Each footstep echoed a distinct 'clock' sound through the tall hallways. Every stone hand placed; every window hand made. Sure, I wasn't there to help much, but even still, walking through the halls was like a dream.

The windows, each nearly reaching the ceiling, has its own design that it would cast down in a colorful shadow (all on the order of the rainbow, of course).

I would make sure to try and walk the east side of the castle every morning, and the west side every evening. In the mornings I would try to wrangle my hair into a sturdy braid (I still don't know how She does it so easily), or at least some low pigtails, but sometimes it was too difficult to take any attention away from the stained glass.

I would occasionally sneak into the kitchen and snatch away a loaf of bread and some jam, the cooks didn't mind (they would even set some aside for me). The rooms were large, the furniture extravagant, the garden always lively, the people always friendly.

Until the sun went down, that is.

The nights were quiet, that was the only downside. The palace was always warm during the day, but at night it got cold, so cold. Cold and quiet; every drip of water, every squeak from a mouse, every little sound is just like back then. No matter how soft and mattresses and pillows and blankets here are, no matter how many feathers I sleep on, I can still feel the cold, wet, floor.

I didn't have a blanket. Either time. I didn't get one. Sure, either of us could've gone out and made one, but it would've quickly been ruined, one way or another.

The first time, She often would visit, just to check in on me, to make sure I was okay, and that He wasn't dangerous for me to be around. He was, I just don't think I noticed, thought it was 'tough love', or something. She definitely noticed, She offered me a home in Her castle, I thank Her for that.

The second time, She only visited once. She gave me food, a few books, clothes, and a hug. She washed and braided my hair for me, it was nice. I tried to hide them, but It found out. It always finds out. I couldn't keep anything She gave me, even Her hugs were taken from me after It destroyed the portal. It was hell.

I couldn't return home, not with It watching my every move; like a hawk with axes and swords for talons. Eventually, They showed up. I hid at first, I didn't want It knowing that I spoke to, or even saw anyone. They noticed the condition of the place - normally beaches aren't covered in soot and scrap fabric. They looked for me, I hid again. They found me, I hid my face with my arms, hid Them by scrunching my eyelids tight. They looked like It, with that armor.

When I opened my eyes again, I could see that They weren't It. One of Them was shorter than It, with longer hair and a smaller frame, the other was probably twice It's size, and not vaguely human. But The looked safe(er). They didn't look like They wanted to hurt me.

They offered me shelter, and I told them what happened over hot coco, and They listened. They listened, and bundled me in blankets, a bowl of warm stew from the small one, a set of soft clothes from the big one. So quickly, They managed to make the coldest place on the server feel so warm.

But They just as quickly left. The big one took me to walk around town, even though neither of us were allowed anywhere near there. The sun hit my skin with actual warmth, not reflected off of snow and gray clouds. I told the big one that I wanted to stay, that this was my home, and he laughed in response, like I told a bad joke.

When the time came, we were surrounded, I told that big one again that I wanted to stay, even after everything. I saw his eyes change that day, like His, but calculated; like It's, but angry. He didn't hurt anyone that day, but everyone knew what could've been in an instant.

The town was gone days later, my house, and the last remnants of Him with it. Out of all people to team up with It, why Them?

When She heard what happened She cried. I hadn't seen her cry before. I cried too, when She hugged me. She kept weeping into my hair that She was so grateful that I was alive. I didn't really get it, but the hug was nice.

I finally moved in with Her, with nothing to my name. She got me a room, good clothes, good food, a therapist. The beds were so comfy that it took me a few nights to actually sleep, I didn't want to wake up on the beach again.

When I found the note, I hid it from Her. I didn't want Her to be angry with me. When She found it She hugged me. She has a habit of doing that. It was a cautious hug, and a short one. She barely made eye contact. She looked like she was going to cry again. She pointed me to the armory. On my way out, I could hear her knees hit the floor, followed by sniffling.

When We came back, She hugged Us both so tight I was sure We would suffocate. Part of me wished We did. She saw to that We were taken to hospital, that We were taken care of, that We were safe, just like She always did.

I had come back changed, but she would always stay the same. With open arms and all the care in the world, She was my safety. The safety that I hadn't had since before He broke down, the safety I lost with It, the safety I craved with Them, the safety that We couldn't defend anymore.

