It was one of those times--that were starting to happen with worrying frequency--that Cecil was finding it hard to talk to Avelan. He wanted to say he was trying, he really did... but whenever the prince had to stand and watch his husband bend time and again to the whims of the Emperor (he refused to call the man anything close to a father-in-law)... it was hard.

It made Cecil wonder sometimes, where the man he and Jai fell for went. The proud prince with a sharp mind and even sharper tongue. The man that fell into the short list of people who could best Cecil in combat, had a love of weaponry that rivaled his own, and matched his ferocity in battle besides?

The man whose smile still made Cecil's heart flutter, and was so fun to fluster because Avelan was so adorable when he was embarrassed?

Cecil looked over to his husband, pausing in their walk, before looking up. Ah...

His eyes go back to Avelan's, and Cecil takes a moment to search for... something. After a moment, he takes the other prince's face gently in his hands, before leaning in to press a soft kiss to Avelan's lips.

"My Avy..." he whispers, stealing a few more short kisses, before just staring into his husband's eyes for a moment. His own smile soft, loving, and longing. "I love you. So much. I hope you never forget that."

I hope that's enough to bring back the man I fell in love with.
