper ways of writing fight scenes that flow well? And are there ways to make fights feel realistic without feeling like it stops the story in its tracks? How do I find the middle ground between realism and injury healing times?
Thanks for asking!
Maintaining realism in fights while keeping the story flowing smoothly is crucial for engaging storytelling. Here are some tips to achieve that balance:
Integrate fights into the narrative: Make sure that the fights serve a purpose in advancing the plot or developing the characters. They should feel like a natural progression of the story rather than an interruption.
Character motivations and stakes: Ensure that the characters involved in the fight have clear motivations and stakes. This adds depth to the conflict and makes the fight feel more meaningful to the audience.
Use variety in fight scenes: Avoid repetitive fight scenes by incorporating different fighting styles, environments, and tactics. This keeps the audience engaged and prevents the story from feeling stagnant.
Show the consequences: Realistic fights have consequences, both physical and emotional. Show the aftermath of the fight and how it impacts the characters and the story moving forward.
Balance action with other elements: Don't let the fight scenes overshadow other important aspects of the story, such as character development, dialogue, and plot progression. Maintain a balance between action and quieter moments to keep the story flowing smoothly.
Keep it concise: Avoid prolonged fight scenes that drag on unnecessarily. Focus on the key moments of the fight that are most relevant to the story and characters, and move the narrative forward efficiently.
Incorporate tension and suspense: Build tension and suspense leading up to the fight to make it feel more impactful. Use pacing, foreshadowing, and strategic placement within the story to heighten anticipation.
Make it believable: Research fighting techniques and strategies to ensure that the fight scenes are realistic and grounded in reality. Avoid overly exaggerated or implausible actions that may break immersion for the audience.
Finding the middle ground between realism and narrative pacing in injury healing times and recovery can be challenging but rewarding for maintaining both credibility and story momentum. Here are some tips:
Research: Understand typical healing times for various injuries. Medical websites, journals, and consultations with healthcare professionals can provide valuable insights.
Consider context: The severity of the injury and the overall tone of your story will influence the healing time. A minor scrape will heal quickly, while a major wound would naturally take longer.
Character abilities: Take into account your character's physical condition, age, and any supernatural or futuristic elements that could affect healing. A trained fighter might recover faster than an ordinary person, while futuristic technology or magical abilities could speed up the process.
Plot demands: Sometimes, the pace of your story might require injuries to heal faster than they would realistically. In such cases, consider adjusting the healing time while maintaining some level of believability.
Show the process: Even if you need to speed up the healing process for narrative purposes, acknowledge the injury and its effects on the character. Show them experiencing pain, discomfort, or limitations even as they recover.
Use time skips wisely: If you need to compress healing times for the sake of pacing, consider using time skips or transitions to indicate the passage of time without dwelling too much on the healing process itself.
Balance drama and realism: Strive for a balance between dramatic tension and realism. Injuries can provide opportunities for character development and conflict resolution, so consider how the healing process can contribute to the narrative arc.
Persistent effects: Even if a character's injuries are on the mend, they may not fully heal before the story's conclusion. Implementing this in your writing involves ensuring that the injury continues to affect the character in some way, whether it's physical discomfort, limited mobility, or psychological trauma.
Plot hindrance: Use the not-fully-healed injury to hinder the character's progress or add tension to the plot. For example, if the character's arm was injured in a fight, they may struggle with tasks that require the use of that arm, such as wielding a weapon or climbing.
Pain and discomfort: Continue to reference the injury after the initial healing period. Describe how the character experiences pain or discomfort, particularly in situations that aggravate the injury. This could be triggered by specific movements, weather conditions, or emotional stress.
Character growth: Show how the character copes with their lingering injury. This could lead to moments of vulnerability, resilience, or resourcefulness, allowing for further character development and depth.
For more tips on writing fight scenes, see my previous post!