And I thank her for that

So Elon bought Twitter. I'm honestly not gonna push away Twitter newcomers, but if you're in the MCYT fandom you need to understand that the social etiquette and expectations and culture here are very different than over on Twitter. So as someone who's been an active part of mcytblr for two years now, I'd like to offer some thoughts and advice!

One: Shipping. MCYT communities on Tumblr have always tended to lean more tolerant towards shipping of roleplay characters due to the idea that this is a space for fans primarily. The creators who visit or actively use Tumblr like Eret and Martyn understand that this is a fan space primarily, and don't bother us for the content we make, and we don't bother them with it.

The number one worst thing you could do is share shipping content with creators who have not asked for it. This is a huge social faux pas here. Secondly, on the other end — writing callout posts for shippers here isn't gonna fly. Even for RPF shippers and people who may ship boundary-breaking pairings, our default is usually to not engage with these people rather than publicly call them out. It makes the space a healthier place for everyone and makes it much less likely that CCs may come across content they are uncomfortable with. It's also considered a social faux pas to ask CCs their opinions and boundaries on shipping, since that's bringing it up when they didn't ask!

Speaking of shipping, people typically don't mind you maintagging ship content so long as you also tag it as shipping so people can filter it. For Hermitcraft the tag is hermitshipping, Life Series has trafficshipping, and the lesser known DSMP tag is dsmpshipping.

Two: Reblogging. This is something a lot of newer users tend to struggle with. There is no algorithm on Tumblr, at least not one that works, so content creators rely on you reblogging their work in order for it to spread. If you see a fic or piece of art you enjoy, please reblog it! I often reblog art for MCYT fandoms I'm not even personally in.

Three: Tagging (again). There are a wide variety of tags you can use for your content! The most common tags you'll want to use are "mcyt" and "mcytblr", and any relevant series, pairing/group or character/CC names. However, please don't use the tag "minecraft"! Minecraft has an entirely separate fanbase on Tumblr that we co-exist with and have some overlap with, but don't necessarily appreciate seeing MCYT content in their tags. Any tag with "minecraft" in it is also a no-no, such as "minecraft youtubers" or "minecraft championships". Please use shorthands!

Four: Opinions on MCYT drama tend to be very different here than they are on Twitter. For instance, you should assume by default that most bloggers here either like or are completely neutral towards "problematic CCs" like Schlatt. But also, we tend to be very against spreading anything originating from leakers, and we also tend to not be fond of making posts "holding CCs accountable" for things they did years ago. Generally, mcytblr prefers to be a more drama-free community, and if you do engage in discourse, many would appreciate you tagging it as such!

Five: CCs do not need you to babysit them.

Generally speaking you will see a lot of jokes and memes on mcytblr that wouldn't fly on Twitter, and it is generally looked down upon to try to speak on behalf of CCs personal boundaries — they are grown adults, and you are a stranger! Calling out or harassing people for "breaking boundaries" is mostly just going to get you looked at strangely, especially if you don't have a source for your claims. Most of us will stop doing something if asked, but we don't need stans to tell us to! CCs can speak for themselves when uncomfortable.

Six: Most mcytblr blogs don't want CC notices. There are quite a few CCs who are active here, but the community is chill with them as they don't tend to talk about us elsewhere and allow us to do our own thing. We do not, however, like encouraging CCs to join Tumblr or to follow us or reblog our posts — many people here actually prefer being out of sight of CCs and many of us consider it rude to seek out attention from CCs outside of sending the occasional ask.

Please treat CCs kindly and don't gawk at them like you just saw a celebrity on the street — the ones who are active here are just Tumblr users like the rest of you! Seeing Eret reblog fanart or respond to an ask isn't something to point out.

While we joke about Twitter users joining, we don't actually have anything against you guys, it's just that we've built a very different community here and ask that you respect it and the etiquette we've come to establish! Thank you, and I hope you enjoy your stay on mcytblr ^_^

It's clear from Tubbo's hint that the nukes were not what caused the reset, and "The Incident" was very likely the DreamXD finale. So at this time (November 15, 2022), there were plans for the ending that BadBoyHalo and Eret have talked about.

Keep in mind that fans on twitter were trying to cancel streamers for streaming on the DSMP, and Dream was not in a good place at the time. After the allegations, he lost motivation, distanced himself from online life, and ended up neglecting the DSMP. It's unfortunate that we never got to see the true ending of the DSMP, but I don't blame him.

