I think detaching disgust from morality is one of the keys to Chilling Out. You can find inner peace by being able to go "hm! Gross" and recognize if it's an actual problem or not. Cause if it's not an actual problem... it's not your problem 🙏 god bless

I think so many people are so deeply alienated from themselves that they have no clue how to exercise their free will and autonomy. For some, this alienation runs so deep that they are afraid of their own autonomy and humanity. It is completely understandable why one would have those feelings, but it can be worrisome.
I want to help others who feel this way, so here are small things I have done to exercise my free will:
Add "guilty pleasure" songs to playlists and actually listen to them (I have a ton of late 1990s-early 2000s music I listen to now proudly that I never listened to in the past out of shame)
Getting the décor item, bath set, bed spread, ect. in the patterns you like, even if it's "childish" (I got a dinosaur-themed wastebasket from the kids' décor section and I adore it)
Taking a new route to get to a place you go to often
Eat dessert first
Celebrate well, and often
Collect things that are "odd" or don't seem like an "acceptable" thing to collect (somebody on my "for you" page collects dandelion crayola crayons and it was so cool!!!!!!)
Incorporate one new piece in an outfit you wear frequently (e.g., a new chain, a necklace, ribbons, bracelets, ect.). Challenge yourself to add onto the outfits if you feel up for it.
Sing along to songs without worrying that you sound "good" or your intonation is completely accurate
Read a book from a genre you weren't allowed to read as a kid (comics, thrillers, mysteries, anything!)
Walk without having a specific destination or goal
Pick up a new craft without expecting yourself to master it or to ever be "good" enough. Get your hands messy.
I don't want to shame anybody for not feeling as though they have free will or that they are exempt from exercising it. However, I wanted to give ideas so that you might read this list and find your own ways to express your intrinsic autonomy and will. You deserve to be a person, to feel alive, not just living. That is what our lives are for.

Your parents are not "narcissists". They're typical authoritarian assholes who treat you like their property because society allows them to.
Your ex boyfriend is not a "narcissist". He's a typical misogynistic douchebag who treats women like shit because society allows him to.
Your boss is not a "narcissist". They're a typical classist dipshit who thinks workers' entire purpose in life is to generate profit because society allows them to.
And even if they happen to be a "narcissist", that's not what gave them the power to get away with abuse.
So stop blaming mental illness and start blaming society's normalization of abuse. Stop acting like someone has to have a mental illness in order to do something cruel when ordinary people have been doing atrocious things since forever.

Ok not to be really insufferable but I think the thing that’s often lost when people talk about the Pokédex is that it’s assumed it’s genuinely a tool for adults. Like the in game professors describe it as a “high tech encyclopaedia” and that’s taken at face value.
But in Japanese the word used is “図鑑” - “zukan”. This means “picture encyclopaedia”. But what the implication of this is is actually mostly stuff like this:
Tumblr media
Like the type of thing you read in primary school! Those big illustrated books that give kids introduction to just simple concepts of biology, or zoology. Full of fun facts that may not be 100% accurate but sure are cool! Not necessarily a robust resource for adults.
I’m not saying “zukan” is never used to refer to something a bit more high level. A little search around and I did find zukans that seemed targeted at older people, but honestly I noticed some of these had negative reviews like “there’s no furigana in this! This is too hard for my kid!”. So that to me suggests the connotation is very much like. Kids encyclopaedia.
So my point is when the Pokédex says bonkers stuff like:
Tumblr media
It’s more akin to children’s encyclopaedia publishing a “fun fact” that’s just like…could be theoretically true but only if you simplify a bunch of stuff.
Anyway my point is
a) the Pokédex is a resource specifically for grade-school age children
b) Professor Oak is one of those professors that at some point diverted most of his time into children’s science communication.

Look, we joke a lot, but really, "you were born evil, wretched, worse than the scum of the earth, and it took killing a god to make you salvageable, so now you'd better be grateful to that god and thank him 10,000 times a day for it and fill your thoughts with him 24/7 and abide by the letter of his every word, lest you suffer unimaginable torture for all of eternity" is a truly horrendous thing to believe about yourself and other people

The SNUGGLE SQUAD are so stinkin' cute already, I can't.
Caelus being so obviously infatuated with Dan Heng from day one but still respecting his personal space, because he's so content just to exist alongside Dan Heng that he would never demand from Dan Heng more than he's willing to give.
Dan Heng trusting him and giving him space to exist in an unfamiliar world, even sharing his vulnerabilities because he knows Caelus will never take advantage of him.
Dan Heng encouraging, but never forcing, Caelus to confront his fears, because he knows he can't spend his whole life attached to Caelus at the hip, and he knows Caelus will gain more confidence from overcoming his anxieties on his own terms rather than being coerced into it. Dan Heng being present to offer advice and support -- indeed, he's the person Caelus turns to first -- but also letting Caelus make his own choices and build his independence.
Caelus being so self-assured that he doesn't feel anything special for Aventurine aside from wanting to bang him but begrudgingly realizing and ultimately accepting that Aventurine's presence makes his heart do the happy face emoji and he doesn't need a particularly compelling reason to be in love with him, even if it does stem from purely sexual interest.
Caelus saving Aventurine without even thinking about the fact that they're set up to be enemies, because he just doesn't want to lose him. Caelus rushing an unconscious Aventurine back to Dan Heng because Dan Heng is the first person he can think of who can reliably understand and help him.
The dynamic between Aventurine and Dan Heng, by which Aventurine is the newly initiated member of the polycule and Dan Heng is the senior member long since resigned to his fate who just sighs and goes "yeah, Caelus is going to remind you how much he loves you multiple times a day. This is your life now, so you'll have to get used to it" like it's such a struggle to be treated so affectionately when he's obviously so here for it. Aventurine being cynical at first but then realizing basically after the first day that Dan Heng was indeed not exaggerating, and he's also so here for it.
Aventurine being so utterly flabbergasted and unable to comprehend why Caelus would love him after he was so clearly setting up Caelus just to take advantage of his presence, only realizing after the fact that his plan ultimately failed because the one thing he didn't count on was Caelus being so willing to love him anyway, out of sheer spite if nothing else.
Aventurine being so unused to being so unconditionally cared for as a person and learning to love himself and show vulnerability through Caelus doing the same for him. Aventurine finally finding the freedom to drop the act of "overconfident, fate-manipulating gambler," if only sometimes and only around Caelus, because, like Dan Heng, he's learned to trust Caelus to never take advantage of his vulnerability.
I love them, your honor.