Hope this helped ❤

here’s my advice: read a book again and again and again, learning something new about it each time. read it five times before you open another one. pick a recipe you love and make it as often as possible, tweaking spices and techniques until it’s perfect and entirely yours. write it out on a notecard each time and put the final product in a rolodex. you can pass these on to your children! scan them for your friends! think of how lovelier that is than sending them a link to a paywalled nyt cooking article.
spend a month watching a great movie. watch the director’s cut and the behind-the-scenes documentary and then watch the films that influenced it and read the director’s favourite book. work to understand things, and not just the things themselves but the conditions that created them and the impact those things had on the world around them. let those things become a part of you instead of a distraction from yourself. i think the act of loving something should be generative and consuming — it should add something to who you are and lead you to a new understanding of all the parts that were already there. when i scroll on tiktok or whatever, i can’t get away from the feeling that almost nothing there is really meant to be loved — it’s just meant to be snorted, basically, and occasionally get you to buy something.
i remember the feeling of teenage obsession, and i miss it desperately. few things about our everyday lives are more genuinely magical to me than the way that loving something with commitment can rewire your understanding of time: instead of dates or semesters, i can place moments of my early life inside the year where i only read vonnegut, the month i first loved the smiths, the autumn i spent with that rilke poem. it manages to make time physical — it turns it into something that can be tasted and touched. i want my life to be textured by the periods i spent perfecting a stone fruit hot honey cake or watching murder mysteries. wouldn’t it be wonderful to one day taste a cake and remember how you felt in september?
i have many criticisms of rapid-fire, non-stop consumption, but none are so personal to me as this: when we submit to a cultural landscape that tells us to never stop looking for the new shiniest thing, we lose a kind of language for understanding ourselves and others. loving is a muscle that’s been strategically atrophied by a culture of manic consumption and constant availability.
there is so much of everything now that taking your time with one thing — giving it the attention it deserves, when your attention is so valuable a currency — feels like a kind of rebellion. in many ways, i think it is.

Just had another thought, do you guys think Chung Myung would, initially, be negatively or positively affected by someone from his past coming back to life like he did?
This has spoilers up to ch 800+!!
Like, I really like the idea of him being overjoyed, of him being able to rest a little easier, knowing that there's someone else who can truly understand. But also, as Chung Myung grows throughout the novel, he begins to separate himself more and more from the person he used to be. The Sword Saint died on that mountain range, and in his place, slowly but surely, emerged the Divine Dragon. I have more to say about Chung Myungs separation of identity, but that's not the point of this thought.
Yes, in the beginning he is always comparing the old and new Mount Hua. As the story develops, however, he stops comparing them all the time. He begins to accept that he will never have his old Mount Hua back, and he starts falling in love with the one surrounding him. He, himself starts to change. Out with the old, in with the new and all that jazz.
So how would he react to say, Chung Mun or Chung Jin coming back? Initially, I think he'd be relieved. Long term? I'm not sure. Chapter 850 something (or around there idk) explains this pretty well. Chung Myung draws inspiration from those in his past life who he thought would be able to help the present Mount Hua. He tries to think like Chung Mun, he tries to strategize like Chung Jin, and when he can't he develops feelings of inadequacy.
MAJOR SPOILERS BEGIN HERE!!!!
This is directly shown after the battle with Jang Ilso at Yangtze river. After Chung Myung woke up from his injuries, the first thing he did was go over the battle in his head, thinking about how many things during the battle that he miss, and how he wishes someone besides him was brought back. How anyone else would be more useful than him. These feelings of inadequacy persist, until Yu Iseol and Baek Cheon knock it into his head that the reason Mount Hua has gotten this far is because of HIM.
Bringing back the original topic of this thought, I'm really not sure how Chung Myung would react to someone from his past coming back. Would he look to them for guidance (probably) and give up someone of the control he has over the sect/alliance (probably not?)? Would he maintain all his control? Would his training methods change? It has been stated in the novel that the reason Chung Myung didn't originally teach anyone HIS sword was because it's a deviation of traditional Mount Hua techniques, suited more for the battlefield. Would having Chung Jin, who is notorious about his intense desire to pass on Mount Huas techniques for future generations, affect Chung Myungs decision to deviate from tradition? Would he expect whoever that came back to support his plan whole heartedly??
