Thinking about jafar and like. His just near unparalleled skill and talent and how he is consistently able to hold his own against metal vessel users as a household vessel, his willingness to throw down against judar literally at a moments notice.

like just someone who could have absolutely been a kings candidate. Decided to finally bite the bullet and read Magi: The Adventures of Sinbad.

In the middle of the Mariadel arc, and whoa does it get heavy.

#magi adventures of sinbad #sinbad no bouken #thoughts #mariadel #and i thought the ORIGINAL got dark at times #even the most disturbing parts had NOTHING on this #i'm not sure whether i want to quickly get through this arc to get to the comforting part #or take a break to just sit and PROCESS it all #probably the first #it's not that this is the darkest or most disturbing thing i've ever read or anything like that #i just wasn't EXPECTING it from this kind of series #so while i knew this story would obviously get depressing at times #and i understood when this arc started that it would get pretty dark #i wasn't PREPARED for it to get THIS intense #every time i think it's hit rock bottom level of whump it goes deeper #i never thought i would end up feeling sorry for FATIMA of all people #i knew from the og series that he is the way he is bc he had a pretty dark past but i never imagined THIS #i REALLY want to see this woman fall #and i am SO glad to know what her end was bc she DESERVED it #but now that i think about it how traumatic must it have been for sin when he took in orba and the other kids #did even he REALIZE? #WHOA #all queued up

Been indulging in reading Temeraire fan fics on AO3 since finishing the series (first time I’ve been this into anything new that I wanted to do that in years), and actually have started thinking about writing some fan fiction.

My first thought:  the Temeraire universe’s version of the Sinbad the Sailor stories (Sinbad the Aviator!), with a framing story of Laurence reading these stories to Temeraire.  :)