Because we genuinely don't know the geography of Ecclesia or the SMP world, I think p!Scott actually has a point – where did everyone come from? What is the geography of Ecclesia like?

Just because p!Owen assumes Oakhurst is located within the Ice Wall doesn't mean it actually is; we don't know enough about the geography of Ecclesia to tell yet

We know Ecclesia/the region near the Faction Isles have been used as a "shortcut" for trading ships (from one of the treasure quest descriptions), suggesting there is ocean beyond Ecclesia as well and land far beyond the area. We also know one of the navies lurk north of Ecclesia (from p!Sausage's backstory), that places like Naya and p!Eloise's hometown exist, etc.

Many questions about the Ice Wall: when did it first appear, if p!Owen never saw it? Who made it and how was it done? Why does it exist in the first place? We know it has something to do with the cultists and the corruption, but nothing concrete just yet

this is mainly a collection of my fav headcannons about the war but I might reblog to expand or do different topics lol

- l’manburg had bunkers underground where they would hide out in groups. according to wilbur it was for the “element of surprise.” It was one of their best war strategies that helped them win. dream also thought there numbers were a lot smaller because of this, and got cocky. the final control room was one of the bunkers turned into a death trap by eret

- dream’s militia was around 2x greater than l’manburgs

-the war lasted around three years

-at night they had to turn off all the lights and be silent, so dream couldn’t drop tnt on them (ahem doomsday was really silly)

-Tommy hated the deathly silence at night, and Wilbur forced him to go on top of the walls if he wanted to talk to tubbo or himself. Dream couldn’t hear them from up there, but eret could.

- whenever they moved to a new battle ground, they set off a firework to begin the fight. l’manburg’s we’re blue and the smp’s were red

-l’manburg filtered their own water from the river

- dream found the source of the river and polluted it with poison potions, and it caused a giant health crisis.

- fundy led the troops who delivered potions to medical tents. (He begged Wilbur for a job, but he did pretty good at it most of the time)

-their communicators were designed by tubbo, but it was one of the first models so it cut out a lot. sometimes for weeks in a go, and it led to troops being misled a lot.

- they had to wear tall boots to avoid foot infections from the marshy land

-there’s different levels to the potions based on the severity of the injury/ attack, and they all have specific ways to be brewed.

-many people’s hair got burnt in the explosion of l’manburg, so in pogtopia everyone cut their hair to chin-length to protest for l’manburg. it was a symbol of how they suffered

My complicated thoughts on c!Wilbur's ending (I tried to make this short)

For me, there are things about Wilbur's ending I still don't vibe with because they'd need to be more expanded on to be effective

The whole last arc still feels like a big flop because in the end Wilbur just kinda got stomped all over until in the end he followed Phil's worst advice for the worst moment and went away with that idea of "If they don't forgive me I have to go", and Phil's erroneous message was just kinda never really defied by the narrative

I still wish he would've had a moment to yell at someone and be rightfully mad because holy shit he should've, a scene to parallel Ghostbur's rightful anger at phil during Doomsday that felt to be so easily set up with Wilbur being reminded a few times that Phil, Techno and Dream did doomsday and the crater wasn't from the 16th, and with him having to confront and be pretty disappointed in it just being "his grave" when he had no grave, lighting up at the idea that L'manburg was worth enough to rebuild after he was gone in his conversation with Tubbo on the 3rd of August 2021 stream

The book for Eret and half of what was said in it regarding Eret is still shit in the context of my own Judas being a thing, with Eret only chastising Wilbur for "not apologizing well enough" when Wilbur never did anything to Eret aside from rightfully not trusting them once Eret murdered everyone for their own selfish gain and continued to do shit to the L'manburgians after (which is all in lost VODs and this isn't Eret crit centric, so I won't go too far into this, but the towers to make them feel watched, something like covering the sun on their territory to make mobs spawn, etc). Eret never apologized for real, Eret admitted to wanting Wilbur to be a sort of puppet leader in a new country to essentially make Eret a dictator, as she later said that democracy wasn't good, the only reason why she told Wilbur not to jump off the bridge was because "think of all the resources I wasted trying to revive you", she made the empty gesture of throwing away the crown for like the third time while losing no real power or status, etc

And I don't like that in defending the ending so much in the most literal sense some people have just disregarded what in my opinion makes the ending more interesting, which is that the Utah desert can be seen as a metaphor for the afterlife, but an afterlife in which Wilbur went to his imagined desert instead of the limbo he thought he deserved to suffer in, because that possible interpretation was clearly done intentionally with the Eret book, the Ozimandias callback, the "I never did forgive myself", and we know that Wilbur wants us to analyze the ending as he himself said it