Jvjfjdjsjna I really don't know!! This is what is so interesting about Chung Myung. He is influenced by so many different characters, but doesn't let that influence change who he is fundamentally as a person. I can't even begin to think of how having someone from the past would change and warp Chung Myungs current plans

When the Kansas City Chiefs romp to a Super Bowl victory on February 11, tight end Travis Kelce will bring his superstar girlfriend onto the field, drop to one knee, and propose. Their engagement will unleash a media maelstrom and create the conditions for Taylor Swift’s hugely significant endorsement of embattled president Joe Biden.
That is, according to a network of prominent conspiracy theorists, the plan hatched inside the Pentagon to keep the president in power.
The far-right broadcasters behind this very specific prediction have offered no proof for it, nor do they have the most sterling track record. Jack Posobiec, a longtime booster of white supremacist and neo-Nazi figures and a key figure in the outlandish Pizzagate theory, tweeted in December that Swift and her “vaccine shill boyfriend” were being weaponized by the Democrats to ensure Biden’s victory.
Posobiec had a very specific way of describing it: “The Taylor Swift girlboss psyop has been fully activated.”
Swift may not have actually waded into the 2024 election cycle, beyond a generic appeal to register to vote, but the fury around her supposed deep-state-backed influence operation has the Trump campaign plotting “holy war” against the “Blank Space” singer.
The allegation that Swift is a “psyop” is ludicrous, and it showcases a complete lack of understanding of what psychological operations actually are and how they work.
If there is a psyop going on, it’s being run by those crying wolf.
A Short History of the Psyop
Fixation on psychological warfare dates back at least to Sun Tzu: “The opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.”
But the field really came into its own in the 20th century, when the great powers turned to modern psychology to understand and defeat their adversaries through propaganda and trickery.
As Paul Linebarger explained in his seminal 1948 book on psychological warfare, there are two main types of psychological operations: white propaganda, which is honest and direct, and black propaganda, which “purports to emanate from a source other than the true one.” Linebarger, who died in 1966, served in the Office of War Information during the Second World War and helped establish the US Army’s psychological warfare section.
“The Army focused on the white and gray,” Jared Tracy, the deputy command historian at the US Army Special Operations History Office, tells WIRED. Initially, the military’s psychological operations focused on how best to deliver information—”leaflet warfare” and “loudspeaker propaganda,” he says. But the military soon found creative new ways to speak to the enemy. That included the tactical, meant to gain a specific and immediate benefit on the battlefield; and the strategic, which has a longer-term, more general aim.
Black propaganda can be effective, but it is notoriously hard to do right, Linebarger writes, as it “needs to be written so as to fit in with what the enemy is reading, listening to, or talking about in his home country.”
During the Vietnam War, Trịnh Thị Ngọ—known commonly as Hanoi Hannah—delivered regular broadcasts aimed at American GIs. Her shows, written by the North Vietnamese Army, mixed popular Western music with clunky and clumsy propaganda about the futility of the war. While Hanoi Hannah’s shows may have contributed to low morale, it is unlikely she prompted any more than a handful of desertions or defections. The US later scaled up this technique through Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, which broadcast news and culture behind the Iron Curtain, with some covert help from the CIA—millions listened to the jazz programs and news broadcasts, but the broadcasts utterly failed at spurring open rebellion.
Public perception of psychological operations soured in a big way in the mid-1970s, when details of the CIA’s MK-ULTRA program were first released, detailing a plot—more based in science fiction than science—to brainwash subjects using psychoactive drugs. Further revelations that the US had supplied Nicaraguan death squads with psychological warfare guides would not help that public relations problem.
A lot of the paranoia about psychological operations stems from “misapprehensions of what it is, what it is capable of,” says Tracy, who wrote one of the definitive books on the subject.
