Pokémon I Really Like and Why I Like Them Because Y’all Haven’t Heard This Before!
Alright, so... I’m trying out tumblr’s mobile app for this so sorry if it looks weird. I figured testing it out with some of my favorite Pokémon is good subject because no matter what everyone’s opinion is wrong (including mine) so you can say this is stupid and move on to Punkochu’s shit-posts.
Anyhow, I don’t have particular rating for these cuz they tend to jumble up and down every time I think of it. I like all these Pokémon equally and you can’t convince me to pick one over the other. None of them are good for battle either so if you’re obsessed with that you’re going to have a bad time.
First off, I’d like to say Cubchoo is adorable and is my favorite Ice type as well as my favorite Unovan Pokémon. I did say none of these are good at battle. Now the Cubchoo line is based on polar bears. If my online name hasn’t made it obvious... my favorite animal is the tapeworm... that’s a joke in case you couldn’t figure that out on your own.
I think my attachment to polar bears stems from my trips to Seaworld. I would always get excited to stand on the moving floor and look at penguins in the Arctic exhibit. I’m really throwing y’all through several loops, huh? Ok, basically my family calls me Teddy because I resembled a Teddy Bear which in turn meant I got associated with bears in general and the penguin exhibit ended in a store where the specific Bear merchandise they had was Polar Bears! Make sense now? Yes, I like Polar Bears because of my name and appreciation for air conditioning set to freezing temperatures for tuxedo birds. The plush toys added nice non-color to my room. I miss having plush polar bears...
Cubchoo is my favorite over Beartic because... Cubchoo is cute! Ok? I know it has snot dripping from its nose, I don’t care! I’ll give it a tissue and snuggle it! Where can I buy a Cubchoo plush?!
I already stated my connection to Raichu but to reiterate, my grandma (who I’d call “Grandmer”) got me an art table with a painted Raichu on it. What I didn’t mention was that I got a VHS tape (if you know you know. If you don’t you’re too young.) of that anime episode where Ash battles Lt. Surge. Knowing Raichu was a power house encouraged me to get a Raichu in the games for my team... then I found out the anime lied to me and Raichu was not good against rocks, dirt, and plants. Still, the design and memories of this electric rodent stuck with me for years.
SO WHY ISN’T RAICHU MY FAVORITE GEN 1 POKÉMON?
Well, that’s because of Gengar and Haunter. Gengar is a more recent fondness because of Pokémon Journey and all the mega forms Gengar has been getting. I mainly favored Haunter because as a kid my friends didn’t play Pokémon GAMES. We certainly showed each other our cards but that was pretty much it. That meant I was denied trade evolutions for my entire childhood and I just now realized that might have added to my hatred for gen 4 (fucking everstone trade). So, because I was denied Gengar, I decided to stick with Haunter... even though this means I actually DO favor Gengar as my top gen 1 Pokémon after all hmmm...
Speaking of Ghost types, my favorite Ghost Pokémon is Duskull. Not Dusklops who I think looks meh or Dusknoir who I would say was hit with the same ugly stick Dragonite was. No, I like Duskull because I find it cute and the Pokédex entries are adorable funny to me. Like “aw Duskull likes scaring naughty kids, such a good little spook” it also has a simple design I enjoy drawing. A skull mask over dark rags. It’s so easy how can you not love it! Ok, yes, it can’t battle well but does battling matter when every child abuses legendaries to level 100 one shot you? I’d rather have Pokémon that look good and can play with on Pokémon Camp.
I don’t really have favorites from Johto, Sinnoh, or Kalos. Johto had a majority of baby Pokémon. Gen 4 was just no. And Kalos felt like it was trying too hard to be Kanto. I will say my favorite Eeveelution is Umbreon. I guess that counts as my favorite gen 2 Pokémon, right?
So, Umbreon was the first Eeveelution I got after training Eevee at midnight on the route after Goldenrod. I’ve always been a night person and Umbreon being a Dark Pokémon (the new type at the time) with the ability to sparkle amazed me to no end... wait... was I lucky in gen 2 and my Umbreon was actually a shiny? I mean, it did sparkle and no other Pokémon did that aside from my off color HootHoot... omg I had a shiny Umbreon and just now realized it. That agonizes me because I’m never going to be able to get another shiny Umbreon. Well, at least I have a regular Umbreon plush. It’s a cool Pokémon, everyone loves it. My Umbreon in gen 6 had the moonlight attack which was Fairy type (new type from gen 6) and it was essential for me sweeping the Kalos champion’s team including her mega rule 34 bait. I always try to have Umbreon on my team. It’s such a good dog-cat-Fox-thing...
In Alola we were given new forms of old Pokémon and well... I really only liked Ice/Fairy Ninetails. The rest of the Pokémon in that game were pretty boring and I know people love their seal mermaid (which is one of the many rule 34 Pokémon from that gen) but I don’t. With that said, I do find Decidueye adorable.
I think grass starters are the least picked out of the three. But gen 7 made everyone rush to the plant owl who becomes an archer... after bullying the seal and abandoning the cat. For me, I wanted the Grass owl because it would turn its head around to look at you which is oh so adorable! When I got to it’s final evolution I could hear all the “EDGE” jokes but Decidueye is pretty much the same adorkable Grass owl it always was. Just now has a super arrow attack now.
So that was some of the Pokémon I really like in no particular order, just wanted to say this just for the hell of it. I don’t know what Galar is going to give me but I hope it brings something fun. Thanks for reading all this if you did. Anyways... have a good night. See y’all at the end of the month.