So I understand those who didn't like it, had some problems with it or were dissatisfied, because I myself could never be satisfied by it, because to have that I would need everyone else who isn't Wilbur to own up to their own shit and make it explicit that Wilbur isn't and wasn't at fault for everything

Have Eret actually say a real sorry for killing him and all L'manburgians and it to have weight for real, have Niki own up to the fact that she was never abandoned, but she did betray the L'manburgians multiple times, have Fundy and Wilbur have a talk about the Pogtopia buttons and Fundy disowning Wilbur as a father, have Phil own up to and suffer consequences for Doomsday, let Wilbur actually confront the reality of Doomsday with Phil there, have them talk about the 16th, have Wilbur come closer to an understanding with Ghostbur from that going further than just sending Friend to him, get some deeper understanding of Ghostbur as a part of himself, have Wilbur see that self-love isn't letting yourself be beaten down and stepped over for the comfort of those who wronged you, have him see and others confront that he isn't just a scapegoat and he isn't the source of all evil, have that mythical reddit post that put this all so clearly guide the steps to this

But I get that it all would hinge on all these characters with pretty bad writing in general getting their shit together and actually being written well for longer than just one stream, things should've started changing with them all from hitting on 16 onwards and that just wouldn't happen, so in the context of what cc!Wilbur could do by himself, it's pretty good, and the open ended-ness and little more metaphorical pieces such as the nice afterlife in the desert, the bandage being gone without us ever getting a proper explanation of it, Ghostbur getting Friend sent to him by Wilbur even if Wilbur will forever separate himself from the idea of Ghostbur makes it all feel like at least c!Wilbur himself is... Ok. He isn't doing incredibly good, he still doesn't forgive himself, but hell, he's ok, be it at peace in a literal place or the afterlife, in the end he went off with a smile, he made his decision and got at least Tommy to talk with him one last time on ok-ish terms, in the end at least he knows that Tommy cares, even if it would've been much better to have more

HTTYD: How Can It Be ‘Our World’?

According to the director/writer Dean DeBlois (in several interviews, unfortunately I don’t have a source), the HTTYD movies - he doesn’t count the shows as canon - take place in ‘our world’, in the real world. There are many reasons why this claim is not substantiated by what we actually see (or rather, don’t see) on screen, as explained below.

We never see any locations from the real world. Despite taking inspiration from real world locations, the setting always takes place in a fictional archipelago that has no real world equivalent. Even the inconsistent maps that show the archipelago as being somewhere in the North Atlantic mess with scale. One map shows the Westfjords of Iceland, the eastern coast of Greenland, the northern end of Norway… and a large, unidentifiable landmass in the upper right that doesn’t resemble anything in the real world. How can it be the real world if the setting isn’t on our maps?

The Viking characters are clearly based more on stereotypes than on actual Old Norse culture. Their aesthetic is a surface level nod to the idea of ‘Vikings’ as horned-helmet wearing barbarian thugs, who didn’t bathe and had giant weapons. We’re also never told when exactly during the Viking age the movies are supposed to take place. Berks dragon war is as long as the actual Viking age. How can it be the real world if the characters aren’t really Norse?

In the 2nd movie, according to the art book, Eret and his crew were inspired by Sami and Inuit cultures. These are from opposite sides of the Atlantic, but treated as a monolith because they’re both ‘Arctic’. Even more egregious is the villain, Drago, who was ‘inspired’ by Asian, African, Mediterranean and Slavic influences despite having a Bulgarian name, a country that includes almost all of those influences. How can it be the real world if the non-Viking characters aren’t from specific locations, but just ‘elsewhere’?

In the third movie, we’re introduced to the ‘hidden world’, which according to Dean is a network of tunnels and caverns that ‘winds all around the world’. This makes no sense when one considers plate tectonics. How can it be the real world if actual physical geology, much less geography, gets ignored in favour of aesthetic?

The evidence is in folks, and it all points to Dean’s claim being a half hearted attempt to get out of doing actual world building for the franchise. HTTYD doesn’t take place in ‘our world’ anymore than Lord of the Rings or GOT takes place in actual Europe, but unlike DeBlois, neither Tolkien or GRR Martin ever tried to pretend they did.