While there may be grandiose ambitions of changing “hearts and minds,” Tracy says, the actual effect of this work is more modest: “Really, what you’re looking to do is affect peoples’ decisions of what to do and what not to do.”
In 1994, reports emerged of one particularly musical innovation from the Pentagon: During the Gulf War, the US military would boost morale by cranking up Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” when responding to Iraqi SCUD missile attacks, for example.
These techniques would later be adapted by the CIA to torture inmates captured in the War on Terror, a program now widely regarded as a complete failure.
What Makes a Good Psyop?
“Which is more effective: Tokyo Rose, in lovely, clear English, but … very much falsehood-based; or Voice of America and Radio Free Europe?” asks Christopher Paul, USMC chair for information at the Naval Postgraduate School and a senior social scientist at RAND Corporation. He answers his own question: “You can also be effective and persuasive with the truth.”
In recent decades, the Pentagon has even tried to rebrand these operations with a more mundane, but more accurate, name—Military Information Support Operations, or MISO. The name hasn’t caught on.
Paul has spent years studying the effectiveness of psychological and information operations, particularly nefarious and covert propaganda efforts. Fears over how these techniques could be used against Americans are long-standing, he notes, and are exactly why this work is forbidden domestically.
“The Department of Defense has an influence capability,” Paul says. “But by statute, law, habit, authorization, and permission: It is only ever pointed at selected foreign audiences.” Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, for example, are expressly prohibited from broadcasting to domestic audiences in the US.
Tracy and Paul agree that psychological operations work when they are targeted, clear, and—ideally—honest.
Paul points to the Russian effort to sway the 2016 presidential election. “Did it change electoral outcomes? No, not as far as we can tell, Did it cause or prevent conflicts? No, not as far as we can tell,” Paul says.
It was equally ineffective when the Pentagon tried it.
In 2022, social media companies identified a fear-reaching campaign, run by the Pentagon, to use dummy social media accounts to spread propaganda targeted at Tehran, Beijing, and Moscow. The effort prompted a backlash and led to a full-scale review of these operations. (That, seemingly, hasn’t prevented the Pentagon from exploring the possible use of deepfakes.)
But when researchers at the Stanford Internet Observatory and social media monitoring firm Graphika looked at the campaign, they found this astroturf social media campaign was wildly ineffective.
“The vast majority of posts and tweets we reviewed received no more than a handful of likes or retweets,” the researchers found. Fewer than one in five of the dummy social media accounts had managed to amass more than 1,000 followers, with most of the content receiving no interaction at all. “Tellingly, the two most-followed assets in the data provided by Twitter were overt accounts that publicly declared a connection to the US military.”
The Pop-Op
The US government has certainly tried to use popular music for its own ends. And it wasn’t always forthright about its efforts—as Linebarger noted: “The conviction of the propagandist that he is not a propagandist can be a real asset.”
In the early Cold War, the Congress on Cultural Freedom—a CIA front group—bankrolled American musicians’ tours, including jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie and Louis Armstrong, in hopes of countering Communist influence and promoting American values.
“Those who already have established credibility can be a real asset [in psychological operations],” Tracy says. “If your purposes align.”
But Gillespie and Armstrong made clear that the CIA couldn’t even control its own people: Frustrated with Jim Crow laws back in the US, Gillespie refused to attend briefings with US officials. Armstrong quit one of his tours in disgust. “The way they are treating my people in the South, the government can go to hell,” Armstrong said in 1957.
In 2020, journalist Patrick Radden Keefe investigated the possibility that the CIA had a hand in writing “Wind of Change,” an enormously popular song by a West German band called the Scorpions that became an anthem for independence movements in the USSR. (The Scorpions deny the theory.)
So there is ample history of the US government leveraging, or at least trying to leverage, celebrities and cultural icons to amplify its message. But Tracy laughs off the idea that there is a shadowy psychological operations unit inside the Pentagon managing musicians from obscurity to stardom for nefarious ends—and rigging the NFL playoffs while they’re at it.
“That’s not a thing,” he says. Organizationally, practically, logistically, the theory falls apart at every turn. Someone in the Democratic Party may well approach Swift for an endorsement, and they don’t need the Pentagon’s help.
One Good Psyop Deserves Another
The real psyop may have been staring us in the face all along.
For years, Trump’s supporters have levied the accusation of psyop at anything that contradicts their worldview. Q, the pseudonymous leader of QAnon, cryptically asked their followers in 2017: “What is brainwashing? What is a psyop?” Former White House adviser Steve Bannon has told listeners of his War Room podcast that by listening “you will never succumb to psychological warfare.” Kurt Olsen, a lawyer who helped Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election, has said that efforts to deny that the 2020 election was stolen are “all a psyop.”
Mike Benz, a former Trump official who has a history of posting racist conspiracy theories under a pseudonym, helped popularize the Swift theory. He alleges psyops are everywhere, from the Covid-19 vaccine effort to anti-disinformation programs to climate change education campaigns. He has become a go-to voice for some Republican politicians, including Representative Jim Jordan.
In that respect, Benz has stumbled onto one of the most effective psyop tactics: Discredit everything.
Linebarger, in his book, offers a prime example of this strategy: “The dropping of a few hundred tons of well counterfeited currency would tend to foul up any fiscal system.” This kind of black propaganda doesn’t seek to convince anyone of anything, but merely hopes to foment distrust of everything.
Paul says Moscow is particularly good at this kind of work. “Russian propaganda can be characterized as a war on information, this kind of nihilistic campaign to make everyone skeptical of everything.”
While influencers like Posobiec have a habit of sharing Russian disinformation, there’s no reason to think they’re being directly managed by the Kremlin. More likely, they’ve simply picked up on the same tactics.
So while Swift may well be an excellent psyop if America ever goes to war with Gen Z, it is more likely that the real psychological operation was the distrust we fomented along the way.

David Luong Perth: Strategic Planning Benefits to Improve the Company’s Performance
The history proved the importance of strategic planning to improve the company's performance. The traditional strategic planning process involves the business executives’ presence in preparing the plans.
Then, they follow their strategies to execute the plans in the company. The particular approach depends on the inherited legacy of planning and following the present data available to the company.
Tumblr media
Competitive organizations make plans according to the market change the time. Many organizations face challenges in managing the challenging things based on the planning and market scenario. David Luong showed the importance of strategic planning, which helps improve a company’s performance.
Relocate the responsibilities of the executives
The company can start by relocating the executives' responsibilities working in the company. The division of the responsibilities is according to the capabilities and experience of the staff so that they can handle things in a better way in the professional setting. It is time for the company to think wisely and start with strategic planning based on the available data. They can involve the staff, which can provide them with the best ideas for preparing the plans which can help in the growth and development of the company.
Update the process of planning
The company executives have to work on the planning process and make the necessary updates as per the requirements. They want their business should grow and prosper. It is important that the teams working on the multiple projects can start focusing on updating the planning procedure. They can apply different techniques according to the data available to them. It can benefit the company to grow their business and stand out from the competitors operating their business in the same sector.
Gather the meaningful data to prepare the plans
The market is dynamic. In that case, the companies need to start working out and gathering meaningful data. The data is useful for the executives as they can start with the planning process for the company in the growth and expansion. The purpose is to starting the business is to earn profits.
Listen to the requirement of the customers, not competitors.
The team's performance influences how you arrange things in the company's structure. It directly correlates with the decisions that affect the company's performance. If you want to improve the company’s performance, then start redesigning its functioning.
It involves bringing changes in the roles and responsibilities. The executives decide regarding the company requirements of the customers. They require preparing the plans for the product launch and company expansion, considering the customers. They can go ahead to understand what the customers want and don’t follow the competitors blindly.
It can harm their business. The famous saying all of us know that the customer is the king of the business growth. The businesses don’t work according to the customers’ requirements. In this case, it is difficult for them to survive in the competition and scale the business. The company can consider these things carefully to grow. David Luong's team is focusing on it to ensure the company's success.
